Farewell to 2018

December 31, 2018

Good morning.  Well, this is it!  Tonight is New Year's Eve.  Tomorrow we start another brand new year.  If you still have stuff that has to be done in 2018, then today is the day to do it.  By tonight, we'll all be celebrating with family and friends, and watching fireworks displays that welcome in the new year.

Pogo and I will watch the fireworks displays on TV.  That's if we're still awake.  We usually get to watch the fireworks from other countries because they are on before midnight here.  Sometimes though, we are already asleep before midnight and miss the beautiful display put on here in Boston.

In some parts of the world, it is already the new year.  The celebrations in New Zealand are being televised this morning.  Japan is about fourteen hours ahead of us, so in less than three hours, Japan will celebrate the New Year.  (I looked this one up because my son in law is there.)

This morning, I need to call the furnace guy to make the arrangements to have the work done on my furnace.  Then I need to go the bank, and then stop by the market for a few things.  This afternoon, I'm going to try cooking French fries and hamburgers in my air fryer.  I haven't tried the air fryer yet because I've just been too busy to try something new.  But today's the day I try it.  I've already looked up the directions for cooking French fries (on Google).

Did you know that if you are a member of Amazon and have Comcast Cable, you can now watch all the prime movies on your television.  Just say "show me Amazon Prime movies" to your remote.  I haven't tried it yet but I might later today.  Just to see if it works.

I found another funny tee shirt in one of my catalogues that I want to share.  This one makes me chuckle.  Sounds like it could make for a fun day.

Today I have a new quick page for you.  This will be the last one for this year.  Later in the week, I'll post the first one for the new year.  Enjoy.

Now it's time for me to get busy here and call the furnace guy.  I have to catch him in his office before he starts his work day.  At eight o'clock, he leaves the office and will be on the road most all day.  So, till next year folks, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Already Picking Our Projects For Next Year

December 30, 2018

Good morning.  Just today and tomorrow left to do something in this year of 2018.  So, what will you be doing to see the year out?  Well, Pogo and I will be taking it easy.  We'll watch a lot of the festivities on TV.  No messing with the cold or whatever weather comes our way.

One thing I will be doing away with is watching the Morning News and the Weekend Express news on HLN.  I used to enjoy this news station, but I am so tired of the negative political slurs and slants that they manage to fit into every newscast.   It's a real shame that our news broadcasters and newspapers can no longer report just the news without shoving their personal political views down our throats.

This morning I'm watching JTV (Jewelry Television) Jewel School.  They sell supplies for making jewelry and teach you different ways to make it.  And yup, they talked me into buying something today, some heavy duty memory wire.  Hmmm, this could be the beginning of a fun new project for next year.  In my mind, I am already envisioning some finished projects.

Oh dear.  I just picked up one of my supply catalogues to see if they might have some beads that I will be needing and stumbled upon another wicked cute project that I will definitely have to make for a gift for next year.

Remember the new gutters that Cliff put up for me just recently?  Well, they really do help but the rain found a way to run down between the gutter and the house in some spots.  Last week Cliff came by to put some sealer between the gutters and the house to prevent this.  We just had a lot of rain and I forgot to look to see if it works.  I'll be watching when the next rain comes.

Meanwhile, here is one of the photos that I took of the rain "leaks" before Cliff put the sealer on.  Nope, those are not little silver balls hanging from silver threads.  Those are rain drops!  Every now and then I get lucky and get a really fun photo like this one.

Yesterday was another "photo op" day.  Our friendly neighborhood turkeys came by to snack on our birdfood.  They really are fun to watch, and yesterday they were very talkative.  Here are a couple photos that I took.

It was difficult taking the photos because these birds never stopped moving.  Isn't nature just awesome??  I love looking out into my yard and seeing these beautiful birds.

Now I think I'm going to refresh my cup of coffee and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

2018 Is Almost Passe

December 28, 2018

Good morning.  It's early yet, but it's going to be a nice warm day with temps in the fifties by later this afternoon.  I'm thinking it's going to be a great day to do a lot of laundry.  I want to wash all of Pogo's blankets as well as all my things.

Tomorrow, I think Pogo and I should go out and do a few errands.  I don't want to be out and about on Monday with all the folks who are getting an early start on their evening partying.  New Year's Eve is a night when I definitely stay at home and watch the festivities on TV.

Imagine that!  There are only three more days left in this year.  Tuesday will be the start of another brand new year.  After that, I'll have to start looking around for airline fares for my trip to Florida.  I don't leave till the beginning of March, but I like to start checking fares early so that I can get the best price possible.  I'm a shopper!

After that, I will secure my rental car, and then we'll start thinking about what to pack in our suitcase.  Pretty soon, I'll start making my list of things that need to be packed and which bag they go in.  Meds, camera, laptop -- all things of this nature obviously have to go in my carry on bag.  I just have to figure out how to keep the weight of the bag as low as possible.

You know, many years ago, you could pack important items in your suitcase, and they'd still be in there when you reached your destination.  Nowadays, that's not possible and that's really a shame.  You almost have to take photos of what is inside your suitcase to prove that it was in there when you checked it at the baggage station.

Enough of that!  My little guy wasn't very hungry last night, so we saved his supper for breakfast.  He was hungry this morning and licked his plate clean!  Now he's curled up next to me on the sofa.  There are soft snoring sounds wafting up to my ears.

Yesterday, I took this photo of Pogo, all curled up in his new little tent bed.  He doesn't play with toys, but you can see him here with two of the new toys that he got for Christmas.  He uses the green bone for a pillow, and snuggles into the toy snowman.

We didn't get a chance to give Joe some of his Christmas presents until yesterday.  After a long day at work, this really brightened up his day.

While cleaning out a file folder on my laptop, I came across this article for making our steps a little bit less slippery.  I found the article on the web a while ago, and tucked it away to share with you.

I haven't tried this yet, so if you try it let me know how it worked for you.  Now I want to do a bit of blog reading before getting started on the laundry.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Some Healthful HInts

December 27, 2018

Good morning.  Tis sunny and cold, only 27F degrees here in New England.  I'm glad though, that it is not snow.  At least not until after I can get all the new furnace work done.  This is my second attempt at typing this post.  The first one got all messed up by Blogger (I guess, I can't think of anything I did to cause it.).

Yesterday was a very relaxing day here for Pogo and me.  Aside from washing a few dishes, I didn't really do much of anything.  Today, though, I think I must start attacking the bags of junk mail and catalogues that have been coming in the last few weeks.  There's a lot of them almost every day, so I've just been piling them all into big bags and setting them aside.

I can't put them out in the recycle until I go through them to get rid of all my personal information.   So, guess what I'll be busy doing for a while?  Yup, it's time to get rid of all these bags of junk mail.  Oh joy, oh joy!

Have you noticed how all the junk mail now seems to have your name scattered throughout its content?  You have to look carefully to make sure you get it all.  I do what I can to prevent ID theft.

This is the time of year when many of us are fighting off colds.  I found these tidbits on the web and thought I would share them.

Also, if you catch a stomach flu and start throwing up, this can help.  Get a can of peaches packed in heavy syrup.  Take a tablespoon of just the syrup every 15 minutes for an hour.  If you get sick in between that hour, restart.

So, I'm done babbling.  At least for today.  Before I go let me give you another Christmas quick page.

We're Enjoying The Magic A Little Longer

December 26, 2018

Good morning.  Tis a beautiful sunny day here in New England.  The temperature is 27F degrees, but it may warm up to around 37F degrees later this afternoon.  I've been watching "My Sister's Keeper" on TV. (For about the fourth time)  Next to me is a bag full of wet tissues.  This one is a real tear jerker.  It takes a lot of love and courage to let someone you love go.

Well, Christmas Day has gone by, all the hustle and hub bub.  (how's that for some old time words?}  I have to say that Pogo and I had an awesome day.  We were spoiled wickedly, but we loved it.  Santa Claus brought Pogo a new doggie tent bed.  Pogo loves it!  He has a couple of his new toys inside it, and he spends a lot of time in it.  Sassy gave him the fuzzy green bone.

Does this look like one very happy little camper?  Pogo loves blankets, and Auntie Audrey made this one for him.  It has little Yorkies all over it.

Pogo and I had such fun opening all the wonderful presents.  With each one, he would get excited and sniff it all over.  Even the wrapping paper got a good checking over.  It's such fun watching my little guy.  The joy he gives me is an awesome gift.

Yesterday afternoon I called Deanne on my new Portal and I got to watch everyone opening their gifts.  The great grandchildren were there and they were such fun to watch.  It was wonderful blowing kisses with them.  This Portal was fascinating them as well as me.  This little machine is opening a whole new world for me.

I tried to take a couple of videos to share.  This is one of the cookie tins that DIL Janet brought me.  It was filled with home made cookies.  I love Thomas Kinkade art.  (and Janet's cookies!)

Janet also brings me an animated toy every Christmas.  This year it's a singing snowman.  Watch his mouth moving as he sings.  He's adorable.

Today I'm just going to do a few things around here and mostly relax.  Tomorrow I'll start putting some things away.  Not everything, but some things.  Pogo and I are going to enjoy this Christmas
magic a while longer.

I'm going to call my cousin Ellen this afternoon.  If she's going to be staying at the convalescent place a while longer, I'm going to pay her a visit there this week.  I'll call ahead to see if it's okay to bring Pogo with me.

The mail has come and I need to take some of it out to the house for the dwarfs. I'd like thank everyone for all the wonderful Christmas cards and blessings and gifts.  You really made yesterday special for Pogo and me.  So till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

December 25, 2018

Good morning.  Tis Christmas Day and Pogo and I want to wish everyone a Blessed and Merry Christmas.  First, let me share my Christmas card with you.

Wowsie, wowsie!  Santa Claus stopped by during the night.  It was just a short visit, but oh such a fun visit!  It was really cold outside, so the hot chocolate really was a nice welcome for him.  When we went outside to give the reindeer their carrots and apples, Pogo was such a good boy.  Not one bark!  He ran around, sniffing each reindeer till he recognized them.  Let me tell you, these reindeer are very quiet indeed.  I doubt if any of the dwarfs even heard them here in the yard.

After Santa left, Pogo and I went straight to bed.  Normally we would each open one gift, but not this time.  We were very tired.  However, we did not sleep very long.  I guess the excitement was keeping us awake.  So, around 5 a.m., we got up to have something to eat.

I did open one package.  I've been itching to open my gift from Pogo.  Woo Hoo!  Guess what it is???   It's the brand new PowerShot XS70 HS camera from Canon.  It was just released this month.  Oh boy, this one has wi-fi so I can send photos right to my phone or laptop.  I downloaded the user manual and I'm going to have to spend some time getting familiar with this new little camera.  Folks, I have the bestest doggie in the whole world!!!

Last night, after supper, Deanne and Eddie and the kids came by bearing gifts.  They asked me to open my gift while they were here.  It's a good thing too because it was a brand new tekkie toy for me to learn.  They got me a Portal.  It's a hands free video calling gadget with Alexa built in.  Only you don't call it Alexa.  You call it "Portal."

Deanne set it up for me, and Kevin hooked up the Pandora so I can listen to music on it.  We called Audrey with it (to try it out) and oh wow, such fun!  Plus, I got to watch some of the videos that I uploaded to Facebook.  They look so much nicer on this than on my cell phone.

Today I'm going to be able to share Christmas with Audrey and her friends, and with Deanne and Eddie and their family, including their grandbabies.  If they have the Portal (Deanne & Eddie do) they will be able to see Pogo and me on it and we can see them on ours.  Audrey does not have Portal, but because she has Facebook on her phone, she'll be able to see us on her phone, and we'll see her on our Portal.  Yup, this is going to be fun.

My stepson, Sean, sent me an adorable image last evening.  Sean lives in Florida so this picture is quite fitting.  Oh, what a sight!  How I'd love to see this in person!

It daylight already, and there are lots of presents here for Pogo and I to open.  On that happy note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.  Merry Christmas!

Hugs, Edna B.

Oh Boy, Oh Boy! Tonight's The Night!

December 24, 2018

Good morning.  Are you all excited?  Tonight's the night when dear Santa Claus comes to visit.  I can't wait!  Tonight, while Santa and I are enjoying a hot cup of coffee (or hot chocolate), the reindeer will be by the side of my little porch, munching away on carrots and apples.

You know, his reindeer are quite magical.  Every year, I try to take a photo of them, but the picture never comes out.  It's sort of like only I can see them and my camera can't.  Hmmm, strange!  But then I suppose it's best this way.  We want them to be safe so that they can make it back home by daylight.

I borrowed this image from the web to share with you.  (author unknown)  I think it is really quite beautiful.

Well, what a wonderful day Pogo and I had yesterday.  First, Deanne and Eddie came by and we had a really nice visit.  Before they left, they loaded another batch of packages into their car to deliver for me.  Not long after they left, a car being driven by an elf pulled into the yard.

Yup, DIL Janet was all dressed up (and lit up)  as a Christmas elf.  My goodness, I just had to take a few photos to share.

Pogo was just so fascinated by her sparkly elf boots.  I also took a close up of Janet's Christmas sweater all lit up with flashing lights.

Of course, she brought packages galore for Pogo and me.  Wowsie!  My family spoils us.  I will have to take some photos to share with you.  (I'll save them for tomorrow)   You should see the adorable outfits she brought for Pogo.  He let us try one of them on him, but he wouldn't let me take his photo.  I'll try again later to get a few photos of him in his outfits.

Sometime last evening, while I was snoozing, the copper pans that I had ordered were delivered to my porch.  Goodness, they really are quite nice.  Now I'm going to have to go through all my pans again and get rid of the ones that I don't use to make room for my new pans.

Yesterday, I meant to give you a new Christmas quick page, so I'm posting it today.  Even all our woodland critters are anxiously awaiting Santa's visit.

I just went to take a sip from my Pogo mug, but alas it is empty.  Tis time for me to get a refill and do a bit of blog reading before I do a few things around here.

Before I sign off today, let me just say "Pogo and I are wishing every one of you a wonderful Christmas.  And don't forget to hug your fur babies too!  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Woofs from Pogo, and hugs from me.

Almost Time For Santa Claus

December 23, 2018

Good morning.  Oh my, oh my.  It's almost here!  There's excitement in the air.  It's Christmas time and families and friends are gathering to celebrate.  Are you almost ready for a visit from Santa Claus?  We are.  Pogo has been sniffing packages and checking everything out.

Today, Deanne will come by and pick up the rest of the packages that are going to her house, and to my great grandchildren Jack Jack, Lilah and Alima and their Mom and Dad.  DIL Janet will be coming by sometime today for a visit, and she can take away the bundles that are going to her house.

You'll never guess what I found a few days ago.  A gift that I forgot to put in the package going to me friends in Holland.  I guess I could have just put it away for next year, but it kept nagging on my mind, so I packaged it up and took it to the Post Office.  Then I felt better.

Tomorrow I'll wrap the stuff that Santa left here for the dwarfs, and then late at night I'll tip toe out into the house after every one is asleep and put the packages around the Christmas tree.  I may even treat myself to a glass of Sam Adams Light before it's time to meet the Sandman.

I could not go to visit my cousin Ellen this weekend because I found that she had pneumonia and had been in the hospital.  She was transferred to a convalescent place two days ago.  I did get to call her and we chatted for a while.  Depending on how she is feeling, Pogo and I will try to go visit with her some time between tomorrow and the day after Christmas.

The other day I got the nicest surprise.  When I got home from my errands, there was a bag hanging on my front door handle.  The little note said "open me now."  So I did.  Oh my goodness!!!  Here's what was in the little bag.

Isn't this just beautiful???  I love it.  Thank you Deanne.  This is a gift from Deanne for helping take Jazzy to and from the college.  My coffee tastes extra nice in this beautiful mug!

Now, for the answer to the Cinderella puzzle.  It's the little curly cues to the right of the pumpkin that are missing.  At least that's what I found.

I found a really funny story on Facebook and I just have to share it with you.  If you're a gun owner, this will tickle your fancy.

*****Well, Deanne and Eddie came by and they just left.  DIL Janet just called to say that she's on her way here now so I guess I'll take my leave here.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Last Weekend To Get Ready For Christmas

December 21, 2018

Good morning.  Temps are warm, in the mid fifties, but it is gray and wet outside.  We're supposed to get lots of rain today.  I do have to go out though.  After I take Jazzy to the college, I think I'll stop in at WalMart to pick up a few things.  Then I'll hunker down here at home to get all my last minute things done.

I'd like to make time for a visit with my cousin Ellen before Christmas, plus I'd like to stop in to see an old friend.  I'd like to finish my things today so that I can visit these folks tomorrow.  Even so, I will make the time.  They are important to me.

Deanne came by yesterday afternoon and took a whole batch of wrapped gifts back to her home.  Wowsie, look at all the room I have now!  The packages that I was waiting for arrived later in the day, so today I will finish up the last of my wrapping.  (not Santa's stuff)

Last night, I heard from my burner guy.  The price for all the work on the furnace, hot water heater and electrical will be around $5200.  This is so much better than I was expecting.  The work will be done right after the New Year.  After that, I'll worry about replacing all the plumbing in the basement.  One thing at a time.

Today I have another of Dover's puzzles for you.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.  In this one, you have to find the misfit Cinderella.

I also have another coloring page for you.  It's just a little thing to keep you calm over this wicked busy weekend.  Have fun with it.

I've been watching for the mail carrier.  Every day I watch, but I almost always miss him.  That's not easy folks.  He's a big man.  I want to give him a Christmas card and one of my new calendars.  Well, lucky me!  He just got here and I gave them to him.

Pogo and I are going online today to send some kitty food to our new friends at the kitty shelter.  You just can't imagine how happy this makes us.  I'd also like to send some to a local doggie shelter.  I will look up their address today.

I found this adorable image on the web and just had to share it.  Please folks, if you're thinking about getting a new pet, ADOPT, don't buy!  If you'd like to have a pet, but can't keep one at your home, then go to a local shelter and visit with the animals.  They love having company and getting lots of cuddles.

Now I need a refill for my coffee mug, and I'll do a bit of blog reading before getting started on today's tasks.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have an awesome weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Five More Nights And Santa Will Be Here!

December 20, 2018

Good morning.  Wowee, only five more days till Christmas!  Tis sunny and cold this morning.  Only 27F degrees, but it should warm up to close to 48F degrees.  Wowser!  Not to get too excited though, because it will be dropping right back down to wicked cold again.

I've been up since 5:30 this morning.  I woke up and decided that it would be best to get up and start finishing my wrapping.  So I did, and I'm happy to say that I'm almost done.  Aside from the three gift items that are expected to be delivered today, I have just three more things to wrap.  I will get to that as soon as I've finished this post.  (Of course, I still have to wrap the stuff that Santa dropped off here for the dwarfs.  It will be easy though because he left me bags for these things.)

Yeahhhhhhh!!!  It will be so nice to be able to put all the wrapper stuff away till next year.  And, I'll get back all my space in my kitchen and living room.  Right now, there are large boxes and bags filled with gifts using all my space.  They are pretty though!

Deanne sent me a photo that she found while looking through some of her photos.  This is one of her and me having some Christmas fun.  Thank you Dee Dee, I didn't have this one.  (Deanne is Jazzy's mom.)

I was looking for something yesterday, and came across an envelope full of savings stamps.  How many of you remember these?  How about all the wonderful things that our moms and us got for free just by filling little books with these stamps.

My new issue of Freedom First came a couple of days ago, and I took a photo of the ad for the new book on gun laws, state by state.  This is a must for every gun owner, and the price is very reasonable.  Only $14.95.

A few days ago, I had a request for more information about my personal generator.  I purchased it from HSN for $499.95.  I posted information and a photo in my Sept. 1, 2018 blog post.  If there is a Harbor Freight Tools store near you, you can find a similar generator there.  They have different sizes for different prices.  They also have a web site: HarborFreight.com.

Today I have another coloring page for you.  Let's not forget the reason for the season.   (This is one of my favorite Christmas Carols.)

Now I want to refill my coffee cup and do a bit of blog reading before I get back to my wrapping.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Georgie Porgie, That's Me

December 19, 2019

Good afternoon.  Wowsie, I got up early because the burner guy was coming by to give me an estimate on the plumbing in the basement.  Well, I'm getting an estimate, but it won't be for the plumbing.
It seems that my burner is leaking from underneath it.  The leak comes from inside.  It's a "has to be fixed now" problem.  It means, need new furnace,  Also, the hot water heater has to be replaced too.  I don't need to tell you that I almost choked on that news!

I could be looking at figures around the ten thousand dollar mark.  The burner guy called the company that made the furnace, and there's a chance some of the work might be covered by a warranty.  We'll see.  He will let me know as soon as he finds out what is what.  Yeesh!  That plumbing estimate is just going to have to wait a bit.  The furnace always comes first .

You know, it's a good thing my hubby was always a very organized person.  The manufacturing company wants something to prove that I was the owner of this house before the furnace was purchased in 2008.  That meant I had to find an old tax bill from the year 2007.  I put my hand into a bag of old bills, and pulled out some paid 2007 real estate tax bills.  Just call me "Georgie Porgie."  Stuck in my thumb, and pulled out a plum.

With all this jolly news under my belt, I left to get Jazzy and take her to the college.  She will have to call Uber to take her home after her classes.  Actually, she is taking finals all this week.  I have tons of stuff to do.  When I got home from the college, I started right in on my wrapping.  So that's what I'm doing now (before I sat down to type this post).  I'm up to my elbows in wrapping paper, ribbons, tags, tissue paper and boxes.

Obviously, I haven't had a chance to sit down and play on my laptop.  So, I don't have a new quick page for today.  But I do have an old scrap kit that I can give you.  There are two quick pages included in the kit.  This kit is my part of a collab kit that I made with my friend Suruha,   It is fun and might help take your mind off the winter weather.

Here are your download links:  (any problems, let me know)

Here is the answer to yesterday's puzzle.  There is a button missing from the mole's jacket. (bottom left corner of original puzzle)

The answer to Monday's puzzle might have been a bit confusing.  The correct answer shoe is the second one down on the right (of the original puzzle).  It is missing the tag on the back of the shoe.  Sorry if I confused you.

Now I really must get back to my wrapping.  I'm hoping to get it all finished by tonight or tomorrow.  Wish me luck!  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

P.S.  Silly me, it wasn't Georgie Porgie who stuck his thumb in his pie, it was Little Jack Horner.

My $2 Light Comes To The Rescue!

December 18, 2018

Good morning.  My goodness it is cold here.  My car has a layer of snow on it and the big puddle at the end of the driveway is frozen solid.  During the night, the wind howled away, and somehow blew out the electric power, at least on our street.

Aha!  But I have my little personal generator to keep my oxygen running, and a couple of LED light switches that I had bought at Harbor Freight Tools (because they were on sale for $2).  They stick on the wall with Velcro.  Just flip the "on" switch and the room lights up.

I dug out my latest electric bill to find the phone number to call, and then I reported the outage.  Then I made a cup of coffee and settled in to do a "Find A Word" puzzle.  At ten minutes to five a.m., the lights came back on.  I checked to make sure the furnace had come back on, and then it was back to sleepy time for me and Pogo.

Last evening, I watched a program on PBS that I had recorded.  I love k.d. Lang's music, and this was a concert she performed in San Antonio, Texas.  She sang the whole album, "Constant Craving."  Oh wow!  She could have sang Mother Goose stories, and I'd have been enthralled.  I just love listening to her sing.  The range in her voice sometimes makes the hairs on my arm stand right up.  You know I saved it so that I can watch it again.

Did you all guess which elf shoe was the different one?  Here's the answer.  It was the shoe in the upper right hand corner.  I love these puzzles because they keep my brain working.

Today I have another puzzle for you and another page to color.  Some of us have a lot of stress these days, and I'm hoping the coloring will help to lessen some of that stress.

These are both freebies from Dover Publications.  Have fun with them.  I'll post the puzzle answer tomorrow.

While I've been sitting here typing, the mail carrier came with two more packages that I've been waiting for.  Awesome!  Two more gifts that I can get wrapped!  Oh my gosh, there's a light on at the end of the wrapping tunnel!  I have just one more gift to buy and I am done.  Done, done, done!

Enough of my chit chat.  If I don't get to that wrapping stuff I'll find a reason not to do it at all.  That said, I'm off to refresh my coffee cup and do a bit of blog reading before I get started.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Just Seven More Days Till Christmas Eve

December 17, 2018

Good morning.  Wow, Christmas is only a week away.  I just can't get over how quickly it came upon us this year.  I'm just waiting for a last few packages to come in the mail.  Then I'll be done.  I did wrap a couple gifts yesterday, and I'll do more of them today in between doing a few other things.

Pogo has been extra cuddly lately.  I think he knows that Santa is going to be here next week, and he probably thinks I'll tell him what Santa is bringing for him.  Not happening, my little man!  You'll have to wait till Christmas Day just like me.

****I've taken a break to go pick up Jazzy and take her to the college, and I'm back home now.  Pogo has had his lunch and now he's on his little sofa to have a nap.  One of the packages I've been waiting for has arrived, so I'm going to wrap it's contents as soon as I've finished posting this.

When Pogo and I were leaving this morning, I almost missed this cute little squirrel hiding in plain sight.  I'm not sure what he was hiding from, but I thought it was pretty cool.  I did the best I could to get a photo with my phone.  It's not the greatest, but you can see my little buddy doing a great job of hiding.

Oh wow!  Two more packages just arrived.  One is a pattern book that I ordered, and the other one must be the one Pogo has been waiting for.  Hmmm, I'll have to wrap it to cut down on the temptation to have a peek.  I'll do that before I leave to get Jazzy.

Today I have a puzzle for you.  This one is from Dover Publications.  If you go to their web site and sign up, you can receive all sorts of wonderful freebies from them.  Have fun with the puzzle. I'll publish the answer tomorrow.

I also have a Christmas coloring page from Dover to share.  Coloring is very relaxing and fun to do.

Now I want to do a bit of blog reading and get that package wrapped.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

A Relaxing Rainy Day

December 16, 2018

Good morning.  I'm sorry I wasn't here on Friday.  I was just so busy all day, and by the time I finally had a chance to sit down and write a post, it was too late in the day.  I wrapped and packaged everything that needed to be mailed out.  Yesterday, Joe helped me take it all to the Post Office and mail it.

This is my Pogo last Friday night once we had a chance to get comfy in my chair and watch a bit of TV.  He was snuggled in the blanket on my lap, and off to dreamland.

After all the "mailer" stuff was out of the house, I actually caught myself wrapping something.  Hmmm, I must be finally getting in the mood.  I actually have more room now in my living room and my kitchen now that a lot of the Christmas stuff is out of there.

Today I think I'm going to do a bit of wrapping, then I'm going to relax and watch a Christmas movie.  Or maybe I'll just play on my laptop for a while.  I need to fill up my quick page folder.  Speaking of quick pages, I do have a new Christmas page for you today.  Have some fun with it.

Temps today are in the low forties and it's been raining all day.  But hey, it's better than being buried in snow.   I've been outside checking to see if the new gutters are stopping the rain from dripping down on to the front porch steps.  They are, but some of the rain is dripping between the house and the gutter and coming down to the ground.  I'm going to order some white Flex Seal to see if that will help.

I'm thinking that I should start a load of laundry before I start any fun stuff.  Although I do enjoy doing laundry.  It's the only household chore I can  do and have it actually show that I accomplished something.

We have a new dwarf in the house now, so I think I'll go out into the house to make sure he's all set before I start in on my chores.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

God Bless Bag Balm

December 13, 2018

Good morning.  Tis gray and cold here, just 22F degrees.  It's to be expected though with Winter only eight days away.  Ever notice how Winter always seems to come early and leave very late?  Hmm. it doesn't seem fair, does it?  I'd rather have Spring come early and have Autumn stay longer.

Well, I finally made it to the Post Office yesterday with a batch of boxes, padded envelopes and Christmas cards.  Joe carried everything in for me.  Thank you, I really appreciate this help very much.

I don't have to go out today, so I think I'll finish up the rest of the boxes that need to be mailed, and then I'll get started on the local wrapping.  Woo Hoo!  I think I'm okay now!  I'm even starting to get in the Christmas spirit.  You know, I guess I could buy less stuff or make fewer things for gifts, but Christmas has always been a time when I like to go overboard.  It makes my heart happy, so I guess I'll probably never change.

That surprise gift that Pogo ordered for me is supposed to arrive next Monday.  Pogo has already laid down the law.  I'm not to even think of opening the box before Christmas.  This is going to be a tough one for me.  I am very nosey.  Plus I will be on pins and needles waiting to see what is in the box.  Pogo is smart though, and will be keeping a close eye on me, I'm sure.

Last night, Pogo's little behind was itching and irritated, and Pogo was very uncomfortable.  He just couldn't get comfortable any where.  Finally, I took him into the bathroom and put a thick coating of Bag Balm on his little hiney, and then I gave him some Children's Benadryl.   After that, he was able to curl up in his blankets and fall asleep.  (Sadly, I think I waited too long to get him to the groomer to have his little sac emptied.  I won't make that mistake again!)  This morning, he is lying next to me, all curled up in his blanket.

Today I have a set of quick pages that I made for a collaboration kit many years ago.  I hope you can use them.  If there is a problem with the link, let me know and I'll re-upload them and get a new link.

I came across an ad yesterday for a great sale on copper pans.  They were $8 a piece, with free shipping.  So I looked it up and was able to get a few of the pans I've been wanting.  The website is copperchefdeals.com.

Now I think I'm going to make a fresh cup of coffee and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

I Can Be Very Sappy At Times

December 12, 2018

Good afternoon.  I did not get much sleep last night, so I slept as late as possible this morning before it was time to get Jazzy and take her to the college.  When I got home, I started right in getting a few more things ready for mailing.

Yesterday, I got four boxes packed and ready to be mailed.  This morning, I got a batch of calendars and a few more Christmas cards ready for mailing.  Joe said that he would go to the Post Office with me later this afternoon and carry all the bundles into the Post Office for me.

I had planned on going to the Post Office yesterday afternoon, but Pogo needed to see his groomer.  His little sac needed to be emptied and his toe nails needed to be cut.  I'll call after Christmas and make an appointment for his haircut.

My place is looking quite chaotic right now.  There are things everywhere waiting to be wrapped, and bags of wrapping paper and tape and labels are just waiting to be used.  I'm getting there!  I'm focusing first on anything that has to go in the mail.  After that, I'll wrap everything that is staying local.

I got another Christmas box in the mail.  This one is from my friends Mary Ann and Gene in Wisconsin.  Pogo and I are being good though, and will wait until Christmas to see what it is.  He sniffed the box all over and decided that we could keep it.  Gosh, he's such a good boy!!

I did not have time to work on my quick pages this week, but I will try to have something for you tomorrow.  I haven't even had a chance to put up any Christmas lights on my porch yet.  One of these years I'm going to take my own advice and start my wrapping and decorating early.

My friend Cliff sent me a photo of his house all decorated for Christmas.  He has a beautiful big tree in his front yard and he finally got the lights strung on it.  Cliff, your tree is beautiful.

While I was looking through a box of photos a few days ago, I came across a poem I wrote for my daughter Audrey many years ago.  None of us, including me, had ever flown in a plane.  My daughter Audrey had been invited to spend the whole summer in Norway and Sweden with a couple of the exchange students we had taken in.

I was wicked happy for my daughter, but I was petrified at the same time.  The plane ride is a long one, and my children had never been so far away from me, and on their own.  So until the phone call came saying that she had arrived safely, I was a nervous wreck and quite melancholy.  The night she left, I sat down and wrote her a poem.

I wonder if all parents get like me, all sappy and nervous when our little ones take their first steps out into the world without us.  My daughter had a fantastic summer!  The families of the exchange students were ever so good to her and treated her like one of their own.  My other kids got to go on plane trips too, and I was all sappy for them too.  Sheesh!  I guess it's a mommy thing.

Now I want to catch up on a bit of blog reading before I leave to pick up Jazzy and bring her home.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I'm Wicked Busy Today

December 11, 2018

Good morning.  Tis sunny and the temperature is sixteen F degrees, with hopes of getting as high as thirty seven degrees later today.

Well, I tried uploading a video first thing this morning, and it worked!  So I'm posting a video right away.  This one is of Paris, the owner of the Cabaret, singing Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.  Thanks to this wonderful lady, we all get to enjoy ourselves with an evening of good folks, good food and the awesome Starliners.

It has abruptly hit my brain that Christmas is only two weeks away.  This can't be!  I still have so much to get ready for the mail.  So, I guess that today I shall be busy all day trying to accomplish this very task.

Hopefully, I'll be able to make one trip to the Post Office later today when Joe gets home from work.  I'll need help carrying things into the Post Office.   I have a couple more things to wrap and the biggest box will be ready to go.  I don't think I've ever been this late with my mailings before.  Maybe next year I should hire someone to come wrap things for me.  (Wow!  What a great idea!)

Daughter Audrey sent me the cutest photo of Alena and Santa Claus.  This is beautiful, Audrey.  Thank you for sharing.

Daughter Deanne came by yesterday afternoon and helped me a bit to find my way around Facebook and YouTube.  I don't know why I have so much trouble with these two, but I appreciate all the help I get.

A few days ago, I was looking for a photo and I came across a rather old memory.  Do you remember (many moons ago) the milkman delivering milk right to your door?  Well this is a photo of our milkman, George, and the little boy (Lenny) who lived across the street.  The photo was probably taken in 1954 or 1955.

I'll have to dig out more of my old photos to post here because I want to leave a lot of these old memories for my family.  Once they are on my blog, then printed to books, they are history.

I'm thinking ahead to New Year's Eve, and I think my resolution for next year will be to start doing some new fun things before getting busy on new projects.  Things like drawing, painting, making music CD's (for me) and whatever other mischief I can think of.

I think today I can let Pogo use my laptop to order that surprise gift for me.  It will be a combination Birthday/Christmas gift.  He won't tell me what it is so I guess I'll just have to wait till after Santa comes by on Christmas Eve.

Now I think I need to get busy here.  I want to have some boxes ready for mailing later today.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Technology Is Beginning To Frustrate Me

December 10, 2018

Good morning.  The sun is shining and the temperature is twenty degrees F.  It may warm up to the mid thirties in a few hours.  Gosh, I hope so.  I am so not a winter bunny.  Neither is Pogo.  We are warm weather bunnies.

I'm not sure what Pogo and I are up to today.  First we'll take Jazzy to the college, and maybe we'll do a bit of shopping on the way home.  It all depends on whether or not it warms up a bit by then.  Or maybe we'll just come right home and find some mischief to get into.

I really did not do very much over the weekend.  Even my crocheting was neglected.  I did however, watch some really nice Christmas movies on TV.  They always seem to have a happy ending.  I did work on making QP's for a little while yesterday.  I need to spend more time doing this because I find it very relaxing.

After I finished posting yesterday, I realized that I did not post a new quick page here.  So I'm posting one today.

Later on I want to try uploading a few more videos from the Holiday Show to my Facebook page.  It was a Christmas show and I realized that I had not posted any of the Christmas songs.  So that's what I'll do this afternoon.  Meanwhile, I'll try to upload a couple  of them here.

I'm not sure what I'm doing but I finally managed to get one video over here.   I have just spent more than an hour trying to upload another video, but first I have to find it.  Once I uploaded it to YouTube, it disappeared.  As soon as I figure out what I'm doing wrong, I'll post another video.

I'm annoyed with myself now so I'd best stop here and have a cup of coffee or something.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.
