A Murphy's Law Day For Me

September 16, 2021

"Murphy's Law"   In its simplest form, Murphy's Law states "If anything can go wrong, it will."

Good morning.  Tis gray outside this morning and it has been raining a bit off and on.  We should have some sunshine later on and temps in the low seventies.  Rather a nice day.

Yesterday turned out to be a day I'd rather not repeat.  It was my grocery delivery day.  Well, that's what it was supposed to be.  A little after ten a.m. the delivery car arrived.  With only five items out of the forty six that I had ordered.   The whole thing had to be sent back to the store.

I called the store and spoke to someone acting as manager for the day.  (It was the manager's day off)  I explained the problem and he said he would take care of it right away.  Soon, the delivery car came back with a lot of groceries.  After the driver left, I went through everything and put it all away, making a list of everything that was still missing.

Another phone call to the store, and I named all the missing items to the "manager" who (once again) said he would take care of it right away.  In a while, the delivery person showed up again with the rest of the groceries.  By the time everything was put away, I had already done a whole days work and was exhausted.

Deanne and I had originally planned to go out and enjoy an ice cream sundae after she got out of work, but now I was just too tired to go.  This should be the end of this saga, but it isn't.

At 8:25 p.m., another delivery car showed up with groceries.  I told the driver that I had already received my order earlier in the day, and she left to take it all back to the store.  I really felt bad for her, but I wasn't up to starting this whole shebang over again.

"shebang (SHa'baNG),  noun,  a matter, operation or set of circumstances"  per dictionary.

Sadly, I did not do any crocheting yesterday.  However, today is a new day and I intend to put a few rows on each of my projects.  I'm also going to make some egg salad to enjoy later.  I have and Egg Pod that I want to try out.

I had one before, and I decided to wash it before I tried using it.  That was my mistake.  I took it all apart and washed it, but then broke it trying to put it back together.  It ended up in the recycle bin.  Today I shall skip the "wash first" part and just put the eggs in it and cook them.  I'm hoping it works the way it is supposed to.

It's time to take stock of my gift wrapping supplies, so I may go online to see if I can find any of my favorite wrapping bags.  I still have a few left from last year but I could use a few more.  Plus I'll need a few more bows and rolls of Scotch tape.  This will be fun shopping.

Pretty soon, I'll have to decide what to do about a new calendar.  My cards and calendar just won't be the same anymore.

Today I want to share photos (that I took yesterday) of one of the little critters in my yard.  This cute little squirrel was enjoying a nut that fell from one of the trees.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Ugh -- that's frustrating about the groceries. Sounds like they need to work on their efficiency! At least you finally (apparently) got everything you ordered.

Really Murphy's Law. Gosh, 3 times a grocerie delivery car at your door, I can believe you were exhausted after all this(with all the e=telephonecalls and explaining extra).
Pity you couldn;t go for the icecream, but I am sure Deanne will find another day to go for it.
Probably a good day today to take it a little bit easy and have fun with shopping for wrapping stuff!
I did some grocerie shopping too today, specially for some new cheese, as we were out of it. And doing that found a few things that were tasty and also a Christmas present, wow.

Have a great day, hope your eggs were good, hahaha.
Hugs

What an ordeal that grocery shopping turned out to be, Edna. And too bad you missed out in going out for ice cream because putting everything away was exhausting. Hope you get to have a treat soon. The squirrel was a cute capture.
