Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

December 6, 2009

When I left for work last night, the snow was already falling. Little by little, it came down heavier, and then next it was pouring half rain and half snow. After a little while, it slowed down just a tad, then started up again, but this time it was all snow. Lots and lots of snow. By the time I got to work, the snow was beginning to stick to the roads, as well as the yards.

The weather man on Friday afternoon predicted about 6 inches of snow for us. Yesterday's reports had tuned that figure down to about 2 inches. The reality was a good 4 inches in most areas. The bad part of this snowfall was the rain that got under it and froze during the night.

I did, however , get some pictures to share. This first one was taken late last night, in the dark with no flash -- through the storm door window (and screen door) in "night shot mode.

Not bad for a night shot. The next photo was taken this morning. This was the view through the kitchen window, which I thought was rather pretty.
*

Then, of course, I had to take a few shots on the way home. Sometimes the scenery is too pretty not to photograph it. The first photo I have here is of a chain link fence with all it's holes filled in with snow. It almost looks like a wooden fence.
*
Next, I stopped at a local Dairy farm to take this gorgeous shot. It was just so peaceful looking that I could not resist.
*
While I was shooting pictures here, I noticed that the moon was looking really pretty too, so of course, I had to have a moon shot.
*
Gosh, I think I love my camera. Why didn't I get into this stuff years ago? When I think of all the gorgeous pictures I could have taken; Wow!, it boggles my mind. Ah well, with a bit of help from upstairs, I'll have the next thirty or so years to catch up. Don't laugh!! If other women can have part time jobs when they are 104 years old, then I guess I can still be getting around with my camera. Of course, I might need a bit help carrying it, and holding it up to shoot it, -- big deal!!
*
On with the snow saga. When I got home, I had to take a few photos there too. My favorite is one of a rose branch hanging over the newspaper tube. It was just hanging there, all dressed up in beautiful snowy finery, and waiting to have it's picture taken. Is this not a pretty little branch?
*
To make the morning complete, Moo cooked breakfast for me and Miss Tootsie. Scrambled eggs and hash. Mmmmmmmmmm! Yummy!! That, and a cup of coffee, and I'm a happy little camper this morning.
*
Before I go, I have to tell you about an extremely funny movie that the Mrs and I watched on TV last night. It was called "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry." The whole movie was hilarious. We laughed so hard, I was sure I was going to have a stomach ache. So if it comes on your TV, give yourself a treat and watch it.
*
Now I think I will see what kind of mischief I can get into before I have to take a nap. Tonight is a work night again. Y'all have a marvelous day now.

Edna, I love your camera too! I will be getting a new one, maybe in the spring. Mine is in such rough shape. It zooms on its own and won’t zoom out without being turned off! But I can handle the little tricks for now. It just has to last until I can afford a new one! I DENIFINTELY want a point and shoot, but I want one that takes great pictures like yours does, or as good as a P&S can!

You shots are wonderful! I love to look at snow. I’m just not in any hurry to look at it from inside of it. I do have a winterized tip for the cane, but I know I’ll need a tripod at 104. Maybe that will answer your question about carrying yours! hehe
