Happy Ground Hog Day 2018

February 2, 2018

Good morning.  And what do you suppose it is doing outside right now?  Yup!  Snowing.  This morning the weather forecaster said we'll get 1-3 inches.  Thirty minutes later, he said "less than one inch."  I guess this means that we'll get what we get.  We also have more headed our way for Sunday too.

Well, today is Ground Hog Day.   While the crowds were gathering at Gobblers Knob, Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania at seven o'clock this morning, I was turning on the TV to watch folks celebrating our weather forecasting ground hog, Punxsutawney Phil.  He's been doing this since 1887.  Today, Phil saw his shadow, and forecast six more weeks of winter for us.  Hmmm, I rather expected that.

I got these photos from Google.  The first one shows some of the crowd that showed up.  Photo courtesy of mentalfloss.com.  The second photo is a close up of Punxsutawney Phil.  Photo courtesy of USA Today.  The last photo shows the townsmen reading Phil's decision.  Photo courtesy of NBC News.

They've also been giving lots of information on TV about how to avoid the flu.  (if that's possible)  The flu has spread through every state in the country.  Schools have been closing due to the large numbers of students calling out sick with the flu.  Supermarkets have tall containers with hand wipes right inside the door for your convenience.  I think every store should have these in place.  If you can't wash your hands after touching things, use a hand sanitizer.  Do what you can to not get this nasty flu.

Today, Pogo and I are hoping to get out to do a couple errands.  Even if we just get out to the bank, that will be okay.  Then the rest of the day I'll have to work on my tax stuff.  I almost forgot.  I have to call and make arrangements for a rental car in Florida.  So I'll probably do that today too.

Now I'm off to make a cup of coffee and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Cab;t believe we already are in another month!
Love that groundhog Phil!!!
Good you do every day something from the tax stuff. As i understand you need to fill in all bills and such for every month, so perhaps is it an idea to do this every two month already ahaed? Wouldn;t cost you so much time, and then you can just add up all when you do the final paperwork for the accountant.
Just an idea, I don;t know if it is workable.

You know what? I like your calanedar much more than the other yorkie calendar!! Well, Pogo is kind of a special one, isn;t hey?

Good now time to go to my blog and do a little post.
Have a wonderful day and week ahead, my friend.
