I Love You, Brother Of Mine

August 19, 2010

It's not quite 5 am, and the temperature is just gorgeous!!! It's still dark outside, so the air feels cool and oh so breathable! I don't want to rush away any days, but I hope the stress of this whole week is over soon.

I've done a bit of looking back over my life and the way us kids were raised. I'm not saying that it never happened, but I can't remember any moments where my brother and I got hugs and "I love you"'s from our parents. I realize it had to do a lot with their upbringing, but it made a huge impact on our lives. To this day, I don't ever remember actually saying the words "I love you" to my brother, or giving him a big hug. I do love him, and try to show him in so many other ways, but it's not the same, I know.

When my children were small, I tried to make sure they were able to express their feelings for each other quite naturally. Hugs and I love you's came easily. I know they have their ups and downs with each other from time to time, but when trouble knocks on their doors, they are there for each other with outstretched arms. And I see this being passed on to their own children and grandchildren. This is good.

Gosh, would you listen to me? All this, and I haven't even had a cup of coffee yet. The girl coming in this morning to relieve me is bringing me coffee. That's almost two more hours away yet.

Yesterday afternoon, my stepson and grandchildren stopped by for a visit before they had to start back home to Florida. Gosh, they have grown so quickly. Seems like not too long ago, they were still small children, but oh my goodness, they have blossomed into such beautiful teenagers. Of course, I took some photos, and made a layout to share.

My other photo for this morning is just a reminder - Today is a great "bird bath" day my friends. Stop and enjoy a few minutes with your friends and loved ones. Hug someone and tell them you love them.

That's all for this morning. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day. If you're reading this Artie, I love you.

hmm... I can't remember that either, no hugs or I love you's, I can't even remember seeing my parents hugging during my childhood-and I think you are right it's the upbringing.Unfortunetely they don't know how much problems that can cause to their kids later - it took me years to overcome and I'm still working on it. Luckily you were different with your own kids , I learned from it as well and was different with Shaun.
LMAO- I had enough coffee though - I'm slushing when I walk . Shouldn't be long now for you until you can go home. Fab layout ! Hugs Snowy

You are so right....it must be a generation thing. We were the same and to this day I still find it hard to hug my sister when I see her. Even a hug from friends makes me uncomfortable and I often find myself backing away from them.
Lucky for me, I have no trouble giving hugs to my husband and son.

I love the pictures you post of the birds and other critters. Normally I hate the birds coming around with their droppings all over the place, but after seeing your pictures I am slowly coming around, but I doubt whether I will get to 'like' the pigeons.
