I Got My Flu Shot. Did You?

 September 25, 2020

Good morning.  Tis the beginning of another gorgeous day.  I'm really enjoying this little blast of awesome weather. (temps, especially)   Pogo and I will take ourselves out to the porch after I finish posting this morning.

Deanne came by after work yesterday and took me to WalMart Pharmacy to get my Flu shot.  Yup, so now I'm a Flu Fighter.  That's what the TV ad for Walgreen's calls you when you get your shot.  And. they give you a Flu Fighter bandaid.  WalMart just gives you a regular little brown cloth bandaid.  It kind of makes you feel cheated somehow.  I didn't say anything though because I did not want to make a spectacle of myself.  hahaha.

While we were there, I got to look around and do a bit of grocery shopping for the items that I can't get on my "online" orders.  Yesterday morning before we left to go to WalMart, I tried to make an online order for pickup, but most of the items that I wanted were "out of stock."  Funny, when we got to the store, all of these items were on the shelves.

My doctor's office just called me about my bloodwork appointment.  They have one opening next week, so now I have to ask Deanne if she can get off work an hour earlier to take me.  Otherwise, I'll wait for another appointment.  The girl on the phone also offered to send me some information about a different doctor at the office that I might like to switch to.  I thanked her for being so thoughtful.

Meanwhile, I still see ads from folks on the web saying that they are listing their pets on the web or at Craigslist.  PLEASE DON'T DO THIS!  A lot of these poor animals are used as bait in dog fighting.  Please, please, please, don't do this ever.  (image borrowed from web)

Others are used for breeding to supply pet stores.  Folks, this is not a life that these innocent animals deserve.  Please don't do this.  If you have to give up your pets, at least give them to a no kill shelter.  Give them a chance at life.  (This is how my little guy spent his first six years.  In a little cage with no medical care and whatever food they gave him.)

I know I sound like a broken record sometimes, but as long as I can, I will speak up for these innocent animals.

On that note, I'm going to gather up my Pogo and my things and head for the porch.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Congratulations Flu Fighter LOL!

Pity you cannot have the blood taken at home! Well, I am sure Deanne will figure out a way to drive you to the doctor's. And nice from the lady that she will send you information about the change to another doctor.Another doctor that suites you can me a hell of a difference!

Oh those poor dogs. if you need to get rid of your pet, try to give it to a "good"shelter, where your pet could be picked up by another loving family. It is breaking my heart to see how lots of anomals are treated.

Isn;t if funny that you order groceries on line and they are out of stock and you see them in the supermarket? May be because they are lying on those shelves, they don;t have enough in stock in the warehouse?

I am a bit jealous to hear you still have lovely weather, so you can sit on the porch. At the moment we have very strong wind(could become even lots stronger) and every now and then pouring rain. And temps aren;t really too great.

Never mind, we'll take it as we get it(nothing else we can do about it hahaha_)
Have a lovely day,
Hug
Kyra

Hi Edna, I so agree with you about people giving up their pets, the thought of what happens to them makes me cringe, and cry. Pets especially dogs are so loyal to us, I still miss my Jack so much!
I am happy you were able to find the things at Wal-mart, our Wal-Mart store shelves are so empty, all around our area, even our Food Lion shelves are sparce.
I probably need to take the flu-shot but just haven't.
Thank you for visiting and for your sweet comment, enjoy your special time with Pogo.
Blessings,
Sue

I am with you on not posting to Craigslist for our pets. OMGosh this makes me see RED every time that I think of these poor animals. Edna feel free to sound like a broken record because we are the only advocate these poor animals have and it really makes a difference in these animals lives to be able to have a chance at life.

I am glad that you got your Flu shot and are now a Flu Fighter! I got mine a week or so ago! Take care and I will talk to you soon! Hugs to you and Pogo xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

I'm a flu fighter, too, but no fun band aid at the doctor's office. You can't emphasize enough the need to be kind to the animals in your life. You will never know how many animals you may save and that is so important.

I am a flu fighter too:) My band-aid was a silver sparkly one! It is nice to do some "in store" shopping and I just might do some today. I agree, don't advertise animals on the web, they deserve better. Enjoy your Saturday dear friend, HUGS!

Glad you got your shot! I haven't had one yet but I intend to. I love how you speak up for animals. I couldn't imagine giving away Olga!

Yes, we both got our flu shots this year. Mine was at Walgreens, and my husband went to CVS and got a CVS bandaid, mine was a standard plain one. So sad about the pets being abandoned and those being used for breeding in pet stores.
