Happy Leap Year Day & Happy Belated Birthday Aurora

February 29, 2020

Good morning.  Today is "D" day, and it's also Leap Year Day.   It will be four more years before we have a Leap Year again.  And, in thirty one more hours, Pogo and I will land in Sunny Florida.  Woo Hoo!

I know it's Saturday, but I thought I'd post today because tomorrow morning I won't have time to sit at my laptop.  It's already "jitter" time.  There's so much to do.  Did I do this?  Or that?  Oh gosh, I just know that I'll forget to do so many things.  Well, at this point it doesn't matter anymore.  Whatever got done, got done.  Anything else will just have to wait till Pogo and I get back.

I've made my "last minute to pack" list, which I will tend to today.  And, I'll bring Pogo's stroller in from the porch and make sure it's all clean and ready to go with us.  It will double as a stroller for Pogo and a walker for me.  I just need something to hold on to when I'm walking.

Deanne sent me some wonderful news last evening.  Yup, it's "brag time" again.  Jazzy's college is going to be nominating her for the "All-USA Academic Team" in Boston on April 8th.  This is sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

https://support.ptk.org/hc/en-us/articles/360001367253-2019-2020-All-USA-Academic-Team-Applicant-Guide?mobile_site=true

Just copy the above link into the search bar at Google and it will be take you to the guide that explains this award.

Then Deanne sent me this awesome item about Kevin.  Kevin follows his Dad's footsteps and is an electrician.  His journeyman took this photo of Kevin at his job in Boston.  From time to time, he takes photos and posts them on the local 103 IBEW website.

After giving me all this wonderful news, Deanne sent me photos of my great granddaughter enjoying her fourth birthday.  Oh no!  Guess what I forgot?  Michael and I had twenty grandchildren, and now there are twelve great grandchildren too.  No wonder I forget!  Tsk, tsk, tsk.  I will send Aurora a  birthday gift today.

This is Aurora wearing her new Cat Boy mask (one of the characters on the cartoon P.J.Masks). Happy Birthday Sweetie, Meema loves you.

Tomorrow is the beginning of another brand new month, March.  I'm posting my calendar page for March today just in cast I can't get back to blogging right away.

You know I'm packing my camera with hopes of getting lots of super new photos to share.  When Audrey arrives, I'm hoping we can get out and about once or twice to find lots of new flora and fauna to photograph.

Well, it's time for me to shake my booty and get busy here.  So, till Monday, (I hope) Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs,  Edna B.

Oh My, Just Two Days Till Florida!

February 28, 2020

Good morning.  The sun is shining and the temperature is 31F degrees.  And there's only today and tomorrow to get ready to leave for vacation.  Oh dear!  I still have so much to do.  Folks, don't get old any faster than you have to.  You'll slow down and never quite get things done on time anymore.

Well, at least that's what is happening here.  I've slowed down so much!  Normally I wouldn't care but there are times when I would like to move quicker than I do.  Like now.  Wouldn't it be nice if I could just wiggle my nose (like on Bewitched) and get everything done on time?  Believe me, I've tried, but wiggling my nose just makes me sneeze!

Yesterday, Deanne sent me a photo of an item that was in the newspaper.  It was about the Paris Cabaret and the current show, Malt Shop Memories.

Here's the original photo that was published.

There was also an article about the upcoming show, Bye Bye Birdie.  Here's a photo of the cast for that show.  (I'll be going to see it towards the end of March)  Our Jazzy is bottom right in both photos.

Well, our suitcase is packed.  There's only a few little things to put in it.  I packed light and left plenty of room for my yarn projects to fit in the suitcase.  Now I won't have to mail a box to myself with all my yarn projects.

Today, I need to go over all the bills to see if any will have to be paid while I'm away.  If so, I'll leave checks with Deanne and she will take care of them.  Yesterday, I was able to order groceries to be delivered to my condo after Pogo and I get there.  It took a while to figure out how to do it, but I managed.

I also called the oxygen company to make sure they will have my oxygen concentrator delivered Sunday.  They said I needed a two week notice. This was news to me, but they finally said they would try.

Tomorrow, Deanne will come by to make sure everything is all set and we'll go over any last minute things.  I would love to take her with me.  She surely could use some time in the warm sunshine to just relax.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading before getting into my daily mischief.  I just might post here tomorrow because I know I won't have time Sunday morning to do it.   If I don't post right away from Florida, please be patient with me.  I'll be trying to learn my way around my little laptop.  In any case, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

So Much To Do, So Little Time

February 27, 2020

Good morning.  It's looking rather gray outside my door.  I just looked at the calendar and oh my gosh!  I only have three days left to get things done and be gone.  How does the time get away from me?  I used to be so good at this packing thing, but nowadays I am so slow.

It seems that I've become somewhat scatterbrained lately.  I do start things, but it takes forever to finish them.  I get side tracked so easily.  Of course this does not apply to the fun stuff, like crocheting or reading.  It's easy to stick with that.

I've started my grocery list that I shall order tomorrow for Florida.  And today I'll do one or two loads of laundry.  I'd like to leave all the blankets, etc. nice and clean for when we get back.  I also want to make my "pack" list to make sure I don't forget anything.

Last night, I worked a bit on the second little poncho.  I've decided on Lime and Bejeweled for the colors.  Both ponchos are almost finished.  I just have to check with Deanne to make sure of the girls' heights.  Here,s a photo of the two ponchos so far.

Here's an update on Nutmeg and Pickles.  They seem to be getting along a bit better now.  Except when it comes to food.  Nutmeg has a thing about eating everything in sight.  It makes me wonder if she was starved as a baby.  I sure hope she grows out of it.  Here are a couple photos that Deanne sent to me.  The first one shows the two kittens resting.  Pickles on the left and Nutmeg on the right.

And this is Nutmeg looking for more food to eat.  It must be awful to always be hungry.  I do know that she eats well in her new home.

I'm off to do a bit of blog reading now.  In case I haven't said it in a while, I really do appreciate all the comments that everyone leaves.  I look forward to reading them.  Having blog friends is very much like having an extended family.  I love reading their blogs every day, meeting their families and taking photo trips with them.  So, to all of you, thank you.

Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Spring Is Springing!

February 26, 2020

Good morning.  Today is going to be another of "those" days.  My laptop has already erased my post once.  This is my second time typing it.  It's gray and 41F degrees today, and we may have a sprinkle this morning.

I called the new Walmart in Kissimmee yesterday and had a lovely chat with the store manager about delivering the groceries to my door.  She assured me that they pick only the freshest foods and that the delivery is less than $10.  I just have to place my order a couple days ahead.  So, this Friday I will place my order to be delivered after Pogo and I get to the condo.

I've been asked about the new meds that Pogo is on.  Pogo has a wicked allergy to fleas, but he has had some bad reactions to all the different flea meds that we've tried over the years.  Now we are trying NexGard K9 Sm.  We've also started him on Apoquel for the constant itch.  So far it seems to be working really well.

Steve, you certainly did see lots of girls wearing a poncho like the ones I'm working on.  My pattern book was published in 1970.  It's called The Gypsy Crochet Thing."  I made lots of these ponchos back in the seventies, so I figure it's time to re-invent them.  My great granddaughters are going to look awesome in them.

As promised, here are some photos showing the tiny green shoots coming up in my garden and the new buds on some of my trees.

And, look who is coming out of hiding to keep watch over all the new little plants.  Yup, it's the Stone brothers, two tiny rabbits who look after the garden.  Don't you just love that adorable grin?

I worked on the little poncho last evening, and I think it only needs a few more rows.  I did do a couple rows of  "Crushed Berries" that looks really nice with the Raspberry yarn.  I'll take a photo to share when it is finished.

My favorite lawyer program, Perry Mason, is on the TV now and I'm off to watch it.   So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Birthday Mac, Happy Anniversary Mac And Audrey

February 25, 2020

Good morning.  Tis cloudy today, but warm.  The temperature is 42F degrees and the sun should be in and out as the temp warms up a bit.  And, guess what?  There are little green plant shoots coming up in my garden.  I'll share a photo tomorrow.

Today is my SIL Mac's birthday.  It's also Mac and Audrey's wedding anniversary.  They were married in a Heart Wedding with their motorcycle group.  Mac, I'm wishing you a very Happy Birthday.  To both of you I'm wishing many many more happy years together.  I love you.  This is a photo from Mac and Audrey's Heart Wedding many years ago.

It's busy here.  I'm trying to get as many things done before it's time to leave for Florida.  Joe will take care of my plants.   He and Deanne will take care of my mail and things in the house.  I just have to go to Town Hall and pick up Pogo's duplicate license tag (I lost the first one) and get busy with the suitcase.

I want to wash all the blankets again later this week.  My taxes are almost ready for the accountant. I have to start adding the columns and check that I have everything.  My appointment with the accountant is for the week that I get back from vacation.  I guess I'm about as ready as I can be.

Pogo's new doctor called yesterday to see how he is doing on the new meds.  I said the meds appear to be helping quite a bit.  We're looking forward to Pogo's next appointment in the Spring.  I'll be interested to see if Pogo gains a few more ounces.  He only weighs four pounds six ounces.  He weighed a little more when he was only eating hamburg.  (about a half pound more)

My good friend Mary Ann sent me a link with this doggy photo.  Oh my, it is just adorable!  This is a self portrait by Vincent van Dog.  Thank you Mary Ann, it brings such a big smile to my face.

I thought I'd share a photo of the child's poncho that I'm working on.  I may add a few rows of an accent color.  I haven't decided yet.

That's my news for today.  I have some phone calls to make and then it's time to make friends with my vacuum cleaner.  Those dust bunnies aren't going to like me very much today.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Just Twenty Four Days Till Spring!

February 24, 2020

Good morning.  It's early, but today is supposed to be a magnificent day!  Temps should reach almost to sixty degrees.  Of course. after today Winter will be back.  BUT, Spring is only twenty four days away.  Just twenty four tiny little days!  Woo Hoo!

Well, the colors for the skirts has been decided.  Jazzy will get Golden Rod Yellow and Lilah will get Flamingo.  Kathy, you picked the right colors!  Last evening, I ordered the yarn and the knitting needles.  These will be packed away in my suitcase.  Now I can't wait to get started on this new project.

I am working on one of the ponchos.  So far, it is coming along nicely.  However, today I really need to buckle down and get some things done around here.  I know next Sunday morning is going to come and I'll have a whole list of things that I did not get done.  Ah, the blessings of old age!

Did you ever meet a total stranger, and all of a sudden you felt like you'd known this person your whole life?  Yesterday afternoon, a couple came by to see about a room for their adult son (who was working) and as soon as they came into the house I felt like I already knew them.

These folks were the same age as my children, and they live in the next town over.  The husband went to the same elementary school that I went to, and grew up very close to the street that I lived on until I was almost thirteen.  I must say, we sat at the kitchen table and gabbed for hours.  Interesting.

I have an update on the flu and wicked colds that have been keeping everyone in Deanne's house sick for the last few weeks.  They are finally getting better.  Whatever viruses that came around were really nasty.

Here is an image that I borrowed from the web to share with you.  It's message is powerful, yet simple.  If you see anyone or anything being abused, don't walk away, do something.  Please.

And here's another little bit that I borrowed from web.  It's such a happy thought.  Give it a try and see if it doesn't lift you from the doldrums on a rainy day.

Now I think I'll finish my coffee and find some mischief to get into.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Oh My, What A Beautiful Day!

February 23, 2020

Good morning.  Tis a beautiful day today.  The sun is shining and the temperature is 44F degrees and headed to 50F degrees.  Woo Hoo!   Tomorrow is supposed to be nice too.

Well, it's been a busy weekend so far.  I did a couple loads of laundry, worked on my tax stuff, cooked up a pot of spaghetti, reserved my rental car in Florida and crocheted a bit.  Pogo is on his new meds, and I'm hopeful that they will help.  Especially with this allergy to fleas.

I spray and wash Pogo's blankets all the time, but the fleas manage to come in anyway.  And that makes my poor little guy scratch.  And that makes his hair fall out.  Oh no!!  This is day two on the meds and already he is not scratching as much.  And that makes his mommy happy.

I spent the wee hours this morning deciding on what projects to work on while I'm in Florida.  I've picked out two so far.  I made this little knitted skirt many many moons ago, and I'd like to try making it again.  I'm thinking it would look cute with a pair of leggings and a pretty top.

I've narrowed my color choices down to these four.  Only two will do, I just don't know which two yet.  If they come out good, I'll give them to granddaughter Jazzy and great granddaughter Lilah.

The other project I'd like to make are ponchos for great granddaughters Alima and Aurora.  One color will be Raspberry, and I'm not sure about the other one yet.

So that's what I've been up to.  I've been wanting to work on these projects for quite some time now so I think this is the year that I'll do it.

Today I want to call down to the new WalMart supercenter that is right near my condo and find out what is involved in getting groceries delivered.  Maybe I could call ahead and have an order ready to be delivered shortly after Pogo and I arrive.  Tomorrow I'll call to set up my oxygen concentrator delivery to the condo.  After that, it's time to start packing.

Now I'm off to see what sort of mischief I can get into today.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Oooh! Wild Berry Pancakes!

February 21, 2020

Good morning.  It's six o'clock and I've been up for a couple hours.  I thought it best if I stayed up.  If I tried to catch a few more winks, I'd probably sleep right through Pogo's doctor appointment.  I wanted to give Pogo a bath last night but it has been so cold and I don't want him to catch a cold.  I hope the doctor understands this.

I think I've figured out one big reason why it has been getting so cold in here this year.  Every year, the porch is closed up, and the screen door is also covered with heavy duty plastic.  This year, we did not cover the screen door.  Therefore, all the cold air goes right in to the porch and tries to come in here via the covered up air conditioner.  I won't make this mistake next winter.

Yesterday, I called my tax accountant and got the answering machine.  I left a message, and he called me back last evening.  He broke his hip and is in the hospital.  Oh my, this is so awful.  He's not a young fellow, so this is going to set him back for quite a while.  Ron, I'm sending prayers that you heal quickly.  Today I will call his office again and see if someone else in the office can do my taxes.

I can't chat for long this morning.  I have things to do before getting dressed for Pogo's appointment.  Gosh, we're not looking forward to going out in the cold.  The temperature right now is 14F degrees, and with the wind chill it is 5F degrees.  It might get up into the high twenties later today.  Brrrr!

It's almost planting time for lots of folks, so I thought this might be a great help in figuring what to plant to attract butterflies and hummingbirds.

Plus I thought this might be a nice way to make some different flavored pancakes.  (also borrowed from the web)  Those Wild Berry pancakes sound delicious!

Now I really must get going here.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Today is 2-20-2020

February 20, 2020

Good morning.  Such an interesting date today!  Well, I'm in a better mood this morning.  Of course, I just got on this laptop.  But, I will try to keep my cool whenever the cursor jumps around in my typing.

I want to thank everyone for their help and suggestions.  So far, I'm trying whatever I can.  For some reason, when I look things up on Google about Windows 10, their images don't match the ones on my laptop.  Is there more than one Windows 10?  Aye yi yi!

My grandson Kevin is coming by Friday after work to try to put the rest of my stuff into my little laptop.  I will ask him if he knows anything about the touch pad and how to disable it.  Meanwhile, I'll just deal with it.

Folks, if I post tomorrow, it will be late.  Pogo's doctor appointment is early in the morning.  The temperatures are supposed to be colder, so I don't know how I'll be feeling when we get back home.  The cold makes it difficult for my breathing.  If the cold gives me a problem, I'll most likely go to bed for a while when we get home.

Yesterday I decided to work on my tax stuff some more.  Oh my, I had thought I was almost done with it.  As it turns out, there was still lots to do.  I spent quite a while on it before setting it aside.  I'll see about spending more time on it this afternoon.

Meanwhile, I seem to have misplaced Pogo's new license tag.  If I don't find it today, I'll have to call Town Hall to see if I can get another one.  I don't know if they give out replacements, but I'll soon find out.

For Steve, I looked up your Borage plant and found this photo of the Borago Officinalis in bloom. I'm curious if this is what your plant will look like when it blooms.  It's not listed in my Herbal book, so I'm guessing it has no healing qualities.  But it sure is pretty.

Now it's time for me to get busy around here.  First let me share this giggle that I borrowed from the web.  It's always a great idea to start one's day with a smile.

So, till tomorrow (I'll try) Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

February 19, 2020

Good morning.  Sad to say, I was halfway through typing this post, and the whole thing disappeared.  Poof!  Either there is some key on this keyboard that I must touch accidently that erases my words, or this laptop is jinxed.  It's been doing this for quite a while now and I find it extremely aggravating.

Because of that, this will be a very short post.  I have a lot to do today.  I'm sorry for my grumpy mood now but this laptop is very annoying.  I'm thinking all my problems have to do with the touch pad.  I don't know how to turn it off, and it causes me a lot of grief when I'm typing.  When I get back from vacation, I'm going to take this laptop to the computer store and see if they can shut off the touch pad.

On that note, I'm off to do some more laundry.  So, till tomorrow Y'all have a fantabulous day.

So Much Candy To Pick From

February 18, 2020

Good morning.  Tis gray outside today and the temperature is 33F degrees.  I just looked at my weather app and it doesn't look anything like the weather forecast on the TV this morning.  The forecast on my phone app is so depressing.  I guess I'll just have to stop looking at my phone app for a while.

I got up early today, but I spent the morning so far paying bills.  Such a depressing way to start your day!  I had such big plans for yesterday, but alas, I did not follow through on them.  So, in a few minutes, I'm going to put the first load into the washing machine.  Hopefully, that will get me in the mood to do more chores.

While looking around on FaceBook, I found this picture and borrowed it to share s here.  This really breaks my heart.  What is wrong with people?  It's damn cold outside and our animals belong indoors with us.  So please folks, if it's too cold outside for you then you know it's too cold for our animals.  Bring them in!

I also found this next image and thought I would share it for all us cat lovers.  There's nothing quite like having a kitty or a doggy stretched out on your lap just looking for hugs and loves.

Last evening I worked on the navy afghan for a little while, then I spent some time looking through the yarn catalogue to decide on the colors for my next afghans.  It's like putting a child in the middle of a penny candy store and telling him/her to pick out a few pieces of candy to last the week.  It's such a difficult decision to make.

Needless to say, I did not make any final decisions.  There's just so much beautiful yarn to pick from.  What's a girl to do???  I guess maybe I'll have to make a trip to Joanne's Yarn shop and pick out some yarn to put in my suitcase.  I'll be wanting to work on something while I'm in Florida.

Now I'm going to watch the rest of Perry Mason on TV before starting the laundry.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy President's Day

February 17, 2020

Good morning.  The sun is shining and the temperature is 35F degrees.  It may even get up to 40F degrees this afternoon.  I'm hoping that a batch of energy comes along with this sunshine.  I have so much to do these next two weeks.

Today is President's Day.  It's a day to celebrate all past and present Presidents.  We also celebrate the birthdays of President Lincoln and President Washington.

It looks like my friend Beth won't be joining Pogo and me in Florida.  She needs to have more surgery on her eye.  Flying may cause more problems for the health of her eyes.  It's going to be rather lonely without her there.  We do have a lot of fun.  Audrey will be joining me and Pogo for the second week.  I'm looking forward to spending the time with her.

I borrowed a really cute cartoon from the web to share here.  I had to laugh because this is how it is when I try to give Pogo his meds.

The only way to get something into Pogo's mouth is to hold his head still.  However, we can't do that because it stops him from breathing and he will turn blue.  So, I do the best I can and get as much of the medicine in him as I can.  Sometimes I do good, most times I don't.  Although I am getting better at putting drops into his eye.  (for the cataract)

One of these days, I'd like to make another photo doll.  Quite some time ago, I made a couple of these.  One for my granddaughter Jasmine and one for my great granddaughter Hailey.  Today I'll post the pattern in case anyone wants to try making one of these dolls.  If you do, please share a photo of the finished doll.  Have fun.

Now I'm going to watch the rest of Perry Mason before getting started on today's chores.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Another Rising Star

February 16, 2020

Good morning.  It's gray outside, but my weather app says the sun will come out and temps will warm up to the high thirties.  Hang in there, Spring is only 32 more days away.

A reader commented that I should have posted a "today" photo of Kevin along with the cupid photo of him.  Beatrice, you are absolutely right!  I thought of it afterward, but I had already shut off my laptop.  So I've updated the cupid photo.  (He's an electrician busy at work on a building in Boston.)

Well, we have another rising star in our family.  My great granddaughter Lilah loves the stage, and performed in a show last evening.  (and today)  This is one of the posters that the kids made.

This is Lilah on the right, and the next photo is Lilah after the show.  We are all so very proud of our Lilah.

I haven't really accomplished very much lately.  When it gets this cold, my energy is non-existent.  Hopefully, I can get a few things done today.  There's so little time left before Pogo and I leave for Florida, and so much to do.

Last night, I worked on the lapghan until I ran out of yarn.  Actually, it is long enough to be done, but I wanted to put a few more rows on it.  So, I'll go online today and order a small skein.  I'd like to mail the lapghan off to my friend before I leave for Florida.  I'm making this one for my friend Nani in Ohio.  I just hope she likes it.  It's the first one I've made with cotton yarn.

A while ago, I planted a light pink Amaryllis.  A few days ago, it blossomed.  Oh my, what a beauty it is!  It has six blossoms and is just gorgeous.

Now I think I'll refresh my cup of coffee and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Valentine's Day

February 14, 2020

Good morning, and Happy Valentine's Day.  How about an adorable cupid to start your day off right?  Isn't he a cutie?  Yup, this is my grandson Kevin.  Imagine this two pound miracle growing up into a tall handsome fellow!

I have to share a funny photo with you.  Deanne sent this to me last evening.  It's Sassy and Nutmeg.  They don't really get along very well with each other, but it is snack time.  According to Deanne, they are both greedy and will tolerate each other long enough to get their snacks.

Yesterday, on her way to work, Deanne stopped by to bring me a bag of goodies and a gorgeous rose plant.  In the bag were two containers of green tea and some chocolate truffles.  Well, you know those truffles never lasted past supper time!  And that rose is beautiful.  I've never seen one this color.

Isn't this beautiful?  Let's hope I can keep it alive until it's warm enough to put it outside.  Alas, my green thumb done died a long time ago.

Today Pogo and I are going to enjoy a quiet day.  The weatherman says that tonight is going to be the coldest night of the year so far, and it will be cold for a while.  I think we'll be spending a lot of time under the big orange comforter till the deep freeze is over.

I think I'll cook up a pot of pasta.  Lately, Pogo has taken to wanting a bit of pasta on his plate of doggy food, and I have a hankering for some pasta too.  Hmm, just talking about it is making me hungry.

Well, that's my news for this morning.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

I'm Enjoying The Re-Runs

February 13, 2020

Good morning.  Today is gray and wet, and the temperature is 35F degrees.  It's a great day to watch TV.   I just finished watching Matlock, and next is In The Heat Of The Night.  When these programs were originally aired on TV, I was usually too busy to have time to watch them.  So I'm really enjoying them now.

Yesterday was another lost day.  I think my salt intake may have been a bit too low.  When it is, I get to feeling a bit disoriented.  I resolve the problem by eating something with normal salt content and staying off my feet.  It always works.

Today, Deanne, Eddie and Kevin are all sick with colds.  I can't wait for this winter to be over.  It seems that everyone around me is sick.  Gosh, with all these new viruses, it's getting harder and harder to not get sick.

It's time for something lighter, and fun.  I borrowed this gem from the internet.  Gosh, there is so much truth in it!  hahahahaha.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day.  Do you have someone special that you'd like to have for your Valentine?  If not, here's something I found on the web.

Do you have a neighbor who is lonely?  How about dropping by to see them for a little visit?  That's better than a gift.  How about making a home-made valentine to bring to that person?  You'd be surprised to see how much a little bit of your time can change a person's whole outlook on life.  Try it, you'll like it!

I'm off now to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Tis A Pretty Day Today

February 12, 2020

Good morning.  The sun is shining and temps are going to reach 40F degrees by mid afternoon.  It's really pretty outside today.  Years ago, Pogo and I would have already been out in the car and headed for the park to take photos of the birds.  I miss that.

Well, yesterday did not go as planned.  Things popped up that needed to be taken care of and took up most of the day.  Needless to say, the pile of receipts did not get sorted and listed.  I'll try to get that done today.

I did call the car rental place in Florida to make my reservation but their computer was down so I have to call back later today.  I guess I'll start packing the suitcase soon now.  I also need to call the oxygen company to let them know when to deliver the oxygen concentrator to my condo in Florida.

My friend Beth is having surgery on her eye today, and I'm hoping it all goes well.   My friend Angelica is also not doing so good and had to spend a day in the ER recently.  She's home now, and feeling better I hope.  I'm sending prayers for both of you ladies.  Please be well and stay well.

I've borrowed a couple items from the web to share with you.  I absolutely love this one.

Growing older sometimes has its own unique problems.  I found this next article rather comical because I've done this myself.  By accident, of course.  I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing until I tried to stand up.  Aye yi yi!

Now I'm off to read some blogs before getting started on today's chores.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Drab Can Be Good

February 11, 2020

Good morning.  I'm off to a late start this morning because I just did not want to wake up from such a blissful sleep.  Gosh, I'm sounding so poetic this morning.    Even Pogo did not want to get up yet.  Maybe it's because it is so drab outside.  Wet and gray with temps of 39F degrees.

Yesterday was a rather quiet day with no outstanding feats of accomplishment.  Actually, a lot of my days are like that.  But it's okay.  A drab day is much better than the alternative.  Today, I hope, will be much more productive.

This morning, I already called about a car reservation.  They are updating their computer so I have to call them back in an hour.  After that call back, I need to continue working on last year's receipts.  I'd like to be done with them by supper time.

Yesterday, I mentioned that a second book had come in the mail.  This one is so awesome!  It's called "The Lost  Book Of Herbal Remedies."  Just about everything that grows in nature is listed in this book.  There really are no weeds.  Everything has either medicinal or food value, or both.

I am so enjoying this book.  Did you know that Giant Burdock has many medicinal uses?  We used to call this plant "sticky burrs."   Parts of this plant are edible, and it is also used in cancer treatments.  When my brother and I were children, the lady next door used to cook dandelions for us.  Topped with a bit of butter and vinegar, they were sooooo delicious!   (I just looked this book up on Amazon, and they only have used copies starting at $120.00  Choke, choke.  I bought my book for $40.00)

Deanne was driving through the park a few nights ago and took this beautiful photo of the moon reflecting on the water.  Deanne, this is lovely.  Thank you for sharing.

Well, that's my news for today.  It will soon be time for brunch and I think I'll do some blog reading before making something to eat.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Thank You, Kevin. You Are Awesome!

February 10, 2020

Good morning.  It's wet and gray and 39F degrees outside my door.  I may or may not go out to do an errand today  We'll see how it goes as the day goes by.  One thing I won't be doing is calling the computer store.

Yesterday, my grandson Kevin came by and fixed the picture on my TV.  Next, he opened my little laptop and started fixing that too.  He got my email working, and then put some of my programs in for me.  When it was time for him to leave, he promised to come back another day and put a few more things in it for me.  Have I ever mentioned how awesome this young man is?  I am so blessed.

Here's a photo of Kevin working on my little laptop.  You'll have to excuse the yellow shading, it's from the table lamp.

While Kevin was here, the mail carrier brought me a new book that I had ordered.  This one is called "My Windows 10 Tablet."  I like this book because it's very similar to the "Simplified" books.  Everything that is explained has a picture to show you what the author is talking about.

I've already looked up a couple things in this book.  So far, so good. Yup, I think I'm going to like this book.

Now all I have to do is call to reserve a rental car in Florida.  Then it will be time to start packing our suitcase.  Pogo's things are ready.  He just has to get his travel paper.  These three weeks are going to fly by.

Today I will go through all of last year's receipts and get them all listed into columns.  Then I need to call my accountant and make an appointment to take everything to him once I get back from Florida.  If I get really rambunctious, (there's an old word you don't hear too often) I'll put this year's expenses in columns in my "tax" notebook.  We'll see.

This morning I need to help Pogo get his valentines ready to mail.  They really are cute.  I remember Valentine's Day parties when I was in grammar school.  We would give valentines out to everyone and have cupcakes and candy.

Another great book that I had ordered came yesterday too, but I'll save that for tomorrow's post.  Perry Mason is coming on in a few minutes and I'm planning on watching it.  I'm going to make a hot cup of coffee now.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Another New Book!

February 9, 2020

Good morning.  It's only 6:27 am, and it is still dark outside.  I've been on the phone for a couple hours now trying to find out what is wrong with my cable TV picture.  It went out around 4 am, and it hasn't come back on yet.  It's annoying.

Friday afternoon, right after lunch, I started to do some serious work on my tax stuff, and worked on it until around 7:30 in the evening.  Then I put it away for the night.  After supper, I got to crochet for a while, and do a bit of reading about Abraham Lincoln.

Yesterday morning, Deanne came by and took Pogo and me shopping at Ocean State Job Lot.  Oh, what fun we had!  The only thing I could not get was the bird food.  I'll have to try getting it at the store closer to here.

I did find a new book that looked really interesting.  This one is called "EAT THIS, NOT THAT!"  It's good information to have for anyone trying to eat healthy.  There are other books like this available on Amazon.  (That's the only place I checked.  I'm sure it can be found on other sites.)

I'll post a few of the tips from the book every now and then in case anyone is interested.  Here's one that I did not know.

Most of the items in the book also list the sodium content.  This is the part that interests me.   One of my favorite pasta dishes is Fettuccini Alfredo.  Note the huge difference in calories between these two dishes, and the much lower sodium count in the Fettuccini Alfredo meal.

After that, we stopped at a Dollar Store and I got me a new batch of word find puzzle books, plus a few other odds and ends.  Pogo picked up a box of valentines so that he can send a few to his favorite doggie and human friends.  This was a really nice outing for Pogo and me.

Deanne's update on the new kitten is that Nutmeg is a Piggie!  She eats everything in sight.  If Deanne won't give her more food, Nutmeg goes running to Eddie and purrs hungrily in his face so that he will go get her more food.  This is going to be one really fat kitty cat!  But, she is ever so lovable.  She just loves to cuddle.

That wicked wind storm that came through here caused a lot of problems.  Every town and city around here lost electric power in part, or most, of the homes and businesses.  We were lucky not to lose the power in my part of the town.

Now I think I'll refresh my cup of coffee and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
