A Weekend To Celebrate Our Veterans

November 10, 2017

Good afternoon.  This morning Deanne and I were at the shooting range.  I must say that today I did much better than the last time we were there.  We have a tendency to close one eye when we are aiming at a target, but today I tried looking at the target straight on with both eyes.  It works much better.  The zombie on my target will never stalk anyone again!

This will be a short post because I'm a bit tired today.  I need to curl up in my lounge chair and rest a bit.  I think I've been fighting off a cold these past few weeks.  I've been treating it like an allergy, but now I'm thinking I have a little cold.

This weekend we honor our veterans.  The holiday began as Armistice Day to mark the end of hostilities of World War I that occurred at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month.   In 1954, it was changed to Veterans Day to honor all US Veterans and victims of all wars.

I got a nice surprise in the mail yesterday.  Thee was a birthday card from my friend Kyra.  Inside the card was a package of reindeer ornaments.  I'm thinking that I may color a few of them before I hang them on my tree.  Thank you Kyra.  That doggie is adorable!

Yesterday morning when I looked outside, I noticed the ground covered with tons of leaves from the Imperial Tree.  Joe had just raked up all the leaves in the parking area the afternoon before.  Overnight, one whole tree gave up all its leaves.  How does this happen?  Not only that, the large tree out front dropped enough new leaves to cover the whole driveway entrance again.

Joe raked up the new leaves and filled a leaf bag with all the leaves from the tree out front and another leaf bag with the leaves from the Imperial Tree.

I've been watching the ads for the Roomba and other similar machines.  My doctor told me a few years ago that I needed to get one of these, but I've been putting it off.  The time is getting close though, when I'll have to give it some serious thought and actually get one.  I still have more home work to do though before I buy one.

Well, that's it for my news today.  It's almost time for Pogo's turkey treat.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a super weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Take care and hope you will feel better soon I know all about leaves. I wait until they all fall and then mow them.

Hello Edna,

When Mother Nature decides to come, she doesn't mess around. Too bad that Joe had double the work raking leaves but you are sure to have more! But they are gorgeous laying around and about under the trees, even tho they have to be cleaned up.

How does Pogo do with the vacuum cleaner running? Cisco runs, hides, barks, chases it and let's me know he doesn't like it lol. I suppose you might have to take Pogo to McDonalds and or on an outing while the Roomba does it's job ha ha...
My daughter's landlord let her borrow his when she first moved to California and she said it really freed up her time but my grandson would chase it and try and sit on it. I asked her if she liked it and she said Oh Yes" so you might be on the right track to shop around.

How fun you and Dee Dee had at the range. I am so glad that we have one more Zombie down!!! It is a relief knowing that the two of you are helping to rid the world of these creatures... :) (Smile).

Oh the card and the reindeer ornaments are just lovely from Kyra. I am getting aggravated that you have not received mine yet. This is just totally ridiculous. But you can celebrate your Birthday again when and if it ever gets there.

I am off to go and post on my blog so I will talk to you later on my friend. You and Pogo have an awesome day! Love from Cisco and Beth

So glad my card finally arrived. I did send it away quite on time you know. Don;t understand why it took so long.
It is a pity the temps are going down rather quick now and all the leaves fall. It means winter is coming near and i don;t like the idea.
Take care with that cold that it only stays a cold and chase it away as soon as you can!
Hug
Kyra
