New Year's Eve Is Here

December 31, 2009

Well, tonight's the night, folks! This is it, the end of the year 2009. At midnight, bells, whistles, horns and noisemakers will be heard everywhere as we all ring in the new year, 2010. Some of us will be celebrating quietly, whether at work, at home with a loved one, or just by our self with a warm cup of coffee (or tea or cheer).

I want to wish all of you a very healthy, happy and prosperous New Year. May your joys be big, and your aches and pains be small. To start your new year, give a hug or a handshake to someone who needs it. Your whole year will be so much better.

Yesterday and last night, my daughter in law was here to spend the day and evening with me to celebrate Christmas. Do I need to say we had a lovely time? It's not that we did such spectacular things, but the time together was really nice. Thank you Janet.

I even found some time to do a bit of designing. After all, it wouldn't be right to end the year without one more freebie. So I made a party QP. I used one of the little people from Helga at Granny's Art. This little dollie just fascinates me, and I had a grand time playing with her.

As this is the last blog post for this year, I just want to say that it has really been a great year for me and Miss Tootsie. Even though we have run into a few brick walls, we are still here and very blessed. As for the house and the car, they are material things. Important, yes, but not an end-all. My Tootsie is irreplaceable, and so are my family and friends.

I have just put up the new slideshow for the January Daily Download kit. Don't forget, there is also a gorgeous add-on that goes with it in our shop at Magickal Scraps, and it is only $1.50. How can you go wrong with that?

Now I am going to enjoy a cup of coffee, and get another treat for Tootsie, and post your freebie. Y'all have a beautiful day and a fantastic New Year's Eve.

Hugs, Edna B.

Brrr!! 2009 Is Going Out Like A Lion!

December 30, 2009

Br-r-r-r!!! My computer room is quite nippy this morning. Actually, it has been for a couple of days now, but it just dawned on me what the problem was. Last Spring, we took the plastic off this old, drafty window because we were supposed to be getting a new window. This, of course, never happened. Our trusty window installer disappeared with the wind.

The window was eventually put on the "To Do 2010" list. Meanwhile, I forgot all about it until now, when my fingers turned to icicles while I'm trying to type. Today, Moo will put new plastic back on this old window, and then maybe the room will feel warmer.

The weather reports last night were quite dismal. The wind has been howling wicked bad all over New England, knocking down trees and power lines, and leaving lots of folks without any power. That, of course, means that there were a lot of people with no heat during the night, and maybe this morning. So now, my drafty window doesn't seem like such a big problem. I do have heat, and a wonderful new fluffy, warm bathrobe to wear. I am very thankful for these things.

Speaking of things to be thankful for - my friend Su, from our forum, has gotten a brand new grandson. Kaleb Ethan made his entry into this world last night. Congratulations Su, to you and your family. Babies are precious gifts to be thankful for.

I know this old house has been keeping me quite busy this year with all sorts of repairs (speaking of which, the plumber will be coming today to fix a problem with the upstairs bath drains - oh joy!) but I am very thankful to have my house. I am thankful for every day that I am alive and well enough to complain about it, too. Gosh, imagine how cold a cardboard box is!!

One more day, folks! Tomorrow night is the BIGGIE!!! New Year's Eve! What will you be doing to celebrate? Where will you be and who will you be with? I will be at work all night and most of the next day. But I will have my cell phone and my laptop with me, so I can still celebrate with my friends and my loved ones.

Now I am going to make myself a BIG cup of hot coffee. These old bones are in need some extra warmth. Today my daughter in law, Janet, is coming by and we will have some fun together. Before I leave, I do have a freebie for you. I did not finish my ornaments project this year, but I do have one for you. It's a corner ornament for your holiday scrap pages. I hope you like it. Y'all have a fantabulous day now.

Hugs, Edna B.

The Wind Is A'Howling This Morning

December 29, 2009

This morning is very windy and cold. Even with the sun shining, the cold bites right through your coat. Brrrrr. Tootsie and I got up rather early this morning, around 4:30 a.m. That's because we went to bed really early last night to watch some TV. Needless to say, I did not see much TV as I fell asleep shortly after getting into bed.

I put some of my time this morning to good use designing. The shapes challenge this month was to make some things using snowflake shapes. I made a snowflake overlay, then a snowflake paper, and then turned it all into a snowflake quick page, which I will post today as your freebie.

It's time for me to pull myself together here and get back into designing, and maybe going out more with friends. These past two years, I have stayed very close to my house. Considering how active I used to be, I think it's time for me to start being a bit more active.

I think the wind is interfering with the internet, as Blogger keeps telling me that it may not be able to save my post because of the internet connection. so I will keep this very short, and just post your freebie. Y'all have a great day now.

Hugs, Edna B.

Only Four Days Left To Enjoy 2009

December 28, 2009

Wow, just think, in three more days, we'll be celebrating New Year's Eve!!! Here's hoping that the new year, 2010, will be a healthy and prosperous year for all of us.

This morning I had to give Miss Tootsie a bath before going to her chemo appointment. When we finished with the bath, I was standing in a large puddle of water. This has happened before, and I just figured that I was not careful about slopping the water about, and just cleaned it up.

This morning, I checked it a bit further. Well, dang it all!!! Another broken, leaky water pipe!!! It seems as though my house is falling in around me one piece and pipe at a time. So now I will clean out the cabinet under the bathroom sink, and most likely have to call the plumber back to fix the pipes. Please, please, please let 2010 show a sturdy, healthy house!!! I could use a little break in between repairs. Whew!

Some more bad news. It seems 4Shared had a bit of a meltdown this morning. So, all freebie links up to now have been expired. If you didn't get the Christmas QP's or the Hanukkah Joy kit, let me know and I will see about getting new links. Otherwise, we will start all over new.

Over the Christmas holiday, I got some great photos and layouts from Kyra and Snowy, showing them with their new fleece cuddlers. I didn't think that maybe they do not have cuddlers in England and Holland, so that made it so much more fun. By now, of course, they both know what to do with them. Here is a photo of Snowy and Shaun, and a layout of Kyra and Jan showing some of the fun.

*
Today, I also have a freebie for you. I call this one "Sunflower QP" and I used a birthday kit that Kyra had made for me. Now, I think I shall go and start the laundry. Most of my scatter rugs are waiting to be washed. Thank you, Tootsie. Y'all have a wonderful day now.

More Christmas Photos

December 27, 2009

Br-r-r-r!! It's a cold, windy and very wet morning. It's not a heavy rain, just a fairly light, drizzly type, (although sometimes it does come down pretty good) but with the wind and the cold, it does not feel so good. The weatherman says that tomorrow there might be some snow mixed in with the rain. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it just goes away for a while.

Last night, I could not do much in the way of designing because the battery on my laptop was rather low, and I forgot the power plug. Oh well, that'll learn me!! This morning, I am charging the battery, and then I'll put the cord right into my work bag.

I do have a new layout featuring me with some of my gifts on Christmas Eve. The roses in the background were also a Christmas present. I just love orange roses!!!

This next photo is Miss Tootsie, wearing one of her new sweaters. She was trying to keep her little chewy bone safe, and seemed to be saying "Please don't touch my chewy!"
*

And finally, Christmas wouldn't be complete without children. These are my two youngest grandchildren, Jazz and Kevin, who gave me that lucky lottery ticket.
*

As you can see, we all had a really wonderful Christmas. I just took a short break to put together another photo group; this one features Dee and Eddie and of course, Mr. Jingle Bells himself!

Water, Water Everywhere!!!

December 26, 2009

Good Morning! I'm watching the TV and they are talking about ringing in the New Year. Imagine! In five more days, at midnight, we will be looking at another brand new year. It just doesn't seem possible. They are also talking about the rain that is coming our way starting this afternoon. Oh goodie!! If we're not slipping and sliding, we're floating.

Well, we had a bit of excitement here late yesterday afternoon. Moo cooked a beautiful, delicious dinner for us. A New England boiled dinner!! Yum, yum!!! Tonight, I will fry up some of the leftovers, all mushed together, and have a fantastic meal!!

After dinner was over and we were all relaxing, Mr Howie was up to his tricks again. God bless him! He put chunks of toilet paper in the toilet and stopped it up and just kept flushing till the whole bathroom was flooded. We discovered it when the water started coming down through the ceilings all over the kitchen floor. Next came a couple of hours of clean up. What a way to end a great day!! Life is never dull here.

On a brighter note, I did a bit of scrapping this morning. Moo got some lovely Chef's apparel for Christmas from Kyra and Snowy, and he was proudly showing it off.

*
I also have a great photo to share with you today. My son-in-law, Mac, got a new lens for Christmas, and has been having a grand time taking pictures. Here is one he sent to me last night. This was taken out his back door. Great job, Mac!!!

Gosh, the weather channel is showing some awfully huge amounts of snow in the central and mid-west parts of the country. I hope my friends there are all safe and warm. I know the weather has been wreaking havoc on some of their holiday plans, so I hope they are able to get together with their families.
*
Well, I think I shall have another cup of coffee, and see what today will bring. Please, nothing too drastic!! Tonight is a work night for me. So till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

Happy Birthday, Jesus.

December 25, 2009

And to all of you, a very Merry Christmas. While you're enjoying this wonderful holiday, let's not forget the true meaning behind it. It was a joyful day for all mankind when Jesus was born.
Take a moment to say thank you for your many blessings.
*
This being Christmas morning, I hope when you get up you find that Santa brought you everything you wanted. When he stopped by my house for his hot chocolate and cookies, he told me that he thought he managed to get most of what everyone asked for. Wow! Great job, Santa!!!

Moo and Tootsie and I celebrated our Christmas late last evening. Moo got all sorts of wonderful things, but the best was his "Mr. Grinch" shorts. I will definitely have to get a picture of him wearing them.

Miss Tootsie also got lots of nice things, including clothes, a new blanket, toys, treat, and a big container of gourmet cookies which she guarded with her life.
And I have to show you the gorgeous Orange roses that Dee and Eddie and the kids brought for me. Oh my, they are really beautiful!
I got so many lovely presents and I did take a lot of pictures (Moo helped take some), but I will show more of them tomorrow. Before I get back to work here (I'm at work now, but Mrs. is still asleep), let me tell you about the lottery tickets that the kids gave me last night. Boy oh Boy!!!!!!! Between the two tickets, I won $515. How about that!! Thank you, thank you. Now I will have to do some serious thinking about how to spend it!

It's back to work for me now. Y'all have a really splendid day.

It's Christmas Eve

December 24, 2009

Wowee!! It's Christmas Eve already! Gosh, and I have lots to do today. One last gift to wrap (sort of). Can't talk about that one now, you never know who's listening!! Also, there is laundry to do today. I probably should have done it yesterday, but I was busy then too. My laundry will have to wait for a few hours though.

Remember the plumber that was coming yesterday to fix a badly leaking hot water pipe? Well, he fixed it - and another pipe in the cellar. And then he dropped the news. the hot water heater was in a bad way, and was going to be needing to be replaced soon along with all the pipes that go with it. Gee whiz! Just the kind of news I was looking for!!

So this morning, they are back down in the cellar unhooking things, taking away the old one, and installing a new hot water heater. This new one comes with a ten year warranty. In all fairness, the old one lasted a whole lot longer than ten years, so it probably makes the warranty a bit moot.

On a brighter note, tonight's the night that children everywhere will be dreaming of Santa Claus and the presents he might be bringing. I'm one of the lucky ones because he will stop here for a cup of cocoa and some cookies in between his deliveries. Don't forget to leave him a snack, and maybe some carrots for the reindeer. With all that rushing here and there, they will get very hungry.

Yesterday was my friend Su's birthday, and here is the card that I made for her.

I have a photo to share with you too. Miss Tootsie has been checking and guarding the gifts around the tree. Sometimes she just lays down near them to nap. I wonder what she is dreaming about then.

Well, I must get busy now. There are things to do to get ready for tonight's visits. I want to wish every one of you a most peaceful Holiday season. Y'all have a Merry Christmas now.

Two More Days Till Christmas!

December 23, 2009

Gosh! Just two more nights and it's Christmas! My, where has the year gone? It wasn't that long ago that we were all waiting for the warm weather to get here, and not only has it gone by but it's a whole new cycle beginning. But wait! The good news is that it is only 86 more days till Spring!!!

Well, we had a bit of excitement around here yesterday. The burner man had to come to check the new furnace, which doesn't seem to know when to turn on or shut off properly. Then I had to check all the rooms in the house to make sure there were no open windows. So of course, some of the dwarfs are not too happy with me. One would think that they were smart enough to keep their windows closed when the heat is on.

Then, Moo discovered a leak in a water heat pipe in my pantry. It's been a real quiet leak, so we never heard it before. Meanwhile, it's been rotting the floor boards under the tiles. This morning, a plumber is coming to try to fix it. Then we will probably have to rip up part of the floor and replace it. Just another one of the joys of owning a house.

The weather outside is COLD!!! It's only in the teens, and with the wind chill factor it seems like about 4 degrees Fahrenheit. The weather man now says we have a lot of rain and freezing rain coming for the weekend. I suppose it could be worse - it could come on Christmas Day. But either way, it's not really fun, and I'm not looking forward to going out in it. Brrr!

Do you remember the picture I showed a few days ago of that little rose bud that was still trying to bloom? Well, once the heavy snows came, the poor little thing just couldn't survive. But even in demise, it was still quite pretty. Have a look.

I have another cute photo to share. On my way to and from work, I pass a yard that is decorated with a whole family of wooden reindeer, that are all dressed up in big red bows and lights. Unfortunately, there is a lot of snow on the reindeer, but I thought you might like to see them anyway. Later, I will try to get another photo when there is no snow covering them.
Another cute photo I have was taken last Friday, just before the snow came. The birds were busy finding food, and this little squirrel was also quite busy stocking up on food.
Well, now I think it's time for me to start moving a few things before the plumber gets here. Not exactly what I had in mind to do this morning, but oh well. Y'all have a wonderful day now.

Beautiful Cards And One Special Ornament

December 22, 2009

Good afternoon!! Yup, it's afternoon. Tootsie and I slept late today, and then I read my emails and worked on today's freebie. As most of you know, I have a very special daughter who lives in a nursing facility. To be exact, Seven Hills of Groton (Massachusetts). You will have to look far and wide to find another facility that equals the quality of care that is given at Seven Hills. We are very fortunate that our Laura Jean is able to live there.

Which brings me to my new ornament. From time to time, the staff at Seven Hills sends me photographs showing Laura Jean at her day to day activities. A few days ago, they sent me a new ornament for my tree. These ornaments are made by the residents in one of their craft classes. I've made a layout to go with my beautiful new ornament.

This year, I have received so many beautiful cards, so I've taken photos to show some of them off. I was going to put a lot of them on the wall, but instead, I've sprinkled some in between gifts , and placed others on the TV console.
*

*
There are more, but I think I will have to put them on the wall first, then take more photos. Yesterday, the mailman brought several packages too. Wow!!! You'd think it was Christmas around here!!! Duh, Edna! It is!!!!!
*
There were gifts from my children, my friend Mary Ann, and Snowy. Mercy me, so many packages to put under the tree. This year I have to work on Christmas Day, so we will be celebrating on Christmas Eve. I'm like a little kid giddy with excitement. Just can't wait for Santa to get here. (Oh yeah! Tootsie and I have been very good, so he will surely put a little something under the tree for us!)
*
I do have more photos to share, but they can wait for another day. Your freebie today is the matching QP for today's layout. I've changed the ornament that is being hung to make it more personal for you. Enjoy, and Y'all have a really great day now.

It's Not My Favorite Stuff, But It Is Beautiful!

December 21, 2009

Thank goodness Santa has a sleigh and flying reindeer. He will need them with all this snow everywhere. Last night, the roads were not so hot. Not too bad, but not so great either. The main roads were bare, but wet and starting to freeze. The side roads and back roads were still covered with hard packed snow.

I really did try to get a couple of pictures of the lights, but it was not meant to be. One night soon, I will try to get out and take some photos. Meanwhile, you will have to settle for some daytime snow pictures.

I don't know about everywhere else, but here and at work, we had at least 18 inches of snow. Yesterday morning, I stepped outside my door to take some snow photos, and forgot that it was not shoveled yet. I stepped out into snow up to my knees. And it still snowed for five more hours!

Moo and most of the dwarfs were outside shoveling for hours. All the cars had to be cleaned off, moved and the snow around them cleared. A lot of the snow was put into the middle of the yard so that the plow (if he ever shows up) can move it all away off to the side yard. Here are some of those snow photos.

Where do we put the rest???????

Even Miss Tootsie was out for a few minutes. I'm not sure what she could see, but it sure perked her interest!

This last photo is little tiny bird tracks that were on the trash can lid this morning. This can is on the porch, and had already been cleaned off, but then we got a bit more snow. Moo was all excited when he found these tracks this morning. Let's face it, they are rather cute!

*
Thank goodness when I got home this morning, the plow guy had come during the night, so everyone was able to get out to go to work, and I was able to get back in. He was probably so exhausted from all his plowing, that he probably doesn't want to see anymore snow for at least a little while. Unfortunately, we do have more coming this week.
*
I know I was going to show pictures of my cards today, but I will save them for tomorrow. Later today, I will see about getting a freebie ready for tomorrow. Well, I'm off now to get a few things done around here. Y'all have a fantabulous day now.

That White Stuff Keeps Coming Down!

December 20, 2009

Well, Good Morning, and a snowy one it is!! The snow came here rather late last night, even though some towns near us had already been getting it for a couple of hours. We did get a lot of wind though, during the evening and night just before the snow came.

When Tootsie and I got up at 3:15 for her potty trip, everything outside was covered in snow. So we ambled back to bed for a few more hours snooze. By 7:30 though, it was time to get up and see how bad things were looking outdoors. Well, it wasn't great, but I expected a lot worse.

However, it isn't over yet. The weatherman says this won't stop till later, then we might get more overnight tonight. There's more snow on the horizon for Tuesday and Friday too. Oh joy! Oh joy! I took a few photos so that I might share some of this delightful white stuff with all of you. Especially you, Snowy!!
*

This little rosebush is right outside my door. Seems like it is pretty whether in bloom or not, but especially pretty when covered with snow or ice. You can see by the background that the snow is still coming down. It looks like an almost whiteout out there. Before taking this photo, I took one through my living room window. It's just a different view, but you can see the snow stuck all over the screen and the whiteout effect.
*

*
Do you remember that little rose bush at work that doesn't seem to know when to quit? Well, Friday was bitterly cold out, and yet, when I looked there was this little rose bush still trying to produce a bloom. I could not resist taking yet another photo of it.
*

*
If the little rosebud is still there in the morning, I will try to get another photo of it covered with snow. Tomorrow, I will also show you some of the beautiful cards that Miss Tootsie and I have been receiving. Till then, Y'all have a beautiful day.

We Will Be Buried In Snow!!!

December 19, 2009

Glory be! There's a ton of snow coming our way. It's working it's way up the Eastern coast, and will be here by tonight and through the night and during the day tomorrow. Rats!!!!! I don't mind a few flakes, but give me a break!! I don't need a foot of snow, especially where there is still more coming during the week. I know I should be thankful it won't be two feet like some other places are getting already. But our weathermen have a reputation for being not quite accurate. If they say a foot, it usually means a foot and a half or worse!!!

I already know that it will be miserable traveling in the morning when I am trying to get home, and I will have a tough time just getting in my own yard, so I have made arrangements for someone who lives closer t0 work to go in for me. However, I do still have to go in tomorrow, most likely several hours early, because it is going to be tough traveling for everybody. Let's hope our plow guy can get here by late morning. Most likely, he will have to come back for another clean up later in the day too.

While looking for some photos to scrap, I came across this article that was printed in the newspaper for Christmas 1995. The newspaper journalist just happened to be in the coffee shop that Chrstmas morning at the same time as when Santa stopped in for a hot cup of coffee. It was cold out that day, and we had been busy making some special deliveries. You know folks, I've been telling everybody for a long time that Santa is my personal friend. I know that some of you don't really believe me, but it's true.
*

Can you tell, I just love this guy? He has always been so good to me. For many years, he has worked with me to bring lots of joy and happiness to my family and friends, and so many other folks. Hey, Rhoda, does this bring back memories? Those were the days, huh?
*
I've just been talking with Audrey, and so far they have been getting soaked with scads and scads of rain. She says that later today they may also get snow on top of all the rain. Oh yuck!!!!! When it rains, the long road going in to her house turns into a virtual mud tub. Add some snow to that, and oh dear! Not a pretty site at all.
*
I also got some bad news today. My friend Kyra has had a bit of trouble with her PC, and has lost everything that was in it. Now she will have to start over re-installing her programs, and trying to re-build her scrap resources. Unfortunately, a lot of her files are gone because they were not backed up yet. So Kyra, if you read this, just tell me what I can do to help you. We all will help, my friend.
*
Enough of my babbling for today. Before I leave, I will post your freebie, which is the matching QP to yesterday's layout of Santa. I hope you like it. Y'all have a fantastic day now.

Only 93 Days Till Spring!

December 18, 2009

Just seven more days, oh boy, oh boy!! I'll bet children everywhere are getting just a bit antsy now and displaying their best behaviors. Even Tootsie has been on her best behavior. You probably did not know that even the animals love Santa Claus, and anxiously await his arrival. But yes, they do!!

This will be a short post today because I am at work. The Mrs. is still asleep, so I thought I would use this time to make a short post. I have a layout to share that I made last night. This one features a very tired Santa helper. He had been making deliveries all through the night, and was just now getting to sit for a while. Poor darling!

I did make a matching QP for you, but you will have to wait till tomorrow for it because I did not have enough time to make a link. I will do that later when I get home. Special credits for resources used on this layout go to Lady Shannon and BAZ.
*
Also of note, there is a sale going on at Magickal Scraps today through December 22. This would be a good time to pick up some beautiful kits for your holiday scrapping. Happy shopping!http://www.magickalscraps.com.
*

I hope it is warm where all of you live, because it is like a freezer here. My car was begging me to just leave it be and not make it work! But alas, I did have to use it. It is much too cold to use my broom for transportation. Just think, only 93 days till Spring. Oh boy! I can't wait!! Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Did You Know, Women Are Angels?

December 16, 2009

One day down, nine more to go!! This time of year is very exciting. I think as I grew older, I became much more snoopy than my kids ever were. I love to give a little suspense with a gift, but I am so bad with my own suspenseful gifts. I poke things (gently), wiggle them a bit, maybe even a soft shake or two, all this to figure out what is hidden inside the paper. Just plain naughty!!

You know, it's not the getting of gifts that I enjoy the most about this holiday season, it's the extra love that seems to come from most everyone you meet, and even those persons you have never met. It's the smile on that elderly lady's face, when I showed her how to fix her bag more securely in her shopping cart. Even better when her face glowed when I told her to have a Merry Christmas now. And the old gentleman in front of me at the cash register - he was fishing every pocket to find another quarter, so I gave him one. Such a beautiful smile you never did see! It really doesn't take very much to spread a little love.

Yesterday I got a call from the hospital. It seems that Tootsie has an infection, and the doctor wants her back in for even more blood work. I did something terrible then. I copped an attitude and told the technician on the phone that I was getting really tired of having to live my whole life around running back and forth to the hospital every week, sometimes more often.

The poor girl, it wasn't her fault that I was upset, and I did try to apologize, but I should not have said these things in the first place. Today when we go back to the hospital, I shall have to apologize to the doctor too. They have done so much to keep my Tootsie as well as she can be. I need to take my own advice and be grateful for what I have and what I can do.

This morning is another early morning for Tootsie and me. We got up at 3:45, and stayed up. I made a cup of coffee, and proceeded to finish up my gift wrapping. So now everything is wrapped and under the tree. Finished! Yeah-h-h-h! Now I just have a few more cards to finish addressing, and I can sit back and enjoy the rest of the holiday season.

A few days ago, a friend sent me the cutest little sign that I want to share with you here. When I saw it, I thought "How true!"

Today's freebie will be Parts 3 & 4 of "Hanukkah Joy." I made separate previews of the papers and the elements, so I will show you those today. Right now, I think I shall make another cup of coffee, and maybe clean up all the remnants from the gift wrapping that is all around my bedroom.

Miss Tootsie got a new sweater yesterday, so I will see about taking a new photo of her today. She tends to hide or keep her face down when I have my camera out. Funny, the dwarfs are like that too! Y'all have a fantabulous day now.

ONLY 10 MORE DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS

December 15, 2009

Wow, only ten more days till Christmas! Can you believe it? I know I've said it before, but where has this year gone? I had so many things to do this year, and in my wildest dreams, there is no time to do them. There is a song called "Don't Blink" and let me tell you, it's right on the money!!!

Time is such a precious commodity, and we don't even realize it until we see shadows following us everywhere. Stop and smell a rose today. Do something nice for a stranger. Smile at an elderly person and tell them "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays." You'll feel so much better for it.

Another nice thing to do - gather up some old blankets and extra pet food, and cut out a lot of pet food coupons and take all this to your nearest animal shelter. Better yet, get your neighbors and friends involved and collect some money too. The animals will be ever so grateful, and you will feel so good about yourself. A person who cares for and loves animals is indeed a very beautiful person. So smile and be beautiful today. Miss Tootsie thanks you and sends her woofs.

Yesterday, I tried to stay awake all day, but by the time we finished supper last night, my little eyelids were getting very heavy. So I curled up on the sofa with Tootsie, and dozed off while attempting to watch "Wheel of Fortune" on television. By the time I woke up, it was bedtime for Bonzo here, so I turned off the lights and the TV, grabbed a couple of snacks for Tootsie and myself, and we promptly went to bed, and back to sleep.

Till 4:30 this morning. That's when I turned on my PC, and started doing a few things on it. So far, I've managed to organize some Christmas music, upload and get links for today's freebie, and post to my blog here. Not bad so far. Later, Miss Tootsie has an appointment at the beauty salon. A girl has to look her best for Santa!!

Oh my! Let me tell you what a lovely surprise the postman brought for us yesterday afternoon. A box from Kyra!!! Wowee!! It was chock full of presents, which of course, I promptly put right under my little Christmas tree. Gosh, it's starting to get quite full under there!! Have a lookee!

Now I think it's time to post today's freebie. "Hanukkah Joy" is a good sized kit, with 12 backgrounds and 22 elements. So I will post Parts 1 & 2 today, and Parts 3 & 4 tomorrow. I hope you like it. Y'all have a really marvelous day now.

More Birdie Pics For You

December 14, 2009

Miss Tootsie and I just got back from her doctor appointment. Thank goodness, she doesn't have to go back for two weeks! Today is looking quite nice, weatherwise. Yesterday morning was bright and sunny. Then in the afternoon while I was napping, the rains did cometh!! Oh boy, did they ever!! And it rained all night too. Early this morning, the roads were quite icy. Even my car was covered in a layer of ice. Yup yup, the joys of Winter!

Back on a lighter note, I think today I will share some more of my blue jay photos. I just love the coloring in these birds. When the master painter designed Mother Nature's creatures, He did a marvelous job. This first photo isn't really the greatest photo, but I like it because it shows the patterns on the wing spread. The blue jay in the photo was trying to grab hold on the bird feeder.

That's it for the bird photos for a while. I'll have to find something else to photograph now. Tomorrow, I will have a new kit for you. It's the Hanukkah kit that I made for the color challenge at Magickal Scraps. I just have to zip it up and make some links. If you want a free Hanukkah kit today, then visit Kyra's blog at http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com/. She has a lovely kit posted today.

Last night I was not able to finish addressing the rest of my cards, so I'll have to do that today. I spent a good part of the evening downloading from Al's site at AFX. (see his link above my Comment Box on the right side of this page.) That man need's to take a long coffee break!! I'll be unzipping for a month now!! Maybe not, Snowy sent me a link for a batch unzip program. Hopefully it will work for me and I can unzip everything in just a short amount of time. Gosh, that would be wonderful!

I'm off now to create a bit of mischief and fun for today. (That's usually pretty easy to do in a house filled with dwarfs!) Y'all have a fantastic day now.

A Lovely New Ornament For My Tree

December 13, 2009

Brrr! The sun is shining this morning, but it is COLD!! I guess it's appropriate weather, considering that Winter is only a week away, but that does not mean that I have to like it.

I think in a little while here I am going to get into some warm jammies, and curl up on the sofa with the fireplace on and watch some TV. Most likely nap!! Poor Tootsie is sitting here thinking, "Are you kidding? Another nap?" Maybe I'll play a bit with her first, then hop on the sofa.

Please forgive any misspellings this morning. I try to catch them all, but it is not easy. I have a bandaid on my first finger, and it is raising havoc on my typing!! Yesterday, I got a beautiful Christmas card from Kyra. Inside it was a beautiful ornament, which I immediately hung on the top of my teeny weeny tree. Here is my card.

And here is my tree with my beautiful new ornament on the top of it. My little tree has fiber optic lights built into the tips of the branches, so there is no need to add lights. I did hang a few very small ornaments (not midget sized) on the bottom of the tree, but they look enormous. I made this layout to show how the colors on the tree keep changing. Plus, we had to make a layout showing our Christmas tree for one of the challenges.

Yesterday afternoon, I got a wonderful spurt of design mode, and was able to finish up my portion of the January DD kit, and get it all uploaded. Then I started on February. If this keeps up, I can get fairly caught up on all my projects. Want to see a sneak peek at one piece of the January kit? Sh-h-h-h! Don't tell anyone I showed you this!

And, of course, I have another beautiful shot of this morning's moon. I added some background noise to the photo so that you could see (if you look really close) the whole moon. This shot fascinated me. I hope you like it.

Ok, that's enough of my babbling for this morning. Time to make a cup of coffee, change into jammies, and play a bit with Miss Tootsie. Y'all have a really fantastic day now.
