April 1, 2013
It's five o'clock a.m. and I'm at work. It has been raining most of the night, but it now seems to have stopped. Today is supposed to hit near 60 degrees F, then drop back to the low 40's the next couple of days. At least Spring is trying to poke her pretty head out and smile on us. All my plants are poking up through the ground, and pretty soon it will be time to go shopping for new plants.
Can you believe it is already April? Want a laugh? I've already started putting things into my gift drawer for next Christmas. And I've crossed a few names off my list. Every few years I do this. If recipients have not found the time to say thank you in the last couple of years, I cross them off my gift list and send the money instead to an animal shelter. It works for me.
Last night after the Mrs went to bed, I was able to work on one of my photo class lessons for a while. I also worked on a photo for Mandarin Orange Monday. I was looking through some of last year's flower photos, and found a pretty purple hyacinth. Then I thought how pretty it would look in orange, so I re-colored it and gave it a new background. I'm thinking that these would look rather pretty in my garden.
Here's the original photo, and then the orange hyacinth. What do you think?
Today is also opening day for baseball. I'm hoping that this will be a great year for the Red Sox. It's time for another big win for them. However, win or lose I'll still cheer them on.
How about a photo of one the cute little sparrows that come to the Mrs' bird feeder? It's sometimes difficult to take their photo when they are on the ground because they move so quickly. This photo was taken through the patio doors here at work.
I don't really have a lot of news for today, so I think I'll do a bit of blog reading while the Mrs is still asleep. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a beautiful day.
Hugs, Edna B.

pretty!
Good Morning, thank you for the visit and for the prayers, they are greatly appreciated. Been so busy trying to get things covered so if I have to make a visit to see about my sister, I can go with a clear mind that my animals and house are covered and my job and my boss's house...she won't be back until the 6th! Glad you and Pogo had a great Easter and so nice and warmer for you! We were above 80 and all the storms by passed us. Lovely orange flowers too! Sorry is short, but got to get after it here. Have a great Monday! Hugs, Mat
I like your approach to those who do not provide a thank you for gifts they have received. I had this opportunity to teach my nephew the lesson years ago. He calmly asked if I had forgotten his birthday when he did not receive his card and money. I informed him that since he was so overwhelmed with joy before that he was incapacitated to the point he couldn't send a thank you I thought it safer to spare him any further such shocks.
I think those orange hyacinths would look good with my flowers too! Wouldn’t the purple and orange look great together?
Opening Day, one of my favorite holidays! Watching the Red Sox right now; the only teams I ever cheer against the Sox will play at 4:10…on channels 29 & 30 here. Ready to wear out my thumb on the “last channel” button! :)
Go Red Sox, Reds and Tigers!
Hugs, Nani
Would be nice to have orange hyacinth in the garden, but they still don;t exist as far as I know. But.... there are real orange flowers for the garden. Like Hibiscus, tulips, lillies, and more than you think!.
You are right to skip people from your gift list if they don;t even bother to send a little thank you note.
Well, I will have to get some work done here, so till tomorrow!

Well you are getting to be quite the pro with your PS. I love the orange hyacinth. I wish they had such a color ... I would have it in my garden for sure.
Good idea on how to cull the gift list. I do the same with my Christmas card list. If I don't get a card from them in two years, I take them off. At my age , you just don't know ... they might not be sending cards anymore or they just might not be around any more. No way to be sure :(
You are warming up more quickly than we are. We had freezing weather yesterday and the rest of the week is supposed to be in the 40's. Funny how everything is relative ... the 40's feels warm to me at this point.
I liked what Queen Jester did with her nephew. I am guessing her nephew won't forget to say thank you again even if his motive is just to get another gift. Maybe as he grows up, he will learn that it is a matter of showing appreciation when someone does something for you. The kids today seem to have lost site of that.
Well, I am going to keep this short. I am a day late with this comment and will be back looking for today's words of wisdom, so I will see you later, Edna ...

Edna I can see those orange flowers sitting on my table - the combinatins of orange and pinkish orange would look great against my orange walls! I like the sharp edges you have achieved too.
It is starting to get cold here in Australia - socks to bed weather - but not cold by your standards I would think!
Thank you for sharing on Mandarin Orange Monday:)
