Oh Dear! That's Not Snow, Is It?

February 26, 2011
*
Oh boy, oh boy!! This is our last day before we leave for vacation. Tootsie knows something is up but she's not sure what so she clings to my legs to make sure she is included. Poor baby, I wish she could speak English so I could put her mind to rest.
*
I got the call yesterday that my new car is in, so today I will go to pick it up. Woo Hoo! Am I excited? Yup yup!! Of course, I will take some photos when I get it back home here. Unfortunately, I won't have much time to play with it. I have one more load of laundry to do later this afternoon. Then I can pack my jeans and my suitcase will be ready to go.
*
Su just sent me the new logo for our March kit, so you can guess what we will be working on come Monday. Only this time it will be even more fun. We can do it together. Su is very smart when it comes to design and Photoshop, so I'm looking forward to learning a lot from her.
*
I almost forgot - guess what it did here last night? Want a hint?
*

Did you say snow? You're right! But thank goodness we only got a little bit. However, I heard the weatherman say something about more snow for either tonight or tomorrow. Here's hoping it waits until I get this sorry body of mine to Florida.
*
So now I'm off. Got lots to do, and I want to catch up on my favorite blogs. I will try to post tomorrow morning before we leave. Or maybe I can make a small post tonight. After that, everything will depend on whether or not the internet has been put into my condo. So till we next chat, Y'all have a great day.

A Gray Rainy Day Here In New England

February 25, 2011
*
Good morning. At the moment, it's gray and raining, and about 32 degrees F. Of course, there are lots of puddles everywhere from melting snow. I just hope the rain doesn't melt all of it. We need a slow melt so that our basements don't get flooded.
*
I'm at work so this may be a rather short post. I still have so much to do before I leave for Florida so I'll be leaving here early today. Yesterday, I did get my box mailed out, paid a couple more bills, and did my banking.
*
I never did find the title to my car, so I applied for a new one. Now that's all set. And of course, my day wouldn't be complete if I didn't manage to lose something else. This time it was my spare car key. You know some days I am really bad. It wasn't until bedtime that I found it. It had fallen from my pocket onto my bed and slipped under a coverlet.
*
After chatting a bit with Su, we decided to change the theme of the March kit altogether. The one we had originally picked was too much of a challenge to finish in such a short time. I can assure you though, that the new one will be really nice.
*
In all the hub bub, I wasn't able to take any new photos, so I dug out a couple photos of my Florida birds from last year. Here are a couple of pigeons. I know they can be a pesky bird at times, but their coloring is just beautiful.
*

Gosh, just think. In 48 hours Tootsie and I will be on our way to Boston to catch a plane to Florida. This will be Tootsie's first plane ride and I'm hoping it goes well. In case you have forgotten, she has a bit of a gas problem. Most likely, she will perfume the air on the plane with her special sort of perfumery. It will be a bit embarrassing, so if it does happen, I will just make it look like the person in front of me did it. This promises to be an interesting flight.
*
Now I must get busy here. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Glory Be! Another Gorgeous Day Today!

February 24, 2011,
*
Oh boy, it's looking gorgeous outside my window. The sun is so bright and I'm hoping that a bit of yesterday's nice temperatures will be with us today too. I have a gazillion things to do before I leave on Sunday morning.
*
Yesterday, Tootsie's new carrier finally showed up. It's a pink soft sided one, and she fits just fine in it. I won't say she is thrilled with it, but it fits and it's going with us!!! We also got her health certificate and a new supply of meds.
*
Today, I have to get to the post office, and then to the Registry of Motor Vehicles to apply for a new title to my car. For some reason, I can't find the one I have, and I just can't beat myself up anymore looking for it. I have to turn it over to the dealership when I pick up my new car.
*
After that, I will be down to the laundry and packing part for the trip. I still have to work tomorrow. I wanted to take the day off, but I haven't been able to find coverage for my shift. Oh well, I'll make it.
*
I'm watching the weather channel, and it says we will hit the mid 40's today. Super!!! Right now, it's climbed up to about 36 degrees F. Here's a view of the thermometer a little earlier this morning.

While I'm out today, I'll see about taking some new photos. I've been a bit lax in that area these past few days. But wait till I get to Florida!!! There will be photos galore!!
*
It's time now for me to get busy and start my day. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Big Red New Baby Coming!!!

February 23, 2011
*
Good morning. Yesterday proved to be quite an eventful day for Tootsie and me. To start with, Tootsie was not supposed to eat or drink anything in the morning before having her blood work done. I got home right after she polished off three chicken strip treats.
*
So I waited till about 8:30 and called the hospital to see about rescheduling. Well, surprise, surprise. Seems the doctor had forgotten about this appointment and had gone on vacation. I have to say that Miss Tootsie was thrilled! We will reschedule the test for later in March, but today we will go in for a check up and get her health certificate that is required for plane travel.
*
After lunch, Eddie and Jasmine came by, and we went car shopping. I sort of knew what car I wanted and the color, but it would take a few hours of haggling with the salesman to come to an acceptable price. Eventually, we agreed upon a price, and papers were signed. Now he will put in my order and call me when the car comes in.
*
Because he did not have the color that I wanted, I downloaded a picture from the web to show what our new big baby will look like when she arrives.
*

It's a garnet red Hyundai GL. And what a beauty she is!! She will either arrive shortly before I leave for Florida, or as soon as I return home. So the timing is pretty good. Now I just have to get my fanny outside and clean out my car. (I traded it in towards the new one.) My car has been very good to me, so I hope her new owner will treat her nice.
*
Now I think Tootsie and I will have an early lunch. We have lots to do before Saturday night. That's when we pack the last things into the suitcase. We leave early Sunday morning. Woo Hoo!! I'm starting to get excited about this trip. Who knows? Maybe when I get back home, all the snow will be gone too.
*
Well, that's it for today. Time for me to get busy here. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

So Much To Do, So Little Time

February 22, 2011
*
Good morning. It looks like we may have some sun this morning. I'm not sure yet because it's still a bit early. At least it is not snowing!! Woo Hoo!! This will be a short post because Tootsie has two doctor appointments this morning. (Blood work to see how the new meds are doing.) Then I have to get some papers from her doctor that we will need for our trip.
*
It will be around noon before we get home, and after lunch my son in law is taking me to look at cars. Yesterday, we decided not to go because we didn't know how much snow we would be getting. Fortunately, we only got a couple of inches.
*
I took some photos of the new snow blossoms forming on the hedge outside my window. Actually, I was trying to get close ups of the snowflakes. However, I still have a lot to learn and this is what I got.
*
Oh well, nothing spectacular but then some days are like that! The beauty of the snow blossom is that it is only there for an hour or so, then it's gone.
*
That's it for now. I will be leaving to go home (I'm still at work) in a short while. If anything spectacular happens I will try to make a short post later. Otherwise, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
*

It's Snowing Again - So What Else Is New?

February 21, 2011
*
Yessiree! It started snowing sometime during the night, and it's still coming down. Hopefully, it will stop before it gets to the six inch mark. I'm supposed to go looking at cars this morning, but I'm not crazy about test driving anything in the snow.
*
Lately, there haven't been so many little birds around the feeders at work, and I think I found out why. Friday, while looking out the kitchen window, I saw what looked like a large bird in one of the trees out back. I took some photos, and surprise, surprise. It was a Hawk. (At least, that's what it looks like to me.) Given the distance, and shooting through the window, the photos aren't too bad.
*

Last night, I did manage to finish up something for the March Blog Train. No peeks yet though. This week, I want to finish up our March collab kit so that I can go on vacation with a clear conscience. I also paid all the bills coming due in the next two or three weeks. Except, of course, for the fuel oil. For this, I will have to leave a check with someone because I pay it when it is delivered.
*
This morning, Su and I are posting our last two parts to "My Fair Lady." It was lots of fun working on this kit, and I hope you all are enjoying it.
*
Here are the download links to my Parts 5 & 6.
*
*
When you are finished downloading, hop on over to Miss Su's blog and pick up her last two parts. Don't forget to stop for a moment to say thank you.
*
Now it's time to give Tootsie her morning meds, and maybe have a cup of coffee. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Purple Frost

February 20, 2011
*
It's a cold and sunny morning here in my little part of New England. The wind is still blowing, just not quite so hard. Old man Winter is definitely not giving up without a good fight. Tootsie and I are counting down the days till our plane leaves for Florida. Just seven days!!! The time is really flying by now, and I haven't even started packing. So much to do, so little time!!
*
I'm feeling a bit guilty about not doing much designing on the laptop lately. For some reason, I just can't seem to get in the mood. I don't know if it's the winter blahs or just brain burn out. Yeah, that's it, must be brain burn out. Once I get to the land of sunshine and warmth, my brain should be working much better.
*
Speaking of Florida, I hope the internet has finally been installed in our condos by the time I get there. Every year, they promise to have it in within a year, but the years keep going by and no internet. The manager assures me that they are doing their best to have it hooked up by the time I get there. We shall see. They told me the same thing last year!
*
Today's photo is one that I took a couple of weeks ago. It's a close up of frost on a branch, and I find it very interesting. I added the purple tones to bring out the beauty of all the tiny crystals. Before taking this photo, I never realized how pretty the frost really is.
*
This past week, I bought some seed starter pots, but I think it's still a bit too soon to plant any flower seeds. I'm just getting a bit anxious to plant some of my seeds that Kyra gave me. I also got a couple of new upside down planter pots that I'm going to use for tomatoes and strawberries. That is, if the snow and cold ever goes away!
*
Now it's time for me to do a few things around here. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

I'll Huff And I'll Puff, And I'll Blow Your House Down

February 19, 2011
*
Remember the story of the three little pigs and the big bad wolf? Well it feels as if that big bad old wolf has been a huffing and a puffing all night long and all day today. He's just not going to stop until he has either blown the house down or everything in the yard out into the street.
*
Last night after supper, the rains came. Then the lightning started and next came the thunder crashes. This went on for quite a while. At one point I took my camera outside on the porch to see if I could get a photo, but all I got was cold and wet.
*
I'm listening to the weatherman's forecast for the next few days. It's not pretty. And to make matters worse, we have more snow coming on Monday. March is supposed to come in like a lion and go out like a lamb. This year, Old Man Winter came in like a lion, and is going out the same way.
*
Last night, two Jet Blue airplanes were struck by lightning while in the sky, and had to make emergency landings at Logan Airport in Boston. Oh boy! Guess what airline Tootsie and I are flying on? Yup yup! Jet Blue! Gosh, I hope all my angels fly with us on our trip.
*
Also in the news, they discovered a nude burglar in a senior complex in Florida. Seems the over 60 gent enjoyed walking around in the buff while he did his burgling. However, the security cameras got him on tape, and he was soon arrested.
*
At work yesterday, the bird feeders were quite busy. Here are a few of the photos that I took. It's so good to see all the little birds coming back. For a while there, only a few were coming around.
*
Now I think I'll have me another cup of coffee before I have to head out to the post office. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a great day.
*

Robins Already?

February 18, 2011
*
It's a gorgeous sunny morning, and not very cold. Today is supposed to hit 55F, and that's it for the warm temps for a while. But that's okay because Spring is surely not too far behind. This past Monday morning as I was leaving work, I spotted a few birds way up in a tree top and took a couple of photos. Well dang it!! I think they just might have been Robins. Have a look.
*
When I zoom in really close, they get very fuzzy, BUT, they have reddish coloring on the breast. So maybe, just maybe, Spring will be here in the next month or so. We still have mounds of snow everywhere that is anywhere from 2 to 5 feet high.
*
Yesterday I started my countdown list of things to do and pack for next weekend. As for Tootsie's carrier, I've decided on just a plain regular type for on the plane, and I'll take her stroller with us. This weekend, I will pack a box to ship ahead to Florida so that it will be waiting for us when we get there. It's a lot easier to do this then to try to handle two suitcases.
*
Today, I have another freebie QP for you. It's the same as QP-056, but the background is plainer. This will probably make it much easier to use with your photographs. I hope you can use it.
*
EB-QP - 057

Here is the download link.

The Fresh Air Did Me In

February 17, 2011
*
Good morning. Gosh it's so late! Tootsie and I were up at 4 am so that she could use her potty papers, but then we went back to bed. And boy oh boy, did I sleep!!
*
It must have been from all that fresh air yesterday. Eddie took me out to do a bit of car shopping. Oh my, what a huge surprise the price tags were. I did find a couple that I really liked, but oh those price tags!!! I guess I'm going to have to sit down and re-figure what I am looking for, and then try again.
*
Yesterday, I had a comment that the icicle photo looked doctored a bit in Photoshop. You are absolutely correct. However, what I did was to adjust the color levels and sharpen it just a tiny bit. I don't really understand how to use all of the things that are on my camera, so lots of times what I see in the viewfinder is not quite what I get for a photo. I'm referring to things like ISO, White Balance, F-Stops, etc.
*
Plus, at work, I am almost always shooting through one or two panes of glass that have not been cleaned on the outside for quite a while. Therefore when I look at an icicle that the sun is making a color play on, it sometimes looks a bit washed out on the actual photo. Keep in mind, I try never to change the original photo, just brighten it a bit. Here is another photo to show what I mean.
*
This is what came from the camera.

This one has had the color levels adjusted.
And this one has been sharpened just a tad.
*
Most all of my photos are hand held. I don't usually have my tripod with me. However, I use "continuous shoot" most of the time. This way, I know I am bound to get some decent photos, along with a few nice surprises. So there you have it. Icicles are just not the easiest thing to photograph. But like most photographers, I have Photoshop to help me bring out the best in some photos.
*
Maybe after I get back from vacation, I will take some time out for me and either enroll in a photography school, or a good camera club. By then, the taxes, and all the other pressing things will be done with.
*
That's all for this morning. (Gee whiz! It's almost time to make Tootsie's lunch!!) I did try taking a few photos of Tootsie in her new carrier, but she will not get into it. She just does not like this smaller one. So, I'll have to come up with another plan. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Got My Mojo Running This Morning

February 16, 2011
*
Good morning. I think the sun is supposed to come out but so far it hasn't shown it's cheery face. Boo Hoo. My energy level is so in need of sunshine and warmth. On TV, they are having a program to exclaim about the high costs of the winter storms that we've had so far. So far, all they are mentioning are the costs to the cities and towns, and the state and federal costs.
*
Yoo Hoo! What about the people? Not everyone earns six figure incomes. Lots of folks still only earn less than $20,000 a year. Now with fuel costing roughly $7,000 to $10,000 for the winter, where does this leave the little folks? With Mr. O's blessings, most of these little folks are not able to get any subsidiaries to help with the cost of the heating fuel.
*
So tell me, why are the governments complaining about the costs? Do I need to say it? I think it's because every dollar that has to go toward paying storm costs is another dollar that could have gone into their pockets and benefit packages. They don't work all that hard, and they make extremely handsome salaries with fantastic benefits. Most of the little folks are working their fannies off just trying to make ends meet.
*
Time to get off my band box. It's not good to get me going about the politics at play here. I like to keep my blood pressure at a healthy level. I think today I will go out for a while with my son in law and look at some cars. That should keep this old bird calm and happy.
*
How about a photo? I think I'll just post this one and let you figure out what it is.
*
Have you figured it out yet? Want a hint? It's cold. Need another one? It was wet when I took the photo. One more? Okay. The sun was bouncing off it too. You got it, right? Yup, it's an icicle up close and personal.
*
Okay, now I need to make another cup of coffee, give Tootsie her meds, and take some pix of her in her new pink carrier. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a great day.
*

Lots To Do In The Next Ten Days

February 15, 2011
*
Oh dear, it's back to the cold stuff today. Only 25 degrees F. Amazing. Out of a whole week, this is the only day that is not going to be in the 30's, 40's and even 50's. Even if my flowers could come up, they wouldn't know whether to bloom or hide. Not to worry though, there's still a good four feet of frozen snow on top of them.
*
So did Y'all enjoy some extra special attention from your loved ones? My roses have gone by now, but oh my they were simply devine. Tootsie's new carrier arrived yesterday. It's the same as the big one, just smaller. She hasn't decided yet whether or not she's as excited about this one as she was with the bigger one. I'll take some pictures of her in it today.
*
Tootsie also has to try on her new clothes that we bought for her vacation. A girl's gotta look spiffy when she's enjoying the sun in Florida. I think we'll start setting aside the things we're going to pack in the suitcase. After all, our plane leaves in less than two weeks. Oh wow! Only ten or eleven days left before we go!!
*
How about a birdie photo? I took this one last week, and it shows two little yellow finches enjoying a friendly chat with their lunch.
*
So, how did it go yesterday in court? What a waste of my time and the court's time. The other people's lawyer started out by telling the judge that they were not expecting me to show up, so they were a bit surprised. When the judge asked him exactly how much money was involved, he couldn't come up with a figure as he was just assuming. We will be back in court in a month, unless of course, the other people smarten up and decide to leave me alone as there really is no money. We'll see.
*
Now I have to buckle down and get busy on my March projects. I have not been doing very much designing on my laptop lately. Gosh! So much to do, so little time! Before I go, let me share what they are showing at the moment on the TV. In Alabama (I think that's state) a couple was celebrating their 81st wedding anniversary yesterday. God bless them!!! Can you imagine 81 years with the same man? (or woman) Better yet, living long enough to get all dressed up to go out to celebrate it? Oh my!
*
On that note, I'm going to make a cup of coffee and do a bit of blog hopping. Till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a magnificent day.
*

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

February 14, 2011
*
Good morning, and Happy Valentine's Day. Today is a day for lovers, flowers and red heart shaped boxes filled with chocolates. Mmmmmm! It's also a great day for doing random acts of kindness to unsuspecting strangers. Ever tried this? It's really fun, folks. I do it all the time, and usually it makes the stranger quite happy. Although I must say, sometimes they will just look at me funny as though I've lost my marbles.
*
I'm still at work, so let's get right to the photos. I know squirrels can be pesky, but they need to eat too. And some days, they really have to work hard to get their food. Just watch this little fellow.
*

Today is also the time to post two more parts to "My Fair Lady" but it's almost time for me to pack up and go home so that will have to wait just a little bit. I'll be back shortly.
*
*
I'm back at home now. Gosh, I have a busy day ahead. This morning, I have to clean out Moo's computer desk and put it in someone else's room so that it can be used again. Then I have to get ready to go to court. No, I'm not in trouble. My daughter Kerri died in an automobile accident five years ago, and the folks in the other car are still trying to sue for more money. For some reason, they seem to think that she left a huge financial cache, and they want it. Surprise!! There's no money. I do wish they would leave me alone.
*
If there is time after that, I would like to stop a car dealership and look at a few cars. But that will depend on the time. Meanwhile, Tootsie will stay at home here with one of the dwarfs. It's supposed to be nice out today, but still not warm enough to leave her in the car for very long. I feel better with her at home.
*
Now for your next two parts of "My Fair Lady."

Here are your links for Parts 3 & 4.
*
*
Now you want to mosey on over to Miss Su's blog and pick up two more parts from her. Don't forget to take a moment to say thank you.
*

Now I'm off to get Tootsie her morning meds, and get started here. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day. And don't forget to do something nice and unexpected for someone.

Even Tootsie Has A Blue Funk Once In A While

February 13, 2011
*
Good morning, and although the skies are becoming a very pretty blue, it's still quite cloudy at the moment. But no big deal. In a little while, Miss Tootsie and I will turn in and have ourselves a nice nap. Got to be full of energy for work tonight.
*
I'm a bit concerned about my Tootsie. She has not been eating very well yesterday and so far today. Plus, I know she was not a bit thrilled about having a bath and hair do yesterday. Here's hoping she snaps out of her blue funk really soon.
*
Friday morning around 11 am, I had another chance at some deer photos. Across the street from work, there were two deer romping through the snow in the open field. I grabbed my camera and ran outside. These deer were much farther away, but the photos are still pretty good.
*

Before I begin to post the freebie that I promised you, I want to tell you about another blog that you might want to go check out. It is written by The Queen Jester, a friend of a friend, who is traveling with her hubby and their furry cat, She Devil. This lady has such a magnificent and humorous writing style that you won't want to miss it. Make yourself a cup of coffee and head on over to "Life In A Canned Ham."
*
Next up here is your freebie for today. This one is a bit on the Springy side to help chase away some of the "snow blues." Enjoy.
*
"EB - QP - 056"
And here is your download link for "EB - QP 056"
*
*
It's time to give Tootsie her morning meds, and then I think we will head for the bedroom and that nice warm cozy little bed of ours and have ourselves a nap. Don't forget to come back tomorrow to pick up the next two parts of "My Fair Lady" from me and Su. Till then, Y'all stay warm and have a fantabulous day.

A Trip To The Beauty Salon For Tootsie

February, 12, 2011
*
Good morning. It's mostly cloudy at the moment, but WOOHOO! It's going to be another "heat wave" day. The weatherman is saying "scattered flurries" and a high of 40 degrees F. I just can't see the flurries happening if the temp goes up to 40.
*
This is good weather for Miss Tootsie and me because we have to go out in a little while. Tootsie has an appointment at her beauty salon, and I have a couple of errands to do while I'm waiting for her.
*
Remember I told you yesterday about stopping to take some photos of a family of deer? Well, here are those photos. The deer all look as though they are trying to figure out what in the world I am doing with that funny thing stuck on my eye!! (camera) Aren't they just gorgeous?
*
Folks, it doesn't take a lot to make me happy. Just being able to get photos like this makes me quite pleased with myself and life. Watching my little Tootsie running up to me with licks and a wagging tail when I come home makes my whole day worthwhile.
*
I'm going now, to finish my coffee and get dressed. I'm hoping to have a freebie ready for you tomorrow. So till then, Y'all stay warm and have a fantastic day.

Just Two More Weeks Till Vacation!

February 11, 2011
*
Good morning. It's a gorgeous (and very cold) sunny morning here in New England. On my way to work this morning, I realized that between 6:30 and 6:37, daylight happened. I left my house in darkness, and drove most of the way to work in daylight. Now I definitely like that!!!
*
Just before I got to work, I had to pull over by the roadside and grab my camera. Nearby, there was a whole family of deer, and I just had to get me some photos. I'll save those for tomorrow though.
*
Yesterday, after calling the airline and asking questions about sizes allowed for carry ons, I decided to return Tootsie's new carrier. BUT - I also re-ordered the same one in a smaller size more appropriate for her size. They go by the weight of the dog. Plus the bigger one was too big for a carry on. When the new one gets here, I'll be sure to take photos of my little miss riding in it.
*
After asking the lady at the airline a ton of questions, I finally got our airline tickets to Florida. Mine and Tootsies! And I saved $300 by shortening my trip by one day. I can live with that! Now all that's left is to decide what and how to pack for the trip.
*
I also had a really nice surprise yesterday. Dee Dee and Eddie stopped by for a while, and brought me the most beautiful bouquet of orange roses. That's my favorite color!!! And oh, oh, oh!!! Are these roses just gorgeous!!!!! And they smell so good!
*

It's time for me to wrap this up now. I'm at work and the Mrs. is starting to wake up. Till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a wonderful day.
*

A Great Way To Help

Good morning. It's still a bit gray outside, although the weatherman is calling for a cloudy day today. The temperature is about 26 degrees F, and probably won't get much warmer than that for the rest of the day. I'm just grateful that it's not snowing or raining sleet.
*
I spoke with Miss Edie yesterday, and she is doing just fine. Even better, her spirits are way up. Thanks to everyone for all the good thoughts and prayers. Miss Edie sends her thanks too.
*
Folks, I want to pass on something that a friend sent to me. For those of you going through chemo, or if you know someone who is, this could be helpful. There is an organization called "Cleaning For A Reason" that will provide free housecleaning once a month for four months. The person just has to sign up and have their doctor fax a note confirming the treatment. Check it out and pass this info on. http://www.cleaningforareason.org/

For today's photos, I'm showing the beauty around us. This first photo taken last Sunday morning, shows a really beautiful early morning blue cloud filled sky. Minutes later, it looked completely different, so I feel fortunate to have been able to get this photo.
*

With this next photo, I was trying to capture the mist rising off the snow very early last Monday morning. It's not too bad, but I'll keep trying. Had I been a bit earlier, there would have been a lot more mist.
*
In the background here, I have the shopping channel on the TV. They have just finished showing "Tan Towels." You get a pack of fifteen for $20 plus s&h. Can you imagine just rubbing what looks like a colored paper towel all over your skin, and VOILA! You now have an instant tan!!! Simply amazing!! What will they think of next?
*
Well, I think that's it for this morning. My coffee is gone, and my little girl is looking a bit hungry here. Maybe I'll get some kibbles for her and an English muffin for me. Mmmmm. Sounds good. Till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a fantabulous day.

Blue Snow Blossoms

February 9, 2011
*
Brrrr! It's sunny, but very cold this morning. Definitely still Winter!! The good part is that there is no more snow being forecast for us till next week. So that's something. With the rain and two gorgeous days, we still have huge piles of snow everywhere. In my yard, they are still between four and eight feet tall.
*
Yesterday, the UPS man delivered the traveler carrier that I had order for Tootsie on Monday. Wow! Talk about a speedy delivery! And what a beauty it is!! Tootsie loves it, and she rode all around the house in it. I did the pulling, of course. Now all we have to do is order our airline tickets.
*
If you would like another freebie treat today, stop by Su's blog. She has posted a really lovely Friendship kit. The colors match our "My Fair Lady" kit. While you're there, take a moment to say hello and thank you.
*
Today's photos are one's that I took yesterday of the little sprigs on the top of the hedge outside my window. They are all coated with frozen melted snow, and look like what I call "Snow Blossoms." I've done this one in black and white.
*

Here it is again done in blues. Isometimes like to play around with colors.
*

I'm off now to chat with Su. (She just called on the phone.) Till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a fantastic day.

Pink And Black Is Beautiful!!

February 8, 2011
*
What a difference a day makes!! We're back in "Winter mode" this morning. I woke up to a snow covered yard again. At least this time it's only a couple of inches. (So far!) Except for a fuel oil delivery, these past two days were absolutely wonderful.
*
Getting fuel oil deliveries is sort of like signing over your first born or all future paychecks!!! I know my Audrey would not appreciate being swapped for some heating oil, so I guess we'll just opt to stay in the poorhouse for the time being!!! At least we're not alone.
*
Folks, remember the "Miss Edie" kit a few months ago? Well, my beautiful Miss Edie is back in the hospital having some new cancer removed. Won't you join me in prayer that the doctors get it all, and Miss Edie will be on the mend soon? Edie's smiles are simply magical, and light up a whole room. I love you Lady.
*
My friends, Mary Ann and Gene are probably already on the road by now. They are leaving behind all the snow and cold weather for a couple of months to visit with family and friends in a much warmer climate. I'm drooling!!! Mary Ann, please send lots of pictures!!
*
Yesterday, I made arrangements with the manager at my time share in Florida to bring Tootsie on vacation with me this year. They don't usually allow pets, but are making an exception for Tootsie. So the next thing I did was to go online and order her a new carry case. This one has wheels and a handle so that I won't have to carry it. It's pink and black just like her stroller.

Is this not a beauty? It's supposed to be accepted by most of the airlines, so here's hoping! Now all we have to do is buy airline tickets. We just might make it to Florida!!!
*
Now how about a couple of birdie photos. I took these shots the first week in January. For some reason, these little finches are sometimes difficult to photograph. This one, I believe, is a house finch. (Or maybe a purple finch. They look so much alike.)
*
That's all for this morning. Now I think I'll make me another cup of coffee. Miss Tootsie has been waiting patiently for her "good girl, you did it on your papers" treat. I have one of the world's few doggies that absolutely will not do her "pottying" outdoors. I guess she figures that if I don't have to go potty in the yard then why should she? You know, in a way that makes sense!
*
I'm getting silly, so off I go. Till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a magnificent day.

"My Fair Lady" Is Here!

February 7, 2011
*
It's looking like the start of another sunny day this morning. Still a bit cold, but the weatherman promises us that it will reach above 40 degrees F. I can definitely dig it!! Tonight it's supposed to snow, and then again tomorrow. Then the cold temps are back for a while.
*
I'm watching on TV where the roof on a parking garage in Indianapolis, I believe, collapsed during the night from the weight of the snow and ice. Thank goodness no one got hurt, but who in their right mind would put a cloth roof on a parking garage????? Then again, who in their right mind would park their automobile inside it with all that snow and ice on top of the cloth roof??? (Sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone. I just don't understand the logic here.)
*
Today, Su and I will be posting Parts 1 & 2 of our new collab kit, "My Fair Lady." Credit for the colors and theme for this kit goes to Miss Su. And what a fabulous kit it is!!! As usual, we will each post two parts on Monday each week. So make sure to come back each week to pick up the whole kit. Here are my previews and links for Pts. 1 & 2. I realize that you cannot see all of the elements, but I assure you when you get them you will be pleasantly surprised. Enjoy.

*
Next, I have a preview of Miss Su's portion of "My Fair Lady." Once you have downloaded my parts, be sure to hop on over to Miss Su's blog and pick up her two parts. Don't forget to take a moment to say thank you.
*
This should keep you busy for a while, and now I have to start getting ready for my appointment this morning at the nursing home where Howie is. There are lots more papers to be signed. Till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a fantabulous day.

We're Having A Heat Wave!!!!!

February 6, 2011
*
I'm sitting here at work listening to all sorts of drip drip drips from the icicles hanging from the roof. It's 6 am, and I do believe that the rain has stopped. On my way to work last night, there were large puddles everywhere from the rain melting some of the snow that is piled up all over.
*
I just checked the outdoor thermometer and it reads 35 degrees F. So that accounts for the dripping noise. Wow! We're in the middle of a regular heat wave!! The weatherman says it will reach 39 today and 42 tomorrow. Will wonders ever cease? This should melt a little bit of the snow and ice.
************
I took a short break there folks. I needed to finish up a few things to get ready to go home. On my way home, I was checking to see how many fire hydrants had been shoveled out from the snow. Would you believe? Hardly any had been cleared out. I pray to God there are no fire emergencies before the snow is gone. It could be disastrous.
*
Tomorrow is our big day here. Su and I release the previews and the first parts to our new kit, "My Fair Lady." Our colors and theme are a bit different from your usual Valentine kit, but it should be perfect for all your sweetheart's pictures. It's a gorgeous kit you'll not want to miss.
*
Now, how about some more photos from the other day. It's not just the birds scurrying for food these cold and snowy days. The squirrels are hungry too, and out scratching for something to eat. This furry little kid was digging around in the snow on the patio for the seeds that had been buried. He's pesky, but still he's a cutie!
*

That's all for this morning. On my way home, I picked up a McDonald's breakfast platter that I will share with Tootsie. Yum, yum! Till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a fantabulous day.

Time To Get OutThe Umbrellas And Canoes

February 5, 2011
*
Good morning. Outside my window, it's rather drab and gray. We are expecting lots of rain today and tonight. Imagine the huge puddles (more like ponds!) we'll have everywhere. It might help to get rid of some of the snow, but the water has to go somewhere. Hopefully, not in my basement. We do have a sump pump down there, but I may have to pick up a second one.
*
Tootsie and I got up very early this morning, so I did a bit of catching up on blog hopping and my emails. I also made some new color swatches from pictures and art that I found on the web. This is the most fun way for me to come up with new color palettes.
*
There's not much news today, so I'll share some more of the photos that I took yesterday while I was at work. These little Juncos are just so cute, and not quite as skittish as the other little birds when they see me in the window with my camera. As long as I stand still, they don't feel threatened and fly off.
*

That's about it for this morning. How about a freebie? Here's a QP that I made for the January freebie downloads at the MS forum. I thought those of you who did not pick it up there might like to have it. The theme was "Enchanted Winter."
*

And here is the download link for "EB - Enchanted Winter QP"

Now I think I'll rustle up a bit of breakfast for Miss Tootsie and me. A chicken chewy for her, and maybe toasted muffins for me. Mmmmmm, yummy! Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Wren Will You Be Mine, Valentine?

February 4, 2011
*
I know, it's corny, huh? But it did get your attention!! It's not always easy trying to think up a title for the post every morning, but I do my best. lol!
*
It's a gorgeous sunny morning here in my little part of New England. And even though it's very, very cold, all the trees and bushes are glistening as thought they were decked out in diamonds because of the sun shining through their frosted branches. Much as I dislike Winter weather, it really is a beautiful sight.
*
Before I go on with some photos, let me tell you that Miss Su is home from the hospital and sounding quite chipper. It was good chatting with her yesterday, and to hear that she is feeling much better.
*
I'm at work this morning, so this will need to be a short post. So I thought I would share some photos that I just took through the patio door windows. There was an adorable little wren out there pecking about looking for food. I'll just post the photos, as they tell their own story.
*

Now I must get busy here as the Mrs. will be waking soon. Till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a fantabulous day.
