Say Farewell To August

August 31, 2016

Good morning.  Wowsie!  Have you noticed that it is already the last day of August?  My goodness, this was a really quick month!  In just a few weeks, Autumn will begin.  Some kids have already started back to school, and next week our kids will be back in school too.

I called one of the local glass companies, and someone is coming by Friday to see what can be done to make some weather panels for the porch screens.  Hopefully, this will be a positive meeting, and we can come up with the panels that I'm looking for.

This morning, Cliff is outside painting the trim on the house.  The parts that are done are looking nice, but it makes the parts that aren't done look poorly.  I guess I'll have to get all the trim done.  Of course, what else is new?  I had originally planned on only having the front of the house done.  Ah well, I guess everything will look a lot nicer after all the trim is done.

Have you noticed that there aren't as many bees this year as there usually are?  I'm hoping that once we have more floral bushes planted on the porch side of the house that we'll get more bees coming to our yard.  Our plants need these bees.  Here's a couple photos from another year when the bees were more plentiful.

Today I think I'll make a pan of pasta and meat sauce for supper.  DIL Janet will be coming by after work, and this is one of our favorite meals.  Yummy!  I also want to play on my laptop too.  I'd like to make a few more quick pages to have on hand.

I do have a new QP for you today.   This one show's nature enjoying a happy, lazy summer day.  I hope you can use it.

Aunt Lucy has been away with family on Martha's Vineyard, and somewhere else on Cape Cod for the past week or so.  I'll give her a call later today to see if she's back home yet.  (or when)  I have some yarn for her but I don't want to send it to her unless she's back home.

Now I think I'll get the vacuum out and run it around a bit.  I want to spray the carpet and Pogo's furniture again.  Ssssh, I don't want to say this out loud, but it's looking like we're getting control over the flea problem.  But I'm not taking any chances, so a-spraying I will go.

On that happy note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Yesterday Was Such A Fun Day

August 30, 2016

Good morning.  It's 6:45 a.m., and this is the best part of the morning.  The sun is peeping over the tops of the trees, the flag is swaying slowly with the breeze, and the cool temps feel delicious on my skin.  (The door is open and the bottom window is up)  Pogo and I have just finished breakfast, and I'm enjoying my coffee while I type.

Yesterday was a nice day spent doing fun things.  Lots of small packages arrived in the mail, bringing me the beads that I've been waiting for.  Oh my, how pretty they are.  I was able to finish the bracelet that I was working on, and box it up nicely.

In the afternoon, I gave Pogo a nice bath with sweet smelling baby shampoo.  After I dry him off, I lay a dry towel on the sofa and he rolls around on it.  Here he is after all his rolling.  He knows I'm taking his photo, so he's determined not to look at me.  No problem Pogo.  You're adorable this way too.

Afterwards, I had a pleasant surprise visit from my stepson, Sean and my granddaughter Jaklyn.  (Sean's son Shane was not able to make this trip.)  They are heading back home to Florida today.

After Sean and Jaklyn left, Pogo and I came into the house to watch TV for a bit.  Well, actually I did the TV watching, and Pogo did the "Joe" watching.  Here he is in one of his favorite mid-afternoon spots.  (the bottom window is up and there's a nice breeze coming through the screen)  The other favorite spot is outside on the porch, looking through the slats on the gate.

Last evening, I checked over the last two afghans that I finished, the Scarlet one and the CafĂ© Latte one.  I wanted to make sure there were no loose yarn ends that needed to be woven into the afghan.  Today I will package them up in  their zippered bags and put them with the rest of the Holiday gifts.

Today I'll start working on the Turquoise afghan.   It's only about one third done, but I have plenty of time to get it finished.  I also need to order a couple more specialty beads so that I can make my next bracelet.   Did I mention how much fun all this is?

Ah well, CSI, Las Vegas is on TV now so I think I'll take my leave here and go watch it.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a magnificent day.

A "Pampering" Day For Pogo

August 29, 2016

Good morning.  Right now it is lovely.  The temp is 72F and there's a wonderful breeze.  However, that will change in a couple hours to hot and sticky.  I woke early, around 5:30 a.m. and opened the door and the screen to let in the cool air.  Then I went back to sleep.  Ahhhhh.

Yesterday was a rather quiet day here, with not much happening.  I did work on the scarlet afghan and finished it.  Maybe tonight I'll work on the last afghan for a while.  It will be good to get that one finished too.

I also worked on a bracelet.  This one is really pretty and almost finished .  I just have to wait for a couple more charms (that I ordered) to come in.  Sorry, I cannot show photos just yet.  I'll take some and save them in a folder for a post after the Christmas holidays.

Now that the butterfly bush has been transplanted to the porch side of the house, I'm hoping to be able to see a few butterflies out here.  There really hasn't been very many of them around this summer.  (in my yard)  I dug into my photo archives for a couple photos of the butterflies from a previous summer.

This lilac colored blossom is from the butterfly bush that we lost during the winter we had so much snow.  When I buy another butterfly bush, I'll be wanting another colorful one, because the plant that survived all the snow has white blossoms.

I think today I'll give Pogo a nice soothing bath.  No flea chemicals in this bath.  Just a nice smelling, skin softening lotion type of shampoo.  My poor little guy's skin is getting so dry from all the flea sprays and baths.  Plus he gets double the dose of flea medication because of his allergy to the fleas.  So today will be a "pampering" day for Pogo.

The sun has gone behind some clouds for a while, so I think I'll bathe Pogo now and we'll sit out on the porch while I dry him off and brush him.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEVIN

August 28, 2016

Good afternoon.  Sleep did not come so easy last night, so I slept in as late as I could this morning.  I had to get up once so that Pogo could go out to the main house and get his turkey treat, but then I crawled right back into bed for a bit more snoozing.  Thank goodness I'm retired and I can do this.

Today is grandson Kevin's birthday.  He is nineteen years old now and quite handsome I must say.  Kevin, I hope all your dreams come true.  Have a wonderful birthday.  I love you.  Here's a collage that his mom (Deanne) made.

Yesterday, Pogo and I went out early to do a couple errands, and we got home just as Joe got in from work.  (He had to work most if the morning.)  So we picked up Joe and went to Walmart so that I could get a supply of spring water.  The cases are heavy for me, so Joe carries them.  I'm very lucky to have Joe here to help me.

In the afternoon, I shopped for some new scrap kits, and made another quick page.  Then it was time to play with some of the new beads that I had ordered.  Oh my, some of them are just gorgeous.  Here's just a couple of my favorites.

This sort of hobby gets addictive and can be quite costly.  I have to be very brave and not buy up all these gorgeous goodies.  It's not easy, but I'm hanging in there.  (haha)

Today, Joe dug up one of our butterfly bushes and replanted it near the shed on my side of the house.  Now I just have to get a couple more floral bushes for this side of the house and it will be quite pretty.  I'm thinking that a different colored butterfly bush, another Rose of Sharon and a trumpet vine should do the job.

Now my little guy is looking at me as though he is in need of a food fix.  He is quite subtle with his hints.  He looks at me with very sad eyes, and then looks at the refrigerator.  Then he looks back at me.  If this doesn't work, he sighs and crawls up on his chair and goes to sleep.  Poor baby!!

On that note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Looking For A Bit Of Rain

August 26, 2016

Good morning.  Right now it is 77 and mostly grayish outside with a bit of a breeze.  Simply scrumptious!!  In a little while it will be much hotter, and most likely sunny.  We could possibly get a wee bit of the wet stuff today.  Gosh, I really hope so.

I looked in my photo archives and pulled a couple photos of this time in 2012.  It had rained so much that all of my side yard and most of the driveway was under water.

Now mind you, I'm not asking for a flood or anything severe, but some rain would be nice.  All of our water supply levels are way down, and pretty soon the cities and towns will have to go to the last stage of the water ban.

Gosh, just imagine if we had water pipelines installed across the country.  There would be no drought, no floods, and probably no wild fires burning.  Could the solution really be that easy?  Silly me for even thinking that way.

Yesterday, Pogo and I had a nice lazy day.  Cliff got most of the painting done around the front entrance to the house before he had to leave.  He'll be back next week to finish it up.  A lot of the other trim on the house could use a bit of paint, so maybe I'll have him do that too.

Daughter Deanne finally got an appointment for her interview with the police for her LTC.   (license to carry)  Unfortunately, her appointment is a month a way.  They must be a lot busier in her town than in mine.  The officer she spoke with did not sound very happy, so I hope her appointment goes well.

This morning I must put together a shopping list and head for the market to pick up some groceries and staples.  It's also time to pick up a few cases of spring water.  My supply is down to less than half a case.  Pogo and I do not drink the town water.  That's one way that I spoil us.

I finally picked up my crocheting again, and put a few more rows on the scarlet afghan.  There's only a few more rows to go and it will be finished, so I'll probably do that over the weekend.  After that, there's just one more afghan to finish and my Christmas crochet projects will be finished.

It's getting close to mid morning, so I guess I'd best get dressed and head for the market before it gets too hot outside.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a magnificent weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Really Busy Day

August 25, 2015

Good morning.  (even though it's only twenty three minutes after midnight!)  Pogo and I had to go out early yesterday morning to do a few errands, and it was after three in the afternoon when we finally finished our traipsing around and made it back home.  Whew!  What a long day.

We started out by going to the bank, then on to Home Depot to buy some more paint for the house outside trim.  While we were there we looked at their plexiglass sheets to see if they had what I'm looking for.  I'm wanting to make (or have made) Winter weather protective covers for the screen panels on the porch.  Their large sheets of plexiglass would need to be cut to size, and they did not do that there.

After chatting with a fellow from that department, we headed over to Loew's to see what they had for plexiglass.  Unfortunately, they did not carry sheets large enough for what I need.  But the man there did tell me about the two local glass companies that might be able to help me with this project.

Next, Pogo and I made the rounds of all the craft stores looking for a few specific beads and charms for some projects I'm going to be working on.  We browsed through A.C. Moore, JoAnn's and Michaels craft stores.  I did not find everything I was looking for, but I did find a couple of things that are just perfect for what I am making.  (can't say too much because they are going to be gifts)

Before we even made it out of the first craft store, my hips and legs were giving out on me.  It was getting a bit difficult just to stand up, let alone walk.  But we plodded on.  When we came out of the last craft store, I really needed a nice cold iced coffee and Pogo was on the verge of starvation.  (Just kidding.  He just looks that way so I'll get him something special.)

So we headed on over to McDonalds and got a double hamburger plain for Pogo, and a nice cold iced coffee for me.  Ooooohhhh, that tastes soooo good!  We stayed there, parked in the shade, while Pogo ate his hamburger, then we headed on to our last errand for the day.  The Post Office.  We had a box to mail off to daughter Audrey.  Done at last!!

Once we got home, I took the foam insert out of the mattress on Pogo's new porch bed, and refilled it with some super soft Poly-Fill that I had picked up earlier at JoAnn's.  Wowsie, what a difference this made.  Now his mattress was super soft and comfy.

Shortly after that, Joe got home from work and it was time for Pogo's turkey treat.  You might think that he would be too full from lunch to have his treat, but oh no.  He ran right out into the main house to meet Joe, and enjoyed all of his turkey treat.  No, he's not over-eating.  He did not have any supper until just a little while ago (around midnight).  Now he's curled up beside me, sleeping and dreaming of all the mischief he can get into tomorrow.

I want to sleep late in the morning, so that's why I'm posting now.  Plus, Cliff (Eddie's friend) will be coming by in the morning to do some more painting, so it will be rather busy around here.  I came across a rather nifty sewing project on the web and thought I'd share it here with you.  Aren't these cool?  They are crate covers and padding for the inside of the crates.

I also have a new quick page for you.  This one features Zlata, who has been chatting with her friend the Blue Jay, and now she is pondering something that he has told her.  Have fun with it.

Now my eyelids are beginning to get heavy, and hopefully, sleep isn't very far off.  So, on that note, I bid you happy dreams.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Such A Simply Gorgeous Morning

August 23, 2016

Good morning.  Although I got up rather early this morning, I was not able to post here because Google Blogger was down for a while.  Perhaps for maintenance?

Last night was sooo cool, oh my it was wonderful!!  I left the door windows up until the whole place felt really cool, then shut the door and put the lights out.  zzzzzzzzzzz

Today I can show you the beautiful bracelet that daughter Audrey made for her friend.  Isn't this pretty?  I'm going to have to get more beads and charms so that I can make a few more of these bracelets.

I got an email yesterday from Pogo's foster mom.  Her hubby was the person who outbid me for the bigger doggie bed.  Here's a photo of their little Trinket enjoying her new bed.

The packages that the mailman brought yesterday contained some more jewelry components and a pretty new bobble for me.  I saw this on the Jewelry Television station a week ago, and fell in love with it.  It's big and bold with lots of Peridot.  I find that as my hands age, they look much better with larger rings.  (haha)

Today I will do a bit of vacuuming, then I think that Pogo and I will sit out on the porch for a while.  Even though the temperature will get up to the low 80's in a few hours, right now the temp is 71F.  Oh my, I love it!!!

Jazzy is at home now recovering from oral surgery.  Mom (Dee Dee) is out picking up some ice cream for her.  The dentist said that Jazzy can have ice cream and yogurt.  Jazzy is in the process of having braces put on her teeth.  Just a bit of an enhancement to her beautiful smile.

Now it's time to lather my little guy all over with the Aloe Vera Gel before heading out on the porch.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

All Sorts Of Wonderful Goodies

August 22, 2016

Good morning.  Well, what's left of it.  It's almost noon here.  Between a nice nap yesterday, and dozing off rather early last night, I wasn't able to sleep through the night.  Besides, the air was quite sticky.  So I got up and made us some breakfast, watched a little TV, then went back to bed to sleep. The rain that we were expecting did not come till this morning, and it didn't last very long.

Daughter Audrey made it home safely, and her family was really glad to have her back again.  Her granddaughter Alena had so much to tell her about all of the week's happenings.  Family is awesome, folks.  Just awesome!

My friend Kyra made me this gorgeous scrap page and I must share it here.  This is beautiful Kyra.  Thank you so much.  My girls and I just love it.  It put a huge smile on my face. (and my heart)  You are right Kyra, it's not very easy to get a photo like this where my kids all live so far apart.  This is so very special to me.

Yesterday, Pogo and I unpacked all the goodies that were included with his new porch bed.  Wow, what a really nice assortment.  Here's a photo of everything, and a couple close ups.

And here's a photo of Pogo checking out the new bunny.  It must have had some super nice smells on it because Pogo was busy sniffing it for about ten minutes.

I guess today will be a "spray, wash and vacuum" day.  Blankets, towels, carpet, floor and yup, Pogo too.  Not the vacuum part, of course, but the wash and lather with Aloe Vera Gel part.  The gel goes on sort of gooey, but then it dries soft.  Once it is all dry, I brush Pogo till all his curls shine.

I can see the mailman coming up the driveway with our mail and a couple packages.  Woo Hoo!!  I've been waiting for some things that we ordered (Audrey and I) this past week.  Hopefully, that's what's in the packages.  Supplies to make things with, and something nice for us.

Well now it's time to get busy here.  First I must go get all that mail.  haha.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Travel Safely Audrey. I Miss You Already.

August 21, 2016

Good morning.  I'm very sad just now.  Pogo and I took my daughter Audrey to the airport shuttle bus early this morning, and by now she's probably already on a plane headed home.  One week is just too short.  I was already missing her before the bus pulled out this morning.  Travel safely Audrey.  I love you.

Yesterday Pogo, Audrey and I went to the annual BBQ fund raiser for the shelter that brought me my Pogo.  (Poodle Rescue of New England)  Oh my goodness, Pogo was in heaven.  So many doggies to meet and sniff.  Most all the doggies were poodles (of course) but there were a few different breeds.

I took Pogo over to one large group of folks and doggies, and he was so excited and happy that he peed all over one lady's chair cover that was on the grass next to her. Yup, that's my boy!!

Pogo's foster mother and her hubby were there with two of their tiny little fur babies.  Here's a photo of one their little cuties.  Would you believe, six years and two and a half pounds!  Is this not precious?

Seated at the table directly behind us was an adorable little white poodle with her foster mom.  This little darling has only been in foster care for a little more than a month, and is loving all the cuddles and hugs she's getting now.  Look at this precious little face.  Isn't she just adorable?

There was music and dancing (if you wanted to) and lots and lots of wonderful silent auction items.  I bid on a three day two night stay at a resort in Maine.  I did not get it, but it did raise a lot of money.  There were so many things to bid on, but I mostly only bid on two hand made doggie beds.  This first one was made and donated by a couple from Maine, and I bid $80.  Some one outbid me by $5, so I did not get this one.  (The other person really wanted this one.)

The other bed that I bid on was also hand made, a bit smaller, and it came with lots of doggie goodies.  I bid $55, and I won this one.  (This is the one I really wanted the most.)

Pogo was really having a fantabulous time.  Here he is mesmorized by some of the other doggies near us.

After a few hours, my little guy was all tuckered out from the excitement so he got in his stroller and took a nap.

Once we got home, Auntie Audrey unwrapped Pogo's new porch bed, put a little blanket on it, and set it out on the porch.  Right away, Pogo checked it out.  Oh yes, this will do just nicely!

Later today, I'll take photos of all the wonderful goodies that came with the new little bed.  There's a rope toy and a box of doggie treats that Pogo will give to Sassy.  But, he's keeping his new little bed!!  haha.  We all had a really wonderful outing today.

Friday evening, I went to my appointment for an interview at the Police Department.  I have to say that although I was a bit nervous, the police officer made me feel comfortable and at ease.  The interview went well, and hopefully, I'll have my license in six to eight weeks.

Later that evening, I pulled out some of the new goodies that I had bought at the craft store and made a really pretty bracelet.  I can't show you a photo of it yet because it's going to be a Christmas gift for someone.  However, Tuesday, I can show you a photo of the bracelet that Audrey made for her friend.

Pogo and I are still battling with the flea problem.  Every time we think they are all gone, another one or two of them show up.  Pogo is so low to the ground that these pesky little buggers jump right on him.  Seems like he's in the sink just about every day getting a bath.  But then, I rub his whole body down with aloe vera gel so that his skin does not dry out.  Hopefully, when the hot weather leaves, the fleas will too.

Now it's time to wash up the dishes and find some fun mischief to get into.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Fun Visit With Aunt Lucy

August 19, 2016

Good morning.  Tis a beautiful morning, and there's a teeny little breeze coming in through the screen.  But tonight will drop blessfully down into the 60's.  Last night was a bit sticky and warm, so the coolness tonight is going to be great for sleeping.

Yesterday, Kevin, Audrey, Pogo and I went to spend some time with Aunt Lucy.  And yes, we had a really fun time.  I do have some photos to share from our visit.  This first photo is Audrey, Aunt Lucy and Kevin.  I'm in the second photo, and the last photo is Pogo.  He's on my chest, looking up at me.

Later, when we were at home, we decided that we needed a few more beads, so we headed back to the craft stores.  A few beads and incidentals later, we headed back home.  Audrey made a beautiful bracelet to give to a friend, but I can't post that photo till next week.  (just in case that person reads my blog)

Today is going to be a lazy day, We are going to work on crafts, and doodle a bit in Photoshop.  Tonight I have my appointment for an interview with the Police officer who is in charge of giving out the licenses.  Wish me luck.  I understand it could be three months before I know anything.

I know this is a short post, but now I'm off to spend some crafty time with my daughter.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Am I A Proud Mommy? Oh Yes!!

August 18, 2016

Good morning.  It's gorgeous outside right now.  Today is not going to be as hot (according to the weather forecast), and there's a slight breeze.  The night was nice and cool, and I left the window on the storm door up all night.  Oh boy, did we ever sleep good!

Yesterday, Audrey, Pogo and I stopped over at Deanne's house for a nice visit.  Folks, time is just too short.  It's so good to have my girls around at the same time.  We had a wonderful time together, and Pogo had such fun chasing Sassy around.  Here's a photo of Audrey and Deanne, and another of the three of us.  My first born, and my third born.

Last evening, DOL Janet came by, and we had Audrey's and Janet's favorite, Stouffers Macaroni and Cheese, for supper.  Afterwards, Pogo sat on Auntie Janet's lap and enjoyed all the extra petting.  It was so nice that he had a hard time keeping his eyes open, and several times he almost fell over asleep.  Here's a photo of him just as he was starting to fall over.

This morning, in just a little while, we need to get dressed because grandson Kevin will be here to pick us up.  We're going to spend some time with Aunt Lucy this morning.  Aunt Lucy won't be able to go to the animal shelter fund raiser BBQ with us this weekend, so Joe will go with us.  Aunt Lucy will be leaving tomorrow for a week on Martha's Vineyard with her daughter in law.

Well, now I must be getting dressed.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

This Visit Is Just Too Darn Short!!

August 17, 2016

Good morning.  It's a beautiful sunny day with just a tad bit of a breeze.  I was able to enjoy my coffee out on the porch this morning before the heat started coming our way.  The only problem I have with sitting out on the porch is that Pogo does not want to come back in the house right away.  Such a problem, huh?  My little guy just loves the porch.

Today's post will be a bit short because I'm using most all my time to just enjoy my visit with my daughter Audrey.  Yesterday, we (Pogo, Audrey and me) went shopping again at another craft store.  This time we found some goodies that we've been looking for to finish a couple jewelry projects.  The only pieces we did not find, I was able to find on Amazon.  They should arrive tomorrow.

One of my great grandsons celebrated his eighth birthday this week.  This is Zack, Audrey's grandson.  Isn't he just handsome?  Happy Birthday Zack.  I hope all your birthday wishes came true.

I also have another photo to share of Pogo.  Here he is all pooped out and far off into dreamland.  He's been playing with Auntie Audrey and now he's happily resting on the sofa near her.

Today, we will be working on a jewelry project, playing a bit in Photoshop, and going to visit with Deanne for a while.  Another busy full day.  Ah, but it is wonderful.

I do have a new quick page for you.  I made this one totally from a kit by Lemur Designs.  I hope you can use it.

Now I'm off to get into some more lovely mischief with my daughter.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

My Little Guy Is A Very Happy Camper

August 16, 2016

Good morning.  Sorry for being among the missing yesterday, but by the time I could get to my laptop, it was too late for posting.  I'm using most of my time to just enjoy my daughter's company.  Audrey's flight arrived only an hour later than it was originally scheduled, and she took the shuttle bus to Braintree where Pogo and I were waiting to pick her up.

Was Pogo happy to see Aunty?  Oh yes, he sure was!!  Here are a few photos I took of him basking in the warmth of Auntie's lap in the car on the ride home from Braintree.  He is just loving this extra attention.

While Audrey is here, I will try to remember to take some photos.  Like lots of folks, I get so involved with enjoying the company, that I forget to take photos.  I shall have to work on this.

The temperatures here are just wicked hot.  Last night though, it cooled down to around 69F, so the sleeping was comfortable if the windows were all open.  Needless to say, we slept really good.  As much as I don't like to wish the months away, the Autumn temps are going to be a blessing.

Yesterday, Pogo, Audrey and I went carousing a few of the craft stores.  No, I did not buy any more yarn, but I did find another gift to put away in my Christmas tote.  I think this week I have to make an inventory sheet of the contents of the giftee tote and the giftee drawer.

Well, that's my news for today.  It's time to put our heads together to figure out what sort of mischief we can get into today.  Temps are supposed to only get up into the 80's today so maybe we'll be able to get out and about.

Now it's time to think about what's for lunch.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Looking Forward To A Wonderful Week With Daughter Audrey

August 14, 2016

Good morning.  At the moment, it isn't too bad outside yet (sunny and HOT), but in another hour or so the heat will be brutal.  Thank goodness for the bit of rain that we did get during the night.  There was thunder and lightning, but not very much noise.  A short downpour, followed by light rain for a while managed to put a few small puddles in the driveway.  (they are all gone now)

I had dozed off early in the evening, so I was awake through much of the night.  However, I did get a few hours sleep early this morning.  This is good because I still have a few things to do before it is time to go pick up my daughter Audrey.  Her flight was delayed this morning, so she will be getting here an hour later than we had planned.

Pogo and I are so looking forward to having Audrey here this week.  Him because it means extra spoiling for him, and me because I don't get to see her very often and I miss her.  Your babies can grow up into adults, but they are always your babies.

Yesterday started out as a very gray and damp day that brought us cooler temps.  Oh my, even though the air was damp, it's coolness felt delicious on our skin.  Pogo and I took a nice long break and sat out on the porch.  While we were out there, a tiny hummingbird entertained us as it went from the feeder to the petunias to the Rose of Sharon bush, taking sweet sips from everything.

While we sitting out there, I took a photo of the petunia plant that is on the porch.  It has so many different shades of pink and purple on all its blooms.

I also took another photo of the Rose of Sharon (which I believe is part of the Hibiscus family) because it is just so pretty this year.  The bush has thickened up nicely and has been covered in gorgeous blooms.

This morning I'm finishing up a bit of laundry, and then I'll relax a bit before going to pick up my daughter.  I'd like to give Pogo another flea bath (just precautionary) too.  Can't be too careful.  With temperatures running so much higher than average, the fleas are coming out in full force.  I would just prefer that they stay outdoors far away from our yard.  (haha, I'm a dreamer!)

Well, that's my news for this morning.  It's time to see what's for lunch and to decide on what to make for tonight's supper.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Just A Speck More Rain, Please?

August 12, 2016

Good morning.  Gosh, I was so hoping for some rain this morning, but as I look out my door, the sun is shining through the tree tops.  Ah well, I can hope.  I'm up earlier than I had hoped to be, but sleep was very difficult.  It was right around 80 degrees all through the night and very sticky.

I have so much to do here, but I keep getting sidetracked.  At least I'm lucky to be retired.  I don't have many time restrictions.  But I wanted to get so many things done before daughter Audrey got here, and it's just not happening the way I had planned.

With all the extra laundry I've been having to do because of the flea situation, I now have more piles of clean stuff to put away.  Plus I still have a couple more loads of laundry waiting to be done sometime today.  It's going to be a very busy day.

Somewhere along the way I'm going to have to find time to go grocery shopping.  I would have gone yesterday, but it is just so hot in the afternoon when Joe wants to go that I opted not to go.  Maybe I can go sometime this morning before it gets too hot.  We'll see.

I did not make a new quick page this week, so I went into my archives and found a really pretty one that I made three years ago.  Maybe some of you can use this one.  It's called "After The Rain."

Today, I'm going to go through all my blankets, and put together a whole bunch of them that I will donate to the local animal shelter.  I could put them in the Goodwill Box, but I think the shelter animals might be needing them a lot more.

My friend Rhoda sent me some old photos, and I thought I would share this one.  How many of you remember enjoying lunch seated at one of these lunch counters from 1960?  A lot of the big department stores had them.  My favorite was Woolworth's in Quincy Square.  (Massachusetts)

I have another thought provoking image that I borrowed from the web.  It really gives a person something to think about.  We have so much to be thankful for.

Well, Pogo has had his breakfast, and now he is napping.  I think I'll take this time to get dressed and who knows"  Maybe I'll take a quick trip to Walmart for a few groceries before the temps get up into the 90's.  We'll see.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

A Super Use For Epsom Salts

August 11, 2016

Good morning.  Yup, I'm late again, but sleep was not so easy during the night because of the muggies, so I slept in as late s I could this morning.  Today is very warm here.  The cool nights that we've been enjoying lately have been replaced with temps in the mid 70's.  Those temps are great for daytime, but a bit too warm for sleeping during the night.

Pogo has been doing so good lately with no fleas.  Oops, spoke too soon.  Yesterday I found one on him, so I put him in the sink for a bath.  Afterwards, I combed him out and found a dead one.  Yuk!  The bath towels were then put back in the wash, and today the blankets will all get washed again.

Dwarf Helen has just sprinkled the floors in the main part of the house with Epsom salts, and I'll do mine when I finish this post.  I'll sprinkle Pogo's and my furniture too.  I just called Cliff and he'll come over in a few hours to vacuum it all up.  Technically, it should be down longer, but I don't want to take a chance that Pogo will want to eat any of it.

You can bathe your doggie with Epsom salts too.  You mix 8 tablespoons with a gallon of warm water and use this for the bath water.  Keep your fur baby in the water for five minutes, rinse and dry off.  I would check on Google for the right recipe for bathing kitties.  You can also bathe them in Dawn dish detergent.  This also will kill the fleas.

Last evening, I took this photo of Pogo with my phone.  It's not easy to get a photo of him looking at me because as soon as he sees the phone he hides his face.  So, I have to be really quick.  He's curled up on a couple of his little blankets on his chair.

I found a photo on Facebook that I borrowed to share with you.  This one really got to me.  The look on this little doggie's face tells me that he has been abused, and is ever so grateful to the person holding him for being kind and sharing love.  And I am ever so grateful that this person came along to save this little doggie.

Well, it's getting late and I've lots of things to get done here today.  I'm going to sprinkle the Epsom salts everywhere now and then see about rustling up some lunch for Pogo and me.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
