Br-r-r-r!!! My computer room is quite nippy this morning. Actually, it has been for a couple of days now, but it just dawned on me what the problem was. Last Spring, we took the plastic off this old, drafty window because we were supposed to be getting a new window. This, of course, never happened. Our trusty window installer disappeared with the wind.
The window was eventually put on the "To Do 2010" list. Meanwhile, I forgot all about it until now, when my fingers turned to icicles while I'm trying to type. Today, Moo will put new plastic back on this old window, and then maybe the room will feel warmer.
The weather reports last night were quite dismal. The wind has been howling wicked bad all over New England, knocking down trees and power lines, and leaving lots of folks without any power. That, of course, means that there were a lot of people with no heat during the night, and maybe this morning. So now, my drafty window doesn't seem like such a big problem. I do have heat, and a wonderful new fluffy, warm bathrobe to wear. I am very thankful for these things.
Speaking of things to be thankful for - my friend Su, from our forum, has gotten a brand new grandson. Kaleb Ethan made his entry into this world last night. Congratulations Su, to you and your family. Babies are precious gifts to be thankful for.
I know this old house has been keeping me quite busy this year with all sorts of repairs (speaking of which, the plumber will be coming today to fix a problem with the upstairs bath drains - oh joy!) but I am very thankful to have my house. I am thankful for every day that I am alive and well enough to complain about it, too. Gosh, imagine how cold a cardboard box is!!
One more day, folks! Tomorrow night is the BIGGIE!!! New Year's Eve! What will you be doing to celebrate? Where will you be and who will you be with? I will be at work all night and most of the next day. But I will have my cell phone and my laptop with me, so I can still celebrate with my friends and my loved ones.
Now I am going to make myself a BIG cup of hot coffee. These old bones are in need some extra warmth. Today my daughter in law, Janet, is coming by and we will have some fun together. Before I leave, I do have a freebie for you. I did not finish my ornaments project this year, but I do have one for you. It's a corner ornament for your holiday scrap pages. I hope you like it. Y'all have a fantabulous day now.
Hugs, Edna B.

Edna, the ornament is gorgeous!
After lunch in the Motherland with my cousin this afternoon, David and I are coming home for a "just us" New Year's Eve. Movies, cuddles and maybe a chocolate fondue, if we stop at the store on the way home. Our only rule for th night is no scrapbooking and no poker, the laptops will be closed! :)
We should try the plastic on the windows. We have drafts, every now and then you can hear the wind chimes in out bedroom tinkle! But you are SO right - at least we have a ceiling with a hook to hang the chimes. So many people in our part of the country have lost that this year.
You all have a Happy New Year and here's to a better everything, including a reduction in necessary house repairs, in 2010!
