Adios March

March 31, 2021

Good morning.  I guess in some areas, March is going out like a lamb.  The wind lately has been a bit frisky at times and we've had bits of rain (mostly during the night).  This is not the case in other parts of the country.

I was up early this morning, putting together a "doggie package."  My cousin Anita told me that when her package arrived the other day, her little dog Ginger  sniffed it all over to make sure it was okay.  However, when the box was opened, Ginger looked a bit sad because there was nothing in the box for her.

How could I have been so unthoughtful?  So I've put together a little box of Pogo's toys (I have tons of them!)  and addressed it to Ginger.  I'll see if Deanne will mail it for me this week.

A couple days ago, I found some really pretty yarn in my stash so I started a baby blanket with it.  The yarn is from Red Heart and is called Minty.  I'll make another one with yellow yarn.

Has anyone other than me been noticing the downright horrible taste in a lot of the commercials on TV lately?  Some are in extremely bad taste, and others are just stupid.  I'm really surprised at Geico for their poor taste in their latest ad.  They usually have pretty good ones.  The latest one has a basketball player, Dikembe Mytombo, running around making grunting noises and smashing or throwing things.  Exactly what is the point of this stupidity?  Does it really sell insurance?

And how about the cat litter ad?  (I think it is for cat litter)  The guy scrapes the litter box and the cat poo flies through the air and lands in the woman's smoothie drink.  Really?  This is supposed to sell cat litter?

Whatever happened to the commercials that are fun or at least interesting to listen to?   Does Big Business really think that all of us consumers are so stupid that we need these new kind of ads?  That's really sad!

I'm beginning to annoy myself so I think I'll go read some blogs.  Let me leave you with this picture that I borrowed from the web.  It doesn't cost much to feed a hungry animal or show it some love.

So till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

The Trash Barrel Gremlin Strikes Again!

March 30, 2021

Good morning.  Yesterday was a rather quiet day.  I did not get much sleep Sunday night, so I took advantage of falling asleep yesterday morning.

Yesterday was trash pick up day in our town.  Sadly, we sometimes lose our trash barrels on these days.  Once they are emptied, they are tossed onto the sidewalk.  If it's windy, the barrels blow around until someone stops them.  Or someone takes them.  Or they get run over by the street traffic.  Or they just disappear into thin air!

I started out with two trash barrels but several months ago, one of them disappeared on trash pick up day.  The other one disappeared yesterday.  There must be a trash barrel gremlin out there somewhere.  I shopped around online for a new one, and hopefully we'll have it later today.

My cousin Anita called me yesterday afternoon.  The package that we mailed to her on Saturday had arrived and she and her hubby were loving their new lapghans.  I can't get over how quickly the package got delivered.  The package was taken to our post office shortly before noon on Saturday 3/27 and had already been delivered to my cousin in PA on Monday 3/29.  Awesome!

Here's an image I borrowed from the web to share.  I love watermelon and it's really good for you.  Imagine what a bowl of cut up watermelon every week could do for your health!

I don't really have a lot of news for today.  When each day is much the same as the day before, it's not always easy to find news to talk about.  (But I'll keep trying)  Today I'm going to look for a new pattern for a baby blanket.  I have something in mind, but I don't have the pattern for it.

Before I leave now to do some blog reading, let me share one more picture that I borrowed from the web to share with you.

So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Remember Hop Scotch?

March 28, 2021

Good morning.  Gosh, have you noticed?  We're running out of this month already.  Time is flying!  Today's temps will get into the mid fifties with rain.  Tis another great day for crocheting.

Speaking of crocheting,  Deanne mailed my box of lapghans yesterday.  We still have a lot of cool weather ahead so I'm hoping that my cousins will enjoy these lapghans.  I've been busy finishing the pockets for the pocket wraps that I made.  All the pockets are made and now just have to be sewn on to the wraps.

I think I've decided on a light yellow for a baby blanket.  Or maybe the Aran.  I like that color too.  Hmmm, such big decisions!  I'll be needing to make a couple more afghans too.  My stash of them is running out.  They make great gifts.

Today I've dug out a photo from back in the seventies.  This was a gift from my children.  They all went to the mall together to shop and found this beautiful candle.  I still have it and today it sits on top of my doll cabinet.

They've just played one of my favorite ads on TV.  A little girl is sitting on her front steps.  Just watching people walk by on the sidewalk.  So she goes to the sidewalk and draws a hop scotch gameboard, then goes back to sitting on her steps.  Now when folks walked by, they hop scotched across the game on the sidewalk and then waved to the little girl.  Do you remember playing hop scotch?  Oh my, what fun memories!

Now I'm off to wash the dishes in the sink and then settle down to some crocheting.  First, let me share this image with you.  Please remember, when you cut down your trees, you're not just cutting down trees.  You are destroying our ecosystem and a lot of very important homes.  Where are all our birds and animals supposed to live now?

So, till next time, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous day.

Be The Change

March 26, 2021

Good morning.  Yesterday afternoon turned out to be really nice.  Today is supposed to be gray, wet and in the mid sixties.  Spring is trying.  It's just taking a while to get here.  Temps will be going down again, but after a while they'll be rising again.

Well, I finished the two lapghans for my cousin Anita and her hubby Ray.  Now I just have to box them up and get them in the mail.  I placed them on the porch gate to take a photo.

I have some Fuschia yarn that might look nice as a lapghan.  We'll see.  I bought the yarn because I liked the color.  Now I just have to think of something to make with it.

It finally got warm enough yesterday afternoon for me to sit out on the porch for a while.  It felt really nice to be able to listen to the birds and watch the squirrels play.  I missed our wild turkeys this year.  They only came by a couple times.  I hope wherever they went, they had some really good food and shelter.

Deanne was finally able to get her first vaccine shot yesterday after work.  So far, she says she has no after effects.  I hope it stays that way.  She was even given the date when to go back for her second shot.  My cousin Anita and her hubby also got their first shots this week, along with the date to go back for their second shots.  They live in Pennsylvania and were initially told that they would not be able to get the shots until probably May or June.

There's not much for good pickin's on TV this morning so I'm watching the Shop LC program.  Today is Friday so that means nothing is over $9.99.  I'm not shopping but it is interesting to see what they are offering.

Before I leave to do some blog reading, let me leave you with this beautiful image that I borrowed from the web to share.  When you see an animal looking for food in your yard, don't chase them away.  Put out some food for them.  A lot of them have families to feed.  Hunger hurts.

So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Ladybug, Ladybug!

March 25, 2021

Good morning.  The forecast for today has changed a bit.  Instead of a lovely sunny, warm day we'll be getting cloudy with bits of rain and afternoon sunshine. Temps are supposed to be getting up into the upper sixties and I was planning on having breakfast on the porch.  I guess now I'll wait until this afternoon to sit out there for a while.

I have to share a funny story that was told by the host on an old game show program.  (Sale Of The Century)  He was saying that Mikhail Gorbachev came here and was awed at the many different items in our stores.  Mr. Gorbachev told the host that while he was in a grocery store he saw powdered milk.  You just add water, and you get milk.  And, he saw powdered orange juice.  Again, you just add water and you get orange juice.  Then he saw baby powder, and said "What a country!"

I'm one of those folks that just can't throw out the yarn bits that are left over from projects.  I put each color in a baggie and keep them all in a large bag.  So, yesterday I went looking through the bag to see if maybe there were left overs of the color that I need to finish this last lapghan.  I found a baggie with just enough of the yarn to finish my project.  Woo Hoo!

Of course, I still went online to check out any new yarn colors that I might be needing for future projects.  I'm thinking that I'd like to make another baby cocoon and hat set just to have on hand.  You never know when a new baby will be expected.  Plus, I want to make something in a really bright color.  Like maybe Fuschia.  Or Flamingo.  Or Mango.  Gosh, if I keep this up I'll be drooling.

I borrowed a chart from the web that I thought would be very helpful to all of us.  It shows what the bites of various insects look like on our skin.  These are: Spider, Mosquito, Tick, Bedbug, Flies.

And then I borrowed another picture to share.  I never knew there were so many different types of Lady Bugs.  Did you?   This picture shows seventeen different Lady Bugs.

You should not kill or spray these bugs.  They eat a lot of garden pests.  I checked with Wikipedia and according to them, there are 5000 different species of Lady Bugs in the world.

Ladybug - author unknown.
Ladybug, ladybug, On the tree, Fly down here and sit with me.  Rest on m hand, I'll count your spots, 2,,4, 6,8 polka dots!

I just put the mail out for the mailman, and I see that the rain has stopped and it looks like it is clearing up.  Maybe the sun will be out soon?   Now I'm going to do some blog reading.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Trees

March 24, 2021

Good morning.  It's seven thirty and I'm still waiting for the sun to come out.  I now have two weather apps on my phone.  One says it will be overcast/cloudy, and the other says it will be sunny.  My weather app predicament just grew.  They both give different high temperatures for today too.  I suppose I cold just mix them together and come up with my own forecast.

One says no rain, the other says 4% chance of rain.  One says 59 degrees for a high and 39 degrees for a low, and the other says 63 degrees for the high and 48 for the low.  I got the second weather app from the Weather Channel thinking that I might get a better idea of the correct weather forecast.  So much for that idea!

Last night I worked on the second lapghan.  Now I only have nine more rows to go to finish it.  However, I might run out of yarn before I get to the end.  I suppose that this could be a good excuse to look for a new color of yarn for another project.  (A girl just has to try!)  I'm thinking that I might need a couple lapghans for my porch.  Yes?

Deanne came by yesterday after work and we sat out on the porch for quite a while enjoying the birds and the fresh air.  I don't have to tell you how nice that felt.  When she left, she took my outgoing mail and dropped it off at the Post Office.  Thank you Deanne.  I feel better knowing that the bills will get to their destinations on time.

I borrowed a couple very touching images from the web to share with you.  Our trees are so very important to our survival.  Yet so many folks just cut them down with no reason or rhyme.  Think before you pick up that saw.  Do you really need to cut that tree down?

Here's a beautiful poem titled "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer.

I think that I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day, and lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear a nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain' who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me, but only God can make a tree.

Now I have a card to put out for the mailman to pick up.  Then I'm off to do some blog reading.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

New Clothes Are Such Fun!

March 23, 2021

Good morning.  Gosh, it's almost lunchtime!  I came on here hours ago to type my post, and got side-tracked.  First I thought I should pay some bills and get them out to my mailbox so that the mailman could take them.  I finished before the mail normally is delivered here, and OH NO!  The mailman had already been and gone.

Lesson learned.  Write out the bills at night and put them out before 9 a.m.  When will I ever learn?  This is sort of like Murphy's Law, right?  If I put the mail out early in the morning, the mailman doesn't deliver until just before 6pm.  That happened just last week.  Ah well, there's always tomorrow.

Today I have some adorable photos to share.  Deanne and Eddie took their grandchildren shopping the other day for some new clothes.  Sears was having an awesome "closing" sale.  This is Xander and Aurora.  Xander is showing a talent (and joy) for photo posing.  Maybe he'll make a great model some day?  These are just so fun!

The kids couldn't wait to get home and try on all their new clothes and have their photos taken.  The next day, they made paper Easter Bunnies to hang on the wall.  Crafts is always fun time.

Yesterday, Deanne came by after work and vacuumed my porch and dusted things off so that I can sit out there this week.  We have some nice days coming and it's going to feel so good to sit out there.  Thank you so much Deanne.  I really appreciate all the nice things that you do for me.

I ordered a couple hanging pots that will fit over the porch railing.  I'm going to put a couple of my house plants in these.  If this works out like I hope it will, I'll order a few more pots so that a few more house plants can live outdoors for a few months.

That's my news for today.  Now I'm off to read some blogs.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Updates Can Be Scary

March 22, 2021

Good morning.  What a scare I got this morning.  My laptop wasn't turning on.  I was just about ready to pack it up and make an appointment to sent it to the repair shop (to see if it could be fixed).  Finally the screen lit up and it slowly (very slowly) came to life.

Now I'm wondering about that new Windows update that took place yesterday.  It took most of the day to download and install.  It's very scary. (to me) Someone told me that there is a scam going on involving Windows updates, so you know what awful thoughts were going through my head all the time this laptop was tied up with this update.   I don't know anything about the scam or even it it is a real one.

I just looked up the new Windows update on Google.  They say that there is a current update.  I guess I'll just wait and see what happens in the future with my laptop.  There was a page came up (on my laptop)  listing the new features of this update.  So maybe there is nothing to worry about.

Yesterday was such a gorgeous day.  The temps got up to sixty degrees in the afternoon.  Wowsie!  DIL Janet came by for a visit and we stayed outdoors for quite a while visiting.  I even noticed two daffodil plants in my yard with buds on top of them.  Woo Hoo!  It will be a while before they blossom into flowers, but what a welcome sight!  Today is also supposed to creep up to sixty degrees too, so you know I'm going to spend some time out on my porch.  You've got to enjoy it while you can!

For those of you getting ready to start planting, here's a helpful image that I borrowed from the web to share.  Click on it to make it large enough to read all the names of the plants.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.   Let me leave you with a fun article.  It's funny, but it's also true.

So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

HAPPY SPRING

March 21, 2021

Good morning.  It's finally Spring!  There are tiny little buds on my trees.  Pretty soon there will be lots of tiny green leaves.  And I can't wait to see my blossoming cherry tree to start getting it's leaves.  It's getting so tall now, and when it's flowers bloom it is just awesome!

I got up super early this morning.  Around four o'clock.  I washed some dishes, made my breakfast, crocheted a bit and put in a grocery order to be delivered tomorrow.  I might be needing a nap soon.  I'm trying to get these lapghans finished so that I can finish up the rest of my projects before the end of April.  I think I have about twenty two more rows to go till the second one is finished.

I'm thinking that I might even start next year's tax stuff.  It shouldn't take too long to log three months expenses.  If I could keep this up throughout the year, it would make things much easier for me next year.  Even if I don't keep it up all year, whatever I get done will certainly be a help.

Thank goodness for Sunday re-runs of Blue Bloods because there's really not much to watch today on TV.  The old game shows will start in another hour or so.  Of course, Law & Order SVU is on most every day, but I don't really enjoy watching that show.  I find the aggressive attitudes of the leading detectives, Benson and Stabler, offensive.

And thank goodness for Amazon Prime.  There are some really awesome old TV shows on there.  Maybe I'll turn that on  later while I'm crocheting.  PBS has some awesome programs too.  I really enjoyed their All Creatures Great and Small.  Now I can't wait for the Season 2.

Today I have a couple Dover coloring sheets for you.  These are beautiful birds to celebrate Spring.  Enjoy.

Now it's time for me to do some blog reading.  I like to start my mornings with visits to my blog friends.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Pix From The Past

March 19, 2021

Good morning.  Yesterday, I held off shutting off my laptop for as long as I could.  Then I bit the big one and shut it off, realizing that it might not turn on again.  After a while, I held my breath and pressed the "on" button.  Awesome sauce!  My laptop turned on!  It takes forever for things to turn on, but they turn on!

Steve (Reed), I think you're right.  Possibly a few things may have been cleared off my laptop that held things I needed.  I really don't know.  I think all that messing around with Microsoft didn't help things either.  However, it's working and I'm happy.

Today I thought I would share some of my favorite old photos.  Many moons ago, Deanne had a pet dwarf pig.  His name was Sparky, and he was such a cutie!

Sparky was a lot of fun (and excitement too!)..  He loved getting out of the yard and checking out the neighborhood.  Sometimes he came home when you called him.  Sometimes, you had to go find him and carry him home.  Alas, he also kept growing, and soon he was too big to keep at home.  Deanne and Eddie found him a new home in the country where he had plenty of room to grow and roam.

Soon it will be Easter, so I dug out one of my favorite Easter photos.  This is my beautiful daughter Laura Jean enjoying her Easter basket.  (photo taken 2001)

Folks, if you have a loved one in need of more care than you can give them at home, check out the Seven Hills Pediatric Facility in Groton, MA.  You just cannot find better care for your loved one.

I'll have to start sharing more of these favorite old photos.  I love the memories that they bring back for me.  Plus, I want to leave a lot of these memories in my blog books for my family.

Did I mention that I finished the first lapghan and have started a new one?  Yup, and I know exactly where they are going when this second one is finished.  I'm going to send them to my cousin Anita and her hubby Ray.  I'll take a photo of the lapghans before I mail them off.

Now I'm going to read some blogs before getting started on this new day.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

second post today

March 18, 2021

If I don't post tomorrow, it means that I can't get into my laptop.  I'm still trying to fix the problem.  Thanks, Edna B.

Wonky Emails

March 18, 2021

Good morning.  Wow, I've spent the last forty five minutes trying to gain access to my laptop.  It has decided that it doesn't know me anymore and just would not let me in.  All my passwords, codes, etc. are wrong.  When did all this happen?  Eventually I got in, but I don't really know how.  I guess I'm going to have fun??? trying to figure all this out and get it fixed.

To top that off, when I opened my email, I found a couple disturbing emails.  One especially having to do with my bank account.  I called the bank and put my name on the list for a call back.  I'm sure this is just some hacker's way of having fun, but it sure messes up my day.

Yesterday I felt like sleeping till noon, so I stayed in bed and did just that.  I guess I needed it because I felt much better when I got up.  Not only did I not post here, but I never even turned on my laptop.  Hmmm, maybe that's why it's giving me such a problem this morning?

The bank just called me.  The letter is fraudulent and I've forwarded it to them.  It looked so legitimate, but the message was all wrong.  When I get stuff like this in my email I call the "so called" source.  Xfinity is famous for this stuff.  I've got several of these emails from them threatening to shut off my email if I don't do what they are asking for.  When I call Xfinity, they don't know anything about it.

Here's an interesting item that I borrowed from the web to share with you.  Dandelions are very important to our Bees.  Please don't mow these little yellow flowers down.  Let the Bees have them.  We need to do everything we can to save the lives of our Bees. They are a critical part of our food system.  Did I mention that Dandelions are very tasty too?

Here's one more image for you.  Also borrowed from the web.

Now I'm off to read some blogs.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

I'm Rather Chatty Today

March 16, 2021

Good morning.  Tis a chilly one to be sure, but Spring may still be coming soon.  I have lots of pretty green things popping up through the cold ground in my yard.  (image borrowed from web)

Can you think of a nicer thought to start your day with?  You woke up and I woke up too.  We are so very blessed.

Yesterday, Mr. Dave from the computer store called and spent some time cleaning out my laptop to speed it up.  This morning it is working like new again.  Thank you Mr. Dave.

You know folks, a lot of the work on your laptop can be done with a remote program.  You don't have to go out in the cold or even get dressed up.  You can stay in your jammies while your laptop is being checked and tuned up.  I only mention this in case some of you did not know this.

My regular mailman brought the mail yesterday.  Yeaaaaaaa!  My bills really needed to get out in order to reach their destination in time.  After work, Deanne came by and picked up my tax stuff and dropped it off at my tax accountant's office.  Thank you Deanne.  As much as I hate to work on that stuff, I don't like to be late getting it filed.

I gave Deanne a trash bag filled with lots of nice warm doggie blankets to bring to work for the animal shelters.  My Pogo loved his fuzzy blankets and believe me, he had tons of them.  Hopefully, these blankets will keep a lot of dogs and cats warm and comfortable.

According to my phone app, the warmer temps will be trying to come back (except for Friday).  Gosh, I hope so.  I can't wait to get my porch cleaned up and ready for me to sit out.  As soon as all the dirt and dust has been cleaned off the screens and rails and the floor, I'm going to buy me a new rug to put on the floor.

I also want to get a new clothesline.  One with pulleys so that I don't have to go very far to hang things on it.  The one that I bought last year can go inside the porch in case I need it for bad weather days.  It's perfect for the porch because it unhooks and rolls up when it is not in use.

Last evening I worked on my doggie ghan.  I've decided that it would be suited better for a person to use as a lapghan.  There are too many little holes on it for an animal to get their claws caught in.  However, not to worry.  A lot of times the retail stores will have lightweight blankets rolled up and in a bin, and they sell them for a couple of dollars.  I think I'll buy up lots of them when I see them and donate them to the animals in the shelters.  These blankets will be warmer and probably more comfortable for them.

Meanwhile, I'll keep working on my lapghans.  I ran out of yarn for the one I've been working on, but last night I found another skein of the yarn in my stash so now I can finish this one.  I can't wait till it's done because I already have the yarn set aside for the next one.

Before I leave you today, let me share a beautiful image that I borrowed from the web.

Now I'm off to read some blogs.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Tax Stuff Finished - Woo Hoo!

March 15, 2021

Good morning.  Let's get it over with right away.  I got an email  telling me that someone else is adopting the little dog Jeremiah.  I was offered another dog that was "better suited for me" or a refund of my deposit.  I was given no information about the dog.  When I asked for information they said it was not listed yet.  I said I wanted my money back.

So I guess the important question here is "What sort of dog is better suited for me?"  I guess a stuffed one?  I'm sorry for being sarcastic.  I just get tired of being told I'm too old to have something as nice as a little dog.

I do have some good news today.  I finished my tax stuff and Deanne is going to pick it up after work and deliver it to my tax accountant's office.  Hopefully I didn't miss anything.  Now I can do my crocheting without feeling guilty.

Today I'm watching for my regular mailman to show up.  I have some questions for him about the way my mail has been/not been delivered or picked up lately.  I know he is not the problem, but maybe he can find out what's going on for me.  If my mail doesn't get picked up today, I'll need to have someone take it to the Post Office.

I saw an item on the web and thought I'd share it with you.  I've never seen these things on trees and I hope to never see them on my trees.

Now I'm off to read some blogs.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Happy Birthday Eddie

March 14, 2021

Good morning.  The cooling down has begun.  Temps are going back down, and tomorrow will be the coldest day of this upcoming week.  Monday and Tuesday nights are going to be rather nippy too.

This past Friday was my SIL Eddie's birthday.  I did not have any birthday gift bags or wrapping paper, so I packed his gifts in a cardboard carton and wrapped the box with newspaper ads from the grocery stores.  Add a card and some bows, Voila!

One of the gifts was a t-shirt that I saw and just had to buy.  Eddie has a great sense of humor so this shirt would be perfect.  Here are a couple photos that Deanne sent to me.

Eddie, I'm so glad that your birthday was full of fun and love.  I wish you many more happy healthy years.

So, what else have I been up to?  I've been checking lots of shelters and rescues to find me another little doggie.  In the past, I ran up against a bit of bias against elderly adopters.  I was told that if I died before the doggie passed on, my children could not continue to take care of my doggie.  Ownership did not pass on to the relatives.  Therefore I was too old and could not adopt a doggie.

Can you believe that?  I got this answer two different times.  I may be old, but I'm not decrepit!  Here's the meaning of Decrepit: "worn out or ruined because of age or neglect."  I'm only wrinkled and a bit slower, but I function  just fine.

I did find one place where the owner herself was elderly.  (she told me that)  She told me to fill out the application for the doggie I was interested in and list a co-adopter (my daughter).  So I filled out the application and sent in the deposit.  They will get back to me if I am accepted.  Here's the little fellow that I'm trying to adopt.  His name is Jeremiah.  He is six years old and weighs five pounds.  And he is gorgeous!  Let's hope he is still there (waiting for me) and that I get accepted.

Today I will be busy all day.  I'm purposely not saying what I'll be doing because If I do I probably won't get it done again.  Today is "buckle down and put on your big girl panties" day.  And if the mailman does not pick up all my outgoing mail tomorrow, I shall call the Post Office and complain.  We've had substitutes lately and they are not to be counted on.  Even if they show up, they put the mail somewhere other than where it goes, and I have to hunt for it.

Now I'm going to enjoy a bit of blog reading before getting started on this new day.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Fantastic Day At The Park

March 12, 2021

Good morning.  Today is really lovely.  A little cooler than yesterday, but still a nice day.  Yesterday was such an awesome Spring like day.  The park was full of folks just enjoying the weather.  There were families there feeding the water birds, other folks just sitting in the sun and enjoying the view.  Lots of folks were sitting in parked cars with  the windows down taking in the fresh air, and lots of other folks were walking their doggies.

Deanne and I ate our lunch while we watched all the beautiful water birds.  And yes, I brought my camera.  However, I did not get out of the car.  The windows were down and I took photos through the open window.  There was a group of something way over on the other side of the pond, so I used my zoom lens to see what it was.

Surprise, surprise, it was two swans among a group of geese and ducks.  What a beautiful photo I got!

There was one Muscovey duck in the pond, and what a beautiful bird it is!  Deanne walked over closer to the water to get this photo for me.

When it was time to leave, we stopped to take photos of a couple of the waterfalls.  This was the first one that we came to.  It is so soothing to watch and listen to the running water.

For supper last night, I enjoyed a boiled dinner that Deanne had made for me, and I ate my last lemon donut for dessert.  It doesn't get better than that!  Of course, I know that I can't be eating these delicious donuts all the time (or I'll look like one) but every now and then a person really must treat his or herself  to a donut or two.

Today I have a couple calls to make, and I need to add up my tax columns.  I know, I know.  I'm a procrastinator.  But one of my calls is to make an appointment to drop off this stuff to the accountant, so I  really must stick to it and get things done.  After that, I can breathe easier.

Amazon is collecting clean towels, blankets, sheets and dry/canned dog and cat food for the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern MA.  I'll be putting together a bag for Deanne to take to work.

Now I'm wanting to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

I'm All Vaccinated

March 11, 2021

Good morning.  It's been an interesting morning so far.  My internet and email have been all messed up and raising all kinds of havoc on my laptop.  I've had to call the cable company, who shut down and reset my wifi.  It appears to be working so far, with not too many problems.  It only took me four tries to have access to my blog since the problem has been fixed.

I finally got access to my email too.  I think I'll see if Mr. Dave can give my laptop a check up tomorrow or at least by the first of next week.

Yesterday, I got my second vaccine shot.  I had a morning appointment (that's why I did not post yesterday).  We got to the place where the shots are given, and their wasn't a lot of traffic.  We were able to go right along to the vaccine tent.  And what a lovely surprise awaited us there!  No lady nurses today.  Just lots of handsome firemen.  Woo Hoo!  Here is just one of them.

This handsome young fireman was nice enough to let me take his photo.  All the folks there were really nice.  As for my vaccine shot, I'm still feeling okay.  No lumps or bumps on my arm, no sickness or headaches, just my normal self.

On the way home, Deanne found us a donut place that still sold lemon filled donuts.  My favorite!  We stopped and bought me a couple to take home (and two glazed donuts too).  I haven't had a donut in over a year.  Last night, I had one of each donut for supper.  After a late lunch I wasn't very hungry.  Oh my, yum yum!  These donuts were soooo delicious!

Folks, I guess this is one of the perks of getting old.  You can make anytime your meal time, and anything can be the meal.  It's just like naps.  Anytime your eyelids feel like closing for a while, it's automatically naptime.

I was asked to show a picture of my new dresses from Women Within.  This is the sundress.  I don't usually buy sleeveless things but it will feel good when the temps start getting wicked high.  I got the color shown, and the middle one on the side (black and pink).  It will be much longer on me because it doesn't come in Petite.

The long lounger dress comes in two lengths.  The long dress and the short dress.  I buy the short dress and it fits me like the long dress in the picture.  I'm only five feet tall.  I ordered the "Black Blossoms" (top left, second color in)

These dresses are very comfortable.  I'll get me one or two more of this second dress and I'll be all set for quite a while.  Maybe I'll get the purple one pictured and one of the light blues.  The only downfall is that the dresses won't make me look long and slender like the models shown.  I'll still be short and chubby, but I'll be comfortable and cool..

Temps are supposed to hit the low sixties today.  I'm going to order submarine sandwiches and Deanne and I are going to the park and watch the water birds while we eat.  I'll take my camera with me and hope to get some nice photos.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading before I start getting ready for this awesome new day.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

It's Time To Call Mr. Dave

March 9, 2021

Good morning.  The sun will be in and out today, hopefully with temps reaching fifty degrees.  There have been changes on my weather app, so our Wednesday picnic in the park will be on Thursday.  That seems to be the best day of the week.  Starting Saturday, temps will be dropping again.  Spring is trying to get here!

I'm going to have to call the computer store again and have them check my laptop.  It's getting so slow that it's annoying to have to do anything on it.  The technician there (we'll call him Mr. Dave) will be able to check it over and fix things with a hook-up link that is installed on both of our laptops.  For me, it's a great deal.

The U.S. Mail seems to be working much better lately.  The package that Deanne mailed for me last Friday reached its destination yesterday, right on time.  This is a hopeful sign but I think all holiday packages will probably need to be mailed out at least a month early next Winter.  Just to be on the safe side.  Of course, this means that buying/making, and wrapping and packing needs to be done that much earlier too.  Aye yi yi!

Here's a new word for you.  AntiDepressants.  And let me tell you, this really works great when you're feeling down and need a pick me up!!  (image borrowed from web)

You know, I found another image on the web that tells a very important message.  Folks need to learn to slow down long enough to let others use the same roads that we're using.  We all live on this earth so let's try to be thoughtful of others.

Well, I did more work on my tax stuff.  I think I'm just about ready to total up my columns and make an appointment to drop everything off to the accountant.  Plus, the dresses that I had ordered arrived yesterday.  Today I'll try them on to make sure they fit.  Keeping my fingers crossed.  Two of them are sundresses and one is a maxi dress.  I'd like to order at least one more maxi dress.  They are so comfortable and easy to wear.

Last evening, I put a couple more rows on my doggie ghan.  I'm thinking that it's about half done.  Now it's time to get rid of a couple more stacks of junk mail.  You know, if I had a fire pit outside, I'd just burn most of this stuff.  Hmmm, a little thought seed for my mind to think about.

Here's something else I found on the web, and thought I should share with you.   I've never heard of these things but I'll surely be on the lookout for them.

Now I'm off to read some blogs before getting started on this new day.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

How To Boil Eggs

March 8, 2021

Good morning.  Have you noticed how daylight comes earlier now?  And next Sunday we'll be turning the clocks ahead and gaining another hour of daylight at the end of the day.  I can handle more daylight!

I forgot to mention a few days ago that Deanne had brought me some Peeps.  Did you know that it's okay to eat the whole box of Peeps in one sitting?  Yup!  The package says that all five Peeps make up one serving.  And if you are watching your sodium intake, no worry.   There's no sodium in your Peeps.  (No cholesterol either!)  So I ate one serving that same day and one serving the next day.

I've had a hankering lately for egg salad, so I looked up (on Google) how to hard boil eggs in the microwave.   I did try one of those gadgets that they advertise on TV for boiling eggs.  When two of my eggs exploded in it, I got rid of it.  Google said to put the eggs in a bowl of salted water and cook for nine minutes.  Then let the eggs sit in the hot water for a few minutes.  I did this.  When the eggs had been cooled down, I put them in the refrigerator.

Next day, I took the eggs out and began to peel one of the them.  Oh YUK!  It was only partially boiled.  I tossed that egg out and put the remaining eggs back in the microwave and cooked them again for another nine minutes with several minutes of sitting in the hot water.

This worked - sort of.  I peeled the eggs, made the egg salad and promptly made myself a sandwich.  Even though it tasted wicked salty and not as I had expected, I ate it.  Big mistake!  That salad sat in my throat for the next couple hours, and not too nicely either.  The moral of this story is use the old tried and true method of boiling your eggs - in a pan of water on the stove.

I've been procrastinating lately about my tax stuff, but today it's time to dig in and try to finish them up.  Or at least come close to finished.  I'd like to leave tomorrow with a lot of free time for resting up.  I want to save my energy for my second vaccine shot on Wednesday, followed by a picnic lunch at the park.

First I'm going to do some blog reading.  Before I go, let me share an adorable image that I borrowed from the web.  It's the best way to make it through a rainy day - with a friend.

So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Keeping Busy

March 7, 2021

Good morning.  The last two days have been sort of busy (in patches of time).  I did get the bills paid and in the mail, spent some time on the tax stuff, and crocheted a few rows on my doggie ghan.  My grocery order was delivered Friday, and Deanne came by after work to help me put it all away.

Yesterday, Deanne and Eddie came by and brought me another delicious dinner.  This one was roasted chicken, rice, gravy and asparagus.  Mmmm, Mmmm.   I tell you, this being spoiled stuff is pretty nice!

Have you ever watched any of the videos on Facebook by "40 Fingers - Guitar Quartet"?  Their music is absolutely amazing.  Give yourself a treat.  Look them up and give them a listen.

Back in February, I ordered myself a couple dresses.  (from Women Within)  Unfortunately, I won't receive my order until around March 12.  In the meanwhile, a new catalogue came from the same company.  I would have loved ordering another sundress but seeing as how my order hasn't come yet and I don't know if the dresses will fit, I can't order anything else.  I wonder why companies send out so many catalogues when they can't deliver the orders in a more timely fashion.

However, this made me wonder if these same dresses can be found on Amazon.  So I looked (Women Within lounge dresses)  and behold!  I found them on Amazon!  This is good because the shipping is free on Amazon.  And, hopefully I'll get my order sooner.

I found this interesting item on the web and thought I'd share it with you.

I have a couple jars of the cheese and a few of the jelly jars so I thought I'd give it a try.  Here's my little jar with the cheese jar cover.  Awesome!  It fits!

I use my little jars as juice glasses, but now they can have a whole new life.  Sadly, I only have two jars of the cheese.  One jar is 1/3 full and the other jar is unopened.  It will be a while yet before I can put the new covers on my little jars.

Now I'm off to do some blog reading.  Please send prayers for my friend Kyra's husband Jan, who is in the hospital.  I'm praying for a speedy healing so that Jan can go home soon.

Before I go, let me leave you with this cute puzzle that I borrowed from the web.  How long will it take you to find Woodstock?

So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Lots To Do Today

March 5, 2021

Good morning.  Today is mostly cloudy with temps in the twenties.  According to my phone app, it isn't supposed to start warming up until Monday.  It's supposed to be really nice on the day I go for my next vaccine shot.  This is great because Deanne says we can have lunch in the park on the way home.

This will be a short post because I want to get started working on my pile of receipts from last year.  If I wait very long, I'll just put it off for another day.  Once I finish going through all the receipts, I'll need to write out some bills to have them ready for tomorrow's mail.  Busy, busy, busy.

My grocery order should be delivered around noon today, so I'll be busy putting that away too.  I may have bitten off a bit too much for today.  Hmmm, well at least the weekend is coming and I can nap all weekend.  hahaha.

I found this great t-shirt on the web.  Wow!  If only this were true!  Wouldn't that be awesome?

Now I really should get busy here.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Time To Get Back On Schedule

March 4, 2021

Good morning.  I took the day off yesterday, and slept late.  All morning till almost noon.  I'll admit it put me behind on my tax stuff, but I needed the extra rest time.  Deanne came by after work and brought me a bowl of lasagna for my supper (and snack, and tomorrow's supper).  Yum Yum!

I put a couple rows on the doggie ghan and started making dumb mistakes.  Time to put it down.  I basically just rested and watched TV all evening.  Today I'll have to get back on my "tax stuff" schedule.

I was up really early this morning.  Gee, I wonder why?  I made good use of my time though.  First, I got a package ready for mailing, then I put in a grocery order for delivery tomorrow.  After that, I made my breakfast.

For a while now, I've been getting email ads from Noracora women's clothes.  I looked them up on Amazon and they have so many really cute outfits and reasonable prices.  I may order something to see how they fit.

I also got an email from the health department with a link to make my appointment for the second vaccine shot next Wednesday.  I may not be posting here that day.  It all depends on how early I  get up that morning.

A lot of folks are in places where the temperatures are great for planting their gardens.  I found this great idea on the web and borrowed it to share.  Hmmm, I wonder if this would work near the rose plants.

There's not a lot happening here, so I'm off to read some blogs before getting started on this new day.  Before I go, let me leave you with a giggle.

So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Where Did This Wild Wind Come From?

March 2, 2021

Good morning.  My goodness!  Is the wind wickedly blustery in your town?  Last evening, the wind started getting quite frisky here in New England and it blew its eerie sounds all through the night and morning.  My trees are still dancing to the wind.  And it's cold.  Only 18F degrees with a chill factor of -2 degrees.

Now unless you're planning on putting on your swimsuits and going out to lay in the sun for a couple hours, PLEASE bring your animals indoors.  (even if you are sunbathing, bring them in)  And if you can, make a warm spot in your yard for the feral animals.  It doesn't cost much and can mean life or death for our precious animals.

I found this adorable image on the web and just had to borrow it to share.  Ever notice that no matter how awful we might look, our pets look at us as if we're beautiful?  Animals don't know the word "homely."

And here's another image that I borrowed from the web.  It sends a very important message.   Every time folks go to a pet store or breeder, a rescued dog or cat loses its chance at finding a forever home.  So think ADOPT, RESCUE, FOSTER.  This saves lives.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I can't help it.  It's called love me, love my quirky ways.  As long as I can speak and breathe, I'll be speaking up for our animals.

On another note, I took a day off from the tax stuff.  It's very depressing.  (to me)  I'll get back to it later today or tomorrow.  I'll even call the accountant this week to make an appointment to drop everything off to the office.

I'm expecting an email from the health department about an appointment for my second vaccine shot.  They said they would contact me about a week before the shot is due.  It would be due next week, so I figure I should get the email tomorrow.  We'll see.

Now I'm going to do some blog reading.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Welcome March

March 1, 2021

Good morning.  Today is the first day of another new month.  March.  It's a gray, drizzly day with temps in the low forties, and a lot of the snow has been melting away.  Here's the March page from my calendar.

There's not much new happening here.  I worked on my tax stuff again yesterday afternoon.  A couple more afternoons with it and I should have most (or all) of it ready to give to the accountant.  I put a couple more rows on the doggie ghan, and that's about it.  Here's a photo of the doggie ghan so far.

Today is a rather lackadaisical day.   I need a bit more sunshine to gather some more energy.  Do you have neighbors or friends who cannot get outside and walk around in the fresh air?  Give them a call or drop a note to let them know they are not alone.  (not me, I get lots of calls and visits)

Winter time is an especially difficult time to get through when you are shut indoors all the time.  I guess it's the lack of fresh air and sunshine that gets to you.  Plus, if a person is alone they can become depressed.  This makes that phone call or note so very important.  It doesn't cost much to watch out for each other.  Just some effort and maybe a stamp or two.

I got a late start today, and now I'm off to find some fun mischief to get into.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.
