Lovely Weather For The Last Day Of June

June 30, 2010
*
Good morning everybody. It's early so it's really quite comfortable outdoors. The weatherman is forecasting a few days of really nice temperatures in the 70's before returning to the 90's. I for one would love a few pleasant days.

This morning, we have Miss Tootsie's third chemo treatment, and later this afternoon we will go back and finish this month's round of chemo. So far she is doing good with the change in her meds. Except, of course, for her picky appetite. Some days she eats her food, and other days she just takes a lick and walks away from it.

Where to start? My doctor appointment was a follow up to make sure my foot has healed okay, and to find out why my shoulder has been hurting since that fall back in February. (when I broke my foot) It seems that I have arthritis and bursitis in my shoulder and the fall most likely agitated it and made it all inflamed.

This has limited my use of this arm quite a bit. Some times I have to pick it up with my other hand in order to get it going. Other times, it works okay but with a lot of discomfort. So of course, my doctor had a plan to help lessen the pain. Yup, yup!!! A cortisone shot into the shoulder. Oh goodie goodie. Just what I wanted.

I am a real big baby when it comes to shots and needles in general. I HATE them. This has a plus side though. There is no fear of me ever becoming a junkie. I don't like pills either, but I will take the ones I have to. (provided they are not very big. lol) So, we will see what happens now.

As for Moo, well he has more tests coming up. Not exactly pleasant, but necessary. This big C stuff does not play fair, but my brother, God bless him, keeps on fighting back and hanging in there. He even flirts with the nurses when he goes for his appointments. Yup, that's my brother!

Today's photos starts with one of Janet's photos. This is one of her gorgeous hollyhocks. I remember sitting for hours on end when I was a little girl, and making dolly clothes with hollyhock blossoms. They made beautiful gowns!
*

This next photo was taken at work through the kitchen window. The lovely cardinal had spotted me, I think, but I was able to get this photo of him before he flew off.
*
Before I leave you to start my day, have a look at the new slideshow at the top of this post. I have put up the new July kit, "Fireworks." It's an awesome kit so do drop by the forum at Magickal Scraps every day to pick up all the parts.
*
Also, don't forget! Tomorrow the new "Freedom of Expression" blog train starts, and I will post all of the links here for you. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a magnificent day.

My Handsome Guys

June 29, 2010
*
It's a beautiful morning so far. Not too hot yet, but the heat will smack us in another hour or so. Tootsie and I just got back from her morning chemo appointment. We have a busy day today, filled with doctor appointments. Two for Tootsie, one for Moo and one for me. Phew!

Can you believe? In all that nasty wicked heat yesterday, my guys were hard at work in my yard! These guys are really fantastic! I was looking at some sale papers, and I may change my mind about the living fence. I just might have the guys put up a wooden fence instead, and plant some pretty things on my side of it.

I took photos of the guys in the yard this past Saturday and made a layout. Before I could post it here, I had to wait to ask permission. I always try to get permission before posting any identifiable photos here. Here's my layout. Those two handsome guys on either side of my son in law are my grandsons. Do I sound proud? Yeah, you bet!!
*

Tucked beneath a large evergreen shrub at work, is a beautiful coral rose bush. Somehow it manages to stick one of it's branches out from under to show off a gorgeous bloom.
*
Not far from the rose is a tall yellow beauty getting ready to open. I took this photo because it was so interesting. Note how everything, including the petals, is covered with tiny hairs. Mother Nature does try to protect all of her babies.
*
Now it's time for me to hop into the shower, and wash my hair. After all our appointments are done for the day, I need to do a bit of work on my July DD previews and get them all uploaded. Somehow we got all the day numbers mixed up and I have to change mine. You remember that old saying "No rest for the weary?" Hmm? Oh well, that's what makes our days interesting.
*
DIL Janet will be here in a while to babysit Miss Tootsie so that I can go to my appointment. It would be nice if we could leave Tootsie alone for a while to get things done but it is not to be. She has panic attacks when she is left alone, and her seizures could start up again. I never did find out why this is, but it's okay. We just don't leave her alone.
*
I'm off now to get busy here. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a truly fantastic day.

Oooooh, Feel That Delicious Breeze!!

June 28, 2010
*
Goodness me, it's 5:30 in the morning, and I'm starting to get tired. Only 9 1/2 more hours to go and I can go home to my little bed. I must say though, that at the moment, the temperature is quite comfortable. It's about 75 degrees with a little breeze. Oooooh, that feels so good!!!!

There is central air conditioning here, but the Mrs. doesn't waste any of it on me. I don't think she likes the color of my eyes. Maybe if I bought some pretty green contact lenses? Oh well, not to worry. I brought my own little fan with me to move the air around a bit.
*
Last night I was able to do a bit of designing for a change. I also got to do some packing and zipping up so that I will have freebies ready for you. I know I promised one yesterday, but I will definitely post it today. Yesterday, I had a nasty headache and managed to forget a few things. I'm going to have to stop this falling down stuff. It's not doing good things for my health!!

Want to see a sneak peek at what's coming in just a few days at Magickal Scraps? Have a lookee at one of my parts. The new kit is called "Fireworks." We had a grand time working on this kit.
*

For today's photos, I have a few of DIL Janet's shots from her garden. Her lilies are just gorgeous! This is just a couple of the different ones that she has.
*

Right now, I'm enjoying a glass of iced coffee, black with sugar. I bought an extra one at Dunkin Donuts on my way to work last night just so I could have it this morning. Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm! I think I'll have some of Moo's chili for breakfast this morning too. I brought it for my supper last night, but didn't eat it. What? You never heard of eating chili for breakfast? Sometimes it's good to step outside the box.
*
Now I think I'll get going here, and post your freebie. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Pink And Pretty

June 27, 2010
*
Good morning, and a gorgeous morning it is!! At least so far! It's early, and I've just got home from work. The temperature is already about 81 degrees. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 90's. None of this figures in the heat index.

Gosh, do you realize that next weekend we'll be celebrating Independence Day here in the U.S.A.? There will be lots of parades and fireworks, and the county fairs should be starting. This year I think I will try to photograph the fireworks. It all depends on whether or not I'm working the nights the fireworks displays are scheduled.

I have some nice flower photos to share today. This first photo was taken by DIL Janet in her garden. She's getting quite good with her camera. It's a very pretty Mallow, which is such a delicate flower. Note the star openings in the center of the flower.
*

These next photos are mine. This rather unusual looking flower is one that I don't have a name for, and neither did Janet. So if any of you know it's name, please leave a comment and let me know.
*

And what would a pretty garden without these beauties. I believe this pink pretty is a Lupine.

I think I've found some photography workshops for this Fall that are not too far away, and are very affordable. They offer everything from beginners to advanced, and a whole day of photo manipulation. So now I'm looking forward to some fun in the Fall.
*
Now it's time to wrap up my parts of the July DD kit for Magickal Scraps, and get them uploaded. This is another fabulous kit that you won't want to miss. It's also time to make myself a cup of coffee and play with Tootsie for a while. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

Oops, New Boo Boo's

June 26, 2010
*
Today's weather is quite nice. I went outside to photograph some tiger lilies that have just bloomed. They really are pretty. I'll have those photos for you tomorrow. Tootsie and I are getting a late start today. It's already noon and I haven't accomplished very much here. But that's okay.

Yesterday, I took some things out to the work crew and took quite a nice little tumble. Yup, you guessed. I now have a whole new set of bruises and scrapes. Not for nothing, but I must be one of the klutziest persons on earth. I have no problem falling down. It's the getting up that takes some doing.

I promptly took some photos of the new boo boo's and made a layout. Ignoring them doesn' t make them disappear so I may as well have some fun with them. Here's my new layout.
*
In a few days, I will be posting links for the new July blog train that is coming. So far, all the previews for "Freedom Of Expression" look fantastic. You won't want to miss out on anything, so be watching for it on July 1.
*
I will also have another freebie for you tomorrow. I just have to wrap it up and get a link. Now I think I am going to make some lunch for Miss Tootsie, and another cup of coffee for me. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a magnificent day.

It's A Wicked Heat Wave

June 25, 2010
*
Good morning everybody. At the moment, it's quite lovely outside. According to the weather station, it's around 75 degrees which is nice. Yesterday was really brutally hot. I don't know how they did it, but my yard work crew held up through the wicked heat, and got a lot of work done. I do have to brag, these young men are fantastic. Did I mention that they are my grandsons?

I meant to go out before the clean up started and take pictures of the over growth. Alas, I did not, but late yesterday I did photograph the other side of the house. Both sides were getting to look like forests. I'll make sure to take new photos later when the work is finished.

I'm watching the weather station, and it is showing that most of our country is having higher than normal temperatures. My daughter Audrey has been telling me of their 100 plus temperatures. And it is so muggy and sticky!!!!! Could all this wicked weather be caused from damage we have done over the years to the ozone layer?

I have some photos to share today. First is the saying on the front of a tee shirt that Moo got for me. I must say that it expresses my thoughts on some days quite well!
*
The next two photos were taken this past Monday on my way home from work. It's not often that we see a blimp (dirigible) passing by overhead, so I pulled over to get a couple of photos. They remind me of "gentle giants." They are huge, and seem to move a lot slower than planes. This one is advertising Met Life Insurance.
*
We are in the hurricane season now, and on TV, they are showing the storms that are being tracked in the Gulf of Mexico. It's amazing how they can do this. They even have folks that ride into tornadoes just to get photos!! Not a job I would want.
*
Now I must get going here and get dressed before the work crew shows up an catches me in my nighty. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a marvelous day.

Today Is World Cancer Day

June 24, 2010
*
This morning is sunny, but very hot, hot. From my window, I can see a tiny breeze, but I doubt that it is enough to make the air feel more comfortable. So I shall stay in and do laundry and other fun stuff.

My friend has sent me a candle for today, World Cancer Day, and asked me to share it with others so as to keep the candle burning. I have many friends and family who are living with (or have succumbed to) this dreaded disease. It would be nice if we could find a cure for it soon.
*

I haven't been doing much in the way of designing. Seems like my brain has taken an unscheduled vacation. My mind seems to be elsewhere. It must have something to do with the heat and humidity. This is not good weather for folks with asthma. The humidity makes breathing difficult, and every bit of movement takes effort. Extreme cold acts the same way, which is why Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons.
*
Remember that big bruise I had on my arm the middle of last April? I took photos of it as it was healing because it was so big. To date, (two months later) it is gone, yet not gone. In it's place, there is a large tinted circle reminding me of where it was. I never heard of a bruise turning into a scar. I made a layout with the photos. If you look closely, you can see the large tinted circle still on my arm. Wow, all this from a small round knob on a folding closet door.
*

I think now I should go check to see if the work crew is still busy in my yard. We are in the process of clearing over-growth on the side of the house, and hopefully planting a living fence. That would really be nice when the cleanup is finished. Plus it is now time to make lunch. So till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hourse Cleaning Today, Sort Of

June 23, 2010
*
Good afternoon. And a lovely one it is even though it's hot, hot, hot!! According to the weather man, it was supposed to be raining today. Hmmmmm, wonder what he was smoking!! Sad to say, if you watch the weather forecast on several different channels, you will get several different forecasts. I guess it just depends on where the weather person were trained?

This morning I have torn apart the living room looking for a piece of paper that I need. The best that happened was that there are now a few more neat spots. I guess after lunch I shall have to attack the computer room. That ought to keep me busy for a while.

Last night, I finished the color challenge for Magickal Scraps. Snowy had picked soft lemony sherbet colors this time, and I made a mini kit called "Summer's Here." Yeah, I know. How original!! I'm just not good at coming up with catchy names for kits. Either way, it's your freebie for today.
*
Sunday night, just as I got to work, there was a little robin looking for food not too far from my car. So of course, I whipped out the camera and here's what I got.
*

About an hour later, around 8pm, I took this photo of the moon. The sky was so bright and blue, and the moon seemed to have so much detail. That's one of the good things about summer. The sky is nice and bright until much later.
*

I still have a couple more color challenges to do for a couple more forums, so there will be more mini kits coming your way soon. Meanwhile, I have been checking out some photo workshops. So far, I have found some that appear to be quite interesting, and affordable. It would be fun to try one during the summer because there is so much to photograph, but the heat would get to me, so I'm looking at Autumn.
*
Hopefully, I will get to meet Snowy too this Fall. She and Erik are making plans to spend a few weeks together around the end of October. That should be just in time for all the Halloween festivities in Salem.
*
Now it's time to make lunch for Tootsie and myself. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Warm Memories

June 22, 2010
*
It's almost "Good afternoon" but Tootsie and I have been busy this morning. She had an appointment at the hospital for another blood test and a regular check up. The doctor was not happy with the results from the last bloodwork so her meds will be changed a bit to see if it will help.

It's getting quite warm outside, so today will probably be another scorcher. I remember when we were just children and how we loved to pop the "tar bubbles" on the street when the summer temperatures rose. Back then, the streets were paved with tar. Most of us children ran barefoot a lot during the summer, so naturally we were "popping" tar bubbles with our bare toes. I don't suppose I have to tell you that this would earn us a spanking from our mothers. It was not easy to wash the tar off our feet.

Times have changed so much from when I was a little girl. I was fortunate to be growing up during the 40's and 50's. Life was so much simper and safer back then. Before I was thirteen years old, I was privvy to the "party line" telephone, the victrola, the invention of the television, and I think even the 45 rpm record player. (The 45 record player may have come the following year, I'm not positive.)

We did not have vans, we rode in "beach wagons." They had wood (or wood veneer) trims on the doors and dashboards. I poked around Google to find a picture of a beach wagon. Notice the sun visor? I wonder why we don't still have them on our cars today. They would certainly be handy when the sun is very bright. (I blacked out the numbers on the plate for obvious reasons.)

Wasn't that a nice walk down memory lane? I love these flashbacks. Now how about some photos. The other day I took lots of photos while it was raining. It fascinates me to try capturing raindrops. Walking through a garden in the rain (or right after the rain) is rather like walking through an art gallery. There is so much beauty there.
*
I know, I know, now I'm starting to sound like I'm not cooking on all burners. But try it sometime, and if you are lucky you will see all the beautiful things that I see. I call this first photo the "Raindrop Catcher." I find it quite soothing to look at.
*
This next photo is simply called "The Raindrop." It was such a perfect little raindrop.
*

Tomorrow, I promise I'll get back to the birds and the flowers photos. It's just that every now and then it's nice to take pictures outside the box. It's even nicer to share these fun pictures.
*
Now it's time to make lunch for my little Tootsie. She's been sitting here patiently so that I could write this post first and now it's her time. So till tomorrow, Y'all have a magnificent day.

Blowing Bubbles In My Puddle

June 21, 2010
*
Good morning on this first day of Summer. It's really beautiful outside at the moment, but it will probably get quite a lot warmer as the day goes on. I'm at work so I can't chat very long, but I do have photos to share this morning.

Yesterday afternoon, the skies opened up and the thunder and lightening and heavy rain were upon us. Much as I try to photograph the rain, my pictures just seem to come out blurry. BUT!! Every now and then I do get lucky. When it rains, we get a large puddle at the end of our driveway. So, from the window in my living room, I got these puddle shots. I was actually trying to capture the rain falling, but these photos were such fun. It looks like my puddle is blowing bubbles!

I have often wondered if the birds get wet when it rains like that, and how they manage to cope with it. Well I found out that they get just as soggy as we do when it rains. At least we get to stay indoors where it is dry. Here is one soggy looking Blue Jay trying to have a bit to eat yesterday during the rain.
*
Now I have to get back to work. The Mrs. has wakened so it's time to make her breakfast. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous first day of Summer.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SON & Happy Father's Day

June 20, 2010
*
So far this morning, it's quite comfortable outside. BUT!!! I'm sure that will change soon. The hot weather has moved in. There is a breeze though, so let's hope it turns out to be a great day for all your cookouts and visits with your Dads.

I won't be chatting too long this morning. There were no winks for me last night, so I will be needing a nice long nap soon. I'd have already hopped into bed, but I have to wait till it's time to give Tootsie her meds first.

This morning when I looked out the window at work, there was a little chipmunk building himself a new home. This busy little guy was digging for all his worth, and tossing the dirt up and out of his new hole. He would stop for a minute or two to sit outside of the hole and listen for intruders. Then he would climb back in and start digging again. Well, of course, I had to try to photograph some of this activity, and I made a layout with some of the photos.

I also have a QP freebie for you. It might be nice for a photo of your Dad. I hope you like it. The background is made from one of my photos.
*
And now I am going to start getting ready for that nice long nap. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

Thank You For Your Help

June 19, 2010
*
Yesterday started off rather nice, but then turned hot, hot. hot!! Today promises to be another scorcher. So instead of going to the beach yesterday, Tootsie and I spent the afternoon in Janet's backyard, sitting in the shade and drinking iced coffee and iced tea. Yes, Tootsie too! She drank almost half of my iced coffee!

Before I go any further, I want to say thank you to Kyra and everyone else who has been nice enough to send me corrections and names when I don't know the name of a plant or bird. After all these years, I now know the name of my beautiful white flowering bush that I showed photos of yesterday. It's Deutzia.

While we were at Janet's, I photographed some of her plants and flowers. Now, Janet has a cat (one of several) named Patches, and Patches is not thrilled with dogs. So she kept her eye on Tootsie, even when it looked like she was napping. If Tootsie got too close, it would only take one pounce to show who the boss was!! This is Patches keeping an eye on Tootsie through half closed eyes. She looks so happy to see my Tootsie, doesn't she?

I got some nice flower photos too, but I'll save them for another day. While I was walking through the garden, I noticed a fly busy feasting on nectar (I think). It sat right there while I crept up close to get a photograph. Now mind you, I definitely do NOT like flies. But I will take photos if given the opportunity.
*

With that, I'll be off to start my day here. Tonight starts my long work weekend, so there is laundry to do. And I'm sure that most of you have shopping to do for your Dad. Tomorrow is his big day. So till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

A Great Day For Picture Taking

June 18, 2010
*
Well, it's looking like it might be a good day for a photo shoot. That would be nice. Maybe Janet and Tootsie and I can find us a nice beach to photograph. A bit of different scenery. You know, there is a bird outside my window somewhere calling to its mate or friends. (I'm not sure which it is.) I've hear it before and do not know what kind of bird it is. I think I'm going to have to invest in a bird calling CD.

I've found a couple of interesting looking photo seminars that I want to look into for this fall. I think I might like to treat myself to a "photo shoot" trip for my birthday. It's something I've wanted to do for quite a long while. If I can get the time off from work, then it's just a matter of deciding what part of the country I want to visit, and can I really go by myself. I'm not nuts about traveling alone.

This afternoon, I think I will need to call Wayne to come by soon to have a look at Moo's computer. It doesn't seem to be working so good lately. Actually, it only works when it wants to, and that can be rather frustrating.

Enough of my babble. Today's photos are of a large bush in my yard. Every Spring it is covered with beautiful white flowers. I don't know it's name, even though I did spend a bit of time on Google trying to look it up. Still, it is quite pretty.

I also have another QP freebie for you today. I hope you can use it. Now I think I shall get dressed and start my day here. Maybe we'll even eat out for lunch. Hmmmm! That sounds like a good plan. Then maybe tonight I will be in a designing mood again. Ah well, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

A Day Of Reckoning

June 17, 2010
*
Tis a lovely cool morning here. Not really cool, but cooler. The sun isn't out at the moment, and it's not raining yet. All in good time I suppose. This week, I got a reality shock. You know, when your babies grow up and start raising families of their own, you don't feel older, just better. When you first become a grandparent, you're so happy that you don't even feel the tiny twinge of age creeping in.

As your little ones start having birthdays with the meaningful big "O's" on the end, you start feeling as though maybe you're getting older. But then comes the day of reckoning. That gorgeous little bundle of perfection that arrived so many many years ago, called "Grandson," has just had one of those "Big O" birthdays. Our Bob-O-Link has turned 30. (Lordy, he'll kill me for that! That was Papa's pet name for him.)

On top of that, the great grandchildren have already reached the grammar school stage. Guess what girlie? You have just entered the onset of "Olderhood." You are getting familiar with things like joint pain relievers, stool softeners, vitamins for the "Silver Set," forgetfulness, and moving slower.

Don 't get me wrong, I am not complaining. Just wondering how all those years got by me so quickly. The wrinkles and the gray hair came along so gradually that I never really paid much attention. The funny thing though, is that I'm really looking forward to watching those great grandkids grow up. I want to be here to see the great great grandbabies. At that point, how much more awesome can life get?

I have a set of photos for you today. Actually, I've put them all together. On my way home from work last Monday, I was sitting at an intersection when I noticed a large bird circling in the sky across the way. I grabbed my camera and got a few shots. I believe it was a hawk, but it was so far away. The photos almost look like silhouettes, which is why I put them all on one sheet. You can almost see the color in a couple of the shots. This bird was brown, and oh so graceful. Hope hope you like it.

Well, that's all for today. It's coming on time to make lunch for my little girl and me. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a marvelous day.

A Bottle Of Wine (sort of) For You

June 16, 2010
*
Well, good morning. Or should I say Good Almost Afternoon? No, I didn't just get up, but I have been busy catching up on my daily blog readings, email and such. Miss Tootsie and I are being quite lazy here. Moo has gone to the Cape, and it's really very quiet here.

Miss Tootsie's doctor called yesterday, and is a bit concerned with the results of Tootsie's last blood tests. So next week, she has to go back for another blood test and a general check up. I'm hoping they will not want to do more of the accelerated chemo. The last time they tried this, I finally stopped it because it seemed to be wearing my Tootsie down.

I am a firm believer of trying to extend someone's life, but only if it has some quality to it. I honestly feel that Tootsie's life has had a lot of quality to date. Granted, there have been some rough spots, but on the whole I believe I have been doing the right thing. She is seven now, and I am grateful for these extra years.

Speaking of Tootsie, she is sprawled out here on the carpet enjoying a cooling breeze from the overhead fan, and most likely dreaming of what's for lunch. And speaking of lunch, I need to be thinking of what to cook for our supper later today. Moo thawed out hamburg before he left, and got us a watermelon. Hmmm, maybe some rice and veggies to go with it? Sounds like a plan.
*
I have some photos to share with you today. This first flower is very pretty, but I don't know its name. I will have to get out my wildflower book and look it up. It looks like Evening Primrose, so if any of you know what it is for sure, let me know.

Remember that gorgeous Beauty Bush that I showed you a while back? The huge one in the front yard where I work? Well, most of the flowers have gone by now, and this is what it is covered with now. The whole bush is covered with lots of fuzzy pods and millions of teeny weeny hairs. It's still quite pretty in a weird sort of way.
And now, last but not least, I have for those of you who enjoy a glass of wine now and then, a sprig of wine in the making. That is, if the birds leave any for you. LOL.
Well, on that note, I think I shall get dressed now and forage through the refrigerator to see what can be for lunch. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Silly Rabbit!

June 15, 2010
*
It's afternoon here, and I know I'm a bit late in the day with my posting, but it's been a busy day. First off, the sun is shining and it is quite lovely outside. Alas, I have been indoors paying bills and such. Funny, creditors get a bit testy when you don't pay them on time. That and a few other pertinent chores done, it's time for a break and to play a while.

The other day when I posted a photo of Janet's flowers, I made a rather big boo boo. They were not Canterbury bells, they were actually Foxglove. I had been doing a bit of research on bell type flowers, and I guess the name stuck in my mind. Sorry for that, I will be more careful in the future. (At least I'll try to be.)

Yesterday, while at work, I looked out the window and there was the cutest little bunny sitting on a low rock wall. He must have seen me because he hopped down and layed low in the grass. Maybe he figured I could not see him anymore. Ha ha, silly rabbit! This first photo I took through the kitchen window.

Then I went around to the bedroom window for another shot of him. This is a different angle, and he looks quite comfortable here.
This afternoon, I have do a bit of hunting around my place here. Seems I have misplaced my birthday & anniversary list. With my memory not being as good as it used to be, I really need that list. I even printed it on neon yellow paper so that I could not lose it. So much for that reasoning!!

Well, that's all for today. I want to get started looking for that paper. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a marvelous day.

Floods And Bad News Everywhere

June 14, 2010
*
It's a cloudy gray morning, and about 60 degrees here. But the weatherman assures us that as the day goes on, it will clear up and get about 18 degrees warmer. That would be nice, especially later when it is time for me to go home.

Not much is happening here. I've been watching the news and it is so depressing. There are so many really weird storms happening with more floods and people dying. Not the kind of thing you want to hear day after day, but if you insist on burying your head in the sand the world will just go on by without you. You sort of can't win for losing!!

I will be joining up with a really neat blog train for the beginning of July, but I will give you more details on that as the time comes closer. The only hint I can offer is that it will have to do with the July holiday.

I'm watching scenes on television of some of the damage in Alabama from the oil spill, and it is disgusting. With all of today's technology, you would think that a lot of that oil spill should have been cleared up by now. It just doesn't seem to me as though they are doing much of anything to solve the problem and stop the damage that is being done to our environment.

Mr Obama seems happy just to be hopping around and talking about it. He doesn't seem to have what it takes to get anything done NOW. Does he realize that actions speak louder than words? He seems to have lots of words, but it would be nice to see some immediate action.

That's enough ranting. I have some photos to share with you today. This first photo is lily leaves in the rain. I really love trying to capture the raindrops on leaves. Sometimes I get lucky and the photos come out pretty good.

These next two photos are of a really gorgeous rose colored hydrangea. I don't think I ever saw one this color. Makes you realize just how awesome nature really is.
Well, the Mrs. is waking now so I have to get back to work. She will be wanting her breakfast soon. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

Rain, Rain And More Rain

June 13, 2010

On my way home this morning, I stopped to get breakfast for Moo and me. It's such a dreary, wet day that I thought this might be a nice way to start the day. I got us the deluxe breakfast at McDonald's, and wowee! I'm stuffed. Scrambled eggs, sausage patty, pancakes, biscuit, butter and syrup. Good thing I don't do this often. I'd be the size of a small blimp by now.

It seems that the new challenge went over well. Snowy and Kyra got right to it and came up with some gorgeous overlays from their photos. And of course, you benefit because eventually you get all these designs as freebies. It's a win win, so why not have a visit to the forum and join in the fun?

Early June is graduation time at most of our local high schools, and this weekend is filled with lots of graduation parties. Folks have been busy cleaning their yards and setting everything up in preparation for their parties. And yup! You guessed it!! It has been raining all weekend. Not very good timing for our Mother Nature. So most all the parties had to move indoors. I suppose though, the main idea was to be sharing a wonderful time with our family and friends. So the wet weather really didn't upset things too much.

Today I have a couple of photos to share of my birdies. We have lots of baby birds coming to dinner with their folks. I know some folks think it's silly to get excited about watching birds come to feed, but even the dwarfs are enjoying them. And usually, Chippy is right out there among the birds picking up his share of seeds.

Today, after a little nap, I hope to work a bit on the color challenge. I've been so busy lately that I haven't gotten to it yet. Plus, I have another QP freebie for you. And now I'm off to see what sort of mischief I can get into before it is naptime. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a marvelous day.
