Good morning. It's almost 4:30 a.m. and I'm not sleeping yet. But it's my own fault. I did the unthinkable last evening and started reading a book. I know better than to do that at night. Putting a bookmark in place and setting the book down is really hard to do once I get into the story.
I did try. I set the book down once and tried to go to sleep, but it just didn't work. So I got up and finished reading the whole book. I have lots of e-books on my tablet, but there's just something comforting about holding a paper book in your hand while you read.
The weather seems to be changing these next few days. According to the weather app on my phone, temps will be in the seventies and low eighties. Hmmm, does this mean that the wicked high temps are gone? That would be nice.
Here are two more of the photos that I dug out last Friday evening. The first is a Blue Jay. They may be pesky birds, but they really are beautiful. The second photo is pink roses from my garden.
I had really hoped to get out to the park more often this summer to take photos, but so far it's not happening. Between the heat and my breathing problems, it just wasn't in the cards for me. However, with the temperatures cooling down a bit, maybe Pogo and I will be able to take a couple trips to the park before Summer is over. This would be nice.
I did take a few photos of my Mint Julep Rose a couple days ago. It's a beautiful lemony yellow.
Deanne stopped by yesterday for a while before going to work, and she brought me another spinach pizza. I'll try my luck cooking pizza again later in the week. She also brought me a couple fruit bowls, one of which I ate last night. Yum, Yum!
As for my new laptop, I'm almost ready to get serious about using it more often. My old laptop and my little travel laptop are slowly fading into the sunset. Once I get more comfortable with Windows 10, I can start looking around for a new travel laptop. I'd like to get one before it's time to go to Florida again.
I also need to shop around for a new cooktop for my little kitchen. I've been using the induction burner to cook on, but I'm not really happy with it. The new cooktop will have regular electric burners. This will offer more control over cooking temperatures. As long as I'm going to be cooking more of my meals, this new stovetop will be a big help.
I need to work on the pink afghan more often too. I'd like to get if finished so that I can mail it to Ulf and his girlfriend in Sweden. After that, I can focus on the yellow one that I've been making for myself.
This week is going to be rather busy. Tomorrow I have an appointment with my new heart doctor. Then on Thursday morning Pogo has an appointment at the salon, and an appointment with his doctor in the afternoon to update his shots. On Friday, Deanne and I are going to get our nails done. We have our table reserved for the opening of the new show at the Paris Cabaret on Saturday evening.
Now I'm trying to decide whether I should make breakfast or try to catch a few winks. Maybe I'll try for the winks. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

OH girl, yes you should catch a few winks:) I can't imagine staying up all night, that must be a great book! The bird picture is SO pretty and all of the flowers too. Have a blessed and restful day dear friend, HUGS!
Good morning you two! Yes, I am still here, barely kicking, but still here! LOL! Having some issues with my knee replacement that will be turning 15 in October..."they" think it may be wearing out as it is locking and swelling and oh so painful at times...lots of tests scheduled next week, I am certainly hoping it does not have to be replaced (most painful ordeal the first time), but I do need to walk! I am living alone with my fur babies and no family around to help me with them...hate that part! Anyhow, am happy you are out of the hospital and back with Pogo and you are on the mend too! Getting older is not for the weak, but at least we are still around to enjoy what we have and be thankful for it! Have another fabulous week ahead and keep those witty emails and gorgeous photos coming! Listening to great music always helps the day along too, right? Hugs for both! Mat
Your roses are beautiful. My few little yard blooms are just about gone from the burning sun. It's just so hot here. I have been watering them trying to save what I can but with the burning sun, it's very difficult. Vegetable gardens don't do well here in the summer so after Spring garden end, I just wait until fall before I try again because it will be getting cooler.
I have chemo tomorrow so I will be there for atleast 4 to 5 hours hooked up to chemo. I am cooking enough today so I don't have to try and do it after I get home from the doctor. It's going to be a very long day for me. Wish me luck and you and Pogo have a good day.
