Good morning. It's 8:25 a.m., and I've been up for a few hours. Last night was not such a sleepy night. I did, however, nap a while, awake for a while, etc. So I guess I'll be okay for the most part. Today I am still feeling a bit human, and that is definitely a good sign.
The coughing/choking up stuff has not stopped, bit I have hopes that it will stop at some point. See? I'm trying to keep a positive thought about it. It's been a bit cool bere. Mid 40's during the night, and now we are finally up to about 56F degrees. I had the heat on for overnight, but I just shut it off.
I was not able to get out to find a place where I could take photos of the Strawberry Full Moon. I had hoped to do this, but it was not to be. So now I'll look forward to the next big moon. It was raining here anyway, so it probably wasn't visible anywhere nearby.
Well, I've already accomplished something this morning. I have my supper for tonight and tomorrow already baked. It's a four cheese lasagna, and once it is cooled I'll cut and wrap it, and put it in the refrigerator. I figured as long as I was up and awake, I might as well get the cooking out of the way. I'm hoping to take a ride to the Post Office this morning and get a couple of boxes mailed off. They have been sitting here just waiting to be mailed out. This is also a great excuse to take Pogo for a ride in the car.
One box will be for daughter Audrey (this box has been waiting for about three weeks to be mailed out), and the other box is more lapghans for MS. Next I will concentrate on making a box of lapghans for veterans. (I actually have a couple of them already finished.)
I was very good though, and did not buy the doll. I've reached a time in my life where I need to cut way back on collecting things. But I can still enjoy looking at all the beautiful new dolls, and drooling just a little. I have a pocket full of tissues, so I'm all set.
Speaking of tissues, I think the tissue companies should be sending me stock certificates in their companies for buying so much of their product these past couple of months. I've gone through at least twenty five large boxes of tissues so far. Replacement boxes are on my shopping list every week. Hmmm, it's a nice thought anyway.
Joe is beginning to feel better. Whatever he caught, it has lasted much longer than he thought it would. But he is back to work and says that he feels a lot better. Dwarf Helen had a medical procedure done on one of her hands this week, and will be laid up for a few days. Thank goodness all the other dwarfs appear to be healthy.
Well, that's all my news for this morning. So till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a beautiful day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Hi Edna,
I had a big lump in my throat when I saw your lapghans (They are beautiful by the way) and seen where the next ones are for the Veterans. I was giving all of my paper back books away to people around here and when David was in the hospital in his coma, in the waiting room was a small stack of books with a post it note on it that read "I'm Free, take me home with you."
Their collection was really small so when I got my short break I went thru my books and dug out my post it notes and took the books to the hospital and put in the waiting room. I use to take them to the Veteran Hospital when I lived in Nevada but I cant do that anymore here. It is too far away but I can donate to the hospitals of ICU.
My son Nathan had to have his skull reconstructed when he was 4 months old and we stayed a few times at the Ronald McDonald house and the day that we were dismissed and it was time to go, one of the Volunteers took me to this room that had shelves and a large armoire and opened it and there were so many beautiful hand made quilts. No child went home without a special blanket.
That touched my heart so much. I couldn't quilt and didn't have time to try to learn at the time, but I would buy lots of material and needles and thread and batting and donate to the Ronald McDonald house every time that Nathan had a visit with his neurologist.
Children's Hospital also had a volunteer that came with a little cart every day and visited the families of kids that were in ICU and she had a selection of small crafts, everything from needle craft to paint by numbers to help the people there pass the time. It is really the little things that do make such a big difference in the lives of people who can do nothing but sit and wait as their child struggles for their lives.
The Ronald McDonald house is the only charity that I still donate to. They were there for me and would sit with me and hold my hand and just listen to me cry or give me a hug. There was always a hot meal to be found even at 3 in the morning if needed.
I know that there are many charities that need donations. I can't do them all, but this is the one that I chose to help support. Not just material things or money but do you have any idea how much coffee these people go thru (Smile).....?
I am glad that Joe is feeling better and I sure hope that all goes well with Helen's surgery. No doubt that she will be glad when it is over and all behind her. I will be sure to keep her in my thoughts.
I am heading over to update my blog and then back to bed. It was another late morning before I fell to sleep and my eyes are trying to close, so take care and I will talk to you soon.. Hugs, Beth
Edna, I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling more hopeful about the nasty coughing stopping now! When you can barely talk to say you can't talk is the worst.
The chill in our air is going away but it's still there in the mornings but we're expecting a high of 81 today. I'm at least going out to get the mail today just in case summer goes away before it actually gets here again!
Mm...the lasagne sound so good! Now I'm in the mood for something cheesy! I need to decide if lunch will be before or after therapy this afternoon!
Hugs, Nani
Your weather has been outrageous this winter and you all are still having cold temperatures. That seem to make any illness pertaining to sinusitis, pneumonia, flu and just a common cold worse. It takes a while to clear the mucus. So far I have my sinusitis and allergies under control, but I take an allergy pill daily and use the steroid nasal spray a lot. It's hot here and very humid, so our weather aren't the best for any type of illness either. I keep my house cool at 78 degrees in the daytime and 79 at night. My osteoarthritis doesn't let me use too much cold air. The sinus are also a problem with too much cold air. Just hang in there and now since you are retired, you can take your time on life now. You are doing great and you will be moving around doing lots of things again soon.
You have a great hobby in crocheting. I can sew and make clothes but never learned to knit and crochet. It's cheaper to buy clothes now than it is to make them. If you need a special garment and make it, that will be the only way I will try sewing again.(lol)
Keep taking care of yourself and time will heal you to do whatever you need to do. Just take it easy and relax. I know you are a go getter, and really wanting to do the things you were doing before this pneumonia. Hug Pogo for me.
