Happy Birthday Beth

October 11, 2017

Good morning.  Today is going to be a cloudy day with temps in the seventies and a lovely breeze.  I stepped outside when the mosquito spray guy was here, and it really is quite nice out there.  We've been fortunate so far with the weather.

Today is my friend Beth's birthday.  Sad to say, she is having eye surgery today.  Gosh!  What awful planning!  Hopefully by the end of the year, she'll  be through with all her eye problems.  Beth, Pogo and I wish you a very happy Birthday.  Maybe tomorrow you can celebrate, huh?

Well yesterday I got a small squirt of energy and did a few small chores around here.  I'm hoping to get that same squirt of energy today too.  I did not get to finish everything I started yesterday, so I'd like to at least get a bit more done.

I meant to mention the other day that my new blog book had arrived.  I spent a little while looking through it and I'm quite pleased.  My hope is that someday my family will enjoy these books as much as I do.  Here's a photo to show the covers.

Yesterday, Pogo and I went out in the yard for a while and I took some more photos of the dahlias that are beginning to bloom.  The plants get really tall, so we've had to put stakes in each of the pots to keep the plants from toppling over.  Here are two of the newest blossoms.

Deanne and Eddie came by later in the afternoon, and Deanne helped me to figure out how to use the combination lock on my gun safe.  I have always had a problem trying to use combination locks.  Now, though, I think I can lock and unlock the safe.

While Deanne was helping me, Eddie was outside trying to get my phone synchronized with my car.  It always used to be, but this past year it has not been working.  Well, DUH!!  I forgot that when I bought a new phone, I needed to hook it up with my car's system.  It still worked with my last phone  (Eddie has that phone).  Thanks to Eddie, it's all set again.

After that, Eddie showed my how to use the new magazine loader for my gun.  It didn't come with instructions, and I couldn't figure it out.  He showed me how it worked a few times, then I practiced doing it by myself for a while.  I will practice again later today or tomorrow so that I can load my own magazine on Friday when we go to the shooting range again.

I'm noticing that each day some things are getting more and more difficult to do because of my shoulder.  I am right handed, and it's my right shoulder that is causing all my grief.  Getting dressed and brushing my hair seem to be more difficult that some other things.  Especially brushing my hair.  I'm finding that my hair doesn't really look so good when I get done brushing it with my left hand.

When I was in the sixth grade, my right arm got burned and I had to use my left arm and hand for most all of the school year.  I did pretty well except for my handwriting.  It took me all year to be able to write left handed neatly and legibly.  Sadly, I've lost that talent over the years.

Ah well, enough of my babble.  Today I have another Halloween quick page for you.  This one is a bit whimsical.  I wonder if ghosts and skeletons really do love sitting by a campfire.  Hmmm.

Last night I crocheted for a while on the new afghan.  Oh my gosh!!  I love it!!  I'll have to take some photos later on.  It sort of reminds me of orange sherbet ice cream.  Yummy!  I think I need to start boxing and packaging up some of these home made goodies because they are starting to run me out of my own space.  hahaha.  The afghans get put into zippered plastic blanket covers, and stacked on top of the giftee tote.  Except this one when it is finished.  I will have to keep this one.

For supper last night, I treated Pogo and me to some take out Chinese food.  Mmmm, mmm!  We like the pork fried rice and the pork lo mein the best.  Pogo licked his plate clean and came back for seconds.

Oh my, as I look out my door, I can see the sun shining.  What a lovely surprise!  Every now and then, it peeks through the clouds.   I think Pogo and I will sit out on the porch for a while before I get started on the household chores.  So, on that happy note, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.
