Say Farewell To June

June 30, 2021

Good morning.   My goodness, we've reached the end of June already.  And hopefully, these wicked hot temps.  Today will probably hit 100 degrees, then around seven p.m. the temps should drop around twenty degrees or more.  My phone app says we'll get some rain early this evening.  That sure would be nice.

Yesterday, I took the day off from my computer.  I think the heat makes me tired.  I did crochet a few rows, but even that was not holding my interest.  Deanne says in a few days, (after the heat wave is over)  she'll take me for an ice cream.  Now THAT peaks my interest!  I've been dreaming of a Dairy Queen ice cream cone for days.  How did she know?

I know I've mentioned before that my daughter Audrey and her husband both do taxidermy.  Not my cup of tee.  But I did find this adorable crochet pattern book.  How cute is this!  (still not my cup of tea)

I got another book in the mail yesterday that I never ordered.  I wrote "Return - Never Ordered" on it and I'm putting it back out for the mail to pick up.  I wonder why these companies insist on sending these unordered books out along with invoices?

One of my favorite TV channels is now gone from the Comcast lineup.  Shop LC is no longer available to me.  I called the shopping station and they said to ask Comcast.  Comcast, after three very long phone calls, said that Shop LC just left cable.  I ended up having to put an icon on my cell phone so that I could watch some of this program.  It's just another reason to get rid of cable.

So far, my tomatoes are doing fine.  There's nothing ready for picking, but there are lots of little green tomatoes.  So far, the heat hasn't bothered them.  One tomato is about an inch and a half wide.  Woo Hoo!

There's not much news here so I'm off to do some blog reading.  Before I go, let me leave you with this adorable picture of a Mama Sloth with her Babies.  What a beautiful family!

So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Steamy Temps!

June 28, 2021

Good morning.  It's super nice outside right now, but soon it will be very very hot.  Our temps will be in the nineties for a few days.  Just a tad bit too warm for me.  I'll be staying indoors with the air conditioner keeping me comfortable.

Yesterday I finished the baby blanket.  Oh my, it is soooo pretty!   Once that was done, I spent the rest of the afternoon playing with the music on my laptop.  Such a fun way to while away the day.

I found something super interesting on the web and just had to borrow it to share.  I have never seen anything like it before.  It's awesome!   I'll also include the description that the author had posted.

Ever wonder how all the small critters and the birds handle these wicked hot temperatures?  If you don't already have a bird bath in your yard, now would be a good time to put one there.  The birds and small critters will be so thankful for the water.

(image borrowed from web)  There's not a lot happening here so I'm going to make a cup of coffee and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Keeping Busy

June 27, 2021

Good morning.  Wow, we are almost out of June!  Time is marching by rather quickly.  Do you realize that Christmas is only 181 days away?  And Hanukkah is only 154 days away?  Maybe it's time to start thinking about shopping?

I already have a few things set aside for Christmas.  And I already know what I'm giving my kids.  How about you?    I'd like to say that I'm going to start wrapping things early, but -- well, I know me.  What I'd like to say and what I really do are usually two different things.

Yesterday, I filled two thumb drives with all sorts of music for my cousin.  When I was done, I wondered if maybe it was too much for her.  So, this morning, I started to filter some of the music into a separate folder for her.  My cousin barely knows how to use a thumb drive.  So, maybe a folder full of music might be easier for her than two thumb drives filled with folders full of different kinds of music.

(image borrowed from web)  I can sit and listen to old songs all day and all night long.

We're in for a heat wave here in New England.  Today's temps will hit ninety degrees, and the next few days will be in the mid to upper nineties.  Thank goodness for my air conditioner.

My tomato plants are looking promising.  There are several small green tomatoes on them.  Woo Hoo!  I go out in the evening or very early morning and water them.  I can't wait till I can pick my first tomato!

There's not much else happening here, so I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Enjoying The Showers And The Cooler Temps

June 25, 2021

Good morning.  Tis cool and gray today.  We had bits of rain on and off during the night.  This is good.  I won't have to go out and water the plants today.  I'm enjoying the cooler temps while we have them.  In a few days, the wicked heat from the West will catch up with us.

This morning, I followed the news about the building that collapsed in Surfside, Florida.  The death toll is now at four, with 159 people still unaccounted for.  Today machines are being brought in to remove large pieces of rubble in hopes of finding more people.  Hopefully, alive.

I was able to sleep a bit later this morning,  Then I started to go through some of the music on my laptop and got caught up in enjoying it.    Over the years, my brother and my hubby and I collected tons of wonderful music.  It's difficult to play just one song.  Some of our music goes way back to the late 1800's.  Of course, the real old stuff is very scratchy, but very interesting to listen to.

One song I played reminds me of my graduation from high school, sixty four years ago.  I'm not allowed to post it here for you to hear.  It is the Statler Brothers singing "The Class Of 57."   Wow, memories!  Do you remember the song "Mairzy Doats"?  I listened to that too!    Here are the lyrics to "Mairzy Doats."  The song was written in 1943, and first recorded in 1944 by the Pied Pipers.

Before I leave today, let me share this image that I borrowed from the.  (You DO have the power!)

Now I'm off to put some of my music on a thumb drive to send to my cousin Anita.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Package Day

June 24, 2021

Good morning.  Well, yesterday was Package Day!  The hangars that I had ordered came.  Super!  The batteries came too!  Next package was the forks.  And the last package was very light and thin.  Oh no!!  It was empty!!  Deanne and I both double checked, but the package was still empty.

I opened the forks and they were too long for what I like.  So I called Amazon and they sent me a label to return the forks.  They also put in a new order for replacement spoons that would arrive here on Friday.  Well, guess what???  The mailman came a little while ago and he had a package for me from Amazon.  It was my spoons!!  Now how about that for service!!!

When Deanne got here yesterday, she opened the bottle of prune juice for me.  Easy Peasy.  Oh, to be young again!  Now that I've had a glass of the juice, it doesn't taste as good as I thought it did.  Alas, waste not, want not.  I'll drink it.

Today, Deanne is going to bring me Shepherd's Pie for my supper.  Yummy!  I know that will taste super!  I'm not sure how it came about, I have never been a great fan of cooking.  But all my children became great cooks.

I found this image on the web and just had to borrow it to share with you.  It gave me the giggles, and I hope it will start your day off with the giggles too.  Awesome doggie!

Yesterday I did a bit of crocheting on each project.  The pink pocket wrap is a little more than half done, the red pocket wrap is almost half done, and the baby blanket is more than half done.  Meanwhile my mind is busy thinking of my next projects.  Hmmmm!

Oh, guess what???  I found a couple teeny green tomatoes on the other tomato plant yesterday.  Woo Hoo!  My tomatoes are now about a quarter inch and a half inch thick.  This could be the year I get to eat my own home grown tomatoes!

For all my friends who are going on trips soon, here's an image I found that shows the speed limits for the different states.

Now I'm going to get a cold bottle of water and do some blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Tis Another Beautiful Day

June 23, 2021

Good morning.  It's another early (very early) morning for me.  And I've been busy.  After I finish this post, I'll make my breakfast.  Then I'll be ready to start this new day.  (probably with a nap!)

Yesterday we had some heavy rain showers, then we got more rain during the evening and night.  Today we should have lots of sunshine and temps in the mid seventies.  A perfect day.

Today I'm expecting some packages from Amazon.  I'm rather short on teaspoons, so that's one of the things that I ordered.  It's funny, the things we run out of.  Who would have thought I'd run out of teaspoons?  But over time, some spoons do get lost.

I ordered some salad forks too.  I prefer to eat with the shorter salad fork than with the longer dinner fork.  I think it's time to clean out and re-do my silverware drawer.  Maybe that can be a project for tomorrow, after the new silverware gets here.

I found this image on the web and it rather suits me to a tee.  hahaha.

Well, I will be after I have my coffee!

Has anyone noticed that some bottle caps are put on extra tight?  Deanne picked up a bottle of prune juice for me the other day and I haven't been able to drink any of it because I can't open the bottle.  I do have a round rubber thing to help me open bottles and jars, but it is not working on this bottle.  I'll see if Deanne can open it when she stops by.

I found this interesting image on the web and borrowed it to share.  I never gave much thought to what it means when you find a feather.  And, I've never found a pink or a yellow feather.  I have found grey feathers.  How about any of you?

Now I'm going to head for the kitchen and make some breakfast.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

My Apologies To Clyde

June 22, 2021

Good morning.  Gosh, it seems like I've been up all night.  Actually, I did get up early, around 4:30 am.  And I've been busy ever since!

First, let me apologize to Clyde.  I called him a hamster and he's not a hamster.  Clyde is a guinea pig!  I'm so sorry, Clyde.  If I don't get many cherry tomatoes on my plant, I'll buy you a box of them at the market.  Am I forgiven?

Yesterday, I got a package and I set it aside to open later.  It was the new dresses that I had ordered.  This morning I opened the package and I'm really happy with my new dresses.  But, I had to go online to Amazon and order a few hangars so that I can hang my dresses up.

I like the lounge dresses in the Woman Within catalog.  They come in two lengths.  Short and Long.  I buy the Short, but they fit me as though they were Long.  I'm only five feet tall.

In the top photo, I ordered the Bright Gold Floral short dress.  It will fit me like the long pink dress at the bottom of the picture.  In the second photo, I ordered two short dresses.  The dress at the top left, Evening Blue Vines, and the blue dress on the right, Caribbean Blue Paisley. These dresses are so comfortable and I wear them everywhere.

I also have a photo of the new baby blanket that I'm making.  I bought the yarn from Hobby Lobby.  It's their line called "I Love This Yarn" and the color is called Parcel & Bow.  I'm not sure what that means, but I love the colors.

We're supposed to get some rain this afternoon (according to my famous phone app) so maybe I won't have to go out and water the plants later.  We'll have to wait and see.

I also bought myself a new book.  This one summarizes and explains all the books of the Bible.  I've read the Bible, (quite a while ago)  but it's very deep and not always easy to understand.

Now I'm going to do some blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Lots Of Little Green Tomatoes!

June 21, 2021

Good morning.  It's looking like another beautiful (but hot, later) day.  I was outside on the porch earlier this morning for a while and it was really nice.  I checked on all my tiny little green tomatoes.  Yup, there are several of them.

So far, all the tiny green tomatoes are on the cherry tomato plant.  The other plant doesn't have any yet.  That one will be much bigger tomatoes so maybe it just takes longer?

I did promise to share some of the cherry tomatoes with Deanne's hamster, Clyde.  So, hopefully, I'll be able to keep that promise.  These are Clyde's favorite snacks.

The other day, Audrey and I were talking about one of our past vacations in Florida, and you know, I really miss going there for my two weeks.  I gave up my timeshares, so there's no going back.  But, I wonder if the management there leases the empty units by the week?  Hmmm, just a thought.

The new camera/TV screen that Eddie installed is really very helpful for me.  I can see when the mailman comes, when a package is delivered, when the trash barrels are emptied, etc.  Except of course when I doze off, then I miss it all.  It will take a while for me to get used to this new screen.

This morning I did crochet a while on the red pocket wrap.  Later, I'll work on the baby blanket.  I defrosted the container of meat sauce that I made a few days ago, so I'll cook up a pot of pasta this afternoon.

Now it's time for me to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Happy Birthday Gary Jr, and Happy Father's Day To You, Eddie And Mac

June 20, 2021

Good morning.  I got up early this morning.  (4:30 am.)  It rained last evening, so everything is a bit wet.  This is good because all the plants were needing a drink.  Temps will be in the high eighties today, with lots of sunshine.

Today is my son, Gary Jr's birthday.  Happy Birthday Gary Jr.  I wish you a day filled with love and happiness.  It's also Fathers' Day.  Happy Fathers' Day to all my guys, Gary Jr, Eddie, Mac and Sean.  And Happy Fathers' Day to all the fathers everywhere.

I got a lovely surprise on Friday.  Deanne's friend from work (Mina) sent me a beautiful plant.  Isn't this pretty?   Thank you Mina.  I love it!

Yesterday, Eddie installed a camera and TV screen for me so that I can see who is coming into my yard without having to leave the door open.  It really does make things easier for me.  Thanks Eddie.

Earlier, I crocheted a while on the pink pocket wrap.  I did take a photo of the baby blanket, but the colors aren't coming out right, so I'll try again later.  I'm going to do some blog reading shortly, then I'm going to have me a nap.  This getting up wicked early has me tiring early.

Let me share another photo of one of Deanne's roses.  She has the most beautiful roses!

Now I'm going to make a cup of coffee and do some blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Warmer Temps Coming Back

June 18, 2021

Good morning.  It's early, a little after 6:30 a.m.  I woke up around 3:30 and decided to get a few things done.  Which I did.  Then I made some breakfast.   Temps today should reach eighty degrees.  The beginning of several days in the eighties.  Monday is supposed to be a scorcher.

Deanne sent me some photos of the swan families in the park.  Here's one of the photos.  Our park and it's inhabitants are really beautiful.

Today will be a quiet day here.  I will demolish a bag of junk mail.  Then I'll take a photo of the new baby blanket.  Hopefully, all the pastel colors will show.

I guess the TV stations have already set up their summer program schedules because none of my favorites are on at the same time any more.  So, I either watch a different program or switch over to the kids programs on PBS for a while.

I was watching SHOP LC but I couldn't stand listening to the host's voice for very long.  It was loud and annoying (to me).  So, now I'm watching The New Detectives.  They explain everything they do, step by step.  It's a learning process.

Here's a photo of another plant in my garden.  This is Fleabane.  And yes, part of it is edible.  If you like, I can post a recipe.

I don't know the name of one of my plants.  If any of you know it, could you please let me know?  Thanks.

Shortly, I'm going to go outside and water my plants before it gets too warm.  Yesterday, I thought I saw a second teeny green tomato.  I'll take another look to be sure.  Yesterday, Deanne already had FIVE tiny green tomatoes on her plant!

So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Woo Hoo! A Teeny Tiny Green Tomato!

June 17, 2021

Good morning.  Yesterday was a "catch up on my sleep" day.  I did not get much sleep during the night, and I just had no energy all day.  So if I don't show up here once in a while, you'll know that I'm catching up on naps.

My grocery order did arrive, and there were four items missing.  I guess WalMart needs to do a bit of re-stocking.  Maybe I'll try again next week to see if the missing items are back in stock.

I did start the new baby blanket yesterday.  Gosh, it is so pretty!  I'll try to take a photo of it to share.  Hopefully, the colors will show up unchanged.  Sometimes, colors seem to change when the photo is sent from my phone to my computer.  Without Photoshop on my laptop, I can't try to fix the colors.  As soon as I remove the "S mode" from my laptop, I'll see about installing a program that will allow me to fix my photos.

I found this image on the web, and thought I'd share it.  Knitting and crocheting are addictive.  And it's amazing how one can turn a hunk of yarn into something really beautiful.

Yesterday, Deanne checked my tomato plants and found one teeny tiny green tomato.  Woo Hoo!  I just might get a tomato this year!!  I forgot to go out last night and water the plants so I'll have to do that as soon as I finish this post.

I saw a photo on the web of a woman and all six of her generations.  Amazing.  She was 115 years old.  If I see five generations, that will be something.  My great grandchildren are all growing up now so it's a possibility.  (one is in college already and two are in high school)

That's about all my news for today, now I'm off to do some blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Keeping Busy

June 15, 2021

Good morning.  We did get bits of rain yesterday (small bits), and we may get more today.  It's a good day to stay in and watch "Everything Under $10" on TV.  Which is what I've been doing all morning so far.  Nope, I haven't bought anything, but it has been fun seeing all the great bargains.

Today we have two birthdays.  My grandson, Bobby, and my stepson, Sean.  Happy Birthday guys.  I wish you both a day full of happiness and love.

I did not get around to making my pasta and meat sauce yesterday, so that's on my agenda for today.  I also want to get my laptop to the repair shop so that they can undo the "S" mode.  But only if I can get it back the same day.  I'll have to give them a call to make sure they have time to do this for me.

Tomorrow I should be getting a grocery delivery from WalMart.  They are putting restrictions on how many of an item I can purchase.  Ex:  If I usually order 6, now I can only order 2.  I wonder what difference it makes how many I buy of an item.  It just means that I have to order more often, which in turn costs more in delivery charges.  Hmmm, am I seeing a motive?   (Or maybe they've run out of some products?  If so, I wonder why they don't just say so.)

Today I'd like to start the new baby blanket, and I think I've decided to stick with the chevron pattern.  It really is quite pretty,  In between cooking pasta and crocheting, I have another bag of junk mail to go through.  (the junk mail may have to wait till tomorrow)

I have some photos of my white roses to share.

Mother Nature really is beautiful, isn't she?  Now if only I could get my tomato plants to blossom forth with beautiful fruits.  They have been loaded with little yellow flowers (which I thought would be tomatoes) but now I notice that a lot of those little flowers have died.    So far, I don't see any small green tomatoes.

I've decided that this will probably be the last year that I try growing tomatoes.  I put a lot of effort into them and they don't give me any fruit.  Maybe next year I could try a green bean plant?

It's time now for me to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Big Beautiful Blooms

June 14, 2021

Good morning.  It must have rained a speck in the wee hours because there are wet spots on my car.  Plus there's a puddle out front at the end of the driveway.  We could use a little rain.

The question has been asked "Is John Cameron Swayze related to Patrick Swayze?"  The answer is yes, they were sixth cousins once removed.  Hmmm, I wonder if they knew this.  (info supplied by Google)

Today I thought I'd share photos of my peonies.  They are big and beautiful.  The pale pink ones will be huge once all the petals open up.

I had a busy crochet day yesterday.  First I finished the yellow baby blanket.  Then I put several more rows on each of the pocket wraps.  I would have started the new baby blanket, but I haven't decided on which pattern to use.  Most of the time, I use a chevron pattern.  I tend to like that one the best.  Today I'll look over some of my patterns and decide.

It's getting rather gray outside my door so maybe we have more rain coming?  Hmmm, today might be a good day to make a meat sauce and a pot of pasta.  And maybe some garlic bread?  Oh yum!

I didn't spend much time on the computer yesterday so I have some catching up to do with my blog reading today.  So now I'm going to make a cup of coffee and settle in for some fun reading.  Till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

T'was A Fun Shopping Trip

June 13, 2021

Good morning.  Tis another gorgeous Spring day today.   Such a wonderful surprise I gor this morning.  I woke up at 4:50 a.m. and it was daylight outside!  In seven more days, on June 20th, it will be the longest day of this year.

Yesterday, Deanne and Eddie and I went shopping at Ocean State Job Lot.  It felt good to leisurely wander around the aisles and see all the goodies.  Of course, I can only wander for a short while and then my back and legs tend to give out.  But I'm happy for the wandering that I do get.

When we got home, the first thing I did was to get back into my jammies and under the covers for a nap.  I'm finding that I can't "take a licking and keep on ticking" anymore.  I think that phrase came from an old ad for Timex watches.

Do you remember who made the commercials?  It was John Cameron Swayze, and it was he who made the line "takes a licking and keeps on ticking" so famous.  He died August 17, 1995.

While wandering around on the web the other day, I came across this fascinating image.  It shows how much money you need to earn in order to be able to buy a house in each of our states.  I was surprised to learn that my state (MA) was one of the most expensive states.  Click on the picture to make it large enough to read the numbers.

I managed to put a few more rows on my crochet projects, and today I'll add a few more rows to each of them.  I also need to make a grocery order to be delivered early this week.  Maybe tomorrow I'll make a meat sauce.  After that, well, we'll see how things go.

Here are photos of my Knock Out Roses.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Awesome Spring Weather

June 11, 2021

Good morning.  Today is another beautiful day here in New England.  Lots of sunshine and temps in the seventies.  The weatherman says it is here for a while.  We'll definitely take it and enjoy it!

There's not much happening right now.  Today I've been watching the Shop LC channel.  Everything is $9.99 or under.  I'm being good, not buying anything.  But, I have been tempted!  Some of the bargains have been great.   They now have two days each week for $9.99 and under.  I'll have to watch both days. (Tuesday and Friday)

I haven't been in the mood for crocheting lately, but I did manage to put a few rows on the red pocket wrap last night.  It now has fifty one rows done.  Later today, I'll work on the pink pocket wrap.  I really should get back to finishing the yellow baby blanket too.  I'd like to get started soon on the new one.

I guess I've just been in a funky mood lately.  Hopefully, it is passing and things can get back to normal for me.  Well, sort of normal.  Once you retire, your life seems to take on a new normal.  A year and a half ago, I would think nothing of hopping in my car and going for a ride somewhere.  I'd like to be able to do that again.

Yesterday, after another hefty downfall of rain, Audrey was able to take this photo outside her home.  Isn't this beautiful?  Thank you Audrey for sharing this with us.

And today I have photos of one of my rose bushes to share.  This one has such delicate, beautiful blossoms.

Deanne and I have decided to go shopping tomorrow.  We'll have more time and we won't have to hurry.  Sounds good to me.  Now I'm off to do some blog reading.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Delightful Drop In Temps

June 10, 2021

Good morning.  Today is sunny and cooler.  Today's temp should be around 70F degrees with overcast clouds all day.  Sounds like gorgeous to me!

Deanne came by yesterday and sprayed the tomato plant, after picking off all the affected leaves.  Here's hoping it does the trick.  I guess it just seemed too good to be true that this particular tomato plant was growing like a weed.  Now it is tall and skinny.  sighhh.

Last week I ordered a new book and it came a couple days ago.  It's about wild foods, and it's really quite interesting.

Did you know that the bulbs of the Tiger Lily are edible?  Here's a recipe for you. (from the book)

No, I'm not planning on shopping for tonight's dinner in my yard, but this type of information is good to know.  Plus it makes for very interesting reading.

I have no special plans for today.  I'll go outside for a little while, then hopefully I can take a nice nap.  I woke up a lot during the night and didn't really get lots of sleep.  So I'm really looking forward to that nap.

One day this week, Deanne and I are going shopping at Ocean State Job Lot.  I'll be picking up a new garden hose.  I really should make a list of things to look for.  I also need to pick up a couple expandable folders.  I keep my tax information in these.

Now I'm off to read a few blogs.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Fun Stamps

June 9, 2021

Good morning.  Temps are going down a few degrees today, and according to my phone, we should be getting a little rain.  Of course, my phone doesn't always get it right. But that's okay.  I'm getting used to my phone's quirky ways.

Yesterday afternoon the thunder rolled in.  It got noisy for a while, and then the rain started.  I think all one hundred and seventeen drops fell on my car.  At some point during the night, it must have rained a bit more because there are a couple puddles in the yard.

Those new stamps that I had ordered came a couple days ago.  Here's what the Halloween stamps look like.  I'll save them for my October mail.

My flower gardens aren't doing so good this year.  None of my beautiful big irises appear to be coming up this year.  However, the Knock Out Roses are doing just fine.

I only crocheted a few rows yesterday.  Some days I'm just not in the mood.  Instead, I did a few Word Search puzzles.  Today I'll be watching a lot of Law & Order, Criminal Intent on WE channel.  It's on all day.

Deanne will be stopping by after work today.  The spray for the tomato plants came yesterday so we'll get to spray the plants today.  I hope this helps.  I was hoping for a bumper crop of tomatoes this year.  To be honest, even one tomato from each plant will be a big plus!

Now I'm off to do some blog reading.  I'm finally getting  caught up reading them.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Tick Season Is Here

Good morning.  Tis another really warm one today.  After tomorrow, temps should drop back down into the low seventies.  I'm lucky, though.  I have air conditioning to help keep the house cool.

Friday, Deanne and I are going shopping at Ocean State Job Lot.  Woo Hoo!  It's going to be a fun outing.  I'll have to make a list of things to look for.  A new garden hose will be at the top of the list.  (I don't really need a list.  I just enjoy shopping at that store.)

Today will be a lazy, relaxing day.  (what else is new?)  I'm going to crochet a while, at least until both pocket wraps have at least fifty rows done.  After that, I want to shop around to see what sort of travel is available between here and Bradford, PA.  Why, you say?

Did you know that July 24 is National Cousins Day?  Wouldn't it be nice if I could go to Pennsylvania and meet my cousin Anita in person?  I think so.  I could drive there, or fly there.  There is an airport there.  (I checked.  And I think that Jet Blue flies there.)  Well, it's certainly something to think about!

Today I have a photo to share that shows how Deanne and Eddie keep Sassy cool while they are working in their yard.  Isn't she a cutie pie?

When you are outside enjoying your yard, be careful of ticks.  This is tick season and they are everywhere.  I borrowed this next image from web to share.

Now I'm off to do some blog reading.  Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

A Day With A Surprise Ending

June 7, 2021

Good morning.  Today will be hot hot hot.  I think I'll just stay in and demolish a big bag of junk mail.  Yup, that's my project for today.  Yesterday, I was busy all day and evening, and as soon as I can think of what it was that kept me so busy, I'll share it.

One thing that I do every now and then is to stop whatever I'm doing and look into another place for my missing external drive.  Last night, while writing a letter to a friend, I thought of a couple more places to look, so I did just that.  Nope, nope, and nope.  Just one more place to look -- in the carry case where I keep my little laptop.  Well, la dee dah!!!  There it was!!!  All tucked in so that I could not lose it or misplace it. Woo Hoo!

A couple years ago, we planted two little rose plants in the yard not far from my porch.  This year, they have the most beautiful blossoms!  Here are some photos of them.

Oh how I miss using Photoshop to crop and brighten up my photos.  Alas, I do not have it on this laptop.  And, I'm thinking of not putting it here either.  Unless I can figure out how to put just the small portion of the program that I use on the laptop.

My tomato plants are growing nicely.  BUT, one of them is being infected with a disease that is turning some of its leaves yellow.  I ordered some spray for this and it will get here tomorrow.  Hopefully, this will help my plant.

Today I need to figure out how I'm going to get me and this new laptop downtown to the repair shop so that I can see if they can shut of the "S" mode.  After that, I will be able to put my puzzle program on here.  I miss doing my jig saw puzzles.

That's about all my news for today.  Now I'm off to get a nice cold bottle of water and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

We're Having A Heat Wave

June 6, 2021

Good morning.  Today's going to be a warm one!  And tomorrow is going to be even hotter!  I've been going out at night right about when it's getting dark to water the plants.   That's the tomato plants and the porch flowers.  Deanne already has a small tomato on one of her tomato plants.  I have lots of yellow flowers, but no tomatoes yet.

While I was out there last night, I took a photo of that little mosquito plant that arrived broken.  It has grown a couple new leaves and is on its way to growing up to be a big plant.  Of course, I'll have to re-pot it soon.  All the little Aloe Vera plants (shoots from my big plant) are doing just fine.  I don't know what I'll do with all of them, but I'll figure it out before summer is over.

Here's a photo of the little mosquito plant.  Sorry it's not a great photo.

There have been several power outages around here lately, and I just got another alert on my phone that there is another outage not far from here.  I wonder what that's all about?  Hmmm.

A few days ago, I went online and ordered four ten pound bags of bird seed from WalMart to be delivered Monday (tomorrow).  The bird seed arrived here a couple days ago.  Now that's service!

I managed to do a little crocheting over the weekend.  Now I have forty one rows on each of the two pocket wraps that I'm working on.  One hundred and nineteen more rows to go on each of them, and then the pockets.

Yesterday, I took a photo of the pink rose tree.  It is covered with beautiful blossoms.  I do have to order some plant stakes to help keep it's branches away from the screens on the windows.  That can be my project for today.  Here's a photo of these pink beauties.

There is one white rose bush in my little garden near the porch, and it has fat buds on it.  I imagine pretty soon these buds should bloom.  I'll be sure to take photos.

Now I'm off to do some blog reading.  If I don't get to your blog soon, drop me a line and let me know.  I still have a few blog links to find.  Before I go, here's an interesting image that I borrowed from the web to share.

So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Getting A Late Start Today

June 4, 2021

Good morning.  Wow!  I got up early this morning, had a popsicle and went back to sleep.  I just woke up and the morning is almost gone.  This post will have to be short because I have a lot to do in a short time.  First, let me share this with you.  I borrowed it from the web, and it describes my days almost perfectly.

Yesterday, I managed to find most of my blog links and was able to get caught up with most of them.  It's still a work in progress for me.  Today I'm going to do errands.  Deanne is coming by after work to pick me up.  Last week I bought some clothes and today I'm returning them.  They don't fit me comfortably.  I'm sort of in between two sizes.

Have you ever ordered your postage stamps online?  It's really quite a help when you can't get out to the Post Office in person.  They have a nice selection and the shipping is under $2.  However, you do need to order them a couple weeks before you need them because it takes almost that long to arrive in the mail.    I found (and ordered) a wonderful new set of stamps to use during the month of October.   They have Halloween images on them.  When I get them, I'll take a photo to share with you.

Now I really must be getting ready to go out. So, till Sunday, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

All Wrapped Up

June 3, 2021

Good morning.  My phone app says that today will be in the mid sixties with lots of clouds and maybe even some rain.  And that's what it looks like outside my door.  I did go out earlier to water my flowers and tomato plants.

Yesterday, I was able to make up a partial list of my morning blogs (with links to each one).  Today I'll try to get the rest of the links.  I did manage to catch up with a few blogs.  However, I still have quite a ways to go to get caught up.

Some time ago, I was asked to see a photo of the Raspberry pocket wrap.  Deanne tried it on so that I could get this photo.  I really like these wraps.  If anyone makes one, I'd love to see a photo of your wrap.

One of these days, I need to finish the yellow baby blanket.  It only needs about six more rows.  I already have the yarn to make another baby blanket.  I have some really pretty variegated yarn that I bought especially for this.

Last night, I paid a stack of bills and realized that it's time to order more stamps and checks.  So that will be my project for today.  One of these days, I need to see my eye doctor too.  It's time for a pair of new glasses.

I just brought the mail in and I have a new letter from my pen pal.  Do you have a pen pal?  Do you remember having one many years ago?  I had a couple of them way back when.

Well, that's about all my news for today.  Before I leave, let me share a beautiful photo that Deanne took at the park a few days ago.  It's so peaceful.

Now I'm off to read some blogs and find more of my favorite blog links.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous day.
