Good morning. I thought I was going to be up all last night too, but finally blessed sleep came to me. Thank goodness because the cough has lingered on for so long that it now hurts when I cough. When I sleep, I'm not coughing.
One good thing during this whole episode with this bug is that I was very well stocked in most all our supplies. Of course, by now there is much more room in the freezer and on the pantry shelves. I thought that I would be back to doing my food shopping by this week, but it was not to be. Joe went to Walmart yesterday and picked up some things for me. Food shopping isn't exactly the kind of outing that one could get excited about, but when you can't get out to do it, you definitely miss it.
Last night, I spent some time on the internet doing a bit of shopping. Oh yeah, I even did a bit of Christmas shopping too. This time I used my brain and had the holiday package shipped directly to my daughter in Virginia. She can put it away until it is time to set it under her Christmas tree, and I won't have to be paying double shipping charges. (store to me, me to her)
You know how it is when you find a fabulous buy, and you know it won't be available later in the year when you're going to be needing it? For some reason, all the good stuff is going to be much more expensive later in the year. Actually, I've been shopping early my whole adult life. It started from necessity and became a fun habit.
Up to now, I usually shop, put everything away till late Fall, then pack it up and ship it off to the recipients. The last few years though, the cost of mailing packages has gotten quite expensive, so sometimes I just ship direct and let my daughter have the fun of storing the package for the rest of the year. (See? I do have a naughty side!)
Today I have some photos that I took a couple of days ago. The flowers in our little gardens by the house are blooming beautiful. The yellow daffodils haven't blossomed yet, but they are getting quite tall. Pretty soon they will be waving their pretty blooms too.
In a little while, I need to move all the plants outside to my door step and give them a drink of water. It is still too cool at night to leave them out so Joe will bring them all back in after supper. Dwarf Helen is going to be planting a bunch of herbs today, so these too will be placed outside during the day and brought inside at night for a while.
Later today, I will take photos of the finished shawls. Then I will have a look through my yarn supply to see which color I want for my next project. In between projects, I add a few rows to the Claret afghan. I think I want to try making another shrug. The first one came out a bit small, so I will have to figure out how to increase the pattern size. This should keep me busy for a while.
Well, that's about all my news for today. So until Sunday, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous weekend.
Hugs, Edna B.

So sorry you are not doing better. I've been on the slow side this week also. I had to take some muscle relaxers and they make me very fatigued. Sorry I didn't tell you about these tablets and maybe they will help. Have someone to go to walgreen and ask the pharmacy for Walt-D.(with loratadine) It is behind the pharmacy counter and you have to show I.D to buy it. It's ok for those with highblood pressure if you have it because my pain keep mine elevated. My doctor prescribed these to me and for 2 years now, it has kept me out of the emergency room. I had to take these to clear up all the congestion, sinus etc. Afterward, she prescribed me the pure loratadine and I take those frequently. You might want to ask your doctor about those also. The only problem is, our medicare part D will not pay for those. That's ok too, because when you're feeling terrible, it doesn't matter.(lol)By the way the Walt-D is not very costly. Here at the walgreen they are approximately 1.00 a pill based on the quantity you get in the box. Everyone I told about these pills were up and going in a few days. You only can take one a day. When you clear up, just keep some and when you feel it coming on, take one or as many as you need. ex.3 in 3 days etc. Let me know how you are feeling.
I sure hope you get over that cough. Honey sometimes will help . Not a cure but soothes your throat. Thanks for your prayers and concerns. My DIL is on her way home. Restrictions for 6 months. It has been a rough 10 days. Feel better.
Thanks for the info. I already take a muscle relaxer, just not too often. Mine is not covered, but when it's needed, well we do what we have to do. But it's good to know that there is a non-prescription med that will help.
Today I actually resorted to a pain med because the coughing has about frazzled my last nerve. haha. I can put up with just so much pain before I yell "uncle".
I think $1 a pill is reasonable for the relief it will provide.
I hope you are feeling better soon too. You have a wonderful weekend. Hugs, Edna B.
Hi Edna,
I am so sorry that your still battling that cough. I bought some of those chalky kind of peppermint sticks and put them in a mason jar, added some whiskey and lemon and sealed it for a couple of days. I now have a syrup that isn't too bad. It has helped me at night but I don't take it during the day. It is the sneezing that I can't seem to get a handle on right now. Allergies to all of these beautiful blooming plants, bushes and trees I bet.
I think that it is fabulous that you sent the package to your daughter and that she can store it. I know me... the temptation would be very hard to wait for Christmas lol. My son Matt and I use to do the same for my grandson in Nevada. It sure saved a lot of money and headaches at the holiday madness of waiting at the post office and the expense of it as well.
Beautiful pictures today of your daffodils. One of my favorite flowers. It is a good thing that they are so hardy considering the harsh winter that you had.
I am off to work on my blog. It has been a long night and I want to get it done and head back to bed... Hugs, Beth
Now you will have to get rid of that awefull cough, it will take some more time. But glad you finally had a good sleep.
Yout daffodils are so lovely. I had some in my garden too, but they all disappeared. Perhaps I will buy some bulbs to plant them for next year.
Good idea sending the packages for Christmas right away to you daughter.
And yes, shipping a package isn;t cheap. It even sometimes costs more than the whole content.
Like you I always try to look around for some nice presents for Christmas already early in the year.
I stock them all together for the right time.
I smiled when I read that nw even a shopping round could be great fun, after being in the house such a long time. But it is true. I love being at home, but it shouldn;t last for too long.
Let's cross fingers you will be some steps better after the weekend, hey?
Have a lovely weekend,
Hug
Kyra
(lol) I am so sorry for running that meds in with the muscle relaxers. The Walt-D that you get at the pharmacy counter at walgreen is for allergies, colds and sinus. I stopped by to read your blog and when I looked I was reading the Friday blog, forgetting you don't post on saturday. It's good I did so you will have a better knowledge of what I was talking about. I typed that lying in bed. (laughing)
