Laura Jean is my youngest child, and today she's forty eight years old. She was just a tiny bundle when they told me to hold her and enjoy the few moments or hours she may have left. But my goodness, this beautiful child has a wicked strong will power, and isn't going anywhere any time soon. Happy Birthday Baby.
And yup, I'm a year older today too. Actually, one more year and I'll be three quarters of a century old. Wow! Putting it that way makes me sound decrepit. On the other hand, when I look back, I've seen a lot of our country's progress.
When I was a little girl, the kitchen light hung from a cord dangling from the ceiling. The bathroom (if you were lucky enough to have one indoors) was in the basement and had a long pull chain hanging from a box near the ceiling for flushing. If you had a phone, you picked up the receiver and asked Mabel (the operator) to connect you to Hazel or Jan, or anyone else you wished to speak with.
A lot of the streets were still made with cobblestones, and my Grandpa came to visit riding in a horse drawn surrey. A man came around in a large horse drawn wagon selling and buying rags, and the milkman came in his own little truck to deliver the milk and eggs. We had an ice box (today's refrigerator) and every two or three days the ice man would deliver fresh ice.
As a toddler, the Depression was ending, but there was World War II. I remember the celebrations and the dancing in the streets when the war ended. That's the year I started school. It's been quite a learning experience ever since then.
Yesterday, when I woke up from my nap, I found this fabulous huge bouquet of mostly red and yellow roses. My DIL Janet had brought them by for me. I love roses!!! Especially all those yellow ones!
My daughter Deanne came by yesterday afternoon and spent some time with me which I cherish, and this morning I opened a box from Audrey. Woo Hoo! A beautiful set of hand made towels and dish cloth that I had asked for.
When I got home this morning, my little Pogo ran circles around my feet, and gave me kisses when I picked him up. Am I one very blessed lady, or what?? I'm aiming for one hundred years. I don't know if I'll make it, but I'm sure going to have fun trying.
I'm looking at the Weather Channel on TV, and it has warmed up to 36 F degrees. Woo Hoo!! This morning, I took a photo of the thermometer outside the kitchen window at work. Brrrrr!
Last, but not least, today is Mandarin Orange Monday, so I've made a card for Laura Jean and me. We feel pretty special today.
Now I'm going to make a fresh cup of hot coffee, and hug this special little guy who is curled up next to me. I can't get over how lucky I am to have him in my life. So till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Birthday special lady!! Sending you lots of birthday hugs and wishes and blessings for many more to come!
Lovely flowers and yellow roses are my favorites so I love them in this big bouquet too! The gifts from Audrey are lovely as well. Wish we could still purchase those towels that hang on knobs...LOL!
The MOM photo is terrific as are the roses and hydrangeas still blooming in your garden.
Chicken fried steak is a Texas staple meal. Don't forget the peppered cream gravy over it and the mashed potatoes. Try it you will like it. We even have Chicken Fried Chicken...that is with gravy over it...served in all the best restaurants around here! GOOD EATING too (if you can afford the calories). :)
Love the photo you did for Queen Jester's challenge, great job! And thanks for the details on the color changing instructions.
I did get the packed up boxes over to storage on Saturday, spent the day nursing my back yesterday and only minor stuff to my office area will be done today, maybe more tomorrow since it will be raining all day (or so the weather man says)....we need it!
Have a beautiful birthday and a terrific week ahead. Chat more later, hugs, Mat
Well, shiver my timbers, lady. You made it to 75 and you're already headed for 100. I am hoping to be still sharing our blog time together by then myself. Congratulations ... you will find a little something from Izzi on my blog http://fromthesol.blogspot.com/2013/11/miss-ednas-birthday.html.
You have been posting away while I was gone over the weekend. It took me a while to read all of it. Love the Queen Jester picture ... very happy thoughts coming from you ... but, of course, it's your birthday :)
The flowers and beautiful ... you are blessed with a wonderful family who all love it that you are 75 and counting. I'll bet the dwarfs are happy for you too.
I do know that we both use PS ... but when I read your instructions, I don't recognize the prompts ... what verson of PS are you using? I may have to figure out how to translate it, because I love the idea of your instructions. I will figure it out sooner or later.
It is cold here ... definately November. The time change has my brain all screwed up. I'm hungry before it's time to eat, sleepy before its time to sleep and just grumpy. Now that is no way to be on your BD, so I will have to snap out of it.
Edna, you have a wonderful day. Enjoy every wish and every minute ... this is a very special Birthday and I couldn't be happier for you. I'm not too far behind you so I guess I have some catching up to do. Be well and be Happy!

Happy birthday Edna, Hope your day was filled with joy and happiness. Love the card you made the fairies/angels are beautiful. Hugs Elee.
Happy birthday - you are my role model for living life to the fullest.
I enjoyed the trip down memory lane and can remember the milk boxes and I recall stories about the rag man. It's fun knowing you are part of history and when one reflects back on their life it's amazing how much things have changed.
Happy Birthday Edna! Hope your day is as wonderful as you.
I am not as old as you....I have got quite a few years to catch up lol, but I too can recall some of those memories. We used to have our milk delivered, the bread man came in his van and I still remember the yummy warm fruit buns he used to have.
Even in my lifetime the changes have been phenomenal. We have gone from what seemed to be a simple lifestyle to something that's now high tech. I wonder what the future has in store for us?
I hope you realise your dream of making it to 100 years old. I only want to get that old if I still have all my faculties and am able to get around like I do now.
Time to start my day here, got plenty of errands to run today so I will be busy.
Enjoy what's left of yours!
Hugs
