Listening To The Rain

August 5, 2021

Good morning.  It is raining!  Woo Hoo!  We needed this rain.  There is a metal awning over my living room windows, so all you hear is tap, tap, tap, tap.  Dancing raindrops.

I dug out my pattern book for the baby cocoons and decided to make a set to match the last baby blanket that I made.  These will be for the new baby coming in February.  Here is a picture of the covers of the pattern book.

I'm making the pink set shown on the cover.  Here's a photo of the first set I made some years ago.

I have the cocoon about three quarters done.  Hopefully, I'll have the whole set finished by the weekend..  I'll take a photo when the whole set is done.  Then I should get back to working on the pocket wraps.

I found another copy of "Learn How To Crochet In Just One Day" on Ebay, so I ordered it for my cousin Anita.  I think it will help her with her crocheting too.  Gosh, life would be so much easier if we could all just get together.  Ah well, this will have to do.

Yesterday's TV ware was really good.  A whole day of Blue Bloods.  I love those TV marathons when they run my favorite shows.

As we get older, we often start thinking about getting rid of a lot of the things that we've collected over the years.  Sometimes this can be a very daunting project.  I found this adorable cartoon that says it like it is.  Hahahaha.  Enjoy.

Now I'm off to make a cup of coffee and settle in for some blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

That is such a cute baby cocoon that you made years ago. Oh boy, talk to me about getting rid of stuff. ha! I had to clear my parent's house last year and that gave me incentive to start clearing some of my stuff out of my house. Of course it's slow going but I do continue to persevere:) At least I try not to accumulate more.

Yes Edna, the rainfall is lovely today in NH as well, Edna. Just a steady rainfall vs. torrential one. The baby cocoon looks very cosy and should keep baby very warm and comfortable. I like the colors on the one you made previously. The cartoon was a funny one.

I love that cartoon, reminds me of someone I know who has a shed full of old electrical equipment which he's convinced will be valuable one day! Those baby cocoons must be good - all those babies on the cover of the pattern book and not a single one crying!

A bit of rain is good. No need to water the plants.
What a lovely set it will be for the new baby! Te cocoons look so sweet!(love the one like a brown bear or is it a big mouse? hahaha)
Oh, sometimes marathons from favourite tv programs are great!
You're so nice to buy that booklet for your cousin Anita.
Don;t tell me about collecting things. We ALL do, more or less.
And it is a good thing to get rid of a part, give it away or sell or whatever. It takes so much place in the house(and also dust).

Have a fabulous day,
Hugs

The baby cocoons are very cute! Yes, getting rid of stuff is a never-ending project. It's amazing how quickly things pile up even when you don't buy much.

Edna,

I just had to comment on that last cartoon. Grandma always told me that someday it's going to be mine and my brother's job to clean up all of and the stuff she doesn't feel like cleaning out. I remember the first weekend that we went to clean out the house after her passing. My brother and I with both of our spouses and his daughters, stepson and stepdaughter and her husband were helping to clean up things at grandma's house. We were all standing in front of the garage when my brother opened the door. You could've heard a pin drop because even the animals running around in the woods must've stopped. I swear, that garage looked exactly like that cartoon!

I was the first one who said anything and that was a loud whisper for everyone to "listen. Can you hear grandma laughing?"

We inherited a garage like that. But oh those boxes had some wonderful old things in them. I photographed the corsage my grandfather bought my grandmother on the day they eloped. I also took a picture of tax forms from 1953!

Thanks for the fun memory!

Hugs, Nani

Those baby cocoons are so cute. I will have to look into it since I am expecting a new great-grandson in December. Isn't that cartoon the truth. My sister always says we spend the first half of our life getting things and the second half getting rid of things. Have a great day!
