Happy Birthday Laura Jean

November 4, 2018

Good morning.  The sun is shining and there's a bit of a breeze today.  Temps are on the nippy side.  As I look out my door, everything is covered with leaves.  You've heard of a monsoon?  Well, we've been having a windsoon here lately.

Here are photos of what is left of the leaves on my trees.  Pretty soon they will be naked.  They are beautiful though, aren't they?

I have the shopping channel on and they are showing Multi-Mitt Gloves that have a cell phone storage  pocket on each glove.  Picture it -- on one hand you have your keys, flashlight, sunglasses, doggie cookie and Kleenex in the pocket; and in the other glove pocket you are carrying your cell phone, a credit card, some money and your ear buds so you can listen to some music.

They really are nice warm looking gloves, but I don't think I could handle carrying all that stuff on the back of my hands.  I need my hands to hold on to my purse, my oxygen and my Pogo.

Well, we've made it through another year.  My youngest, Laura Jean, is fifty three years old today.  Happy Birthday Sweetie.  I hope your day is filled with sunshine and laughter.  I love you.  Of course, this means that I got older too.  Yeesh!  Only one year to go to the big eight-O!

I had to get up at two a.m. this morning, so of course I opened my package that my friend Kyra sent me.  Oh my!  A box of pink tulip bulbs!  I love them Kyra.  Joe said he will plant them for me this afternoon.  I have a big planter that he will put them in.  They are going to look so beautiful next Spring on my porch!!  Thank you so much.

Now I guess I should tell you why I was up at that hour of the morning.  Well, my ice pack had melted and I needed to make a new one.   So what's the ice pack for?  To stop the itch.  What itch?  The shingles that broke out around supper time on Friday evening.

They are nasty and they are itchy and they are right on the side of my neck.  I have to keep slapping my hand to keep it from reaching up and gouging out the whole side of my neck to stop the itch!  Yesterday, Deanne and Eddie took me to an urgent care clinic to see what I could get for this miserable rash.

The doctor was really nice and prescribed a bottle of huge purple horsey pills for me to take, three a day for a whole week, to help get rid of the virus.   Hmmm, nothing for the itch?  Nope.  Just keep using whatever you're using.  I've been using Cortizone cream, a home made baking soda paste, and finally, Calamine lotion.  The ice pack works best, but it doesn't last very long.

I did get the shingles shot last year.  And this year, I went to get the new shingles shot but the pharmacy did not have it yet.  They said they would call me when it came in.  Obviously, it hasn't come in early enough!   Now I'll have to wait a month or two until all this nastiness on my neck is gone before I can go for the shot again.

Last night I thought I'd take my mind off my neck so I turned on the shopping channel.  Wowsie!  I was just in time to see their special value.  It was a small cordless electric drill, complete with all the bits and the charger and a kit to hold everything.  The drill came in all sorts of beautiful colors.  I finally decided on the red one and ordered it for myself for my birthday.

Quite often, I've needed a drill but I don't have one.  So this will work out just fine for me.  It won't be as heavy as the bigger drill.  Pogo is ordering something special for me but it won't get here until the beginning of December.  Hmmm, now I wonder just what he has been up to lately?   I've tried to coax it out of him, but he won't tell me.  I'll just have to wait and see.

Deanne and Eddie and the kids and some of my great grands are picking me up in a little while to take me out to lunch, so I'm going to have to be getting dressed soon.  First though, I have one more Halloween quick page for you.  This one is a "just for fun" one.  Enjoy.

Now I really must get busy here.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

The trees are beautiful, not so much here yet. Happy Birthday to Laura Jean! I am so sorry that you are dealing with the shingles:( My daughter had them last year and I know they are terrible. Have a blessed day and I hope each day gets a little better, praying for you!

Sorry you have to deal with the shingles, hopefully the pills from the doctor will help you out soon!
I also hope the tulip bulbs will come to bloom. Sometimes they can let you down.
Have to send you a belated birthday wish for Laura Jean, I am sure she had a great day.

I am already late today, cause i had an email from my niece from France and had to answer that first(and it took some time because my French has become rather rusty!).
all is well with her.
Now on to you next posts!
