I'll See You All Next Year!!!

December 30, 2016

Good morning.  Today is cold, but the sun is shining.  A lovely way to end the year.  Yesterday's rain came intermittingly, and changed over to snow around suppertime.  We only got about an inch, just enough to cover everything.  Already a little of it has melted.

Yesterday, I was going to take more photos, but I did not get around to it, so I'll do it today.  It was just sort of a lazy day for me.  I did wash the dishes and feed Pogo though, so all was not lost.  This morning I got caught up a bit on my blog reading, so today is starting out a bit perkier.

My plans for today are to set up my new induction burner and try it out.  I may even try out one of my new pans.  Today might be a good day to make a pan of pasta and sauce.  Mmmm, yup, that sounds downright tasty!

Pogo has been more picky than usual lately, so I'm not really sure what to cook for him.  Last night he turned up his little nose at a very tasty steak.  I guess I'll have to eat it for him.  Oh yes, in my house it is definitely okay to eat off the doggie dish.  As long as you like your food cut up into very small pieces.  Most of the time you'll be eating steak or hamburger.  Even bacon.  Sometimes I cook up some bacon to tempt my little guy into eating.

I found a couple photos on the web that I think are simply beautiful, and wanted to share with you here.  I found them on a site named HypeDojo.  Can you tell I love animals?

I was thinking of going grocery shopping this morning, but daughter Deanne is going to be stopping by, so maybe I'll go later.  I don't really need very much so it won't matter if I don't go at all.  Pogo and I have plenty of food in the house.

Now I think I'll get dressed and tidy up the place a bit.  It will be nice to sit and chat with my daughter for a while.  This will be a very busy weekend, and the next time I see her, or all of you, will be in the New Year.

On that note, let me wish all of you a safe and happy New Year's Eve.  Please remember to take along a designated driver if you're planning to go partying and have a drink of two.  Y'all have a fantabulous day now, and a Happy New Year.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Quick Page For Old Memories

December 29, 2016

Good morning.  Today is gray with a very good chance of rain for most of the day and maybe part of the evening.  I guess I'll do my grocery shopping tomorrow morning.  I'm not really crazy about shopping in the rain.

Well, yesterday after work, DIL Janet came by and we had a lovely visit getting caught up on each other's news.  After we had supper, we opened presents and watched a bit of TV.  Wow, Janet really spoils me.  She not only brought me a bag full of presents, but she also brought home-baked cookies, lemon cake, lemon squares (by now you must have guessed that I like lemon!) and a blueberry pie.  Later today, I'll take more photos later today.

Today I have some photos of a few more of the gifts that Pogo and I received from two of our friends.  A new duster to take on my vacation, and a new sweater for Pogo.  There was also some craft tote bags and a coffee mug.  (they don't show)  Pogo also got a handsome digital art photo of him and his friend Izzi,, and I got two beautiful books of my friend Andrea's creative digital art.

I also got some wonderful news this week.  Daughter Deanne was approved for her LTC (license to carry).  She'll have to wait a couple more weeks to pick it up though because of her city's backlog.  Congratulations Deanne!!

I was going to try out my new ergonomic crochet hooks the other night, but I did not get around to crocheting, so tonight I'll be trying them out.  They have soft rubber handles, and each hook is a different color.  I ordered myself a little carry bag to put them in, and that order arrived last evening.

Today I need to put a few of  our new things away.  On my next trip out to do errands, I'll pick up a couple frames for Pogo's new pictures.  Then we'll find a place on the wall to hang them.  I have just the place in mind.

Yesterday, I made a scrap page using one of Kyra's kits "Memories Are Time Machines."  I found a photo of a cousin of mine on the web, and I downloaded it.  I used this photo and a photo of my brother to feature on the scrap page.

I've made the layout into a quick page for you.  I hope you you can use it.

Here is your download link:

Now it's time for me to get a few things done around here.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

So Many Blessings

December 28, 2016

Good morning.  Tis on the cloudy side today, and temps should reach about 40F degrees.  Not so bad for this time of year.  Tomorrow we're supposed to have some rain, so maybe I'll wait till Friday to go grocery shopping.  We'll see.

Yesterday the mailman brought packages, and so did the UPS guy.  Wow!  My new induction burner is here along with a few more presents for Pogo and me.  I'll take some photos today to share here tomorrow.

Hopefully, DIL Janet will be coming by later today after work.  She wasn't able to come by last week, so we have lots to catch up on.  I've saved a couple episodes of our favorite TV program so that we can watch them together.

Today I thought I'd share photos of a few of my great grandchildren.  As you can see, they all had a very happy Christmas.  First we have Alima, who has learned to walk.  Then we have her big brother and sister, Jack and Lilah.  Next is Aurora (she'll be walking soon) and then we have Alena, who is wearing her new dress.  I am so very blessed.

My goodness, I just looked up towards the front door, and the sun is shining.  Looks like it will be a great day after all.  In a little while, I'll open the door and put Pogo's little scatter rug down so that he can sit by the door and watch the birds and critters outside.

This afternoon, I'd like to spend some time on my laptop creating a couple new quick pages.  After that, it will be time to start a new backup of all my files.  It's been a while since I've backed everything up.

It's time for me to start shopping for airline tickets for my upcoming trip to Florida.  It takes a while to shop around for the best price.  After that, I'll start practicing how to pack a little bag.  (haha)

Well, that's my news for today.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Sleepless In New England

December 27, 2016

Good morning.  I slept in late this morning, and then did a few things before settling down to post here.  Now it's almost noon.  Where does the time go?  Today is warm, 50F degrees outside.  Woo Hoo!  Let's not get too excited though because tomorrow will be back in the upper 30's.

Gosh, last night I just could not get to sleep.  I would doze off for a bit, then something would wake me.  This went on all night, so it's no wonder that I tried sleeping very late this morning.  Even Pogo was a bit restless.  He bed-hopped most of the night.  First to his little sofa, then to his comfy chair.  Then he would want to be put up on the big sofa.  This went on for a while until he finally fell into a nice deep sleep.    (it will be nice when he gets used to his steps)

Today I was going to post photos of all the wonderful gifts that I got for Christmas, so I tried putting them all on one page layout.  This is most of them.  The box of rice, along with cooking instructions, came with a new microwave.  I've left the plastic on the doll's arms until I find the perfect spot for her in my doll hutch.  Isn't she beautiful?

I will be having fun for quite a while with some of my new projects, and watching my Trump Chia plant grow a full head of hair.  I'm also anxious to try my new ergonomic crochet hooks.  They are supposed to make it so much easier to crochet for longer periods of time with no discomfort to the hands.   I want to thank my family and all my wonderful blogger friends for these awesome gifts.

Today I'm waiting for two more boxes to arrive, one from a friend and one should be my new induction burner.  After the burner comes, I can try out the new square pan that Pogo got for me.  Right now, I see a UPS truck pulling up out front so I'll have to go now.  This could be my packages.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I Hope Everyone Had A Wonderful Christmas

December 26, 2016

Good morning.  Gosh, I hope everyone's Christmas was as wonderful as mine and Pogo's was.  In the wee hours of the night, I had a nice chat with Santa while he warmed up with a cup of hot cocoa.  Then he was off on his journey again, and I drifted off  to sleep for a while.

Early in the morning, Pogo and I had a fun time opening our presents.  Oh my, between Santa, our friends, and our family, we were pleasantly spoiled.  Santa brought Pogo the steps he had asked for, and a huge fuzzy blanket.  Need I tell you that Pogo spent most of the day curled up on his new blanket?  I do believe he loves it!

I helped Pogo go up and down his new steps a few times, and he managed to go down them a couple times by himself.  But, it will take some time for him to get used to using them, especially going up them.

Here are a few more photos of Pogo with some of his wonderful presents.  I have more photos, but they are not all cropped yet.

Have you noticed the one constant in all of his photos?  Yup, the new blanket.  He did not go very far from it all day.  Pogo also got a roll of Blue Wilderness doggie food, (thank you Nani) and actually ate a plate of it for breakfast.  I did take a photo, but just as the camera clicked, Pogo turned his head.  Yup, a super photo of a blur.  That's my boy!!

Myself, I got so many wonderful things too, but I'll save that for tomorrow's post.  I just want to say thank you to everyone for all the wonderful gifts.  I am so blessed to have such awesome friends and family.  (Pogo is part of family)

Joe has been away with his family since Saturday, and just got home a little while ago.  After feeding Pogo his turkey treat, he was busy opening his Santa and friends gifts.  Right now, he is munching away on a piece of chocolate, and is enjoying it very much.  Kyra, Joe says thank you so much.  Last year, he shared a bit of his chocolate, but this year he is keeping it all for himself!  haha.

Now I have to go outside and feed my birdies and small critters.  It's cold out and they need the food to keep warm.  Gosh, they are so small, I just don't know how they manage to keep warm through the long cold winter.

I'm off now to make a hot cup of Nescafe Mocca (thank you Kyra).  I'll be back tomorrow with some more photos.  Christmas is still in the air around here.  Till then, Y'all have an awesome day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Merry Christmas Everyone

December 25, 2016

Good afternoon.  It's Christmas Day and Pogo and I are having a fabulous day.  My goodness, Santa and our family and friends were ever so good to Pogo and me.  I know you are all busy with your families but I wanted to wish you a Blessed and very Happy Christmas.  I'll be back tomorrow with lots of photos.

Y'all enjoy your day.

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

December 23, 2016

Good morning.  Oh my gosh, tomorrow night is Christmas Eve.  That means all good children and fur babies need to be in bed and sleeping early because Santa Claus will be coming.  I have to say that this is one of my favorite nights of the year.  Santa always finds a few minutes to linger over a cup of hot chocolate when he gets to my house.

You believe, don't you?  I do.  Santa Claus is a magical being.  He's the love and goodness in all our hearts.  Children the world over try to stay awake and watch the skies all night in hopes of catching a glimpse of Santa and his reindeer flying through the sky.  Of course, the children all eventually fall asleep and miss this wondrous sight.  But in their hearts, they know they'll try again the next year.

Well, yesterday I was going to go out to do a quick errand, but I got involved with a few other things and never made it out.  I'll have to do it this morning though, because I don't really want to go out tomorrow.  First though, I will wait for the mailman to get here.  Hopefully, he'll get here early.

One of the things that side-tracked me was trying to finish decorating my little Christmas tree.  Finally I decided to pack it back in its box, and put up my tiny Christmas tree and my angel instead.  This little tree scene and the snow couple were gifts several years ago from my DIL Janet.  The angel was a gift several years ago from my daughter Deanne, and all the little ornaments in the front were gifts from other folks over the years.  I think it looks quite pretty.

I have our packages all lined up in front of the bookshelf where my Christmas tree is set up.   Pogo is going to have such a grand time on Christmas morning when we open everything.  He just loves going through all the packages.  I'm just as much of a kid as Pogo is.  I love opening everything too.  The child in my heart loves the magic of the season.

Now I need to get dressed and be ready to run out to do my errands.  Pogo and I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, a Happy Kwanzaa and a fantabulously wonderful New Year.  May you be blessed in the new year with happiness, good health and prosperity.

Till Sunday, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Don't Forget To Help Your Animal Shelters

December 22, 2016

Good morning.  It's looking a bit gray outside this morning.  Ah well, even the sun needs a bit of a break once in a while.  Temps will get up to around 41 degrees, and we'll most likely have a bit of rain.

Yesterday, grandson Kevin came by and took me to Walmart.  This young fellow is a wonderful shopper.  He helped me find the last few things that I needed, and then helped me with the groceries.  He also got an empty carriage and we filled it with six large bags of dog food and cat food.  On the way home we stopped by Ace Hardware to drop off all the pet food.

Later today I may have to go out for one more thing.  If I do, I'll pick up some more things for the shelters.  It's a good feeling to make Christmas happy for these wonderful animals.  I think I'm going to talk to the folks at Ace Hardware to see if maybe they can have this food drive more often during the year.  Our animal shelters can use all the help they can get.

Once we got back to my place, Kevin helped me wrap a very large box that is going to his house.  When he left, he took the box and a couple other gifts back home with him.  Today I'll finish up wrapping the rest of the things going to his house (Dee & Eddie's) and take them over there.

Yesterday, Pogo got a Christmas card from his little friend Cisco.  I tried taking photos of him reading his card, but he does not cooperate when he sees the camera.

I've been getting lots of beautiful Christmas cards too.  Gosh, these photo cards are simply beautiful.    Thank you to everyone who sent them to Pogo and me.  Pogo sniffs and looks over each and every card when it comes in.

I have another cute photo to share with you.  Yesterday when we were parking the car in the Walmart parking lot, I saw the most adorable little car.  I had to stop for a moment to take a photo.  Isn't this just the cutest car with her reindeer antlers, red nose and eyelashes?

Ah well, the day is wisking by me and I've things to do.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Scroll To The Bottom, I'm On A Rant

December 21, 2016

Good morning.  Goodness, the month of December is quickly fading, and it won't be long before we're all singing Auld Lang Syne and ringing in a new year.  When we reach an age where we start noticing how quickly time really does pass, we begin to realize how precious time is.  If there are things we have always wanted to do, but never got the chance or had the time, now is the time to do these things.

For me, I've been wanting to take Pogo and spend a few days by the ocean.  Somehow, life always seems to get in the way.  This summer, I'm going to try really hard to arrange this little trip.  I also think I'd like to take a trip by car to somewhere I haven't been before.  Hmmm, this one is a bit trickier but I'm going to give it some thought.

There was an interesting article in yesterday's newspaper titled "Cities, counties plan immigrant legal aid after Trump's win."   It goes on to name some of the different cities that are setting aside taxpayer funds along with private donations to pay for legal aid for  immigrants facing deportation.  In Chicago, half of this money will be used to pay 200 "community navigators" who will search out these illegal immigrants and help them to figure out how they can stay here.

The funds being used to aid the illegals runs into the tens of millions of dollars.  California alone is talking about tens of million dollars for their state alone.  Wow, considering they had no money to build clean water plants when they had no water, I find it super interesting that they now have all this money to promote a project of this size for illegals.

Folks, I realize this country was built by immigrants, but the bulk of them came here through proper channels, worked hard and built a life for themselves and their families.  They were not here to destroy and change our morals and our way of life.  They came here to have a life.

I have nothing against taking in immigrants.  But I do think they should come in legally, and try to assimilate into our country's ways.  Learn our language, uphold our laws and work to make your own way.  I think most of them should have a sponsor here in this country who is willing to help them.

I do not believe that babies born here by illegal immigrants should be automatically given citizenship, nor do I believe that the illegal immigrants should be given our social security benefits, welfare, free food, housing, medical, transportation, college educations, etc.  I do believe in giving a helping hand to folks in need, but there is a difference between a helping hand and total support.

Sad to say, I think that any cities and towns who plan to go against our laws, should be penalized by withholding federal ( and state ) funds.  If you have enough money to go against the law, then you certainly don't need federal and state funding.  Same goes for sanctuary cities.  I think they should all lose their state and federal funding while they are protecting illegal criminals.

'Nuff  said. That's my rant for today!  Sometimes I just have to say what's really on my mind.  By the way, the next column over (in this same newspaper) was titled "Trump cruises to Electoral College victory."  Trump finished with 304 votes and Clinton had 227.  Donald Trump will now officially become our 45th president.  President Trump, I wish you well.

Well, yesterday was a rather quiet day for me and Pogo.  Today though, I have grocery shopping to do, and grandson Kevin will be coming by in a couple hours to take me shopping.  He is taking finals this week at his college.

Now I need to check my shopping list to make sure I haven't forgotten anything.  Before I go, I have another Christmas quick page for you.  I hope you like it.

Here is your download link:

I'm off now.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Are You A Ganderer?

December 20, 2016

Good afternoon.  Yup, I'm way late today.  First, I slept in as late as I could, then after making breakfast for Pogo and me, I caught up on a lot of my emails.  One thing led to another, and I found myself looking through my photo gallery.  What can I say?  I'm a ganderer.

I can hear you now.  "What's a ganderer?"  Well, if you look it up on Google, you'll find that it begins with the history of geese, and basically means to take a long look or to wander aimlessly.  And that's sort of like me.  I go from one thing to another without any particular reason.

However, while I was "gendering" I came across a favorite photo that I'd like to share.  To me, this is the very meaning of family, love, hope and blessings.  My very first grandchild, Bobby, always said "Not me,, I'm never having any kids."  This is my Bobby, napping with his most precious baby daughter Aurora.  My blessings go on and on.

Well, yesterday, Pogo and I made it to the car appointment.  While we were there, another family came in with their little doggie.  Pogo was so excited, and couldn't wait to play with this new doggie.  On the way home, we stopped by the Post Office and met a man who has two rescue kitties.  He was telling us about a cat farm not too far from here where lots of rescue cats live.  Even if you can't take one home, you can visit the farm and play with all the kitties.  This sounds like a fun idea!

I was thinking we might go out today for a bit, but I'm not sure.  For some reason I'm tired today.  Tomorrow and the next day are supposed to be fairly nice, so maybe we'll go out those days.  I do have a lot of bundles to drop off at Deanne and Eddie's house, so that will be one of our errands.  I also have to go shopping for a new bird feeder.  Our's broke when the wind knocked it to the ground a few days ago.

This afternoon I'll make my grocery shopping list.  I'd like to do that shopping in the next couple of days.  This weekend is going to be so wicked busy for shoppers, and I don't want to be out in the crowds.

Dwarf Helen took a photo of Luna, one of our house cats, enjoying the Christmas tree that is set up in the den.  She loves to lie under it next to the Mr. and Mrs. Claus dolls.  Even our fur babies love Christmas.

Well that's my news for today.  I'm waiting for the Mailman to deliver a couple parcels that I'm waiting for.  I'm sure I'll find some fun mischief to get into the rest of the day.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Got Errands To Do Today

December 19, 2016

Good morning.  Well, yesterday was in the fifties, and today is only in the twenties.  Ah well.  It's only ninety more days till Spring!!!  I shouldn't really complain though.  Almost all the snow we just got is gone.  We only have a couple small patches of it left.

This morning, Pogo and I have to take the car in for a check up.  On the way home we'll stop at the Post Office and then it's back home.  If I didn't have to, I wouldn't go out at all, but I don't dare try to reschedule this appointment again.

I think I should enlighten everyone what HEPC was all about.  The letters stand for Hepatitis C.  Google lists several sites that explain the disease and the different signs to watch for.  The best way to find out is to ask your doctor, and get tested yourself.

Here's a wonderful image that I found on the web and thought I would share here.

There's not a lot of news this morning, so I guess this will be a short post.  I need to get dressed, and that takes me a bit of extra time.  The elbow and wrist are healing, but they still have a ways to go.  Before I go, I have another Christmas quick page for you.  I hope you like it.

Here's your download link:

Now I think I'll go have my coffee and get ready to leave for my appointment.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Has Your Doctor Had A Checkup Lately?

December 18, 2016

Good morning.  My goodness, yesterday we woke up to lots of snow falling (a minimum of six inches)  and today we'll be enjoying temps in the mid fifties with lots of melting.  And most likely rain too!  Tomorrow the temps will be back down in the mid twenties.  I guess Mother Nature isn't feeling so good.

Remember how I said that when the temps go way down that my floors get rather cold?  Well, the other night I went to the pantry to change Pogo's pee pads and the pee was frozen.  Hmmm, I guess there's a first for everything.

Joe was busy yesterday with his sister's funeral service and his family, so a couple of the dwarfs went outside to shovel snow.  They shoveled around my steps and my car, the front door steps and the driveway.  Today the warm temps and rain are helping to get rid of the rest of the snow.

Have any of you been watching the ads on TV about our baby boomers and HEPC?  It seems that a large portion of this group has this disease.  The ad finishes by saying "Be sure to ask your doctor to get tested."

Now I ask you, will it really help you if your doctor is tested for HEPC?  If he has the disease, does this mean that you need to find a new doctor?  At least until he or she gets treatment for the disease?  I don't mean to make lightly of a serious situation, but there is a problem here.  Have our schools stopped teaching proper English along with a lot of other important things?

My friend Andrea made this adorable card for Pogo.  This is Pogo's friend, Izzi.  She's inviting Pogo to enjoy a romp and play in the snow.  Andrea, this is wonderful.  Pogo and I love it.  Thank you so much.

I'm always looking around for new and easy crochet patterns.  Here's a pair of mittens that are super easy to make.  At least that's what the pattern says.  I may try to make a pair.

I was supposed to take my car in for its check up yesterday, but with all that snow I wasn't going to be traveling anywhere.  I called and had the appointment changed to late tomorrow morning.  It will be cold but at least the snow should all be gone.

On the way home from the appointment, I'll stop by the Post Office to mail a couple of small packages that got overlooked during the last two trips to the Post Office.  They may arrive a bit late, but at least they'll get to their destinations.

Today I'd like to finish wrapping the last of the gifts.  These are for family and friends who are local.  I'm thinking that maybe Tuesday I'd like to do a bit of grocery shopping, and then I'm done till after Christmas.

Before I take my leave today, I have a wonderful picture to share with you.  I borrowed this from the web.  The message is:  Don't buy!  Please Adopt!!!!  All our animals deserve to have a happy home.

I also have a new Christmas quick page for you.  This one is whimsical.  I hope you like it.

Here is your download link:

Now I'm off to enjoy my coffee and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

I Think My Toes Are Frozen

December 16, 2016

Good morning.  Brrrr!  It's only 5F degrees this morning.  However, I just looked up the weather for La Crosse, Wisconsin and it's much colder there.  Well not at the moment, but tomorrow night it will be -15 degrees, and Sunday will range from a high of -5 to a low of -17.  Now that's downright cold!!

I guess I don't have to tell you that I won't be moving to La Crosse anytime soon.  It's really beautiful there, but I'm not so crazy about the cold temps.  Of course, I'm not so crazy about our cold temps either.  I'm definitely a warm weather bunny!

Well, I don't think I really accomplished very much yesterday, but I was busy most of the day.  A couple items that I had ordered from the shopping channel arrived.  One goes under my little tree.  It's a present from Pogo.  I wasn't really going to buy it, but he kept saying "Go ahead, Mom.  You deserve it."  So I ordered it!!  The other box is a Christmas present for someone else.

Last evening, I was watching the shopping channel and they were showing a brand new induction burner.  I've been shopping around for a new one.  My burner doesn't let me choose the cooking temperature that I want.  It goes up or down in increments of 25 or 50 degrees.

This new burner changes temperature in increments of 5 degrees.  Much better!!  So of course I ordered it.  It also comes with a really nice cooking pan.  Sad to say, it did not come in apple green, yellow or orange.  So, I will be getting a graphite colored burner and a jet black pan.

Daughter Deanne sent me two new photos of Jasmine.  These were taken at her high school where she has been busy in a new drama production.   Pat, pat, pat.  (that's me giving myself a pat on the shoulder!  I'm a very proud old lady!)

I have another photo to share.  This is the first wooly caterpillar that I've seen this Winter.  (I know, Winter doesn't start for a few more days, but we're definitely having Winter weather.)  It's not the fuzziest one I've ever seen, so I'm not sure what it has to say about the weather we're in for.

Tonight I'm going to try working on some new quick pagers.  Hopefully, I'll have a couple new ones for you on Sunday.  Tomorrow morning, I have a new appointment to take my car in for a check up.  I had an appointment for the other day, but I got my dates wrong.  Hopefully, the temperatures will be warmer tomorrow.  I can't breathe very good in this wicked cold.

Well, that's my news for this morning.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Time To Finish Your Shopping!!

December 15, 2016

Good morning.  My goodness, look at the date!  In ten days, it will be Christmas Day!!  Just ten more sleeps, and we can look to see what Santa Claus brought.  I always remember the meaning behind this special day, but I love Santa too.

Well, all my packages have been mailed, (except for one)  and the last batch of cards is ready for the mailman.  That last package is for friends who are away on vacation, so I'll mail it later to arrive after they get home.

I had an appointment this morning to take my car in for a check up, but oops!!  I just checked my calendar book to see what time I have to leave, and --- oh no!!  My appointment was for yesterday!!  I'll have to call and apologize and see if they can re-schedule.

It seems that lately I have become so scatterbrained.  I spent about twenty minutes a couple days ago looking for my glasses.  I found them on my face!  DUH!!  Maybe after Christmas is over, my brains will unscramble themselves.

Is all your Holiday shopping done?  I only have a couple small things to pick up and mine is done.  Here's a great idea for you if you still need a special gift.  At Easy Canvas Prints, they've been running some great specials on canvas prints.  I've had a few prints done by this company, and I've been very happy with all of them.  Get creative, and try it.

My daughter loved this photo (of her granddaughter) that she took with her cell phone.  I removed the background, made a new one, enlarged the photo and had it printed on canvas.  My daughter loves it!  Here's the original photo and the one on canvas.

I think it's time for me to either get dressed or put on my fuzzy bathrobe.  It's beginning to feel a bit cool in here.  Outside, the temperature is in the upper 20's.  It will be getting steadily colder all through the day and night.  When we get up tomorrow morning, the temperature will be around 3 or 4 degrees F.  Brrrrr!  Not my cup of tea!!

On that note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

History From "The Good Old Days"

December 14, 2016

Good morning.  The sun is shining and the temperature is 39F degrees.  By supper time, the temps will have dropped down into the 20's.  I guess the next couple of days will be rather chilly.

Last evening, I finished getting the rest of my mailer boxes ready to go.  Today one of the dwarfs will go to the Post Office with me to help carry the boxes.  Goodness, I made it with not a minute to spare.  I have a few last cards to finish addressing and put in the mail tomorrow morning.  After that, I can sit back and relax.

I had wanted to work on my laptop for a while last evening, but things have been too busy.  Now I'll have more time to play.  I promise there will be some quick pages coming soon.

A friend of mine sent me a really interesting story about one of our Presidents, Harry Truman.  There's also a photo of him and his wife Bess relaxing at home during his retirement.  I hope you enjoy this.

" "Harry Truman was a different kind of President. He probably made as many, or more important decisions regarding our nation's history as any of the other 32 Presidents preceding him.  However, a measure of his greatness may rest on what he did after he left the White House.
The only asset he had when he died was the house he lived in, which was in Independence Missouri.  His wife had inherited the house from her mother and father and other than their years in the White House, they lived their entire lives there.
When he retired from office in 1953, his income was a U.S. Army pension reported to have been $13,507.72 a year.  Congress, noting that he was paying for his stamps and personally licking them, granted him an allowance and  later a retroactive pension of $25,000 per year.
After President Eisenhower was inaugurated, Harry and Bess drove home to Missouri by themselves.  There was no Secret Service following them.
When offered corporate positions at large salaries, he declined, stating "You don't want me.  You want the office of the President, and that doesn't belong to me.  It belongs to the American people and it's not for sale."
Even later, on May 6, 1971, when Congress was preparing to award him the Medal of Honor on his 87th birthday, he refused to accept it, writing "I don't consider that I have done anything which should be the reason for any award, Congressional or otherwise."
As President, he paid for all of his own travel expenses and food.
Modern politicians have found a new level of success in cashing in on the Presidency, resulting in untold wealth.  Today many in Congress also have found a way to become quite wealthy while enjoying the fruits of their offices.  Political offices are now for sale.
Good old Harry Truman was correct when he observed "My choices in life were either to be a piano player in a whore house or a politician.  And to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference!" "
Please keep in mind that I do not know who originally wrote this article.  I merely copied it here for your enjoyment.  I only fact checked the date of his inauguration, length of time in office, and which number President he was.
I hope you enjoyed the article.  I certainly did.  Actually, I remember President Truman from when I was just a little girl.  He was inaugurated on April 12, 1945 when President Roosevelt died of a massive stroke, and served in office until January 20,1953.
Now I'm off to get dressed so that I'll be ready to take all my boxes to the Post Office.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Oh Dear, My TV Is Sick!!

December 13, 2016

Good morning.  Gosh, I fell asleep super early last evening, and of course I was awake super early this morning!  It seems like I've been up for hours.  (Well, I have!!!  Duh!!)   Unfortunately, I've had to spend quite a bit of my time this morning shopping on-line for a new TV.  Sometime after midnight, the screen on my TV went black.  It has sound but no picture.

I do have a TV in my bedroom that maybe I could move out to the living room for now.  I'll have to see if Eddie or Cliff can move it and hook it up for me.  Gosh, it's always something!!

Yesterday, Kevin came by and took me and a load of packages to the Post Office.  I just have a few more packages to get ready for mailing, but I have a day or so to get them done and in the mail.  Wow, talk about cutting it close!!

Cliff just called me and said that he will be here in about a half hour or so to bring my other TV out to the living room and hook it up.  Yeaaaaahhhh!!!   Gosh, I feel so much better now.

I did have a follow up appointment today with my orthopedic doctor, but I cancelled it and rescheduled it for two weeks from now.  I only needed to go today if my wrist wasn't healing, but I do think it is trying to heal.  It's not painful all the time now.

Here's a photo of what my amaryllis plant should be looking like right about now.  However, because it seems to want to grow all year long, there is no bloom for this winter.  This blossom is from another year.

I also want to share a really adorable Christmas card that I came across.  If this doesn't warm your heart, then I don't know what would.  This is just so precious.

I'm listening to the shopping channel (on my dead TV) and they are selling GoVision sun glasses that take HD videos and still photos, and hook up to your cell phone via blue tooth.  Now this sounds like a fun toy.

Well, that's my news for this morning.  It's time for me to get dressed before Cliff gets here.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Christmas Is Less Than Two Weeks Away!!

December 12, 2016

Good morning.  It's a winter wonderland outside this morning.  It snowed through the night and kept the street plows busy.  We got maybe an inch and a half to two inches of light snow, and the forecast calls for it to be all gone by this afternoon.

My grandson Kevin might be coming by after class today to take me to the Post Office.  I have a stack of parcels ready to be mailed out.  Gosh, I can't believe how close I cut things this year.  I'll really have to do better next year.  I know, I know.  Every year I say I'll do better next year, and then next year comes along and sneaks right up on me.  What can I say?

I think I only have three more "mail away" boxes to finish and get out, so this will be my project for today.  I can take them to the Post Office tomorrow.  We got our tree up out in the main house, so maybe later today I can get my little tree up.  I meant to do it a couple days ago, but I've been busy.

The fuel oil delivery is scheduled for sometime today.  Someone has to be here when they get here, so one of the dwarfs will watch for the truck if I am away at the Post Office.  Oh gosh, I'm watching a commercial on TV for the movie "Sing".  I think I'd like to see this one.  It looks wicked fun.

Over the weekend, one of Joe's sisters passed away.  Needless to say, Joe has been rather melancholy these past couple of days.  The funeral service will be held toward the end of the week.

I found a cute image on the web that I thought I would share here. Have you written your note to Santa yet?  If not, better get to it.  Time is drawing very close!  Christmas is less than two weeks away!

Now I think I'll get dressed so that I'm ready to leave whenever Kevin gets here.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Busy, Busy Weekend

December 11, 2016

Good morning.  The sun is shining, but ooooowee it is too cold for me!  We are barely into the low 20's this morning.  I do love the Christmas season, but I can't wait for Spring to get here!

Well, it's been busy around here.  Yesterday, Cliff came by to do a few things for me.  There are lots of little things that need doing before being clobbered by Winter.  Putting hoses away, turning off outside water, covering the faucets, covering and putting away lawn furniture, weather stripping door frames that have settled, etc, etc.  He also covered the front of my porch with heavy duty plastic.

The list of chores is never ending when you have a house.  This morning I thought of a couple more things to put on the house "to do" list.  While Cliff was busy outside, I was busy wrapping and boxing gifts.  I was doing pretty good until I discovered that I had wrapped one gift and put the wrong tag on it.  Oops!!  That could have been disastrous!

I also did a bit of on-line shopping yesterday.  Basically, I'm pretty much done with the shopping part.  There are only a couple more things that I need to get (as soon as I figure out what they are!).  Most all my cards have been addressed and put in the mail, so I'm in pretty good shape.

Today, I'm hoping to get a lot more of the wrapping finished.  I'd like to get all my "mail away" boxes to the post office by the middle of the week.  That's my goal right now.

My next big project will be to shop for airline tickets for my trip to Florida, and maybe a new suitcase.  The suitcase is a "maybe" item.  I am going to try to learn how to pack for two weeks in just a carry on bag.  Now that would be a big help for me.

Every year, I try to downsize what I have to carry when I travel.  I may be travelling alone this year, so this is very important.  One suitcase, one tote bag and one doggie travel case. That's about all I can handle.

Now on to some fun stuff.  I dug out one of the Christmas scrap kits from a few years ago when I was designing collab kits with my friend Su.  This kit is my part of the collab.  I hope you can use it for some of your holiday scrap pages.

Here are your download links:

Now I'm off to the kitchen to make a fresh cup of coffee, and then it's back to the "wrapping" table.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Getting Back On Track

December 9, 2016

Good morning.  Goodness, I slept late and never even heard my phone ring.  I was supposed to be up early because Cliff was coming by to do some work for me.  Shame on me!  Thankfully, I have since heard from him and he is willing to come by in a little while.

Yesterday, my doctor called to say that another new med was called in to the pharmacy for me.  So, later today I'll have to go pick it up.  First I'll call the pharmacy to make sure the insurance covered it.

I spent some time on my laptop yesterday working on some new quick pages, and I addressed another batch of envelopes.  Got to keep the mailman busy!  On my way to the pharmacy later today, I'll stop by the Post Office to mail off my first few packages.  Woo Hoo!  I just might get everything done on time!

I also called the shooting instructor to re-schedule our appointment (mine and Dee's) at the range.  Hopefully, in a few weeks my wrist will be much better and I'll be able to hold and shoot a gun again.  So I guess all in all, yesterday was a rather productive day for me.

Today I have two Christmas quick pages for you.  Have fun with them.

Here are your download links:

I'll be keeping this post short so that I can get dressed before Cliff gets here.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Yesterday Was A Lost Day

December 8, 2016

Good morning.  Wowsie!  I just read over my post from yesterday.  Goodness, what a terrible post!  The problem is my new meds, which of course, I won't be taking any more of.  A couple years ago, the insurance company decided to stop covering my medicine for neck spasms.  So, my doctor had to prescribe a new med.  I took this for a while, but I ran out of it quite some time ago.

My doctor called in a new refill for me a few days ago.  Unfortunately, the insurance company has decided not to cover this med any longer either.  So, someone at the doctor's office called in another new med for me.

Yesterday morning I took one of the new pills right about the time I sat down to post on my blog.  I guess from reading the post, you can see how quickly I had a bad reaction to this new med.  Let me tell you it was really scary.  I was in and out of reality, mostly out of, and I had no control over my body.  Everything was fuzzy and drifting somewhere, and I could not stop it.

This lasted for hours.  It was after 1:30 p.m. before I started to come out of this, and could actually walk again. It was evening before I actually started to feel like myself again.  The sad part is that when you live alone and everyone you know is away at work, there is no one to help you when something like this happens.

I think the insurance companies should be ashamed of themselves for playing around and meddling with people's medications like this.  The sad part is that had I not come out of this nasty bad medicine "trip," the insurance company would not even be held responsible.  The government and big business has absolutely too much control over our lives with no consequences for their bad decisions.

Sad to say, I do not have a new quick page for you .  I will work on them later today, and I promise to make extras to make up for it.  I just haven't been up to spending much time on the computer lately.  When I hold my head and neck in the same position (like sitting at the computer), I start having the spasms so I just lay low.

Poor little Pogo has been so busy staying at my side lately, that he hasn't been eating all his meals.  Last evening, DIL Janet stopped at McDonalds and picked up supper, (at my request) along with a double hamburger for Pogo.  He did eat some of it, but not much.  Later, after midnight, he got the hungries and ate the rest of his hamburger, along with anything else I had in the fridge that looked good to him.  Eventually his tummy got full up and he was able to fall asleep.

A couple days ago, I was able to get a few gifts wrapped and ready for mailing.  Hopefully, today I can get some more of this done.  I am so far behind it is not funny.  Santa Claus is doing pretty good though.  A long box was delivered here with a note from Santa attached asking me to put it under our tree for Pogo.  Woo Hoo!  I wonder what it is???

I dug a couple photos out of my archives to share today.  These are things that I miss from my working days. The first photo is a mama cardinal looking for food on a early winter morning.
The second photo shows the mist rising over a cemetery as the sun is rising on my way home for work one morning.

Well, now it's time for me to get busy and try to accomplish a few things around here today.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Tis A Fuzzy Fuzzy Morning

December 7, 2016

Good morning.  So far this morning it's quite gray outside.  Today and tomorrow the temperature might get up into the low 40's, but then we'll stay in the low to mid 30's (daytime) for a while.  I'm not a great fan of the cold, but waking up in the morning with my little guy snuggled against me really makes me thankful for being here.

I found this Aunty Acid image on the web an borrowed it to share here with you.  I try to think this way because between deteriorating health, and so many of those around me passing on, I find there aren't too many folks left in my age group  (near dinosaur)

Folks, I think this is for today/  I took one of my meds a little while, and now all my typing is coming up.  Nuerons or whatever those things are called are spinning whirl things and making me dizzy.  Plus the keys on the laptop have been dancing up and down all aver mu without my permission.  I will see you tomorrow when I am not so blurry.

It's Drippy Nose Time Again!!

December 6, 2016

Good morning.  Well, it's still cold outside, but the sun is shining.  Technically, Winter starts in a couple of weeks.  So I guess this is as good as it will get for a few months.  Ah, but the bright side is that I'm still here to complain about it!!

Today's post will be a bit short because I slept in late this morning, and I have to go out to pick up my meds and another supply of tissues.  My system seems to be trying to fight off a cold or a bug, and my nose has started this "drippy" thing.  So before my nose turns completely red, I need to replenish my supply of Puffs.

Yesterday, I got busy with some wrapping and boxing.  Unfortunately, right off the bat, I did not have the boxes that I need.  During the summer, I went on a cleaning spree, and well, I knew I'd regret throwing out all my boxes.  Now I have to buy more.  I did, however, manage to get three packages ready for mailing.

Pogo's letter to Santa goes out in this morning's mail.  Here's what he is asking Santa for this year.

With folding steps like this, maybe Pogo will be able to climb up on to the big sofa all by himself, and he won't have to wake me up in the middle of the night.  Hmmm, it might work!

I have a new photo of great granddaughter Alena to share.  Here she is in her new pink cowgirl outfit.  She's four now and she goes to preschool.  Goodness, methinks she'll break a few hearts one day.

Now I really must get busy and get ready to leave for the store.  I don't want to be out very long.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Our First Winter Snow

December 5, 2016

Good morning.  Goodness, I don't seem to able to get up early too often any more.  By the time I get up and make breakfast and coffee, it's after ten a.m.  Then I check my emails before posting here.  I think it's the weather.  Once the cold and winter sets in, I get in a sort of blue funk.  This morning everything outside is covered with a light layer of snow.  Oh yuckie, yuckie, yuckie!

Yesterday was a quiet day.  SIL Eddie came by for a visit.  After that, I put one of my plants in a new pot.  Last evening, I put a few rows on the Delft Blue afghan.  Here's a photo of the yarns I'm using on this afghan.

There's no hurry about finishing this afghan.  It's going to be one of next year's Christmas gifts.  I have a couple more colors that I want to make afghans with next year.  One color is called "Chili."
I think I'd also like to make another one with orange as the main color.  We'll see.  I have plenty of time to work on these new afghans.
Today I'm going to attempt to get a few boxes ready for mailing.  I really need to get past this "procrastinating" thing.  I don't like being behind with everything.  Sad to say, my next big project, once Christmas is over, will be to get my taxes ready for my accountant.  Gosh, in my younger days, I was so organized.  How does a personality get so disheveled as it ages?
My sister in law, Edie, called me last night.  She had such good news!  After battling cancer for oh so many years, her latest tests are so promising.  The cancer is shrinking.  Yeaaaaah!!!!!  Edie sent me a new photo of her fur baby, Laylee.  In this photo, Laylee is asking her mom, who is trying to nap, to play ball with her.  Guess who cut her nap short???
It's very gloomy and gray outside, and it's raining now.  I think maybe I'll make a new cup of coffee and get started on my wrapping project.  This should be fun for Pogo.  He likes to check everything out before it gets wrapped and put in a box.

On that note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.
