Fun At The Fair

August 28, 2019

Good morning.  My goodness, it is almost noon.  I was up early this morning, took my meds, fed Pogo and prepared the peppers for cooking later.  Then, for some reason, I was so tired that I went back to bed for a few more winks.

The package of peppers is called "Stoplight Peppers."  One red pepper, one yellow and one green.  This is good because some folks, like my DIL Janet, cannot eat the green peppers (they upset her stomach) but she can eat the red ones.   I made sure to put all the seeds into marked baggies.  I'll dry them out and maybe some of them can be planted next year.  We'll see.

Last week the Marshfield Fair was here.  I don't get to go anymore, too much walking for me.  But the younger folks in the family get to go and have a wonderful time.  If there's something fun out there to do, Randi is going to make sure the kids get to do it.  She's an awesome mother.  Here are some photos she sent us from the Fair last week.

In photo #1, Jazzy has a big teddy bear.  Photo #2, Jazzy, Lilah and Jack ride the swings.  In Photo #3, Alima has a big spotted dog.  Photo #4 is Lilah, Alima, Jazzy and Randi.  And in Photo #5 we have Jack, Lilah, Jazzy and Alima.   Ah, the joys of youth and childhood. And two generations, my grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Right up until his last few years, Michael and I would go to the Brockton Fair every year.  And each year, we had our photo taken at a little booth called "Photos By Scotty."  For a while, we had them hanging all through the house.  You could walk around and see us age (gracefully).  After a while, we narrowed them down to just two or three photos hanging on the walls.  The rest were put away.

Oh dear, today there have been several ads on TV for Olive Garden Restaurant, and they keep showing Fettuccini Alfredo, Lasagna and Spaghetti.  Groan, groan, groan, don't they know how much I love these foods?  I can figure out  a lasagna and spaghetti sauce that I can have, but I'll have to really work on the Alfredo sauce thing.  That's going to be a bit more tricky.

I'll be a bit late with my blog reading today.  Deanne will be here in a little while, and I want to spend time with her before she has to go to work.  Just before her car gets to the front of our driveway, Pogo will be over by the storm door, dancing and barking with delight to greet her.

I'm off now to go through all my mail, mostly junk mail.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I am just waking up again also. I was up early to give my babies their breaksfast and potty break and I went back to bed and just waking up in time to prepare lunch and give them another outside potty break. I am sleeping a lot these days. It must be from the hot weather. I did have my chicken in a brine since yesterday evening and now I have my last batch in the deep fryer. I am cooking broccoli again for the veggies. My son probably think I doesn't know it but the green peas was never eaten but put back in the container in the refrigerator. Now I am going to have to throw them out because they were really a rewarm and it's not safe to keep warming and cooling the same food. Oh yes, the olive garden advertisement will make you hungry. Their food look so good but I doesn't think I've ever eaten any food from there. I am not a person who like to eat out but their food do look yummy. Your peppers are sounding great. Have a good day....you and Pogo

I am hungry every time I visit you. Perhaps you will share your spaghetti sauce recipe here too. :-)
Alfredo, oh goodness, I love it. I tried making a low fat version but too blah. My niece Karla says the trick is garlic and spices. It is hard to get away from the heavy cream. Sigh...
Love the photos from the fair. You have such a delightful phamily. Enjoy your time with your daughter and now I am hungry for stuffed peppers. I must hunt down the recipe Jeremy gave me. Hmmmm....it was low fat and delightful, My hubby needs the sodium, I do not! This VP Shunt business is tricky stuff. Too much sodium, migraine headaches. UGH!
I hope you and Pogo enjoy your day, LOVE and HUGS

We visited our county fair this Saturday, to be truthful it had been fifteen years since I last went. We have the best county fair in the nation, or so voted, but it has become way too big for me, and walking around is a problem with weak ankles.
That is one huge teddy bear !
I love the Olive Garden food, but I know it's loaded with calories, all the heavy creamed sauces etc, I try to eat there maybe twice a year :)
Your peppers sound delicious !
Hugs,

Hi Edna, Those spotlight peppers would be delicious. I have not been able to attend the fair in years but I always loved it. The food was always a treat, too! Thanks for sharing your family via photos. Looks like everyone had a great time.
Wishing you and Pogo a good night.
