Bits Of This And That

 July 28, 2022

Good morning.  My goodness, how quickly this month is going by!  In just a few days it will be August already.

I finally started crocheting on the afghans again.  Just a couple of rows, but at least it's a start.  For some reason I just haven't been in the mood for crocheting lately.  I must get back to it though because I need to have both of these afghans finished before December.

Well, I've been approved to receive a meal every Monday through Friday. (from Elder services)  It starts  today.  This is actually quite a nice deal.

Here's a cute image that I found on the web.  It seems to suit me every day.

Has anyone started their Christmas shopping yet?  I already have a couple things set aside to be wrapped.  I'd like to be finished by the beginning of November.  That's just three months away.  Time to get busy!

My tomato plant wasn't doing so good so I had Deanne take it home with her.  I'll have to ask her to take a photo of it so I can see how it's doing now.  I don't know why I grow a tomato plant every year.  It just seems like the thing to do.

The meals were supposed to start today, but it's almost noon and none has come yet.  I guess there won't be a meal today. Hmmm.

It's time to see what looks tasty in the refrigerator.  Ham and cheese maybe?  Mmmm, sounds good to me.  So, you stay safe and have a fantabulous weekkend.

Happy Birthday Bug Bunny

July 25, 2022

Good morning.  In two days it will be Bugs Buny's 82nd birthday.  He was born on July 27, 1940.  Happy Birthday Bugs Bunny!

All this week, the cartoons each morning (on TV) will feature Bugs Bunny.  In my area, the cartoons are on weekday mornings from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and Saturday mornings for two hours.

Another program that I enjoy is Inspiration Campmeeting with Dr. Mike Murdock. (televangelist)  I looked him up on Google and learned that he is extremely rich.  I guess all that money that folks send to him isn't just for doing good deeds.  Some of it must pay for his super rich lifestyle.

I have a new book to read.  This one is about the Black Dahlia murder case.  Here are the front and back covers to the book.

So far, I've read 55 pages (out of 357) and I've learned nothing about the murder.  Seems a lot of gangsters and LA Police are involved in the story.  So far.  Elizabeth Short is the Black Dahlia.  Guess what I'll be doing this afternoon.  Yup!  Reading!

It's getting close to noon so I think I'll check to see what looks tasty in the refrigerator.  You stay safe and have a fantabulous week.

Delicious!

July 21, 2022

Good morning.  Today will be sunny and hot with temps in the low nineties.  It will be a good day for a nap.  I did not sleep very well during the night so a nap is in order for today.  First, I will watch the rest of my morning TV programs.

Yesterday I had a tomato (from my plant)  sliced and in my sandwich.  Yum! Yum!  I plant tomatoes every year.  It's good to finally be able to eat them.

We're having a lot of hot temperatures now, so please, please, don't leave your pets in your vehicles.

The town has brought a meal to me on several different days over the last couple of weeks.  Deanne is checking to see what's involved in me getting these meals every day.  It's a big help, and the meals are tasty.

Sometimes I find some of the cutest things on the web.  I found this image and just had to have it.

Now I'm going to have a look in the fridge to see what looks tasty enough for lunch.  So till Monday, stay safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Brooms And Roses

July 18, 2022

Good morning.  Gosh, today would have been my Michael's and my Brother's birthdays.  Happy Birthday Guys, in Heaven.

It's gray outside, and I have to keep checking to see if it is raining, or is it just raining on the TV program that I'm watching.  (They are having rain and thunder)  It must be the TV program because there are no puddles forming in my yard.

Are any of you ladies looking for a new broom?  The broom manufacturers have come up with some really pretty new colors for this year's new brooms.  They are pretty, aren't they?  I may get the orange one or the pink one.  Or maybe both!

I've been in a reading mood lately, so I think I'll look up some library books.  Online, of course.  Maybe if I call and give the librarian a list of the books that I want, she'll have them at the desk so that I can just pick them up.  It's worth a try.

The TV on my porch works fine.  Now I just have to figure out what all the channels are and which ones my programs are on.  I suppose by the time I get all this done, it will be winter.  Aye yi yi!

Today I want to share a photo of one of Deanne's roses.  She has the prettiest roses!  Just look at this!

Now it's time to see what's for lunch.  So, stay safe and have a fantabulous week.  I'll be back on Thursday.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Mac and Cheese Day

 July 14, 2022

Good morning.  It's quiet here. (What else is new?)  Today will be cloudy with 80 degree temps.  Actually a good day for sitting out.

Mac and Cheese is a common staple in most people's lives, often reminding us of our childhoods.  In the United States, it's actually celebrated every July 14th for National Mac and Cheese Day.  (info from Google) Have a big bowl of mac and cheese and enjoy it!

I looked online to see if we could have chickens in Randolph.  It said:  "Any Randolph resident wishing to keep livestock must complete an application, have the property inspected by the Town, notify neighbors and receive approval from the Town Manager.  Permits are valid for one year and must be renewed annually before 12/31."

Keep these figures in mind when you go out, and don't take your pets with you.  Leaving them in the car can be a death sentence.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE leave them at home.

I think I'll sit out on the porch for a while this afternoon.  After my nap, of course.  It seems like the older I get, the more important my nap becomes.  You too?

Now I'm going to see what's for lunch.  Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Do You Have Chickens?

July 7, 2022

Good morning.  This is just a short post to make up for forgetting to post yesterday.  It's been really quiet around here so there's not a lot to talk about.

I did sit out on the porch for a few hours yesterday, and I'll sit out there for a while this afternoon.  I have a box out there that I throw all the junk mail into.  Sitting there gives me a chance to go through this junk mail.

Here's a cute image that I found on the web.  Hmmm, I think I need to get me a few chickens.

Now I think I'm going to the kitchen and check out what's in the fridge for lunch.  So, till Thursday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Tis Another Super Day

July 7, 2022

Good morning.  Today will be sunny with temps at 80F degrees.  It's been really quiet here all week.

I'm watching TV and there was just an ad for an actor, Don Knotts.  Sad to say, this is one actor that I just never could learn to like.   I don't know why, I just have never liked this person.  Here he is portraying Barney Fife.

I wonder what it is that makes us like or not like certain people.  Mr. Knotts never did anything to make me not like him.  I just never could like him.  He is probably a very nice man.

I'm going to get back to my crocheting today.  I haven't been doing it at all lately.  This is not like me.  It seems like I've had a crochet hook in my hands for several years.

Today is "Law & Order, Criminal Intent" day on TV.  You know what I'll be watching.  I really enjoy the crime shows.  It's not the crime that interests me, but how each problem gets solved.  Puzzles are great for keeping the mind active.

It's time for lunch now so I'm going to the kitchen to see what looks good for my lunch.  So, you stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy July Fourth

July 4, 2022

Good morning.  It's been a really nice weekend.  Quiet, but nice.  It seems the older I get, the quieter it gets around here.  Hmmm.  Does that mean that I'm a noisy person?

This whole week will be sunny with temps in the eighties.  Great "sitting out" weather!  I may even eat my lunch out on the porch today.  Sounds like a great plan to me!

Today I'm going to share two more of my lilies.  The red ones and the light pink ones.

I think it's amazing that these beautiful flowers come in so many awesome colors.  Many years ago, I thought they only came in purple or yellow.  How great to be so wrong!

I've decided to blog twice a week now.  On Monday and Thursday.  There's just not enough happening in my life to chat about more than twice a week.  Hopefully that will change.  It's nice to have it a little bit busy now and then.

It's time to start thinking about next Christmas, and what to get or make for gifts.  I have no ideas at the moment, but I'll think about it for a while.  Usually, I'm half done putting things aside to be wrapped by now.  Not so this year.  I'm a bit behind myself.

Ah well.  It's lunch time now so I'm off to see what's in the refrigerator.  You have a safe and fantabulous week.

Hugs, Edna B..

Happy Birthday Deanne

July 1, 2022

Good morning.  Tomorrow is Deanne's birthday.  And her friend Caroline's too.  Yesterday, they took the whole day off work and had a fun day for themselves.  Part of the day was spent having fun in a pool.

It was so good to see you both having so much fun.  I hope tomorrow is another super day for both of you.  Happy Birthday Deanne and Caroline.

The weather has been awesome lately, and my flowers are loving it.  Here's a photo of some of my lilies.  Aren't they just beautiful?

Here's some more of my lilies.  My favorite color, orange.

I say you can't have too many flowers in your yard.  I love to look around and see blossoms everywhere.  I feel the same way about all the birds in my yard.  I love watching and listening to all the beautiful bird calls.  So now you know why my porch is so important to me.

Today, I'm going to try to prune my tomato plant.  I do think that removing a few of the extra leaves and branches will be helpful to the tomatoes.  There are ten or twelve tomatoes already showing.  Awesome!

I have a lot of blog reading to catch up with too.  Hopefully I can do that this afternoon too.  Now I'm going to have a look in the fridge to see what looks good for lunch.  So, till Monday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.
