Good morning. Today started off a bit cloudy, but now the sun is peeking through the clouds. Temps will be in the seventies today. Just a simply gorgeous day! Here. Not so in other areas.
Yesterday, there was a series of gas explosions in Lawrence, Andover and North Andover. At least ten people were injured, and one was killed. Fires ignited in at least thirty nine homes, forcing many neighborhoods to evacuate. Electric power and gas has been shut off to prevent further damage.
There are tropical storms in the Gulf of Mexico threatening to dump lots of rain from Florida to Texas. Many of these areas are already water logged and really can't handle much more rainfall. Hurricane Florence made landfall and is creating havoc everywhere in her path.
Last week, one of the daily specials on the Home Shopping Network was an EcoFlow Tech 500W River mobile Power Station. It is a small, yet powerful, generator that can keep your devices, small appliances, TV's, lamps, etc. powered. The battery life is one hundred hours. (depending on how many and what kind of items are being powered.)
When the presenters mentioned that this would be an ideal investment for folks using a C-Pap machine, it dawned on me that it would be great for those of us who depend on oxygen too. I have a regular oxygen concentrator and a smaller portable concentrator, and they both need electric power. This Power Station was expensive, but I felt that it would be one of my best investments. Being the daily special, I saved two hundred dollars off the retail price.
In the photo above, I've circled the two power stations to show the size. Also on display are some of the items that are plugged into the host's power station. There's also a padded carry case for the power station. (I've put a yellow arrow pointing to it.) If anyone is interested in more information about this item, you can look it up on HSN.com. Today I'm waiting for the Sears repair serviceman to come to check the freezer compartment on my new fridge. There is a leak in the rubber sealer strip around the inside of the freezer door and it is making little icicles form along the top of the inside of the freezer and along the inside of the door. I'm hoping he will fix the problem while he is here.
I just talked with my daughter Audrey (she lives in Suffolk, VA). They are getting wind and rain there, and there is a tornado headed her way. I'm praying everyone stays safe. They're not able to have basements and storm shelters in her area.
You know the old saying "when it rains, it pours!" Well, it's pouring now. All over the place. On that note, I'm going to sign off now and do a bit of blog reading while I wait for the repairman. So, till Sunday, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous weekend.

Thanks for the tip on the machine! We have considered buying a generator but have not done so yet! It is raining everywhere, not here yet but it is coming! Have a blessed day dear friend, HUGS!

we get some news too about hurricane Florence and it doesn;t look good. There isn;t too much we can do about it, is it?
I think that power station you will have is a good idea. Okay, it isn't for a very long time, but still 100 hours isn;t bad.
Hopefully Audrey and family will not have too much trouble from the bad weather.

I am so happy that you bought that little power station generator. It is awesome and a 100 hours is really good. You never know when or if you will need it and I know that it will bring you peace of mind. You can always save power by not plugging in everything at once. Just keep what you can charged and unplugged when not in use. That way you will have some juice when you need it.
