The Christmas Lights Are Beautiful

December 23, 2013

Good morning.  I'm still at work, and the Mrs is fast asleep.  Outside the window, there is a thick blanket of fog everywhere.  Hopefully, there's no ice because it will be hard to see.  We're supposed to get quite a lot of rain this morning and that should clear up any ice.  At least until tonight.

Yesterday morning there were quite a few fog patches everywhere until after 8 a.m.  Here's a photo I took of the view across the street from work.

Although there are no more blooms in the gardens, one plant's buds thrive all through the cold winter season.  The Rhododendron's buds grow nicely in this cold weather.  This is one of the Mrs' bushes.

I was not able to catch any winks during the night, so I'm getting quite tired.  Yesterday was not a good napping day.  I'm hoping that today will be better.  I still have a few things to wrap, and Dee and Eddie and the kids are coming by later today, so I want to catch a little nap in the morning.

Tomorrow night, I will be back here to spend Christmas Eve with the Mrs.  I'm really giving some hard thought to retirement in the new year, because I would rather be at home on the holidays.  Next week is New Years Eve and Day, and I'm hoping that someone else will want to work that holiday.  It's not a big deal to me, but I really would rather stay at home with Pogo.

Last night on my way to work, I stopped a few times to take a few photos of the Christmas lights.  Here's a couple that are not far from my house.

I'll try to get a few more in the next few days.  There are so many beautiful holilday displays.  There are also a few folks who decorated some very large trees growing outdoors.  I'll try to get a couple photos of those too.

For those of you who stop by regularly, I will be posting a Christmas QP freebie on Christmas.  The link will be up through the first week in January.  At that time, all links are expired so that I can have my next blog book printed.

I'm listening to the Weather Channel, and they are talking about the areas that got a lot of ice, and the catastrophic damage caused by it.  A lot of folks won't have any electric power for Christmas.  I'm hoping that the power companies will be able to get the electricity back on for these folks real soon.   I'm counting my blessings that we are safe so far from these bad storms.

Now I think I'll go check on the Mrs, and then maybe have a cup of coffee before it's time to pack up and head home.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Your fog shot is simply stunning ... I love what fog does to a picture. The composition and the effect ... I love it!

I'm glad you were able to get some pictures of the decorations outside people's homes. I seem to be in such a hurry ... scurrying here and there, that, though I notice them, I don't have time to take pictures of them. Maybe in the next day or two I will be able to take time out.

I hear you when you say you would rather be home. When I was nursing I always worked the holidays because my kids were grown and there were nurses with kids at the age where having Mom homne was important. New Years Eve was another one I worked. My Hubby and I stopped going out for New Years Eve years ago. We found the roads to be unsafe ... full of thoughtless, inebriated drivers and decided we like the safety and peace and quiet of our own home. We always watch the Ball come down in New York :)

I went to my friends Christmas party last night. It was really very nice. No sit down dinner ... strictly finger foods ... yummy ones, and a lot of home made goodies. I kept busy cleaning up for her while she had the chance to visit with everyone. I had to leave early and I didn't want to leave her there all alone with all of those dirty dishes. I am glad she will be with family Christmas day, because this ia a really hard Christmas for her.

I have a ton of "last minutes" to do today and a few more stocking gifts to wrap. Then I hope I will be able to sit down and relax this evening. I am taking Izzi in to her Chiroprator tomorrow morning. She is turning her right rear foot in so I think she must have pulled something in her pelvis or back jumping wildly in the snow. That's it for me today ... off and running again. I will be glad when the holidays are passed this year. They seem more hectic than usual ... hmmmm. Well you get some rest and have a nice day with your Pogo.

You have fog there and some ice, we have had a storm last night. Not damage done in our garden, as far as I know.
still fierce winds are blowing but calming down a bit.
Glad I don;t really need to go out today.
Retirement for you sounds a real good thing!
If you can afford it, just do it!!!!
I think you worked long enough and deserve some real free time now.
Hope you will be able to get some good sleep this morning and that your shift tonight will be a quiet one. And then..... Christmas day will be there, yeah, unwrapping presents time LOL!
Have a wonderful Christmas, give the wishes also to all the dwarfs and certainly to your family!
Hugs

Merry Christmas, Edna! The fog picture is really good.

Isn't it amazing how different people decorate with lights? I love looking at all the various things people do.

Gosh Edna you take some fabulous photos! Love them all so much! I need to get a few holiday light shots. I my try that tonight unless the snow is too icy! Sigh!
Heading out to pick Nick up from a long run. He stops in at Atlanta Bread and shares breakfast with some former schoolmates and fellow runners. Hugs to you, Anne
