Some Nights Are Just Not Good For Crocheting

April 9, 2015

Good morning.  Today is cloudy and a bit damp.  It's a good day to stay indoors but I do have to go out in a couple of hours.  Today is my appointment with the orthopedic doctor for a routine check up.  I have a nasty headache so I really don't want to go out, but I will.

Yesterday, Pogo and I went back to JoAnn's to return the sharp crochet hooks.  Of course, while we were there we took advantage of senior discount day and bought a new set of crochet hooks and a yarn holder.

It was so nice out that we stopped at Burger King afterwards.   We picked up some lunch and headed for the park.  Oh what a lovely day it was to have lunch at the park.  The sun was shining and it was fairly warm.  There were lots of other folks there, some walking their dogs and others just enjoying watching the ducks and geese.

I took some more photos, and was glad to see a pair of swans in the water.  I haven't had a chance to check out the photos and crop a few but I will do that later today.  Last evening, DIL Janet came by and brought me four big pots of purple and orange pansies and a pan of homemade cookies.  Now I can't wait till I can plant those pansies outdoors.

Today I have photos of the other plants that are also waiting to be put into the garden.  I probably shouldn't have bought them, but I can't seem to resist a beautiful bloom.  In the first photo, the one plant in the front (with just buds) blossomed the day after I took the photo.  The blooms are a beautiful red.

I also took a photo of our Christmas Cactus which has been going crazy with gorgeous blooms this year.  This plant gets prettier every year.

Last evening, after Janet left, I settled in to do a bit of crocheting on the green shrug that I'm making.  I finished off the first skein of yarn and attached the second skein.  After putting on a few rows I noticed that the two greens were not the same color.  On the skeins they look the same, but they have different dye lot numbers and are definitely not the same shade of green.

They don't sell this yarn around here, so I ripped out all rows done with the new skein and set this project aside until I can figure out what to do with it.   I may have to use a variegated yarn to finish this project.  We'll see.

Next I picked up the new pattern book and decided to try a new scarf pattern.  Oh wow, this was just not my night for crocheting.  I tried first one pattern, and after five rows, I ripped it out because I could not figure out how to make the rows come out right by following the pattern.

The next pattern that I tried was rather pretty (in the picture in the book).  However, after doing about six rows, it started looking like a bunch of unruly knots.  It was coming out even, but it was quite ugly. Once again, I started over with yet another pattern.  Yeesh, I don't like this one either.  It's time to put everything in the knitting bag and go to bed.

Later today, I'll see what I can do to fix the shrug.  A lot of the new yarns do not use dye lot numbers so I never thought to look at them before I started this project.  A lesson learned!

Now I think I'll have me a cup of coffee and catch up a bit on my blog reading.  So till tomorrow, Yall have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

p.s.  I took two Excedrin Migraine tablets before I started typing this post, and now my headache is gone.  Woo Hoo!!

Glad to hear that the headache is gone. Nothing better than to be pain free.

What gorgeous flowers. I use to have a Christmas Cactus that I gave away when I moved from Nevada. It was so gorgeous. I have to see about getting another, it will grow beautifully here. I have just enough light for it.

The cookies sound so good. I think that I will whip up a batch of peanut butter cookies today. It has been awhile since I made cookies.. (Christmas)so they will be a nice treat.

So sorry to hear about the dye lots on the yarn. Can you call the store where you bought the yarn and see if they can ship some to you? Just a thought.

Well I have neglected my blog for the last couple of days so I am going to go and update it now.

Have a great day! Hugs, Beth

At first I thought your title was Some Nights Are Just Not Good for Clothing and I was going to agree.
We're in Oklahoma and it's warm with very high humidity.

I have been thinking of getting the Excedrin for my headaches. I can't take the maintenance med that I was on and right now I have nothing. I had a migraine last week but it only lasted two days. Much better than two months.
We had a lightening strike hit somewhere outside our house. I instantly had a headache because of that. After the strike there was an immediate flash and boom. We lost the internet box and out phone. Everything else was fixable. It's been quiet without the telemarketers calling.
Crazy bad weather all over. There are tornados sighted in Ohio right this minute. Not near us, though.
Too bad about the yarns and patterns.
I hope your ortho appt. went okay. Sometimes those forced outings help lift your spirits.
Since it has been storming her today I have stayed in. Another showing at 9 a.m. tomorrow. Crazy people coming that early.
Have a good week-end.

Headaches are aweful to have. They make you feel bad all over. Glad the tablets helped.
Ghee, no luck with crocheting hey? First the different greens, then no pattern found that you like, I just know how it feels, really!
But you will find a good and easy to do stitch, for sure.
Those lillies are beautiful, we have some too in the garden and they have started to grow. But it will take some time before they will bloom. I don't mind that too much, as long as they bloom some day.
And so nice of Janet to bring you those pansies. They always make you feel a bit happier, just looking at them isn't it?
Hope your weather will improve soon again.
We really need it to uplift ur spirit a bit.
