A Fun Recipe For You

July 23, 2021

Good morning.  Today is really quite lovely.   It's supposed to be sunny with temps in the seventies all day.  A perfect summer day.

Well, the groceries came yesterday.  I had forgotten to check the "no substitutes" so they substituted four of my items for similar items.  I can't complain because I should have known better.  I'll have to be more careful next time.

Well, I decided to make a couple more pocket wraps to put in my Christmas tote.  Here are the two colors I've decided to use.  Daffodil and Raindrops (from Herrschners).

I started both of these pocket wraps last night, and oh my, they sure are pretty!  They'll keep me busy until I can decide on a new project.

Today I'll share a few more photos of the flowers in my yard.  Some lilies and a pink rose.

I found an interesting recipe in my "Spa Apothecary" book that I thought I would share with you.  It's for a dry shampoo.  Some of us can't wash our hair and be in a room or building that is air conditioned while our hair is wet, so dry shampoo can be very useful.

Ingredients (for Light Hair):  2/3 cup cornstarch, 4 drops of an essential oil of your choice.

Ingredients (for Dark Hair):  2/3 cup cornstarch, 2/3 cup cocoa powder, 4 drops of an essential oil of your choice.

Directions:  Mix all ingredients in a small jar with a shaker top.  Sprinkle on your hairbrush or directly on your roots and brush through.  Be sure to clean your brush regularly.  This mixture will be enough for approximately twenty uses.

If anyone tries this recipe, let me know what you think of it.

Now I'm off to enjoy some blog reading.  In a few hours, we'll be off to lunch at the Olive Garden.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I love the daffodil yellow for the pocket wrap the most. It'll not only keep someone warm in the colder months but should bring joy by it's cheerful color. Olive Garden sounds really good to me right now. I hope you enjoy lunch with your daughter and her friend! Really, how could you not? ha!

Your thread colors are just gorgeous. That is very interesting about the dry shampoo recipe. When I was in hospital recently, I had to go several days without washing my hair. This recipe would have come in handy! I hope you ladies enjoy Olive Garden today. I just now saw an advertisement on tv and it made me hungry! Have a blessed weekend. Mildred

I love the hair recipe because it is different. In the 70's we had one that was similar. I don't think that we ever measured it but Corn Starch, baby powder and that was it because the baby powder was essence enough. If we didn't have baby powder we used our AVON powder. (We were huge Avon users) or regular bath powder and after my huge vascular surgery I had Karyn make some for me while I was in the hospital and it sure helped a lot. Thank you for the memories.
