Happy Memorial Day

May 30, 2022

Good morning.  I can't believe it's already the end of May.  The year is almost half over.  How can this be?

I came across an interesting ad for people beds.  Like dog beds.  This is a large dog bed for humans, and it looks wicked comfortable.  I could fall asleep really quick in this bed.

Today I need to work on the afghans.  At the rate I'm going, it's going to take me all year to finish them.  Meanwhile, I am watching television.  I enjoy crime stories.  My favorite TV days are when Blue Bloods or Law & Order are on all day.

Deanne will be stopping by after work this afternoon.  She has decided that we need to clean my refrigerator so that's what we'll do.

A person on the TV just used the word "jovial."  I know what it means even though I don't hear it often, so I looked it up.  Jovial is an adjective, meaning cheerful and friendly.  Example:  She was in a jovial mood.

Looking up words can be very interesting.  Try looking up a new word every day.  You'd be surprised at how much your spoken language can change.

Now I need to get a few things around here done before Deanne shows up.  So, till Wednesday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Beautiful Flowers

May 27, 2022

Good morning.  Today will be cloudy with temps in the high seventies to eighty degrees.  A great day to be outdoors.

Today I have some beautiful Iris photos to share with you.  These are two colors that I've never seen before.  This first one is a white Iris.  From my garden.  I had blue, purple and yellow Iris in my garden, and I guess they eventually made a white one.  It's beautiful.

The second Iris is a pink one.  From Deanne's garden.  I've never seen a pink Iris before, and this one is beautiful.

Have any of you ever noticed new flowers in your gardens?  If you have, would you share photos of them?  Finding them is such a wonderful surprise.

My purply pink Rhododendron bush is covered with buds and blossoms.  This looks like its best year.  Here's a photo of one of the blossoms.

Can you tell I love flowers?  I get so much enjoyment from seeing the blossoms.  I think every yard should have a colorful garden.  Flowers bring so much happiness.

This afternoon I plan to sit out on the porch and go through (and get rid of) a big bag of junk mail, and listen to the birds.  The trees in my yard are full of birds.  I love listening to their chirping.

Now I'm off to the kitchen to make a sandwich for my lunch.  So, till Monday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Family

May 25, 2022

Good morning.  Today is going to be another super day.  Sunny and warm.  Warm enough to sit out for a while.  I really must get that TV out there.  I enjoy being out there but I also enjoy watching my TV shows.

Today I thought I'd show updates of two of my newest great granddaughters.  Cerys and Ariyah.

This is Cerys Amberlee.  She is seven months old.

And this is Ariyah Monet.  She's three months old.

Aren't they just  beautiful?  I am sooooo lucky!  Now we need some new baby boys.  I have thirteen great grandchildren, eight girls and five boys.  (And fourteen grandchildren, 7 boys, 7 girls.)

There's not a lot happening around here.  It seems that life gets quieter when we get older.  My car is definitely feeling lonely.  Almost nine years old and only 12,000 miles on it.  It smiles every time I have a doctor appointment.

I didn't start a sweater (like I mentioned before) but I think I will do it today.  Actually, when I go out to the porch I'll only take yarn and the sweater pattern with me.  Once I see how it is looking, I'll decide who to give it to.  I rarely ever keep anything that I make for myself.   I don't know why that is, it just is.

Today is Blue Bloods rerun day on TV.  Now I can catch up on all the episodes that I missed.  'Twill be a good TV day.  Now it's time for me to enjoy a bit of blog reading.  So, till Friday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Yellow Lilacs

May 23, 2022

Good morning.  Most of this week will be a mix of clouds and sun, and temps near seventy degrees.  Super!  Great sitting out weather!

Today I have a photo of a really beautiful flower.  The yellow lilac.  I've never seen one in person, but I'm hoping to.  I'll be doing a bit of research to find one.

I checked on Google and found an Amazon ad for the yellow lilac.  For a small bush plant, it will cost $23.99.  This is not bad considering it is a plant, not seeds.  I definitely think I'll get one.

I must remember to be outside tomorrow before the mailman gets here.  I want to thank him.  He doesn't have to, but he brings my mail all the way up to my porch and puts it in the blue box I leave on a table near my gate.  I do appreciate this so very much.

Yesterday, Deanne sent me a photo of Nutmeg sleeping peacefully on one of the beds.  Doesn't this look like a really happy cat?

Today I think I'll start a sweater, then I'll put a few rows on one of the afghans.  If I do, I'll post a photo of the sweater Wednesday.  It's time for my hands to get busy again.

Today is Law & Order day on TV so I'm off to enjoy watching it.  So, till Wednesday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Blossoming Plants

May 20, 2022

Good afternoon.  The morning got away from me.  I didn't even realize it till daughter Audrey called me to ask why I hadn't posted today.  I wish I could say that I was so busy doing all sorts of things but that isn't so.  I was just resting and watching TV.

I thought I would post after my program was over, but then I fell asleep instead and had a super nap.  I awoke to the sound of al little bird chirping right outside my door.  And so, here I am.

Tomorrow and Sunday I will have my breakfast out on the porch.  Those days are going to be wicked hot so I'll probably only be able to stay out there a few hours each morning.  (A good few hours)

Things are beginning to blossom around here, and yesterday I noticed that my lilacs are in bloom.  Mine are lavender.  One of these days, I'd like to plant a yellow lilac bush.  (First I have to find one.)

I need to go to the garden center again and get a plant to put in my tall flamingo planter.  I like to keep this planter on my steps.  Maybe I could get a plant to hang inside my porch too.  I love having flowers around me.

Now it's time to decide what's for supper.  Mac n Cheese sounds like a good idea.  So, till Monday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

A Good Day To Be Outside

May 18, 2022

Good morning.  Tis another really nice day.  Sunny and warm.  After I finish this post, I'll be taking my crocheting out to the porch.  It is so relaxing to watch and listen to all the birds.

Yesterday I sat out for a few hours, and it felt really good.  SIL Eddie stopped by on his way home from work and fixed my outdoor camera.  Now I can see when someone is coming in my driveway. (when I'm indoors)

Eddie mentioned something about my lawns being mowed, but I think it's a bit too early.  I imagine there are homes with baby rabbits and other small creatures hidden in the grass.  Maybe we should wait till sometime in June.   Also, I think there are still some dandelions that are not ready yet to disappear,

Does anyone ever wonder what the plants think when we cut them down or remove all their blossoms?  Or maybe how a mother rabbit feels when she has to move her babies to another home?  There is so much that we never give thought to.

I have a bag full of junk mail that I think I'll take out to the porch with me.  This should keep me busy for a few hours.  Maybe even two afternoons.  Tomorrow temps should reach sixty degrees.  The weekend temps should be in the nineties.  Next week's temps should be back to springtime normal.

The morning is almost gone and I have things to do.  So, till Friday, stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Summer Is Coming

May 16, 2022

Good morning.  Today is sunny and the temperature will be 80F degrees.  Summer will be here before we know it.

I have a camera on the porch that lets me see what/who is coming in the driveway.  The lens, however, has slipped and needs to be put in place again.  I didn't realize how much I count on this lens before it slipped.  I'll have to see if Joe will fix it when he comes home from work.

Now that the temps are warming up, it's time to remind everyone about not leaving your dog in a hot car.  Temps inside the car can be fifty degrees hotter than outside.

I spent a little time working on the afghans this weekend, and now one of them is past the half mark.  At this rate I should have them both finished before the end of summer.  I also picked out a green color yarn in case I still want to make a sweater.  I have plenty to keep me busy.

Here's an image I found on the web.  It is so true!  It's always a great feeling to realize that your adult children are rather nice folks.

Now I'm going to enjoy a cold bottle of water and some blog reading before it's time to go outside.  So, till Wednesday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

"New" Old Programs

May 13, 2022

Good morning.  The sun is shining, and today through Monday will have temps in the low eighties.  "Sitting out" time has arrived.

Do any of you watch Ed Sullivan on TV?  The program is on ME TV on Sunday night at 10 p.m.  I remember watching this program every week to see what musical groups would be featured.  Every new singer and music group made it on to this TV show.

I rather enjoy that so many of the old TV programs are being re-played now.  TV way back then was really enjoyable.  There weren't many programs but they were all interesting.  So much has changed over the years.

Here's two more of my new plants.  The Butterfly Bush is just a twig, but I'm hoping it grows into a plant soon.

A few days ago I ordered, and received, a couple cases of spring water.  I left the cases out on the porch but today I think I should bring them indoors.  I guess I'm just getting lazy in my old age.

I've decided to start a sweater pattern to work on while I'm doing the afghans.  Now I just have to decide on a color for the sweater.  I'm thinking maybe I'll use purple.  Not definitely, but close.

Now it's time for a fresh cup of coffee and some blog reading.  So, till Monday,  Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

New Patterns

May 11, 2022

Good morning.  Temps will be in the fifties today.  No sunshine (yet).  It's actually a good day to work in the garden.  And for me, a good day to get rid of a bag of junk mail.

Do many of you get excited about getting rid of junk mail?  Some days I wonder why we get so much junk mail so often.  I suppose it keeps the Post Office in business.  And, I guess it keeps a few folks employed.

I did not do any crocheting these past couple days.  I'm not sure why.  I think being indoors for so long has had an impact on what I do.  Sometimes it's just easier to do a puzzle while I watch TV.

I found a new afghan pattern that I might try.  I'll know better after I have a chance to look over the pattern.  (Annie's Craft Store)

Last night I spent a few hours looking over everything on "Annie's" web site.  I finally ordered a few new sweater patterns.  I'll post photos when I get the patterns.

The sun is shining now so I guess it will be a sunny day after all.  I'm sure my plants are happy about this.  Now I'm going to fill my cup with coffee and enjoy some blog reading.  So, till Friday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Mothers' Day (a day late)

May 9, 2022

Good morning.  Today is sunny with temps in the fifties.  Thursday, temps will be warming up more.  Soon it will be "sitting out" time.

Yesterday was Mothers' Day.  Deanne came by and brought Chinese food for our lunch.  Awesome!  Did most of you spend the day with family?  Thanks to technology (messages and phone) I enjoyed time with my other children too.

They are advertising a new game on TV.  "Bingo Blitz."  I'll have to look it up because I enjoy bingo.  I used to go play Bingo every week.  I miss that now.  And it wasn't just the game.  It was all the people and the atmosphere.  It was a fun place to be.

"Twiggy" hasn't grown much since it was planted in a pot outside.  I thought for sure it would be twice as big by now, but it's not so.

The mail has come, and with it two new catalogues.  I get a catalogue of sorts in my mail almost every day.  Most of them are for clothes.  This is interesting because I don't buy my clothes through the mail.  However, I do enjoy looking through them.

I found a very interesting article about Hot Cocoa and thought I'd share it with you.  I was not aware of this information.

Now I'm going to get a bottle of cold water and enjoy reading your blogs.  So, till Wednesday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Blossom Time

May 6, 2022

Good morning.  Today will be in the mid sixties, and the next five days will drop back down into the fifties.  After that, Spring temps will be back.

The Cherry Blossom tree that we planted a few years ago is getting quite big.  The blossoms are really beautiful.  This tree doesn't grow cherries, just blossoms.  Hmmm.  I wonder why.

I'll have to see about getting the porch cleaned off next week.  It will soon be "sitting out" time.  I think I need a few more plants too.  I like to have a couple of them on the porch to look at.  I also have to check to see if I still have a small TV put away.  If not, I'll need to pick one up.

I've been working on the afghans.  Just a couple rows at a time.  For some reason, they are just not interesting me lately.  I think I'll have to start a sweater to work on in between afghan rows.  This will help to keep my interest up.

Remember I mentioned Fruit Slices?  There's only four of them left.  I only have a couple at a time, but they taste so darn good.  Hmmm, I'll have to order more of them.

Now I want to read some blogs.  So, till Monday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Beautiful Tulips

May 4, 2022

Good morning.  Tis  a gray day today.  However, the TV is good.  Law & Order till 3 p.m., and Blue Bloods till 3 a.m.  It doesn't get better than this!

I wonder why they don't have a Perry Mason day every now and then.  I would be their best supporter.  They could do Matlock from 10 a.m to 3 p.m., then Perry Mason from 3 p.m. till 3 a.m.  This would be my favorite TV day.

Today will be wet.  It's supposed to rain on and off most of the day.  Tomorrow the sun will be back.  Pretty soon the warmer temps will be here to stay.  Would you believe that summer will be here in about a month and a half?  Awesome!

How beautiful are these yellow tulips?  I don't ever remember seeing yellow ones before.  But, they are beautiful!  Here are some of the plants that I bought over the weekend.  Marigolds and Moss Roses.  They've been planted into long planter boxes, so I'll get new photos of them when they've grown a bit taller.

Yesterday, Deanne brought me a big container of Fruit Slices (candy).  Every now and then I have a piece or two.  Now it's looking like they might be all gone in another day or two.  Hmmm, I didn't realize I was eating this many.

Now it's time to make myself some breakfast.  So, till Friday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

May Blossoms

May 2, 2022

Good morning.  We are now in the merry month of May.  How quickly time goes by.  Today will be cloudy with temps around sixty degrees.

Steve asks for the name of my new pink plant.  It called "Dipladenia."

Deanne came by Saturday and planted all my new plants into pots and planters.  I'll take photos as soon as they start to grow a bit.  Twiggy also got planted into a pot.  It's going to grow into a Hummingbird Mint, and hopefully draw lots of these beautiful birds to it.

Pretty soon it will be time to clear off the porch and get it ready for sitting out.  I can't wait.  I think everyone should have a screened in porch.

My crocheting is coming along slowly.  I've only been doing a couple rows every other day or so.  I just haven't been in the mood.  That will have to change soon.  I need these afghans finished in the next couple of months.

Today is Law & Order day on TV.  You know what I'll be watching.  I can't believe there were so many episodes of the program that I did not see before.  Or maybe I did see them and just forgot all of them.  Either way, I'm glad they are back on TV.

Now I'm going to make a cup of coffee and enjoy a bit of blog reading.  So, till Wednesday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.
