BOO!! Happy Halloween

October 31, 2017

Good morning, and Happy Halloween to everyone.  Tis really quite brisk outside.  At the moment, the temperature is 44F degrees.  It should climb up to about 57F degrees, and drop to the mid thirties for overnight. Brrrrr!

Sadly, this is just a bit too cold for Pogo and me to participate in this year's global ride with our witchy friends.  However, when the temps warm up, there will be other shorter rides and we'll try to fly on a couple of these.

Well, yesterday I did a bit of grocery shopping.  Did I say a bit?  Wow!  When I got home, I brought in all the freezer and refrigerator items, and left the rest in the car. That used up all my energy.  Later, Joe brought them in for me.  Now the larder is stocked up again.

I picked up a couple of birthday cards, and a large skein of Paddy Green yarn.  While I'm waiting for my new yarn order, my hands need to be busy.  The Paddy Green matches the Minty yarn and the Wildflower yarn that I already have.  So, last night, I started a new afghan.

I'll still work on the little red baby hats, but I like to see a bigger project coming to life.   I did ten rows before my eyes were ready to call for the sandman.  Being tired, I thought I might fall right into a deep sleep.  However, that was not the case.  Sleep was fitful for most of the night.  First it would be a leg cramp, then a neck spasm, then on to the other side of the neck, and so on.  Finally, my body settled down and I was able to fall into a nice sleep mode.

I have some really pretty shawl and shrug patterns in my project folder, so I'm thinking that maybe next year, I'll make a few of these.  My completed pile of afghans is growing.  Not a problem though, because I have lots of great grandchildren who might be wanting one of them.

Plus I want to donate one of the afghans to New England Poodle Rescue's next fund raiser auction.  Pogo is not a poodle, but these are the folks who rescued him and brought him to me.  I am forever grateful to them.

Either later today or sometime tomorrow, Pogo and I will have to go out to the post office and do a couple other errands.  Right now, it's looking like tomorrow might be our day for errands.  After my trip out yesterday, I need a day to work up some more energy.

Today I have another Halloween quick page for you.  This one shows a few skeleton friends on their way home from a Halloween party.  Have fun with it.

Here is your download link:

Now I think I'll wash the dishes.  After that, I'll probably chase a few dust bunnies out of my bathroom.  I told them that the bathroom was off limits to them, but there's always a few rebels in every group.

On that happy note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day and a safe Halloween night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Thoughts Of Personal Safety

October 30, 2017

Good morning.  The sun is shining this morning after a night of rain and gusty winds.  The wind is still quite brisk right now, but the rain has stopped.  The temperature today will be about sixty degrees, then drop down to the lower forties tonight.  Yup, Autumn has settled right in nicely.

I have to apologize for the change in yesterday's post.  I had mistakenly posted a kit that I had already posted earlier in the month, so I deleted it and posted a set of Halloween bookmarks.  I guess I'll have to start writing things down in a notebook.  I used to, but then I stopped.  As I get closer to the age of eighty, I tend to forget a few things so I guess it's time to get the notebook out again.

As I promised yesterday, I have some photos of the musical that I will be going to attend this weekend.  Jazzy plays the part of Chava, and is the girl with the white blouse and green skirt.  Here are some photos that were sent to me.  It looks like the performers (The Starliners) are enjoying this as much as I will.

Yesterday was sort of a lazy day for Pogo and me, but I did get to spend some time to work on some new quick pages.  Last night, I happened to turn on the Home Shopping Network just in time to see the new "Today's Special Value".  After watching the presentation for a while, I ordered one for myself.

The "Help Now Communicator Pendant" is a one cost only item.  Unlike other items on the market that have monthly fees due to keep working, this pendant has no fees.  You buy it, and wear it.  If you need to call 911 anywhere at all, it will call the 911 nearest to where you are.  It comes with everything you need to either clip it to your belt, clip it to your car's visor, or to wear as a pendant.

It seems like a good idea.  In any event, if I'm not happy with it, I can return it in thirty days for a full refund.  If anyone is interested in this item, it is on sale until midnight tonight, unless they sell out.  The phone number is on the first image.

It doesn't look like Pogo and I will be able to make the night long ride this year.  It's going to be rather cool overnight, and I just can't take the chance of getting a cold or pneumonia again.  There will be some shorter rides during the year that maybe we will be able to take part in.  Gosh, I'm sure going to miss this!!

Today, whether I like it or not, I have to go grocery shopping.  Then tomorrow, Pogo and I can go to the bank and the post office.  We'll probably stop by Ocean State Job Lot too while we're out.  That should do it for our outings until Saturday night when the kids are taking me to watch Jazzy at the Paris Cabaret.

Well, I guess that's all my news for this morning.  It's time to wash the dishes that are waiting for me in the sink.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Getting Ready For Halloween

October 29, 2017

Good morning.  Today is cloudy with temps in the sixties.  Even tonight will be another warm night.  But then the cooler day temps start and the nights will be getting downright chilly.  Autumn is settling in.

My hands are feeling at a loss without the new yarn.  So, I made a couple more little red baby hats. I figure I'll work on them until the new yarn gets here.  Or if the calendars get here before that, I can start wrapping a few things.

I also started reading my class book on Non Fiction writing.  My only problem is after reading a while, my eyes want to go to sleep.  I guess I'll have to put the discs in my laptop and listen for a while.  Either way, once I start to fall asleep, little stories start going through my mind.  Sad to say, they were all about the same character and his adventures.  Would you believe, in my mind I was writing stories about one of my dust bunny friends?  Don laugh, it could happen to you!!

Halloween will soon be here, and I have a photo to share of three of my beautiful great grandchildren in their costumes.  This is Alima, Lilah and Jack.  A Dorothy, a Zombie and a Gangster.  Awesome!

This is a very busy weekend for Joe.  One of his nieces got married yesterday, and Joe was part of the wedding party.  Today two of his great nieces are celebrating birthdays, so he''ll be busy going to parties and celebrating.  Here's a photo of Joe in his tuxedo just before he left for the wedding yesterday.

Other than that, it's been sort of quiet around here.  Next weekend though, I'll be going to see Jazzy perform in "Fiddler On The Roof."  I have a few photos that Deanne sent to me, and I'll post them tomorrow.

Yesterday, while I was out in the kitchen (main house) I noticed that my Christmas cactus is loaded with buds and one bud is beginning to blossom.    I have a few other younger plants that were made from cuttings from this older plant, and I can't wait to see if any of them start blossoming soon.  Here's a photo of the first blossom that will bloom soon.

Today I goofed.  I posted an old Halloween kit, not realizing that I had already posted it earlier in the month.  So, I have deleted it and posted a different Halloween kit.  This one is for bookmarks.  I'm sorry for the inconvenience to anyone who has already read this post.

The big night will soon be here for Pogo and me.  Here's hoping that we're up for the night's ride.  I've been being very careful not to catch any colds from anyone around me.  It will be super fun to see a lot of our witchy friends and their familiars.

Well, that's about all my news for this morning.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Lots Of New Yarn Coming Soon

October 27, 2017

Good afternoon.  I know I'm late today but Deanne and I had an appointment this morning at the shooting range.  I didn't do too badly today, but I know I can do a lot better.  This problem with my shoulder seems to be raising havoc with my aim.  I'll have to practice more with some "dry" shooting.  That's shooting with no bullets in the gun.

Not much happening here, but yesterday I did finally make my new yarn order.  I decided to get enough yarn to make three afghans.  Here are my new yarn selections.  I may possibly change one of the first two colors in the first row.  I'll know better when I see the yarn in person.
Today's mail brought me a package containing the two new courses that I had ordered.  It looks like I have enough learning here to do for quite some time.  The two new courses are for writing fiction and non-fiction.  There is another course for writing better sentences, and I might order that one too.  Hmmm, I'll have to think about it.    Here's a photo of my two new courses.  Both have discs and class books.

I know this is a short post, but my body feels quite tired now and I'm going to rest for a while.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have an awesome weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Ever Have A Dust Bunny Laugh At You?

October 26, 2017

Good morning.  It's still looking like drizzle and drab outside my door.  Temps are a bit cooler today, only in the low sixties, and it is still raining.  But, it is still lovely and my trees are still green.  I'm sure change is on the way because there are bits of yellow creeping into the green.  And, the nights will be getting cooler now too.

I know I don't say this very often, but I sure do enjoy reading your comments.  It's the first thing I do when I turn on my laptop in the morning, and it starts my day off on a happy note.  So, thank you, thank you.

Well, yesterday came and went, and I'm still trying to figure out what I did that took all day to do.  Hmmm.  Gosh, I guess I didn't do too much.  Ah well, maybe today I'll get a few things done.  In all honesty, I did go through my yarn stash to see what colors I had that might be good for another afghan.  This needed to be done before I ordered any new yarn.

I spent some time going through my yarn catalogue trying to pick out some new colors.  Unfortunately, sometimes the colors on the pages aren't really accurate.  In a few of the variegated yarns, I could not define all the colors used in the yarn.  So, I called customer service at Herrschners and asked the woman there if she could tell me which colors were in three of the variegated yarns.  She had the same problem that I was having, so she said she would check the yarns out in inventory and call me today with a list of the matching colors.  Now that's great customer service!!

Last night, I did finish the warm brown nappy cover.  When I get to the store this week, I'll buy buttons for all the nappy covers.  Here's a photo of the warm brown one.

I got an email this morning telling me that my new calendars are on the way here.  Woo Hoo!  I can't wait because now I can finally get started on wrapping and packaging some of the gifts that I have stashed away in the giftee tote.

I got another email about another super sale on blog books.  From now through October 31, you can get 31% off any order of books.  So if you're thinking of making a blog book, now would be a great time.  I used Blog2Print.  (aka, Shared Books)

Today I have another Halloween quick page for you.  This one is not very scary.  Rather, I thought I'd like to make a romantic page.  Have some fun with it.

Here is your download link:

Now I  think I'll wash the breakfast dishes and maybe chase a few dust bunnies around.  If nothing else, it's good exercise.  I think the dust bunnies just gather to one side of the room and laugh while watching me run around with my little vacuum cleaner.  Once I put the vacuum away, the dust bunnies go back to whatever they were doing before I interrupted them.

On this strange, but happy note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Now Folks Can Ring My Bell

October 25, 2017

Good morning.  Gosh, I do believe we are in a little monsoon season.  It rained during the night, and today the heavier rain comes in spurts.  At least so far.  Outside, we have puddles galore.  You won't believe this, but a fellow across the street is out in the rain washing one of his cars with a hand held hose.  In the rain!  Is he nuts?  I guess it takes all kinds!

Yesterday, the mailman showed up bearing lots of goodies.  He had four different packages, plus mail, for me.  Included in the packages was a new door bell for me, and a book.  My old doorbell died a long time ago.  This new doorbell will make it easier for me to know when someone is at the door by my pantry.

The new book is called "The Big Dictionary of Dreams."  It includes quite a lot of the history of dreams as well as a huge dictionary on the meaning of different dreams.  This should be quite interesting.

Well, yesterday was a good day for me.  In the afternoon, I started working on photos for my new calendar, and I didn't stop until I was finished.  Yup, even went online to design and order the calendars.  Now I just have to wait for them to get here.  Woo Hoo!

After that was finished, daughter Deanne and Janice came by with some groceries for me.  While they were here, they took my air conditioner out of the window, and wrapped it up for the winter.  I'm not sure what I did to deserve this spoiling, but I must say that I like it.

I showed the nappy covers to Deanne and asked her what other color I should make one in.  We both decided on a medium brown.  So, last night, I started a new nappy cover.  As you can see, it's far from finished, but it will look rather nice when it is done.

While working on this new nappy cover, I decided that one of the new afghans will be in shades of brown and beige.  I think I'd like to make one in gray tones too.  That's one color I haven't done much with.  I'll have to look around to see if there are any pretty variegated yarns that go well with shades of gray.  Another color scheme I think I'd like to work with is Cranberry and Pink, with possibly a matching variegated yarn.  Hmmm, so much to think about!

You know, I love the little critters in our yard, so yesterday I pulled another photo from my archives to share.  This little chipmunk seems to be enjoying watching the leaves falling as the wind blows.

I got another update from Angelica yesterday.  Her health is not so good, but she keeps up a good spirit about her.  Angelica, if you read this, please send me an email at pogosma@gmail.com.  Pogo and I hope your day is a good one.

Well. that's my news for today.  So till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Cooler Temps On The Way

October 24, 2017

Good morning.  Well, today is comfortably warm, seventy degrees, but it will be mostly cloudy with spurts of rain.  We already had some rain during the night, and as the day goes on we will be getting more rain.  Actually, it should be rainy for the next two days too.  And a little cooler.  Sad to say, Indian Summer may be starting to fade away.

Yesterday was rather quiet for Pogo and me.  We got to spend some time out on the porch, and we even had a little walk in the yard.  I did a bit of holiday crocheting, and finished another nappy cover.  This one is Periwinkle Blue.   I just have to buy the buttons (two) and sew them on.

Next I started another nappy cover, using the Black and Red yarn.  I finished this one last night.  I'll have to take a photo with my regular camera because my cell phone doesn't take very good photos of the color red.

I got an email about a nice sale at Vista Print, so I really must get those calendar photos finished today.  Once I get the calendars, I can start wrapping and boxing a few holiday items.  I also need to go shopping and pick up something nice for my daughter Laura Jean.  Her birthday is coming up really soon.  She'll be fifty two years old.  Aye yi yi!  She's my youngest.  Goodness, where have all the years gone???

Yesterday we got a photo of Pogo's little friend Cisco showing us his new bed.  Gosh, he looks like a really happy camper all stretched out with his blanket.  Looking good, Cisco!  Enjoy it!  Pogo sends you lots of woofs and a great big lick!

Wow, I think the wind just picked up a bit.  I looked out my door, and the leaves on the trees out front are doing an energetic version of the Salsa dance.  Woo Hoo!  Gosh, if only I could move half as good as those leaves move!!

I already had a lot of leaves on the ground, but now there are quite a few more of them.  Soon I'll have to get someone to start piling the leaves up and bagging them.  We'll have to pick a day that's not quite so windy.

Yesterday I sat down with my yarn catalogue and tried to decide on the colors for the next afghan.  Gosh, this is so difficult!!  I guess I'll just have to order two sets of colors and make two afghans.  Of course, there's no rush to finish them in any hurry.  It's just good therapy for my hands.

So I guess my two projects for today will be to work on the calendar photos and to order some new yarn.  I can live with that.  Who am I kidding?  These are both super fun projects!

Now I'm going to finish my coffee and then it will be time to wash the dishes.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Getting A Late Start Today

October 23, 2017

Good morning.  (at least for ten more minutes)  I got a late start today, checked my email and read a couple blogs.  Now it's almost noon.  Things are rather quiet here so this will be a short post.

Today is a bit cloudy, but warm, and there's just a tiny breeze wiggling a few of the leaves on the big trees out front.  But it's a great day for doing errands or just sitting around doing nothing.

Last night, I finished the little lapghan that I was working on.  The blue is called Light Periwinkle, and is really pretty.

After looking through some of my pattern books, I decided to work on another nappy cover.  For this one, I'm using the Periwinkle Blue.  I'll take a photo once it is finished.

I also had time to play in with some of my new scrap kits, and made a couple more Halloween quick pages.  I find this very relaxing and enjoyable.  Today I think I'll work on choosing the rest of the photos for my calendar.  Then I'll finish the nappy cover.  Yup, that feels like a good plan for today.

Here's your next Halloween quick page.  This one takes place in a creepy forest setting.  Take a walk through the entrance to the forest if you dare, and have a scary good time.

Here's your download link:

Now I think I'll take my coffee out to the porch while Pogo and I wait for the mailman to get here.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

p.s.  My timing is great!  The sun just came out.  Woo Ho!

A Very Restful Weekend

October 22, 2017

Good morning.  It's starting off to be another gorgeous day here in New England.  The sun is shining and the temperature is working its way up toward seventy degrees.  It's only 53F degrees right now, but it will soon be warm enough to sit out on the porch for a while.

So far, it has been a quiet weekend here.  Friday night I finished the Orange Sherbet afghan.  Oh my, it is beautiful!!  After that, I went looking through all my yarn stash to see if there were any unfinished projects that I might like to work on.  I did find a lapghan that I had started, so I took it out and worked on that yesterday.

I also spent some time online looking up an easy knit pattern for this chevron stitch.  I prefer to crochet, but my friend Rhoda wants to try knitting it.  So far, this is the easiest knit pattern that I've found.

Rhoda, I'll send you the pattern.  If you try it, let me know how it comes out.  I'll keep looking for other knit chevron patterns that aren't very difficult.  When I was younger, I'd try any pattern, no matter how difficult.  But now that I'm older, I like the easy patterns best.

I don't have too much planned for today.  At some point, I want to work on my calendar photos, and I want to spend some time working on quick pages.  If I get a spurt of energy, I may even do a bit of grocery shopping.  We'll see.

Tomorrow is trash pickup day, so I do need to get my trash bagged and set outside.  I also have two large bags of recycles that need to be put out in the bins.  We do a lot of recycling here.  My understanding is that the cities and towns get money back from the recycling company for all the recycles are picked up.  Seems to be a win win situation.

I've been going through my yarn catalogue, trying to decide on the colors for the next afghan.  I'm leaning toward either pinks or possibly a shade of purple with a green and a variegated yarn.  Hmmm, so many choices!

Well, there's not much news this morning so I think I'll make a fresh cup of coffee and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Tis A Quiet Day For Pogo And Me

October 20, 2017

Good morning.  The sun is shining, but it's still a bit cool.  Only 55F degrees outside right now.  But soon it will warm up to around 70F degrees (or close to it).  The next few days should be in the low seventies.  Awesome!

Yesterday I took a photo of what I look at outside my door when there is a brisk breeze.  It's a beautiful sight and it makes my eyes happy.

A few days ago, I ordered another diaper cover pattern and it arrived yesterday.  This one is size 6 months to a year.  This way I can make a couple different sizes.  Isn't this just the cutest?  Of course, I don't think I'm going to make the hat because I don't think the baby will wear it.  But it is cute.

Yesterday was a quiet day here for Pogo and me.  Other than washing a few dishes, and cooking something for us to eat, I really didn't do much of anything.  We did go outside for a little while, and I picked a couple dahlia blossoms.

Last night, I put a few more rows on the Orange Sherbet afghan.  (It really does look like orange sherbet)  Now I have about twenty four more rows to go to finish it.  I think I'd like to make a couple more diaper covers next.

Maybe today, I'll make a grocery shopping list.  I can make a quick run to the market either later today or over the weekend.  I need a new spurt of energy to get me going here.

Today I have another Halloween quick page for you.  It seems that Zlata and her friends aren't very impressed with their friend's stories.  hahaha.  Have fun with it.

Well, that's about all my news for this morning.  I think I'll make a fresh cup of coffee and crochet while I watch "Unsolved Mysteries" on TV.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have an awesome weekend.

An Awesome Day For Pogo And Me

October 19, 2017

Good morning.  This morning is looking just beautiful outside my door.  Temps are almost up to sixty degrees, the sun is shining and there is a light breeze.  It's going to be another gorgeous day here in New England.

Well, my goodness, yesterday was a day filled with lots of wonderful surprises.  Shortly after I finished posting here, Deanne and Janice stopped by, and brought Aurora with them.  They were going to the park but thought they would stop here first.  Oh my, Aurora is just so precious!  And she just loved "Cat Cat" (that's Pogo).  They have two cats at her house, so I guess that explains why she decided that Pogo was Cat Cat.    hahaha I love it!

Here are some photos that Janice took.  To the left is the proud Grandma (Dee Dee), and the rest need no explanation.  As you can see, Pogo and I were still in our jammies.

When they left here, they headed for a local park, where Aurora got to ride on the swings and feed the geese and pigeons.

Next on the agenda was a shopping trip.  A girl is never too young to learn how to shop, and Aurora seems to really love it!

Janice also sent me a photo of her holding Xander, Aurora's younger brother.  He is such a happy baby!  Gosh, did I mention how blessed I am?

Not too long after they had left here, Pogo and I were surprised with more wonderful visitors.  My dear friends from Florida, Rhoda and Marshall, stopped by for a visit.  They were up here to visit with their son, and made time to visit with us too.

Gosh, I am so glad they came by.  It was so good to see them again, and they finally got to meet my little guy, Pogo in person.  We had a wonderful time chatting and catching up on each other's news and revisiting some wonderful memories.  Too soon, it was time for them to leave.  Travel safely my friends.

After they left, I finally got around to washing the dishes, and doing a couple other small things around here before Joe texted me to say that he would be home shortly and for Pogo to be ready for his treat.  After that, Joe had to go back to work.  Of course Pogo was ready!!

Later in the afternoon, DIL Janet came by after work, and we had a really lovely evening together.  The blanket (afghan) that she is working on is coming along nicely.  She is already up to the half way point.  Her nephew is going to be thrilled with it.  I have about twenty eight more rows to go and my "Orange Sherbet" afghan will also be finished.

Needless to say, Pogo and I slept rather well last night.  It was a super nice day for both of us.  Well, that's my news for this morning.  Now I think I'll do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Just Call Me Mrs. Van Winkle

October 18, 2017

Good morning.  Gosh, I must have been wicked tired lately.  Last night I went to bed right after supper and fell asleep until the phone woke me up.  I thought I had slept right through till morning, but the caller assured me that it was only 7:30 in the evening.  It was a short call, and I went right back to sleep until 4:30 this morning.  I got up and made breakfast for Pogo and me, and then I went right back to bed and slept till 9:30 a.m.

Well, yesterday I made some more headway with some of my chores around here.  Plus I put out two more bags in the recycle bin.  Today I'll pick a spot and see what I can do to change it around a bit.  Other than that, I think I'll take it a bit easy today.

The other day, I picked up a recipe book called "Make In A Mug Recipes."  I was rather curious about what sort of things you could make in a mug.  It turns out that you can make quite a lot of different things this way.

Here's just one of the recipes in this book.  Pancake In A Mug.

Ingredients:  1 cup pancake mix, 1//4 cup milk, 1/4 cup applesauce
Topping:  Melted butter, warmed syrup

Directions:  Spray a large mug with non-stick cooking spray.  Mix the first three ingredients in a small bowl and then pour into the mug.  Cook in a microwave for 1-2 minutes (depending on the strength of the microwave) or until done.  Using a wooden skewer, poke holes in the hot pancake and pour the butter and syrup over the top until saturated.  Enjoy.

There are other tasty recipes such as Italian Sausage Soup, Classic Tuna Casserole, Tetrazzini In A Mug, Double Cheeseburger Slider and Key Lime Mug Pie just to name a few.

Last year while I was out shopping, I bought a hat that I thought my daughter Audrey would love.  However, I forgot to sent it to her.  I must have set it aside, and then forgot about it.  Last week I found it, so I put in a small package and mailed it to her.  Audrey loves the Grinch.  When she got the package, she sent me this photo.  It guess she has a sense of humor too!

It's a bit warmer today.  At the moment it is 57F degrees, but will be in the low seventies in another hour or so.  Gosh, I hope it stays nice like this right into November.  I know, I'm a dreamer.

Last night I cooked my little guy a steak for his supper.  He ate half of it, and he's enjoying the other half right now.  I buy the cubed steak because it is easier for me to cut it up small.  Plus it's quite tasty.

Deanne might be coming by today with her grandbaby Aurora.   Gosh, I hope they can make it.  It will be so nice to see the baby.  She'll be two in February.  Wow, where is the time going?

Well, I think I need to get moving here.  The morning is almost gone and I haven't started on anything yet.  I still have to decide what to make for supper tonight.  DIL Janet will be coming by after work.  I'll have to see what's in the freezer.

Ah well, that's my news for this morning.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Tis A Bit Nippy This Mornng!

Good morning.  Goodnesss, it feels almost like winter this morning.  Right now, the temperature is 35F degrees.  Brrrrr!   It should warm up to about 57F degrees later today.  The next four or five days should be warmer, in the sixties and seventies.  Last night I had to put the heat on in the main house.  Temps dropped down into the upper thirties.  Tomorrow I'll be able to shut it off for a few days.

Well, I don't know if yesterday was a good day or a so so day.  I had planned to do a bit of vacuuming, but I got side tracked and never did get to it.  I was on the way to get the vacuum, but instead decided to get rid of a pile of junk mail, magazines and catalogues.  A couple months ago, I decided to hire an outside shredding company, and so I've been saving all this stuff up till I had enough for the shred truck.  However, I called the other day to make sure they could shred all the magazines and catalogues, and they said "no, they could not."  Aye yi yi!

So, yesterday I started going through all this stuff.  Mail and personal information went into a large trash bag, and magazines and catalogues (minus my personal information) went out to the recycle bins.  Unfortunately, I can only sit or stand in any position for a few minutes before the pain starts up.

My body was rebelling.  Once the pain started, the spasms in my neck also started up.  I ended having to take pain meds twice yesterday.  This is unusual as I usually just sit for a while and ignore the pain.  But I was already sitting so the meds were necessary.  However, I did manage to fill a trash bag halfway with shred material, and I tossed three big bags of magazines and catalogues out into the recycle bins.  So I guess it wasn't such a bad day after all.

Remember last winter I said that I was going to order some courses for writing that were on sale?  Well I never did get around to it.  A few days ago, I got a catalogue in the mail from this same company, and the courses that I wanted are on sale again.  The courses are 80% off until October 26th, for new customers only.  Yesterday, I went online and ordered two courses on DVD's and they each come with a lesson book.

I ordered "Writing Creative Non Fiction" and Writing Great Fiction."  I may or may not do some writing later on, but I'm going to enjoy learning how to do it.  If anyone is interested, their web address is:  https://www.ordergreatcourses.com

When Pogo and I were shopping at JoAnn's Fabric store the other day, I picked up a pattern book for baby hats and diaper covers (also known as nappy wraps).  These are all size 3-6 months.  I bought another pattern book from Amazon with larger sizes.

Last night I thought I might take a break from my afghan and try this nappy wrap pattern.  Here's my first try.  It's not finished yet.  I still have to buy a button and snaps.  It is rather cute though.

I think I'll make a couple more of these and give them all to Xander, my newest great grandson.  I may even make the matching hats.  We'll see.

Today I'm sharing an image that I borrowed from a friend's blog.  This is something that I believe in and I practice it as often as I can.  Sometimes, the tiniest bit of kindness can make another person's whole day seem much brighter.

Well, I think I should get busy with my "chores" before I run out of steam.  I did not sleep well last night, so my energy probably won't last very long today.  On that happy (?) note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Is Free Really Free?

October 16, 2017

Good morning.  Today is starting off as another cloudy day.   However, it is still nice outside.   Hmmm, I wonder what just happened.  I was typing and all of a sudden my page disappeared and Google page came up.  What???   Either ghosties are playing games with me today or my computer has a mind of its own.

I must have been really tired last night because I turned the light out early and slept late this morning.  The nice long sleep felt really good.  Pogo didn't even wake me up this morning.  But, when I woke up, he was sitting in his chair just looking at me.  I got right up and made him some breakfast.

This morning I looked up Skillshare, a place for creative folks to learn how to do things.  (Thank you Snowy, for this information.)  There is so much there for anyone who wants to keep learning.  However, you do have to pay to join or you can't look around at much of what is offered.  In one place, it said to join up for free, so I did.  I put in my name, email and password, but it wouldn't let me go any further unless I also put in my credit card information.  That's when I left that site.  As far as I'm concerned, it is not free if they need my credit card information.  Maybe I'll take another look another day to see if I read it wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying for what I want.  Just don't try to tell me it is free, then ask for payment or credit card information.  Free is supposed to mean no money or payment.  At least that's what I always thought.  Hmmm, are things that different nowadays?

Today I thought I would share some more photos from "memoryville."   This first photo is one I had taken of my four oldest kids back in the seventies.  From left to right, they are Deanne, Gary Jr, Kerri and Audrey.

One summer, back then, I took them on a vacation to New Hampshire.  We rented a cabin near a pond and had a really nice time.  Here I am on vacation.  I look so serious, I must have been watching the kids.

Another photo that I dug out is one of me and my best friend, Ginny May.  I met her when I first went into ninth grade and we were best friends for the next forty plus years till she passed away.  In the photo (taken in the eighties), Ginny and I were getting ready to leave (we drove) for Nashville, Tennessee.  We had an awesome time and went back again another year.  (that's me in the pink sweats)

The second time we drove to Nashville, was to spend a week at Fan Fare, a week where most all the country singers gather and put on concerts and meet their fans.  Wow!  We saw two or three concerts a day, had lots of great food and met lots of the stars.  We even had our picture taken with some of them.  We went to local night clubs, and looked in all the local shops for goodies to bring home.  Today, I still drink coffee from my Nashville mug.

I don't have much planned for today.  I'll put away the laundry that I did yesterday and maybe push the vacuum around a bit.  The dust bunnies are already protesting but I really must do this.  Although I have to be honest, when I get finished you won't be able to see the difference.  House work is just not my cup of tea.

Well, I guess I've babbled enough for today.  Now it's time to get dressed and do a bit of work around here.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Fall Temps Are Slowly Taking Over

October 15, 2017

Good morning.  It's almost nine o'clock and Pogo has already had his turkey treat so he's a happy little boy.  Joe has just left to go the market to pick up a couple things that I need.  I really appreciate this because I have cleaning chores to do, and if I go out to the store I won't feel up to doing these chores when I get back.

Today it's cloudy and gray outside, but it is still fairly warm.  Temps will be in the low seventies.  After today, temps will be cooling down a bit to the sixties.  Still, it is quite comfy and nice out.

Gosh, weekends have a way of flying by really fast.  It's already Sunday, and I haven't done a whole lot.  Well, maybe I've done a few things, but nothing earth shattering.  Does it bother me?  No not really.  I'm at a time in my life where I mostly just do things that I want to do.

When I was younger, it was important to me to have a shiny clean house.  Today it is not.  Now it's more important to me to keep my hands busy with crocheting, to enjoy my little doggie and to do things that I enjoy.  On Facebook, I see posts from a place that holds classes in watercolor painting.  It looks like such fun, and if it were close to here, I would probably join.  I love learning, and I think that's what keeps my mind young.

I have some fun photos to share today.  Years ago, Polaroid came out with some fun lenses to use with their camera.  I got a set and oh my, the fun I had with them.  One lens in particular would let you take two photos, one on top of the other.  This was one of my favorites.  Here are two photos that I took back then of my grandson, Bobby.  (Dee and Eddie's first child, my first grandchild.)

The first photo has always been a favorite of mine.  The minute Bobby was born, he stole a chunk of Papa's (my hubby) heart and was always the apple of his eye.  Papa loved all the kids as they came along, but Bobby was always very special to him.  Maybe because he was the first to come along.

Yesterday, I spent some time on the computer, playing with some of my Halloween scrap kits.  This is a favorite holiday of mine, and I love working on the quick pages.  Before I was done, I had two new QP's finished and uploaded.  I finally had to stop because Pogo was reminding me that I hadn't made him any supper yet.  Ooops, my bad!

Here's the next in my series of Halloween quick pages.  This one is a fun and happy time in the life of these two skeletons.  They are finally getting married and will spend eternity with each other.  Have fun with it.

Taking A Short Stroll Down Memory Lane

October 13, 2017

Good morning.  It's 47F degrees here this morning.  Brrrrr!  The temperature is supposed to get up to about 62F degrees later on, but right now it is cooooool!  I hope it warms up soon because Deanne and I have an appointment at the shooting range this morning.  Part of our time there, we'll be learning how to clean our weapons.

Yesterday was a busy day here opening packages that the mailman brought.  Stuff that I had ordered from a catalogue came, along with a package containing my new Christmas cards.  Woo Hoo!  Gosh, I really love my new cards.  I can't post one of them here because that would spoil all my fun for this Christmas.

I got out my address book and was all set to start addressing just a few envelopes, but then I decided that it would be best to wait another two or three weeks to do this.  One year I had most of my envelopes finished really early, only to find that several people had moved to different addresses.  Then I had to put labels on the front of my envelopes and re-address them.

When yesterday's newspaper got here, there was an article on the front page about an elderly man who lives a few towns over from here.  I started to read the article and got all excited.  This man and his family, were childhood friends.  I hadn't seen him since I was a very little girl.  He was only a baby then, and now he is seventy three years old.  Today, he goes by the name "Yellowman."

I went looking through my old photos for a special photo that was taken back in the mid-forties.  The photo is very old and rather fuzzy, but wow!  The memories it holds!   The second little boy in the front row of kids is Harold Jr (aka Yellowman).  To his right are his two sisters, and the woman in the back of us kids is Harold's mother.  The little boy on the far left (front row) is my brother Artie, and the first little girl behind him (on the left) is me.  The other kids are some of my cousins.

Wow, what a grand time I had going through all my photos looking for this particular photo.  Of course, none of my household chores got done, but who cares!  I was having a grand old time reliving some super happy days.

Here's another happy photo that I dug out.  This was a rare photo, taken in June 1981, of my brother and I dancing together.  Gosh, I miss him!

One thing I did remember to do yesterday was to call up and reserve a table for the newest show at the Paris Cabaret.  They are currently performing "Fiddler On The Roof" and Jazzy will be playing Chava, the third of five daughters.  This was one of my hubby's favorite musicals.  We are going to see it on November 4th, and I can hardly wait.  Here is a photo of the entire cast.  Jazzy is on the left, in the middle row, wearing the long red sweater.  The lady in the front row is the owner of the Cabaret.

I dug out a few other fun photos that I will share here, but not today.  It's time for me to start getting ready to leave.  Deanne will be here soon.  I also need to take out a clean jersey for Pogo to wear today.  It's just a tad bit cool here, and the last thing Pogo and I need right about now is to catch a cold.

On this happy note, I'll take my leave.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.
