Lots Of Goodies To Show You

August 1, 2009

Today was a great day at work. The air conditioner was running, and the breathing air was just wonderful. Not so outside. The weather ran the gamut from a warm and muggy morning, to a very gray and wet afternoon. The sun did try to peek through just a tiny tad, but wasn't strong enough for most folks to see. But still it was a good day.

This is a new month, with a new daily download kit and new slideshow. And there's lots more new stuff this month. First, here is a preview of the Store Part of our new daily download kit. It's a real beauty and it's only $1.50.

Next, everything in Snow Raven's store at Magickal Scraps is on sale for 30% off for a whole week, till next Friday. There's some great kits there, so don't miss out.
*
My next news is that I have put three new regular kits, another frame kit and three new CU kits into my store at Magickal Scraps. And the good part is that they are all on sale for 30% off for 2 weeks. There is "Dylan," "Lilah," 'Tomboy," "Frames - 03," "Nature Trails 01 CU," "Nature Trails 02 CU," and "CU Background Overlays - Set 001." There should be something here for everyone.
*
I will put up some of the previews, along with another sampler for you to play with. That's a lot to take in for one day, so I will close for today, and remember - Y'all have a fantastic day.
*
Hugs, Edna B.

Teeny Tiny Keyboard

July 31, 2009

Have pity on me - this morning I am trying to type here with my webbook. If any of you have one of these, you know how tiny the little keyboards are. My fat little fingers are having the darndest time trying to speed along here. The name of the game is "Go Slow."
We have lots of new things going on at Magickal Scraps starting tomorrow. First, I have uploaded some new kits and we will be having a sale. We also have a brand new Daily Download kit for you called "Men At Work." Tomorrow, I hope to have the new slideshow up so that you can see what the kit looks like.

Starting this month, we will do the daily download kit a bit different. Each day, you will get parts of it as freebies, and the rest of the kit will be offered in the store for only $1.50. This is really quite a bargain, because this is a huge kit. The proceeds from the portion of the kit that you purchase goes toward maintenance costs for the forum. So help us keep our forum alive, and make sure to buy the rest of the kit. It's a beauty.

Tomorrow I will have lots more to share with you, but this is it for today. I am at work, and must get busy here. I will leave you with a free sampler for my Dylan" kit. Tomorrow, I will have another sampler for you. Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

New Kits Coming To My Store

July 30, 2009

Was this not one of the quickest Julys you've ever seen? Seems like it got here just last week, and now it's just about gone. Wow, 30 days just like that!!

Sorry about not posting yesterday, but sometimes when I get on a roll, be it housework or playwork, I forget to stop. I did accomplish a bit, though. I finished up my parts in all the upcoming Daily Download kits through December. Now I can focus on some new things for the store. I will be putting in my Dylan and Lilah kits. Snow Raven and I made coordinating kits that will be delightful for both little boys and little girls.

I also want to make more CU kits. When I first started dabbling in design, CU kits were my best friends. Actually, they still are. Some people are very talented when it comes to making design patterns, and I think it's wonderful that they pass the results of this gift on to the rest of us.

At the moment, it has gotten very gray outside, the skies are making rumbling noises, and the rain is coming down at a pretty good clip. Let's just hope it chases the muggies away. One can almost tolerate the hot weather with a little fan to keep the breezes coming, but the muggies are something else. Sticky and yucky!

Today, I will post previews of my "Dylan" and "Lilah" kits. Then I will see about making you a sampler for tomorrow. Till then, y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

E-Zines, A Great Way To Go

July 28, 2009

Today is not a day for sitting outdoors, it's just too darn hot. I went out to get my newspaper and check the mail, and worked up a lather in just a few steps. I guess I'm not old enough to really enjoy the hot hot stuff. Must be something in the body's system that cools the older person down in 90+ weather. I should maybe look this up so that I will know when I can expect to really enjoy the hottest days. Meanwhile, I sit here in front of my PC and my little fan, and try to be creative.

Each month, I receive a new Photography BB online magazine, and today's mail brought a new one filled with all sorts of wonderful photographs and information. If you are into photography, and would like to receive this wonderful FREE online magazine, check out their website. It's not too late to pick up all of the back issues. http://www.photographybb.com/.

One of my other subscription magazines is offering a much lower cost if I choose to download my magazine as a PDF file. This is something I might have to look into. The only disadvantage would be that I could not sit curled up in a chair and read it, (without my laptop) nor could I share the magazine with a friend. On the other hand, I could afford more magazines. Ah well, we shall see.

This week I should be getting my first issue of my newest subcription, Photoshop Creative. This is my most expensive subscription, so I hope I won't disappointed. This is one of the magazines that I usually try to find at Costco's - provided that they have it in stock and none of the customers with children have protested to have it banned from the bookshelf.

Al Ward at http://www.actionfx.com/ also puts out a monthly e-zine that is geared more for scrapbooking and contains, tutorials, tips, freebies and more. I will have to check around to see what else on this vein I can find that might be useful to all of you (and me!).

If any of you are into photography, and would like some handy tips and tricks, as well as critique on your own work, visit my friend Mary Ann's site. Here, she shares some of her award winning photos, and a lot of wonderful information on different techniques for re-working or re-touching your photos. Say hello when you stop by. http://roeslergallery.web.com/

Before I sign off, I will share a rather pretty photo of a gorgeous blue hydrangea. Actually, this photo shows the "baby" bloom, and the "mature" bloom. It's just amazing how this flower goes from a creamy yellowish shade to a most beautiful blue shade. Enjoy it folks, and y'all have a wonderful day.

Some Great News For Miss Tootsie

July 27, 2009

Well, today brought a nice surprise for Miss Tootsie. I had a phone call from her doctor telling me that her chemo appointments have been moved up again, this time to every seven weeks. So now that little glow of daylight at the end of the tunnel is beginning to shine a bit brighter. It has taken a long time (years) to get to this point, and considering that in the beginning we were told she would be on chemo for the rest of her life, this is fantabulous!!! As long as she stays in remission, this is the beginning of the end of chemo.

Last night, I got a spurt of design energy, and finished up a new kit for the store. This one is called "Tomboy" and will be available August 1. I will have a preview and a sampler for you in a few days.

I have started using brushes more often to design the paper backgrounds. They are quite interesting and fun to use. Why have I not tried this before? Duh! The shapes are also fun to use for creating objects and backgrounds. Maybe if I had a whole class on this program (Photoshop), I'd have gotten into these things earlier. Oh well, better late than never.

I think I need to study my camera manual a bit more, too. Every now and then, I somehow manage to change a setting without realizing it, and then my photos don't come out right. This morning I went outside around 6:30 to get some new photos, and after shooting for about 15 minutes, I checked to see how the pictures looked. You'll never guess! All my photos were in black and white. Well now, how did that happen?

So now it's back to the manual to figure out how to get the color back in the photo. There are days when my brains really scare me. Know what I mean? Like the Murphy's Laws days?

Enough of my babbling. I have a freebie kit for you called "Jasmine." I gave you the QP quite a while ago, but not the kit. So enjoy, and y'all have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Alas! No Doggie Beds Today.

July 26, 2009

Good Morning! It's another beautiful wet morning here in New England. No, I'm not complaining because the rain is keeping the temperature down. Last night at work was very hot and sticky. Not so very good for the breathing.

I did manage to do a bit of shopping on my way home this morning. How is it that at 7:30 in the morning, a store is already out of the sale items when the sale just started at midnight? Are there really long lines of people waiting outside of Walgreen's at midnight to buy up all the doggie beds that are on sale? They also bought up all the Hunt's tomato sauce!! Now that's a fine how do you do.

I was going to post photos of a gorgeous hydrangea this morning, but instead I will post the surprise that I found in my email from Kyra this morning. It's a beautiful two page layout on "Friends." This little lady is such a lovely person. I hope that I get to meet her in person one day in the not too far off future. Thank you so much, Kyra. You've brightened up my morning fantastically!!

I was also going to post a new freebie this morning, but it still needs to be zipped up and sent to cyber space for a link, so I will definitely post it for you tomorrow. Meanwhile, I think I will go spend some quality time with Miss Tootsie. She is laying here beside me being very patient. Enjoy the layouts, and y'all have a spectacular day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Amazing How We Change

July 25, 2009

No rain today (so far!!). Tootsie and I did sleep late this morning. But that is good because tonight is a work night. Today will be just a short post. Have some of those "necessary" things to do - you know, like wash dishes, launder doggie blankets, put out the trash. Yup, the fun stuff.

I have some designing to finish up later. Tonight I will work on another freebie for you. Perhaps that will be ready for posting tomorrow. Right now, I must go rescue the cup of coffee I started making a little while ago. I start it, and then I go do something else like read e-mail. Then my coffee goes cold and I don't want to drink it. So much for my morning coffee.

Ahhhhh, it's a tad cool, but still drinkable. It's amazing how we change over the years. I remember just a few years back, that I always had a coffee mug in my hand or nearby. One would just drink up the coffee, and go for a re-fill. Now, I may or may not have a cup in the morning. Also, I pick up a Dunkin Donuts iced coffee on my way to work at night. Quite a change, I think.

I'm off now. Have to make lunch for Miss Tootsie and get started on my chores. I have a really pretty photo to share with you today. Yesterday afternoon, there were quite a few large black birds up in a tree top making a lot of noise. The trees were a distance away, but I thought maybe I could get a decent photo anyway. Hope you like it. Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Wow!!! Another Post - Same Day!!!

July 24, 2009

I thought I would like to share a couple of beauties with you that I shot this morning in the rain. Hey, Mary Ann, if you're reading this -- you're absolutely right!!!! This new lens is a doozy!!

Y'all have a good one.

Hugs, Edna B.

Soggy Morning

July 24, 2009

This morning I awoke to heavy rain and wind. I'm beginning to enjoy it because it means that it will not be too hot at work today and the air will be easier to breathe. One thing I did notice on my way to work this morning is that the green grass all along the side of the roads and in the yards is such a bright, greeny green. Almost a lime green. I don't think I have ever noticed or seen this before. Must be all the rain we have been getting.

I need to say thank you to you for putting a smile on my face this morning. Even with the rain, this is already a much better day. You are right, my friend, I do tend to try to carry too much of a load without asking those around me for help. I will have to work on this.

These past few weeks, I have not been able to get an internet connection on my little webbook, but this morning so far, I am lucky. See? I told you it is already a better day. I will have to go outside sometime this morning and see if I can get a beautiful photo to share with you. I really do enjoy photographing the flowers when they are covered with raindrops.

****It is now a couple hours later, and I did manage to get a few photos, but they will have to wait till I get home to be able to put them into the computer. I forgot to bring the little transfer thing with me . I must remember to leave one in my work bag for "just in case" situations like this.

I did manage to do a bit of blog hopping this morning, and of course that gave quite a nice uplift to my day. I see that the rain in England gave way to some lovely weather in time for the annual Air show, and Snow Raven and her son have been having a wonderful time. But now it seems that the rain has shifted over to Holland, and Kyra is getting the same lovely wet stuff that we have here. Pretty soon it will change back, and we will be enjoying the sunshine again.

****Well, I still have a couple more hours before I can go home, and I have errands to do on the way, so I think I will post this without a photo so that my friends will know I am back and okay. Y'all have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Funky BLue Week

July 23, 2009

For some reason, this is a rather blue funk week for me. I just can't seem to get motivated to do much of anything. The PC doesn't call out to me, nor do my books, and obviously the housework isn't interesting. It sort of feels like I am carrying a large ball all by myself, and now I'm getting tired and don't want to carry it anymore. Strange.

It is a very depressing feeling to know that the people closest to you either can't or don't want to help you, and the people who are the farthest away from you are always trying to help. We are a strange lot, us humans. Ahhhh, but this will pass, and I will persevere.

So far today, I have taken care of the meds, put in a load of laundry, made lunch for my Tootsie, brought in the mail, and answered a couple of emails. I must say that is more than I did most of yesterday.

I did get to go last evening with my daughter in law. She and I and Tootsie hopped into the car, picked up some delicious fast food, and went to the park to enjoy the scenery while we ate that fantastic food. We each tried out the new Angus Burgers that MacDonald's now carries. Hers was covered with mushrooms, and mine was topped with bacon. Miss Tootsie had a double cheeseburger. Mmmmmmmmmm. Yup! We did pig out, and boy oh boy, did we ever enjoy it.

On the way home, we stopped at a Dairy Queen and had ice cream dipped in chocolate for dessert. I got an extra little cup and filled it for Miss Tootsie (no chocolate for her, only vanilla). She just loves Dairy Queen ice cream. Well actually, we all do.

Now it's time for me to check the laundry. Have to get it folded and put away. I will leave you with a bit of sunshine from a photo that I took a couple of days ago. This is a gorgeous day lily from my yard. Enjoy, and y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Need More Topsy Turvies

July 21, 2009

Oh me oh my, what a day. Can't go out, it's pouring rain. That's okay though, the tomatoes need the rain. Aren't those topsy turvy planters something? We've picked two tomatoes so far this summer. At this rate, we should only need thirty or forty topsy turvies to harvest enough tomatoes to make a few bowls of salad. Aye yup, some bargain!

Started cleaning the bookshelves in my bedroom today. Now that's a tough job. I have a hard time separating from my books, but it is necessary. Out of the first 50 books, I put one in the "get rid of" bag. See what I mean? After three or four shelves, I have to start over, and actually try harder to fill the bag. Yeah! Success!! I outdid my self and filled three bags. Even so, I have to keep at it until only the "absolutely have to keeps" are left on the shelves. Time for a short break.

After lunch, I interviewed a prospective tenant, and will chat on my blog before going back to the bookshelves. I thought today I would share a cute photo that I took a few days ago of some little birds playing in the birdbath. It seems that even little birds can be "cliquey." When one little bird tried to join the others in the birdbath, another little bird tried chasing him away. It is really quite comical to watch them as they are so very much like children.

Out of the corner of my eye, I am watching Miss Tootsie trying to play with half a ball. You heard me, half a ball. I stopped taping the old ball together because Tootsie would have the tape off within 30 minutes or so. Now she gets to toss a half ball around, which of course isn't as much fun because a half ball doesn't bounce or roll very well. I suppose though, if it's your favorite ball, then half a ball is better than no ball.

That's it, I'm starting to talk crazy. Time to get back to work here. Y'all have a great evening.

Hugs, Edna B.

Glad You're Feeling Better, Su

July 20, 2009

Today is blue, tired Monday. Just the aftereffects of a working weekend. As soon as the mail man comes with today's mail (or should I say bills?) I will take my sorry patootie in for a nap. When I'm tired, it's hard to concentrate on designing. I did manage to get a couple of things done, as well as a get well card.

Our friend Su has been very ill, and finally needed surgery to correct a problem and relieve a lot of pain. Today brought the good news that her surgery went well, and she might be home soon. This is certainly very good news.

While waiting for the mailman (postman to some of you), I have managed to get a bit of laundry done. Mostly just scatter rugs, and Tootsie's blankets. If I ever had to move, I'd need three or four large suitcases to carry all of Miss Tootsie's things. This girl does not want for very much. Aside from a substantial wardrobe, she has many beautiful quilts and fluffy blankets for her beds, huge amounts of toys, a stroller, a car seat, and let's not forget all the scatter rugs. I think I'd like to come back as Tootsie. (With someone like me for a mommy.)

It's getting very close to the end of the month, so I think I may only be able to finish one or two more challenges and that will have to do till next month. I still have to finish my part for some of the daily download kits, and I would like to finish a few new kits for the store and for freebies.

I think I'll go play with Tootsie now for a bit, then hopefully it will be naptime. I will dream about those yummie stuffed green peppers that Moo is going to make for supper tonight. Mmmmmmm!!! Y'all have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Another Busy Day

July 19, 2009

A quiet, yet busy day today. I'm writing this post shortly before I leave for work. Miss Tootsie and I slept late this morning. There were some good programs to watch on TV during the night, so we took advantage of a night off and enjoyed several of them. Hence the late sleeping.

I was very busy on the computer this afternoon, but I can't really seem to see what I accomplished. Isn't that amazing? I know I was busy doing things, but what? That probably speaks volumes about how important my PC stuff is. I read some of my email, catch up on a few graphics that needed updating, and even spend a little bit of time chatting with Moo.

Yesterday, I managed to finish up a couple more challenges. Specifically the "Q" and the "R." The words I chose to use were "Questions" and "Read." Someone could fill volumes with all the questions I have asked in my lifetime. It's my way of learning when everything I want to know is not easily learned in a book. Of course, that brings up reading. I love to read. I always say you cannot have too many books. Books are your best friend sometimes.

Now I really must hop to it and get ready to leave. Have to make sure Miss Tootsie's overnight bag is packed. It contains her food, meds, and snacks for the night. Before I leave, I'll post the challenge layouts. Enjoy, and y'all have a wonderful night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Birthday Moo

July 18. 2009

Happy Birthday to you....Happy Birthday to you....Happy Birthday to Mooooooooo....Happy Birthday to you!!!!! Enjoy your lobster lunch. Tonight we'll have the cake and ice cream. Mmmmmm.

I would like to say thank to Snow Raven and Kyra for the beautiful birthday cards they made for my brother. After he saw his cards, he was all puffed up and very happy looking. You made his day extra special, and for this I thank you.

What a day to be running around. It is hot, hot, hot!!! Looks like Summertime has arrived with a steamy bang. I keep looking for that rain they say is coming, but it must be riding on a very lame pigeon because it's not here yet. Thursday's rain consisted of a few splots and two very small breezes. Shameful! Friday's rain never did show up.

On top of the very warm temperatures, the air conditioner in my car is starting to smell funny, which means it's time for an overhaul at the shop. After that, I will need to do something about the nasty little body rot spots on the bottom of two of the doors. Can't get my new sticker until that is fixed.

For some of us, today is not such a happy day. A best friend is gone, but honey, think of all the beautiful memories you will have forever.

I must get going now, and try to finish off another challenge. You know, I start them, but then I get side-tracked. Next thing you know, I have the beginnings of several different projects, and none of them finished. If I stick to it, maybe I can finish one or two of the challenges. Till tomorrow, y'all have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

New Kit - "Goodbye My Friend"

July 17, 2009

Whew!! Today is a hot one!! The little Mrs does not believe in wasting money on air-conditioning, so I broiled all day at work. I haven't heard the weather man yet, but it's been in the nineties (Fahrenheit) where I've been. When I spoke to Miss Audrey, she said it's mighty warm there too, and they are expecting some nasty thunder storms with possible tornadoes. I think I'm getting too old for this sticky hot weather. Of course, I don't like the extreme cold either. Mayhaps I'm just a bit crabby today.

My little girl was very glad to see me this afternoon. Dancing and prancing with lots of kisses, she always makes it a pleasure to come home. I think tonight I'll share some black raspberry ice cream with her. Mmmmmmmm!

Today, I was taking some photos of the little birds playing in the birdbath, when my camera just shut off. Oh oh, battery must be dead. So I whipped out my spare battery and made the change. Guess what? That one was dead too. I still had two more spares in my bag which I tried in the camera, but alas, they too were dead.

So I put the camera down and plugged in the battery charger and began the task of charging all my batteries. Funny, only two of them needed charging. I put the newly charged battery in the camera and still no go. Duh!!! The memory card was full, and therefore the camera won't work. Duh! Duh! Duh! Some days my brains just don't function very well. Must be the heat. Good thing I carry a spare memory card.

Enough chatter. Today I will post the rest of "Goodbye My Friend." I've tried to keep the size of the downloads reasonable, so that means there are a lot of download links - ten in all for the papers and elements. So enjoy, and y'all have a great evening.

Hugs, Edna B.

Freebies For You

July 16, 2009

Well folks, two more days for another big day for Uncle Moo. Yup yup, he's having a birthday. He's not big on cake, so I guess it's cupcakes coming up. We also don't have any more candles, so I'll have to pick some up. You know he's going to whap me one when he reads this, but so what. I'm older than him so he has to be nice to me. Hehehe.

Tonight is a work night - a long one all the way till 3 pm tomorrow. So, I spent today finishing up the new kit, "Goodbye My Friend." I will give you the QP's today, and the rest of the kit will be posted hopefully tomorrow night. I know this is a difficult topic for a lot of folks, but just maybe the kit will help to preserve some wonderful memories for you.

Meanwhile, here on the home front, Miss Tootsie has been protesting dog food, and has been refusing to eat most of the meals that I give her. Unfortunately for her, this just means that she will get more Beneful dry food and less deli meat.

Now I think I had better get going on my laundry. Ever notice, we sometimes wear the same outfits over and over till they fall apart? I have favorite outfits that are in and out of the laundry constantly, and never seem to land in the drawer until they go out of season. And today just happens to be the day they go back in for another wash and dry. Till tomorrow, y'all have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

July 15, 2009

So far, another sunny day, but the rain will be back probably by tomorrow. I saw on TV last night that parts of our beautiful country are in the midst of a really bad drought. It's a shame someone cannot invent a way to channel a lot of the excess rain water in some parts of the country to other parts of the country. I watched a program that showed how they do this in (I think) Los Angeles, re-directing mountain water to the city. It was very interesting, and we should be able to do this in other parts of the country.

Daughter in law is here for a visit and supper. We've been playing with her new camera trying to figure out how to set it up and use it. I'm not sure who the little "Get Started" pamphlets are written for, but they certainly don't help humans to understand and use the camera. Gosh, I never even thought to see if maybe Tootsie could understand it. lo.

I'm working on a special kit, which I will give you as a freebie in a few days. Miss Audrey is having to put her beloved Dozer to sleep this weekend. He is very sick, and starting to suffer. They have had Dozer and his sister, Charlee, since they were tiny balls of fluff. At some point, we all find ourselves in this difficult situation. The new kit will be for scrapping those precious photos of our beloved pet friend.

For today, you will have to visit Kyra's blog http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com/ and pick up her beautiful QP that she made from some of my contributions to the "Turtles" kit that was our daily download kit at Magickal Scraps for this past April. I have posted a preview for you. So enjoy, and y'all have a great night.

Birthdays And Chocolate

July 14, 2009

Today is a big day for one of the dwarfs. It's his birthday, and Uncle Moo baked him a cake, complete with candles. Well, actually, it was a cupcake with one musical candle that did not play music. Happy Birthday Erik.

For some reason, I am very tired today. I got over-tired yesterday and could not sleep at all last night. Today, I just cannot get going. So my post will be short.

I thought I would tell you about the fantastic chocolate that we all got in the mail not too long ago from our friend, Snow Raven. We were all excited when the box arrived, because we knew there was all this wonderful chocolate in it. I got the box open, and lifted out the three rather lifeless bags that conformed to the shape of my hand as soon as I picked them up. Were they just a little bit melted? Yup Yup.

What now? Well I put the bags of chocolate in the refrigerator to harden up a bit before we could actually eat any of it. The next day, I shared them with Moo and Erik. That night Tootsie and I turned in early to have our snacks and watch TV. And, of course, I grabbed my little bag of chocolate.

First let me tell you that the chocolate was indescribably delicious. Even though I had to peel the bag away from it and look for thin sections of it to bite off. It was still a bit soft in a few places, but I was determined to enjoy it. After a few small bites, I needed to put the bag of chocolate away, and wash my face, my hands, my arms, my nightie, my chest - all the way down inside my nightie, and change my pillow case. Yup! That was mighty fine chocolate!! Just a bit messy to eat. Thank you my friend for the delicious treat.
Now, I am going to sign off and go back to bed. Tomorrow is going to be a better day. Y'all have a wonderful evening.

Hugs, Edna B.

Here's a beautiful wet rose to share with you. Enjoy.

Monday Wearies

July 13, 2009

Ahhhh, Monday, Monday. For me, Monday is a difficult day. I am usually tired after a long weekend (working) and just want to nap all day. This, of course, is not usually possible. Life keeps happening. The phone rings as soon as you nod off to dreamland, the mailman has to knock because he has a package you have to sign for, a dwarf is unhappy and needs to be soothed, Tootsie gets hungry around noon time, and your favorite program shows it's re-runs as soon as your head hits the pillow. Fat chance for much sleep. Still, you try.

All of this happened this morning, but eventually I did manage to get a couple of short winks. However, the phone rang and a sweet voice reminded me of a missed appointment - "Where the hell are you?" Oh dear, here we go again. Mind you, I am not complaining. Actually I count my lucky blessings that I am here to enjoy my busy day.

Last night was not my best night for designing. I just could not concentrate very long on one thing - kept skipping around from kit to kit. But I did get a few things done, so I guess that was a good night. Tomorrow, I will start getting caught up with the challenges for this month.

I also want to go shopping this week to look at futons. Apparently, they are very comfortable, and just might be what I am needing for my living room and bedroom. So we will see. It's the walking around the stores that gets to me. My hip and leg starts to give out, and my shopping spree gets cut short. Just means that things take me a little big longer to do.

Tootsie and I also stopped by the bank today, and she got to visit with everyone there. Of course, she was in her stroller, so she gets to go in a lot of places that otherwise would not be welcoming pets.

It's time now to go see about what's for supper. Maybe roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies tonight. Mmmmm. I will leave you with a photo taken this past Spring on a misty morning. Enjoy, and y'all have a great night.

Give Me More Paper

July 12, 2009

Well, good morning and I hope your weather is as lovely as ours. During the night, we had some rather noisy thunder and lightning, and rain so heavy you could hardly see through it. But this morning the sun came shining through and brought lovely warmth with it.

Now if I can just stay awake till the stores open, I plan on going shopping at Wal-Mart. They have some lovely things on sale, including notebooks for 15 cents. Now this I simply cannot pass up. I have this thing for paper. I'm not sure why, but I have always been crazy for paper. It doesn't matter if it is large or small, fat or thin, plain or decorated, padded or loose, I like it, I like it, I like it!!!!!

My friend Snow Raven is like this with chocolate. I have another friend who cannot walk past a purse - even if it is ugly, she has to have it. My husband used to have a thing for curtain rods and broomstick handles. We ended up with an attic full of them. I guess this is just one of those wonderful things that makes the world go round. We are all so different, yet so much alike.

I will leave you now so that I can play a bit with Tootsie. She starts my day off with lots of love and a smile. When I walk through my door, she dances around and talks to me and gives me kisses. Can you ask for anything more than that?

This morning's photo is a fun one. Can you maybe guess what it is? Y'all have a fantastic day now.

Hugs, Edna B.

Windows, Windows, Where Are You?

July 11, 2009

We've been on a fantastic weather streak here, and today is no exception. Lots of sunshine and warmth. Here's hoping it extends to all of you. I'm hoping to get to the park soon, and get some more photographs of our beautiful water fowl.

I've been in a tizzy about which zoom lens to buy. I certainly do need one, but I can't decide which one is right for me. Hopefully, I will make up my mind pretty soon, because I'm sure I'm missing out on some great bird photos.

You know, I ordered two more windows for my apartment quite a while ago, and so far I have not heard one word from the contractor. Is anyone else having trouble getting building supplies? The last time we had windows put in, he told me that it is taking forever to get the windows from the factory. Too many people laid off, and not enough employees to handle the work load. This is sad.

I think I shall try calling him, and tell him that if he cannot get the windows soon, we will get them from a different manufacturer at a building supply store. I want to enjoy the windows before I get too old to care.

Tonight after my little lady goes to bed, I shall work on the new color challenge and a birthday special for Magickal Scraps. The color challenge is either paisley or doodles. I'm not much of a doodler, but the paisley sounds very interesting, and the colors we have to use run a beautiful range from hot to cool. As for the birthday special, well, I can't say much except that it is going to be a lot of fun, and quite fantastic.

My little girl has been very patient with me lately even though I've been neglecting her playtime. So, I will leave you now and spend a bit of time playing ball with Tootsie. I will post a photo of the view outside the kitchen window at work. Enjoy, and y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Mail For Tootsie

July 9, 2009

Good morning, at least I hope it is. Tootsie and I tossed and turned all night. Very little sleep came our way. Let's hope tonight is a better one for sleeping. Usually Thursday night is my bad night for sleeping. The body knows it has to get up early for work, and so it decides not to cooperate. Ahhh, the good life.

Did I mention that Tootsie has a subscription to a magazine, and that a couple of nights ago, we spent the evening reading the newest issue together? What? Doesn't your dog or cat get mail? Magazines? This one is filled with lots of great articles, and even has coupons for her favorite foods in it. One magazine is called "Healthy Pet" and the other is "Dog's Life." You should see what is out there for your pet. They really do love to get mail.

Today, I get to do a bit of shopping. Not my cup of tea, but necessary. Food, meds, household supplies, that sort of thing. The nice thing is that I will get to go out to lunch with daughter Dee. It has been a while since we have been able to get together for some fun time, and I am looking forward to it.

This afternoon, it's back to the grindstone. If I can finish up with the October DD's, then I will only have three more months to do. A piece of cake!! Don't I wish!! Ahhh, but it is fun most of the time. The only time it is not fun is when my brain takes a vacation without letting me know. Lately, the brain seems to rebel quite often. I wonder why this is. Must be that wonderful Golden thingy.

Y'all want to do something nice today? Something that will make you feel good about yourself and make your toes tingle? Send an encouraging, happy email to a very nice lady who is in need of a bit of cheering up. We all have our "down" days, but now Su is in the dumps, and could use some happy mail to make her day a bit brighter. So stop by her blog, and leave her a message. Su is at http://suruha-freespirit.blogspot.com/.

Before I leave to get busy on my PC, let me share a lovely QP that Kyra has made with my mini kit "A Walk In The Park." If you didn't get this kit yet, scroll back down to June 30. To get this lovely freebie, just visit Kyra's blog. http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com/. Y'all have a great day.

I'm A Slow Paper Maker

July 8, 2009

Just a little post because it's late. I've been busy trying to get caught up with my contributions to some of the upcoming Daily Download kits. Can you believe, I spent 30 minutes making just one paper background? Am I slow? Or do others labor this hard over a piece of paper? Thank goodness all the papers don't take this long to make or it would take me forever to finish enough for five months.

This evening, I managed to finish all the pieces for August, now I can get busy with September. That is, after I wrap August up with folders and labels, etc, and upload - don't forget the previews. I will make it, though, I always do.

That's for tonight, see? I said I would keep it short. My program is coming on TV, and Tootsie and I want to grab a snack and hop in bed and watch it. I will leave you with a photo I took a few days ago of the clematis blooming at work. Enjoy. Y'all have a wonderful night.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Treat From Kyra

July 7, 2009

Monday came and Monday went. I'm usually pretty tired on Monday and I move rather slow. Therefore, I missed posting to my blog altogether. I did make some new papers for upcoming Daily Download kits, and some new overlays for more papers. But that's about it for yesterday.

Hopefully, I will be putting some new kits into the store this week. They have been ready, but I have been side-tracked here, there and everywhere. Ever have weeks like that? Where you manage to accomplish a lot of things that you really didn't need to get done, and other important things slide by unnoticed? Story of my life.

Today, I am going to see if I can stay on track long enough to scratch a few "important" things off my "things to do" list. Knowing me, this will be very tricky to pull off, but I shall make a concerted effort. Maybe if I get at least 4 things done, I can treat myself to some chocolate. A box just arrived from Snowy, and there is some lovely (sort of melted) chocolate inside. I have put it in the fridge to harden up a bit.

This reminds me of a Christmas back in the 70's. We had a wonderful exchange student living with us, and his family sent him a big box filled with goodies for Christmas. The box came a few weeks early, so we just tucked it under the tree. A few days before Christmas, the room was beginning to smell quite bad and we could not find the source of this terrible odor. Eventually, we did track it down to the large holiday box that was beneath the tree, in the back close to the wall heater vent. Yup, you guessed it!!! Packages of cheese inside the box.

Well that's it for today. I really must get busy here if I want that treat later on. Let me show you the beautiful QP that Kyra made with my "Whimsy" mini kit, which I made for a challenge last month. The QP is waiting for you on her blog. http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com/. Enjoy, and y'all have a great day.

Early Morning Visitor

July 5, 2009

Wow, it's another beautiful morning, warm and sunny with a nice breeze. Mmmmmmm. Feels almost like June should feel. I will miss some of it though, because Miss Tootsie and I are going to take a nap. Last night was a work night, and tonight is too.

This week, I need to get a grip on reality, and buckle down on the housework. I have a tendency to let it slide, after all, who will see it? Tootsie doesn't care if I ever do it, and it doesn't impress me much. I think every woman should have a housekeeper. Boy, don't I dream big?

I'm not going to chat much this morning. The laundry is almost finished, just needs to be folded and put away, then it is nap time for bonzo baby here. The bird feeder has been refilled, and lots of seed tossed on the ground for Chippy. We even pulled up a little radish for him. Now we'll see if he eats it.

Before I left work this morning, I managed to get a couple of photos of an early morning visitor to the birdfeeder there. He's a cutie. While you're blog surfing, check out the 30% off Holiday sale at Magickal Scraps. http://http://www.magickalscraps.com. There are so many beautiful kits to choose from at a terrific price. Y'all have a gorgeous day now.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

July 4, 2009

Happy Fourth of July everyone. I woke up, very late I must say, to a most glorious day outside here. The sun is shining brightly and it is toasty warm. HEAR THAT, TOMATOES!!! Get with the game plan, and straigten out and grow some tomatoes!!!

The second topsy turvy plant has finally sprouted some teeny weeny little tomatoes, but neither plant is growing in length. Where did we go wrong? The ones on TV and in the ads were two or three feet long with so many huge tomatoes you could feed the neighborhood. Right now ours probably couldn't sustain a small army of three mice. And Uncle Moo feeds them once a month too! I wonder what happened to the green thumb I used to have.

Crooknees, as for my dust bunnies, we have a marvelous agreement. We respect each other's space. You don't bother me and I won't bother you. Unless of course, company is coming. Then I might have to kill off some of the bigger ones.

Now for the award from yesterday. I have met quite a lot of wonderful people since I started my blog, and I have to say that most of them are a fantastic group of people. I would have put Snow Raven and Kyra right up at the top of my list, but they already have this award. This award is for all the Help, Gratitude, Respect, Solidarity, Affection, Love, Friendship and Imagination. And I have received so much from some very special people. I would also add

Davonna @ http://chroniclesofnani.blogspot.com/, Deb @ http://thescrappincop.blogspot.com/, Lady Shannon @ http://ladyshannonmemoriesmadeeasy.blogspot.com/.

I have some things to do now before getting ready for work, but I do have a nice Fourth of July QP for you. I hope you like it. Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Fireworks Tonight

July 3, 2009

Another rainy day, BUT - we did get a few hours of sunshine in between the morning rain and the afternoon/evening rain. Actually, we are supposed to be getting thunder storms, but they haven't come yet. Maybe if everyone is lucky, the rain will let up, and the storms will hold off until after midnight. Tonight there are fireworks planned in all the towns.

Me, I will stay at home and watch them on TV. Much drier, warmer, and not so crowded. Besides, I couldn't leave Tootsie home alone, especially with all kinds of fireworks going off. So all of you who are planning on going to sit and watch the fireworks, ENJOY!!!!

I got another beautiful award from my good friend, Kyra. http://smiekeltje.blogspot.comThis one is dedicated to a world without borders in the world of Scrap, and for people who always give you Help, Gratitude, Respect, Solidarity, Affection, Love, Friendship and Imagination. I have some homework to do here, so I will post my nominees tomorrow.

For now, I will go find the movie Moo got for me to watch - "The Bucket List," and Miss Tootsie and I will get comfy, grab a snack, and enjoy the film. Y'all have a wonderful night.

Hugs, Edna B.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEEDEE

July 2, 2009

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEEDEE !!! I know it's raining, but I hope it still is a good one filled with lots of love.

Last night was our forum chat, and I missed it completely. Daughter in law and I were enjoying a very productive visit, and when she left the chat was over. I will have to plan better next month.

Here, it is (what else is new?) raining. Not only that, I slept late today. I think all this rain is playing havoc with my moods and energy levels. It's nice to have plenty of rain, but much better to have it spaced out a bit more evenly over the summer.

Yesterday, I received a lovely new "This Blog Makes Me Smile" award from Kyra, which really brightened up my day. Thank you so much, my friend. If you like to start your day off with a smile, just check out her blog. http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com/.

I will be passing this award on to the following ladies because I truly enjoy their blogs. Each has a different style of writing, but each leaves me smiling.

Davonna @http://chroniclesofnani.blogspot.com
Snow Raven @http://silversnowyraven.blogspot.com
Su @suruha-freespirit.blogspot.com
Deb @http://thescrappincop.blogspot.com
Rachelle @http://doodelle.blogspot.com

When I went to the Magickal Scraps forum this morning, I got a really big surprise. My friend Kyra has posted an awesome layout that she made describing how she sees me. This certainly brought a huge smile to my face, but leaves me wondering about the blue belt. Is this a good belt? LOL. Even Moo looks adorable.
I'm off now to spend some playtime with my little girl here, Miss Tootsie, who has been very patient with me lately. Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Busy, Busy Day Today

July 1, 2009

Tonight's post will be short. It's been a busy day, and tonight Tootsie and I want to watch "Fashion Show." Because we missed last week's show, I am hoping that they show it as a repeat the hour before the regular show. They do that sometimes, so here's hoping.

Tomorrow is my Dee Dee's big day. Hope it's a good one Tweets, with lots of sunshine. Today, my daughter in law came over and we did quite a lot of scanning. So now I have lots of new stuff for designing.

After that, we hit the bedroom. We make a good team, because she is tall enough to see and reach the tops of bookshelves and things. I can't either see or reach them, so they get to grow nice big dust bunnies. Not any more. She wiped up those dust bunnies, and they will forever live in the big green trash bag now. I even managed to throw a few things out. Yeah!!!

I also got to post my Inspiration challenge for July, and bonus for participating. I made a set of QP's using some lovely frame brushes from Lileya, and will post a preview here. If you want them, come on over to Magickal Scraps and take part in the challenge.

I'm off now. There's still a lot to put away so that I can find my bed. Y'all have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B
