Happy Kitty Cats

July 31, 2020

Good morning.  It's cloudy outside right now.  Temps are supposed to climb into the mid eighties later today.  And I imagine the sun will be shining soon.  I keep hoping for a bit of rain, but it's no cigar.  (now there's a phrase you don't hear very often anymore)

I've been up for hours, but I've been busy.  I crocheted for a while, then made breakfast.  There were some interesting things in my email so I spent some time reading.  My friend Kyra sent me a link with information on screenshots, so I'll be giving that a try after I'm done with blogging.  Thanks, Kyra.

Deanne sent me a photo that Eddie took on his way home from work the other day.  He knows that I love to stop along the way when I'm out and take photos of birds and other animals.  So now when he sees something that he thinks I'd like, he stops and takes a photo.  Thanks, Eddie.

I need to make a correction to my post this past Wednesday, when I said that Kevin was in Boston when the photo was taken.  He was actually at the brand new Encore Casino in Everett, MA.

Earlier this summer, Eddie made a kitty screen room on the outside of one of their windows so that the kitties could get fresh air whenever they wanted to.  Let me tell you, those kitty cats just love it!  Here are Nutmeg and Pickles enjoying their screen room.

Doesn't it just make your heart happy to see our fur babies living the good life?  Nutmeg looks a little bit annoyed at being disturbed while she was sun bathing.  Oh well, she'll get over it.

Yesterday I did not get very much accomplished.  It was just one of those days where I was tired all day.  Today seems to be a much better day.  It's a bit cooler today so I just might sit out on the porch for a while.  Maybe I'll take my rocks out there and try to draw outlines on them.  I'd really like to have at least some of them done before Christmas gets here.

Dwarf Mikey has just completely retired and will be getting social security shortly.  He's also giving up his car.  We are right on the bus line, so a car isn't really a necessity.  It will be nice having someone around the house a lot.  Although if it were me, I'd have kept my car.  My car is my freedom.  Even if I don't drive it often, I can if I want to.  So, as long as I can still drive, my car will sit right outside my door.  It's a personal decision though, so to each his own.

Now I'm going to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

P.S.  For those of you who don't know about the dwarfs, it goes way back to when I first started blogging.  I run a rooming house, and all the tenants were men.  Someone made a reference to Snow White and the seven dwarfs.  So I decided to refer to the tenants as dwarfs rather than post their names.  (for privacy reasons)  Now I sometimes give their first name or nick name.

Lots Of Info For You Today

July 30, 2020

Good morning.  Tis rather gray and cloudy outside just now, but my phone weather app says it's sunny with temps climbing up into the nineties.  I suppose I could change my phone app, but then it wouldn't be fun anymore trying to figure out what sort of day it will be.

I spent quite a bit of time on my laptop yesterday.  I had to figure out how to post on my other pages with this new system.  I managed to post the new pattern to the pattern page (see upper right corner for page links), but I still have a lot to learn on this subject.

I need to figure out how to screen shot on my laptop too.  I'm sure it's in the Windows 10 book, but I guess I'm just not using the right words to find the information in the index.  Practice makes perfect (so they say).  I'll get there.

One of my favorite commercials is on the TV.  A young man is coming home from a trip somewhere, the background music is playing and singing " I Want To Go Home."  The look on his mother's face when he arrives home is priceless.  This is me when I get to see my son.  (I don't get to see him very often)  Do you have a wandering child?  Yes?  Then you know the warm feeling I'm talking about.

Today let me share what I found on Amazon when I was looking for nests for hummingbirds.  The second picture is a holder for bits and scraps that birds might want to use to make their nests.

Kyra sent me some very useful links about hummingbirds and their nests.  To be honest, they probably won't use the ready made nest.  They prefer to make their own nest.  The articles are really interesting and worth reading.  Thanks, Kyra.

My friend MaryAnn sent me an interesting link yesterday for a video with facts about the Covid-19 virus.  It was extremely interesting.  If interested, here's the link.

Now I'm going to do a bit of blog reading and a few more things on my laptop.  Busy, busy, busy.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Granny Gets A New Bike Too

July 29, 2020

Good morning.  Tis another steamy day here in my little part of New England.  I did get up early but I've been busy.  It seems there are always tons of little things to do that don't seem very important but they take a long time to do.

I did some research on how to save favorites, and how to add things to the other pages on my blog.  I will be adding another crochet pattern to the pattern page.  LV, I'll get in touch with you to help you with posting links.  Robyn, I'll be posting that pattern on my pattern page sometime today.

I also need to do a bit of updating on my blog.  It's been such a really long time since I've taken the time to keep it up to date.  So it looks like I'll be busy most of the day on this laptop.  But that's a good sign.  These past few months I haven't had much of an interest in working on my laptop.

Today I have some fun photos to share.  Alena wasn't the only one to get a new bike.  Grandma and Grandpa (Audrey and Mac) got new bikes too.  Here's a photo from 1966 of Audrey on her bike.

And here she is today with her new bike.  We never outgrow our enjoyment of bike riding.  And it's good for us too!

While I'm typing, I'm watching a tiny hummingbird enjoying his feeder on my porch.  They really are awesome little birds.  I have some new bird nests that need to be hung in the trees, but I want to look for some hummingbird nests.  If there is such a thing on the market, I'd like to get a couple for my yard.

My grandson Kevin and a friend of his went to Boston and the friend took these photos of Kevin and his car.  This one had such a beautiful background that I just had to share it here.  Kevin bought the blue lights for his car and his Dad helped him install them.  It's been a long time since I've been to Boston.  I didn't realize that it could be so pretty.

The white charcoal pencils that I had ordered came in the mail a few days ago.  These are used to draw on my rocks before I paint them.  I guess I'll have to give that a  try pretty soon too.  I haven't painted in such a long time.  I'm hoping I haven't forgotten how to do it.  Ah well, we'll soon see.

Now I'm off to do some blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Still Learning New Blogger Changes

July 28, 2020

Good afternoon.  Tis another steamer today.  Even the nights are steamy.  BUT, at least I'm still here to grump about it!   I did start this post this morning, but I'm a tad bit slow today so I've changed my greeting to good afternoon.

I just found out that one of my blog friends is turning ninety one pretty soon.  And she posts a couple times a week.  Now that's awesome!  Way to go, LV!  I hope I'm still finding things to write about ten years from now.  (I'm only eighty one this year)

You know, it just took me almost half an hour to figure out how to make a link to another blog.  I'm not feeling particularly smart today.  I love my Special K with strawberries cereal, but it's not exactly brain food.  If it is, it's not working on me!

We must have a substitute mail carrier this week because he doesn't bring my mail to my porch like the regular carrier does.  So now I'm going to have to keep my door open to watch for the mail so that I know when it arrives.  Pogo will be happy because he loves to sit and look out the door.  On the other hand, keeping the door open lets in a lot of heat.

I found another cute crochet pattern on the web and downloaded it.  I'm not sure if I'll try making it, but at least I'll have the pattern.  It's really cute, and would be nice for spring and summer if it were made with cotton yarn.  It's called Blossom Stitch.

I'll have to take a walk around the yard again pretty soon to see what might still be blooming.  The Rose of Sharon are beginning to bloom now so I'll have to get a photo to share.  Also blooming are the Knock Out roses.  Mine are red and pink.  Here's one of the red bushes.

Now I think I'll do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Anyone Want Fish For Supper?

July 27, 2020

Good morning.  Wow, I had such a good nap yesterday that I didn't need a lot of sleep during the night.  I did , however, get enough to keep me from feeling groggy this morning.  Pogo woke up around seven this morning so I got up and made us breakfast.

Today is another hot hot muggy day.  Temps in the nineties are forecast for the next several days.  We may get a little rain somewhere in there though.  That should help a bit.

Audrey and Mac have been enjoying their granddaughter, Alena, these past couple weeks.  Early this morning, Alena and Grandpa headed out to do some fishing.  Alena no sooner dropped her line in the water and she caught a fish.  Grandpa (Mac) took a photo and sent it to Audrey, who in turn sent it to me.   Alena is hoping to catch a really big fish so that she can take it home and cook it for supper.

Alena loves doing things with her Grandpa.  This past week, he taught her how to ride a bike.  When she goes home next weekend, she has a brand new bike to take with her.

I was going to do a bit of crocheting yesterday, but it never happened.  I even read over the pattern for the baby cowboy boots and picked out some yarn.  However, my nap won out.  I didn't get to make the stuffed peppers either because the meat hadn't thawed.  (I thaw the meat in the refrigerator)  Maybe I can make it later today.

Do you realize that after today there are only four more days left in this month?  Yup, it's all downhill from here.  Soon it will be August, then December.  That's how fast it goes when you're my age.  The only time that goes a bit slower is the winter time.  The cold weather tends to come in a bit early and it leaves way into what should be spring time.  Well, at least that's the way it seems to me.

Today I have some patterns to print out after I do some blog reading.  After that, well, we'll see.  Before I get started, let me share something that I borrowed from the web.

So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Cool Cameras

July 26, 2020

Good morning.  The sun is shining and today the temps will rise up into the nineties again.  I'm thinking that this is the hottest summer we've had in a while.  Of course, It could just be me.  I'm wondering if I should have just had windows and walls put all around on my little porch.  Maybe then I could get more use out of it.  Hmmm,

I'm not getting much sleep at night now.  It's just too darn hot for sleeping.  Thank goodness for TV.  Which reminds me, this morning I'm watching Create channel and have just learned a new way to start the chain and first row on a crochet project.  I can't wait to try it out.

Deanne and Eddie had their grandchildren over yesterday afternoon for an over-nighter.  After spending time in the pool, the little ones went out on the porch to play with their bubble cameras.  These cameras were a big hit!  Gosh, my camera doesn't blow bubbles when I press the shutter button.  Here are photos of Aurora and Xander showing off their photographic skills.

Oh the joys of childhood.  Sometimes they don't even feel how hot it is outside.  As long as this machine keeps making bubbles, it's happy time.

I don't really have any special plans for today.  I think I'll print out some patterns, and if my hamburg thaws out in time, I'm going to make stuffed peppers.  Well, at least that's the plan.  If the meat isn't thawed in time, I'll probably just have cereal for supper.  It's Special K with Strawberries and it's delicious.

Gosh, I'm getting wicked sleepy.  Gee, I wonder why.  I think I'll try to catch a few winks.  But first I'm going to shut off my phone.  Last evening, I had just nodded off when the phone rang.  Of course I answered it.  Big mistake!  Much as I tried, I could not get back to sleep.

On that "yawning" note, I'm off to see the sandman.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

My Car Is All Set Now

July 24, 2020

Good afternoon.  I've been home a while now, but first I had to hug my doggie, then it was time to make us some lunch.

Well, I took my car to the dealership this morning.  They checked it over and found that I needed an oil change, an alignment and a new filter.  After that, they put my new sticker on the windshield.  Now my car is good to go.

The dealership will be starting a new service sometime soon.  There will be several different packages of cleaning, waxing, etc with varying prices offered to their customers.  It hasn't started yet, but when it does, I just may be interested.  I like it when my car is shiny and clean.

I got very little sleep last night, maybe an hour for the whole night.  I guess I was afraid I might oversleep this morning.  Sad to say, that means I'm exhausted now.  I really really need a nap!

First let me show you the new patterns that I bought.  One is a whole magazine "Crochet - Autumn 2020."  The other is several different types of baby shoes, boots and booties.  I just couldn't resist it.

Have you ever seen such adorable baby shoes?  I am going to have to make a pair of these.  When I do, I'll take a photo to share.  Now I really need to have me a nap.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

I Passed My Driving Test, Woo Hoo!

July 23, 2020

Good morning.  How about that!  Deanne, Pogo and I went out riding yesterday.  I drove and they rode.  The weather was perfect for a car ride.  And I passed the test.  So I guess it's okay for me to drive my car every now and then.  I must say, it felt good.

To be honest, I'm okay as long as I'm sitting.  It's when I get up and try to do something that I run into a problem.  Lucky for me, I drive sitting down.  Deanne also told me that I won't be going to Florida next winter.  To be honest, I wasn't planning on going anyway.  I don't think it's safe for me to go there.  So now I guess I'll have to decide what to do with my timeshare.  I've really enjoyed my time there every year.

I've been asked if Create channel is a local TV station or if it is a cable station.  I looked it up on Google.  It says:  "Create is a service of your local public television station.  The channel is digitally broadcast and available via over-the-air, cable and some IPTV providers."  I hope this helps.

To Susie, good luck with your cataract surgery.  I hope you don't have to wait very long to have it.  I had both of mine removed years ago when they started to interfere with my sight.  My eyes have been great ever since.

Also, Blogger is allowing folks to revert back to the Legacy interface if they want to.  It will be available until August 24.  I'm thinking it's just as easy to stay with the "new" blogger.  They keep making adjustments to it, making it easier to use.

I was watching a spider on the hedge near my porch yesterday.  It was spinning a web and an ant had got caught in the web.  For a while, the spider kept going round and round the ant.  Then it would stop and watch the ant for a bit.  I kind of felt a little bad for the ant.  I tried to get a photo of the spider and its new snack.

I've been slacking off on my crochet projects lately.  It looks like I may not finish the purple poncho before the end of this month unless I get cracking.  So maybe I'll put a couple more rows on it this afternoon.  I've already found another new little project that I'd like to try, but I'll save that for tomorrow.

Now I need to wash some dishes before getting started on this new day.  Before I go, let me share a really cute image that I borrowed from the web.

Tomorrow I'll probably be posting in the afternoon (unless I get up at 5 a.m.)  I have a morning appointment with my car at the dealership.  So, till then Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

It's A Great Day For Creating

July 22, 2020

Good morning.  It's early so it's still gray outside.  I've been waiting for the rain that was forecast for overnight or early morning, but I guess it passed right by us.  I just looked outside and everything is dry.  Lots of ants though.  I rubbed some Peppermint oil on one of the railings and the ants skedaddled.  I guess they don't like Peppermint oil.

Today I think I'll take a ride to the bank.  It's not very far, just far enough to get my driving wings back.  Maybe I'll even get me an iced coffee from McDonald's on the way home.  They have the best iced coffee.

I'm watching the Create channel on TV, and they've making a crochet bead necklace.  To be honest, to me it looks really messy and not very attractive.  I would not make this for myself.  However, I would imagine that there are lots of folks who would love this type of necklace.

Their first project was a crochet tote bag, and now they are making a knit tote bag.  Both of these tote bags look nice and not to difficult to make.  Next will be a show about painting.  I really enjoy that one.  They have different artists at different times so you get to learn a lot of different techniques. If you're crafty, this is a great channel for you.

Today I'm going to post a couple coloring pages from Dover.  Coloring is a great pastime when you have to stay indoors, so enjoy.

Now I'm off to see if Pogo is ready for breakfast.  I got it out for him earlier but he wasn't ready to get up yet.  Yup, he's a lot like me.  He'll get up when he's ready.  My poor little guy, he needs a haircut really bad.  He's looking like a tiny lion lately.  I try, but he doesn't want to let me trim his hair.

Leave It To Beaver is on now so till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Ring, Ring, Ring

July 21, 2020

Good morning.  It was a toss and turn night, so I slept way late this morning.  I was really tired last night, so I'm not sure why sleep didn't come easy.  Do you suppose it was that phone call from my daughter Audrey?

Ya, that's probably what did it.  She was so cheerful on the phone when she told me "Mom, another month or so and  I can sign up for social security.  I can hardly wait!"  Excuse me, but when did all this happen?  I know I'm old, but not that old!  Really?

One day she was in the yard on her swing, and the next.........?????  How is it that so many of our years fly by so fast that we don't see old age catching up to us?  The body saw it coming, but the brain didn't.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about being old.  It's just that the really old part got here so quickly and I still have so much to do.  And that brings me to my laundry.  It's piling up again.  Funny, laundry was always my favorite part of housework.  Aye yi yi!  I guess we know what I'll be doing this afternoon.

Yesterday, I was watching a program on TV and during one of the commercials they had a ten day weather forecast.  I saw all the days in the low to middle eighties and thought how wonderful, we're going to have a break in this heat wave.  Then the forecaster said" It's going to be really nice for this Independence Day."  What?  I always thought that the commercials that were aired during these re-run programs were current.  Hmmm, I guess I was wrong!

We are supposed to get a break from these wicked high temps though.  A whole string of days in the eighties.  Yea!!!!!  Well, now I need to get started on that laundry.  First let me share an image that I borrowed from the web a while ago.  Remember, your animals are your best friends.

So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Happy Moon Day

July 20, 2020

Good morning.  It's looking really gray outside this morning.  Of course, it's really early too.  In a while, the sun will most likely be shining with temps in the low nineties.

There's really not a lot happening here.  Seeing the mailman show up with a handful of junk mail and bills  is the highlight of a lot of my days.  But then it's that way for lots of folks now.  Who would have thought that junk mail could make us so happy?

Or is it just seeing the mail man come around that makes us happy?  I say it's the mail man.  We know that he'll be stopping by almost every day, and he'll have paper gifts for us.  So what if it's mostly junk mail.  It's the thought that counts.

Did you know that today is Moon Day?  It celebrates the first day that we had a man land on the moon. On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the moon.  Is our flag still standing on the moon?  According to a NASA spacecraft almost all our flags that were planted on the moon are still standing.

Today I'd like to share a new word with you.  I first heard this word while reading a blog.  It was such a fun and interesting sounding word that I had to look it up.  The word is "Soodle."  It's a verb, and it means to walk slowly.  Example: The man was obviously in no hurry as he soodled along.  (per Google)  Don't you love learning new words?  I do.

Leave It To Beaver will be coming on soon (on TV), so I'll be finishing this post.  Before I go, let me share an interesting image that I borrowed from the web.  This is very important information for all animal lovers.  It can save a life.

Now I'm off to make a cup of coffee and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Very Lazy Day

July 19, 2020

Good morning.  Gosh, I do believe I slept a speck late.  I'm not apologizing.  It felt good.  Some days I just can't get up with the rest of the world.  So I stay snoozing until Pogo wakes up, then I get up and make breakfast.

How is everyone handling the heat?  I'm staying indoors.  Today I only have to go outside long enough to change the food bottle on the hummingbird feeder.  No cooking.  I'll make a sandwich and fruit for lunch and supper will be a bowl of cereal.  And ice cream, of course.

Yesterday, I was browsing the web and I came across an image that brought back so many memories from my younger days.  Best friends are really smart people.  My best friend back then was Ginny May.  She pointed out to me the fact that the more upset I was, the quieter I got.  I hadn't realized it, but she was right.  It was best to leave me alone when I was quiet.  This image is so me.  (It's good to know that other folks are this way too.)

I've actually been watching a few movies lately.  Normally I don't watch very many movies.  (except at Christmas time)  Lifetime channel has some good family movies though, and the other night I watched "Stolen By My Mother."  What a good movie!  Very moving.

I did some research on Google to find a shop that will install a new battery in my cell phone.  However, instead I found a lot of reasons why my phone should be replaced with a newer version.  My phone is three years old, which seems to be the end of its quality life.  That's really kind of sad.  Our cell phones are very expensive, so I think they should have a longer quality life.

I know there are cheaper phones out there, but I want my phone to take quality photos.  Therefore I have to stay within the more expensive phones.  I guess it's time for me to start checking around for the best prices on the newer phones.

Recently I found a new baby blanket pattern online.  It's close to the pattern I use for my afghans, but the stitch is smaller and done in the back loops of the stitches.  I used to make my afghans using this type of stitching.  I'm thinking I'd like to make one of these baby blankets.  Hmmm, another new project to sneak in between my bigger projects?

Now I think I'd best get started on this new day.  It's already lunch time.  No, I'm not going to eat lunch just yet.  But I do want to get to my blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Hot Weather Rules For Keeping Your Pets Safe

July 17, 2020

Good morning.  Today is our last "comfy" day.  The hot sticky stuff is supposed to be back here starting tomorrow.  It's going to be TOO HOT for outdoor stuff.  That means it's going to be TOO HOT for our PETS TOO!   You might even want to be concerned through Tuesday.  Watch the weather reports and check the temperatures.  Be kind to your animals.  (Don't mind the misspelling in the article.  The author may have been in a rush to get it typed.) Image borrowed from the web.

And remember, they don't have shoes on their feet to protect them from the hot ground and sidewalks.  Walk in early morning or later when there is lots of shade.  Pretend you are walking barefoot and think how the ground is burning your pet's paw pads.

I borrowed another image from the web to share with you.  With these wicked hot temperatures, we all need to know how to recognize heat stroke in our pets.  This chart is for dogs and for cats. (I checked on Google.)   Also add drooling, salivating, agitation, restlessness (pacing), increased heart rate and breathing distress.  Make sure your pets have plenty of clean fresh drinking water.

Well, yesterday I made a few phone calls.  I originally bought my cell phone at Best Buy.  They still sell Samsung phones, but they don't sell replacement batteries or put them in for you.  So now I have to find a place that does this for the Samsung phones.

Next, I called the auto dealer where I bought my car to see how they are operating now with the new Covid rules.  You have to make an appointment.  Then you can either wait indoors, or they'll set up a chair outside for you to sit while you wait.  I got the first open appointment to take my car in.  It's next Friday at 9:30 a.m.

I found another really adorable baby crochet pattern on the web.  No, I'm not going to buy it, but it really is cute.  These are called Rock-a-Billy Baby Boots.  Aren't they just the cutest things?

Joe picked up my grocery order after work yesterday.  Fortunately, there were only three items out of stock by the time they picked my order.  I should be okay though till next weekend on those items.

Last evening I took down the hummingbird feeder and put in a new bottle of food.  I really like this new feeder.  It's so much easier to change and clean.  My hummingbirds like it too.  I made up another package of their food because it has to be changed more often when the temperature gets really hot.

Today Pogo and I are going to spend some time on the porch.  I may even drive my car around in the driveway for a bit.  Just practicing.  Now it's time to wash some dishes and get started on this new day.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Getting Used To This New Way Of Shopping

July 16, 2020

Good morning.  Today should be another gorgeous day with sunshine and temps in the low to mid seventies.  Super comfortable!  Today and tomorrow are to be enjoyed because after that the hot sticky stuff comes back.

Yesterday I tried to place a grocery order on-line from WalMart to be delivered this afternoon, but every time I tried to click on "place my order" it would tell me that one of my items could not be delivered and to delete it.  I would, then it would say "having problems at the moment,  try again soon."

After re-trying this several times and deleting several items, I finally changed the order to be picked up instead.  I was able to put back most of the deleted items.  Joe said he would pick it up for me this afternoon.  I'll have to wait till then to see if they had everything I ordered or if several items were already out of stock.

Today I need to call Best Buy to find out how they are handling customer requests at the store.  I need to take my phone there and have a new battery put in it.  However, I'm not happy about staying outside while an employee takes my phone indoors without me, if this is the new way of shopping there.  Then I need to call the auto dealer where I bought my car to see about taking it in for a check up and a new sticker.  They may be doing things differently now too.  On the other hand, maybe the only change these places have made is the number of customers in the store at one time.  That would be nice.

Deanne sent me some photos yesterday of her veggie plants and one of her lilies.  Her veggies look great and the lily is gorgeous.

I found this adorable image on the web and downloaded it to share with you.  It's just a reminder that any thing at all that you can do for these wonderful animals is so so appreciated.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Rock Is A Rock Is A Possum

July 15, 2020

Good morning.  It's not quite six thirty, and it's gray and wet outside.  The rain has already stopped and I'm sure the sun will be shining later this morning.  It was just a light rain.  Temps today and the next couple days will be in the seventies.  After that, temps will shoot up into the nineties.

Yesterday my package of rocks came in the mail.  I know it sounds funny to buy rocks, but I don't get around good enough to go out and pick my own rocks.

I picked out a few and put them into a plastic baggie.  These will be the first ones I'll try to paint.

And these are some of the figures I'm going to try to paint on these rocks.  I think I'm going to need a lot of luck.  I haven't painted in more than twenty years.

Here's a picture of rocks that someone else painted.  I found it on the web, and I think it is just adorable.  I have plenty of rocks so I might try something like this too.

I got to watch a couple episodes of Dragnet this morning.  Then I Love Lucy came on.  I tried to watch that too, but I couldn't handle it this early in the morning.  I enjoy her show, but there's too much loud  yelling for the early morning hours.  Instead, I'm watching City Confidential.  This is definitely more my speed.

I've been looking around on the web for car insurance quotes to find something that's not as expensive as what I've been paying.  Have you noticed that not one company will show you any of their rates until after they have your name, address, date of birth, and a lot of other information?  I wonder why that is.  Your name and date of birth should not have any effect on the prices quoted.  Your driving record should speak for you.  Ah well, what do I know.  Obviously, I don't have any quotes yet.

I need to make my way to the kitchen now and make some breakfast for Pogo and me.  And a cup of coffee for me.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Lost Time

July 14, 2020

Good morning.  Tis another cloudy day, so maybe we'll get some rain today.  Yesterday's rain only lasted minutes, if that.  It started with some drops on my car while nothing was falling from the sky.  ??  Then the sky opened and the rain came down heavy.  Then it was sunny and dry.  It must be that Fay.  She's playing with us.

I seem to be busy these days, but for the life of me I cannot figure out what's been keeping me busy.  I crochet a little here and there, and do the dishes every now and then.  I bring in the mail and pay a couple bills.  All this used to take me less than an hour.  Now it takes twenty four?  Hmmm.

Aha! I think I have yesterday figured out.  I went looking for my rock painting book and then sat for a while reading it and looking at the illustrations.  I'm really hoping I can do this.  The Baby Jesus doesn't look too difficult to paint, but then it's always the easiest things that are the hardest.

Oh ya, I read a couple articles in "Writer's Digest."  I've always wanted to write a book, but I just never could.  I was this way all through college too.  Whenever I had an essay to write, I usually ended up writing it the night before it was due.  I'm not sure what the problem was, my marks were always good.

A while ago, Deanne gave me a package of a new kind of hummingbird food which I put into my new feeder that uses plastic water bottles.  The birds seem to like this food so I ordered more of it from Amazon.

Normally, you can just make your own by mixing sugar with water.  However, I usually buy my sugar in little packets so these packages are easier for me.

Yesterday, a squirrel came up on my porch railing to check out my new pink geranium plant.  I think I'd best get it into a hanger pot and hung up soon.  I have some new hanger hooks, so I'll have to see if Joe or Eddie can put up a few of them on the porch for me.  I need new places to hang my wind chimes.

I'm tired today so I think a nap is in order.  Before I do that, let me share a really cute image that I've borrowed from the web.  Trust me, this is great advice!

Now I'm off to start my new day.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Pink Is Pretty

July 13, 2020

Good morning.  I guess today's the day that storm Fay will catch up to us here in New England.  It's gray outside with comfortable temps at the moment, but the temps will rise as the morning goes on.   We may be getting some thunderstorms later today.

As promised, I took photos of some of yesterday's purchases.  First is my new plant, a pretty pink geranium.  As soon as I can, I'll be putting it into a hanging pot.

And here's my new set of acrylic paints, along with a palette.

After I took these photos, I ordered a couple bags of rocks from Amazon.  They should be here tomorrow.  Now I just have to go look for my rock painting book.  It's around here someplace.

Last evening I made another pair of the fingerless gloves, then worked on the purple poncho for a while.  I have a good feeling about getting my holiday projects finished in plenty of time.  As soon as I'm feeling more comfortable on this laptop, I'll get started on my new calendar and my Christmas card.  I know, it's still early, but pretty soon it will be December and I'll feel good about having these things already done.

Well, Perry Mason is coming on now, then I switch over to Law & Order - Criminal Intent.  That's my favorite version of Law & Order.  I'm really enjoying all these old re-runs.  First I have to go out on the porch and empty the water bucket that's beneath the air conditioner.  I don't want to let it get too heavy for me to lift.  I don't mind this chore because it helps to keep the muggies out of here.

So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

A Shopping Spree! Woo Hoo!

July 12, 2020

Good afternoon.  I'm late posting today because my SIL Eddie took me shopping this morning.  This is my first time out since March.  We went to Ocean State Job Lot.  Needless to say, I enjoyed my outing very much.

I bought me a new hanging plant.  In a little while, I'll go out and take a photo to share.  I also bought an inexpensive set of acrylic paints.  In all the excitement of being out, I forgot to look for a bag of rocks.  Ah well, I can order them on Amazon.

This last hour, I've been trying to get my email working on this laptop.  I got my big laptop back from the shop yesterday but a lot of things are taking forever to begin to work now.  Maybe because I haven't been using it?  It's going to take a while before I know if everything is working.

I do have some photos to share today.  A couple nights ago, some of my grandchildren had a "cousins night" at Deanne's house.  So here's Jazzy, Kevin and Mia.  Mia is my daughter Kerri's youngest daughter.

Yesterday, a new book (The Second Amendment) that I had ordered from Amazon arrived with my mail.  I've seen a lot about this book on Facebook so I decided maybe I needed to get my own copy.  It's a small book chock full of information that we all need to know.  Especially us gun owners.  I read the whole book, then went online and ordered a copy to be sent to Deanne and to Audrey.  We all have guns and concealed carry permits.

After supper, I decided to try one of my new crochet patterns.  I got out my Fuchsia yarn and made a pair of fingerless gloves.  They were real easy and didn't take long to make.

Now I'm going out to the porch and bring in my groceries.  Then I'll see about lunch for Pogo and me.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Is Fay Going To Bring Us Some Rain?

July 10, 2020

Good morning.  It's cloudy outside at the moment, but I'm sure the hot, muggy sunshine will be here shortly.  My phone app and the weatherman on TV are calling for some rain again.  It seems that storm Fay is on her way here, but she's turning inward and upward.  So, most of the rain should be in the middle and western part of the state.  Well, maybe.  We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm watching "Leave It To Beaver" this morning.  I really do enjoy this program.  Young Beaver is getting very close to that "dating girls" age.  Some days I wonder how the different characters turned out once they became adults.  Especially that Eddie Haskell.

Well, I found me a new little crochet project to try, but I'll hold off showing a photo of it until after I try it out.  Just in case I decide not to like it.  I was going to start the purple poncho last night, but the air is so muggy that I decided to wait a bit.  Hopefully, if and when the rain gets here, things will cool down a bit.

Today I have some photos of some of my lilies.  It seems they get prettier every year.

Has anyone noticed that there have been some changes to the new Blogger?  And the changes are good too!  Today the change was how we upload photos to our blog.  It's now the same as it used to be.  Woo Hoo!

Recently I purchased some brushes, sandpaper and polyurethane. I'm going to try washing some of the wooden posts on my porch with bleach (to get rid of the black stains).  If that doesn't work, I'll sand them and then coat them with the polyurethane.  That should keep me busy for the next couple of years.  I figure I can just sit out there and work on this for a while every now and then.

Now it's time to watch Perry Mason.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

The Muggies Are Here

July 9, 2020

Good morning.  It's sunny this morning and the hot, sticky muggies will be here shortly.  Temps should hit ninety degrees today and I guess the warm stuff will be here a while.  Along with a new storm named Fay.  Fay is supposed to be bringing us tons of rain.

Yesterday I promised to take a photo of the neck warmer/hat sets.  This photo shows six of them.  Two different shades of blue, light grey, camouflage, orange and green.  There were two green sets, but I've already given one of them away.

Now I'll have to concentrate on the navy afghan and a purple poncho.  Hopefully, in between these two projects, I'll be able to try some rock painting.  I need to do this out on the porch though, so I'm hoping for a lot of nice days with comfortable weather.  I also found a fingerless glove pattern that I might like to try.  sigh,  So many fun things to do, so little time.

I found a couple more adorable crochet tee shirts.  One says:  "Soft yarn Warm yarn, Little ball of fluff.  Happy yarn, Pretty yarn, I can never get enough."  The other one says "I crochet so I don't choke people.  Save a life.  Send yarn."  These are awesome sauce!

Something around here is eating the flowers right off their stems.  One day I have lots of gorgeous orange and yellow blossoms on tall stems, and the next day I have tall stems.  Just what critter is tall enough to eat the blooms without bending the stems?  All my beautiful Asian Lilies and one of my yellow lilies - all gone!  Here's the photo of the yellow one that I took before it got eaten.

It's clouding up outside, so maybe my phone app is right and we'll get some rain.  Then again, we may not.  My phone app is not very reliable as far as the weather goes.

Well, that's enough of my babble for today.  I want to do a bit of blog reading before I get started looking for some fun mischief to get into.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Let's All Help The Animals

July 8, 2020

Good morning.  Well, I'm not quite sure about the weather today.  Outside, it's cloudy and really comfy.  However, my phone app says the sun is shining and soon the temps will be in the upper eighties.  It says we should have pouring rain later this afternoon and evening.  So we shall see what we shall see.

Today, let's talk about what we can do to help the animals.  One of my favorite charities is the Best Friends Animal Society.  Their motto is  SAVE THEM ALL.  They put out a list of things they could use for the animals.

As you can see, I've enlarged the image to make it easier to read.  Best Friends is located at 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, UT 847 41.  They also have a wish list on Amazon, or you can call them at 435-644-2001 ext, 4634.  I'm thanking you in advance for anything you can share with the animals.

Now, how about something pretty to look at?  This blossom is from one of the new little rose bushes that Bobby planted for me last year.  This one is the light pink and oh so pretty.

I finally finished the last neck warmer/hat set.  Later, I'll take photos to share.  Today I'll get back to my Christmas crocheting.  First, I need to call and order a couple new patterns.  If, and when I get them, I'll share photos of them.

One of the dwarfs, Mike, picked some milk for me and I just went out to the porch to get it.  Wow!  Is it ever humid!  It definitely looks like rain is on the way.  Hopefully, it will help to lower the humidity.  Oh dear, I just looked out and the sun is shining.   That was quick.  So much for hoping for rain!

Well, I think I'll go wash some dishes and get started on this new day.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.
