It's Time To Make A Bucket List

January 1, 2014

Good morning and welcome to 2014!   Here's hoping that today is the beginning of a great new year for all of us.  Did you make any resolutions?  Or set new goals?  I didn't make any resolutions (because I usually don't keep them), but I did set a few goals for myself.

Tamron has recently released a brand new 150-600 mm lens, and I think this adorable little person wants it.  First I have to get past the price of this new lens.  For a pro, this would be considered inexpensive, but to an amateur it is a bit pricey.  Then I have to find a store that carries it, and go there to try it out.

However, I'm pretty sure that I will love it. (Of course, I definitely NEED it!)  And, seeing as how I am considering retiring from work this year, I might want to buy the lens before I stop working.   I will have to make me a bucket list for my retirement years, and put this lens near the top of the list.

There are some places I would like to go, and people I would like to meet in person.  The people would be at the top of my list, then maybe the lens, and then the places.  Ah well, this is a project that I will be working on for a while.

It's time now for a page from this year's calendar.  For January, I chose a photo of a gorgeous pink rose from one of my rose trees.  There's something beautiful about a rose blossoming when it is covered with snow.

Next, I just have to share this lovely little button that I snatched off my daughter's Facebook page.  It's just so perfect for me.  Isn't this just adorable?

Last night I spent some time online getting as much information as I could about the Inogen G3 oxygen concentrator.  I used to have a large concentrator at home, with a couple of the portable canisters, but I never used the canisters because they were so heavy and you can't take them on a plane when you travel.

This new concentrator is much smaller and is portable.  It's small enough to carry like a purse with a shoulder strap.   And, there are no canisters to bother with.  Now I just have to check to see if (or how much of) this is covered by Medicare.  Somehow I doubt they will cover it.  For us seniors, I think the government thinks that the big bulky machine is good enough.  Well, this will be one of my first projects for this year.

Now, for my friends with kitties, I have a few cute images (from the web and my emails) to share with you.

It's coming on time for me to check on the Mrs again.  After that, I can start packing up my things so that I'll be ready to go home at seven.  Going home is the best part of my working, because when I walk into the house my little Pogo showers me with lots of doggie hugs.  He's not very kissy, but he sure does love the hugging!  And, I have to admit, I do too!

We have a snow storm coming starting tomorrow, so I'm glad that I don't have to come back to work until next Sunday night.  By then, we'll be shoveled out.  (Or I should say, snow blowered out!)   So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy New Year to you and Pogo. I've not made any resolutions this year, will just take it as it goes again this year. That way I'm never disappointed with myself. I loved the funny cat photos, can never have too many of those. The Tamron lens sounds interesting but I'm not sure I want to stick more money into my camera right now...but it will be fun to check into.

Hi my friend ... do you believe it ... we made it to another year. I think 2014 may be the best year yet, who knows. But I do know that would be my wish for you. I hope you meet all of your goals (and that I am on your list of poeple to meet) and I hope you get your new lens ... that would be awesome. You would be able to get some wonderful close ups of birds and things that are out of your reach at this point.

I guess I didn't realize you were using oxygen. My husband has the big concentrator that he uses mostly at night and the tanks that he uses when he needs to catch his breath or when he is doing his bike exercise. Portable isn't an issue with him because he has no interest in going anywhere. He can get around pretty well without any oxygen as a rule. Knock on wood, I have never needed it though I have asthma and cough all of the time. I rarely get short of breath ... sometimes when climbing a hill or stairs, but that is minimal. I hope you will be able to get the portable version ... you will probably have to get a doctor to write that you need it, then it will be covered by Medicare (I think ... not absolutely sure :(

Love your kitty cartoons ... I get a kick out of putting words in the mouths of pets ... like Izzi. With Izzi, I don't think I am too far off from what she is thinking. She is pretty smart and I can see the look in her eye and that tells me whats on her mind ... and her actions usually bear me out :)

Well it is afternoon on the first dayt of the year and I have done absolutely nothing :) Isn't that nice. I think I will make that one of my goals ... spend time doing absolutely nothing. So relaxing ...

I hear my son outside with ther Snow Blower. The snow is that light stuff that you can clear with a broom except it is too deep. I better go see if he needs any help. You have a wonderful beginning of your New Year ... I'm looking forward to our daily meetings, as usual. Love to Pogo ...

Happy New Year Edna and Pogo! A bucket list sounds like a good idea but to me it would be like New Year's resolutions.....nothing gets accomplished.

We have finally got some rain and it is cooling things off nicely. The gardens are loving it too. In a few days the temps will climb again so I am going to enjoy this respite while I can.

I do love the January photo!! Flowers saying “NO” to the snow are so beautiful. (That’s why I love crocuses so much) I completely understand needing the lens! I’m manipulating funds because I need a tablet, preferably sooner than later!

Insurance will never pay for anything that is actually beneficial for your quality of life. According to our insurance my power chair isn’t permitted to leave the house except to get the mail and water plants, but NEVER go on a bus or out to lunch. (Eye roll)

The middle kitty graphic is SO Marco!

We’ve got the snow coming down in swarms of “white bugs” right now! I rescheduled an appointment yesterday that was scheduled for tomorrow morning and scheduled our snow removal guy to clear out the drive before David leaves for work I hope we don’t get so much more I need to call him again. It might snow for a few more hours after David leaves. Thank goodness we have a great plow guy and it needs to snow for him to still have winter income. (I’m quietly kinda glad since there hasn’t been enough snow to contract him the last 2 years.)

Hope the first day of 2014 was good to you and Pogo! Enjoy a few warm and dry days at home!

Hugs, Nani
