Eating Can Be A Challenge

August 20, 2019

Good morning.  It's a lovely day here in New England.  The sun is shining and the temperature is 77F degrees.  Today's highs should get up around ninety degrees.  The weather app on my phone says we have rain coming the next three days, but somehow I just don't believe it.

Yesterday afternoon we had storm warnings.  There was a lot of rain and wind headed our way.  Well, the sun went in, the sky was gray, and I waited for the rain.  It took a while, but eventually all forty four raindrops got here.  Around seven o'clock the storm had passed and the sun came out again.  Just in time to go back in for the night.

The day was uneventful here.  Pogo and I just snuggled and napped a lot all day.  When I first took my blood pressure reading, it was quite low.  I looked it up on Google and it said to eat something with salt in it.  So I did.  I had me a tasty microwave meal with a good amount of salt in it.  After a while I took my blood pressure reading again and it was much better.

I guess I just did too good a job of watching my salt intake and went below the necessary amount.  I learn something new every day.  Now I will have to make sure that I get at least enough salt in my food every day.

The doctor's office called with my lab results and my kidneys are okay, but I will most likely have to go for periodical labs to keep an eye on them.  I'll have to be careful to drink enough liquids each day, but not go over my quota.  Eating is becoming a challenge.

The mailman just came and brought me a new batch of catalogues and junk mail.  I've added this to yesterday's batch.  My project today will be to go through it all and get rid of most of it.  I'm feeling better today and if it keeps up, I'll try to fill another bag this afternoon for the Good Will.

I found an image on the web that looks just like my very first computer.  It was so much easier to use than today's machines.

My friend Beth sent me a beautiful scrap page that I thought I would share.  Thank you Beth, I love it.  It's all about spending cherished time with our daughters.

Before I go let me share a cute thought that I found on the web.  Somehow this seems to fit me most every day.  hahaha.

Now I'm off to catch up on some blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

No, it's not good to take all the salt out of your diet. I watch my intake but I have to have salt on my food, sugar in my coffee and I got rid of a lot of medications that the doctor didn't seem to want to let go. I am eliminating a small amount at a time. (lol) I was on fluid pills and I don't build fluid, so I told the doctor I quit taking them. A blood pressure medicine (amlodipine) is suppose to cause cancer. I stopped taking it and a lot more of the meds. I am still on my predisone (steroids) and only because of my autoimmune disease. Sometimes I think and always say, the doctors are working with the drug stores and they all are making money at our expense. They told me not to eat bananas, but after I ate some, left the fluid pills alone, I am not cramping like it was. I always thought fruits and veggies were the best food for you but if you listen to the doctor they will tell you not to eat them. I think it's so you can really get sick. (lol) We have to know our bodies and what we can do and can't do. I watch my portions of food, but I've never been a person to gain a lot of weight. I assume because I can't eat very much. You are doing great in knowing and taking care of yourself. We have to care about ourselves because as of today, my kidney doctor called me yesterday and said he wouldn't be in today. I just said oh well, I guess I am doing okay and if you send me an appointment, I am not going. Same as with the eye doctor. When I get there, they tell me she won't be in today. So far I guess she never came in because she never sent me another appointment. (lol) I won't be going back to her again either. I will only be interested in keeping this autoimmune disease in remission and I am leaving these folks alone. Keep taking good care of yourself and Pogo. Have a great day and we have to give it to God. He has blessed us, awaken us, and took care of us this long.

Haha Edna, I love that first computer. Mine was exactly like that. Wow they were really popular in our day!! I also love the last one that said having plans was good until you had to put on your clothes to leave the house. Believe it or not that happened to me today....

I am glad that you enjoyed the scrap page. I have always loved that photo of you and your girls and I had a perfect frame for it and I tried it and liked it... :)

I am off to read a few more blogs and hopefully I will feel up to posting on my own. I am having a couple of bad days. Love to you and Mr. Pogo. Love, Beth and Foxy says "Woof" xxxx

I cut out added salt many years ago but still get plenty in the foods I buy. It takes practice and it sounds like you are doing great! Love the scrapbook page:) Snuggle in and enjoy your time inside dear friend, HUGS!

Love those scrapbooking pages. I also love the fun humor you shared. Getting dressed and out the door, hahaha. I am dressed but thinking my bed might be my best friend for an hour. Keep up the great work you are doing regarding all the sodium. It is frustrating. HUGS xo
