Pet Toys

March 30, 2022

Good morning.  Today is sunny with temps in the forties.  After today, temps will be warming up.  Woo Hoo!  Can you believe it?  In just two days, it will be another new month.  The year is really slipping by!

My accountant finished my taxes and mailed them to me.  I've signed them and now they are in the mail.  Awesome!  It's good that they are done for the year.  I have some money coming back, so when it gets here Deanne and I can go shopping and spend it.

The first thing I want to buy is a new rug for the porch.   I like having a rug on the porch because it makes it much more "homey".  It's only a 5x7, but it's just big enough to look nice.  I have a small table and two chairs out there, and a fan so it is quite comfortable.

Recently I mentioned about toys that were being sold for doggies.  Now they have toys on the market for your kitties.  They really are wicked cute!  These are from the "Huggy Kitty" family.

These toys are adorable.  So don't forget next December when you are helping Santa with his shopping, to check out the pet toy departments.  I'm sure by then there will be lots more really cute toys.

Now I have to check on my last yarn order.  I can't find my order receipt so I'll have to call the yarn company to get one.  So, till Friday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Research Can Be Interesting

March 28, 2022

Good morning.  Tis gray with possible snow showers on the way.  Temps are only 25F degrees.  Hopefully, temps are going to start getting (and staying) warmer in just a few days.

I did a bit of crocheting this weekend and finished the crib blanket.

I found some new and very interesting yarn colors online and of course had to order some of it.  When it comes, I'll start a new crib blanket.  I like to keep a few of these on hand, just in case.  I also put a few rows on one of the afghans.  It will be a while before these are done.  They're not half done yet.

Are you happy?  Do you know why?  Is it maybe because you live in one of the happiest countries in the world?  Here's an interesting map (of happy countries) that I found on the web.

I wonder who makes up all these different informative maps.  It must be a very interesting job.  Think of all the wonderful things you would learn while doing the research for these maps.  I think I would love a job like that.

Today, I have some blog reading to get caught up with.  I never turned on my laptop over the weekend.  So, I think I'll first make a cup of coffee to enjoy while I'm reading blogs.  Now I'm on my way to the kitchen to make that coffee.  So, till Wednesday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Plants For Bees

March 25, 2022

Good morning.  Tis gray and damp today.  We may get some sunshine later.  Temps are starting to be more like beginning Spring temps.  Super!  Soon it will be "sit on the porch" weather.  I can't wait!

Yesterday was quiet.  I called the doctor to cancel my appointment and change it to another date.  Deanne has a nasty cold.  I thought it would be best if she stayed home and got some rest.  My appointment is only a regular check up.

Soon it will be time to pick out tomato plants.  Every year I say it's the last year, but then every year I buy another plant.  Deanne usually gets a few tomatoes on her plant, but mine doesn't seem to do as well.  Hmm, I wonder why.

While you are picking out plants for your garden, here are a few that you might want to plant to help the bees.

Today I'll work on the crib blanket for a bit.  It's more than half done.  I'll try to remember to take a photo of it to share.  The colors are really pretty.  I've been ignoring the afghans, but soon I'll have to work on them too.

There is a Law & Order marathon on TV today so that's what I'll be watching.  Now I'm off to check the mail.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Time To Get Out More

March 23, 2022

Good morning.  Golly, have you noticed that it's almost April?  Time seems to be flying rather fast lately.  Let's hope it starts slowing down a bit for Spring and Summer so that they can last longer.

My crocheting is going very slowly.  I just can't seem to get past a couple rows before tiring of it.  I think it has to do with being cooped up for so long (since Covid started changing plans).  I really must get out more.

My doctor appointment last week had to be rescheduled.  My new appointment is tomorrow afternoon.  I think I'll ask my doctor if she wouldn't like to schedule "over the phone" appointments once in a while.  The insurance companies cover these appointments.

I've been throwing all my junk mail in a big box, and now I think it's time to start getting rid of it.  Gosh, what would the Post Office do if there were no more junk mail sent out?  Probably go out of business.

I found this beautiful image on the web and wanted to share it with you.  Wouldn't it be wonderful if we all planted a tree?

I have to watch for the mailman this morning.  I put a piece of mail out for him to deliver and I want to make sure he gets it.

I had my breakfast really early this morning, so I'll be checking to see what's for lunch soon.  First though, I want to enjoy a bit of blog reading.  So, till Friday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

It's Springtime!

March 21, 2022

Good morning.  Today will be sunny with temps in the mid fifties.  Tomorrow we go back to the colder temps.   It's Springtime now so temps should be warming up soon.

Friday afternoon, Deanne and I went to the park.  It's so relaxing to sit there and watch all the birds.  (ducks, geese, swans, etc.)  The weather was so nice that there were lots of folks there.  Some folks were feeding the birds and others were just enjoying watching, like us.

The rest of the weekend was quiet.  I did a bit of crocheting every now and then.  Mostly I watched a couple movies on TV.  Today I'll be watching the Law & Order marathon on TV.  And I'll crochet a bit.

For Steve, we have a dish here that we call New England Boiled Dinner.  It's meat (your choice), potatoes, carrots, turnips and cabbage.  It's all boiled in a large pan, and it's delicious!

Someone keeps designing these great crochet tee shirts.  Here's another one I found.

Now I think I'll get a bottle of cold water and do a bit of blog reading.  I didn't turn my laptop on over the weekend, so I have a lot of catching up to do.  So, till Wednesday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Yum! Yum!

March 18, 2022

Good morning.  Today is going to be lovely.  The temperature is supposed to hit 70F degrees.  Woo Hoo!  Deanne says its a good day for a ride through the park after work.  And I definitely agree!

Yesterday was Saint Patrick's Day.  We celebrated with a delicious boiled dinner that Deanne cooked for us.  It was super delicious!  Yum Yum!

Our wild turkeys are back.  We put out extra food for them every day.  I enjoy seeing them.  They really are beautiful birds.

I've been working on my tax stuff and I think I'm getting close to done.  I've totaled all my columns, and now I just have to finish with the receipts.  It would be nice to have them back in the mail to the accountant by tomorrow.

In between things, I add a row or two to one of my crochet projects.  These afghans will keep me busy for quite a while.  I still have a few grandchildren and great grandchildren who don't have an afghan yet.

Now, I'm going to watch some Law & Order.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Awesome Gifts

March 16, 2022

Good morning.  Today is supposed to be in the mid-fifties.  Awesome!  I have to go out for a doctor appointment this afternoon.  Which reminds me, I need to call the garage and have them come out and start my car.  I think I may have to buy a new battery.

My great granddaughter, Alena, sent me a wonderful gift.  She's learning to make jewelry, and she made me two beautiful bracelets. The blue one will match the dress I'll be wearing today.  Thank you, Alena.  I love them.  You did a great job drawing the horse too.

In a few weeks, I should have lots of beautiful blossoms on my rhododendrons.  The bush is covered with buds.

For those of you who will be planting tomatoes soon, I found a super interesting article.  Did you know that baking soda was good for your plants?  I didn't.  I'll have to try it this year.

I've been planting tomatoes for years, and I think I've only eaten one or two of the tomatoes from my plants.  This year I'll try the baking soda to see if it really helps.  It sure would be nice to grow a lot of tomatoes on my plant.

Now it's time to make some breakfast.  And maybe a hot cup of coffee to enjoy while I'm reading blogs.  Today will be really busy.   I also have a grocery order being delivered later this morning.  By the time its all put away, it will be time to get ready for my appointment.  So, till Friday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Birthday Eddie

March 14, 2022

Good morning.  This week is supposed to be very Springlike.  Warm temps all week.  This is certainly a good sign that Spring is on its way.

It's been a busy weekend.  My son in law, Eddie, had his 59th birthday.  Happy Birthday Eddie.

His daughter, Jasmine, painted him a picture for his birthday.  Here's a copy of the painting and the original photo that Jazzy was copying.  Great job, Jazzy.

I worked on the two afghans and started a new boy baby crib blanket.  I think the next afghan I make will have to be in a totally different color, like maybe purple or orange.  This is enough blue and green to last me for a while.

I'm making the new boy crib blanket because one of daughter Audrey's friends is having a baby boy and I've boxed up the boy blanket that I had already made and am sending it to her.  This is why it's good to have these on hand.  You never know when you might need one.

I've been neglecting working on my receipts for taxes.  So, today I really need to buckle down and start working on them.  My tax stuff needs to be in the mail back to the accountant by the end of this week.

Today there is a Law & Order marathon on TV.  Watching this will help to make working with the receipts a little more bearable.  Now I think I'll make a cup of coffee and get started.  So, till Wednesday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Spring Has Sprung

March 11, 2022

Good morning.  Today is sunny, and temps will get up to the mid fifties.  Awesome!  Spring is definitely coming soon.  Yesterday Deanne took a photo of the little garden outside our kitchen window.  Lookee!  Lookee!  Spring is coming!

How wonderful it is to look out and see little green sprouts coming up through the ground.  (and the snow)  In a few weeks, these sprouts will have yellow and white blossoms.  And it will be warm enough to  sit out on the porch.  Woo Hoo!

One of these days I want to go shopping and get a new carpet for the porch.  Actually, just going shopping for anything will be great fun.  It's not something I get to do very often.

Today I want to make a bottle of orange juice.  Lately I've been having a hankering for some juice.  And then I really need to get busy working on last year's receipts.  I want all my tax stuff finished before April.

Recently I purchased a new necklace.  It was on clearance sale for only $8.99.  I don't really need a new necklace, but I just couldn't resist all the beautiful colors.  (ShopLC.com)   Hmmm, now I really do have to find a reason to get out.  So I can wear my new necklace.  Of course!

I've got all three colors on the newest afghan so I'll be taking a photo later today to share with you.  It actually looks really nice.  I'll take photos of both afghans to share.  I'll be busy with them for quite a while.

Perry Mason is on TV now and I'm going to stop now and watch my program.  So, till Monday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Huggie Pups

March 10, 2022

Good morning.  Tis sunny and 36F degrees.  Today will actually be quite warm (50F degrees).  Awesome!  It snowed yesterday and these warm temps will melt away all the snow.

I found an ad for a new item online.  Huggie Pups.  What a great idea!  Toys for our pets.  Dogs especially seem to like stuffed animals.  Be honest.  Wouldn't your pet love a Huggie Pup?

I meant to post yesterday (Wednesday).  But, I thought it was Tuesday all day.  Alas, I was wrong.  Every now and then I seem to lose a day.  Does this happen to you too?

I found this super chart of healing foods that we all have in our kitchen cabinets.  I find it amazing that so many of us have all these items, yet not many of us know what we really have.  These are foods that we should look up and learn a bit about.  One never knows when we'll need them as medicines.

The mailman has just left so I think I'll go out and get the mail.  Then I should have some breakfast.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

D.W.Field Park

March 7, 2022

Good morning.  Today I thought I'd share information about our beautiful park.  It's really quite lovely and spreads across two towns.  We have swans, ducks, geese, pigeons, sea gulls, and even a cormorant.  Awesome!

The above articles are found on Google.  I thought they explained the park much better than I could.  Here are a few more photos from the park.

Wouldn't it be nice if every city and town had a beautiful park like this?  It is so relaxing to take our lunch and park near one of the ponds and enjoy watching the birds.

Now I'm off to do a big of blog reading.  I enjoy blogging and will continue to post here.  So, till next post, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Heart Monitor

March 4, 2022

Good morning.  Tis sunny today and 18F degrees.  Hmmm, I wonder when the days will start being warmer.  Spring is coming.  I wonder if Mother Nature needs a reminder that it's time to start warming things up a bit.

My latest yarn order came yesterday.  Now I can start another afghan and have two of them to work on.  It's funny, they are both blue and green.  One is light colors, and the other is darker colors.  It wasn't planned that way, but that's how it came out.

I think I'm going to look at some baby girl sweaters or dresses.  I may want to try making some little dresses.  Hmm, it's an idea.  And a change from blankets and afghans.

Yesterday I bought a KardiaMobile Personal EKG Device and Heart Monitor.  I can keep an eye on my heart and share the information via email with my doctor.  At least, that's the plan.  (It's only $79)

I may change my posting days here on my blog too.  I don't do much of anything so sometimes it's difficult to have something to say.  I may try posting on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  At least that's what I'm thinking of doing.  I may try it to see how it works out.

You know, it's amazing how much our lives change as we get older.  For years, I posted here every day of the week.  But back then I had a full time job and lots of interests on the side.  Now there's no job, and I don't go anywhere except to the doctor.  I don't want to give up my blog though.  I enjoy it too much.  Besides, I'd miss all the wonderful folks I know because of it.

Perry Mason is coming on the TV now and I'm off to watch it.  So, till Monday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Very Interesting Clock

March 3, 2022

Good morning.  Tis sunny outside, and 37F degrees.  We have a new front doorstep.  It seems that the plow blade wrecked our front step (when plowing the other night).  Yesterday, the plow guys came back and built me a new front doorstep.  I will definitely hire this company again.

My granddaughter sent a new photo of Ariyah.  Gosh, she is just the cutest little thing!  Yup, that's the blanket and hat that I made for her.

By the end of this month, there should be one more great granddaughter born.  She's due to my grandson Jeremy and his wife Caitlin.

In one of my new magazines, there was an ad for a cuckoo clock.  I don't usually pay much attention to these ads, but this one was so interesting that I had to have a look.  This one is Disney Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas" Cuckoo Clock.

I guess today I'll round up all my receipts from last year and try to make some sense of them.  (for my taxes, of course.)  Hopefully, I'll be able to finish up this tax stuff this week or next, and then I can mail it all to my accountant.  Glory Be!  Could it be done this quickly?  Hmmm!

A word of advice, be careful when ordering items from the web.  I ordered an item, and it came.  No problem.  Then another order for it came too.  Today I called the company and cancelled any further orders being sent to me.  I guess when you order the first time, the company takes this to mean that you want repeat orders.  So just be careful when you order to know exactly what it is you are ordering.

Now I'm going to watch a Law & Order marathon on TV.  So, you stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Taters For Birds?

March 1, 2022

Good morning.   Gosh, I've been up for hours.  I woke early, so I did some work on my tax stuff.  Then I paid a batch of bills and put them out for the mailman.  After that, it was time for some breakfast.

I think I need to spend more time on getting everything ready for my tax accountant.  Time seems to be going by quickly, and it will soon be April.  I don't like to wait until the last minute to have my taxes done.  I mostly just have to go through all my receipts now.  Then I have lots of columns of numbers to add up.  I would like to have all of this finished by the end of the week.

Spring is only nineteen days away!  The cold temps will last a bit longer though.  But at least there's hope now that the warmer temps will be here in just a few weeks.  Awesome!  Meanwhile, here are some ideas of what you can feed the birds during these cold temps.  (Wow!  I did not know about the baked potatoes.  Did you?)

Now I think I'll get started on those receipts from last year.  That should keep me busy for a while.  So, till Thursday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.
