Vaccinations Are Important

September 30, 2021

Good morning.  Today is sunny and temps will be in the fifties all day.  Tonight, temps will drop into the forties, and tomorrow's temps will get back up into the sixties.  I wonder why we always get this drastic drop in temps when Summer changes over to Autumn.

I found an interesting article in the AARP magazine.  Did you know that by opting out of vaccinations, you may be missing an opportunity in the fight against dementia?  For people between the ages of 75 and 84, influenza vaccination was associated with a reduced likelihood of developing Alzheimer's disease.  (Research led by Paul Schulz, M.D., a neurologist at McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.)

Other research has found that adults ages 65 to 75 who had received the pneumonia vaccination had a 28 to 30 percent reduction in their chance of developing Alzheimer's.  The bottom line is that vaccinations are one of the most studied and well-tested preventive care measures for our health.

All my life I've been prone to respiratory illnesses, so I always keep my Flu and Pneumonia shots up to date.  And now with the booster Phizer shot, I feel a bit more comfortable about being able to go out now and then.

Here's another article that I thought I would share. This one can be fun and might be rewarding to some lucky persons.

Tuesday's storm was mostly thunder and lightning with a lot of rain.  The cable guy showed up and picked up the bag with the digital part from the TV.  I did take a photo of him taking the bag.  I was not offered a receipt, so I'm glad that I thought to take the photos of both the cable guy and his truck.

Now we just have to find the right antenna for the TV and then figure out how to make it work.  I did buy one, and Deanne hooked it up to the TV but I think we're going to need an adapter.  Aye yi yi.  It's always something.  I guess this is what keeps Life interesting.

I finished the second pocket wrap that I've been working on and now I'm making pockets for both of them.  This is the least fun part of the wrap for me.  Don't ask me why.  It just is.  Once this is done, I'll finish the baby blanket and the mystery project.

Now I'm going to get a fresh bottle of water from the fridge and enjoy some blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

You;ll always have people pro and contra vaccinations, but I still believe in science and so vaccinations can do a lot of good. Interesting stuff about vaccinations and Alzheimer. If this is a genuine research, it would be great. Still being a bit careful in some situations or area's for Covid, but here we are returning more or less to "normal"life.
Oh fun, now you will have to look for an adapter for the antenna, hahaha. Hope you can find it and that it will work.
Weather here is not too nice, quite some wind and temps around 16C, cloudy. Brrrr, it is hard to get used to those temps again.
I am now typing with Muppet on the lap! she still is going around but spends more and more time here.
Finishing projects like sewing/crocheting together and such isn;t my favourite thing either.
Have a wonderful day,
Hugs
Kyra

You are so right in stating that vaccinations to help protect against many other things, Edna. I really don't understand why people would refuse to get vaccinated, not only for COVID, but other things as well. However, that is their choice because everyone has the right to make their own decisions. Sadly, that has not turned out so well for a number of people and that is very tragic for their families as well.

Good for you for keeping your vaccines up to date! And that's interesting about the coins. I'm laughing at "In God We Rust" -- LOL!

I have been looking for a 1943 copper penny since I was a teenager and have never found one. The zinc ones, yes, but not the copper. Someday I will find it and be incredibly wealthy (ha, ha).

I do not understand people being so against vaccinations. We all got them for polio and smallpox. I just don't understand. But that is each person's choice. My husband has already gotten his third shot. I have to wait a couple of more months for mine.

Happy crocheting! I am knitting a scarf right now and will post a picture when I am done.

I sent you an invitation to join my blog. I had to make it private, but not from you.

I really need to check my coin stash as I have been saving pennies since the 70's as well as other coins!
if I see a coin I always stop and pick it up.
Hope your tv situation get straightened out, we have been thinking of getting rid of our direct tv as it keeps going up!
Thank you for visiting and for your sweet comment.
Have a great weekend.
