Yeah!! January Is Over!

January 31, 2014

Good afternoon.  Well, it's been a very busy morning here.  First, I had to get some bills ready to put out for the mail lady.  Then I checked to make sure there were no other bills due.  Next I took care of some paper work that needed to be finished today, and to make a couple of calls to confirm that the paperwork was indeed finished.  Phew!  Time to relax.

I have no new photos so I raided my archives from April 2012 for some pretty Springtime birds.   Here's a sunny Golden Finch and a Tufted Titmouse.

The month of January is finally over, and I am soooo glad!   Tomorrow starts a new month and brings us much closer to Spring.  Just seven more weeks!   Because I won't be posting tomorrow, I'll post my February calendar page here.

Pogo is having himself a grand time barking at most anything that moves or makes a sound.  He climbs up on to the arm on the sofa so that he can see more things.  This of course gives him that much more to bark at.  Here he is keeping an eye on the girl on the TV screen.  I've blurred out the background so that he shows up better.  The show host is showing some gorgeous Valentines Day jewelry.  Hmmmm, I wonder if he is shopping for me?

Well, there's really no news for today, so I think I'll put a few more rows on the pink thing before it's time to go food shopping.  I'm beginning to feel like my old me, and that is a good feeling.  Till next post, Y'all be warm and have a fantabulous day.

Fuel Shortages And Skyrocketing Prices

January 30, 2014

Good morning.  Brrrrr, it's cold!  It's 8F degrees at the moment, working its way towards 29F degrees later today.  The sun is shining and streaming in through my window.  It has a happy look about it, but it is still cold.

I'm watching the Weather Channel, and they are discussing the problems caused by the current propane shortage, and how the propane prices have doubled.  I realize of course, that there is this thing called supply and demand.  But I do not think it should be allowed in these severe weather conditions.

Myself, I do not believe that we have an actual shortage of the propane.  I think a lot of the problem lies within politics and finances.  The areas needing the propane definitely have a shortage, but I believe the shortage has been created by government and/or big business.  This country stock piles all of it's products.  Dig out the stock piles and give it to the people who need it.

One reason for the reason is because there are limits as to how much propane can be transported at any one time on any highway (I heard this on the TV this morning.)  This could be solved by better planning on how and when to transport in order to insure that each area has enough propane.  However, as long as someone up there in the big business world needs more money for his pockets, this better planning won't be happening.

Because it is Winter and the temps go way down, the prices of heating fuels automatically go way up.  This should not be so.  In this country, there is no reason why our citizens need to be cold because they cannot get or even afford to get the necessary fuel to keep them warm.  Have you noticed how even the electricity costs seem to double in the cold weather season?  Hmmmm.

I almost could not believe my ears a while ago, as they were saying that the officials in one state are asking farmers and others who have extra propane that they do not need to give it back to the gas company for a credit, thus making it possible for the gas company to re-distribute it to the folks who do need it.

Are you kidding?  You get a credit of not more than what you paid for the propane, and the new recipient will pay at least double that figure to buy it from the gas company.  Here again, the gas company comes out with a financial win.  Isn't there a way to transport the propane from one customer to another for the same cost?  Food for thought.

You know how I've been saying how my little Pogo has been looking like a teeny grizzly bear?  Well now he looks more like a tiny Lion King.   I tried to trim some of the hair off his face so that he could see better, and now he has this large lion mane all around his beautiful little face.

One of these days, when it is just a tad bit warmer, we (Pogo and I) need to get Pogo to the beauty salon for a proper trimming, and then to Town Hall for his new license.

Here's another really adorable photo found on the web.  According to the news (where this happened in Maryland),  a person came home to find that this precious little creature had followed their family beagle in through the doggie door and had got comfortable on the sofa with it's new friend.

God bless our animals and the trust and faith they have in each other.  However, this is one reason I could not have a doggy door.  The last thing I need in my living room is a possum, a raccoon or worse, a fisher cat.

I've been asked what was in the big box that arrived with yesterday's mail.  Well, it was an end table for Joe to put together for me, a couple of small items to put into the gift drawer, two new planters for the steps outside my door, and two more flower seed balls.  I'm trying to hurry Spring along.

Well that's it for this morning.  It's time to make a new cup of hot coffee, and maybe put a few more rows on the pink thing.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be warm and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

The South Is Snowed In

January 29, 2014

Good afternoon.  I'd have been posting during morning hours, but for some reason I was not able to get any on-line sites to open.  However, after a while, things got back to normal.  Maybe it was a maintenance glitch?  Who knows.

Gosh, are you living in the warm sunny South?  I mean cold, icy and covered with snow South?  I feel sorry about all those folks who were left stranded on the highways in automobiles that could not move.  But who in their right mind leaves the house and drives their car out there when they know the roads are covered with snow and ice?

This is not normal weather for these southern folks, and they don't know how to handle it.  With just a few brains, these folks should have called out of work and stayed home, and kept their kids at home too.  State officials should have asked business to shut down and told people to stay at home.  Everyone knew way ahead of time that the snow and ice was coming, yet roads were not treated.  Some folks just do not listen.

Here's a photo that daughter Audrey posted this morning.  It's the view from her front porch.  Folks, this is southern Virginia where a few inches of snow just about shuts everything down.  According to the weatherman, they got about a foot of snow.  I will have to call her in a bit to see how things are.

We only got a dusting.  I'm surprised because usually when they forecast a dusting for us, we get substantial inches.  Today though, it was just a dusting.

As for my car, yesterday it started right up, and after letting it run for a few minutes, I drove it around the yard a bit.  One suggestion that has been made is to have someone go out and start it every day for me.  That could be a great idea, except that if a jacket sleeve or hand ever so slightly touches any of the controls to the left of the steering wheel, something will be turned on and it will guarantee that the battery will go dead.

I did not realize how temperamental this little blue car was when I purchased it, and I am constantly learning new things about it.  Sad to say, I think it is probably just a fair weather baby.

A large box arrived with the mail today, and it's time for me to finish up here so that I can go open that box.  Pogo has given it a good sniff and decided that we'll keep it.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Getting A Late Start Today

January 28, 2014

Good afternoon.  My goodness, I ran out of morning.  I admit that I slept late this morning, but finally Pogo insisted that I get up and get his breakfast.  I did, and since then have brought in (and opened) the mail, made a cup of coffee,  cleaned Pogo's potty patch, read some emails and done a bit of blog reading.  I do get side tracked easily.

Last night there wasn't much on TV to watch so I put on the Jewelry TV channel, and have been giving my eyes a real treat.  Some of the designs and gem colors are just so beautiful.  No, I did not call in and buy anything, but oh my I was tempted.  Sort of.  I don't really need any more jewelry.  But I do love to look at it.

There was one segment that I found very disappointing.  It was Artisan Crafted jewelry from Israel.  Some of the gems used were lovely, but the mountings and ring bands looked very unprofessional.  They were ragged and looked like a children's class had produced them.  It's possible that many folks like this sort of jewelry, but I like mine to look a bit more cleaned up.

There was one item that I did like.  It was a little bottle with a prayer rolled up inside, and it hung from a silver chain.  I found this item quite beautiful and charming.  I also liked the blue druzy gemstones, just not the mountings.

Later today I will have to go outside and (attempt to) start my car.  If it starts, I'll let it run, drive it back and forth a bit in the driveway and then shut it down.  First chance I get, I want to get to Sears, and buy me a Diehard battery.  I'm thinking that Hyundai puts cheap batteries in their cars.  When you consider the price tag on the cars, I would think that a good battery should be included.

If it doesn't start, well let's not even think that!!!  After that is accomplished, I may just curl up in my lounge chair and knit on the pink thing for a while.  Right now, it is about 28 inches long and 44 inches wide.  So, I still have quite a way to go before it will become a lap blanket.  About 22 more inches.

Enough babble.  I found this adorable photo on the web and thought it was worth sharing.  Isn't this baby just adorable?

And here's another cute cartoon that I also found on the web.  As soon as I saw it, I thought of my friends who live in the central and northern states.

Now I  think it's time to put on my warm jacket and see about the car situation.  Till tomorrow, Y'all be warm and have a wonderful day.

Some Wonderful Goodies In My Mailbox

January 27, 2014

Good morning.  Have you noticed that we are almost out of January?  Oh my, that is so good.  I think.  It means we are that much closer to Spring.  Today we are having a fairly warm day, 49 F degrees, but tomorrow's high will be around 19F degrees.  Thirty degrees is a big jump in temps for one day.  But it has been this way through most of the winter.  Maybe that's why the cold and flu strains are so bad.

I am so looking forward to when I can take Pogo and my camera and get out to take some photos.  I'm not used to being cooped up for so long, and I need to build up my photo archives with newer photos.  I use my archives to pull from when I can't get out.

I do have some special treats to share that my friend Kyra has made for me.  She has a fabulous talent for making beautiful scrap pages.  This first scrap page was made with Kyra's kit "Looking Back".

This next scrap page is going to absolutely delight Joe, so I will have to print it out for him.  This one was made with Kyra's "Cold But Cosy" kit.

Folks, give yourselves a treat, grab your cup of coffee and visit Kyra's blog and check out all these gorgeous kits.  Each kit is accompanied by a set of add-ons that are made by her friend Arlene.  These ladies are just awesone!  While you're there, do take a moment to say hello.  And if you love Yorkies, do check out Kyra's kit "Sweet Winter".  There's a darling little Yorkie in this kit.

Well, that's all for now.  It's time to take Pogo into the bathroom and give him a bath.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be warm, and have a fabulous day.

I Do Think I May Be On The Mend

January 26, 2014

Good afternoon.  Wow, did I ever have a good sleep this morning!  I did get up earlier this morning to open the pantry door so that Pogo could go looking for Joe and his morning turkey treat.  Once I did that, I crawled right back into bed, and slipped right back into dreamland.

Speaking of Joe, here's a photo of him enjoying a cup of coffee with his new coffee mug that he got for Christmas.  When he got it, it was filled with delicious chocolate.  Kyra, here's big "thank you" from Joe.

Gosh, sometimes I feel like a neglectful Mama.  Poor Pogo wants to run and play and I haven't really had the energy or the want to do this for such a long time.  But I do cuddle and play with him, and pretty soon we'll be able to play outdoors.

I do believe I may be on the mend.  I don't want to say it out loud and jinx it from happening, but this afternoon I am enjoying my cup of coffee.  That's a good sign, right?  And today the sun is shining.  Now all we need is for the temps to go up.

Yesterday, I had hopes of going food shopping.  I did not feel up to going Friday afternoon, and put it off till Saturday morning.  Well, Mother Nature had other plans.  My car was once again frozen and dead like a door knob.  Once was not so funny, but twice is not acceptable.  My car is brand new and should not be having these kind of problems.

SIL Eddie came to the rescue and got my car started, and Joe and I were able to do our food shopping.  As for Hyundai, I am not so happy with them anymore.  And I'm not so happy with Baby Blue Eyes anymore either.  Her happy glow has faded.

This week I'm hoping to order my 2013 Volume Three Blog Book.  That will get me caught up to date with my books.  That's about it for today.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be warm and have a wonderful day.

A Couple Of Spring Photos To Warm Us Up

January 24, 2014

Good afternoon.  This is another of  those cold days, so I stayed under the covers as long as I could get away with it.  Finally Pogo started barking at me that he was hungry.  However, as soon as I put his dish of food down, he promptly crawled back into his little bed.  Hmmm, such a picky little dog.

There's not much happening here today, so I'm not going to chat a lot.  I have to see if my car is unfrozen because later Joe and I will be going food shopping.  The lock on my car door freezes, and this weather has not had any spells warm enough for it to thaw out.

Yesterday afternoon, Janet came by and we were able to book our flights for Florida.  Wow, what a big jump in price for airfare.  Each ticket has gone up about $200.  Pogo's ticket is the only one that the price has remained the same as last year.

I have a couple of photos from last Spring to help warm up the day.  I took these when the swans' eggs were hatching.

Now I'm going to check the mail and see if my car door will open.  Till tomorrow, Y'all be warm and have a fabulous day.

Snow, Snow Everywhere.

January 23, 2014

Good morning.  Gosh, I will be so glad to see Spring arriving with warmer temps and flowers.  Yesterday, I just could not get warm.  I had a chill right to the bone, and could not get warm.  So, I spent most of the day and all night tucked under my flannel blanket.  I finally got smart and put on a pair of fuzzy slipper socks.  That helped by making my feet warm, and thereby making me a bit warmer.

I do have a physical coming up soon, and I will have a chat with the doctor about how to get rid of these colds sooner.  I think this has been my worst year (for being sick) in a long time.  Enough already.  I want my days back.

I had planned on working on the pink thing, but I never touched it all day.  Maybe today.  At least I've been able to find enough program repeats on TV to keep me busy.  The dwarfs have been very good.  One of them brought me some Mucinex to try, and another shoveled almost the whole driveway before Joe got home from work.  Needless to say, Joe was very happy to see yard all shoveled.   (We ended up with more than a foot of new snow.)

There's really no news for today, so I'll share some cute images from the web.  These should brighten up the day for some of us.

Now, I'm going to feed Pogo, drink my coffee and decide what I feel like doing today.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Only 58 More Days Till Spring

January 22, 2014

Good morning.  I guess I'm missing on some blog lists, but I'm really still here.  I only took off the Saturday.  Gosh, it is cold and white here!  The snow started yesterday afternoon, and it hasn't stopped yet.  This photo was taken at the beginning of the storm.

Isn't this a pretty image?  It almost looks like Christmas candles, but it is really the snow on top of the hedge outside my window.

I always try to photograph the snow falling on my gentle giants (trees) because it looks so pretty.

I got up in the middle of the night to take this next photo.  I realize it is a very blurry photo, but for some reason, I like it.

This morning, the snow is still falling and piling up.  These next two photos were taken through the kitchen window.  As you can see, there is a foot of snow on the bird feeder.

I doubt if there will be any mail delivered today.  If your driveway is not shoveled, the mail does not get delivered.  Our yard won't be cleared until later today when Joe gets home.  No biggie.  A day without bills in the mail is a nice day.

The worst part of all this snow is the cold.  I really don't like the cold temperatures.   According to the weather forecaster, the cold temps will be with us for another week.  Oh goodie!  I just have to keep telling myself that Spring is coming.  Only 58 more days till Spring.

Today I will probably do some more knitting.  The pink thing is growing, and I'm thinking that it might end up as a warm fuzzy blanket for Pogo.  He doesn't care that it is raspberry pink.  As long as it is warm and fuzzy, that's all he cares about.

I really don't have any news for today, so I think I will take my leave here.  Till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Oh Boy, More Snow Coming!

January 21, 2014

Good morning.  Brrr, the cold temps are back, and a lot of snow is expected to be back shortly.  One weatherman says we're getting 5-8 inches, and another says we're getting 8-12 inches.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.  The other day we were supposed to get a dusting, and there was six inches of snow all around my car.  We just never know what to expect.

I think I'm starting to go "cold" crazy..  This cold is taking so long to leave my body, and I'm getting bored.  I don't really have the energy to do a lot of things that I could be doing, so lately I've picked up my knitting again.

The "pink thing" that I've been working on once in a while over the last few years is growing, however I still don't know what it will be when it finally grows up.  When I first started working on it, my hands were starting to hurt, so I only pick it up every once in a while.  I'm sure it is full of all sorts of mistakes, but Pogo doesn't seem to care.  He loves it.  It is soft and fuzzy and warm.

I bought me a new book of Granny Square patterns, so I think this year, I will take my crochet hooks and some yarn with me to Florida.  I usually like to pack up one of my craft projects and mail it on ahead to myself a week before I leave for vacation.  This way, it is waiting there for me, and I don't have to worry about carrying it in my suitcase.

I don't like to pack anything other than clothes in my suitcase, because baggage handlers seem to always to pick my suitcase to open.  They break, and keep sometimes, the little lock.  One would think that their fabulously smart xray system would pick up any bad stuff they are looking for hidden away in my socks and undies.    However, some of their employees insist on breaking the little locks and rifling through the clothes.

This makes it just a bit more difficult for me because then I have to carry all of my valuables in my carry on.  Add to this, Pogo with his carry case and stroller, my suitcase and my purse.  I have a lot to carry before I reach the check in and the wheel chair.  However, I manage, and I will keep on as long as I can.

All of this reminds me that I need to start booking our flights.  After that, I need to decide on which carry case Pogo will use this year.  I will also have to figure out how to downsize my carry on case.  Every smaller adjustment helps.  Last year, I left the stroller at home, but then it wasn't as much fun for Pogo.  This year I believe we will take it with us.

Enough of my babbling, it is time to find a little mischief to get into.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

An Awesome Weekend For Jazzy

January 20, 2014

I guess I rested too much yesterday, because this was not my best night  for sleeping.  I did doze on and off throughout the night, but that is not the same as a few good solid hours of sleep.  Ah well, tonight will be better.  It's almost 5 a.m. so I thought I'd just get an early start on my day.

I got a happy email last evening from Deanne, telling me the results of yesterday's day at Jazzy's musical theatre competition.  She was in three more numbers:  (1) Telephone Hour from Bye Bye Birdie, which received a platinum trophy and overall first place and was nominated for access broadway star.   (2) Les Miserables, which received a platinum trophy and overall second place.  (3) Mary Poppins, which received a platinum trophy, overall first place and won access broadway star.  This is AWESOME!!!  Her theatre group, On Stage Theatre, received highest honor of 2014 Best Debut Broadway School.

Oh if only my Michael were still here.  Musical Broadway was his absolute favorite entertainment next to baseball and softball.  He would be so puffed up with pride, and rightly so.  With two fabulous baseball players and a budding Musical Broadway star in the family, who wouldn't be proud.

Today, I really must call the beauty salon and make an appointment for Pogo.  His precious little face is getting lost in all the hair and he is beginning to look like a teeny tiny grizzly bear.  He even growls like one sometimes to get his point across.

All this extra hair has made it difficult for him to get in and out of his Santa hat hideaway bed.  I was awakened the other night by some soft scuffling noises, and found Pogo stuck halfway in his Santa hat.  The hat bed had rolled over on it's side and was pulling Pogo along with it.  The poor little fellow was getting so frustrated, so I pulled him out of it.  We may have to give this bed away and find him something else.

I have another humorous story to share.  Folks, have you ever gone Funeral Home Hopping?  Well it seems that my daughter and her hubby, along with a friend, did just that one late afternoon and evening.  Another friend's family member had passed and the wrong name and address of the funeral parlor was listed in the newspaper.  So, they spent a few hours visiting several places to find their friend's mom and pay their respects.   I'll give them credit, they certainly tried.

Another story I have to share this morning happened a few days ago while I was watching the QVC shopping channel.  The sales person was describing some little bracelets and the charms that were on them, and happened to mention that they would be perfect gifts for that "man/woman love holiday" that was coming soon.

I don't know about other folks, but this type of personal expression in a sales pitch does not go over well with me.  She could have just said "Valentine's Day".  She did not have to be so specific in her personal beliefs.  I called the station's consumer department and put in a complaint.  I told them that I was deeply offended by her remark and if it continued, I would not be watching their program any more.

In my world, we do not all have to look or be the same.  But we do have to respect each other and live together in our world.  Plants and animals do not look and live alike, and neither do us people.  However, the plant and animal world seems to share their world so much better than us people do.

Pogo's beginning to look for his breakfast so I think I'll wander out to the kitchen and whip us up some food.  Till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Bloggy Birthday To Me, And Congratulations To Our Jazzy Girl

January 19, 2014

Good morning.  Wow, taking a day off on purpose is not as easy as I thought it would be.  All morning, I was having "bloggy withdrawal".   Go ahead, laugh.  This blog has become such a big part of my daily life.  I started my blog six years ago, on January 18, 2008.  My hubby had recently passed away, and this was a way for me to keep my mind busy and hang in there.

Throughout these past six years, I have met and made friends with some of the most awesome folks, and even got to meet a couple of you in person.  During these same years, I've learned so much about scrapbooking and designing, and digital art.  I've also grown a bit with my photography, and been able to share ideas with so many of you.  I've definitely been blessed.

Yesterday, Deanne and Jasmine went to Connecticut for a weekend competition in drama and musical arts.  I just have to share with you an awesome photo and to say that I am so proud of our Jazzy Girl.  In this photo, she and her group are performing Bohemian Rhapsody.  She was only in one number yesterday, but she and her group took first place and a platinum trophy.  (the hightest one you can get) in their musical theatre category.

They were also nominated for a broadway star but did not get it.  However, another group from her theatre did get it along with a first and platinum.  Both mother and daughter are having a great weekend.  Congratulations Jazzy, I love you and I'm very proud of you.  (That's our Jazzy, third girl from right, back row)

Yesterday we had a mixed bag of weather here in our little part of New England.  Early in the morning, it looked a bit gray, but upon looking out the window I found it was pouring rain.  Lots and lots of puddles every where.  "Oh well," I said to one of the dwarfs, "at least it is better than snow."  I should have kept quiet because in just a short time there was lots and lots of snow falling from the skies.

It was coming down at a pretty good clip, and before you knew it, everything in the yard was completely covered with white stuff.  The flakes were big and wet.   Here's a few photos to show how quickly the snow was building up on my car.  These photos were taken just a few minutes apart.  The last time I looked out later in the afternoon, there was at least six inches of snow on the ground by my car.

Well, that's my news for this morning.  I do have a new photo of my little Pogo, but I shall save that for tomorrow.  So, till then, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Little "Spring" To Brighten Your Day

January 17, 2014

Good afternoon.  Gosh, I sat down a couple of hours ago to type my blog post, and I got side tracked.  I was busy reading other blogs and then checking through my photo archives to find some fun photos to share.  I'm taking an idea from someone else and posting some Spring time photos.

We did not have many hummingbirds in our yard last year, at least I did not get to see them.  This year, I'm hoping to see more of them.  I'll be planting a few more flowers to hopefully attract them.

Here's a rather woodly looking character who was busy having himself a feast in the Mrs' backyard one day.  He must have heard me, and started looking around for the intruder.  Once he saw me, he promptly ran away.

Our weather these past few days has been pretty good, and today looks just lovely.  The cold temps will be back soon, but I'm enjoying the break from the freezing cold.  Other folks around the country and the world are experiencing some horribly hot temps and raging wild fires.  I worry for their safety and the lives of the wildlife.  It makes me wonder where all of this leads to.

Last night I got to watch the newest fashion design show on TV.  "Under The Gunn" with Tim Gunn looks to be very interesting and fun.  It has a lot of different twists than the "Project Runway" original version.  I'm really looking forward to watching the rest of this program.

This year, I think I'm going to take a day off each week from blogging.  I like to sleep late on Saturday mornings so I'll make that my down day.  This way, when the good weather finally gets here, I can maybe get out a bit earlier in the morning and catch a few of the Saturday morning flea market sales.  We'll see.

So, on that note, I think it's time for me to get dressed, check the mail and make up my food shopping list.  Later this afternoon, Joe and I will be going to the market.  It will feel good to get outside for a little bit even if it is just walking to and from the car.  So, till Sunday, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Warning! Another Rant Page!

January 16, 2014

Good morning.  It's looking a bit gray and cold out there this morning.  Try 34F degrees and foggy, with the weather man promising 41F degrees and rainy.  But, it's still better than more snow and below freezing temps.

Well, last night I stayed up late and played cards on my laptop and caught up on a bunch of emails, a catalogue order and blog reading.  It's amazing how time flies when you are having fun. After a while of playing, I looked up at the clock and it was 2 a.m.  Oh my, time to get ready for bed.

Yesterday was a pretty good day with only a little coughing.  I'm (hopefully) definitely on the mend.   As much as I shouldn't rush back to work on the weekend, I really need to get back there pretty soon so they will remember that I still work there.  I've lost so much work time this past year because of these nasty colds and infections.

I found an absolutely adorable image on the web that I thought I would share with you.  There are days when this would make life so much easier for some of us gals.  Maybe this lovely lady is wearing what could become a new fashion trend.  After all, if it is okay for guys to walk around with their pants around their knees, why can't we ladies wear our new trendy "pullups"?

I've been watching the Weather Channel, and they are very disturbed about the severe drought that is ongoing throughout the whole state of California.  They obviously have never read my blog when I've been ranting about building water pipe lines across the country to offset the flooding in some parts and put out the fires in the West.

If we can destroy our ecosystem and wildlife to put in an oil pipeline for Canada, why can't we build a water pipeline to save our people and country.  Nothing against Canada, but who will save the rest of the world when we are all done destroying ourselves?

We feed and clothe the world, give them free medical, and anything else they want or need.  When we are down to our last cup of water, who is going to step in and start supporting us?  Do you really think that anyone will?  Instead of spending billions of dollars on getting the news out to all available media forms, can't we use those billions for some water pipelines?  How about cutting back all aid to other countries a percentage and use it to save our own people?

Calm down Edna girl.  Why bother making noise about any of this.  I won't be here when the younger generations have to live with the consequences of man's bad decisions.  I care because I'll be leaving behind some very special people.  My family.  My children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and maybe even some great greats.

This same thought affects all of us.  So if you live in or near any of these severe drought areas, try making some noise about putting in water pipe lines while we still have these beautiful parts to our countries.

One of my daughters sent this delightful image (from the web) to me.  This little fellow is so adorable, and looks like the ones who climb up and peek into my living room window to remind me that they need more food.

I  found this next beautiful image on my daughter's web page.   It really touched my heart, and made a lump in my throat.  This mother managed to bring all her babies out of the fire and put them in a safe place.

Well, I think I need to get dressed and go look for some mischief to get into before the day slips by.  I should clean out my pots and pans cupboard today.  DIL Janet gave me a beautiful new set of cookware, so now I shall get rid of some of my old pans.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.

The Dust Bunnies Are Dancing Today

January 15, 2014

Good morning.  Well, There's still a cough, but it's not as often and much easier to live with.  As for my wonderful woozies, they are fading.  But I must say that the feeling certainly was nice while it lasted.  However, I did take everyone's advice and left the vacuum alone.

My dust bunnies are still celebrating the fact that they can keep their home for a while longer.   They were oh so happy.  Last night, I put down a saucer of expired Sam Adams down for them.  One of the little cuties lapped up so much beer that he passed out right in the saucer.  Oh my, so I got a tissue and dried him off and put him back in his little corner.  Sweet dreams little buddy.

Seeing as how I'm not out getting any new photos for a while, I decided to take some pictures of my beautiful new necklace.  This was a gift from my friend Andrea, and is so unique and fun to wear.  It has six interchangeable magnetic discs, and my favorite little guy's photo is on four of them.  This disc is my favorite.  It was taken the first time I ever met my Pogo.  Thank you so much Andrea.

This morning, I'm taking it easy.  I put in a load of laundry, and while it was drying I played a bit in Photoshop.  I used one of my "foggy day" photos, applied a bit of filtering, blending and another layer, and came up with this.  I guess maybe it is my mind thinking ahead of what's to come in this new year.  I don't know.  What's your interpretation?

Anyway, the clothes dryer has stopped, so I must go and fold my laundry before the wrinkles set in.  I do not like my clothes wrinkled.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous day.

Greetings From Miss Woozy Floozy

January 14, 2014

Good morning.  Did you ever think that feeling woozy could be good?  Well, it can if you're curled up in a flannel blanket in an oversized lounge chair and watching TV.  And it wasn't really woozy, but almost woozy.  And it was the Weather Channel so it didn't really matter if you couldn't follow along.  But it did feel good that most of the coughing was gone for a while.

All this heavenly bliss was from a bottle of prescription cough medicine.  I had to sign away one of my legs and my next first born to get this "less than 2/3's filled bottle of medicine, and they only charged me $61 USD.  Can you imagine?  This was highway robbery, but I paid it in order to get some relief from the coughing.

I hate to say this, but our health insurance plans may be a contributing factor why some people buy drugs on the streets.  They are cheaper and easier to get.   No, I'm not doing it, but I can understand why some folks do.  I could go off on a tangent about the cost of our drugs, but I'll be nice today and move on.

Yesterday afternoon my daughter Deanne drove me to my doctor appointment.  When we left and were on our way to pick up her daughter at school, I noticed a gorgeous big round moon in the afternoon blue sky.  When we got to a red traffic light, Deanne took some photos with her cell phone and sent them to me.  Isn't this a pretty moon?

Right now, I'm watching the QVC shopping channel.  They are featuring garden plants from "Cottage Farms".   Some of these plants are just so gorgeous!!   Oh wow, I am soooooo tempted!  There are a couple of spots in my yard that are just waiting for some colorful plants.  There is even have a new butterfly bush that only grows about three feet tall.  It can be planted and grown in large pots, making it perfect for small gardens.  Hmmmmm, I'll have to give this one some thought.

Well, my coffee is gone so I think I'll get started on my laundry.  Who knows?  I may even make nice nice with the vacuum.  Woo Hoo!  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I'm Turning Into A Cough Drop

January 13, 2014

Good morning.  Well, I did call the doctor this morning, and he will see me this afternoon.  I would much rather have gotten a morning appointment, but it was not to be.  I will be so glad when this cold bug is finally gone by.  My mid section hurts so from coughing  I've gone through several bags of cough drops, and I have been taking "Nature Fusion" cough syrup but neither seems to stop the cough.

I feel so bad about not being able to get out and take photos.  Each year, I try to set a goal of taking at least one new photo every day, but then life has its own ideas.  I suppose though, that this is what makes life interesting.

So, instead, I went into my photo archives and pulled out a couple of photos of the colors of Spring.  With all the bad weather everywhere, these should feel like eye candy.

On a positive note, Spring is only a couple of months away.  In another month it will be time to start getting ready for some indoor planting.  I don't usually have much luck when I plant seeds in the little starter pots, so this year I'm going to try planting seed balls.  What can possibly go wrong with seed balls?  Don't answer.

While I'm typing, I'm also on the phone with my RX plan.  Hopefully, they will be mailing my meds out soon so that I can keep on breathing.  I could pick these same meds up right down the street at the local Walmart pharmacy, but they would cost me so much more.  It's amazing how meds cost so much more when picked up in person.  The same meds mailed to you cost only half as much or less.  Interesting.

Well that's it for now.  Till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

These Colds, They Just Love Me!!

January 12, 2014

Do you remember when you were a child, going to Sunday School, or the equivalent in your faith, and singing:

Jesus loves me, this I know
For the bible tells me so.
Little ones to him belong
They are weak and He is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
The Bible tells me so.

I woke up this morning singing this little song in my mind, over and over.  I'm thinking that it's a clue that I'm going to be on the mend soon.  And better yet, that I'm so lucky to have so many wonderful people caring about me and checking in on me.  It's a potent medicine, especially for the mind and heart.

Last night, I made some supper for myself and Pogo.  While I was eating my food, I checked my blog and tried to catch up on some of my emails.  After that, I curled up in my lounge chair, all snuggled in my new flannel blanket, and drifted off to napland with a smile on my face.

You guys are wonderful.  My family and friends and all my blog friends.  You're the best!!  I feel very blessed indeed.

Tomorrow morning I will call my doctor to see if he can give me something to clear my chest.  If he can fit me in, my daughter Deanne will drive me to his office.  With this cold, my legs have been quite achy, so I've been taking pain pills.  When I take pain pills, I don't drive.  (I can't figure out why my legs are aching either.  The cold is in my head and my chest, not my legs!)

This morning, I watched "Inspiration Today" on TV, with Pastor Mike Murdoch.  Folks, I could listen to this man all day.   He delivers his messages with such feeling and humor.  He has a way of making you feel really glad that you are listening to him.

I don't have a new photo to post today, but I found this in one of my emails and thought I would share it with you.  It's so true!

Now I'm going back to my oversized lounge chair.  I have a little table on one side of the chair that holds my box of tissues, water bottle, pen, remote control and telephone.  On the other side of the chair is a little "cabinet-end table with drawers".  On this I keep my puzzle magazines, a bag of cough drops, my nose spray and a baggie filled with unsalted crackers to snack on.   That, and my little dog on my lap, and I'm all set.

Thank you so much for caring.  Till tomorrow, Y'all be warm and have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

71 Days Till Spring

January 9, 2014

Good morning.  I do believe I've caught a cold.  Ugh, ugh, ugh!  I seem to be coughing a lot lately, so I've had to dig out the cough drops and the cough syrup.  I suppose it's my own fault though.  I don't know enough to stay away from people who a re sick.  Ah well, this shall pass.

I have such a busy day today.  I try not to schedule everything to happen on one day, but other people set up appointments to suit their schedules.  This morning the house insurance folks are coming out to do their "once in a while with no warning" check to make sure the house is still standing and in good shape.  About the same time, my accountant will be stopping by to go over a few financial matters.

I have to call the prescription insurance plan, but I will have to wait until these other folks have left.  These new RX plans are not so easy to set up.  I spent hours in the Fall just trying to get myself enrolled, and now they say I have to do it all over again because they could not set up my account until the first time I called in after the first of January.  Why did they not tell me this before?  I'd have been on the phone on January 2.

When Joe gets home from work this afternoon, I have to take him food shopping, so I'll do mine at the same time.  We have to be back home by the time Wayne gets out of work because Wayne is coming over to update my Internet Explorer.  Phew!  I hope I can stay awake tonight long enough to watch the final episode of my TV program.

Yesterday afternoon, DIL Janet came by after work and we had a wonderful supper and visit together.  I have to say I am a very lucky lady to have such a wonderful daughter in law.  She is so very good to me.

These folks will be showing up soon, so I'll leave you with a few pictures of "kitty do's" that I photographed from the TV a while ago.

Now I must get ready to greet these folks.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.
