Temps Are Cooling Down

September 19, 2021

Good morning.  Today will be sunny with temps in the sixties.  Yup, temps are definitely getting cooler.  It feels good, and it would be nice to stay this way year round, but that is not to be.  Leaves are beginning to change colors and some are falling to the ground.

There's not a lot on TV on Sunday mornings, so I start out watching PBS.  They have creative programs on beading, metal jewelry, sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, etc.  These are all very interesting.  I don't have to be doing all these different crafts.  It's the learning that is the fun.

Today on the sewing program, author Jennifer Chiaverini was featured with her book "Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker."  It sounds like such an interesting book that I've gone to Amazon and ordered a copy.  It has a one day delivery, so I can start enjoying this new book as early as tomorrow.

It's the story of Elizabeth Keckley, born into slavery, and her friendship with Mary Todd Lincoln.  Elizabeth was a gifted seamstress.  She earned freedom for herself and for her son by the skill of her needle.   She won the friendship of First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln by her devotion.

Now that the creative programs are over, I'll switch over to WE TV and watch Law & Order for a while.  I have a cabinet that needs cleaning out, so maybe I can work on that while I'm watching TV.  After that, I think I'll make a meat sauce and cook up a pot of spaghetti.

I think I posted about animal overpasses before but it's worth a repeat.  Here's a picture of one of these overpasses.  They are very effective in saving lives.  We should be building these across the country.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading before getting started on this new day.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

What Day Is Today?

 September 17, 2021

Good morning.  It's early, not even daylight yet.  My phone app says that today will be cloudy with maybe a little shower later this morning. and temps in the sixties.  Yesterday was a very restful day, and last night was a good sleeping night for me.

I did boil the eggs in the new gadget, but I did not shake them up and crack all the shells.  Instead, I put the boiled eggs in a bowl and put it in the fridge.  By then I was not in the mood for the egg salad.  However, I will make the salad today.

You know, on TV, cooking and peeling these eggs looked so easy.  In reality, after reading the instructions, you find that after the eggs are cooked, now you have to take the gadget to the sink and run it under the cold water for two minutes (waste of water) and then you put the cover back on and begin the shaking for two minutes.  Why didn't they show all of this on the TV?  Hopefully, if these eggs are fully cooked, I'll peel them the old fashioned way and enjoy them.

I found an item online about Xylitol (toxic to dogs) and thought I should share it with you.  It seems that Xylitol is now being sold under a new name.  BIRCH SUGAR.   It is STILL TOXIC  to dogs.  So please look for this on the contents label of items, especially Peanut Butter and Ice Cream.

Yesterday, I did manage to put a few rows on each of my crochet projects, and I'll do the same again today.  If I keep this up, they should all be finished soon.  I've also started a mystery project, but we'll talk more about that some other time.

I found a very interesting place online where you can order some awesome personalized mugs.  It's web address is 64HYDRO.COM.  There is something for everyone there.  Have a look.  I think I'll spend some time this afternoon looking at all their items.

Another interesting item that I found was this wonderful tee shirt.  I had to laugh because it really suits me to a tee.

It's a bit early to do my blog reading (lots of you folks aren't up yet)  so I think I'll head on over to the kitchen and make some breakfast and a cup of coffee.  Before I do, let me share one more item that I found on the web.  It gave me the biggest chuckle.

Here's wishing you a mosquito free day.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Murphy's Law Day For Me

September 16, 2021

"Murphy's Law"   In its simplest form, Murphy's Law states "If anything can go wrong, it will."

Good morning.  Tis gray outside this morning and it has been raining a bit off and on.  We should have some sunshine later on and temps in the low seventies.  Rather a nice day.

Yesterday turned out to be a day I'd rather not repeat.  It was my grocery delivery day.  Well, that's what it was supposed to be.  A little after ten a.m. the delivery car arrived.  With only five items out of the forty six that I had ordered.   The whole thing had to be sent back to the store.

I called the store and spoke to someone acting as manager for the day.  (It was the manager's day off)  I explained the problem and he said he would take care of it right away.  Soon, the delivery car came back with a lot of groceries.  After the driver left, I went through everything and put it all away, making a list of everything that was still missing.

Another phone call to the store, and I named all the missing items to the "manager" who (once again) said he would take care of it right away.  In a while, the delivery person showed up again with the rest of the groceries.  By the time everything was put away, I had already done a whole days work and was exhausted.

Deanne and I had originally planned to go out and enjoy an ice cream sundae after she got out of work, but now I was just too tired to go.  This should be the end of this saga, but it isn't.

At 8:25 p.m., another delivery car showed up with groceries.  I told the driver that I had already received my order earlier in the day, and she left to take it all back to the store.  I really felt bad for her, but I wasn't up to starting this whole shebang over again.

"shebang (SHa'baNG),  noun,  a matter, operation or set of circumstances"  per dictionary.

Sadly, I did not do any crocheting yesterday.  However, today is a new day and I intend to put a few rows on each of my projects.  I'm also going to make some egg salad to enjoy later.  I have and Egg Pod that I want to try out.

I had one before, and I decided to wash it before I tried using it.  That was my mistake.  I took it all apart and washed it, but then broke it trying to put it back together.  It ended up in the recycle bin.  Today I shall skip the "wash first" part and just put the eggs in it and cook them.  I'm hoping it works the way it is supposed to.

It's time to take stock of my gift wrapping supplies, so I may go online to see if I can find any of my favorite wrapping bags.  I still have a few left from last year but I could use a few more.  Plus I'll need a few more bows and rolls of Scotch tape.  This will be fun shopping.

Pretty soon, I'll have to decide what to do about a new calendar.  My cards and calendar just won't be the same anymore.

Today I want to share photos (that I took yesterday) of one of the little critters in my yard.  This cute little squirrel was enjoying a nut that fell from one of the trees.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Time For Renewals

September 14, 2021

Good morning.  The sun is shining and today's temps should be in the seventies.  An awesome late summer day.

I've been up for hours, but I've been busy trying to do some holiday shopping online.  Plus I put in a grocery order to be delivered tomorrow.    There were a few things that I needed from another market but I couldn't figure out how to use the app to place an order.  I'll wait till Deanne comes by and have her help me with that one.

It's time for me to get my license to carry firearms renewed.  I'll have to call the police station to find out what I need to do this.  I meant to do it earlier but then I got side tracked and forgot all about it.  I also have the Utah license that is good in 32 states, and it will need to be renewed too.  I'll be busy today.

Yesterday I spent the afternoon going through a big bag of junk mail.  I don't know why I don't just do this on a daily basis.  It would make life so much easier for me.  Alas, I just can't seem to make this a habit.

The new great grandbaby due in October just might be coming a bit sooner.  September 22 is the new arrival date.  Her name is going to be Cerys.  (pronounced Karis)  It's a Welsh feminine name meaning "Love, Loved one."

Here's an interesting map that I borrowed from the web to share.  It shows the life expectancy for folks in each of the United States.

Here's a close up of the color keys.

Hmmm, definitely interesting!

I found a cute crochet pattern for hair scrunchies online too.  I wear these a lot so I think I'll try making a few of them.  They look easy enough.

Now I'm thinking that a hot cup of coffee would be nice to enjoy while I'm doing some blog reading.  So, till Thursday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Don't Forget Your Pets!

September 13, 2021

Good morning.  Tis gray outside, but it's early yet.  Not quite seven o'clock.  The weather forecaster says we'll get some sun today with temps in the seventies, and maybe some showers.  Let's pray for the folks (and animals) in Texas and Louisiana and other Gulf coast areas that are being hit by Tropical Storm Nicholas with huge amounts of rain.

If any of you are in these storm areas, please don't leave your pets behind when you leave to find safer areas.  They are family and they would never leave you behind.   (image from web)

I guess we're going to get our rain showers sooner than we think.  Everything outside is already wet and there are fallen leaves all over my driveway.  Sort of gloomy looking.

I have the cartoon program on (TV), but there is so much nonsense going on between showing the cartoons that it takes away from the fun of watching the cartoons.  Some folks just should not be making up the programs for children's viewing.

Today I think I'll maybe do a load of laundry and then work on my crochet projects.  I do a few rows on each project, then start over again.  Meanwhile, I'm trying to finish some of my holiday shopping online.  It's just not the same as being in the store and seeing things up close and personal, but I'm trying.

One of the new stamps that I had ordered came in the mail a couple days ago.  They are birthday stamps and they are really pretty.  They're on a sheet of twenty stamps.

Yesterday, Kevin's baseball team, the Tigers, won this year's championship.  Three years in a row!  Congratulations, guys.  Great job!

And yes, that photo of Deanne and her friend Caroline was published in yesterdays newspaper, along with four other photos from the local Freedom Walk.

Leave It To Beaver is on TV now so I'm going to make a fresh cup of coffee and enjoy watching the program.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Breathing Better Already

September 12, 2021

Good morning.  My phone app says that it will be sunny all day today with temps in the upper seventies, maybe even eighty degrees.  Super!  It's a great day for a baseball playoff game.  Kevin's baseball team is playing today for the trophy.  Good luck fellas!

Friday, the fellow from the oxygen company finally showed up with a new concentrator for me.  It was five minutes before five o'clock in the afternoon.  I guess that's as close to a morning call that I'll ever get.    I had him leave the new machine on the porch.

In the morning, I had put the old concentrator out on my porch, and hooked my cannula up to my small portable concentrator.  My breathing improved immediately.  I brought the new machine inside and hooked it up.  It's working just fine, thank you.  And I'm feeling so much better now.

You know how I love to watch the old TV programs?  Well, I came across a very interesting photo.  One of my favorite programs was Leave It To Beaver.  This is a photo of Wally Cleaver, all grown up.  My goodness, now I'm really feeling rather old!  Even so, he is rather a handsome old man!  (and he still looks like Wally)

And here's another photo showing more of the cast grown up. (April 13, 2013)

Yesterday morning, Deanne and her friend Caroline took part in a Freedom Walk.  You girls are special.  Thank you.  (photo - Caroline on left, Deanne on right) This photo was taken by the photographer for the local newspaper.  It will most likely be published in today's paper.

My box of new yarn came Friday afternoon.  Woo Hoo!  I couldn't wait to open it.  Oh my, how pretty!  I immediately started a new baby crib blanket.  Ooooooh!  I love it!  And I think I've decided on what to make with the Christmasy colored yarn.  I'll let you know what it is as soon as I decide definitely.

Now it's time for me to get busy and start this new day.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Time For A New Concentrator

September 10, 2021

Good morning.  We had a bit of rain last night, and it cooled things off nicely.  Today will be sunny with temps in the upper sixties to mid seventies.  A really beautiful day.

Well, the oxygen concentrator started its beeping again so I called the company and asked them to come out today to take care of this problem.  There is definitely something wrong with this machine and it needs to be replaced.  The woman on the phone could hear the beeping over the phone and agreed with me.

I told her how I had called the company a while ago about the machine getting so hot.  At that time, I was told that the hot air in my living room was what was making the machine run so hot.  I also told her how I looked it up on Google and found out that the machine running hot meant that it was not functioning properly.  It had nothing to do with the air temperature in my living room.

I also asked her to schedule me for a morning appointment today because usually when they come out to my house it is very late in the afternoon or early evening.  She told me that they are supposed to call me with a two or three hour window of when they might get to me.  Really?  They've never done this for me before.  They normally just say they will get there as soon as they can.

So, we shall see what we shall see.  Hopefully, they will show up sometime this morning and bring me a new concentrator.

Here's a wonderful giggle that I found on the web.  Oh my, poor Bob!

Now I'm going to the kitchen to make some breakfast and a cup of coffee.  I want to be ready for the guy from the oxygen company just in case he shows up this morning.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

My Cranky Concentrator

September 9, 2021

Good morning.  According to my phone app, we should be having temps in the sixties all day and rain showers right through till six o'clock tomorrow morning.  It is gray outside, so maybe.

I spent most of the night keeping an eye on the oxygen concentrator.  It started beeping at me in the evening and on and off all through the night.  This morning as I was getting ready to call the company, the beeping stopped.  I guess machines get cranky now and then just like folks do.  If it does it again, I'll make that phone call.

Today I'll do some laundry.   After that, we'll see.  There's a Law & Order, Criminal Intent marathon on the WE channel today so that's what I'll be watching.  It's amazing how many episodes they show that I don't remember seeing before.

Here's an adorable image that I borrowed from the web.  They may not be our favorite animals, but they are God's children too.  They're not going to hurt us.  They just want to be left alone.

I think a nap is in order for today too.  Keeping an eye on the concentrator all night only afforded me snatches of sleep.  Who knows, maybe I'll let the laundry go till tomorrow.  That nap sounds super good to me.

Now I'm I'm off to do some blog reading before I nod off.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Tis A Beautiful Day

September 7, 2021

Good morning.  Today is beautiful.  Sunshine all day and temps in the high seventies.  Simply scrumptious.

To my Jewish friends and family, L'shanah Tovah.  Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, began at sundown last night.  It is a celebration of the creation of the world, and a time for prayer, good deeds, reflecting on past mistakes and making amends with others.

I've done a little research and here's a list of upcoming holidays: (per our calendar)

54 days till Halloween, 65 days till Veterans Day, 79 days till Thanksgiving, 82 days till Hanukkah,  109 days till Christmas, 116 days till New Years Day.

It almost looks like we have lots of time to prepare for these holidays.  But rest assured, time is going to fly by and mess up our good intentions.  At least it does every year for me.  I start early, but somehow time manages to get ahead of me anyway.😕

I guess I still haven't mastered the art of doing all my shopping online.  Somehow it just isn't the same as being in the stores and seeing everything up close and personal.  I do miss the actual shopping.  But, like most other folks, I'll get used to this new way of doing things soon.

Here's an interesting picture that I borrowed from the web.  I thought that folks with cats might enjoy seeing this.  It's such a great idea.

It's almost noon and I'm going to have a bowl of elbow macaroni and meat sauce.  It was delicious last night and it always tastes better the next day.  Before I go, let me share another beautiful image that I borrowed from the web.

Be kind to one another.  It costs nothing to be kind.  Now I'm off to make lunch and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till Thursday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Labor Day 2021

September 6, 2021

Good morning.  Today is supposed to be nice with temps in the sixties and seventies, with maybe some showers later this morning.  After lunch, the sun should be shining.  All this, according to my phone app.

Today is Labor Day, a patriotic holiday to pay tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers.  It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894.

Last night I watched all of Season Two of "Making The Cut."  (a fashion design program)  Now I'm all set for when Season Three begins next month.  I'd love to watch some of the last few seasons of Project Runway, but it is on Peacock and I don't understand how that works yet.

While I was watching TV, I put a few more rows on both of the pocket wraps that I'm working on.  I just might be able to finish both of them by the end of the month.  That would be nice because my new yarn will be here then and I'll be wanting to start making something new.

I found this delightful image on the web and I just have to share it.  It's so me and it gives me a big giggle every time I look at it.

Yesterday I did not make my meat sauce and pasta, so that is my top priority project for today.  Plus I have another big bag full of junk mail to go through.  That should keep me busy for the rest of the day.

Now I think I'll make some breakfast and enjoy a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Doggy!

September 5, 2021

Good morning.  Today is gray with temps in the sixties, possibly seventy.   We may even have a few rain showers later today.  That is according to my phone app.

Yesterday was weird.  It was one of those days where I just couldn't seem to get out of my own way.  Ever have a day like that?  You're hungry, but you're not.  You're tired, but you're not.  Nothing seems to please you.  Thank goodness these days don't come along very often.  Eventually, I settled down and did a bit of crocheting.

Today I think I'll make a meat sauce.  I'm having a yen for some pasta.  Actually, just thinking about it is making me hungry.  Now I just have to decide whether to have macaroni or spaghetti.  Sighhhhh, such a decision!

Remember the doggie bed that I had ordered and sent to my cousin's dog, Ginger?  Well, the bed arrived Friday afternoon, and Ginger immediately knew that it was for her.  She hopped right on it and sprawled out.  She was a very happy doggie!  This is the photo that my cousin sent to me.

I've never seen Ginger.  My cousin said that she weighed twenty five pounds, so I ordered a bed for that weight.  The bed could be bigger, but Ginger is happy with it the way it is.  I have a soft spot for animals.  Seeing them happy makes my heart happy.

I found a really beautiful photo on the web and borrowed it to share with you.  The photographer's name is Dean Mason.  I wonder what kind of babies these are.

Nature is amazing.  Can you imagine the time it took for their Mother to build this warm, safe cocoon that would keep the babies safe until they were big enough to come out and explore the world?  Could you or I do this?  I think not.

Now I'm off to watch some Law & Order on TV.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Prelude To Autumn

September 3, 2021

Good morning.  The sun is shining and today's temps will be in the upper sixties, maybe even seventy degrees.  It feels good but I had to shut off my fan because it was making me feel cold.  I guess Autumn is coming.

Yesterday was a nice quiet day.  I caught up on some napping, and worked on the yellow pocket wrap for a while.  Last night I started watching re-runs of "Making The Cut" because the new season will be starting next month.  I made it almost all the way through the first season, so I'll finish watching that today.

This morning I have to finish packaging the baby blanket that I'm sending to my son in Florida.  I have another package ready for mailing too.  I'm sending some music on a thumb drive to my cousin.  Deanne will be stopping by after work to pick up my packages and take them to the Post Office.  Thank you Dee Dee.

I found this beautiful image on the web and borrowed it to share.  I know I'm always mentioning how quickly time passes us by, and it's true. This image is a reminder for us to enjoy each day while we can.

Some of us are very lucky and not only get to see our children grow up to be parents, but we get to see them as grandparents too.  How awesome is this?  When we were very young ourselves, did we ever think that this day would be coming?  We may even get to see our children as great grandparents.  How blessed we are!

I have some catching up to do on my blog reading, so I'm going to be doing that shortly.  Before I go, let me share another beautiful image that I borrowed from the web.

So,  till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Hello September!

September 2, 2021

Good morning.  It has been raining hard here all through the night, and it is just now slowing down. (in my area)  We are having flash flood warnings and some tornado warnings toward the Cape and the Islands.  There are a lot of power outages.  (not in my area so far)

I'm watching the Weather Channel, and this weather lady in a super tight dress is saying that the rain has moved on out but the flood warnings are still in place.  I open my door and the rain is still coming down.  It makes me wonder who makes up the weather maps and forecasts for this weather lady.

September is starting off rather feisty.  Let's hope the rest of the month is a bit calmer.  Here's the September page from my calendar.

How about some happy news.  I have pictures of some of the new yarns.  They are (top to bottom:  0005 Merry Multi, 0004 Americana Multi, 0003 Lullaby Multi, 0002 Impressionist Multi and 0001 Harvest Multi.  I ordered some of the 0002 and 0003 for baby blankets, and some of the 0005 because I just couldn't resist it.

I also ordered yarn for an afghan, and I'll have photos of that yarn when I get to starting that afghan.  I'll be busy for quite a while now.

It's now 6:48 a.m. and the rain here is just about done.  There are only a few little drops coming down.  However, the wind is rather perky.  In a few hours, this should all turn into a really nice day.  (except for flooding)

Now I've switched channels (on the TV) to Create TV, where they are showing how to make art with paper towels.  First you wipe up paint spills with the paper towel, let it dry and smooth it out.  (press with iron if necessary)  You can put paper appliques on it, sew pieces together, and even quilt it.  So many fun things to do with it.  For them.  Not me.  I am not impressed with messy paper art.  But I do enjoy watching these folks getting so excited with their crafts.  (plus I learn something new)

Now it's time for me to head for the kitchen and make some breakfast.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Farewell To August

August 31, 2021

Good morning.  Gosh, it's almost noon, and I've just woke up!  I did not get much sleep last night, and when I finally dozed off, it was almost time to get up.  While I was sleeping, August was taking her final bows.  Here's a cute image I borrowed from the web.

On a happy note, I did call the yarn company yesterday and was able to order some of those beautiful new colored yarns.  I'll have some photos to share on the next post.

During all this heat, my roses have not fared well, while Deanne's roses are thriving.  Have a look at these beauties.

My phone's weather app is not very smart.  It says that we should be getting some rain today, but then it shows a hot and cloudy day for all day.???  I wonder who makes these apps.  Are they really cooking on all burners?  Ah well, if nothing else, at least my app is entertaining.

Storm Ida has made her way East, and should get here in the next day or two.  Meanwhile, I'll have to go out in a while and water all my plants.  The Weather Channel is saying that we'll be getting some rain tomorrow afternoon and on Thursday.

Today is going to be another lazy day for me.  I'll package up the baby blanket and get it ready for mailing.  After that, ???  We'll see.  I'll do the dishes first and take it from there.  The "dishes" are mostly things that were in the refrigerator.  Last evening, I cleaned out the refrigerator.  It seems that lots of things get put in there and then forgotten about.  Yuk Yuk.  Are you like that too?

One of these days, I need to re-pot some new Aloe Vera plants.  They are all shoots from my big plant.  Deanne and I planted them in a long planter box earlier this year, and they are all doing really well.  Now I just have to find homes for some of them.

I can't remember if I ever posted a photo of Clyde enjoying a snack, so I'll post it today.  He really is such a cutie!

Now I'm going to make a cup of coffee and make some brunch.  Then I can do some blog reading.  So, till Thursday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Hurricane Ida Is Now An Aggressive Tropical Storm

August 30, 2021

Good morning.  Are you noticing?  There's only today and tomorrow left in this month.  Time is picking up a little bit of speed.  In just a few weeks, we'll be starting a brand new season.  My phone app says that today will be sunny and very warm until mid afternoon.  Then we should be getting rain that will last for a few hours.  Of course, this is a "we'll see" situation.  My phone app doesn't always tell it like it is.

Yesterday was a quiet day here.  I did get to chat with my cousin for a while on the phone.  Her little dog, Ginger, hasn't been feeling so good these past few days.  I found a pretty plushy dog bed on line, and ordered it for her.  I'm hoping it will help her to feel better.  It's really a quite comfy bed.

I also worked on the pocket wraps for a while.  One of them is finally at the half way mark.  The other one needs about eight more rows to reach the half way mark.  Little by little.  I'm getting there.

Today I want to call Herrschners to find out about some new yarn that I'm seeing in their latest catalogue, but is not posted online yet.  One is a new variegated yarn in baby pastels, and I want it to make my next crib blanket.

Hurricane Ida may now be called a Tropical storm, but she has left horrendous loss and damage to so many folks,  The whole of New Orleans has no electrical power.  More than one million folks in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi have no power.  The storm is still dumping lots of rain and will continue to do so as it moves East and Northeast.  We should be getting some rain from it by Thursday.  (according to the Weather Channel)

I was talking to a friend of mine recently and we discovered that not all of us know what to do when there are tornado warnings in our areas.  So, I borrowed this image from the web and hope that it is helpful.

And don't forget to keep your pets safe.  They are part of your family.  Keep them with you and provide protection for them too.

Now I think I'm going to head for the kitchen and whip up some breakfast and a cup of coffee.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

My Cup Runneth Over

August 29, 2021

Good morning.  Today is going to be gorgeous!  Temps are supposed to stay in the upper seventies all day.  Woo Hoo!  During the night, I actually slept for more than four hours in one shot.

I'm watching "Fit 2 Stitch" on TV.  The host is showing us how to make a wrap.  It's really quite easy, although I don't like how the wrap looks when you put it on.  Of course, that's a matter of personal taste.  Before this came on, the program was about teaching some new knit stitches.  I thought the "braid" stitch was quite interesting.

I love these shows that teach you how to do things.  Even if I'm not going to try it, I enjoy learning the "how to" about things.  (Rhode Island PBS has a lot of these programs.)

I finished the latest baby crib blanket and will soon wrap it up and send it off to Florida for the new great granddaughter due in October.  I've since learned that another great grandbaby is due in March.  Not sure yet what the gender is.  So, that makes three new babies.  Wow!  Talk about blessings!

I dug out a photo of the cocoon set that I had made several years ago for my great granddaughter Alima.  The new set that I made recently is the same pattern.  How cute is this?

I found another new really pretty baby yarn, but I'll have to wait until tomorrow to call and order it.  I'll use it to make the next baby crib blanket.  Meanwhile, I need to finish these pocket wraps.  Last night I put a few more rows on each of them.  A few more rows on each of them and they will be half done.  Except for the pockets, of course.

My grandson Stephen got officially engaged recently.  This is a photo of him and his fiancee, Nitya, and their mothers at the engagement celebration.   I wish you kids many happy healthy years together.

On this happy note, I'm going to take my leave and enjoy some blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Beautiful

August 27, 2021

Good morning.  It's looking really pretty outside right now, but it's warm and getting warmer.   Between Covid and the high temperatures, I've not been outdoors very much this year.  I hope next year is much better.

It's been hot here, and sleep does not come easily.  So today will have to include a nap if it's possible.  I've discovered that my oxygen concentrator is part of the reason why it is so hot indoors.  That thing is throwing off enough heat to warm up the room.  I called the company but they said that it uses the air in the room, so that is why it feels warm.

I looked it up on Google and it said something else.  It said that if the machine was hot enough to heat up the room, then the machine was not functioning properly.  I guess I'll have to make another call to the company that owns the machine.

Well, today Jazzy starts at Smith college.  Deanne and Eddie and Jazzy left really early this morning and headed to the college to help Jazzy get settled.  Then, the school has a whole day of things planned for all the parents that show up.

Here's a cute image that I borrowed from the web to share.  Us oldies still do have fun when we get together.  I know I used to have a wonderful time when I was with my Aunt Lucy.  She was only a few years older than me, and us girls had a grand time when we got together.

A Law & Order marathon is starting soon (on the TV) so it's time for me to do some blog reading before it starts.  Let me leave you with another adorable image that I borrowed from the web.

How true!  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Today's A Steamer

August 26, 2021

Good morning.  Today's going to be a hot one!  A good day to stay indoors with a cooling fan.  Or air conditioning.  Try to enjoy these last hurrah days of summer.  In less than a month, we'll be welcoming a new season, Autumn.  Already the days are getting shorter, and soon we'll be complaining about the cold.

Pretty soon it will be time to start wrapping packages and mailing boxes for the Holidays.  Scary, huh?  Time is passing by so quickly now.  Has anyone actually started their holiday gift buying?  I have.  I haven't wrapped them, but I do have a few things already set aside.

Now I need to get crackin' with my crocheting.  I need to finish up all the projects that I have going.  I think that once the temperatures cool down a bit, it will be easier to crochet for longer periods.

Some time ago I ordered a seed catalogue.  I'm not planning on buying any seeds, but I'm going to enjoy looking through the catalogue at all the wonderful plants that are available.  I'm hoping that it arrives soon.

Now here's a program I haven't watched in a while.  "The Closer" just came on the TV.  I had forgotten how much I had enjoyed watching it.  After a few hours, "Major Crimes" will be the next mini marathon.  This makes it a great day for watching TV.

Here's an image that I borrowed from web to share.  I never knew this.  Did you?  I'll have to get me another egg carton and give it a try.

Now I think I'll get a fresh bottle of cold spring water and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Henri Has Gone

August 24, 2021

Good morning.  Henri came and went without much ado.  Last night, it finally rained for a few hours.  We were very lucky. Although the higher temps are back for a few days.  It's going to be very hot.

Let us all pray for the folks in Tennessee who have lost everything from the floods.  If you can help these folks, I'm sure there will be lots of information on the web about what they need and where to send it.

My wrist brace came yesterday and I started using it last evening.  Hopefully, it will help.  Some Alka Seltzer helped with the runny nose for a little while.  I was able to put a few more rows on the baby blanket.  I have thirty two rows done already.  Awesome!

I meant to give you an update on Joe.  He's been feeling better and back to work.  Today he will see his doctor and have one more test, then he will find out what is to be the outcome for his appendix.  It doesn't sound like they are in a hurry to take it out.

Last night, I found some of the most adorable photos (on the web) of a tiny red squirrel.  They were taken by a Swedish-Dutch photographer, Girt Vegg, who has authored several books with a lot of these photos.  Here are just a few of the photos.  They are just so precious!

Now I'm off to enjoy some blog reading.  So, till Thursday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.'

Keeping Busy

August 23, 2021

Good morning.  Well, so far, we haven't had very much rain or wind from the storm.  It made a turn inland when it made landfall.  The devastation it left in Tennessee is horrid.  So many homes lost.  So many lives gone.  There are still a lot of folks missing.  Let's pray they are all found alive.

I guess we'll get the rain and wind later today and tomorrow as the storm is heading back out to sea.  At least that's what it looks like on TV.  I keep putting the Weather Channel on to see where Henri is heading and when, but so far I haven't seen very much about that.

This week I learned something new.  Some medications can cause a constant runny nose.  I've been on meds for the last couple of months and my nose has been running that long.  It's beginning to get sore now, and I need for it to stop.  I've been looking up meds on Google and I think I've figured out which med is the culprit.  I'll double check, then I'll call my doctor to see what can be done.

The new baby blanket is coming along just fine.  I've already re-crocheted one large ball of yarn (1 skein) and attached the second large ball of yarn.  I've got about twenty one rows done so far.  I'll work on this for a while this afternoon.  It's really quite pretty, and a lot easier to make.

I made a list of my great grandchildren.  There are twelve of them so far (and two on the way).  This means that I have five more afghans to make.  After that, I really should make a couple more for just in case.  That will be a while from now though.

I just went outside to get the mail, and it is so nice out there.  It's sunny and the temperature is 77F degrees.  The rain is supposed to start early this afternoon.  We'll just have to wait and see.

I borrowed a couple images from the web to share.  These are so true.

Till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous day.
