A Gender Reveal

August 15, 2021

Good morning.  Oh my, today is starting out soooo gorgeous!  It's sunny with a light breeze.  The temperature is 71F degrees and headed for eighty degrees.  It's been wicked warm, so today is like a gift.  I went out earlier and watered my plants.  Then I just stayed out there for a while breathing in all that wonderful cool air.

Yesterday my granddaughter Mia (expecting first baby in February) had a gender reveal party.  IT'S A GIRL!!  Next I'll have to wait until Mia and Jarod decide on a name for this precious new baby.  Of course, I'll post it as soon as I know.

Yesterday, I felt like working on something new for a while so I started a shell stitch baby blanket.  It's a new pattern to me and I had to make a few adjustments to make it the size that I want.  After several hours of ripping it out and starting over, I finally got a few rows done.   I'm using "Iced Sugar" yarn by Hobby Lobby.

I woke up a few times during the night,  One of those times, I pulled on the chain to the ceiling fan to change the speed and whoops!  I broke the chain.  It put the fan on the fasted speed and the chain flew up and around the light globe beneath the fan blades.

This is not good.  I am not about to climb on my little ladder to try to fix the fan.  Nope, I don't need to be falling.  So I left the fan spinning away at top speed.  Finally, I figured out how to get the chain down off the globe by using a grabber.  I have this marvelous invention, but I never think to use it.  It worked!   Here's a picture of a grabber for those of you that might not know what I mean.  Mine is yellow and black and just a wee bit different.

Gosh, I haven't had my breakfast or any coffee yet and I'm already getting tired.  But then, I have done a few things already.  Watered the plants, washed my hair, got my banking stuff ready, chatted with a couple of the dwarfs, took a photo of my crocheting and spent a little time outdoors.  Hmmm, that's like a whole day for me.

I want to explain something about the comments left on my blog.  Normally, they go into a folder and once or twice a day I look at them to make sure there is no spam, and they are posted.  Yesterday, I changed that.  Now they will get posted immediately.  At least until the spam starts building up again, then I'll change it back.

Now I want to get something to eat and make a cup of coffee.  It's been too hot to have it lately, so I've been drinking water with my breakfast.  Then I'm off to read some blogs.  Before I go, let me share this adorable picture that I borrowed from the web.  This is for all us older gals.

So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Bravo for getting the fan working again! A grabber is a useful tool, I guess. Maybe I should get one too?

Congrats to Mia and Jarrod on their daughter-to-be.

I knew your comments were being moderated -- when I complained about comments not showing up on some blogs I didn't mean yours. :) But maybe you'll like this method of dealing with comments. I don't moderate mine (on posts newer than five days old) and just delete any spam that comes through.

Congratulations to you, Mia, Jarrod and all of the family. I've got a new baby in my extended family of friends, Madilyn who was born last week. Love the yarn you're using. We have Dairy Queens, too, but fortunately they're not in walking distance. Otherwise I might be there every day, too. Have a great day!

Oh I hear you about 'busy' at this age ~ Everything takes more time and effort and heat makes it more difficult ~ You are doing great and I agree a day in the 70's with a breeze is a real gift!

Wow! blanket is awesome ~ so pretty and congrats on Gender reveal ~ and that is a handy gadget to have for sure ~ Xo ~ Happy Week to you.

Congrats for all the family to the new born girl to come.
I love the blanket you are making with this yarn and it goes well with the shell stitch.

Gosh, you were busy today already, perhaps later today you take it a bit easy?

Good you could get grip of the chain(those grabbers are fantastic things, we have one too). And no, of course you shouldn;t climb a ladder or whatever. But can you still reach the chain now or is there repair necessary? May be, if so, Eddie can come to have a look at it?

I am glad to sit down now after dinner, the garden work became more as I thought of and I feel a bit the back.

Have a lovely day,
Hugs

Congratulations to Mia and Jarod!
I think my mother once crocheted a blanket using that shell-stitch pattern.
