A Surprise For Me

January 31, 2021

Good morning.  Have you noticed?  Today is the last day of January.  Spring is getting closer every day.  It's still wicked cold outside, but tomorrow is supposed to get about ten degrees warmer.  Woo Hoo!

Yesterday Deanne came by after work with a surprise for me.  Oh my, wait till you see my surprise!  It was a blanket and a mask.  But not just any blanket and mask.  They're beautiful!  I love them!  Thank you so much, Deanne.  I hugged my new blanket close to me all night while I slept.

Last night I watched a movie on Amazon Video.  I wanted to watch the original "The Miracle Worker" but it was not available.  Instead, they did have the new version of the movie so I watched that.  It was still a wonderful movie but I had a difficult time making out all the words.  The sound was off, or something.  But I watched the whole thing.

This morning, I'm watching reruns of animated movies.  The Bee Movie, Despicable Me, etc.  When the temps warm up more, I'll get back to my crocheting.

And while it is this cold outside folks, please remember that it's too cold for your pets.  And the homeless animals too.  Bring your pets indoors and make a warm place for the homeless animals to get out of the cold.

Now I'm off to do some blog reading.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

BRRRRR!

 January 29, 2021

Good morning.  Today is Brrrrrr!  Temps are at 7F degrees, and might climb as high as 15F degrees later this afternoon with some snow showers.  This is definitely not my cup of tea!  I just have to keep saying to myself,  "only fifty more days till Spring."

Last night I made one Watermelon scrubby dish cloth.  It's really pretty, but I'll wait for the temps to go up a bit before making another one.  It's just too cold to sit and crochet.  It's so much warmer beneath my warm blanket.  Today will be a lazy TV day.  Here's the Watermelon cloth.

It seems to have warmed up a bit.  (although I can't feel it yet)  Here's what my phone app is saying now.  Note the "feels like" portion.

It's not comfortable sitting here to type so I'm going to make this a very short post and crawl under my blankets and get warm.  When it warms up a little more, I'll do some blog reading.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe (and warm!) and have a fantabulous day.

Another Cold, Snowy Day.

January 28, 2021

Good morning.  My phone app was right this time.  Today is the third day of snow in a row.  The only problem with it is that my phone app is calling for snow tomorrow too, with temps going down, down, down.

I'm enjoying my morning coffee (a gift from my friend Kyra, thank you.)  in my favorite coffee mug.

Deanne gave this mug to me a while ago, and I love it.  This morning I noticed a tiny crack forming on it.  When Deanne comes by today, I'll ask her where she got this mug so that hopefully I can get another one.

A few days ago, Deanne ordered a new laptop, and it came yesterday afternoon.  (It was delivered here because I'm home all day)  So, today when she gets here she will have a nice surprise to open.  Kevin and Jazzy can help her get it set up.  They're pretty savvy to today's technology.  Good luck Deanne with your new laptop!

I didn't do much crocheting last evening.  I did sleep though!  I even slept late this morning.  Now that was a treat!  Today I think I'll work in the yarn ends that I've left on all the new scrubby dish cloths.  It's not one of my favorite things to do, but it needs to be done so that I can really call them finished.

Here's a couple images that I borrowed from the web to share with you.  How true they are!

There's not much more news for today, and I'm going to do some blog reading now.  So till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Pasta And Yarn. Perfection!

January 27, 2021

Good morning.  Well, we did get the snow yesterday.  Not tons of it, just enough to cover everything.  Let's see what today brings.  Just think, only fifty two days till Spring!  Hopefully, the warm weather will come with it.  Last year, the cold temps stayed during Spring.

Yesterday, I did make a big pot of pasta and meat sauce.  Yum, yum, yum!  I won't worry about freezing it because it won't last long enough for that.  When I make a big pot, I usually end up giving one or two bowls of it to one of the dwarfs.

There's been no one here to model my pocket wrap so I hung it on a hanger with my dress and took a photo.  The photo doesn't do it justice, but you get the idea.

Last night I made a second Grape scrubby dish cloth, then worked on the Aran pocket wrap for a while.  Today I'll make a third Grape scrubby cloth, then I think I'll start one with the Watermelon scrubby yarn.  These colors are such fun to work with.  I think I'd like to get a few more.  Like Fuchsia and Lime and Petal Pink.

My new Herrschner's catalogue came yesterday, and it had a picture of an afghan  that would be perfect for using up lots of left over yarns.  I'm thinking I just might try this.  Isn't this just sooo pretty?

You know, I was thinking that this might make a really pretty wrap too.  What do you think?  Actually, I think I might make one.  This is one of my favorite patterns.

I just went out to get the mail.  It's been snowing again and it looks like a few inches has settled on everything.  It's also cold out there.  PLEASE bring your pets indoors and make a comfortable shelter outside where the homeless animals can go to keep warm.  (next image borrowed from web)

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  Till next time, stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Can We Freeze Pasta?

January 26, 2021

Good morning.  The sun is not shining, and my phone app says that we will have snow today, tomorrow and the next day.  Oh goodie, goodie!

One good thing, last evening I did finally finish sewing the second pocket onto my pocket wrap.  Today I'll try to get a photo to share.  I had the wrap around my shoulders for a while and it felt really nice.  After that, I started another Grape scrubby dish cloth.

Today I'll put a couple more rows on each of the two pocket wraps that I'm working on.  A few rows here and there, and they'll both get done in no time.  After that, I'll have to decide whether or not to make another one or to pick a new project.  Ahhh, such decisions!

I'm thinking about making some meat sauce and a pot of pasta.  Pasta always tastes good, but when it's cold weather, pasta tastes twice as good.  Or maybe it's just me.  I'm a pasta person.  Normally, I would cook a whole pot of pasta, but with just me, I only cook half a pound of the pasta.  I tried once to cook it all and freeze half of it, but when it was time to defrost it and cook it and eat it, it just did not taste right.

I just looked this up on Google, and it says that pasta, with or without sauce, can be frozen.   You only  cook it up to the al dente stage.  If it is fully cooked, it will most likely be mushy after frozen, thawed and heated to eat.  I guess this was the mistake I made.

Let me share something that I borrowed from the web.  It is sooooo true!

Here's another item that I borrowed from the web.  This is very true!  I know.  My little toes have helped many a piece of furniture to stay in place.

So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

These Golden Years Are Something Else!

January 25, 2021

Good morning.  It feels a bit warmer this morning, even though it is not.  Temps are at 20F degrees.  But, the wind might not be blowing and that makes a difference.  My phone app says that Friday will be our coldest day this week.  Nice.

Let me tell you about my interesting Sunday.  Late in the afternoon, I decided to take a nap.  And nap I did.  For hours!  When I woke up next morning, it was still dark out, only around six o'clock.  I got up and made my breakfast and coffee.  I like getting an early start on my day.

After I finished eating my breakfast, I got a text message from my daughter Deanne.  The time on it was 6:28 pm.  Oh oh.  Something's not quite right here.  It's Monday morning at my house and still Sunday evening at her house.  How can this be?

I had planned a tasty meal for my supper and now I felt cheated out of it. Ah, but these are my golden years.  No biggie.  I'll have that nice supper tonight.  As my daughter Deanne said, now I have something to look forward to.

On a brighter note, I started working with the "Grape" and "Violet Splash" yarns.  Oh my, another pretty dish cloth.

You know, I have two pocket wraps almost finished.  The first one and mine.  I just have to sew the second pocket onto each of them.  Why am I procrastinating?  I have no clue.  So maybe I'll make that my project for today.  It might not get done, but then again it just might.

I found an image on the web and just had to borrow it.  It's exactly how I felt all these years with my precious Pogo.  It's good to know that others feel the same way.

I've started checking online for another little dog from a shelter or rescue.  So far, I've had no luck.  I was told by one place that animals are not being placed during the pandemic because of not being able to do home checks.  I was also asked, "What will happen to your pet if you die?"  (this is because of my age)  I said that one of my daughters would take my doggie home with her.  The shelter lady answered "That's not what we have in mind for our animals.  We don't pass the animals on to someone else."

Everyday on Facebook, folks are sharing photos of the animals that they have just adopted.  How are they able to do this  and I can't?  At another website for a rescue place, there were four pages of available dogs.  Only four of the dogs were available.  All the others we not adoptable.  Really?

Today I spent a little while looking for available small dogs online, but so far I haven't found any that are available in my area.  A lot of the ads are misleading.  They say one thing, but when you check them out, you find something else.  This could be a reason why so many folks go to a breeder instead of a rescue shelter.

Ah well.  I'll keep looking.  So, till the next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Tis Fuzzy Sock Weather

January 24, 2021

Good morning.  I stayed off my laptop yesterday, so this morning I had a lot to do before I could type a post here.  My emails were piled up, plus I had images and photos to resize so that I could post them here.  Is it cold where you live?  It is wicked cold here.  It feels like it is just coming up through the floors.  My feet are not happy about it.

But, I do have some wonderful fuzzy socks that help to keep my feet warm.  However, they do not go well with my flip flops, so today I shall go online and order some flip flop socks.  Have you ever noticed how difficult it is to do anything when your feet are cold?

How about some fun news?  Have you ever tried to teach your kitty cat tricks?  I've never met a cat who could do tricks.  Till now.  Jasmine has taught Nutmeg how to give "high five" when asked.  You just say "high five" to her and she puts her paw up to your palm.  Here's a photo of her giving SIL Eddie a "high five."  I think this is just awesome.

I called the yarn company a couple days ago to find out why I can't find the right end of the yarn to start with.  The woman there advised me that with any small skeins she just takes the label off and uses the end of yarn that is under the label.  Just pretend it is a ball of yarn and use it that way.  I said thank you, and then I tried it.  It worked.

I picked out the skein of Pink Grapefruit scrubby yarn and a Pastel Pink cotton yarn (you work with two strands of yarn) and promptly made three dish cloths.  Oh my, they are really pretty.  Then I used the Lemon scrubby yarn and Sunflower Yellow cotton yarn to start another set.  This yellow is soooo pretty!   Here's a photo of these two.  The yellow cloth has since been finished and another started.

In between, I manage to put a row or two on each of the two pocket wraps that I'm working on.  There's no deadline date to have any of these projects finished so I'm taking my time.

I've decided that as soon as the weather warms up, I'm going to replace Ring with what I really wanted in the first place.  A camera and a screen that is always on so that I can see who and what is in my yard just by looking up at the screen.  I may keep the Ring for when I am not at home.  We'll see.

I'm also going to buy a new rug to put on my little porch and have the screens and railings all cleaned.  It gets dirty and dusty over the winter.  This year we did not put the screen covers on so it will be extra dirty.

Now I'm off to do some blog reading.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

A Day Wasted Waiting

January 22, 2021

Good morning.  My goodness, we had snow yesterday!  My phone app never mentioned this.  There must have been several hundred tiny little snow flakes scattered all over my yard before it was over.  Of course, once the flakes hit the ground or any object, they seemed to become invisible.  But I did see them coming down, so I know they were really here.  Deanne was here and she saw them too!

Well, I waited all day yesterday, right up until six p.m. for the mailman, but he never showed up.  My regular mailman should be on today, so I shall watch for him.  Yesterday was his day off and a substitute carrier did his route.  (or at least some of his route)   Needless to say, I did not get to do much of anything else while I was watching for the mail all day.

"Ring" is rather handy, but it does not let you speak to the person outside unless they hang around a bit while you get your Ring app opened on your phone.  This is not quite what I had in mind for buying this product, but it is what it is.  On TV, they show the homeowner speaking to the people outside right away.  I just haven't figured out how that works.

Therefore, most of my day was spent looking out my door, watching for the mailman.  I did not get much of anything else accomplished.  Maybe a few crochet rows on a project, but that's it.  Deanne came by after work and brought me a container of Shepherd's Pie for my supper.  Oh my, yummy!  Thank you, Deanne.  It was delicious.

I borrowed the above image from the web.  It sort of fits me to a T.  This next image is a photo that I took of an article in the Reader's Digest.  I'm sorry I folded the page over before I took the photo but you can still read it.  I just thought that it was a very good tip to pass along to all of you.

A reader asks what kind of potato to use to make the potato recipe on yesterday's blog.  I just buy large baking potatoes.   I look for a nice big ovally shaped potato.

Now I'm off to put my laundry together.  Deanne will be by after work to help me carry it all out to the laundry room.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

And I Was Thinking That The Post Office Was Back On Track

January 21, 2021

Good morning.  I was able to do a bit better sleeping this morning.  From 1 am to 4 am, I got some good winks.  After that, it was up-time for me.  I did a couple "word find" puzzles and put a few rows on the Aran pocket wrap.

Earlier, I tried to make a scrubby cloth with the Blueberry scrubby yarn.  What a nightmare!  It took forever to find the end of the yarn to get started.  After two rows, the yarn went bonkers.  It had loops all over and no way to keep crocheting without making knots in the yarn.  I ended up cutting the yarn from the piece I was working on.

Today I will give the yarn company a call and try to find out what the problem was with the yarn.  I have never had this problem before so I'm clueless.  I'm not even going to try the other yarns until I find out what happened with this skein of yarn.

Let me share with you a new way to bake a potato.  I found this on the web and thought it was interesting enough to try.  It does look very tasty!

Yesterday the mailman returned to me an envelope containing one of my Pogo calendars that I had sent to a friend for Christmas.  There was no stamp on the envelope.  Just a saying stamped onto the envelope - Returned for postage.  Above that was written $1.15.

I called the local Post Office where this envelope had originally been mailed from to find out what had happened.  They mostly said that "if" it ever had a stamp on it, it might have been knocked off by one of their process machines.  But they were sure that I had never put a stamp on it.

Folks, these are not paper card envelopes.  They have to be taken to the Post Office to be weighed before they decide how much postage needs to be put on.  I just pay the bill after all  the stamps have been applied by the Post Office staff.

I asked if the package/envelope would get delivered if I put an additional $1.1 5 stamps on it.  The guy would not give me answer.  When the calendars were originally mailed out, they cost a lot more than that to be mailed.  I put $1.20 worth of stamps on the envelope/package and today I'm going to give it to my mailman.  Hopefully, it will get delivered.

My fuel oil just got delivered.  When the guy gave me my bill, I gave him a hat and neck warmer set that I had made (for someone who did not want it).  It's wicked cold out there and I thought it would help to keep him warm.  That's my good deed for the day.  Now I can be bad till tomorrow morning.  (only kidding)

Let me leave you with this thought. (image borrowed from the web)

You make my days bright.  Till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Another Blogaversary

January 20, 2021

Good morning.  It's not quite 6:30 am yet, but I've been up for hours.  I seem to be falling asleep during the evening, and waking up shortly after midnight.  Not the best for me, so I'm hoping this changes back to something a bit more normal soon.

My mind is escaping me again.  Two days ago I began my fourteenth year blogging.  I started my blog on January 18, 2008.  I had meant to mention this on my blog on the eighteenth.  A blogger friend, Snow Raven, helped me to get started.   And yes, she still blogs.  Look up her blog to see some of beautiful creations.

I did not get to do my laundry yesterday.  I was kept busy throughout the day bringing in packages with things that I had ordered.  After letting them sit for a while, I then had the task of putting these things away.  Deanne came by after work and brought me some apple turnovers.  Yummy!  I had two of them for lunch!

One of the packages that came was the one with my new delicious scrubby yarns.  Oh my, they are sooooo pretty!  As soon as I can, I'll take a photo of them.  Or, as I make a cloth with each color, I'll photograph it.

Let me share a photo of  Deanne's little dog, Sassy, trying out the new self heating pad that we got for her bed.  She seems to like it.  Isn't she just the cutest!

I don't know if I mentioned before, but a few nights ago, while crocheting the blue pocket wrap, I discovered that something wasn't right.  It looked as though I had missed a stitch or two somewhere.  But where?  I already had more than 130 rows (out of 160) done.  Oh my, I found the boo boo.  I only had to rip out all but the first sixty rows in order to correct the problem.  Because this was going to be a gift, I ripped out the rows and made a huge ball of yarn to start over with.

After putting back a couple rows of the Blue, I decided to work on a new pocket wrap at the same time.  So I started another one with Aran yarn.  (color is a cross between ecru and ivory)  This way, I'll work on the Blue one for a while, then switch over to the Aran one for a while.   In between, I'll make scrubby cloths with my new scrubby yarn.

Today I'm waiting for just a few more items to arrive from my "paper goods" order from WalMart that I placed a few days ago.  That should take care of all the orders that I had placed.

Here's an image that I borrowed from the web.  It brought back memories.  This is how I used to bring in my laundry many years ago.  I did my laundry by hand in the tub or sink (until I finally got a washing machine), then hung everything outside on the clothesline.  In winter, everything would freeze.

Well, my eyes are getting tired now so I think I'll try to catch a few winks.  In the meantime, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Is It A Bird? Or Is It A Flower?

January 19, 2021

Good morning.  Tis still quite nippy here, but then I don't go out so it's okay.  My order from WalMart came yesterday with all the frozen items that I had ordered.  So maybe it was really just a computer glitch that was causing my ordering problems the other day.

I'm getting along better with my Ring.  It sends me alerts when things are happening in my neighborhood.  Things such as folks trying to get into parked cars, etc.  I do have lights on the cars in my yard all through the night.  It seems to help.

Today I need to watch for the mailman because I have a stack of bills to give him, plus a couple of cards.  I'm also watching for a few things to come in the mail.  Some paper goods that I had ordered separately from WalMart.com, and a new wrist blood pressure monitor.  I had a monitor, but after a couple of years it started to always have the same reading (which I already knew was wrong).  It was time for a new one.

Some states are already offering their residents the Covid vaccine.  Ours is not.  So far, I haven't found a schedule to see when it might be available to us older folks who do not live in nursing homes.  I'll keep looking.

My daughter Audrey sent me an adorable image of a flower that I had never heard of.  Isn't this a beautiful flower?

Daughter Deanne's little doggie is the same age as my Pogo.  She has lots of aches and pains from arthritis now, so we ordered her a self heating pad for her bed to see if it would help.  That item came in the mail yesterday and Deanne will come by today after work to pick it up.  I surely do hope that it helps.  But if it doesn't, then we'll order a regular heating pad that will fit in Sassy's bed.

I mostly live in my jammies, and I have lots and lots of them.  However, my supply is getting very low so now it's time again to do a load of laundry.   Some things I can wash in my sink, (and hang in my tub)  but not a whole bunch of jammies.  I'll see if Deanne will carry my laundry basket out to the laundry room for me when she gets here.

I have a cartoon to share with you that I borrowed from the web.  It just tickled my funny bone, it's so realistically human.

Now I'm off to do some blog reading.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Getting A Late Start Today

January 17, 2021

Good morning.  Brrrr!  Tis a cold one here in New England.  My phone app tells me that it is 41F degrees outside, but sitting here in my living room, it feels like 20F degrees.  Actually, today is a bit of a little heat wave for us because the temps are going to start dropping.

I have a lilac fuzzy blanket wrap (with sleeves) that zips up, and I guess that I'll be wearing it a lot for a while.   It's difficult to do things while I'm wearing this layer of warmth, so I'll be resting a lot till it warms up a bit.  (any excuse in a storm to snuggle under warm covers)

Last night, and again this morning, I tried to put together a grocery order to be delivered, but the rules are changing and WalMart is not letting frozen items to be delivered or picked up.  You have to go into the store now to buy these items.  I checked a couple other stores, but did not like the items or brands being offered.  This is not funny.  It puts a whole new crimp in my grocery shopping.

***I stopped here***started back up at 2:50 p,m,***

My daughter Deanne stopped by and we've been researching why these changes in the shopping.  I called WalMart and spoke to a manager who said he would look into it.  Deanne found a link online that actually fixed the problem, at least for today.  I was able to place an order for delivery.  (it was probably just a .com problem.)

Deanne found this online and I just had to share it here.  This is just too funny, and probably so true!

I also want to share this cute image that I borrowed from the web.  This is how us doggie parents do things.

Now I'm getting hungry and I want to do some blog reading.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Side-Tracked

January 15, 2021

Good morning.  You can't believe just how side-tracked I've been all morning.  I started typing this post, then remembered that I needed to send a message on my phone.  So I did that.  That made me think of something that I need to look for, so I did that.  Not finding the item that I want, I now go to Amazon to see if I can buy a new one.  This, of course, brings me to think of other things that I need to look up.  And so it goes........

Eventually I remember that I'm typing a post on my blog, so here I am.  If there's a medal given for being scatter brained, I've got a big one coming to me.  Not having any special purpose for the day just makes me even more scatter brained.  I'm a nuturer and I need to be taking care of someone or something.  It gives purpose to my days.

Yesterday was a day for making phone calls to straighten out bills.  A couple new bills came in that contained late fees and charges for late payments on them.  The were originally mailed out in plenty of time to arrive at their destinations on time.  However, these two companies insist that it took four weeks for them to receive these payments.

This cannot be my problem.  I cannot control the speed at which the Post Office works.  What I don't understand is how come I get the bill on time, but the return mail containing the payment takes several weeks to travel the same distance.  ?????

Today I watched an ad on TV that was trying to convince folks that now is a good time to look for a new house or apartment.  It made me wonder how many of the folks seeing this ad will actually make a new move.  And how many of them will think to take their pets with them.  You know, when you leave your pet behind, they most often will wait right there hoping that you will come back for them.  Please take them with you.  They are family.  (next image borrowed from web)

Till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

One Day At A Time

January 14, 2021

Good morning.  I want to thank everyone for your caring thoughts and wishes.  It means a great deal to me and is helping me to get through each day.  My Pogo was such a precious little bundle of happiness and joy.  His passing has left a huge hole in my heart.   I am so glad that I finally made a Pogo calendar.  I've wanted to do it for quite a while, and I'm just so glad that I finally did it.

I'm still floundering about a bit.  It's going to take me a while to get back on track and I'm working on it.  I've been searching online for a mask that I might be able to wear long enough to keep a doctor appointment.  I found a couple and ordered them.  One just came and I'll try to use it for a little while each day to see how it works out.

Yesterday, Deanne came for lunch and brought a spinach pizza with her.  Oh yum.  It didn't take us long to make short order of that pizza!  You know what's amazing?  If you buy a spinach pizza from ten different pizza shops, you'll get ten different versions of spinach pizza.  The ones with the most spinach on them taste the best.

On Tuesday afternoon, my "Ring" was chiming so I checked it.  Across the street, behind the houses and trees, the sun was starting to go down.  It was shining through trees and lighting up my porch with beautiful rays of light.  So I saved one of the photos that showed up on the "Ring."

Once the sun went down, the sky was a beautiful coral color.  I took this photo with my cell phone.

After that, my "Ring" stopped working.  The battery died.  ????  I thought it was supposed to last quite a bit longer.  Ah well, thank goodness I bought an extra battery for it.  I took it out and plugged it in to charge.  Yesterday, before Deanne left, she switched the batteries for me.

Today I'll leave you with a favorite recording by Willie Nelson.  It's called "It's Not Something You Get Over, But It's Something You Get Through."  He may be talking about people, but to me it's anyone or anything we love.

Till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Rest In Peace, My Precious Pogo

January 11, 2021

Good afternoon.  I've put off typing this post as long as I can.  Last night, my precious Pogo died while I was holding him in my arms.  I miss him so.

I'm taking a couple days off to wallow in my tears.  We've been leaning on each other for eight and a half years.  He was my best friend.  Rest in peace, my precious little man.  I'll see you soon.

Hugs, Edna B.

Counting Down Till Spring

January 10, 2021

Good morning.  Today is sunny and crispy.  Cold, that is.  But then it is Winter so this is normal.  Still, I'll be happier when Spring gets here with warmer temps.  Just 69 more days!  Woo Hoo!

I haven't done very much lately.  A little crocheting, some letter writing and some internet research.  I had a dish cloth not quite finished.  While I was looking at it, contemplating finishing it, I found a mistake way back almost to the beginning.  So, I ripped it all out and made it over.  It's orange, it's beautiful, it's for me.

Now I can't wait for all the new yarns to get here.  I have enough scrubby yarn to make a few more dish cloths with the first four colors.  Strawberry, Orange, Ice Pop and Avocado.  This can keep me busy until the new yarn gets here.

Does anyone know when Project Runway will be back on?  I looked it up an it said that it would be starting either in December 2020 or January 2021.  I can't find it listed anywhere.  Also, how about Heidi Klum's new program Making The Cut.  I can't find that listed anywhere either.   Any info about these two programs will be appreciated.

Before I leave to do some blog reading, let me share something that I borrowed from the web.  This is so true.  We can grumble all we want (talking about me!) but each new day is a gift to be cherished.

So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

The Ring

January 8, 2021

Good afternoon.  I'm getting a late start today.  I get started doing something, then I get side tracked.  My middle name should be "side tracked."  I think a lot of it lately is this "Ring" thing.  I'm finally getting used to the sound of it's ring, but it seems to ring all the time.  Sometimes it feels like I have the busiest yard in town.

When I hear the "ring" I turn my phone on, turn the "ring" on, then I press activate.  By now if there's anyone outside that should not be there, they've had plenty of time to get away.  This morning, one of the times that I turned it on there was a little bird outside on my hedge hopping around and chirping up a storm.  He was such a happy little fellow, I called him my mariachi bird.  He was out there twice this morning.

Every day, I try to catch the mailman on the "Ring" but so far I haven't had any luck.  It rings when he comes up to my porch, I turn on the phone and hurry to activate the "Ring."  When it comes on, there's no one outside by my porch.  As a matter of fact, the mailman has left my yard, gotten into his little truck and driven off.  Obviously I must be doing something wrong.  But what???

Here's a thought I borrowed from the web to share.  By the way, those smudges on the windows are called "nose art."  It's priceless.

Now I'm going to do some blog reading.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

A Visit To The Cardiologist

January 7, 2021

Good morning.  Yesterday I had a doctor appointment with a cardiologist.  The doctor's office was sending me to a different heart doctor than the one I saw last time.  Deanne and I were using the car's GPS system to find this new office.  Sadly, the GPS was not functioning very well and sent us all over creation.  Deanne finally found the doctor's office on her own.

I had been instructed to call the doctor's office when we arrived in the parking lot.  I did and was told I would get a call when they were ready for me to come inside the building.  My gut told me this wasn't going to go well because I cannot breathe with a mask on, and you could not go inside the building without a mask on.

It ended up that if and when I found a mask that I could wear and breathe with, I could call and make a new appointment.  So much for the appointment.  I called my regular doctor's office to explain and they said to find a mask and keep the appointment. So when I find a mask that lets me breathe, I'll make an appointment with the heart doctor that I first saw.

Here's something for you to ponder.  Are cucumbers vegetables, fruits or berries?  Cucumbers are "pepos" -  interestingly, pumpkins, zucchini, oranges, tangerines, lemons, limes, cantaloupes and watermelons are also pepos.  And they are berries, as they have one single ovary.  So, cucumbers are another kind of berry.  (information found on Google)

Before I go to read some blogs, here's a giggle for you.

So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Happy Birthday Jasmine

January 5, 2021

Good afternoon.    Today is Jazzy's birthday.  She's twenty one today.  Wow, how quickly those years flew by!  Jazzy, I'm wishing you a year filled with love and laughter, and health and happiness.  Happy Birthday, I love you.

My last missing Christmas box was delivered yesterday afternoon to Audrey.  I set up my Portal and got to watch them open their gifts.  This is what is so nice about the Portal.  Except for the "in person" hugs, I get to share everything with the kids.

The mailman brought me another yarn catalogue today.  Woo Hoo!  It sure doesn't take much to make me happy!  I could spend all day looking at all the pretty yarns.

Did anyone make new years' resolutions this year?  I don't, as a rule.  But I did find his one on the web and borrowed it to share with you.  I know I can keep this one!

And, here's a giggle for you.

Now I'm off to do some blog reading.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Good News! Good News!

January 4, 2021

Good morning.  SIL Eddie installed my new RING yesterday, and I've been playing with it all morning, trying to learn how to use it.  This gadget doesn't come with a user manual to show you how to use it.  It does tell you how to connect and install it.  After that, you are on your own to find out how to use it.

So far, I've found a few places with information.  I did find a manual but it only tells how to install the gadget.  Now I'm watching for the mailman to come with the mail.  I want to try talking to him using the gadget's speaker system.  This part can be fun.

I'm watching the recycle bins being emptied into the truck out front. (Via my new gadget)   Wow!  That was really cool!  Earlier, I was able to see when the fuel oil truck was here.  Normally, the guy just fills my oil tank, leaves a bill and goes on his way.  I never even know he's been here till I find the bill. I do believe I'm going to enjoy this new gadget.

Today I have good news!!!  My last misplaced Christmas box has been moving finally and will be delivered to Audrey either today or tomorrow.  Woo Hoo!  The USPS contacted Audrey yesterday with the good news.

Here's an interesting article that I borrowed from the web and thought you might enjoy.

Now I'm off to do some blog reading.  Till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

One Package Delivered, One Package To Go.

January 3, 2021

Good morning.  Tis early, only a little after four a.m.  As long as I'm awake, I've decided to type my post now then I can try to catch a few more winks.

So, what have I been doing these past couple days?  Well, Friday I spent quite a bit of time going through my new yarn catalogue.  One color that I've decided on for a new project is pink.  I haven't used that color for a while.  Of course, I'll have to spend more time with the catalogue to pick more colors.

One of my packages that has been sitting in New Jersey has finally been delivered.  My great granddaughter Alena has been waiting patiently for her Christmas present which finally got delivered yesterday.  Here's a photo of her in her new poncho.  Do you think she likes it?  Yup! Yup!

Now I'm just waiting for one more box to be delivered.  It's for everyone at daughter Audrey's house.  It would be wonderful if it could get delivered this week.  I can dream, right?

I thought I would share a photo of my cousin Anita's husband (Ray) with the hat and neck warmer set that I made for him.  His favorite color is hunter green, and yes, he loves his new things.

Yesterday, my grocery order from WalMart was delivered.  The only out of stock items were my baking potatoes.  Not bad at all.  I got part of the order put away when Deanne and Eddie came by.  Deanne finished putting the rest of the order away for me.

They were here to install and set up my new RING.  Eddie did run into a snag though, so they will be back later this morning to finish.  I will have to take notes on how to use this new gadget.  In my younger years, I could catch on to new things quickly, but not so anymore.

I must confess that yesterday I was really a wicked grump.  My back was sore and my temperament was terribly cranky.  I mean cranky with a capital C.  Remember the child's poem "There was a girl, Who had a curl, Right in the middle of her forehead.  And when she was good, She was very very good, And when she was bad, She was horrid."  Yup, that was me! (horrid)

I've been reading my new book "Marilyn Monroe" but it's slow going.  This is a big book.  There are 445 pages, then another 19 pages of index.  And some of it is sort of boring.  But, I'll read a few pages at a time and get through it.  This should keep me busy till Spring.  hahahaha.

There was a brand new coupon in my email this morning from Blog2Print, so I guess I'll start working on my new blog book.   This is a 40% off coupon.  My kind of bargain!

That's my news for today.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

January 1, 2021

Good morning.  Happy New Year to everyone.  Here's hoping that 2021 is a good year for all of us.   Here's the first page from my new calendar.

One thing I'm hoping for is that the program reruns that have been taken off WE TV and ION are put back soon.  They've taken away my favorites.  Boo Hoo!

Yesterday I took the first dose of Vitamin D and Potassium.  I marked it as Day One in my daily book.  I wonder how many doses does it take before one stops feeling tired.  Only a few, I hope.

I tried crocheting last night but I just wasn't in the mood.  Maybe later today.  I'm feeling really lazy so maybe I'll just do a lot of relaxing today.  Even Pogo is having a lazy day.  Gosh, we make quite a couple!

The new yarn catalogue arrived a couple days ago so I think I'll spend some time looking at it, just in case I need new yarn for new projects.  aha, aha.  I also want to figure out how to take a photo of my pocket wrap.  I don't do selfies very well.

Tomorrow my new grocery order should arrive around noon.  Hopefully, nothing will be out of stock.  Because I have to watch my sodium intake, I don't allow substitutions.  Usually, though, pretty much all of my order is received.

That's about it for news today, so I'm off to do some blog reading.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.
