Good morning. Goodness, it feels like I've been up for hours, but I've really only been up for a couple of hours. Pogo decided at 4:30 this morning that he wanted his breakfast. I decided that I did not want to get up so I said "no, not now" and went back to sleep. He wasn't very happy with me but he crawled back onto his chair and went to sleep too.
I wasn't really able to get back into a nice sleep, so at six o'clock I decided to get up and make breakfast. Then I had time to play on my computer for a while. This afternoon though, I really do have to take a nice nap because tonight Pogo and I will be riding through the night with lots of our friends.
It's Halloween, a time for all our young trick or treaters to go haunting for candy, and for us gals to gather for our annual ride.
I've put a nice warm fleece lining into Pogo's Halloween sweater so that he will be nice and cozy. He also has a heater pad inside his car seat. Hee hee hee, all the comforts for my little Pogo. For myself, I have nice warm snuggies beneath my dress to keep me warm. My trusty broom is rested and ready to go.
This year we'll be meeting up with everyone in the George Washington & Jefferson Forest in West Virginia, in a beautiful clearing not far from the Virginia state line. We'll have time to visit and chat with everyone before we all ride off into the night. So keep a watchful eye tonight, you just may get a glimpse of Pogo and me.
Pogo and I have a busy morning ahead of us. We'll be going out in a while to do a couple errands. Then I have to do a load of laundry and maybe give the vacuum a turn around the floor. After that, it will be nap time. Woo Hoo!!
On that happy note, I'll take my leave. So, till tomorrow, Happy Halloween everybody. Y'all have a splendid day! (and night!)
Hugs, Edna B.

Learning Can Be Such Fun
October 30, 2016
Good morning. I've been up for a couple hours, but I've been catching up on email. Pogo and I have had breakfast, and he has had his turkey treat. In a little while, I think I'll go do a bit of grocery shopping.
Deanne and I went to the shooting range on Friday afternoon, and this time I managed to get my three shots in the bull's eye. Of course, this came with a price. I did not get all my numbers done. Ah well, I'll get better as time goes by. I'm having a good time learning. Here's my cricket card from Friday.
Yesterday was a quiet day. Aside from taking a nap, I spent a little time on the computer. When I'm working on quick pages, I lose track of time, and the next thing I knew, it was time to start making supper.
I did get to put the new plant shelf together and set it up in front of the pantry window. Now it has five plants on it, and it really does look nice. I took a photo of the spider plant that we hung by the kitchen window. It's not the greatest photo, but you can see how much the plant has grown.
This afternoon, I'll have to go through a couple new piles of magazines and junk mail. Mostly it's all junk mail. Gosh, this stuff adds up so fast! It seems like every few days, there's two or three new piles to go through. In the old days, I could just put all of this stuff out in the trash. Nowadays, we first have to go through everything and cut off all our identification information first.
Oh gee. I've been watching the TV, and they seem to be running the same commercial over and over. It's the one where a grown man is talking to his food, and then he "spanks" it. This is sad. I mean I can understand talking to an inanimate object, but please.... spanking it?
It's time for another Halloween quick page. This one is rather simple. I was intrigued with the background paper. (see the TOU for the creator of the paper) Have fun with it.

Now it's time for me to get dressed and go grocery shopping. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a magnificent day.

Going to play Cricket Again Today. Woo Hoo!
October 28, 2016
Good morning. Have you noticed that we're running out of October? Gosh, the time is flying by! It seems that the only time of year that does not rush on by is the winter. Winter weather seems to drag on and on.
Think about it. From April 15 to October 15, the weather is split among three seasons, Spring, Summer and Autumn. From October 15 to April 15, we have the colder weather of Winter. Hmmm, somehow this doesn't seem quite right. Or maybe it's just the way an aging body might perceive it. You think so?
It's been quiet here. I have a list of things that I hope to do each day, and somehow I don't quite ever get to even the first item on the list. Well, to be fair, lots of times I do accomplish at least one thing on the list.
Yesterday I crocheted for a while. Now I have only twenty four more rows to go to finish the afghan. Interesting, but for some reason I'm not enjoying making this particular afghan. It's pretty, so that's not the reason. Ah well, I'll like it once it is finished. Then I can move on to something different.
Later this afternoon, I'm meeting Deanne at the shooting range for another go at Cricket. Hopefully today I will be able to hit the bull's eye three times. Now that would really make my day! I had thought that I would stop by the bank on the way to the range, but I think I'll wait and go the bank tomorrow so that Pogo can go with me. He enjoys going to the bank, and the folks there enjoy seeing him too.
Today, I think I'll put the new plant shelf together and get it set up in the kitchen pantry. Then I have some calls to make to figure out what to do about the refrigerator. You know, I bought my refrigerator in 1997, and it is still working just fine. On the hand, neither of the refrigerators out in the main house are older than six or seven years. Makes me wonder why some folks are so careless.
Tomorrow I have to buckle down and get creative on my computer. I have a card to finish, and another quick page to make. Then I really must get serious about working on my calendar. I also have to wrap and package my daughter Laura Jean's birthday gifts and get it to the post office.
I found a beautiful crochet jacket pattern on line, but I was not able to copy the pattern. Once I finish a couple projects this weekend, I'll look again for the pattern. However, I did find a cute pattern for a retro pin-up headband that I would like to try.
The morning is flying by, and it's time for me to rustle up something tasty for brunch. (I did not have breakfast this morning, so I'll have an early lunch.) Tuna salad is sounding pretty good. On that note I'll take my leave. So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.
Hugs, Edna B.

It's Rather Busy Around Here Today
October 27, 2016
Good afternoon. No, I did not sleep the morning away. We've been having a problem with the heat in the main part of the house. Seems that none of the heat is coming up into the house. Hmmm, I checked and the heat seems to be working okay. It just isn't going where it should.
So this morning I had the repair man out to see what was wrong. Glad to say, he found the problem and got it fixed. It seems that the radiators needed to be bled. Once that was taken care of, all the radiators were working properly again.
It's not very warm here, only in the low 40's. Plus, we are expecting rain soon. Tomorrow though, it is supposed to warm up a bit. That will be much appreciated. At least by me. I don't really like the cold.
Next, I have to get the model and serial numbers for one of the refrigerators that are out in the main kitchen. It seems that someone has broken the dial that regulates the temperature in the freezer section and now frost and ice keep building up and the door won't close properly. Of course, no one mentioned this to me until it had been broken for a while. It seems that some folks don't really care about taking care of things that they don't have to pay for.
DIL Janet was by last evening, and we ordered pizza for supper. Yum! I had cooked a small steak for Pogo, so he had a tasty supper too. We had a nice evening, chatting and watching our favorite TV program.
Today I would normally go grocery shopping, but I don't really need much of anything so I'll wait a few more days. Joe is going shopping with one of the dwarfs so he will be all set. This afternoon I'll work on the afghan. I have only about thirty more rows to go to finish it.
Here's an adorable "minion" saying that I found on the web. This should put a smile on your face.
On this happy note, I'll take my leave. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Scooping Your Way To Prosperity
October 26, 2016
Good morning. Goodness, I'm late today! I slept on and off throughout the night, so this morning I was in no hurry to get out from under the covers. First, because I'm enjoying my snooze, and second because it's warm and cozy under the covers. Pogo though, has decided that enough is enough. Mama please get up and make my breakfast!
It's rather wintery today. Right now, it's only 42F degrees, and most likely won't get up over 46 degrees today. Tonight's temp is supposed to be around 30F degrees, and by 6 a.m. tomorrow it should be right around 32F degrees. Tomorrow is supposed to warm up to about 48F degrees during the day, with rain. It's supposed to rain on Friday too.
Folks, I know it's late but my little birds are sitting outside my window and looking quite hopeful that I will bring out some food for them. When it's cold, they need more food to keep warm. So give me a few moments to take out their food and I'll be right back.
I'm back. My goodness, I no sooner put the last bit of food out, including a bowl of peanuts, and there were several blue jays, sparrows and titmice rushing in to enjoy the feast. There's even a few squirrels and chipmunks enjoying the food. Later today, I'll have to make a quick run to the store for some birdseed. All we have left is the sunflower seeds.
Today I want to talk about a new, very creative, business that has popped up. If you like being your own boss, this could be the perfect job for you. It's called being a "Scooper." Here's a photo that was in yesterday's newspaper.
This app is called "Pooper" and it will summons someone to scoop up your doggie's waste off the sidewalk or neighbor's lawn. It's for the person who has the time to take their doggie for a walk, but is just too darned busy to reach down to pick up their doggie's poop.
The app, which began being marketed during the summer, is supposed to work pretty much like Uber. Once your dog does its job, you open the app, pinpoint the excrement on a digital map and order a scoop. You are then free to leave; a scooper (the driver in the Uber analogy) comes to do the cleanup.
The company's quirky video ad and motto is "Your dog's poop in someone else's hands." For poopers, there will be tiered payment plans. For example, the dog walker or hoarder might order the "unlimited premium plan that allows unlimited scoops in an unlimited radius. Scoopers' compensation will vary depending on their mode of transportation and how far they travel to do the job. Co-founder, Ben Becker, assures us that earnings will absolutely be more than minimum wage.
Okay, now I wonder -- if you have the time to poke an app on your phone and type in where you and your doggie's poop are, how much time does this take? Wouldn't it be so much quicker to bend down and pick up the poop yourself? And cheaper, too? On the other hand, think of all the money you can make as a scooper, by running around all day scooping up doggie poop! (and smiling all the way to the bank!)
Okay, how about another Halloween quick page? This one is for the party goers. Our lady skells are all dressed up and ready to party! Hmmm, it seems their dates (in the background) are more interested in the new car. Ladies, you may have to wait a while.

I've had a question from a blogger friend about the computer program that I use to make my quick pages. I have Photoshop, so that's what I use. But it is expensive, so I recommend that you pick up a copy of Photoshop Elements. It's much less expensive (usually under $100) and has all the bells and whistles that you might need for your creative projects.
However, do not buy your software on Ebay. A lot of the software being sold there is pirated. At least that is what I have found over the years. Your best bet is to shop your retail stores. Photoshop Elements is frequently on sale for a very nice price. Especially when a newer version is coming out. Good luck, and I hope this helps.
Now I'll have to go and soothe Pogo's feelings. He is a bit miffed about not being able to go outside on the porch. I think I'll let him out for a few minutes. It's a bit nippy, so I don't think he'll stay out there very long. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

A New Fun Way To Practice Shooting
October 25, 2016
Good morning. Brrrr, there's definitely a chill in the air now. I guess our Indian Summer weather is about all gone. Today the temperature will only be around 47F degrees, then back down to 33 degrees tonight. Feels like the winter cold is moving in on us.
I've had to turn the heat on. So now I'll ask Joe to check on how much fuel we have so that I can arrange for a fuel delivery. I wonder why October, November and December are called the "Autumn" season. The beautiful Fall weather only lasts for a short while, then the winter cold sets in. Well, maybe it will stay in the 40's and 50's for a few more weeks.
Yesterday afternoon, Deanne sent me a text saying that she would be able to go to the shooting range with me. I'm so glad she felt better because we had such fun. Instead of using the regular paper targets, we played Cricket, using a gun instead of darts. These new cricket sheets were to help us with accuracy. Here's my sheet.
We had to get three points in each number, including the bulls eye to win the game. I got all my numbers done, but could not get the bulls eye done before our class ended. Deanne got the bulls eye done and most of the numbers. We had a great time, and will be using Cricket sheets again for the next practice.
I have some perennial plants in pots, so yesterday I went on-line to learn how to "over-winter" them. Seems there are several ways to do this. I can dig a big hole in the garden and plant everything, pots and all, (with some mulch of course) or put them in the basement and water them once in a while. I can also find a spot on the ground near the house (on the East side) and cover them with much for insulation to keep them safe until Spring.
The plants will hopefully survive the winter this way. There are a few more steps in the process of over-wintering the plants, but if you are interested you can look it up on Google. I'll either try putting them in the basement, or maybe on the ground behind the porch protected and covered with mulch. Next year, I think I should put all my potted plants in the ground.
I dug into my photo archives for some birdie photos to share. These photos were taken four years ago today while I was at work. The Robin and the Northern Flicker were busy in the yard looking for food.
This next photo of a pink Knockout Rose was taken the same day. These roses are still blooming today in my garden. There aren't tons of blooms, but even a few is beautiful.
Today I'll need to spend some time on my computer to make a few more quick pages. My folder of them is getting a bit lean. Plus, being creative is good exercise for my brain. First though, Pogo and I need to make a trip to the Post Office. We did not get to finish all the errands yesterday.
Time is getting short, and I've been procrastinating about putting together the photos for my new calendar and designing this year's Christmas card. So, I think I'll work on these projects later today. Hmmm, let's see how far I get! I usually just procrastinate until the last minute.
Well now it's time for me to get dressed and get this new day started. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

A Pleasant Surprise From My Spider Plant
October 24, 2016
Good morning. It's a lovely morning here, about 50F degrees and sunny. Today temps should reach up into the upper 50's, then dip down into the upper 30's tonight. At least I'll be able to put the plants outside for a while today. Hopefully, the new plant shelf will be here soon, and I can get it set up in front of the pantry window.
Joe says he will put up a plant hanger over one of the kitchen windows. I just have to pick up some screws to attach the hanger to the window frame. I also have a small package to mail, so I guess Pogo and I will take a short trip to the Post Office and the hardware store this morning.
Once the plant hanger is up, my spider plant will have its new home. Speaking of the spider plant, I got a lovely surprise yesterday. There are several tiny white blossoms on it. I never realized that this plant had flowers. They are really lovely, and look like teeny tiny Easter lilies.
Goodness, I just got a text message from daughter Deanne, saying that she is not feeling so good and won't be able to go to the shooting range with me later this afternoon. It sounds like she may have picked up a nasty virus bug. Hopefully, it will be a short lasting one, and she'll be feeling better really soon. As for the shooting range, I'll go by myself. I really need the practice.
I'm feeling a lot more like my old self now, so I need to get out more by myself (with Pogo, of course). Who knows, maybe while Pogo and I are out this morning we can stop by Ocean State Job Lot and wander about the store for a while. Even if we don't buy anything, it will be fun.
Next weekend, SIL Eddie and Joe are going to Home Depot with me to pick up some supplies to use for making winter screen covers for the porch. We've tossed around a few ideas, and we may have come up with one we can use. I was hoping to use plexiglass, but we may have to resort to using plywood panels.
Joe says we can put little windows in a couple of the plywood panels so that it wouldn't be so dark on the porch. That would help because there is no light on the porch. I intend to leave my chairs, etc, out on the porch all winter. Covered up, of course.
Well, now I think it's time for me to get dressed so that Pogo and I can go do our errands. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.
I Feel A Chill In The Air
October 23, 2016
Good morning. Tis a bit "brrrrrrr!" this morning, only 49F degrees. Today's temps will only make it into the mid 50's, and then drop down to 40 degrees tonight. I feel my "happy camper" weather days are coming to a close. For the next few nights, the temps are going to be in the low to mid thirties. Ouch!!
Yesterday was a real New England weather day. First it was gray, cloudy and wet. Then it was just gray and cloudy. Soon it began to rain again. This time it was more than just drizzle. Here's a photo of the big rain drops coming down just before it got really heavy.
Not more than two minutes after I took this photo, the rain came down so heavy that you almost couldn't see through it. An hour later, the sun came out, really bright as if it had never rained. About another hour later, the sun went in behind the clouds, and the rest of the day was gray. That's how the weather is here sometimes.
In the afternoon, I came a cross a photo of an Aunty Acid mug that I really like, so I went online and ordered it. Ever had a day like this? I have, and up to now I've just been biting my tongue. Now I can at least have a cup of coffee (or maybe a beer?) in my new mug while I count to ten.
Aside from ordering a new plant shelf for the panty and having a nice phone chat with Aunt Lucy, that's about all I accomplished yesterday. I did put a few rows on the afghan last night, but that's about it.

Time is getting away from me now. I got up late this morning, let Pogo go out in the house to get his turkey treat, then crawled back under my blanket for a few more winks. Pogo got hungry in the middle of the night, and I fed him a couple strips of his Doggie Bacon.. By then, I was awake so I did a few crossword puzzles until my eyes got tired again.
On that note, I'll take my leave. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

I'm A Regular Demon With A Fly Swatter!
October 21, 2016
Good morning. It's another gorgeous Autumn day here in my little part of New England. I must say though, that my yard is beginning to be overrun with fallen leaves. I guess it's time to get out the "blower/vacuum" machine, and start bagging some of them.
According to the weather report, today will probably be our last warm day and night for a while. So you know Pogo and I will be spending some time out on the porch enjoying this gorgeous day. Actually, we spent quite a bit of time out there yesterday too. It was wonderful.
Yesterday brought lots of good news. Kevin went on a job interview, and was hired. They were very excited to have him, and he'll be getting a call really soon to start work. After his interview, Kevin came by and took me grocery shopping. It went very well. He did the reaching and heavy lifting (cases of water), and when we got home he carried everything in for me. After I had put everything away, I still had plenty of breath left. So, thank you, thank you Kevin!!
A few hours later, daughter Deanne called to tell me Jazzy's wonderful news. Her MCAS grades came, and she excelled in everything!!! Wow, congratulations Jazzy! Here's a photo of her grade paper.
Okay, I know. I'm crowing again. But gosh, it's so easy to crow with these two awesome kids. My cup of blessings runneth over.
I brought the box with the greenhouse up onto the porch yesterday and started putting it together. It wasn't really difficult, but I stopped halfway through because it was looking too tall to put where I had in mind. I got out my measuring tape, and yup! It's going to be too big to put either in the pantry or the kitchen.
Hmmm, now I'll have to come up with a Plan B for all our indoor plants. I guess I'll take the greenhouse apart and put it away till next March. Meanwhile, I'll have to look for a smaller shelf for all the plants.
I found a really interesting cartoon on the web. (author unknown) I do not like bugs, spiders or any other crawly things. As long as they are somewhere else, I'm fine. However, I do not wish to share my living space with them.
Hmmm, now this gives another meaning to squishing a bug or spider when I see them. Actually, I try to get someone else to do the squishing. I don't even like to do that! I never really gave a thought to all the little kiddie bugs that would now be orphans. Gosh, what happens to them?
As guilty as this may make me feel, I'm still going to zap every fly that comes into my house. Fair warning to all baby flies: if you want to live, fly out of here as soon as you can! Once I pick up that fly swatter, I'm a raving demon until I smack my quarry!
Well, the morning is quickly passing, and I need to get dressed so that Pogo and I can sit out on the porch. So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Cooler Temps, But Still Quite Lovely
October 20, 2016
Good morning. Well that short burst of lovely warm temps is over. Today we'll just make into the 60's. I must say though, that the sun is shining and it is still quite lovely outside. I have a couple photos to show you just how pretty it is here.
The first photo is the view from my porch, and the second photo is a close-up to show that there are a few patches of yellow beginning. They don't show up so good, but next week they'll probably be brighter.
And here's a photo of the new plants. I've had them outside on the porch to enjoy the sunshine and warm temperatures. I'm not sure what color the two Christmas Cactus plants will be but it will be fun to find out.
Later today, I'll bring in the plant greenhouse that is in the trunk of my car, and put it together. I have a spot in the kitchen pantry, in front of the window, that I'm thinking of for this greenhouse. Of course, we may also just keep it in the kitchen by one of the windows. I'll figure that out later.
In a little while, grandson Kevin will be coming by to take me grocery shopping. First he has a job interview to attend. Good luck, Kevin. A job helps to give him spending money while in college, and it puts the gas in his car to get him back and forth to class. (and to see me, too!) It's also good for his character too. He has plans for his future, and he works hard to make it happen. (Gosh, do I sound like I'm tooting my horn again? What can I say? He's pretty awesome!)
If this trip to the market works out okay, I'll know that I'll be trotting around on my own soon. I just get winded too easily these days. But I do feel that I'm getting back to my normal, even though it's a bit slowly.
Today I have another Halloween quick page for you. This one is for the photo of your doggie in his or her Halloween outfit. Have fun with it.

Now I think I really should get dressed and finish making my grocery list. Before you know it, Kevin will be here and I won't be ready. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day.

Mother Nature Is Putting On A Color Show
October 19, 2016
Good morning. It's a pleasant sort of morning here. The sun goes in and out behind the clouds, and current temps are in the 60's. It's supposed to warm up quite nicely soon, and the rest of the day will be awesome.
As I sit here and look out my door, I'm noticing bits of golden yellow showing up here and there in the big tree at the end of my driveway. Autumn colors are creeping in all around us. My beautiful tree is trying her best to stay green as long as she can, but soon she'll have to give in to Mother Nature and put her Fall dress on. (She'll still be quite beautiful!)
Yesterday, Pogo and I got to spend quite a bit of time out on the porch. The weather was just awesome! Around noon, my grandson Kevin came by after class for a visit and did some vacuuming for me. Actually, I think he was here mostly to check up on me and make sure I'm okay. I am so blessed to have such an awesome grandson.
Last night I watched a few episodes of "Chrisley Knows Best." In one episode, Todd (Chrisley) was moving his 72 year old mother to live in his own house. (to keep a better eye on her) "Nana" has a little tiny Yorkie named Miley, and brought her with her. (of course) It was an enjoyable, and really funny, story of how a caring family looks after and gets along with each other.
I went into my photo archives and found some interesting photos that were taken on this very day, four years ago. It was a cloudy day, and whenever there was an opening in the clouds, the sun would peep through. These photos were taken while I was at work.
On my way home that day, I spotted a large flock of geese flying overhead. I guess they were all moving to a warmer Southern site. The second photo is a close-up of the flock.
And here's another pretty shot of this same flock. For some reason, I always seem to be driving my car when these photo ops happen and I don't get the photos. For these, I happened to be sitting at a red light.
This afternoon, I want to make a big pot of pasta and meat sauce. DIL Janet will be by later after work, and this is one of our favorite meals. I also want to call Aunt Lucy to make sure she is alright. I had planned to drive out to her house early this week, but life had other plans for me. However, she is only as far away as my phone.
I also need to check into the elder transportation company to see if they could pick up Aunt Lucy and bring her here, and then come back to take her home again. This would be a big help to both of us.
Well, time is marching on, and it's almost time to think about what's for lunch. Pogo isn't thrilled about the doggie food that I gave him for breakfast. But, he did eat some of it. Maybe I can find something tasty in the fridge for lunch.
On that note, I'll take my leave. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Tis Rather A Dreary Day Here In New England
October 18, 2016
Good morning. My goodness, have you noticed how late it is when day breaks now? At seven o'clock this morning it was still dark outside my door. The sky may have lightened up five minutes earlier, but it rained all through the night so there are lots of clouds.
For the moment, the rain has stopped, but the forecast calls for more rain during the day. Temps today will be in the high 70's, so at least it won't feel cold. For a little while, the weather forecast called for 80F degrees for us, but somehow that changed while I was sleeping.
Well, Pogo and I went out yesterday as far as the bank and the Post Office. Then we came right home. That was about all the traipsing around I could do. It's taking longer than I thought to get back to my normal speed.
I found another fun pattern on the web. This one is for a crocheted witch hat. Although I prefer the traditional black hat, these fun colors should appeal to the younger witches.
I also found an interesting picture of a photo wall treatment. I borrowed the photo from the web to share here. (author unknown) Goodness, what a unique way to display the family photos.
Yesterday, Pogo and I spent quite a lot of time out on the porch. Today though, we'll be spending most of our time indoors. Unless of course, the sun comes out and warms things up. Then maybe we can sit out for a while. Meanwhile, this is a very good day to work on crafts.
Today, I'm going to print out some crochet patterns for DIL Janet and Aunt Lucy. I'll also print out some cover sheets that I've made that show pictures of the finished items. Altogether there are fifteen patterns that include afghans, a snoodie, pet sweaters, ponchos, wraps, and baby outfits.
There's not much news for today. So now, I think I'll see what's in the freezer for our supper and take it out to thaw. Then I'll make a hot cup of cocoa (mmmm, sounds yummy!) and put a few more rows on the afghan.
On that note, I'll take my leave. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

October Is Adopt A Shelter Dog Month
October 17, 2016
Good morning. Tis another beautiful morning here in my little part of the world. Oh my, I see we have a few days of a mini heat wave coming with temps in the low 70's. Woo Hoo! I can absolutely handle this!!
Yesterday afternoon, Pogo and I sat out on the porch for a while, then we took a nice long walk around the yard. My goodness, there are so many new smells added to the yard every day, so Pogo was in doggie heaven running from one new smell to another.
Later, after supper, I felt pretty good so I had me a glass of Bud Lite. Mmmm, that tasted so good, and refreshing. And, it didn't even make me tired. I washed my glass and put it away, and settled in to watch a bit of TV. I woke up about two hours later!
Folks, this month is Adopt A Shelter Dog month, so if you've been thinking about getting a doggie, please check your local shelters. There are so many beautiful doggies (and kitties too!) who are waiting there, just hoping for someone like you to come along and take them home with you. In case you didn't know it, my Pogo came to me from a shelter. There's gold in "them there shelters" folks, so go get yourself some!
While I was poking around on the web, I found the most adorable photo (author unknown) of a different colored squirrel. Wow, I thought I had seen all the different colors of these curious little critters, but I've never seen one with this color variation. Gosh, it is so adorable!
This morning, Pogo and I have to take a ride to the bank, and then to the Post Office to mail off another batch of bills. God bless those bill collectors, they do like to keep us on our toes. Well, at least it is a beautiful day to get out for a little while.
Well, time is fleeting by and if I don't get dressed and leave, the morning will be gone. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a beautiful day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Such Beautiful Colors Everywhere
October 16, 2016
Good morning. It's around 50F degrees at the moment, the sun is shining and my flag is dancing happily in the breeze. What can I say? It's a gorgeous Autumn morning here in New England. Both plants have been brought back outside to enjoy the nice weather. (the ones that we've been bringing indoors at night)
Friday, Pogo and I went out to do an errand, and I stopped a few times to take photos of some of the trees in their Autumn colors. A lot of the trees are already turning colors, while others are losing their leaves.
I love the stark difference in colors in the last photo. There are a lot of pines and Norwegian Spruce in our area, and these trees stay green year round. I guess the large tree at the end of my driveway is a sugar maple because it's leaves will soon be turning a beautiful yellow. Actually, it already has a few scattered yellow leaves.
Yesterday, before I headed out to do some grocery shopping, I had a bit of an asthma attack that really had me scared for a little while. I immediately turned on my oxygen concentrator to help me breathe. After a while, I thought I was better, so I got in the car and headed for the market. Unfortunately, I was not alright, so I turned around and came back home.
After a couple hours, my breathing steadied. For the rest of the day I was okay as long as I did not exert myself. Today I'm feeling back to normal. This was too close for comfort for me, so I'll have to talk with the doctor about it on my next appointment.
How about another Halloween quick page for all those wonderful spooky photos you'll be taking soon? In this one, we have our neighborhood crow chatting with his friend, Mr. Skeleton. I wonder what they are talking about. Hmmmm?

Today I'm going to take it easy and maybe do a bit of crocheting. I still have that afghan to finish. Actually, I think there are only forty eight more rows to go and it will be done. After that, I think I'm done with afghans for a while. At least I think I am! (you never know)
I have a couple more bracelets that I want to finish too. Before you know it, the Holidays will be here and I want to be ready ahead of time. There's only seventy more days till Christmas. Pretty soon, I'll start wrapping and boxing up the things that I have to mail out.
For now, I have to get busy soon and design my Christmas cards and pick out the photos for my next calendar. These both have to be ready next month for printing. And pretty soon, Pogo and I have to decide whether or not we'll be able to join our friends for a night of flying.
As long as my breathing is good, we can go. Goodness, it just wouldn't do for me to fall off my broom while flying somewhere over England or Holland or wherever!! I don't think Pogo could handle the broom all by himself. hee hee hee
Well, that's my news for this morning. Now I'm off to sit with Pogo and watch a bit of TV. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.
Good morning. It's around 50F degrees at the moment, the sun is shining and my flag is dancing happily in the breeze. What can I say? It's a gorgeous Autumn morning here in New England. Just A Quickie Post, Got Lots To Do
October 14, 2016
Good morning. Tis a bit nippy this morning. Only 44F degrees, but at least the sun is shining. The weather man says it will warm up later today to about 58F degrees. Gosh, I hope so. I hope the contractor shows up too, and finishes the work before I have to leave at 4 p.m.
I was able to cancel and reschedule my appointment with the eye doctor, but I cannot do the same with my appointment this afternoon at the shooting range. Nor do I want to change my appointment. It will be another week and a half before my next appointment. Since our instructor has opened his new gun store, his time at the range is limited.
Yesterday afternoon, I spent some fun time at my laptop making some new quick pages. When I'm having fun, the time really flies by, and the next thing I knew it was late afternoon, and my DIL Janet was here to pick up her cell phone that she had left the night before.
This morning I need to get outside and move things around on my porch so that they don't get in the contractor's way. I haven't done this already because if the guy does not show up, then I'll have done it all for nothing.
Today I have a fun email sales ad to share with you. I got this in my mail the day before yesterday.
Did you catch what was so funny? Check out the dates! These arrived in my email on October 12th. Either my computer is more than a little slow, or someone does not proof read their employees' work before sending it on to the public. I mean, my computer is a bit slow....but really!
Now I'm going to have to get going and start moving things on the porch. So, till Sunday, Y'all have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs, Edna B.

Waiting On The Contractor (What Else Is New?)
October 13, 2016
Good morning. It's looking like the start of another beautiful Autumn day here. Temps will reach the upper 60's this afternoon, then back down in to the 40's for overnight. The contractor did not show up yesterday, so let's see if he will show up today. Somehow, I think he will not be here.
Pretty soon I have to do a review on Angie's List of my thoughts on this contractor's work and business dealings. It's fair to say that I will not be giving him the best review. His honesty and attitude leave a lot to be desired.
Recently I came across a fun looking craft project - putting a photograph on a piece of wood. It looks like fun, so I think I'll give it a try. Yesterday, the bottle of PVA Glue and craft brushes (that I had ordered from Amazon) arrived in the mail. Next, I have to pick up a container of Decoupage glue and a piece of wood. I'll also need to print out a couple of my photographs to use. Hopefully, this project will turn out pretty good, and I'll take photos to share.
Last evening we brought in the big citronella plant and the spider plant. Shortly, I'll put them back outside again for the day. If the nights would stay warmer, I could leave them both outside overnight.
Today I have some fun photos that a friend sent to me. This first photo is "A typical rainy day in Chicago." I love where the people are standing to get out of the rain.
This second photo is titled "I wonder what they all are looking at?" They are all so intent on something going on inside the room.
This one is my favorite. It's called "Life is good!" The look on this doggie's face is priceless!
Thanks, MaryAnn. I really enjoyed these photos. What a fun way to start a new day.
I just sent a text message to the contractor and mentioned that seeing as how no one showed up yesterday or this morning, could I expect them tomorrow? His reply was yes, tomorrow, just not sure what time it will be. Gosh, doesn't this just make you want to have him back to do another job?
Last evening, DIL Janet came by after work and we had a lovely visit. Dinner was delicious, and we caught up on each other's news. And, we watched our favorite program together. (I taped Project Runway) Unfortunately, she forget to take her phone with her when she went home. So, I imagine she will be stopping by later today to pick it up. I think I'll put it on the charger so that it will be fully charged for her.
Before I go, let me give you another Halloween quick page. This one features Miss Lola, her friend and her kitty Blackie, enjoying a beautiful moonlit night.

Now I think I'll get dressed and find some fun mischief to get into. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Green, Green, Beautiful Green
October 12, 2016
Good morning. Tis a bit nippy this morning, but soon it will warm up to around 60F degrees. I got up this morning to 44F degrees. It's good sleeping weather, but I have to tell you, I can sleep just as nicely at 55F degrees. I looked at the upcoming weekend temps, and Friday and Saturday nights are supposed to be in the upper 30's. Oh dear!
Well, yesterday I called to cancel and reschedule my eye doctor appointment. The contractor who built my porch is supposed to be coming by this week to fix a couple things on the porch, and he's not pleased about it. Therefore, he would not give me an exact day or time when he would be coming by. So, I had to clear my schedule for the week so that I could be here, if and when he shows up.
Today I have photos that I took of some of my trees. This first photo is what it looks like when I look out my living room door. Pretty soon though, the leaves on the tree on the right will turn a beautiful golden yellow.
In this next photo, the naked tree top is in the next door neighbor's yard. As you can see, my tree is still nice and green. I must confess though, that most of my trees do stay green all year round.
This next photo shows a couple of the gentle giants that surround most of my house. They are full of pine cones, and will stay green. (obviously!)
And finally, this tree (in the middle) is one that I planted somewhere around 1999 or 2000. It was just a tiny little twig, and I finally had to put a wire basket around it because people kept driving over it. (Mostly when it was covered with snow and they could not see where it was.) Now, however, it is doing just fine. Pretty soon though, it too will lose all of its leaves.
I finished the hat and scarf set last night, so today I'll take a photo of it. I should probably work on the afghan though to get it finished. Maybe if I do a few rows on it, I won't feel so guilty about starting another new project. Hmmm.
Knowing how cold it was going to be last night, I brought in my spider plant. Goodness! It's grown quite a bit, and now I don't know where I'm going to put it. Obviously, it will have to go somewhere out in the kitchen (in the main part of the house). I just have to be careful where I put it so that the cats won't get at it. For some reason, they love to play with my plants.
It's almost 9:30 and the contractor is not here yet, so I doubt if he'll show up today. Just in case though, I think I'll get a few chores done now. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a beautiful day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Having Fun With New Crochet Projects
October 11, 2016
Good morning. Today is another gorgeous Autumn day here in New England. Days are in the sixties, (a few in the upper 50's) and nights much cooler in the 40's. It's time to have the furnace guys come out to give the furnace a good cleaning. I'll have to call them today.
Well, I tried to sleep late this morning. But there are some things you just have to get up for, and once you're up you can't get back to sleep. Well, I suppose I could if I tried really hard (haha) but as long as I'm up I may as well get a few things done around here so that I can get back to my craft projects.
Last night I worked on, and finished, the scarf. Then I started the matching hat. I'll have to take a photo when the set is finished. I've never made this hat pattern before, so I hope it fits the recipient when it is finished. My daughter Laura's birthday is coming up soon, and I bought her a really pretty outfit in Fall colors. This scarf set has the same colors so I'll give this set to her along with her new clothes. Colors are maroon, gold, olive green, brown, peach.
I borrowed a few photos from the web to show the flooding in Suffolk, Virginia, where my daughter Audrey lives. These first two photos show the flooding in downtown Suffolk. (where she works) Obviously, she was not able to go to work yesterday.
These next two photos show the road at the end of Audrey's driveway, and the water in her front yard. As you can see, roads were washed out, and even her yard was full of water.
Last night, Audrey told me that the water had gone down enough so that she could get out to go to work. The good news is that no one was hurt. A lot of folks lost their power, but Audrey's only went out once for a little while. This too, was good news.
I found another cute mug on the web and borrowed it to share here. This one is for folks like me who are lucky enough to have a precious little Yorkie. This is what my Pogo looks like sometimes when we wait too long to get his hair cut. Yup, a teeny tiny Lion King!
Speaking of Pogo, here's a photo of him snuggled into his fuzzy blankets, nose first. I don't know why, but he loves to put his whole face into the blanket.
Well that's my story for today. Now it's time to get busy here. First a couple chores, then I'd like to try finishing up the hat. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.
