Good Bye 2008

December 31, 2008

Good Bye to 2008. Tonight we cheer in the new year, 2009. Tootsie, Moo and I wish you all a Wondrous New Year. May you be blessed with happiness, good health and prosperity. I want to say thank you to all the wonderful scrappers who have stopped by and given me the caring and support that I needed to get through a difficult, yet busy and learning year.

I am thankful for my family and all my wonderful scrap friends everywhere. I am also very thankful that Moo and Tootsie have made it through another year. This past year, I was blessed with two more great grandchildren. We almost have enough for a softball team, Papa. Wherever you are, may your soul rest in peace.

Now I will seriously have to think about what I would like or need to do in the upcoming new year. I have new programs to learn on my computer and more designing to do. I might even try to get in more exercise. Tootsie and I could certainly use a treadmill or an exercise bike. H-m-m-m. We'll see.

As for tonight, I am staying at home with Tootsie and Uncle Moo. We will share a nice dinner,
and toast in the new year together while we watch the ball drop in Times Square (on TV, of course!).

Before I leave today, I would like to share with you the infamous "ball" that has been trying ever so gracefully to expire. My Tootsie is very persistent, however, and will keep on breathing new life into it as long as she can. That means - new tape every few weeks or so. God bless her. Till tomorrow,

Hugs, Edna B.

Country Christmas - Part Two

December 30, 2008

The wind is howling something fierce outside my windows today. all day long, it's been blowing trash barrels and all sorts of junk out into the streets and into yards. Otherwise, it would probably be a fairly nice day, all things considered.

Yesterday, we had quite a scare at Magickal Scraps. The site was down, and no one knew why. Snow Raven spent a good portion of the day working with Su and the site management company. By late afternoon, it was mostly back to order. Whew!!! Talk about withdrawal. You miss things most when all of a sudden you don't have them anymore.

This afternoon we go back to the hospital, and Tootsie finishes up her treatments for this round. It feels good to say "no more for another 6 weeks!" I wonder what goes on in her mind. She handles this so well. Makes you wonder if we would do as well were we in her shoes. But then, I always knew she was special.

This afternoon, I will post the rest of "Country Christmas" for you. I hope you enjoy it. Now I have to move on and work on 2009. There is only a day and a half left of this year. I know I sound like a broken record, but where did it go? Here's hoping that 2009 will be a great year for all of us. Have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

"Country Christmas" Part One

December 29, 2008

What a gorgeous morning today. The sun is out, it's not too cold, and the traffic isn't so heavy.
That's good because Tootsie had to go for her chemo this morning when I got home. Of course, she had to wear her Christmas dress to show off for the doctors and technicians. One treatment down, three more to go, and then she's all set for another six weeks. Glory be.

I thought I would post early today in case I fizzle out later and go to bed early. Today, I'll be posting the papers for the "Country Christmas" kit. Tomorrow I'll put up the elements. There are so many beautiful Christmas kits out there, so I try to make mine just a little bit different. I'm hoping you like it.

Today, I need to make up a recipe layout for my January Recipe challenge so that I'll have everything ready for posting to the forum on Wednesday night. While you folks are partying and drinking the bubbly stuff, I'll be setting up my challenges. But that's okay for me. That's one night I'd much rather stay at home.

Is anybody going to try dieting for the New Year? If so, and you need some moral support, come to the Magickal Scraps forum. We have a challenge called "In The Kitchen" where you can get a lot of support. Either for taking off the pounds or putting some on. It's always more fun with friends.

Just in case any designers or would be designers would like a chance to have a store at our forum, here are Snow Raven's ads.

Now it's time for me to get work creating and maybe squeezing in a bit of housework. Have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Another Christmas QP

December 28, 2008

Are all your New Year's Eve party plans set? Or are you staying at home? Tootsie and I will be staying at home with Uncle Moo. We can have a toast with our Samuel Adams, and watch the ball drop on our TV.

This morning I finished up the two Bonus kits for my January challenges at Magickal Scraps. Next I have to start making up some kits for the upcoming holidays and seasons. Busy, busy, busy. There is just no rest for the wicked. And I am very busy, so I must be very wicked.

If you liked yesterday's Christmas QP, I have another one for you today. Then tomorrow and Tuesday, I will post the Country Christmas kit. That will be it for 2008. Thursday, the new daily download kit starts at Magical Scraps. It's mega, and it's a beauty. Stop by the forum, and take a look at the January slideshow that Snow Raven put up.

Today, Uncle Moo is feeling much better, so he's cooking us dinner with the leftover Christmas ham. Then tonight is a work night again. So far, I have the New Year holiday off. That's a first. I have worked it every year since I can't remember when.

Now it's time to play with Tootsie for a while. Maybe even get in a small nap. Have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Back To Work time

December 27, 2008

It's back to work time. Tonight I will try to finish up the January challenge posting rewards. I have all the papers done, now I have to work on the elements. Plus I need to make my own layouts for these two challenges.

Tootsie starts back to chemo this Monday and Tuesday. This six week thing is fantastic. It seems like such a long time between appointments. She has been so good lately. Must be the season. With her ratty old ball, even with all the tape on it, she is just as happy as a little pig in ****! Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could please everybody this easily?

I don't have very much to say today. It's very quiet here. Uncle Moo isn't feeling all too good today. Everybody seems a bit more mellow. Must be the big let down after all the excitement of the Holiday.

This week, I have the new Country Christmas kit for you. Tonight, I will give you one of the QP's from the kit. I hope you like it. Till tomorrow,

Hugs, Edna B.

'Tis The Day After Christmas.....

December 26, 2008

Did everyone have a wonderful Christmas Holiday? We did. Christmas Eve, Moo and Tootsie and I celebrated together and opened our gifts. We usually wait till Christmas morning, but this year I had to work on Christmas Day. I took a lot of photos of Tootsie and Moo playing with their new stuff, and I'll share one of them with you today.

My little girl had a grand time sniffing every package, every piece of wrapping, and then checking the contents of every package. She was such a delight to watch. I am so thankful to have had her all this time.

In the photo, she is checking the outfits that Auntie Audrey and Miss Bea sent her. She also got lots of treats, and a new blanket. I had already given in and taped her old ball together. This pleased her tremendously, and she was in great spirits for the Holiday. ( I had to post the photo at the end of the post because Blogger is up to it's old tricks of messing up my post. Sorry.)

I had a great time at work. My boss cooked a wonderful breakfast, and we all sat down together to enjoy it. She made us the most delicious pan omelet I have ever tasted. M-m-m-m-m!! Add this to all my other blessings, and I am one truly blessed lady.

Now that the rush and hoopla are over for a bit, I must settle down and finish up your Christmas kit. I hope to have it ready for you shortly. So now I'm off, got to check some of my favorite blogs, and make some more scraps. Have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Open Mouth, Insert Foot!

December 24, 2008

Well, today I finally did it! Opened mouth and put in foot! I went to the nail salon, but could not park in the handcap spot because there was already a pickup truck parked there - and it had no handicap tags. I parked in another spot, and went inside.

A policeman was inside, talking to rather handsome young man. I waited politely until they finished talking, and then told the policeman about the truck that was parked in the handicap spot. The tall young man said "Oh dear, that's my truck. I didn't realize I was parked in the wrong place." I said "Shame on you, but you're forgiven this time, it's Christmas. Just don't do it again young man." He said he wouldn't. All this time, the pretty little blonde having her nails done was laughing up a storm.

As the policeman was leaving, I laughed and said to him "If you see him parked there again, give him a ticket." He replied, "Oh don't worry ma'am, I'll keep after him all day."

I chatted with this nice young man, while his wife (the pretty young blonde) was having her nails done. When it was my turn to be waited, the manicurist said to me "Did you know that he is a policeman too?" (meaning the handsome young man that I had scolded) This is where I felt the foot being inserted into my mouth.

To make matters worse, I noticed after a while, that he wasn't even in the handicap spot. There was no handicap spot. The city plows had dumped all the snow from that part of the parking lot on top of the only handicap spot. By this time, that foot that I stuck in my mouth was all the way down to my belly. I turned all shades of red, and apologized profusely to this handsome young policeman.

I'm back home now, and hopefully cannot get into any more trouble today. I have to wrap the gifts for all the little dwarfs, then I'll be done. Wrapping should be fun, they're all getting comforters this year. You all be good now, Santa's coming tonight.

Hugs, Edna B.
Merry Christmas Everybody.

Last Minute Things

December 23, 2008
Gosh, only two more days till Christmas. I still have a bunch of wrapping to do. Today, Tootsie went to the beauty salon to get all spiffed up for Santa, and I went over to the Christmas Tree Shop to diddle away time while I waited for her. Big mistake!! I know better than to go in that store! It's difficult to get out of there without spending at least $100.

But, I did find the last two little things that I needed to pick up. And then a few more! Oh well, I'll be glad for that when I snuggle up in my new fuzzy fleecy bathrobe tonight. I even got fuzzy new slippers to keep my toes warm.

Tonight I'm busy trying to get a bit ahead with my January challenges for Magickal Scraps. I host the Recipe Challenge and the Inspiration Challenge. Drop by and check them out. Plus Snow Raven has a brand new Kitchen Challenge that is great if you want to learn how to design.

Plus we have a new Heritage Challenge. Drop by and have some fun with us.

Tonight I'll share a layout that I made for the Heritage Challenge. I used Snow Raven's kit "Christmas Glory." Enjoy, and have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Oops! A Boo Boo.

December 22, 2008

Oh my, when I make a boo boo, it's usually a good one. I have just been told that I put up a wrong link for the elements to "Chanukka 2008." I gave you the elements preview, and the link for the QP. At least I can fix this easily. Today, I will post the elements link, plus a preview of the QP. I really am sorry for the mix up.

This is the QP that matches the "Chanukka 2008" kit.

And here is your link for the ELEMENTS. ELEMENTS ELEMENTS

The snow finally changed to some rain and turn a lot of the snow on the ground to slush, which of course would be chunks of ice in no time. Goodie goodie. Moo and a couple of the guys did a fantastic job of cleaning up our yard. I hope the roads are decent because I have to make a quick run to Walmart to pick up one last little thing and then I am all done with the holiday stuff.

While I am there, I need to pick up some more of my favorite sausage patties. They have the best tasting sausage patties I've found anywhere. They also have cranberry english muffins. M-m-m-m. These are seasonal items, and boy are they good.

Here is a photo of the Shaw's parking lot, where I stopped on my way home from work Sunday morning. If I enlarged the picture, you would see all the snow flakes still falling.

...Later in the day.....
The snow finally stopped, but I did not go out to do any errands. Instead, I did some laundry, and Moo did the food shopping for Christmas dinner. I will be working that day so we will have dinner when I get home. It will be a nice little group, Me and Moo, and a few of the dwarfs. It's a good thing none of them has internet and can read this, I don't think they would take too kindly to being called dwarfs. I say, "Too bad, Harry!" (just an old saying)
Moo made us steak tips for supper, and just now brought out slices of the tomato soup cake that he made this afternoon. Oh yum!
Well, it's time for me to get back to my pc work. Have a great night.
Hugs, Edna B.

Want Some Chocolate Pie With Cool Whip?

December 21, 2008

Happy Chanukka everybody, especially Rhoda & Marshall and Edie & family.
Boy, oh boy, oh boy! And the snow keeps falling. Can you believe this? It started around noon on Friday, and it is now 4 pm on Sunday, and the *#@* stuff is still falling. Not just skimpy stuff either! Long range visibility stinks (at least it did this morning).

Poor Moo is exhausted from all the shoveling and cleaning off the cars, over and over again. As soon as he gets in the house and changes his clothes, there's already another inch or two covering everything back up.

I should tell you about the fabulous chocolate pie I made for him on Friday. I was thinking that it would make him feel better after all the shoveling. I made a double batch of the pudding so that I could fill some little pudding dishes too, and was planning on serving it with Cool Whip. Oh my, I could just taste that pie!! I finished it all up and put everything in the fridge to cool and set. A few hours later I took it out to give it to Moo, and OMG!!! It was soupy as can be! Do you believe this? What went wrong?

I finally had to show it to Moo, and of course, he laughed. He said what did you use in this? Milk? Or water? That did it!! I dug the boxes out of the trash, and yup! I thought it said water. But it did not - it said milk. My beautiful graham cracker pie shell was a soggy ruined mess. So much for my good deed that day. I will ty again another day.

Today, as promised, I am going to post my new kit "Chanukka 2008." If you have any suggestions for things to include in next years kit, please let me know. I'm hoping you like this one. So now I'm off to check on what's happening outside here. Have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Snow, Snow, And More Snow!!

December 20, 2008

When I got up this morning, I looked out the window to see how much snow we got overnight. faint! faint! We were not only buried under tons of snow, but during the night the town plows kept piling all the crap from the street right in front of our driveway. This morning it had turn to a frozen pile. Needless to say, no one was getting out of my yard until a plow came along to open up my driveway.

Want to know when the snow plow called yesterday to come and plow us out? He called at midnight. Can you believe it? I told him there was no way I was going to drag all the little dwarfs out of their beds and send them out to move their cars. So he said he's be by in the morning. At 10 am, I called him to get an idea of when he might be coming, and he said most likely late in the day. Again, I had to tell him this was not cool. I needed the yard plowed earlier in the day, because we had to get out and I had to be able to leave for work on time. He came around 1:30 pm.

Of course, through all of this, it is still snowing, and it looks like we might only get one day without snow before Christmas. That will be the day that Tootsie has her beauty salon appointment. she has to get spiffed up so that she looks really nice in her new Christmas dress. She has a pretty red velvet holiday dress this year.

Tomorrow, I'll be posting the "Chanukka 2008" kit, and tonight I'm going to share my two page layout that I made for my Recipe Challenge at Magickal Scraps. It sound delicious, and only has a few calories. YUM! Hope you like it. I used Snow Raven's brand new kit, "Winter Solstice." This is a great kit, and you can buy it at the shop at Magickal Scraps. http://www.magickalscraps.com/.

I'm off to spend some time with my little girl now. Tootsie's been waiting patiently all day for her playtime with Mommy. She's having a tough time with this "tennis ball withdrawal" thing. I feel so bad for her. We haven't figured out yet how to make the new tennis ball resemble the old tennis ball. We wish you a great night.
Hugs, Edna B.

Holidays And New Kits Coming

December 19, 2008

The snow is falling. Oh joy! Oh joy! It took most of the morning to find me a plow driver to arrange for cleanup. In another couple of hours, it's going to be really nasty out there. It will be scenically beautiful, but at my age, scenic beauty isn't as important as comfort and mobility. If we didn't have to go out at all, I would actually like the snow.

Tomorrow night will be the beginning of Chanukka and Winter Solstice, and Wednesday night is Christmas Eve. I will be posting a Chanukka kit for you this weekend, and a Christmas kit next weekend. Snow Raven will be posting a brand new Winter Solstice kit in the store at Magickal Scraps.

We have new faces and names popping up in the Magickal Scraps forum. Please come visit and meet all the new members and see all the great challenges that are posted every month. Another great feature is the Daily Download. Every day, several pieces are posted and at the end of the month, you will have a beautiful Mega kit. And all for free. If you miss the kit, you can always buy it later in the Magickal Scraps Store.

Poor Moo is outdoors battling the snow. He sweeps and shovels it up, and it just keeps on falling. I think maybe I should go out and offer to help. He will most likely just tell me to go back in the house. I will have to clean off my car too. That will be an ongoing thing until the storm is over.

Today I thought I would give you a sneak peek at the new Chanukka kit that you will be getting over the weekend. Here's hoping you like it. Have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Possum And A Blizzard

December 18, 2008

Well we almost got the new roof finished today. The roofing crew ran into just a teeny little snag. It seems a rather large Ms. Possum had made herself a nice comfy home beneath the rafters (or somewhere in there), and was absolutely not coming out for anybody. So there we are. The next best solution was to finish all but her little corner, and come back after the wildlife control people had been over to get her out. So now we are waiting for a call back from the wildlife control.

To make matters just a bit more interesting, the weather man has been telling us to expect up to 12 inches of snow tomorrow between noon and 8 p.m. Now isn't that special! Not only do we have a huge blizzard bearing down on us, but there is more snow forecasted for the next few days. This is one of those times when I certainly hope the weather man is wrong.

The good news is that at least my computer seems to be working okay now. I won't say any more on that subject or it just might come back and bite me. Tootsie is sitting here looking up at me as if to say "Are you ever gonna get off that dumb computer?" Her friend Kaline (Nani's kitty kat) sent her condolences re the dying ball. She's been down that road too, and knows the heartbreak involved. Thank you Kaline.

If any of you knows how to revive a dying, mostly all bald tennis ball that is almost totally split in two, please let us know. We can't tape it because Tootsie might chew the tape off and get sick. Glue is out of the question too. Although Tootsie might feel a bit better after sniffing the glue for a few minutes. Oh my! Did I say that? My bad.

Time for me to leave you for tonight. If I'm not back for a day or two, it just means that I'm plumb wore out fighting all the snow. I have a layout to share with you tonight. I made it for the Click Challenge at Magickal Scraps. This month the challenge was for us to go out and photograph Christmas lights. I didn't have a chance to get out to do this so I used the photos I took last winter. Hope you like it. Have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Little Computer Snags

December 17, 2008

Sorry about no post last night, but Wayne was by to help me to resurrect my favorite music playing program. After a couple of hours, we had to call it quits. it seems that Yahoo bought out the program company (or something like that) and unless I go for the absolute newest version, nne of the others will run on my computer. I tried the newest version, but it was so completely different from anything I had ever seen, I decided against it. Now I have to deal with Windows Media Player until I find another program that I like.

Yeesh!! The trials and tribulations of trying to remain computer literate. After all was said and done, I was too pooped to pop, so I turned in early. My brandee new teenie weenie camcorder that I order for myself arrived yesterday, and Wayne tried to show me how to use it with the computer. Time will tell if anything he showed me sank into my brain. Gosh, though, it's the cutest little camcorder I ever did see. And it's pink!!

This afternoon, I've been trying to wrap up all the loose ends for the January Daily Dowloads for Magickal Scraps, but for some reason, my computer decided to do a crazy blitzy thing. All of a sudden it decided that I had corrupt program files, and wouldn't let me do any more work until I did a disk check. So there went another hour. At the moment, all seems to be okay, and I hope it stays that way.

Because of all the bad weather, we had to put a hold on repairing the roof. We've been having lots of rain and snow, and you can't climb around on the roof in this weather. Tomorrow is supposed to be our only nice day for a while, so the roofing crew is going to try to do the job tomorrow. Maybe when I get home from work tomorrow afternoon, I'll get a nice surprise.

I finished a new layout for the "ABC Letter D" challenge at Magickal Scraps. It features my very first grandchild, who is now a grown man. "Bob-O'Link" was such a cutie, and I was trying out new lenses for my Polaroid Camera. This one was for taking double exposures in one shot. Hope you like it.

One of my favorite programs is coming on soon, and I have to finish up a couple more things before I close up sjhop. Have a great night.
Hugs, Edna B.

My Tree Of Life Project

December 15, 2008

I just got quite a shock for myself. I looked up at the calendar for a moment, and oh my gosh!!! It says that today is the 15th!! Can you believe it? The 15th!

I don't know about you, but this time flying by thingy is getting way out of hand. Christmas is ten days away, and the new year starts in seventeen days. This is not funny. How can I ever get caught up with all my things with time going by faster and faster. Maybe I'll just drop a few things off my list "to do" and that will catch me up quicker.

I've spent the last three days working on my two page chat room project for Magickal Scraps. Tonight I will share it with you. It's amazing how many different hats we wear in just one short lifetime. I know there are a lot of things missing from my "Tree of Life, " but the tree was beginning to groan and grumble under the weight of all the things that I hung on it.

Page one of the project is my Tree of Life, on which I have hung symbols representing different things in my life. Page two will explain the symbols that I have used. If it looks a little bit cluttery and claustrophobic, then that's me in a nutshell.

I'm leaving now to eat my dinner while it's hot. Moo and one of dwarfs cooked a lovely pork roast, and all the trimmings. M-m-m-m. Oh, it smells so good! You have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Where Does BAA Meet?

December 14, 2008

I stopped at the supermarket this morning on my way home from work. Guess what? They weren't open yet. Rather than sit in the parking lot for half an hour, I just went on home. Maybe tomorrow I'll have better luck.

Well last night at work, while my little lady was sleeping, I did manage to get quite a lot done on my laptop. I've been trying to finish up my share of the January daily downloads for Magickal Scraps. All I have left to do is the previews, tuck them in folders, and zip them up and send them to storage for links. I feel so much better now.

I'll have a new Chanukka kit for you in a few days, and then will come a new Christmas kit. After that, I have to get busy on some new stuff. But first, the dreaded TAXES! I just need to make sure everything is in one place, and all totalled up. Then I can breath easy until it's time to visit my accountant.

I did finish up a new layout with Snow Raven's new kits, "Christmas Glory 1 & 2," and a matching QP for you, which I will post today. The featured photo is this year's homemade Christmas card. It's an annual family production. I get one every year, and they are just adorable. I sure hope you like it.

Poor Tootsie is going into ball withdrawal. Her beloved, dirty, bald, spitty tennis ball has finally split open almost all the way. Just a few more tosses will finish it off. It makes a funny "splat" sound when it hits the floor, and can't really bounce anymore. We have tried other balls, but she doesn't want them.

Uncle Moo got her a new tennis ball, but even that just wasn't the same. I don't know what she will do when the ball finally falls apart into two pieces. I tried rubbing spit from the old ball on to the new ball, but it didn't work. I wonder if there's a "Balls Anonymous" group around here somewhere. (BAA)

I think I should get ready for bed now. I'm getting slaphappy. Tonight's another work night, and then I'm off for a few days. Woo hoo. (I'm getting excited just thinking about it!) Have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Still Playing Catch Up

December 13, 2008

Wow, what a nice surprise. Hummie has come to see me, and now I feel like I've actually climbed up a few pegs in the scrapping world. She is a very well known and talented lady in this world of scraps. Please visit her site and say hello. There are so many interesting things to see and do on her page, that you will be there a while. http://blog.hummiesworld.com/.

Today I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that I don't have Snow Raven's QP ready for you yet. The good news is that I will give you one that I made with my Cactus Sunset kit. I'm still playing catch up with my PC projects. Life keeps trying to slow me down - you know, the house, the job, people, and of course little Tootsie wants her share of my time too. Ah, well, we'll get there.

As for no blog posting last night, what can I say. I worked late, hit a ton of traffic on the way home, rushed in the house to get Tootsie (can't come home without hugging and kissing her) and raced to turn on the computer. Then of course, I had to check out my roofing "bad news." It looks like I'm going to have to dig up my money bush out back sooner than I wanted to. I wonder if it's still blooming.

By now, I was late for the Chat on Magickal Scraps, but better late than not at all. It was an interesting chat, and the project that Snow Raven had planned for us to do was also very interesting. We have to do a two page layout centered around a "Tree of Life." (Our own tree of life) So far, I'm almost finished with page one. When it's finished, I'll share it here.

For Mrs. Manfink, yes Rho, that certainly was your delightful Mr with Mr B on the holiday layout. It's one of my favorite photos. I'm so glad that your Mr liked it.

If any of you wants to get some beautiful holiday freebies, hop on the "Christmas Around The World" blog train. It's awesome, and it's HUGE! If you download, don't forget to say thank you to all those wonderful folks who make up the train. Here's the link for the CATW site: http://christmasaroundtheworldkit.blogspot.com/.

It's time now for me to have dinner and get ready for work. Maybe I'll get a lot of my PC stuff done tonight. That would certainly be nice. Have a great evening.

Hugs, Edna B.

Exquisite New Layout

December 11, 2008

We're running out of year, and I have so much left to do. Oh my. Thank goodness for the TV shopping channels. Not only do they have a good price, but they will ship directly to the recipient, saving you from paying two shipping charges. Today I managed to get one more gift bought, and except for a couple of doo dads, I think I'm done with my holiday shopping. Yippee!!

Next I have to finish up two or three kits, and then the big dreaded thing will be here. TAX TIME. Here's where I make an exception about using the "H" word. I hate doing the taxes and finding all my receipts and bills and little slips of paper. I know, I know. Put them all in one place during the year, and all will be well at the end of the year. Well, I tried. I really really did try. Most everything landed in the designated envelopes. But unfortunately, some have managed to go astray. Maybe next year I'll do better. (I've been saying that all my adult life.)

Today I made a layout for the ABC Challenge at Magickal Scraps. This one is for the letter E. I haven't done the letter D yet, but I'll do that one next. I have a photo of my youngest granddaughter that just called out to be the letter E. The photo was taken of her four years ago picking apples, and she is just exquisite. The kit I used is Snow Raven's "Celtic Magic - Earth."

Moo has just informed me that we have a leak coming from one of the roofs. Not good news to be sure. But now I must go find out just what he is talking about. You have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Today It Finaly Happened

December 10, 2008

Oh boy! It finally happened!! All my years of taking care of our fragile elderly are finally coming home. I went to the post office today to mail some holiday packages, and on my way out, a young lady was coming in. She smiled at me and held the door open and said "You first, Sweetie." I laughed so much at first, and then the sadness settled in. I'm now finally a LITTLE OLD LADY!!!!!

To top it all off, there are some nice folks in the scrapping world who call me "Mum." I guess it's my destiny. I suppose though, it wouldn't be proper to be living here with eight little dwarfs, plus Grumpy Dwarf, unless I really was a little old Mum. So be it!

I've been working on my water globe some more, and I definitely need some help. If any of you knows how to make the glass globe look like a glass globe, please let me know. I've made another layout that I will share. This one was made for my dear friends Rhoda and Marshall.

For many, many years, Marsh was my "main Santa" on Christmas Eve, as long as it didn't fall on Friday. If it did, Marsh would join us later in the evening, and Santa #2 (Moo) would do the honors on that night. One year, one daughter could not to our house on Christmas eve with her children, so Santa #3 (our friend Bill) made a special trip to her house. In the early years, my son Jr even had a turn being Santa when the big fellow got tied up somewhere.

Santa has even made hospital trips and random drives up and down neighborhoods to wave at little children peeking out their windows. What a thrill it would be to see the look in their surprised eyes. Santa lives on, and I will always believe.

I have to leave now. My program, "Top Chef" is coming on in a few minutes. Have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Calling All Designers And Learners

December 9, 2008

Well, we've had our first snow, and by today, most all the white stuff was gone. I'm sure there will be more soon enough. Tootsie and I were awake bright and early this morning, but only got up long enough for her to make her potty stop, and then right back to bed and under those very warm comforters. We were watching the shopping channels, and having a grand time ooohing and aaahing. Then all of a sudden there it was. The perfect present for my son and daughter in law. (No I can't tell you. It's a surprise for them.) So I called up, and voila!! Presents on the way to kids, just like that. Wow, do I love shopping this way.

This afternoon, daughter in law, Janet, came over and I told her about a gorgeous shirt on QVC. Did she like it? She loved it. Ring, ring, may I take your order? Just like that, another gift all taken care of. This could become addicting. Actually, I love watching their electronics show. By watching them, I have learned most everything I know about computers and teckie toys. They explain so much and show you exactly what they are talking about. It's not only enjoyable, it's very educational.

Snow Raven is putting out the call for more designers, and designers-to-be. If you already design and want your own store, or if you are just learning to design, this could be perfect for you. I will put up her posters now, and take my leave to go play on my PC. I haven't been on it all day until now. Have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

First Attempt At A Snow Globe

December 8, 2008

What a boring, cold day today was. I think the cold weather made me sleepy, and took away all my creativity. Gosh, I really do dislike strongly the cold weather. (I try not to use the word "hate." It's such a strong word.) After several attempts to create something decent, I took my blankee and my pillow, and curled up on the floor in front of the fireplace to have me a little nap. I got a few winks, but it didn't really do the trick.

Tonight, Moo baked us a surprise for dessert - Tomato Soup Cake. M-m-m-m-m! The only thing missing was the cool whip. Next time. If you didn't get the recipe when it was posted here, check my archives for November 2.

This month's technique challenge at Magickal Scraps calls for a layout with a snow globe in it. There are also some tutorial links put up Snow Raven to help us make the glass globe. This would be really neat if I can do it. After a few hours, I finally came up with a couple, one of which I will share with you tonight.

So now I'm off to find some warm jammies, and Tootsie and I (much to her chagrin) are going to curl up in bed early and watch some TV. Who knows.....I just might make some hot cocoa too.

Oh wow, now I'm getting ready to drool. I'll just have to make the cocoa. Till tomorrow, have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Designated Ball Retriever

December 7, 2008

The only thing I've accomplished today is a load of laundry. I play on the computer, but I just can't seem to get very creative. Maybe I'll just take a break until tomorrow. Tonight is a working night anyway, so I wouldn't have a lot of time left today for playing.

I think Tootsie thinks she's a hunting dog. A pointer, maybe. She bats her ball under a chair, or behind something, and then she will stand for hours with her nose pointing at it, until someone comes along to retrieve the ball. I tell her to go get the ball, but she just stands and points. So unless I learn some "Woof Language", I must remain the designated ball retriever for now.

Tootsie is also a very picky eater, as I've mentioned before. However, in the last couple of days, she has actually eaten some Alpo and Mighty Dog. Her regular dinners are expensive, and we throw a lot of them out, so I thought we might try some different ones. So far, it's working out pretty good. Now I just have to find out what the calorie content is of all the new stuff.

For those of you who stopped by to visit Miss Audrey's new blog page, I want to thank you. It really meant so much to her. This afternoon, she was working on a new project, but I'm sure she'll let you know all about it soon.

Before I go, I will share a new layout that I made for the Life Journaling challenge at Magicakal Scraps. It features things that we do in the few weeks before Christmas. First, we put up a tree in the den to get the atmosphere charged with Holiday spirit. Next, we dig out gifts and boxes for mailing to loved ones out of state. That's as far as I got with this layout. Enjoy and have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Dwarfs, New Blog & A New QP

December 6, 2008

Did I ever tell you about Boystown? Well, many many years, my hubby and I decided that the only way to be able to hang on to his great big old house was to rent out rooms. Obviously, we would take in men only. I'm not nuts enough to want lots of little chickies running in and out of the house with their tiny little tempting outfits on.
No, we would be better off with men. There are so many of them - divorced, separated, and just plain homeless, needing a place to live. The house was named "Boystown" and for the most part, it has worked out fairly well.

So today, I have my hubby's legacy for me -- Miss Edna and the eight little dwarfs and one grumpy old painter. They get the big old house, and I get the tiny little apartment in the back. This odd little group keeps me on my toes, helps to keep the bills paid, and there is never a dull day here. One very nice thing is that they all love Tootsie, and treat her well.

This past week, our dear grumpy old painter put up the Christmas Tree, and then we hung lots of candy canes on it because the eight little dwarfs all have a sweet tooth. Every year, Santa finds our scrawny little tree, and puts lots of goodies under it for everyone.

Today, I want to share a brand new blog with all of you. Miss Audrey has just started a brand new blog. See her link on the right side of my page (Dyani of Virginia), and drop by and visit with her. Don't forget to leave a "hello" for her. http://dyaniofva.blogspot.com/.

Before I sign off for the day, I will post your freebie. It's the QP that I made with Snow Raven's new kits "Merry Xmas" and "Jingle's World." Enjoy, and have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

New Friends, New Projects

December 4, 2008

Didn't do much today. When I work at night, the next day is usually a lazy day. I did a little bit of shopping on the way home from work. Picked up some more spring water (I drink a lot of that), some more doggie food, and a few odd and ends for the house.

Tonight I want to share a lovely new award that was presented to me by my very sweet and talented friend, Kyra. http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com/. The Leaves of Friendship Award. My heart feels nice and warm because of all my wonderful friends in the scrapping world, and especially Miss Kyra. I do have to pass it on to five other scrapper friends.

So my list will be:

Before, I leave I think I would also like to share some good news. Kyra, of "With A Russian-Dutch Heart," has decided to join our Daily Download Design Team at Magickal Scraps. This is great news for all of you because she designs some really awesome kits. Her background papers are exquisite. Don't forget to drop by every day and browse the forum, and pick up your free daily download. Check out the challenges, and maybe join in and have some fun with us.

Time for me to turn in early now. Tomorrow morning is a workday, and 5:30 am comes awful early. Have a good night.

Hugs, Edna B.

A New Layout To Share

December 3, 2008

Well, today has certainly flown by rather quickly. This morning, I did some shopping, then tried to catch up on my emails and blog visits. What a lovely surprise I got when I stopped by to visit at Kyra's blog. There was a lovely award waiting there for me. I will post it tomorrow as I need to think about who I will pass it on to.

Meanwhile, someone is not feeling very well, so I will have to work tonight. That means you're lucky, I can only chat for a few moments. I only have a couple of hours to finish the laundry, tend to some supper, and play with Tootsie.

I do, however, have a new layout to share with you. This was made with Snow Raven's new kit "Merry Xmas" plus I borrowed a couple of the Jingle dolls from her kit, "Jingle's World." If you're really really good, you can have the matching QP this weekend.

I'm off now. Have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Good Night For Old Home Movies

December 2, 2008

Before I start chatting, I want to let you know that we have a brand new Daily Download Kit, "Festive Season" at Magickal Scraps. So be sure to stop by and take a look. It's a mega kit, and it's gorgeous. http://www.magickalscraps.com/.

We got another fuel delivery today, so now we get to see well how the new furnace does, and if it's an oil gobbler. I'll keep all fingers and toes crossed and hope it's not very thirsty. Although, I must say, the cost isn't as scary as it was last winter. That in itself is a blessing. We'll see.

Tonight, Tootsie and I are going to watch some old family holiday movies that we had taped, and now my son has been converting to DVD for me. It should be fun, because some of the people in the movies aren't with us anymore, and it will be nice seeing them again.

I have a photo to share with you, that I took a few days ago. I was looking out a window, and this blue jay saw me and quickly flew off, but not before I snapped his picture.

I really hope Santa has a terrific new lens in his big bag with my name on it. One that takes really fantastic close-ups. Ah, well, I can dream, can't I?

Has anybody tried those cleansing pads that you put on your feet at night, and while you sleep, they drain all the toxins out of your body? While shopping the other day, I saw a box of them so I figured "Why not?" and I bought them. I've only tried them for two nights, but each morning when the pad came off, it was dark gray colored. So I guess it's working. Wouldn't it be nice if they could come up with one that you put on your body at night, and it would eat up all the fat while you snoozed?

I think I better quit while I'm ahead. Have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Two New Awards

December 1, 2008

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Audrey! Who'da thunk looking at those adorable golden curls and pretty blue eyes, that today you'd be out tromping through the woods with your trusty gun trying to scrounge up something for dinner. Not only that, you'll mount whatever you catch, (after you've eaten the meat, of course) and use it for a door stop or a corner display.

Not me, I tell you. Each of my four eldest children chose totally different careers than I would have thought of for them, and each did them very well.

Moo just came in tell me to turn on channel 2 (PBS), and watch the Four Aces singing "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing." After 50 years, they still sound good. The program is a special on Love Songs of the 50's & 60's. Oh my, now Bobby Darin is singing "Dream Lover." It's a tape, of course, because he still looks like a teenager. No gray hair and wrinkles like the rest of us.

I have been given two beautiful awards that I would like to share with you. First is the "Treasured Friends Forever" Award. This was given to me by:

Kyra at http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com/ and
Bonnie at http://bonniecarter.blogspot.com/

Please visit their blogs and see all the wonderful things they've created for you. Now I want to pass this on to five other treasured scrapper friends.

Snow Raven at http://silversnowyraven.blogspot.com/
Shannon at http://ladyshannonmemoriesmadeeasy.blogspot.com/
Davonna at http://chroniclesofnani.blogspot.com/
Shawna at http://scrap-stuff-with-psp.blogspot.com/
Anna at http://deliciousscraps.blogspot.com/

The second award, "This Blog Has A Heart," was given to me by Bonnie, aka, The Maltese Scrapper. This is very touching, Bonnie, and I'm feeling pretty special. Thank you. So now I think I will pass this on to the same five people I've already listed above, plus I need to add one more name. My special friend, Kyra at http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com/.

So now, my friends, I'm going to say good night, and finish watching this wonderful program on the TV. Oh lordy, some of these old songs are just so beautiful. Have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.
