The Heart's Still Ticking

May 12, 2021

Good morning.  It's looking really pretty outside my door this morning.  The sun is shining and temps will be in the upper fifties today.  Starting tomorrow, temps go up a bit more.  Woo Hoo!

Well, I still have to talk with Mr. Dave.  When I called him, the line was busy and I got side-tracked.  I did get some other important calls made.  And, my doctor called to say that the results from me wearing the heart monitor came back.  All good news.

I do, however, have to work on lowering my cholesterol count.  I'm amazed that I got to be as old as I am considering that I never watched what I was eating.  I was never a fish and nuts person.  I'm still not.  I'm more a pasta person.

Ah well, I'll figure it out.  I'll need to make a new chart that shows the amounts of sodium and cholesterol in everything that I eat.  Hopefully, I'll still be able to enjoy some of my favorite meals.

On a fun note, are any of you bird lovers?  Can you identify this pretty little bird?  It landed on the fence in Audrey's yard and she took this photo.  She's never seen it before, and I'm not sure what it is.

I found several birds in my books that look somewhat like this bird, but I can't say for sure just what it is.  Any ideas?

Here's another pretty picture.  This is Deanne's new rose bush.  Such a beauty!

The two pocket wraps that I'm working on are coming along.  They each have less than forty rows to go before I make the pockets.  Yesterday the pink yarn that I had ordered came so that will be the next one that I make.

Today is "Blue Bloods" marathon on TV so guess what I'll be watching all day.  On that note, I'm off to make a hot cup of coffee to enjoy while I'm watching TV.  So, till next time, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I've always been one to eat what I want, but sadly it seems as we grow older, everything is off limits :(
I think the little bird is a Brown-crested Flycatcher....very pretty.
Enjoy the warmer temps coming your way!
Hugs,

Pity you didn;t reach Mr. Dave. May be tomorrow you'll have more luck.
Good news from your doctor, now just that cholesterol stuff. Yeah, it isn;t fun to have to pay attention to what you eat. But with some small changes a good result can be there already.

I have no idea what sort of bird that is. I am very bad in recognizing birds. Think it is quite a beautiful bird.

Deanne's new rose bush looks beautiful. Very special blooms.

Here it was a nice day today, with sunshine almost all day, and now it rains a bit.

Have a lovely day, stay safe.
Hugs
Kyra

I think that bird is a phoebe, but I'm not 100 percent sure.

I know what you mean about cholesterol. I have high cholesterol and my doctor always nags me about it. In my case, it's genetic -- my mom has very high cholesterol too, despite the fact that we always eat well. (Or almost always, ha!) Fortunately we don't have heart disease in our family.

Hi Edna,
I was glad to read your test came out well.. My husband has to watch his salt intake as well. he has heart disease. He had a heart attack in 2016. Of course I had to change how he ate because he loves his pasta and cheese and baked goods but it had to be done. Now I will make red meat twice a month, potatoes twice a month and pasta for him twice a month. I read the salt content on everything I buy and I stopped cooking with salt and use spices now instead. Thankfully he was never a big salt eater to begin with but if he eats meats like Ham too much his feet will swell up. He takes a water pill every day but we still have to keep an eye on what he eats...

Actually, I think Jo is right -- I'm changing my vote to brown-crested flycatcher, too!

So sympathetic. It seems every time I see one doctor or another I need to cut down/out something. The latest was coffee and diet lemonade. The diet lemonade was to treat another condition I had. At first I thought "No," but I've cut down and the results are great. Definitely not my choice, but doable. The rose bush is beautiful. Have a great day!
