Have A "Booey" Halloween

October 31, 2018

Good morning.  Brrr!  Tis sunny and cold.  Only 32F degrees at the moment but it's supposed to warm up to the low fifties this afternoon and stay that way all through the night.   My broom has been doing a happy dance since we decided to go on this year's annual ride.  Even Pogo is getting excited.  It's been two years since he's seen some of his "fur friends" because we could not make the ride last year.

We're expecting a few more days with rain and gray skies, so I guess today is the best day for Pogo and me to do our errands.  I want to pick up a couple more skeins of the pretty light yellow yarn that I bought at Ocean State Job Lot the last time we were there.  I'm thinking of making an afghan with it.

As I look out my door, my trees out front are looking more yellow now than green.  They really are beautiful, but soon the rest of the leaves will be gone and cold weather will settle in until next Spring.

Audrey and Mac are back from North Carolina, where they spent some time with their son John and his son Zack.  John is on leave (from the Navy) and will soon be shipping out to Japan.  Audrey sent me some photos to share.

John, Mac, Zack.

John, Zack, Audrey, Mac.

Did I mention that Audrey had her hair done when she went home from her visit here?  Yup, she went from red back to blonde.  It looks great Audrey.  And your smile makes my eyes happy!

Today I have another quick page for you.  This one should be fun for photos of your little trick or treaters.  May they all have a safe and happy evening and get lots of goodies.

Now it's time for me to get dressed and ready to do a couple errands.  Before I go, let me wish you all a happy and safe Halloween.

So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

A Busy Day Here

October 30, 2018

Good afternoon.  Well, so far today has been pretty busy.  Early this morning, I picked up Deanne and Jazzy.  After dropping Jazzy off at the college, we headed for the Motor Vehicles Registry.  We were prepared to be in for a two or three hour wait, but there was an angel looking out for us.  We were in and out of the Registry in less than twenty minutes.  Wowsie!  Now that was a first!  I should get my new license in the mail in about a week.

On the way home, I stopped by WalMart to pick up some groceries.  My food supplies were getting pretty low so I had to get quite a lot of things.  When I got home, I brought the groceries into the house in batches.  Slowly.  And I put them all away slowly too.  First the frozen stuff, then everything else.  I left the two cases of water in the car.  I'll ask Joe if he'll bring them in for me later.

For a while, I kept feeling as though I was forgetting something, but for the love of me I just couldn't think what it could be.  Ding!  Ding!  Finally a bell went off in my brain.  It was my blog that I was missing.  So here I am.

A reader has asked me what a quick page is.  This is a good question because not everyone does digital scrapbooking.  Basically, I make a scrapbook page and leave an empty space on it so that you can put your photo there.  You put the photo behind the frame opening, then add whatever embellishments you might want to the page, and then you print it.

It's called a quick page because all you have to do is add your photo and any embellishments you might want to it.  If there are any more questions regarding how to use these quick pages, just send me an email (it's on my profile page) and I'll be glad to help you.

I found a couple interesting items on the web and I thought I would share.  The first is a Comfort Calming Blanket.  It is a weighted blanket that helps a person to sleep comfortably all night.  This would be great for folks who have trouble getting to sleep at night.  The blanket can be purchased from Sharper Image or from https://calmnqcomfortblanket.com.

The other thing is a new line of cobalt blue glass dishware and accessories.  These are marketed by "Pioneer Woman."  This line was introduced this Fall at WalMart and a few other stores.   There are more items to be introduced in the Spring.  Visit her web site to see some of the available items.  http://thepioneerwoman.com.

This new line of glassware reminds me so much of the glassware from my childhood days.  A lot of our glassware was called carnival glassware.  The colors were just gorgeous.  Then there were the white milk glass  pieces.  I still have a couple of small items tucked away.  It's so nice to see these things coming back.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a nice day, so I'm thinking that maybe Pogo and I could take a ride to Ocean State Job Lot to see what's new.  While we're there we can pick up some more bird seed.  Then we'll have an early supper because we're going to meet up with some friends to go on our annual broom ride.  Temps are supposed to be fairly nice so this will be a fun evening.

Now it's time to start thinking about what to make for our supper.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous evening.

Hugs, Edna B.

Those Red Sox Are Awesome!

October 29, 2018

Good morning.  Tis another wet, gray day here in my tiny little part of the world.  Yesterday was like this but then the sun came out for a while and everything looked really nice.  Maybe we'll get lucky today too?

My trees out front are turning color fast.  The green is turning to yellow and everyday they lose a lot of leaves.  I took this photo yesterday while the sun was shining.  This is such a beautiful sight to see when I look out my door.

Did anyone watch the game last night?  Woo Hoo!  Those Red Sox are AWESOME!!   The L.A. Dodgers put up a great fight, but this title is ours.  There was just no stopping the Red Sox this year.

I've been staying away from the news lately because the news gets so gruesome.  I turned it on yesterday morning to all sorts of horrible news.  My heart goes out to all those folks who were hurt (and killed) at that synagogue.  What is happening to the folks in this country of ours?  When are we all going to be able to live together in harmony?

Oh dear, I've just gone through my "sneezing spell" and I'm hoping it's finished.  Whatever causes it to happen almost daily, (probably allergies) has unfortunately been passed on to my daughter Audrey.   She has these sneezing spells too.  For this I'm sorry.

At the Cabaret this past Saturday night, I was only able to take one photo.  This one is of Jazzy and Krissy.  Krissy is mother to Jazzy's long time friend Cole.  These kids have been best friends since kindergarten.  (I do believe that Cole is now at West Point)  I think it is just awesome to have a friend from so early in your childhood.

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon working on quick pages.  It was so relaxing, that before I knew it Pogo was sniffing his dinner mat looking for his supper.  Time flies when you are having fun.  But then I got up to treat my little guy to a special supper.  I had brought home a big chunk of my prime rib from Saturday night, so I warmed that up for him.  Need I say that he licked his plate clean?

I found a really funny image on the web and I just have to share it with you.  The first time I saw it, I thought "how weird!"  I did not make much sense of it.  The second time I looked at it, I had a good chuckle.

Well, that's my news for today.  Tomorrow I may be posting in the afternoon.  I'm planning on going to the registry to renew my license early in the morning.  Hopefully, I'll only be there a couple hours.  Even less would be better but I'm trying to be realistic.

I'm off now.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Gypsy And The Red Sox. Awesome!

October 28, 2018

Good morning.  Tis nippy, gray and wet again this morning.  There's been a bit of wind lately, and my yard looks as thought all the leaves in the neighborhood have been dumped here.  The wind even blew the rain and lots of leaves up onto my porch.

So, what have I been up to these past couple of days?  Well, I did not go to renew my license.  I'm going to do that this week.  Probably tomorrow or Tuesday morning.  Instead, I worked on my new calendar and my Christmas cards.  By eleven o'clock Friday night, I was ready to order my calendars.  Woo Hoo!

Then I started in on my card.  I usually make two or three (or more) different versions before settling on the one that I want.  This time I had five versions before I was happy with it.  Now I closed up my Photoshop program and settled in my lounge chair to watch the rest of the baseball game.

Wow!  Who'd have thought I'd be up till 3:30 in the morning watching the same game?  Would you believe, they played eighteen innings before the Dodgers finally got the winning run.  What a game!  I felt so bad knowing that these players had to play again in less than twenty four hours.

Saturday morning, I got started again on my card.  When it was ready, I uploaded it to the printing company, Vista Print.  Surprise, surprise, my card was just a teeny bit too big to fit properly.  I had to re-adjust the size several times before getting it right.  The staff at this company is really helpful, and the girl on the phone helped me to get my card fitting just right.  She even helped me to put my order in.  Now I just have to sit back and wait for the calendars and cards to come in the mail.

Now it was time for a wee bit of a nap.  Deanne and her friend Krissy and I were all going to watch Jazzy and the Starliners performing Gypsy again.  And we did.  Folks, it just keeps getting better every time I go to see it.  We had an awesome time and a wonderful dinner.

Would you believe, there was even a wonderful young man standing outside in the rain with a large umbrella to walk folks from their cars to the door so they wouldn't get wet.  How awesome!  It really made one feel a bit like royalty.  Mmmmm!  It was the perfect touch to an awesome evening.

Once I got home and had a chance to cuddle with Pogo, I went looking for the baseball game on my TV.  I couldn't find it so I turned to Google on my phone to catch up with what the score was.  It was the bottom of the ninth inning and the Red Sox were ahead.  Then one, two, three outs later it was over.  The Red Sox won!  Woo Hoo!  Just one more game to win for the title!

So, with all this going on, guess what I did not do.  You guessed it.  I did not get to work on my quick pages.  For this I apologize, so I pulled out two of my favorites from three years ago.  I promise to make a couple new ones for later in the week.  Here are two of my favorite oldies.

Every now and then, someone comes up with a new product or invention that catches my eye.  I found this picture on the web and just had to share it.  It's a Twin Engine Broom.  Can you believe it?  Wow, I wonder how fast this thing goes.  When Pogo and I get together this week with my friends, I'll have to see what they all think of it.

I've been watching the Pioneer Woman on TV this morning.  She's been making some super delicious desserts.  (and making me hungry!)  She has a food blog, so I think I'll try to look it up.  Her recipes seem easy enough, at least the ones she makes on TV.  I'll let you know what I find.

Now it's time for me to get a fresh cup of coffee and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

It's A Crispy Beautiful Day

October 26, 2018

Good morning.  Tis quite nippy this morning here in New England.  The sun is shining, there's a little bit of a breeze and the temperature is 33F degrees.  Brrrrr! Later it should rise to the mid forties.  I guess you could say that it's a crispy beautiful day.

Well, yesterday I did start to work on my new calendar, but then I got side tracked.  What else is new?  First by a phone call, then one of the dwarfs needed something.  By the time I got back to my laptop, Pogo was sniffing around for something to eat.  Eventually I got back to my chore but I did not stay with it very long.

Today I'll have to try managing my time a bit better.  No projects or long calls until after I at least get all my photos picked out for the calendar.  After that, it won't take long to finish it up.  Gosh, talk about getting side tracked, there are two little birdies outside my door looking in at me.  I guess they are wanting some food.

A few minutes ago, a little squirrel was sitting on top of the gate on my porch.  He was holding a peanut, and stayed there until he finished eating it.  So, before I get started on my pictures, I will put together a bowl of birdseed and peanuts to take out to my little friends.  It's cold and they need the food to stay alive.

This reminds me of a beautiful poem that I found on the web.  I borrowed it to share here.

Folks, don't forget.  There are lots of beautiful animals in shelters that are needing forever homes.  Some of them are old and would love to have someone to love them for whatever time they have left.  I promise, you won't regret sharing your home with one of these precious souls.

On a different matter, texting while driving can be very hazardous to your health.  This goes for my friends who ride brooms too.  Please be careful, and put your phones away until you get to your destination.

Last night, instead of crocheting, I watched a movie that my daughter Deanne had recommended.  Gosh, what a movie!  It's title is "Same Kind Of Different As Me."  If you have a chance to watch it, be sure to keep your box of tissues close by.

Tomorrow night, Deanne and Eddie and I are going to the Cabaret to see Gypsy again.  This is the last weekend to see this awesome performance by the Starliners.  If you have the chance, give yourself a treat and catch one of these last showings.  You'll be so glad you did.

Now it's time for me to gather up that bird and critter food and take it outdoors.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Some Ads Just Don't Need To Be Seen

October 25, 2018

Good morning.  So far, it's looking really nice outside my door.  The sun is shining and there's a wee bit of a breeze.  Hopefully, it will stay like this all day.  Yesterday, the weather kept changing as though it were a faucet that someone was turning.  Not as much fun as it sounds.

It was a quiet day here for Pogo and me.  I paid a few bills, washed some dishes, and not much else.  At least I can't think of whatever else I did.  Things are so different from when I was younger.  Years ago, I could remember what I did for days and weeks at a time.  No so, now.  Ah well, I guess if it were important, I'd have remembered it.

Today I have to get something off my mind.  Is anyone else noticing how disgusting some of the TV commercials are becoming?  I'm not a prude, but there are some things that just don't belong on the TV screen.  At least not on my TV.

The ad is for one of the new "Poo" stink remover products.  It opens with an airline pilot, in uniform, sitting on the toilet with his pants down around his ankles.  He's facing the camera and talking about how when he is going to dump his "luggage" he puts this product into the toilet to get rid of the stink.  Then it shows two drawings of toilets with little brown suitcases floating around in the water.

I don't know about you, but I find this offensive.  Sadly, there are no published schedules to let the public know when which commercial will be aired on the TV.  Other wise, folks like me could change the channel before the ads come on.  Okay, nuff said!

I have no new photos to share, so I dug into my archives and came up with these photos from six years ago today.  These are the things I saw when I looked out the window while I was at work.  The weather was very much like it is today, and this Robin and Northern Flicker were scurrying around looking for food.

This little chipmunk was also out looking for food, and the pink Knock Out roses were till blooming.

As I sit here looking out my door, I'm noticing that a couple little birds have been staying inside the eaves on my little porch roof.  I'll have to put some bird food a little closer to the porch for them.  Actually, when I finish this post, I think I'll take out a big bowl of peanuts for the birds and the little critters.

I need to seriously start putting together the photos that I will be needing for my new calendar.  Time is flying by and there are only a few more days till November.  Do you realize there are only five more weeks till Thanksgiving, six weeks till Hanukkah, and a little more than nine weeks till Christmas?

I have so much still to do and so little time to do it.  But then it's like this every year.  So, I guess today's project will be to work on my calendar.  After that, I'll need to work on my Christmas card.  Once my calendars are printed and I get them, I can start to pack up some of my holiday boxes.  Yup, I may be rushed, but I'm really right on time.  (for me, that is!)

The mailman just came and he brought me a package from my friend Kyra in Holland.  Woo Hoo!  It's a birthday present!  I set the package on the kitchen counter.  It keeps winking at me, saying  "Open me!  Open me!"  But no, I will have to wait a few more days.  Meanwhile, I need to put a package in the mail early next week for my daughter Laura Jean's birthday.

Now I think I'll do a bit of blog reading before I start working on my calendar photos.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Today's Weather Just Can't Make Up Its Mind

October 24, 2018

Good morning.  Tis gray with temps in the mid forties, and there's a wee bit of a breeze.  We still have puddles left over from yesterday.  They're not big enough to be needing a canoe, but they are big enough for the birds and the small critters to play and bathe in.

Yesterday was quite a day for weather.  We had wind and rain, sometimes coming down heavy.  And for about an hour and a half we were under tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings.  I kept the Weather Channel on, and took a couple photos from the TV screen.

This first photo shows the storm in Raynham, MA.  There was some damage reported, although I don't think there was a lot.  (I hope)

This next photo shows the funnel clouds over Cape Cod by the Bourne Bridge.

There were other funnel clouds and a few water funnels reported (and shown on TV).  We were lucky in our area.  We had no hail or tornadoes, just wind and rain and thunder and lightning.  For this, I'm thankful.

Pogo and I were able to stand out on the porch and watch a lot of the weather yesterday.  I did notice that my Imperial Tree is almost naked now.  It is covered with new nuts, but very few leaves left on it.

I'm noticing that some of the leaves on my big trees out front are beginning to turn a yellowy green.   This part makes me a little sad because it means that soon all the leaves will turn yellow and fall to the ground.   The trees are so beautiful with all their grassy green leaves.

I just went out to meet the mailman, and I noticed that my car is covered with rain drops.  However, as I look out my door now, the sun is shining and things are looking brighter.  Even when it is cold, it always feels better when the sun is shining.

Today I have a new quick page for you.  This one is another from my Halloween collection.  Have some fun with it.

Here is your download link:

My coffee cup is empty now, and I think I'm going to make myself a cup of hot apple cider.  As I'm looking out my door, the sun has gone behind the clouds and it is raining again.  Yup, I think I need that hot apple cider.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Today Is For The Birds!

October 23, 2018

Good morning.  Tis overcast and 44F degrees, and we're expecting rain for most of today.  Pogo and I are staying in today, so that's okay.  We went to the bank yesterday, so today I'll pay some bills.

Yesterday, I mentioned that the whole driveway was filled with leaves.  I took a photo to show some of the leaves.

When Joe got home from work, he went outside and raked up most all the leaves.  This morning they are starting to cover the yard again.  Just not as bad as yesterday.

Folks, a few minutes ago, I looked up at my door and saw a small group of turkeys walking through my yard.  I grabbed my phone and ran out to the porch to take some photos, and oh my.  That small group turned into about twenty turkeys.   They headed right for the birdseed that the birds had spilled on to the ground.

Now that's the kind of excitement I like to see around here.  I love seeing the wild animals.  Pogo was upset because I made him stay indoors while I was outside taking these photos.  I didn't want him to scare the turkeys away.

Today, after I'm done with the bills, I think I'll give Pogo a bath before the temps go back down to freezing.  Which reminds me, I should have Joe check to see how much fuel oil we have in case I have to order some.

The mailman just came and brought my new social security card.  Woo Hoo!  Now I can go and get my Read ID license.  (driver license renewed)  Deanne and I were going to go do this today, but I realized that I needed this new card to bring with me.  If I'm late posting Thursday, you'll know that's what I'll be doing.

I'm a happy camper now, so off I go to get a fresh cup of coffee and read a few blogs.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

The Leaves Are Falling

October 22, 2018

Good morning.  Tis another wicked cool morning here in New England.  The wind must have been a bit brisky during the night because my driveway is almost totally covered with leaves.  The sun is shining and the temperature now is 27F degrees.  Brrrr!   Pogo and I are going out to do some errands, but we're waiting till noon when the temps will be up to at least forty degrees.

Well, last night I did it.  I called the Cabaret to reserve my table for next Saturday night.  Yup, I'm going one more time to see Gypsy.  It's an awesome show, and that will be the last night it is performed.  If you live in our area and you haven't seen the show yet, next weekend is your last chance.  Don't miss it.  These talented Starliners are simply awesome.

This week I will be renewing my drivers license.  Hopefully tomorrow.  Today I need to make sure I have all the necessary paperwork gathered and in one envelope.  There's always a long wait at the Registry, but hopefully by going early in the morning the wait won't be too bad.  So, tomorrow's post may be a bit late.

While going through a batch of old papers, I came across these relics from the past.

These were popular back in the 1940's and 1950's.  They were an early form of credit.  You could buy up a book of these and then use them as cash when you bought something.  I have some from W.T. Grant's store too, but I could not find them.  My mom shopped at Gilchrist, and I bought my first little "credit" book at Grant's.

I remember opening my first charge account at Kay Jewelers in Quincy square when I was fifteen.  I had a job, and Kay's had a little pink portable radio that I wanted.  I think my payments were something like fifty cents a month.  My dad taught me to pay it off a bit early and buy something else.  This way, I would be building up my credit.

When my kids were small, I used to do my food shopping that way.  I'd borrow four hundred dollars from the bank to be paid back in four monthly payments of $100 each.  Then I would shop for a whole month.  I have to say we ate very well, and there was always plenty of stuff left when the month ended.  Gosh, wouldn't it be nice if we could do this today?

Today I think I'll go through some of my clothes and put together another bag for the Big Brother, Big Sister organization.  I got a card saying that they will be in this area soon.  It's a great way to recycle a lot of still wearable clothing and small appliances, and it will help to de-clutter my place a bit.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading and finish my coffee.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Tis Nippy And Wet And Temps Are Dropping

October 21, 2018

Good morning.  We're back to nippy and wet again.  Ah well, it is Autumn.  Right now, the temperature is 41F degrees with a bit of rain.  Temps will be staying in the fifties and forties during the day all week, while the nights will be in the twenties and thirties.  I think it's too early for temps to be dipping into the twenties and low thirties, but Miss Autumn doesn't really care what I think.

Yesterday was a weird day for me.  I was tired all day and just could not seem to get out of my own way.  So, I napped on and off most of the day.  I felt better for it, but it did not make it easy for me to fall asleep last night.

Today I'm feeling lazy, but I think it's because of the weather.  I have been crocheting though, on the gray afghan.  It's looking really nice now.  I'm thinking ahead to my next big project.  I'd like to do something with the light yellow yarn that I bought.  Maybe an afghan for myself?

Friday afternoon I spent some time on my laptop making new quick pages.  It's very relaxing, so maybe I'll do a bit more of it later today.  As I sit here typing, I'm being serenaded by Pogo's soft snores next to me.  Unless you have a fur baby, you just can't imagine how wonderful this snore melody sounds.  It is soooo soothing.

Today I have a quick page for all the folks born in October.  Your birthstone is Opal.  Opals come in many different beautiful colors.  Enjoy.

I have no special plans for today.  I'll just see where it takes me.  I found this cute image on the web and just had to borrow it to share here.  It fits me to a T.

Yup, that's me.  As long as I can wear my jammies all day, I'm happy.  Tomorrow Pogo and I will go out to do some errands.  Maybe we'll stop by Ocean State Job Lot.  That will make Pogo very happy because that's his favorite store.  Folks there are beginning to know him by name.  My little guy is one very loved puppy!

Well, that's my news for today.  Now I'm going to do a bit of blog reading before I start looking for some mischief to get into today.  So, till  tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Woo Hoo! Those Red Sox Are Awesome!

October 19, 2018

Good morning.  Brrrrr!  At 8:45 this morning it was only 33F degrees.  It is now a little after nine o'clock and the temperature has gone up two degrees.  Oooooweee!  It is nippy!  By this afternoon, the temperature will have risen almost thirty degrees to around sixty degrees.

It will stay in the fifties overnight, then back up into the sixties for tomorrow.  I can shut the heat off later today and keep it off until tomorrow evening when it will drop back down into the thirties.  Wow, talk about crazy temps!

Oh my, did any of you stay up last night to watch the Boston Red Sox beat the Houston Astros?  We are off to the World Series.  Go Boston!  Did I ever mention that my ex-hubby (the kids' father) had a cousin who played for the Houston Astros?  This, of course, was many years ago and I don't remember the guy's name.

I really didn't do much last evening.  For some reason, I was tired.  This cooler weather seems to be using more of my breath than usual.  I just move a bit slower.  (Lord, if I go any slower I'll be crawling!)

Oh gosh, guess what I just found.  I looked up to the top shelf on one of my bookshelves and there it was!  The carry case and the Sprocket paper that I put away so good and couldn't find it.  Isn't that the way it always goes?  The lost items don't get found again until they have been replaced?  Well, the good news is that I found it.  Now I have lots of printer paper.

About three weeks ago, I stepped outside and noticed a beautiful big moon in the sky right over my driveway.  I grabbed my little Canon and went back out to take some photos.  Folks, this little camera is awesome.  I just put it on auto and shoot.  Here is my moon shot and a close up of one corner of it.

I love my big camera, but this little point and shoot is much lighter to carry and it takes awesome photos.  It's a Canon PowerShot  SX50 HS.  This little camera makes it so much fun to take photos.

Today I'm expecting an order from Amazon.  I purchased a folding basket for my walker.  Hopefully it will work out so that I can take my walker to Florida.  I need the basket though, so that Pogo has something to sit in.  The basket that I have now is perfect for him but it doesn't fold up so it would be difficult to take it on the plane.

Of course, this isn't written in stone yet.  I may still take the stroller instead.  It all depends on how much I have to carry and how I'm feeling when it is time to travel.  I can push the stroller with one hand and pull my luggage with the other.  I put my carry on in the stroller with Pogo.  I can't do this with the walker.  Hmmm, I have some thinking to do.

On this note, I'm going to leave and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Go Red Sox!

October 18, 2018

Good afternoon.  Today started off on the nippy side.  At eight o'clock this morning the temperature was 37F degrees and quite breezy.  (outside!)  I didn't want to come out from under my blanket but I had an early morning appointment at the Social Security Office.

Deanne came with me, thank goodness!  There is now a security check in at the door (like at the airport).  I had my oxygen on so now I'm getting a bit anxious.  However, I made it through.  Thank goodness I didn't have my pepper spray in my purse.  The guard might not have been too happy with me when my purse was being checked out.

My drivers license expires in a couple of weeks, and in order to renew it, I have to get the new Real ID license.  For that, I need all sorts of proof of who I am, including my social security card.  The problem is that I never changed the name on my card since 1960 when I married my kids' father.  (I confess, I've made that matrimonial walk more than once!)  Hence, my visit to the Social Security Office this morning.

My new card will come in the mail in about a week, then I can go to the Registry and renew my license.  Meanwhile, I'll be making sure that I have all the papers required to show that I'm really me and that I was born here.

When we came out of the Social Security Office, the temperature had risen to about forty degrees, and it really did feel quite nice.  The sun is shining and there's a perky little breeze, but it really does feel nice walking around outdoors.  Of course, I was wearing a jacket and after a little while, I got back into my nice warm car.

It's a good thing I took my car today.  Have you noticed that there are no broom parking spots in any of the parking lots?  Is this really fair?  Some days it would be a lot easier to just hop on my broom and zip off to the store or the bank and then home again.

Sadly, there's no where to park my broom when I get to where I'm going.  Hmmm, I'll have to ask some of my friends how they handle this problem.  I found this awesome image on the web and it proves that we certainly do know how to park and that we don't take up very much space.

In case anyone is interested in buying a HP Sprocket Printer, I printed a photo with my Sprocket this morning to give to my daughter Deanne.  I lightened the photo just a bit before printing it and it came out really nice.  This original photo was taken back in 1963 I think.  My daughter Kerri used to love looking into the (doll) carriage at her tiny baby sister Deanne.

Today is Kerri's oldest daughter's birthday.  Happy Birthday Brandy.  I hope your day is just awesome!  I love you.

Well, everyone was up late last night watching the Red Sox beat the Houston Astros.  What a game!  Just one more win will do it, so Go Red Sox!

I have a couple photos of my plants to share.  This first one is my Chrysanthemum plant.  The buds are all opening and the colors are gorgeous!

And this is my strawberry plant.  It didn't do much all summer other than to grow to this size.  Last night, I brought it into the house because temps were dipping to freezing.  I'm going to see if it will keep growing indoors and then maybe put it back outside next Spring.  We'll see.

On my way home today, I stopped by WalMart to get the new Shingles shot.  You have to get this one in two parts.  However, the pharmacy was all out.  They put me on a list and will call me when their supply comes in.  While I was there, I picked up a few groceries and a few things to put away for Christmas.  Plus one birthday gift.  Yup, it's been a good day!

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading before Joe gets home and Pogo wants to go out into the house to have his turkey treat.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Tis A Twelve Hour Heat Wave!

October 17, 2018

Good morning.  Tis sunny with a lively breeze today.  The temperature is 48F degrees, headed for sixty degrees later today.  Woo Hoo!  A regular heat wave!  We'd best enjoy it because tomorrow is going to be quite chilly with the night temps dropping to freezing.  I'm not ready for this !

When Pogo and I left the shuttle bus terminal Monday morning after seeing Audrey off, I got a photo of the sky.  It was just beautiful, filled with pinks and corals.

A couple months ago, I bought a HP Sprocket Printer from the shopping channel.  It was the daily special and I thought it would be a fun thing to have.

Before it got here, I ordered extra printing paper for it.  The paper is quite unusual because the ink is in the paper.  The photos are small, but can be such fun at a gathering or an event.  Well, the Sprocket arrived, and I tried it right away.  Sadly, the photos that came out of it were not so good.  They were dark and looked as though they had a film over them.

I could return it and get my money back from the shopping channel, but that was not what I wanted.   After several phone calls, over a few weeks, I finally got the Hewlett Packard company to agree to exchanging it for a new one.  I returned the one I had, and the new one finally got here this past week.  This one works much better.

I was able to print out small photos from our night at the Cabaret, and gave them to my girls.  Sadly, I set the carry case and the extra paper in a safe place, and now I can't find them.  What else is new?  So, I've ordered more paper from Amazon.  I'm sure the other paper will show up someday.

This week I'm going to post two new quick pages for today and for next Sunday.  The two extras are to make up for last week.  This page is just a bit of whimsy.  I like chickens and owls, and I like the colors.  Have fun with it.

This next page is part of my Halloween series for this year.  I hope it's spooky enough.  Cheers!

Now it's time to do a bit of blog reading before I wash the breakfast dishes.  I'm sure there's lots of fun mischief waiting for me to get into.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Tis A Wee Bit Chilly Here This Morning

October 16, 2018

Good morning.  It's a beautiful, crisp Autumn morning here in New England.  The temperature is 44F degrees, with hopes of getting up into the high fifties later this afternoon.  We had quite a bit of wind during the night, and this morning there are leaves everywhere in my yard.  There's still a bit of a breeze this morning, but nothing like the frisky winds during the night.

Audrey got home safely yesterday afternoon.  Pogo sat by the door and moped for a while, missing her.  To soothe his feelings, I ordered Pork Lo Mein and Pork Fried Rice for our supper last night.  Needless to say, he licked his plate clean.

Yesterday, I spent some time on my laptop making some new quick pages.  It seems strange, but I'm having to get used to this laptop all over again.  Just two weeks without it, but it seems a bit different and very slow.  It's coming on time when I'm going to have to splurge on a new laptop, but I'm going to hold off as long as I can.  I'm too busy to spend time learning a whole new system.

While Audrey was here, Deanne brought her two grandchildren, Aurora and Xander, over for a visit.  Aurora was a bit shy at first, but Xander fell in love with Pogo and had a great time playing with his auntie Audrey.   This is my youngest great grandson, Xander.  I love that red hair!

One day, we had to do a bit of grocery shopping.  One of the items we wanted was the Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches.  We found a whole display of them in an end cap (at WalMart) and put a box of them in the cart.  The box of eight sandwiches was only $4.88.  They are usually almost nine dollars, so I really should have got two boxes.

Because of the low price, Audrey took my phone and took a photo of the display case and the price at the top of it.  At the check out counter, the clerk started to ring the sandwiches up at the higher price.  I showed her the photo, and she called a supervisor over.  We got the lower price, but you better believe that someone emptied that end cap out in a very short time.

Wednesday night was another treat.  DIL Janet came by after work and we had Stouffer's mac and cheese for supper.  Yum!  Janet had brought a Mile High apple pie for our dessert.  It's called Mile High for a good reason.  It's very tall!  This is how it looked after we each had a slice.

Audrey and I did our best to polish it off, but we ended up sending a huge chunk of the pie out to Joe.  Needless to say, this pie was delish!  Janet had also brought a lemon Danish, a raspberry Danish and a lemon/raspberry Danish.  We talked her into taking one of them to work for her coworkers.  We shared the other two Danish with Joe and the rest of the dwarfs.

Pogo woke me up at three o'clock this morning because he was hungry, so we each had a plate of Pork Fried Rice and Pork Lo Mein.  Once our tummies were full, it was back to dreamland for both of us.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading before I get busy with some chores around here.  So, till  tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Gosh, My Week Just Flew By!

October 15, 2018

Good morning.  It's a gorgeous Fall morning, Audrey is on her way home and I miss her already.  This past week just flew by.  Pogo and I drove Audrey to the Airport Shuttle Bus this morning and watched her board it.  Then we came home.

Gosh, it is soooo quiet here!  Even Pogo is missing Audrey.  We'll just have to start counting the days till it's time to go to Florida.  Audrey will be joining us there.  And Beth too.  Yup, something super to look forward to.

This weekend, we all went to the Cabaret to see "Gypsy, The Musical."  Once again, the show was just awesome!  Picture and video taking wasn't allowed during the performance.  But we did get lots of fun photos of family and friends during intermission and after the show.  Here are a few of them.

This first photo is three of my granddaughters, Brandy, Jazzy and Mia.

This is all of us:  Left to right, Eddie, Brandy, Moi, Audrey, Mia and Deanne.

This one is me with Mia and Brandy.

After the show, I got a fun photo of Eddie with one of the performers.

And lastly, a photo of the proud papa with his daughter (Jazzy).

The show was packed that night.  The food was great and the company was awesome!  Hopefully, there will be a DVD for us to purchase afterwards, and hopefully the sound on it will be good.  If it is, I will definitely try to share bits of it here.

I just got my laptop back a few days ago, and I haven't even hooked it up yet.  Actually, I haven't been on my PC or online all week.  So, needless to say, I have lots to do today.  Besides setting up my laptop, I have files to update on it, emails to read, and lots of blog reading to catch up with.  And that's just computer stuff.  Ah, but it was all worth it.

Yesterday, Deanne, Audrey and I went to lunch together.  A treat from SIL Mac (Audrey's hubby).  Thank you, Mac.  Lunch was delicious!  Audrey and I had the Scallop plate, and Deanne had a Steak with cheese and mushrooms sub sandwich.  Awesome!

This afternoon, I want to work on a few new quick pages.  I will double up on posting them this week to make up for last week.  I also have a few phone calls to make.  I think I'll take my leave now and catch up on a bit of blog reading before I start everything else.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.
