Good morning. Tis chilly outside, but the sun is shining, so that helps. I should go out to do an errand, but I think I'll wait for another day. There's so much to do in such a short time to be able to go on vacation without any worries.
Every time I think I have all the bills and taxes covered, another tax bill comes in. It seems there's not a month goes by when there are no tax bills due. I can't remember a time when we had so many tax bills coming due all through the year.
We don't really have any new services in our town, so that leads me to think that we have fewer tax payers. We haven't built any new schools, but the town is always looking for private donations to help pay for the school expenses. Where do all the students come from? Surely they come from families who also pay taxes?
I wonder what happens to a town or city when all the tax payers move out. Who pays all these taxes then? If cities and towns can give tax breaks to businesses then I wonder why they can't do the same for the homeowners. Shouldn't there be incentives to persuade homeowners not to move away?
In the midst of all this, I can't figure why some of our cities and towns are wanting to become sanctuary cities for illegals (and illegal criminals). How on earth are we supposed to pay for this when we can't even handle the taxes we already have?
How about something good? Those of you who have a blog, and want to make blog books, why not visit Blog2Print.com. They are running a special where you can get 25% off your order when you use the promo code BOOKIT25. The deal ends January 24th. (no, I don't get paid to support this site, but my book has already been ordered so I thought I would pass this deal on to you.)
Here's a portion of my shelf full of blog books. Not only are they a nice way of leaving a bit of history behind for your family, they are also fun to sit and look through every once in a while. There are so many memories tucked away into these books.
Well, I've made a tiny little dent in my taxes. I guess that's what I'll be doing most all today. I'd like to get enough of it done to be able to take time off over the weekend. I still need to get airline tickets for Pogo and me, and I'll need to arrange for a rental car for while we're in Florida. Then I need to seriously practice packing a verrrrrry light suitcase!!
Well, now I think I'll refresh my cup of coffee, and get started on those pesky taxes. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Hi Edna,
I understand your tax frustrations. My ex husband refused to pay school taxes until our first child went to school. He said "I don't have any kids in school and until I do I am not paying it". Well of course in the end he did pay them and was penalized as well, but I would think that schools where your at would still get the Federal Education money. If it is for Private schools then the parents should pay enough so that the other people shouldn't have to pay additional taxes to support their private needs. It is always pay this or pay that...
Yesterday we got a notice where there will be an additional $10.00 on our electric bill for being a customer! That really chaps my behind because without the customers where would they be? Remember the days when being a customer to a business actually meant something to the business owners? And just think of our city alone. I do not know the population of Austin without looking it up but WOW, $10.00 for every household. And all the surrounding towns too because this electric company has the monopoly. We have no other companies to get our electricity from. Well at any rate that is a LOT of money for somebody every month!!!
I think that your blog books are awesome. Your right, lots of memories in those books. I might after I come back from Florida set aside some money and start publishing my blogs for my family.
I have been meaning to work on my blog and so I guess that while I have a little time I should go and do that! Talk to you soon... Hugs, Beth and Cisco!
