Saying Farewell To July

July 31, 2017

Good morning. Do you realize that today is the last day of July?  Did this month really just fly by that quickly?  I think the older we get, the more we realize how quickly time goes by.  Some days, it seems that all the hours got shorter too.

Pogo and I got up early this morning and took Janice to work.  Then we stopped by the bank before heading home.  Wowee!  You should see the traffic out on the highway.  We took the highway home to avoid going through a long construction area  closer to home.  Hmmm, it might have been quicker to take the construction route.  The traffic was bumper to bumper and traveling about five to ten miles per hour.  I don't know how people drive in that traffic everyday on their way to work and home again.

This morning I'm waiting for the guy from the oxygen company to show up, and then Pogo and I will be off again to do a few errands.  It's really quite nice outside this morning, as long as you aren't sitting in heavy traffic.

Today I have some cute photos of my handsome little guy, Pogo.  Friday afternoon, we were on the porch and I was trying to color a greeting card.  Pogo, however, had different ideas on how I should spend my time.  In no time at all, he was lying on my lap, making sure that I could not color.  He wanted to be petted and played with.

While we were sitting out there, I took photos of all my little solar things that adorn the railing almost all the way around my porch.  Here's a photo showing some of them.

Well, the hawk from yesterday stayed on the top of that tree all day till almost dark.  He did leave a few times, I guess to pick up a snack or two, but he came right back to his perch on top of the tree.  At one point, there was a second hawk in another tree, but after squawking at each other for a short time, the second hawk left.  I haven't noticed our hawk yet today.

Now I think I should wash the dishes in the kitchen sink.  Hopefully that fellow from the oxygen company will be here soon.  If he doesn't show up this morning, I'm going to call and reschedule his appointment for another day.

On that happy note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Majestic Visitor

July 30, 2017

Good morning.  Tis a gorgeous sunny day here in my little part of the world, and there's a tiny breeze  keeping it quite comfy.  I'd have been here posting much earlier but Joe came by early to tell me that we have company high up in our trees.  So, of course, I grabbed my camera and went outside to take some photos.

High up in one of the tall trees in front of the house sat a huge hawk, just taking in all the sights and looking for his breakfast.  Here's a photo I took to show how high up this bird is.  I put in an arrow to show you where the bird is sitting, and then I enlarged that area to make it easier to see the bird.

It really is quite a majestic looking hawk.  Sitting way up there gives him a super view of all small critters that might make a tasty meal.  Here are a few more shots of our guest.

It must have had something specific in mind for breakfast, because several small birds were able to fly by unharmed.  Nearby, a tiny sparrow sits on a the edge of one of our roofs and calls out a warning to his family and friends.  Such a brave little bird.

Up high in another tree, sits a very brave young blue jay trying to alert his family to the nearby danger.  I've placed an inset in the photo so that you can see this little blue jay better.  These are very brave little birds.

I just looked outside to see if our guest hawk was still here, but he must have found a meal because he is gone.  At least now we can feed our little birds.  For obvious reasons, we don't put out any food for the birds while the hawk is here.

Friday, I meant to post a kit for you, but I forgot.  So, I'll post it here today.  This is an old kit that I had made five years ago as part of a collaboration.  This is just my part of the kit.  I hope you can use it.

I'm not sure what Pogo and I will be up to today, but maybe I'll go grocery shopping this afternoon.  I haven't decided yet. although I probably should get it done.  This is going to be a busy week.  The company that supplies my oxygen concentrator is coming out tomorrow with a portable machine that they say will make me happy.  That remains to be seen.

Also this week, the contractors will be here, along with a police detail, to resurface the end of my driveway.  In between all this activity, I need to get back to my "clean out" project.  Well, I've finished my coffee, and now it's time to get busy around here.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

I Love A Good Coupon!

July 28, 2017

Good morning.  Goodness, what a beautiful day it is looking to be outside my door.  The sun is shining, there's a tiny breeze and temps are working their way up to the low eighties.  This definitely feels like a porch day.

Well, I finished the second doll underslip, only to find that one slip needs to be shortened.  That's not so bad, I suppose.  It means that I need to take off the last two rows, then put the last row back on.  I still have to finish the bodice on one dress.  I think once these dolls are totally finished, I probably won't be making very many more of them.  They're a lot of work, and take a long time to make.

Last night, I went online to order some tiny doll dress hangers so that I can hang these dresses that I'm making.  I find that placing them into the protective plastic covers tends to flatten out the ruffles.  I'm hoping that hanging will help to keep the ruffles nice.  We'll see.

Yesterday's email brought me a 30% off coupon for a blog book, so that's how I spent part of my evening last night.   I had already picked out the cover photos, so it really did not take very long to put my book together.  These are the photos I chose for this volume.

Last night, I had to order more doggie food for Pogo.  For some reason, I thought I had ordered it a few days ago, and I've been waiting for it to arrive but it hasn't come.  After going online and checking my previous orders on Amazon, I discovered that I really had not placed the order.  No wonder it hasn't arrived yet!

Have any of you tried coloring in the new adult coloring books?  Gosh, I hope so.  It is so relaxing, and actually good for your health.  (in a restful way)  My friend Beth sent me a page that she had just finished, along with the original page.  Wow Beth, this is beautiful!  Here's the blank page, followed by Beth's finished work of art.

I haven't done much in my coloring book, but I am working on coloring a set of all occasion greeting cards.  They are not as intensive as the pages in the book, but they do take quite a bit of concentration.  Staying inside the lines is the hardest.  Gosh, who'd have thunk it!!

One of these days, I will have to go grocery shopping.  I've already started my list.  I think I'll clean out the freezer too.  Sometimes things that are in the back, behind other things, get forgotten.  Once they are in there too long, I don't think they are safe to be eaten.  Besides, I really should take inventory of what is in the freezer.

Well, that sounds like a good project for today.  Not one that I'm relishing, but a necessary one.  Another project that I want to start soon is picking out the photos for my next calendar.  I'd really like to be able to have the calendars finished and printed before I start packaging up my holiday boxes.

Now I want to finish my coffee and take my nebulizer meds.  While I'm doing that, I can catch up on my morning blog reading.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Welcome, Baby Xander

July 27, 2017

Good morning.  Tis a bit on the cloudy side right now with temps reaching up towards the 70's.  The sun is doing it's best to peek out every now and then, and there's a really nice breeze.  It seems like the weather just isn't sure what it should be doing lately.  We go from toasty 80's and 90's to chilly 60's and then back again.  Hmm, do you suppose Mother Nature is struggling with menopause?

Well, yesterday was quite the day!  It started off by introducing my newest great grandson, Xander Thane who weighed in at 7 pounds, nice ounces, and was 19 inches long.  My goodness, what at a beautiful baby!    Congratulations to Bobby and Amber, and to Grandma Deanne and Grandpa Eddie.

Here is Xander with his Daddy, (Bobby).  Look at that face!  He's actually looking up and smiling at his Daddy.

Of interest...a friend looked up Xander's middle name "Thane."  It's an important title in medieval Scotland, kind of equal to the son of an earl.  Well, that's rather appropriate because we really do have ancestors of sorts living in a castle in Scotland.  I guess it's time to look up a bit more of our family history.

Right after I got all this wonderful news, it was time for Pogo and me to leave for our appointment at the car dealership.  Well, we got there and signed all the work papers and settled in to wait for everything to be done when the service lady approached me.  She said that my registration was expired, and that it had actually expired last summer.  What?????  Oh no!!

Come to find out, my registration had not expired, but the paper registration that I leave in the glove box (in the car) was missing.  Without it I could not get a new sticker.  So Pogo and I had to leave and go to the Registry of Motor Vehicles and get a new copy of my registration.  $25 and a little while later, we were back to the dealership.

While we were sitting in the waiting area, Pogo and I struck up a conversation with another lady who was also waiting for her car to be serviced.  I have to tell you, Pogo outdid himself.  After sniffing every inch of the lady's purse, he stood up on his hind legs, put his front paws on her chest and asked to be petted.  After she petted him for a while, he would come to me for more petting, then back to the other lady.  It was just so comical!

On the way home, Pogo and I stopped at McDonalds for some takeout lunch and then headed for the park.  Pogo gobbled up his whole double hamburger, along with some water.  My little guy was really hungry!  The view at the park was just beautiful.  I did not have my camera with me, so I used my phone to take a photo of one of the swan families.

We were parked across the street from the pond, so this photo didn't turn out so bad.  In the background, you can make out a family of baby geese.  We'll have to go back another day and bring my camera.

DIL Janet came by later after work, and we had supper and a really nice visit.  She worked on that gorgeous afghan and I worked on the second dolly underslip.  I'm on the "ruffle" rows, and they take forever!

I think today will be a rest and relax day.  After I wash the dishes, of course!  haha.  Well, that's my news for today.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantubulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

"Madame Fixit"

July 26, 2017

Good morning.  It's looking really beautiful outside but it is still rather cool.  Not quite up to sixty degrees yet.  Later, though, temps should reach up into the upper seventies.  Now that is going to feel really nice.

This morning, Pogo and I have to take the car to the dealership to get a new sticker.  After that, we'll have to stop by Best Buy on the way home and buy us a new television set.  This morning the sound died on my TV.  Mind you, it still has a beautiful picture on it, but I'm having trouble trying to lip read what everyone is saying.

I just found a button on my remote that says "system refresh" so I clicked on it.  At this point, I can't really do much damage, can I?  (With me, you never know!)  Something tells me that I may have touched a button on the remote that I shouldn't have touched and that's why there is no sound.

Of course, I could be wrong.  If that doesn't work, I could always call the cable company and ask one of their techs how to fix the voice.  We'll see.  It all depends on how much time I have.

OH MY GOSH!!!  Would you believe?  I now have voice on my TV!!!!!  Now if only I can remember where that "system refresh" button was!  (for future reference) hahaha  Oh my, I feel so much better now!

Grandpa Mac (Audrey's hubby) finished painting the Minion in Alena's room.  Here's a photo of the finished artwork.

The finished room is starting to come together now.  It just needs the new owl curtains made and hung in the window.  Here's a peek at how it looks with the new bed set up by the "Hoo Tree."

Alena is due back from her vacation with her other grandma this weekend.  Can you imagine how surprised and happy she is going to be with her new bedroom?  This is one little girl who is going to be so excited to go to bed each night!  She'll be drifting off to sleep with her beloved Hoos and Minions watching over her.  Sweet dreams, Alena.

Well, now it's time for me to take my nebulizer meds and get dressed so that we are not late for our appointment this morning.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day!

Hugs, Edna B.

Another Cool And Damp Day

July 25, 2017

Good morning.  Tis wet and gray again today with rather cool temps.  Things should be drying up and getting warmer by tomorrow though.   Gosh, I hope so.  It was too damp and cold to spend any time out on the porch yesterday, and today is also not a porch day.

Early this morning, I finally finished the skirt on the doll dress I've been working on.  Now I have to finish the top.  Then I'll start the second underslip.  When both dolls are finished, I think I'll make a couple of air freshener dolls.

I have the most fun picture (that I borrowed from the web) to share with you.  As soon as I saw this, I thought of my daughter Audrey.  She loves chickens, and hopes to have some of her own soon.

Speaking of Audrey, here's a photo of her and Alena having a fun day at an animal park.  Goodness, what beautiful smiles!  The children grow so fast, Audrey.  Enjoy her.

Today I think I'll work on my "clean out" project for a while, then I'm going to take a nap.  I woke up this morning at 3:30 and decided to stay up so that I would not oversleep.  Pogo and I needed to be out of the house by 8:15 to take Janice to work.  It's good getting up early though, because I seem to get more things done.  Hmmm, that sounds strange!

Well, I just called to make an appointment for tomorrow morning to take my car in for a new sticker.  My current sticker runs out next Monday.  Right now, Pogo is trying to decide whether or not to eat his doggie food.  He gives it a sniff, then looks my way to see if I'm watching.  Of course, I ignore him so he decides to eat some of it.  It's just one of his cute little games.

Well, that's my news for this morning.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Where Has All This Energy Come From?

July 24, 2017

Good morning.  Today is gray and wet.  Not complaining though.  We do need the rain, although I was hoping it would hold off until this afternoon.  I may have company for lunch and I was hoping to have our lunch out on the porch.  Ah well, no biggie.

This morning, Pogo and I went out early to take Janice to work, and then we stopped by the Post Office to mail a box.  Yesterday, Janice and I packed up all the hat and scarf sets and got them ready for mailing.  Now they are on their way to the Indian School.  When I finish my dolls, I'll most likely make a few more hat and scarf sets.  Here are photos of the last two sets I finished.  The CafĂ© Latte and the Scarlet.

The weather was simply perfect yesterday, so Joe cleaned his truck and my car.  Wow, they sparkle now.  Thank you so much Joe.  Here he is finishing up my car.  Gosh, it looks brand new!

While Janice was here, she vacuumed the carpet and did a bit of dusting and cleaning for me.  She's a peach, and I so appreciate all her help.  I was looking through a book of sayings that I have, and the idea for my new Christmas card came right to mind.  I spent a little while on my laptop, and now my card is finished.  I'd love to share it here but that would spoil the fun at Christmas.

In the afternoon, I spent a little while on my "clean out" project.  Later, I made a batch of macaroni salad for today.  In between all this, I did three loads of laundry.  Phew!  Is it any wonder why I fell asleep early last night?

This morning, I made up a bowl of tuna salad and put it in the fridge to get cold.  After that, I started my new grocery shopping list.  It's getting scary, all this new found energy!  I guess I can say now
that I'm finally back on my feet as long as my breathing is okay. (and my feet aren't swollen)  This is good.  It's been a long haul this time.

Well, I guess that's all my news for this morning.  Now I want to do a bit of blog reading before I start in on any chores.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Weekend For Tears

July 23, 2017

Good morning.  Oh, what a beautiful day we have!!  The sun is shining, there's a wonderful breeze and temps will stay in the seventies today.  Woo Hoo!  It's simply a perfectly beautiful day!

I realized Friday, after I had posted here, that I forgot to name the child in the photo.  That is my daughter Deanne.  When the other children wanted something, they would send Deanne to us to ask for it.  She was rarely ever refused.  I mean, how could you look at that little face and not give her what she was asking for???  Children are very smart!

Well, I finally finished that underslip that I've been working on for one of the dolls.  I was determined the other night, and would not quit until it was done.  Now I have to make one more for the other doll.

Pogo and I went out yesterday to do a few errands, which included stopping in at JoAnn's Fabric shop.  I needed one more skein of a particular color to finish the second doll dress.  Guess what?  They did not have what I needed.  In fact, they didn't have anything that I might be able to use for either doll project.

I did find a piece of fabric that I just could not pass by.   What adorable dresses it would make!  Well, I don't have a sewing machine set up yet, but Audrey does.  So I bought enough to make a dress for Alena and I'll send the material to Audrey.  Isn't this adorable?

Over the weekend, Audrey's hubby, Mac, has been busy painting Minions on the back of a door in Alena's room.  Minions is another of Alena's favorite things.  Actually, I think we all love minions.  Here's a photo of Mac working on the door.  I can't wait to see it when it is finished!

Sad to say, the rest of my news from the last couple of days is not so good.  Late Friday afternoon, Kevin and a couple of friends were in the car headed for their baseball game when a woman in a car came out from a bank parking lot and smashed into them.  The car was hit so badly it was smashed into a utility pole.  And totaled.  One kid needed treatment for cuts from glass, one had to be checked because of possible head injuries and Kevin appeared to be okay.  He went to the hospital yesterday to be checked and so far he is alright.

Late yesterday, one of the kids that was in the car with Kevin was out in a car with his girl friend and his grandparents.  They were involved in a horrible car accident.  I don't have the particulars yet on how it all happened.  Everyone was taken to the hospital with injuries.  The Grandmother was hurt the worst, and died a few hours later.  I lit a candle and put it in the window for her soul.

Now it's time to take my Nebulizer meds and get started on this new day.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Very Productive Day Shopping

July 21, 2017

Good morning.  It's beautiful outside but it is going to be another really warm day.  Pogo and I will stay indoors most of today.  I'll put the A/C on and go back to my "clean out project" for a while.  Well, at least that's the plan.

Another project for today is to call a few shredding companies to get prices and see which ones come right to the house.  I've already looked up a few companies and their phone numbers.  If they are not too expensive, maybe Deanne can use the same service too to cut down on the amount of shredding that she has to do.

Speaking of Deanne, after she picked up Janice from work yesterday afternoon,  they  came by to get me and we went shopping/browsing at a friend's gun shop.  Oh my, so many choices.    I tried handling a few guns first to see how they fit my hand and how heavy they were.  Finally, I found one that felt right for me.  Next was Deanne's turn to try out a few.  The very last one she tried turned out to be just right for her.

Next came the paperwork.  Oh my goodness, it looked like we were signing away our first borns.  But it actually wasn't as bad as it looked.  Both our background checks were okay, so we got to bring our new purchases home with us.

We also both bought (I forget the name of them) plastic practice bullets.  You use them to learn how to load them and shoot them properly, and they are reusable.  This way no one gets hurt.  We'll be picking a date soon for more practice time at the range and a class on how to clean our new weapons.

While going through some old photos, I came across this photo.  It's a photo of a photo that was printed on paper with black ink.  But it is still adorable.  Now who ever would have thought that this little darling would grow up to be such an awesome person!

Actually, all my children turned out to be awesome people.  I'm so very proud of them, and I'm most certainly very blessed.  I believe that every parent should be able to feel this way about their children.

Recently, I found another treat for moi (of course!) on the Jewelry TV Channel.  Did you know that Quartz comes in several colors (most likely with radiation, but not positive).  Amethyst and Citrine are the most famous quartz gems, but another beautiful color is the pink quartz.  Here's a pretty ring with pink quartz surrounded by sixteen tiny white diamonds.  It kept saying "You need me.  You need me."  So I bought it.

Most all my jewelry is set in sterling silver because that is my favorite.  This ring is not very expensive, but it brings a big smile to my face whenever I look at my hand.  Like Pogo says, "when mommy is happy, everyone is happy."  He encourages me to buy pretty things.  He's also trying to encourage me to dump the dog food and get back to cooking him steaks and hamburgers.  Maybe tonight, Pogo.  Maybe tonight I'll cook you a juicy hamburger for supper.

On that happy note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Up And Out Early

July 20, 2017

Good morning.  Well Pogo and I got up early and took Janice to work.  We couldn't go to JoAnn's Fabric store because they were not open yet, so we went to Ocean State Job Lot instead and bought bird seed.  We even got an extra bag for Deanne's birds.

Pogo found a few cute things to put away for Christmas for his little friends, and I bought a few things for the house.  All in all it was a good shopping trip.  We got home just in time before the heat became too oppressive.

While we were at the store, I watched a guy get out of his car and go into the store to shop, leaving his dog in the car.  This makes me nervous so I stayed outside the store and kept watch to make sure the dog was alright and to see if the guy would come right back.  He did not.  I finally asked a person going into the store to ask the clerk or manager to call the police before it was too late for the dog.  It had already been fifteen minutes.

Finally a clerk came out to get the license plate number of the car, and he went in and paged the customer.  After a total of twenty two minutes, the guy came out and got into his car.  It was hot and he had to open all the windows.  I wonder what made this jerk think that his dog was comfortable all that time in a very hot car!!!!!  Next time, I just might call the police myself.  This is just not right!

Yesterday, several packages arrived containing some craft items that I had ordered, including a couple of stand up dolls.  This is good because now I can try the dress on the doll to see what adjustments I need to make.  Hopefully, not too many.

I'll tell you one thing.  The ruffles on  the underslip take forever to do.  I spent  an hour on the first ruffle and did not make it all the way around the row.  Time to put this down and give my eyes a rest.  Here's a photo of the slip ruffles that I'm working on.  The ruffle stitches are trebles.

A week or so ago, Joe came home from work all excited about something he had made there.  A co-worker had showed him how to make the game "Yardzee."  It's the same as "Yahtzee" but the dice are made of wood and are bigger so that you can play it in the yard.  I mentioned that Deanne loved playing "Yahtzee" so yesterday he came home with another set that he made for her.  She's going to love these.  Joe, thank you so much.

Today, Janice gave me a bowl of stuffed shells that she and Jazzy made last night.  Seeing as how I did not have breakfast this morning, I ate these shells for brunch.  Oh my, delicious!!  I have to say I love being spoiled this way.

After work this afternoon, Deanne will be picking me up and we are going shopping (or just browsing) at the gun shop.  Hopefully we'll find something we like and can start back to practicing at the range again soon.  I'll have to look into the gun cleaning class.  We really should know how to take care of our weapons.

Well, that's about all my news for this morning.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Mini Heat Wave Is Upon Us

July 19, 2017

Good morning.  Goodness, I had me a burst of energy this morning and I put it to good use.  By 9 a.m., I had finished my coffee, fed Pogo, got dressed, went shopping, came home and put everything away.

I had hoped to find a skein of yarn that I need and maybe some matching ribbon but Walmart just doesn't re-stock things when they run out.  The craft department is deplorable and sadly lacking in merchandise.  Needless to says, I did not get my yarn and ribbon, so I settled for picking up a few groceries that I needed.

Today's temps will be in the 90's and stay there for a while.  I think we might start getting a bit of relief from the heat by Saturday or Sunday.  No problem, Pogo and I are quite comfy.  We have the A/C and a ceiling fan to keep us cool.

Speaking of Pogo, here's a photo I just took of my handsome little guy chillin' out.  He's on the sofa next to me, just waiting for me to finish what I'm doing so that I can play with him.

Last night I discovered that the yarn I was going to be adding next to the doll dress was a bit too thick to use.  I like Red Heart yarns, but some of their colors are not the same thickness as the rest of the colors.  I don't know why this is, and it becomes quite annoying when you are trying to finish a project.

I couldn't go any further on the dress, so I started the under slip.  I may as well make the under slip for the other doll too while I have the white yarn out.  Tomorrow Pogo and I have to go out early to take Janice to work so maybe we can swing by JoAnn's (if they are open) to see if they have the yarn and ribbon that I need.  If not, there's always the internet.

I dug into my archives to find this quick page for you.  It's from four years ago, and I used Kyra's kit "From Heaven."

Joe has been keeping me updated with photos of the baby swans at our park.  They are getting so big now.

Now I think I'll relax and do a bit of crocheting for a while.  When I get my next burst of energy, I'll see about attacking my "clean out" project.  Hmmm, I'll have to think about that!

So, till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day.

Oh My, Watermelon Is So Delicious!

July 18, 2017

Good morning.  It's lovely outside, but it is going to be getting warmer and sticky soon.  It looks like it will keep getting a bit warmer and sticky for the next few days.  Pogo and I will be spending lots of time indoors, except for Thursday when we have to take Janice to work in the morning.  We'll probably stop and buy bird food (depends on the heat) and then come right home.

Well, the boxes have started coming in.  Yesterday afternoon, the baby car seat that I had ordered arrived.  After work, Deanne came by to pick that up and the baby snuzzler (it had arrived over the weekend).  She also brought me another bowl of something good to eat.  I promptly put that in the fridge and would have it for supper.

After checking through my own yarn supply, I found a couple of yarn colors that will work on the dolls that I am making.  So now if I don't make it to JoAnn's store this week, it's okay.   Guess what I did for the rest of the afternoon and evening.  Yup, I crocheted.  I have to say, I'm not happy working with such a small sized crochet hook.  It was fun when I was younger, but it's not fun anymore.  But I'll hang in there.

As I look out the door, I'm noticing how scraggly my pansy hanging plant is becoming.  I think I'll have to trim it back today and hope that it thickens up again.  On the other hand, the Dahlia's that Janice planted in the pots for me are doing rather well.  They're even bigger now than they are in this photo that I took last week.

My friend Rhoda sent a rather cute story that I will share with you.   It's called "Sex After Death".  A couple made a deal that whoever died first would come back and inform the other of the sex after death.  Their biggest fear was that there was no after life at all.  After a long life together, the husband was the first to die.  True to his word, he made the first contact:

"Marion....Marion"

"Is that you, Bob?"

"Yes, I've come back like we agreed."

"That's wonderful!  What's it like?"

"Well, I get up in the morning, I have sex.  I have breakfast and then it's off to the golf course.  I have sex again, bathe in the warm sun and then have sex a couple more times.  Then I have lunch (you'd be proud - lots of greens).

Another romp around the golf course, then pretty much have sex the rest of the afternoon.  After supper, it's back to the golf course again.  Then it's more sex until late at night.  I catch some much needed sleep and then the next day it starts all over again."

"Oh, Bob are you in Heaven?"

"No...............I'm a rabbit in Arizona."

Well, now that I've had some fun with you, it's time to finish my morning meds and then there's some dishes in the sink waiting to be washed.  By the way, remember the bowl of food that Deanne brought?  Well I had it for supper.  It was a big bowl of watermelon, all cut up and ready to eat.  I ate the whole bowl full, and then had some butter cookies for dessert.  Tasty, tasty, tasty!

On that happy note, I'll  take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

An Early Start To Our Day

July 17, 2017

Good morning (for fifteen more minutes).  Pogo and I have had a very busy morning, and now we are in for the rest of the day.  It's good we had to go out early because it is becoming quite warm now.

This morning, we picked up Janice and took her to work.  Lucky for us, there is a Dollar Store and a Michael's Craft Store right next to the store (Five Below Store) where Janice works.  Naturally, Pogo and I had to check out each of these stores in case they had something that we needed.

I managed to pick up just one word find puzzle book.  Sad to say, there was only one of these or I'd have bought more.  I also found a couple plastic storage covered bowls that I've been needing.  At the book counter of one of these stores, I found four perfect gifts to be put away for Christmas.

The only thing I could not get today was some doll making supplies that I need.  We have to go out early again on Thursday morning, so I think we'll check out JoAnn's Fabric Store to see if they have any of these supplies.  If not, I'll have to resort to the internet.

I've been working on a couple of dolls, and was hoping to find a couple things that I need.  I used to make these dolls many years ago, but it seems that folks aren't making many of them anymore.  I don't understand why.  They are really beautiful.

Today, I have a wonderful photo that Deanne sent to me.  It's part of a photo of her and Kevin at a friend's party.  The only time they are the same height is when Kevin is sitting.  haha.  Thanks, Deanne, this is a super photo.

I took another photo of my Donald Chia plant, but it seems it's having a problem growing anything on top of his head.  I'll wait a few more days, and then maybe I'll scrape off the old seeds and plant some new ones.

Great granddaughter Alena is away visiting her other grandmother and great grandmother, so Mom (Andi) and Audrey (grandma) have been busy re-doing Alena's bedroom.  Alena picked out the colors, purple and green.  By now, the walls and trim have been painted, and yesterday Andi painted a "Hoo tree" on the wall.  Alena loves and collects owls (she calls them hoo's).  Here's a photo of the wall after Andi finished the tree.  Isn't this neat?  Great job, Andi.

Next, Audrey will be putting a brand new twin size bed in the room to replace the toddler bed.  Then they will make some Hoo curtains for the window.  Alena is going to love her new room when she gets back from her vacation.

Now it's time to rustle up a bit of lunch for Pogo and me.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

A Fun Surprise!

July 16, 2017

Good morning.  It's looking quite nice outside my door.  The sun is shining and there is a slight breeze.  The temperature is still in the seventies (at least for a couple more hours) so it is quite comfy.  Pogo and I are just waiting for Joe to wake up so that Pogo can go out in to the house and have his turkey treat.

After that, my day is open to whatever we feel like doing.  Yesterday, I went poking through some old craft projects and found a pillow doll that I had started but never finished.  I brought it out and spent the afternoon and evening finishing the dress portion.

Next I have to make the pillow base, as soon as I can figure out how to do it.  I did not find the pattern that I used for the dress, so I just sort of guessed at how to finish it.  Most all of the doll patterns have a pattern for a pillow base, so I guess I'll try to use one of those patterns.  If all of this turns out good, I think I'll try making another doll.

Deanne sent me a fun photo of some new lights that Kevin bought for his car.  Wow, how neat!  We used to call these disco lights.  They were such fun for us.  Enjoy them Kevin!!  They look awesome.

Remember last Fall I was wondering how to "over winter" some potted plants?  With a little research on Google, I found a way to do this and buried four potted plants beneath layers of mulch till Spring.  Once the plants were dug out, it looked like three of them made it through the winter.  Since then, only one plant has actually survived.  I don't remember the name of it, but it is pretty.

Now for a fun story.  Friday afternoon, Deanne and Janice came by with some groceries for me.  And Janice had a surprise for me.  It's an inflatable hassock.  Plus, she bought a really pretty cover for it that matches the rug on the porch.  The hassock is so that I have a way to put my feet up when I'm sitting out on the porch.  It works pretty good in my living room too!!  I love it.  Thank you so much, Janice.

I finally set a date with the construction company to fix the end of the driveway.  So unless something comes up or the weather interferes, they should be here the morning of August 3.  It would be nice to re-do the whole parking area, but the cost for all of that is a bit staggering.

I think I may look into one of those shredding companies that come out to your home and do the shredding right there where you can watch.  It would certainly save me tons of work instead of trying to get my personal information off every piece of paper myself.  Well, it's an idea worth looking into to.

Lately I've been putting tiny pieces of deli ham on top of Pogo's doggie food to get him to eat the food.  Most of the time it has worked pretty well.  So last night I gave him a special treat.  I cooked up some expensive pieces of steak for our supper.  Oh my, yummy!  Pogo licked his plate clean and came back asking for seconds.  I gave him another plate of steak even though I knew he only wanted it so that he could have it later in the night when he got hungry again.  Of course, I ended up putting the plate in the fridge until his majesty asked for it close to midnight.  While he enjoyed his midnight meal, I had some peach yogurt.  Mmmm!

Now I think it's time for me to start getting busy around here.  So. till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day.

A Fun Way To Travel

July 14, 2017

Good morning.  Well, it's looking quite gray outside, and today's temps should be in the seventies.  It will be hot again soon, so this is a nice change for a while.  It's also a bit damp, so Pogo and I only sit out on the porch for a short while before coming back inside.  The fresh air is nice but we don't want to be catching any colds.

Well, yesterday wasn't a day for big achievements here.  I did wash and dry all of Pogo's blankets, but that's about it.  Today I'll have to exert a little bit more energy.  The "clean out" project is waiting patiently for me to get back to it.

Last evening, I finished the scarlet hat and scarf set.  I'll take photos later today.  I also finished the Peacock blue baby blanket, and almost finished the red, white and blue afghan.  I think I'll try to do two or three more rows on the afghan before calling it finished.  After that, I really should get busy and finish the blue afghan.  It shouldn't take too long because it is already half done.

While I was uncovering old treasures the other day, I came across my very first stethoscope.  It was purple and I was quite proud of it.  Daughter Deanne will remember this too.  We both got ours at the same time.  We don't use them anymore, but they bring up some wonderful memories.

Do any of you get the AARP newspaper every month?  This last issue had some really interesting articles, and one that I thought was very interesting indeed.  These teardrop campers first appeared in the 1930's and began fading in popularity in the 1960's when folks wanted the RV.  Click on the photo to make it larger.

According to the article, older folks are trying to simplify and scale back.  The typical buyer is a couple of years away from retirement, and often has roots in camping.  These trailers range in price from $500 for a build-it-yourself kit to $20,000 for a fully loaded luxury unit with air-conditioning and an entertainment center.  Sound interesting?  You know, if I could learn to get rid of a lot of things (most everything) this could be great for Pogo and me.  Hmmmm.

My friend Rhoda sent me a most entertaining video.  It's called "Jazz For Cows" and you really should check it out.  It's absolutely heartwarming.  I loved it.  Thank you, Rhoda.  Here's the link:

That's about it for my news this morning.  Now I think I'll attack the dishes in the kitchen sink.  After that, I want to finish up that red, white and blue afghan.  First, let me share something cute that I borrowed from  the web.  We all know someone like this who needs a hug. Right?  haha.

I'm off now.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

A Welcome Cool Down

July 13, 2017

Good morning.  Tis gray and a bit cool outside, but it sure does feel nice.  It rained a bit last night, not too much I think.  Yesterday though, it poured!  There was lots of thunder rolling around up in the sky and then all of a sudden the rains came.  Boy oh boy, did they ever!

After a while, the sun came out, and then the rain started up again while the sun was shining.  Pretty!  This time, the rain didn't last too long.  Later, a little after 9 p.m. I noticed it was raining again.

This morning, the weather person on TV was saying that we would be having unhealthy hot and humid temps today, but I guess he really didn't mean us.  Our temps are supposed to be cool and damp.  (and they are)

Speaking of my TV, when it started rebooting again the other morning, it worked itself out in a short time.  Phew!  Scared me for a while there!  It's been fine since then.  Except.....this morning most of the buttons on the remote don't work.  After playing around with the remote for about a half hour, I finally figured out how to change the station.    I tell you, this TV is going to drive me nuts!

Well, a couple of packages have already arrived.  One of the magazines that I ordered and the cleaning cloths for the car and the truck came in.  I'll have to keep a watch for the delivery trucks the next few days

Yesterday, DIL Janet came by after work.  I'd been hobbling around on my fat, sore feet all day and I didn't feel like cooking so we ordered pizza for our supper.  This made Pogo very happy.  I cut up a half slice on a plate for him, and it didn't take long for him to eat most all of it.  My pizza had green peppers on it, but Pogo enjoyed it anyway.

I've been wanting to get my hair cut for quite some time now, so last night I handed a pair of scissors to Janet and asked her to cut it for me.  She did, and my head already feels better.  (Looks better, too!)  One of these days, I'll take a photo to share here.

Here's a photo of some of our yellow lilies that opened up a couple of days ago.  Such a burst of happy color to look out at.

I also have a new photo of my handsome little guy.  Last night, for some reason, he was willing to look up at me while I was trying to take a photo of him.  Hmmm, must have been all that pizza!

That long gray ear in the upper corner of Pogo's photo belongs to his big gray bunny that sits on the arm of his chair.  Pogo doesn't play with his bunny, but he likes having him close by.  Wow, can you believe?  I've had Pogo with me for five years.  Where has all the time gone?  Needless to say, I'm hoping for lots more years with this awesome little guy.

Well, today I'm not making any plans.  I'll just take things one at a time.  What will be, will be.  I think for starters, Pogo and I will sit out on the porch for a while.  After that, maybe I'll work a bit on my "project clean out" room.

On that happy note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Just Shopping Away Here!

July 12, 2017

Good morning.  It's quite nice outside right now.  I think Pogo and I will sit out on the porch for a while this morning and enjoy this beautiful day.  I'm sure it will get a bit warmer later and we'll be having to stay indoors then.

Yesterday, I finally made it to the store and did quite a bit of grocery shopping.  Oh yeah, I overdid it.  I could barely walk by the time I got home and finished bringing all the groceries into the house and put away.  After that, I did very little except for making supper for Pogo and me.

Well, I actually did do quite a bit more, but I did it from my recliner.  Amazon is having Prime Deals and I managed to get quite a few of them.  I ordered a new baby car seat for the new great grandson who is due sometime this month.  I also ordered a new baby "Snuzzler" to put into the car seat.  This helps to keep Baby comfy and safe in his seat.

I ordered waterless car wash cloths for Joe's truck and my car.  (He's going to do my car, so I got him a set of cloths for his truck)  Next, I ordered a birthday gift and a few Christmas gifts.  Was I having fun?  Yes'm, I certainly was!!!  Now as long as I wrap all these things as soon as they come in, I'll be in great shape next November when it's time to start getting boxes ready for Holiday mailing.

In amongst the old photos that I dug up the other day, were some that I had printed on to paper.  I used a couple of them to make a quick page of my brother and I as teenagers.  I used a quick page that I had posted a couple of years ago.

For those of you who don't have this quick page and would like it, here is the download link.  If you have a problem with it, please let me know and I'll re-do the link.

Expired

I was reading through a magazine the other day and I came across this ad for a Halloween decoration.  Can you imagine?  Halloween already??  I realize it's good to advertise early, but I really think this could have waited until at least August.  What do you think?

While I was shopping yesterday, I lost my list somewhere along the way.  So, naturally, I forgot a few things.  Joe says he will go the store after work today and pick up whatever I may have forgotten, plus he'll pick up more water for me.  Tomorrow, Deanne will pick up a couple more things for me while she is shopping, and Pogo and I will be all set for the next two or three weeks.  (Yes, I know how super lucky I am!)

Well, I've finished my nebulizer meds, so I think it's a good time to head for the porch.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day.

Hugs, Edna B.
