Good morning. Tis rather gray outside right now, but I'm sure the sun will be out in a while. At least that's what the weather app on my phone says. Do you realize that August is almost over and a new month will begin this weekend? Wow, time is flying by!
Well, yesterday Deanne and I went grocery shopping in the morning. This was good because the rest of the day was rather sleepy for me. I don't know why I was so tired, but at least I could rest a lot. And I did.
The other day, I made a small meatloaf with the left over meat after the peppers were stuffed. Last night, I ate the meatloaf with ketchup. Heinz makes a "No Salt Added" ketchup that has only 5mg of sodium per Tablespoon. This helped to make the meatloaf more tasty. Hmm, maybe I should have added more of this ketchup to the meat before I cooked it? I'll give it a try the next time.
I got a new 35% off coupon from Blog2Print in my email. It's almost time to make my new blog book. Hopefully this time I won't have the same problems that I had the last time. Today I will look through my photos to pick out two to use on the covers of the new book.
I borrowed this cute image from the web. There's no message other than how creative how some of us old folks can be in a dire situation.
Have you seen many dragonflies this year? I only saw a few. When I was working, I used to see lots of them every day. I hope they are not disappearing. Here's an image that I borrowed from the web.
Do you share some of your table foods and other things with your fur baby? Before you do, check the label to see if it has ZYLITOL listed in the ingredients. This is poison to your fur babies.
Today I don't have any special plans. I'm hoping to to do a couple loads of laundry and make a couple pies. I think I need to clean out my refrigerator too. Wow, wish me a shot of energy!
September is only a couple days away. It's time to start getting my new calendar ready and my new Christmas card. I also want to buckle down and try to finish up most of my holiday shopping. I really don't like waiting until the last minute. I would also like to get this pink afghan finished so that I can mail it to Ulf in Sweden. Phew! I think I just wore myself out! hahahaha.
Before I go to do some blogging, let me share this image that I borrowed from the web. This is such an important subject for all of us.
Now I'm off to start this new day. So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.
Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Birthday Kevin
August 29, 2019
Good morning. I woke up around 5 a.m. and stayed up. It's looking gray outside but according to my phone app the sun should be shining soon. We finally got a bit of rain yesterday, but we could use a bit more.
I am so bad at posting family events. Yesterday was my grandson Kevin's birthday. He was our two pound miracle baby. Now he is a twenty two year old electrician. Wow, how time does fly! Kevin, I hope your day was awesome. I love you.
Well, I made my stuffed peppers yesterday and I must say I'm not proud of how they came out. They were edible, so I ate one of them, but they could have used a bit more taste. Plus they were a bit on the dry side. Ah well, I'll learn from this and maybe next time they will be tastier. They used to always come out awesome, but that was before the "no salt" diet.
I've been asked to post the meat sauce recipe, so give me a day or so to type it up and then I'll post it. I'm basically experimenting with different alternatives in my food right now. I could be happy with plain pasta most days but then I would not be getting the minimum requirements for sodium or calories. We should be getting a minimum of at least 500 mg sodium and 1200 calories a day. (according to Google)
It's tricky trying to make something tasty and stay within the requirement boundaries. I looked up a recipe in a Low Sodium cookbook. The list of ingredients took a whole page. That's all it took to lose me. I like recipes with four or five ingredients.
Today I have a happy photo to share. My great grandson Jack started his first day at high school this week. Now I have two great grandchildren in high school. Who knows, I just might make it to see some great greats! This is Jack's first day photo. When asked how he liked his first day there, he replied "I loved it!"
I found this very interesting image on the web and wanted to share it. I think it is wonderful how thoughtful this business owner is to be concerned for our homeless animals.
I enlarged the bottom of the photo so that you can read the small print. What a wonderful world it would be if each and everyone of us did our part to help protect our animals.
Deanne will be here in a couple hours to pick me up. We're going to do a bit of grocery shopping. I need to look over my shopping list to make sure everything I want is on it. I'm thinking I might want to make a couple pies this week. One for me and one for Deanne's family.
Before I leave today, I have an another image to share with you. (also borrowed from the web) This is just too cute.
Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Fun At The Fair
August 28, 2019
Good morning. My goodness, it is almost noon. I was up early this morning, took my meds, fed Pogo and prepared the peppers for cooking later. Then, for some reason, I was so tired that I went back to bed for a few more winks.
The package of peppers is called "Stoplight Peppers." One red pepper, one yellow and one green. This is good because some folks, like my DIL Janet, cannot eat the green peppers (they upset her stomach) but she can eat the red ones. I made sure to put all the seeds into marked baggies. I'll dry them out and maybe some of them can be planted next year. We'll see.
Last week the Marshfield Fair was here. I don't get to go anymore, too much walking for me. But the younger folks in the family get to go and have a wonderful time. If there's something fun out there to do, Randi is going to make sure the kids get to do it. She's an awesome mother. Here are some photos she sent us from the Fair last week.
In photo #1, Jazzy has a big teddy bear. Photo #2, Jazzy, Lilah and Jack ride the swings. In Photo #3, Alima has a big spotted dog. Photo #4 is Lilah, Alima, Jazzy and Randi. And in Photo #5 we have Jack, Lilah, Jazzy and Alima. Ah, the joys of youth and childhood. And two generations, my grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Right up until his last few years, Michael and I would go to the Brockton Fair every year. And each year, we had our photo taken at a little booth called "Photos By Scotty." For a while, we had them hanging all through the house. You could walk around and see us age (gracefully). After a while, we narrowed them down to just two or three photos hanging on the walls. The rest were put away.
Oh dear, today there have been several ads on TV for Olive Garden Restaurant, and they keep showing Fettuccini Alfredo, Lasagna and Spaghetti. Groan, groan, groan, don't they know how much I love these foods? I can figure out a lasagna and spaghetti sauce that I can have, but I'll have to really work on the Alfredo sauce thing. That's going to be a bit more tricky.
I'll be a bit late with my blog reading today. Deanne will be here in a little while, and I want to spend time with her before she has to go to work. Just before her car gets to the front of our driveway, Pogo will be over by the storm door, dancing and barking with delight to greet her.
I'm off now to go through all my mail, mostly junk mail. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Too Cool, Too Soon
August 27, 2019
Good morning. The temperature right now is 55F degrees. I'm just not ready for this much coolness. Today will be sunny, and later this afternoon, the temps will get up into the upper seventies. My idea of perfect is that the whole day should be in the mid to upper seventies. Yup, make it year round and call it Paradise.
Well, yesterday I did not accomplish anything that I thought I might. Of course, that doesn't surprise me. That's how a lot of my days go. But at least they go! Yesterday Pogo and I finished off the Prime Rib. I had planned to make the stuffed peppers today, but Deanne brought over some baked chicken so that will be tonight's supper. Tomorrow I'll have the peppers.
I mentioned that I bought two new plants. One of them is a yellow Christmas Cactus. It's small so I doubt if it will be blossoming for a while.
The other plant is a Goldfish Plant. This one is about twelve inches high and looks quite healthy. I can't wait for it to start getting blossoms.
The Goldfish Plant is a hanging plant, so I'll put it out in the kitchen in the main part of the house. That's where I keep all my house plants. That kitchen gets a lot of sunlight so the plants grow well there.
I did at least start a new bag for the Good Will. Today I'll try to get it filled. Another project I'd like to tackle one of these days is to go through all my pots and pans and get rid of the ones that I don't use very much. After that, I have a "catch all" cabinet that needs to be cleaned out. I guess I'm going to be busy till next Spring at least. hahaha.
Audrey sent me an adorable photo that hubby Mac took. Can you see the surprise in the grass? It's mama must be somewhere close by.
Now I'm going to do a bit of blog reading. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Pasta And Meat Sauce, Yum Yum!
August 26, 2019
Good morning. The sun is shining and the temperature is 55F degrees. In a few hours temps should get up to around 71F degrees. After the heat we've had, this is just too cool too fast. I'm actually going to have to get out a flannel housecoat to keep warm.
Oops, the sun just went back in behind a cloud. I guess it's going to be one of those days where the sun plays hide and seek with the clouds. I just hope it warms up soon. I'm not liking the cold.
Yesterday I had me a nap after posting here. My eyes were wicked tired. After a few hours, I was able to make my way to the kitchen and make a meat sauce. I must say it came out really good considering it was only 80 calories and 55 mg sodium per serving. The pasta has no sodium and only 200 calories per serving.
I cooked half the pasta and saved the other half in a baggie in the fridge. I used half the meat sauce, and froze the other half. Now I don't know about you, but I'm not happy with a teaspoon of this, two tablespoons of that and a half cup of this on my plate. When I eat pasta I want a bowl full. (equals two servings) for a total of 404 calories and 185 mg sodium. I think I got the math right. I'll double check it later.
I have a photo to share. This was a tender moment between father and daughter (Eddie and Jazzy) at the show Saturday night during the intermission. I love taking unposed photos.
This next number was an audience favorite. De, Jazzy and Erin perform Proud Mary
Today I'm going to try to fill up another bag for Good Will. If I accomplish that, I'll be happy. Tonight I'm going to polish off the left over pasta and meat sauce, then tomorrow I'm going to try making stuffed peppers. One green pepper, one red one and one orangy yellow one.
I noticed yesterday that one of my butterfly bushes that had died out is making a come back. I'll have to get out in the yard and take some photos. This is the white bush. I wonder if the purple bush will revive itself too. That would really be nice. I do have a couple new house plants, but I'll chat more about them tomorrow.
I borrowed this next image from the web. Please, please, if you see an animal in need of any kind of help, stop and help it. If you can't help, at least please call the police or an animal rescue group, or take it to a near by veterinary clinic. We are the only ones who can help our animals. They need us and we need them.
Now I'm off to catch up on my blog reading. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Where The Girls Are!
August 25, 2019
Good morning. It's early, only 7 a.m. and the temperature is 53F degrees. Today should be sunny with temps maybe getting as high as 70. Wow! Temps are really beginning to drop quickly. I'm sure they'll warm up in the next few days, but Autumn is making itself felt.
Well, last night Deanne, Eddie and I went to the Paris Cabaret and had a fabulous time. For dinner, we all ordered the prime rib. It came with baked potato and green beans. Yum! Yum! I ate my tater and the green beans, but I only ate a small portion of my meat. I brought the rest of it home for Pogo and me to share later today.
The show was really awesome, and I got lots of videos. Deanne uploaded one of Jazzy's songs to FaceBook, so I'll share that one another day. Today I have a couple songs that I thought you might enjoy.
Here's "I Want It All" by Erin, Jazzy and De.
Remember the Supremes? Here is Jazzy, Erin and De singing their rendition of "Stop In The Name Of Love."
I have more videos to share, but I'll try to spread them out over a few days. Nothing like a little music with your morning blog reading.
Next month, the Starliners will be performing "Carousel." Jazzy won't be in that one because of her many school commitments, but Deanne, Eddie and I will be going to see it. It's such a fun evening out that I don't want to miss any of the upcoming shows.
When I got home last night, I checked out all the videos to make sure they all came out okay, then I tried to sleep. I guess I was too excited to sleep because I only managed about a one hour nap. After that, I was up and trying to copy all the videos from my phone over to my laptop. It took me a while, but I managed to do it.
By the time I finished this, Pogo was ready to eat his (last night's) supper. Of course I got it for him. While he ate, I enjoyed watching a few videos. What can I say? I'm a very proud grandma! I love watching my granddaughter performing on stage.
Today, I will put the videos from last night's show on a new thumb drive and send it to Audrey so that she can enjoy the show too. After that, I'm going to make a meat sauce to have with spaghetti. I may have it for supper and save the prime rib for tomorrow. We'll see.
Now, though, I think I'm going to fry up a couple eggs to have for breakfast along with a cinnamon and raisin English muffin and a cup of coffee. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Memories And Friends Are Priceless
August 23, 2019
Good morning. It's not even 5 a.m but I've been up for quite a while. It's those darn naps! If I take a nap or fall asleep too early in the evening, I'm up the rest of the night. Ah well, I've decided just to go with the flow. As long as I get some daytime hours to do things, then all is well.
I have to share something really nice. A lot of days when I'm just not feeling up to snuff, I do my best to visit all my favorite blogs. Alas, I don't always make it to all of them. Somehow a reader on one of these blogs noticed that I wasn't leaving comments and asked why I had been missing. Another reader on that blog knew me and answered that person and then sent me an email to let me know. Thank you Helen. You are a treasure.
Folks, I'm blessed. I have to thank my friend Snowy for helping me get this blog set up and running. Since I've been posting, I have met the nicest folks and made lots of wonderful new friends. I borrowed this image from the web to share. It says it all.
Every now and then, someone will post a picture of an item on FaceBook and ask "Do you remember this" or "Do you know what this is?" Most of the time, these are items that were quite popular when I was very young. So I'm wondering how many of you ever wore a Pinafore. Do you know what they are?
When I was a little girl, I wore a pinafore over my dress every day when I went to school. A pinafore is a sleeveless apron-like garment that is worn over a young girl's dress (and women's too) and typically had ties or buttons at the back. Mine had a bow in the back. My pinafore was usually white, and helped to keep my dress clean. Here's an image I borrowed from the web showing what a pinafore might look like, along with a short description. Some of my pinafores had a ruffle around the bottom and around the armholes.
When my mother would (hand) wash my dresses and pinafores, she would first take down the hems. After they were washed, dried and pressed, she would sew the hems back up. This way, my clothes lasted longer and I did not grow out of them so quickly. You have to remember, the war had just ended when I started school, and there wasn't much money for new clothes. Somehow though, my mother made sure that my brother and I always looked as nice as all the other kids.
I've lived a long time, and seen a lot of things come and go. When I look back, I wouldn't trade my growing up years. I watched the progress of the phone, the television, and especially the music media. When I was a little girl, we had a Victrola. You placed the record on it's turntable and then wound up the victrola with the handle on the side of the machine.
So many changes came along in the name of progress, and I was lucky enough to have seen it all. Growing old isn't always a bundle of fun days, but it is still a gift that not everyone gets to experience. Here's another adorable image that I borrowed from the web.
Tomorrow, Deanne and I are going back to the Cabaret. Hopefully, Eddie can come with us this time. I promise to make sure I don't forget to take my phone with me so that I can get some videos.
Pretty soon it will be daylight. I think I'll have a look in the pantry to see what there is for breakfast. It's that time again when I need to go shopping for groceries. Maybe later today. We'll see how I'm feeling then.
So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.
Hugs, Edna B.

I'm Working On New Recipes
August 22, 2019
Good afternoon. Wow, talk about late starts! Nope, I wasn't reading a book this time. I enjoyed a refreshing nap yesterday afternoon, and paid for it during the night when I should have been sleeping. I spent the night thinking up recipes. I think I've figured out how to make a spaghetti sauce that I can have. Then I looked up the ingredients ( in the Food Counting Book) that I might need to make stuffed peppers. I think I have that worked out too.
This morning after breakfast, Pogo and I decided to catch ourselves a few much needed winks. Now I'm going to have to start working on getting back to a "work days" and "sleep nights" routine. It's not as easy as it sounds. I spent so many years working the overnight shifts and the body has a hard time changing.
Temps lately have still been warm, and the air is wicked heavy. Tomorrow, though, we're supposed to get some cooler temps. It looks like we got a bit of rain during the night, but we still need more. The tiny puddle at the end of my driveway isn't even big enough for one sparrow to bathe in. He might get his feet wet though.
I've been watching the Burger King ads on TV for "plant based" sandwiches, and I looked up their nutritional value. It seems that the "taste like beef" sandwiches have even more sodium than the meat sandwiches. I think it's great to come up with plant based foods, but they need to use something other than a ton of salt to make them tasty.
Yesterday, someone posted this beautiful old hymn on the web and asked if anyone remembered it. I do. Gosh, I haven't heard this one in a long time.
There is something else that I came across on the web and downloaded to share here. I find this disgusting. Please be careful when you are in dressing rooms or any other areas where you can be watched.
Last night, I had spinach pizza for supper. It was fairly low in sodium so I thought I would try it. It was tasteless. It was called Crispy Thin White Pizza. I ate it though. Tonight I think I'll either make meat sauce to go with pasta or I'll have haddock. It all depends on whether or not the hamburg that I took out of the freezer has defrosted.
Well, that's my news for today. Now I want to catch up on my blog reading. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Just Four Weeks Till Autumn
August 21, 2019
Good morning. My goodness, I'm getting a rather late start today. I have to blame it on the books. I picked up another book last evening and started to read it. This one is "Trust Me" by Jayne Ann Krentz. Well, that took care of that! I finished the book around four o'clock this morning.
In all fairness, I have to say that I enjoyed the book. I just have to work on learning how to put the book down for a while. I've always found this difficult to do. Maybe that's why I started crocheting so many afghans. It's not easy to read and crochet at the same time.
Well, yesterday was a pretty good day. I didn't do a lot, but I did cook a couple things, and I made a couple phone calls. That's a start, I guess. I called the Big Brother Big Sister office to find out when they will be making pick ups in my area. Not for another three weeks. I don't really want to hang on to the bags that I'm filling, so I may have to load them into my car and take them to the nearest Good Will store.
Today I want to get some cards ready for mailing. There are birthdays and a wedding coming up. One of these days I need to make a new list of birthdays and anniversaries. I'm getting quite forgetful and I really need this list. I also want to call the VCA this week and make an appointment for Pogo to see the eye doctor.
Today is sort of nice outside. Sunny, but a bit warm for me. According to my phone weather app, we have some days with temps in the seventies coming up soon. That's to be expected seeing as how we are coming to the end of August. Just four more weeks and it will be Autumn. What happened to our summer?
Today I have a few photos of some of the birds that visit my yard. These are the black birds and the mourning doves.
Now I'm going to catch up a bit on blog reading before Deanne gets here. When she can, she stops by on her way to work and we get to spend some time together. Plus, this weekend we'll be going back to the Cabaret for another evening of dinner and entertainment.
So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Eating Can Be A Challenge
August 20, 2019
Good morning. It's a lovely day here in New England. The sun is shining and the temperature is 77F degrees. Today's highs should get up around ninety degrees. The weather app on my phone says we have rain coming the next three days, but somehow I just don't believe it.
Yesterday afternoon we had storm warnings. There was a lot of rain and wind headed our way. Well, the sun went in, the sky was gray, and I waited for the rain. It took a while, but eventually all forty four raindrops got here. Around seven o'clock the storm had passed and the sun came out again. Just in time to go back in for the night.
The day was uneventful here. Pogo and I just snuggled and napped a lot all day. When I first took my blood pressure reading, it was quite low. I looked it up on Google and it said to eat something with salt in it. So I did. I had me a tasty microwave meal with a good amount of salt in it. After a while I took my blood pressure reading again and it was much better.
I guess I just did too good a job of watching my salt intake and went below the necessary amount. I learn something new every day. Now I will have to make sure that I get at least enough salt in my food every day.
The doctor's office called with my lab results and my kidneys are okay, but I will most likely have to go for periodical labs to keep an eye on them. I'll have to be careful to drink enough liquids each day, but not go over my quota. Eating is becoming a challenge.
The mailman just came and brought me a new batch of catalogues and junk mail. I've added this to yesterday's batch. My project today will be to go through it all and get rid of most of it. I'm feeling better today and if it keeps up, I'll try to fill another bag this afternoon for the Good Will.
I found an image on the web that looks just like my very first computer. It was so much easier to use than today's machines.
My friend Beth sent me a beautiful scrap page that I thought I would share. Thank you Beth, I love it. It's all about spending cherished time with our daughters.
Before I go let me share a cute thought that I found on the web. Somehow this seems to fit me most every day. hahaha.
Now I'm off to catch up on some blog reading. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

It's A Cuddle My Doggie Day
August 19, 2019
Good morning. Tis cloudy here with temps of 71F degrees and 100% humidity. According to my phone app, we're supposed to have a speck of rain this morning, then sun and warm temps up to the low nineties for the rest of the day.
Yesterday was not a great day. I guess all the fun and energy of the previous two days did me in. I just couldn't seem to stay up on my own two feet, so I mostly rested with my feet up all day. So far this morning, things are much better.
I just got finished paying a few bills, so now I just have to wait for the mailman to come and pick them up. I'm not making any plans for today, I'll just take things as they come. I do have a couple phone calls to make, but that's it.
My SIL Eddie posted this image on FaceBook, and I answered him "Yup, we're all here!"
I also downloaded these two endearing images to share.
I think I'm going to spend some time today just cuddling with Pogo. I realize this is a short post, but I haven't really been doing much of anything. I promise to be a bit more chatty tomorrow. So, till then, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

There's A Hint Of Fall In The Air
August 18, 2019
Good morning. Tis another really lovely day here in my little part of New England. The sun is shining and there's a teeny tiny breeze. Soon though, temps will be up in the low nineties.
Last evening, I borrowed a very interesting image from the web to share here. How quickly time passes by. Do you realize that last night was the last time we will see the sun set after 8 p,m, until April 28, 2020? I guess this means that there's a hint of Fall in the air.
Well, it's been a busy two days here. Friday I went to have my labs done. Hopefully, I should be getting the results by Monday or Tuesday. On the way home, Dee and I stopped by WaalMart to pick up my meds and a few groceries. One med had not been called in, and after I got home, I found that another one of my meds was written up wrong. (By the doctor's office) I placed a call to the doctor's office to let them know and express my frustration at how little attention they pay to my meds. I will call them back tomorrow to make sure things have been taken care of.
Friday evening, I called my cousin Dickie, whom I haven't seen in years. Unfortunately, when I called, he was already tucked into bed for the night. I told him I would call him the next day. Sad to say, when I checked on FaceBook yesterday, I found that he was in the hospital. Oh no! It seems that he fell and broke a couple ribs. Another cousin had found out about it and had gone to the hospital to visit him. (and posted this photo on FaceBook)
I'll have to check with another cousin to find out how long he will be in the hospital so that maybe I can go to visit with him.
Yesterday, Pogo and I got to go visit with my cousin Ellen, Dickie's sister. Deanne dropped us off, and went to do her errands while we visited. I also got to meet another cousin's wife, Linda, who was here visiting with Ellen. She's from Illinois, and I've never met her in person. Pogo and I had a wonderful visit. Ellen has two cats, and Pogo was busy trying to find them to see if maybe they wanted to be friends. He wasn't very successful.
I have to show you my gorgeous orange roses that Deanne brought me when she picked me up. This is my favorite color, and oh my they are simply gorgeous!
When we got home, I took photos of another beautiful rose that has blossomed in my garden. Gosh, I'm surrounded by all sorts of beauty!
Last evening, I cooked up a batch of fresh summer squash and had that with some grilled chicken (thank you Deanne for the yummy chicken). It's been a while since I've had summer squash and I have to admit that I ate the whole batch. Yum! Yum! Folks, I think I'm going to enjoy my new cooktop. I can cook different things in a wink.
This morning, I've been watching Shop LC on TV. The bargains have been super. I did call in to order a bag of Shungite. I tried to order this the last time they had it but I did not get through in time before it sold out.
Shungite is one of the only known natural materials known to contain fullerenes, which are powerful anti-oxidants. The energy embodied within this ancient stone is said to absorb and eliminate anything that is a health hazard to human life, and it has active metaphysical properties with strong healing powers. Shungite comes from a mine in Russia. I will be keeping my bag of Shungite close by me.
Today is Sunday, yet the mailman just came by to deliver a package to me. Folks, you just can't beat ordering via the internet (mostly Amazon). The package contains gift cards that I ordered for birthday gifts for a couple of my great grandchildren.
Now I think I'll do a bit of blog reading before I go looking for some mischief to get into. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Busy Day
August 16, 2019
Good morning. Gosh, I slept late today too. I did sleep pretty good during the night, even though I did get up a few times, either for bathroom or Pogo. Each time I was able to fall right back to sleep.
Today is another gorgeous day. Sunny with temps no higher than the low eighties. As for the full moon, I slept right through it. Sighhhhh. I thought about it around 8 o'clock last night, then got busy doing something. After that it was dreamland for me.
I have an appointment today for more labs, plus I have a few errands that need to be taken care of. Deanne just texted me and said that she will pick me up in less than 45 minutes. That means I have to cut this post short and get ready to leave.
Meanwhile, let me share a cute photo of Sassy and Pickles. They are now comfy enough to sleep together.
Now I really must get going. I'll leave you with this fun image that I found on the web.
So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

The Blood Pressure Meds Are Working
August 15, 2019
Good afternoon. My goodness, I slept super late this morning. Of course, I was up half the night reading another book by Sidney Sheldon. This one is Memories of Midnight. Today is another beautiful day with lots of sunshine and temps in the seventies.
Yesterday, Deanne came by with another super delicious meal. This one had grilled chicken, noodles and corn. Mmm, mmm, mmm. While she was here, she set up my new cooktop. I did not get to use it though because I already had supper meals for Pogo and me. So today I'll give the new burners a try.
In the afternoon, I went through all my canned goods and bagged up all the ones that I can no longer have. I filled up a shopping bag with all the cans. I imagine I'll have to do the same thing with my freezer soon.
Pogo and I went out on the porch to see if there were any birds to photograph. Here's a new photo of my handsome little fellow. It's hard to get good photos of him because he just won't look at me if he thinks I'm taking his photo.
There were several birds in the yard, but I'm drawn to the Blue Jays. They are so beautiful. Here are two of my better shots.
Later in the afternoon, my daughter Audrey called. She gave me another nice recipe and some wonderful tips. I decided that she and Deanne should collaborate on a new recipe book for folks on low/no salt diets. I love recipes that only have a few ingredients. I also like short cuts. (as long as they are super tasty!) I will save all their recipes and tips in a folder, and when the time is right, they can put their book together.
I went out around 3:30 this morning with hopes of seeing the new green full moon. Sad to say I saw nothing. Drats! I just looked it up on Google, and it says that the moon should be visible tonight around midnight. I guess I'll just have to try again.tonight.
My blood pressure seems to be doing rather well. I just took it and it's 125 over 69. That's the lowest it's been in quite a while. Tomorrow afternoon I have a doctor appointment to have more labs done. I'm hoping that this will be my last appointment for a while.
Now I think I'll do a bit of blog reading, then see what's for lunch. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Bits Of History
August 14, 2019
Good morning. Oh my, today is going to be just scrumptious! Temps in the upper seventies all day, sunshine and a breeze. You just can't ask for more! Well maybe you can. I ate that tomato from Deanne's plant! Was it yummy? You betcha. I made a BLT sandwich and put the tomato in it. I still have a couple slices of it to have with my lunch today.
I'm still waiting for another burst of energy. I didn't get very much done yesterday, but I did cook hamburgers for Pogo. For some reason, I seem to have a sleepy day after every busy day. It seems to work though, so I guess it's okay.
Deanne came by before work yesterday and brought me a bowl of scrumpdillyicious. Can you guess what it was? It was spinach lasagna. I cut it into four servings, and each serving only had 129 mgs of sodium. And, it was delicious! I'll have to ask her if she can write down the recipe so that I can share it here with you.
I came across an ad for a new coin that I thought was rather interesting. No, I'm not a coin collector, but this coin should hold interest for folks who love history. It celebrates the birth of Baby Archie, born to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. He is the first U.S. heir to the British throne.
There's still a lot of summer left to enjoy, and I found this interesting tip for those of you who have a pool in your yard. Did you know that one cup of peroxide per 100 gallons of water will keep the germs at bay in your pool? Hmmm, I did not know that. This is just one of the fun facts that I learn from watching "Common Sense" on the Game Channel on TV.
I also found something interesting inside one of my books. I don't know why I put these ads in the book, but I'm kind of glad I did. These ads show just how far we've come with our technology. These are ads for a laptop and desktop computers. Take note, they are talking megabytes, not gigabytes, and these are top of the line computers.
Oh boy, oh boy! The UPS truck just pulled up and my new cooktop was delivered to me. Woo Hoo! So that's my project for today. I'm going to set up my new cooktop and try it out. I'll have to take a photo once it is all set up.
Now I'm just waiting for Pogo's meds to get here. For some reason, the pharmacy and the doctor never did quite get together so the scripts did not get filled. I made a couple phone calls, and finally the meds are on the way.
I'm off now. I'm anxious to set up my new cooktop. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

I'm Hoping For Another Burst Of Energy
August 13, 2019
Good morning. Tis quite lovely outside right now. The sun is coming in and out, temps are 73F degrees, humidity is 83% and it's supposed to start raining in a couple hours. At least according to my phone app. We can use the rain.
Wow! I got me an unexpected burst of energy yesterday, and actually accomplished a few things. I added a few things to the Good Will bag and went through a ton of magazines that I had been saving. I also took a wee nap, and then started reading (re-reading) another book This one is "The Stars Shine Down" by Sidney Sheldon. I enjoy his books. I figure this one deserves a second reading before being put in the Good Will bag.
I was surfing through FaceBook and came across a little shop that sells the cutest doggie mama shirts. I fell in love with one of them and ordered it. Now I can't wait for it to get here. Isn't this cute?
Yesterday I showed you a photo of my skimpy tomato plants. Here's a photo of Deanne's tomato plant. I bought three of them and gave one to her.
Isn't this beautiful? Deanne brought me a tomato from her plant, and I plan on eating it later either in my lunch or my supper. Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm!
Last night, I was opening a small container of apple sauce and spilled it down the front of my jammies. I cleaned up my mess and changed into clean jammies. This morning while eating my cup of Cream Of Wheat, I spilled some of it down the front of my jammies top. Sighhhhh, you just can't take me anywhere!
While I was in the hospital, they found that I have an abdominal aortic aneurysm. They said not to worry about it now, but to have an abdominal ultrasound in six months. According to the doctor in the hospital, this is something that a lot of us old folks get. I'll have to do a bit of research on it.
The sun has gone in and it's looking like we just might get a bit of rain. Gosh, I hope so. My plants are wicked thirsty. I just went outside to water my tomato plants and discovered that there are three or four teeny tiny tomatoes on them. Isn't it wonderful how nature doesn't give up? I also felt a few wicked tiny drops of rain on my arm. Maybe the rain is coming after all.
Now I think I'll do a bit of blog reading before I start in on filling that Good Will bag. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
