Oh My, So Much To Do, So Little Time!

February 28, 2018

Good morning.  It's not quite one o'clock in the morning, but I had a nap after supper and now I'm awake.  I thought I may as well post now, then maybe I can sleep a bit later in the morning.  Today is going to be another gorgeous day in the mid fifties.  This is good because I have more errands to do.

Yesterday (Tuesday) was quite the busy day for Pogo and me.  Pogo had an early morning appointment at the beauty salon, but when we got there, we found that the groomer had an emergency with one of her doggies, so we left a message and went on our way.

First we had to go to the bank, make a deposit and put a few things in the safety box.  Then we were off to the Post Office to buy some international stamps.  Next we went to the gun store.  I wanted to leave my gun for a cleaning, and they will keep it there until I get back from vacation.  This makes me feel much better.  I did not want to be leaving it in the house while I was gone.

On the way home, we stopped at McDonalds for some take out for lunch.  As soon as we got home and started to eat our lunch, the groomer called to say that she was back and could we come back in.  So, off we went again.  Here's a photo of my handsome little guy.  Of course, he is not going to smile for the camera.  He likes to make me really work hard for my photos of him.

Once we got back home, it was time for the Fire Department inspector to come by and inspect our new fuel tank.  We passed with flying colors.  He told us that the fellow who did the installation was one of the best around.

While the inspector was here, we asked him a lot of questions about how to dispose of old or used fire extinguishers.  We also asked how long they should be kept in the home before replacing them.  We got a lot of great information.  Also, the inspector told us that when we get ready to dispose of the ones that are in the house, we can call him and he will pick them up.  As long as the extinguishers work, they are used for demonstrations.  This was good to know.

One of the carbon monoxide alarms that we checked decided to stop working.  Even with a new battery, it would not work properly.  So, tomorrow, I need to go to the store and pick some new alarms.  I like to keep extras on hand for just in case.  We were going to be replacing the fire extinguishers soon so I'll pick up some new ones while I'm out.

Gosh, the busier I get, the quicker time seems to be flying by me.  After this, I only have three days left to take care of everything before it's time to leave for the airport.  Oh wow, so much to do, so little time!

Today I have a new quick page for you.  This time I thought I would have a bit of fun and infuse a little music into the page.  The Yellow Rose of Texas is such a happy song.  I hope you can have fun with this one.

Now I think I'll try to catch a few winks again.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

A Super Busy Day

February 27, 2018

Good morning.  This will be a short post because Pogo and I have a lot to do and we have to leave in a little while for his appointment at the beauty salon.

I have another video that I'd like to share.  This was from a show last year.  Before Jazzy got up to sing her number, a special young lady from the audience had asked her if she could come up and sing with her.  Of course, Jazzy said yes, and this turned out to be one of our favorite performances.  I hope you like it.  (I put the wrong date on it.  I'm still learning.)

Yesterday was such a busy day, getting lots of little things done.  Today I have a long list of things to do while Pogo is at the salon.  Whatever I don't get done, I'll do after I pick him up when he's done.

It's only 29F degrees this morning, but the forecast is for temps in the low 50's.  The sun is shining, so it should start warming up soon.  I will have to check with the Weather Channel later today to see what is happening with the storm that has been looming in the background for this coming weekend.  I just hope that it can wait until Pogo and I are safely in Fla Fla.

Daughter Audrey called last night to tell me about her trip to Austria.  It was quite an exciting adventure for her.  I will try to have some photos to share soon.  Now I have to start getting dressed.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day.

It's Super Crunch Time!

February 26, 2018

Good morning.  Tis cloudy this morning, but the sun will probably make an appearance later today.  The temperature is 41F degrees, and will work it's way up to the low 50's in a couple of hours.  I can definitely dig it!  I'm ready to welcome Miss Spring with open arms!

Well, Pogo and I have reached super crunch time.  Today we have to set up the suitcase and start putting things into it so that we know what we are taking with us to Fla Fla.  I've already set aside some clothes for both of us.  I also need to start packing my carry on bag.  This one is very important because it will have the most important items in it.  (laptop, camera, meds, etc.)

Are we getting excited?  Oh yes!  In just six more days, we'll be on a plane flying to the sunshine state.  It's going to feel so good to get away from the cares and worries of this big old house for a while.

Aside from the furnace going on the fritz over the weekend, the baking element in the kitchen stove oven broke a few days ago.  After doing a bit of research, Joe and I were able to get the part number that had broken and found a place locally that had the part in stock.  Joe picked up the part and was able to fix the stove.

You know, I love my big old house, but there is always something needing attention.  When I get back from vacation, I want to seriously dig in and start getting rid of a lot of things.  Because it's such a big house, there's a lot of stuff that I just don't need to hang onto any more.  This will be a big task, but I'll just do a bit each day.  Hopefully, this will work.

Today, I went into my photo archives and dug out a couple photos of my little guy on his first trip to Florida.  You know, he hasn't changed a bit in my eyes.  He's still the cutest little fellow to me.

The first photo was Pogo basking in the warm air on our little porch (at our condo) and the second photo was of Auntie Audrey taking him for his first walk around the resort.  It never gets old folks.  Every year is a brand new adventure for my little guy.  It's such fun to watch him getting excited about everything he comes across.

Tomorrow morning Pogo has an appointment with his groomer at ten o'clock.  So, unless I get up early, I'll be posting a bit late tomorrow.  I may try to get an appointment to have my nails done this week too.  They really are starting to look wicked awful.  We both want to look pretty for our vacation.

Now I have some dishes waiting to be washed in the kitchen sink.  I also want to do a bit of blog reading before I get started on today's chores.  Sad to say, there are fewer and fewer blogs to read now.  It seems that so many blogger folks have cut way back on posting to their blogs.  Hmm, that's so sad.  I do miss  them.

I'm off now.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

"The Awesome 80's" Show

February 25, 2018

Good morning.  Tis wet and gray today and the temperature is 35F degrees.  It's only 7:30 a.m. so I'll wait a couple more hours and then I'll call the furnace company.  For some reason, the heat has not come on since some time yesterday afternoon.  This just won't do.  I'm just getting back on my feet and I don't want to get sick again.

It probably has to do with a part that the old furnace repair guys used to just clean out instead of replacing.  We'll find out when the new guys come out to check on it.  The temperature inside the house hasn't gotten too cold so we've been able to stay fairly warm.

Well, let me tell you about the dinner show last night.  It was awesome!  This was the last "Awesome 80's" performance and it was great.  For some reason, I was having trouble trying to take some videos.  My phone camera kept shutting off part way through a number.  My arm was probably a bit shaky holding the phone up in the air.  But I did get some videos and I poste a batch of them on Facebook as soon as I got home.

Today I'm going to try to post one of Jazzy's videos here.  I looked up some directions on Google last night so hopefully I'll be successful.

Well, here's the video.  Now I'm going to have to sign out and see if it works.  Be back in a minute.

I'm back, and yeah!  It works.  I hope you like it.  This is one of my favorite numbers that Jazzy sings in the show.  Now that I can inset a video, I can share one now and then.  (I had uploaded the video to YouTube last night)

I also have a photo from the show of Jazzy and De Moody singing.  It's a bit fuzzy, but it was the best I could get at the time.

And, here's a photo from the finale of the show.  These Starliners were awesome, the food was great and the company was superb.  A wonderful night out.  (Jazzy is second from the right)

Speaking of the great food, I had Prime Rib, medium rare.  Oh yum yum!  I was a good mommy though and brought home a nice chunk of it for Pogo.  Of course, you know he ate every little sniff of it!

The new show for the month of March will be Joseph's Coat of Many Colors.  We've already reserved our table for March 24th.  Jasmine won't be singing in that show but she will be part of the wait staff.  It's wonderful entertainment, and the folks there are really nice.

Today I have a new quick page for you.  This one features coffee.  I love my morning coffee!  Enjoy.

Now I need to meander out to the kitchen and make myself a hot cup of coffee.  Got to keep these old bones warm until the furnace is cooking again.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Where Has My Little Dog Gone?

February 23, 2018

Good morning.  The sun is shining and the temperature is 39F degrees, working it's way up to around 44F degrees.  Tomorrow temps will get up into the mid fifties, and then Pogo and I will go out again.

Tomorrow night Deanne and Eddie and I are going to go to the Paris Cabaret to see Jazzy's last performance there until after the Spring drama at the high school.  I've been looking forward to this all month.

Yesterday was rather quiet here.  I was busy most of the day, although I don't really remember what it was that kept me so busy.  Just lots of little things I guess.  In between all these little projects, I did my best to eat the last couple of desserts that DIL Janet had brought the night before.  I had some for breakfast, some for lunch and some for an afternoon snack.  It was a tough job, but I did it.  (and yes, I did send a whole box of desserts out to Joe)

When I had my ceramic shop (many years ago) I made these two dishes.  When new glaze colors came in, I would do this so that I could see what the finished glaze would look like.  These two dishes became favorites of mine and I kept them long after I had given most everything else away. (when I closed up the shop)

A few weeks ago, I served Pogo his dinner on one of these plates, and he seemed to really like it, so now they are his new dinner dishes.

Yesterday, Pogo gave me quite a scare.  I had gone out into the house to distribute the mail, and when I came back in here, my Pogo was nowhere to be found.  I went back out into the house to see if maybe he followed me out there, but no Pogo.  I check everywhere in our little apartment, and still no Pogo.  Now I was really getting nervous.  I retraced my steps for about five more minutes, then I called his name.

All of a sudden, out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw movement from the blanket on my chair.  And yup!!  It did move!  I found Pogo.  He had crawled under the blanket, into a corner of the chair and had fallen asleep.  Here's a photo I snapped.

I just remembered how I spent some of my time yesterday.  I made a few new quick pages so that I don't run out while I'm on vacation.  It's fun making these pages, and time gets away from me.

The Hot Spot gadget that I had ordered a while ago came last week but it was a bit too confusing for me to set up.  So today, Deanne is coming by to see if she can set it up for me.  I hope so because I want to use this as my Wi Fi in Florida.

*******I'm back.  I got a phone from a cousin that I haven't heard from in such a long time, and we had such an awesome conversation.  She hasn't been well, and I'm wicked glad to have heard from her.  I've invited her to come sit on my little porch with Pogo and me when the weather gets warmer.  This will be so nice.

Daughter Deanne also just called to say that she is on the way here so it's time for me to take my leave.  Till Sunday, Y'all have a super weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Oh What A Beautiful Morning, Oh What A Beautiful Day!

February 22, 2018

Good morning.  Well, tis quite gray outside now and much cooler.  Temps are at 41F degrees and dropping quickly.  We are expecting snow this morning, then changing to rain, changing back to snow and then back to rain.  All this is supposed to take place during the day and night with temps dropping to 31F degrees.

It is still winter, so we expect this but I have to say that the last two days were simply glorious.  Pogo and I went out yesterday for a while.  It felt so good to be able to drive my car and to browse around in one of our favorite stores, Ocean State Job Lot.  Pogo loves this store because the folks there love him and so many of the customers and employees stop to pet him.

The store was having an awesome sale on a few yarns, so I picked up a few skeins to put away for future afghans.  I also picked up a new box of tea to try.  This one is Lemon & Echinacea Herbal Tea.

Temps yesterday climbed up into the low seventies and the parks were full of folks and doggies out for walks, just enjoying the awesome weather.  Daughter Deanne took Aurora (her granddaughter) out to the park to feed the ducks and geese, and then they went to a playground where Aurora had a wonderful time.  Here's Aurora on one of the swings.

Saturday's temperature is supposed to climb back up into the mid fifties, so I think Pogo and I will go out that day to do a couple more errands.  That one trip out yesterday exhausted me, but it felt good to be getting back to a bit of normal.  Obviously, we did not get to do any other errands, but it was a nice start.

We are down to crunch time now and there is so much to do to get ready for our vacation.  Every day I am trying to do at least one or two little things.  Today I need to call grandson Kevin to see if he can come by after work and set up the new hot spot thing that I had bought for my small laptop.  If he can't get it set up, I'll have to return it soon.

I have a cute photo to share.  Lots of times when Joe is cooking supper for himself and some of the dwarfs, he will cook a bit extra and give it to Pogo.  The other night, Joe cooked an extra hamburger for Pogo.  I cut it all up and then took this photo of Pogo digging in to one of his favorite foods.  Notice his fancy dinnerware?  My little guy likes nice things. hahaha.

Last evening, DIL Janet came by after work.  We ordered steak and cheese submarine sandwiches for supper, and then for dessert we had a tough time choosing which of the scrumptious desserts to eat (that Janet had stopped to buy on her way here).  Folks, she came in with a huge shopping bag from a local bakery, and inside the bag was three boxes of goodies.  She couldn't make up her mind which desserts to buy so she bought several of them.

Oh my, yum yum!  More yum yum!  Peeking inside each of the boxes, the surprises kept getting better and better.  Lots and lots of whipped cream, chocolate, strawberry, oh my this is sooooo delicious looking!  I only ate half of my sandwich and saved my appetite for this huge chocolatey thing full of whipped cream.  Oh my,  soooooooo delish!  Janet dove into a huge strawberry and whipped cream delight.  Oh gosh, it tastes so good to be so bad!

For breakfast this morning, I devoured a long pastry filled with whipped cream and a bit of strawberry.  I have to say it tasted pretty good with my coffee.  There are still two boxes of goodies in my refrigerator but I will take them out in to the house later and share them with Joe and the other dwarfs.

Last night, I actually fell asleep and slept right through most of the night until around 5:30 this morning.  Today I'm hoping to finish putting all my tax stuff into columns ready to be added up.  Of course, being realistic I know this won't get done, but if I chip away at it every day, I'll get there.

Now I think I'll make a hot cup of that new tea and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Another Gorgeous Day!

February 21, 2018

Good morning.  Sleep was fitful during the night, so I've been up since about 5 a.m.  After crocheting for a while, I decided to cook some scrambled eggs and corned beef hash.  I've been wanting that lately.

Well surprise, surprise!  My corned beef hash turned out to be sausage hash.  Hmmm, I've never had this before.  I guess I have to read the labels at the market much better than I seem to be doing.  It tastes pretty good though, and Pogo licked his plate clean.

Today's temps are supposed to reach the low seventies, and Pogo and I are going to get out for a while and do a couple errands.  Today will be the last super spring day for a while.  Tonight we have much cooler temps moving in and we're supposed to see some snow tomorrow.  At least that's what the weather forecaster said last night.

Gosh, yesterday I had quite a nice burst of energy and ended up washing three loads of our blankets.  In between loads of laundry, I went through a couple piles of magazines and catalogues and tossed most all of them out into the recycle bin.  I even started sorting some clothes that Pogo and I will be packing in our suitcase.

I also had to make several phone calls to straighten out my car insurance.  Last week I got a new bill from the insurance company and it seems that my premiums got higher.  After checking into it, I found that the insurance broker took my AARP discount off my bill (don't know why they did this) and of course this raised my premiums higher.

After making a couple calls yesterday, I finally got it all straightened out.  My discount is back on my policy and my premiums are back to where they are supposed to be.  I never did find out why the broker decided to take away my discount, but he won't be doing it again.  I'll be watching my bill closely each year.

Today I want to share some photos that my stepson, Sean, took from his boat.  He lives in Florida and runs a charter fishing/sightseeing boat.  He has a great love for animals and especially loves the dolphins.  Aren't these just beautiful?

This getting up so early isn't good for me.  I'm beginning to get tired and that will not do.  We are going out this morning, and that's that!  I may have to take a nap later this afternoon.  Maybe.  DIL Janet might be coming by after work so my nap will be a very short one.

Today I have a new quick page for you.  This one is full of whimsy and nature.  Two of my favorite subjects.  Have fun with it.

Now I think I need to wash the breakfast dishes before I get too sleepy.  I may be able to catch a couple of winks too because we're not leaving to do our errands for a couple more hours.  On that happy note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Oh What A Beautiful Day!

February 20, 2018

Good morning.  Today is cloudy (so far) but it is warm.  We enjoyed temps of 50F degrees through the night, and today should reach 60F degrees.  I can definitely dig it!!  Tomorrow will be even warmer.  Pogo and I are enjoying it while we have it.

I'm even getting little spurts of new found energy lately.  It must be because I'm on the mend finally.  My projects haven't been too physical, but I'm getting lots of little things done.  It's a great feeling.  I spent a little time yesterday updating my little laptop.  I still have a bit more to go, but I'm getting there.

Last night, I finished off the crocheted blue baby blanket that I've been working on a little bit here and there.  It took me longer than it should have because my heart just wasn't into it.  I don't really like working on all solid colors.  However, it is finished and now I'll put it in a zipper bag and put it in the gift tote.  Here's a photo of the blanket.

I think I mentioned earlier that I had ordered a new pattern book for the toilet tissue dollies.  I took photos of it to share with you here.  Gosh, these dresses are so beautiful!  Have a lookee.

Now my fingers are just itching to start working on these dollies.  Alas, the doll bodies haven't arrived yet, and they are going in my suitcase anyway.  Gosh, just eleven more days and Pogo and I be on our way to Fla Fla.  Woo Hoo!

Yesterday, I did some laundry, and I washed my winter jackets too.  I think I'll be putting all but one of them into a bag for Big Brother Big Sister, and just keep one of them for myself.  I don't go out much in the cold weather, so I don't really need more than one jacket.

Later today I want to put aside a few things that need to be put into the bank safety box.  Pogo and I can take care of this tomorrow while we are out gallivanting.  I need to get out his stroller and clean it up.  It's been put away all winter so it's a bit dusty.  I thought I might take my walker with the basket for Pogo to Florida, but I think he'll be more comfortable in his stroller.

Mac and Audrey have been having a grand time at the Taxidermy conference in Austria.  They're also having a great time trying new foods and drinks, and meeting new folks.  Here's a photo that they posted on Facebook yesterday.

Today, I'll put some of Pogo's blankets in the laundry.  I meant to do them yesterday, but I did the jackets instead.  I think I'll run the carpet sweeper around a bit too.  It's looking like the dust bunnies have invited too many of their friends and relatives here, and today a lot of them have to go.

Well, I've finished my coffee, so I think I'll get the laundry started.  Then I can sit down and do a bit of blog reading before I get started on chasing dust bunnies.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Miss Spring Is Doing Her Best To Get Here

February 19, 2018

Good morning.  The sun is shining and it's cold.  However, it will warm up to the low 40's and keep getting warmer through the night tonight.  The next couple days will be superb with temps in the 60's.  Spring is really working hard to chase Old Man Winter away.

I'm not really sure what it was that I did yesterday that kept me so busy all day.  Whatever it was, it tuckered me out and I fell asleep early after supper again.  This is not good because then I wake up before midnight and I can't get back to sleep.  Maybe I'll try to get a little nap after lunch today to see if that will help.

Today I need to do a bit of laundry.  I'll probably do a load of Pogo's blankets too.  I like to keep them fresh.  I've started my "what to pack" list and "need to do" list.  Fla Fla is only a week and a half away.  I've checked my small laptop and got a few things put on a thumb drive to update it.  I'll wait until the last minute to charge both batteries for my portable oxygen concentrator.

I think I'll try driving my car for a while this Wednesday.  Maybe Pogo and I can take a short trip to Ocean State Job Lot to browse a bit.  I'm beginning to feel a bit better.  The cough is letting up a bit and my breathing isn't quite so bad.

Along with my meds, I've been taking a bunch of vitamins.  Two of them are gummies, so it's not such a chore to take them every day.  They really are quite tasty, and hopefully part of the reason why I'm feeling better.

I borrowed this little poster from the web to let folks around me know not to come anywhere near me if they have any kind of virus bug.  I have a little spray bottle that I'm going to fill up with Lysol.  hahaha.

I thought I had ordered some little doll bodies a few days ago but they haven't come.  Last night I ordered a new batch of them from Amazon.  These will be here in a couple days.  If the ones that I thought I had ordered arrive too, so be it.

Aha, now I remember what it was that I did yesterday afternoon.  I read through my whole first year of blogging.  Wow, now that was fun and interesting.  I can't get over all the energy that I had back then.  What a difference just a few (ten) years makes.  Lots of great grandbabies came along since then too.  Plus, the photos took me back to when some of the grown up grandkids were still small.  Maybe tomorrow I'll read through year two.

Daughter Audrey sent a message via Facebook to let us all know that she and Mac arrived in Austria yesterday.  It was a super long flight (and she doesn't like flying!) but now that they are there, they can begin to enjoy their surroundings.  I can't wait to see a few photos.

I borrowed another cute photo from the web to share with you.  This is a photo of an adorable little planter named Groot.  Isn't he just the cutest little thing?

This reminds me that I have a lot of plant rootings that are needing to be put into pots.  Maybe I can get this done before leaving for vacation.

Pogo's doctor called yesterday to give me the results of all his tests.  Everything came back good, except for one thing that hinted he might be borderline for Lyme Disease.  However, he has no symptoms and is doing really well.  So the doctor said we'll just watch him and re-take the test next year as long as nothing pops up before then.

Well, I've about chewed your ear off by now so I'll take my leave.  The breakfast dishes are waiting to be washed but first I'll do a bit of blog reading.  I like to start my day visiting my blog friends.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow. It Did!

February 18, 2018

Good morning.  During the night, I could hear the plows going up and down the street, but I didn't bother to look outside to see how much snow we were getting.  This morning I looked and we got quite a lot.  Five to eight inches had been forecast and I think we got all eight inches.  However, it probably won't last very long because it's not cold outside.  And, this week we are supposed to see a couple of days with temps that hit sixty.  Woo Hoo.

Well, last night I feel asleep super early, and then I was up at 11:30 for the night.  After feeding my hungry little fellow, I decided to see how much I could get done before falling asleep again.  I guess I did pretty good because I didn't go back to bed until 5 a.m.

I started out by paying a couple bills, and then I needed to print out my travel itinerary.  While printing the itinerary, I came across a couple of items on my desk that caught my interest.  One was some fascinating information about my ancestors while they were in Holland so I put this in an envelope to mail to my friend Kyra.  I thought she might be interested.

While I was at my desk PC, I opened some of my music files.  Of course, I had to listen to quite a few of the songs.  Afterwards, I checked out a few of my favorite scrap designers and picked up a few more scrap kits.

By the time I finished playing on the computer and shut it off, I looked down and voila!  What do I see but my new carry on bag that I bought last year while I was in Florida.  Then a bell went off, and I knew where my missing small laptop was hiding.  Yup!  Yup!  I looked inside the bag and there was my little laptop, it's mouse and it's charging cord.  This is good because I really didn't want to have to bring my regular laptop with me on vacation.  Today I will check it out to make sure it's okay.

Yesterday afternoon I spent a couple hours making new quick pages.  This is just in case I don't get a chance to do this when I'm in Florida.  Then I set up my new envelope "Travel Papers & Information."  This is where I keep all our important stuff for the trip.  Otherwise, I'd probably lose most of it.  I'm an expert at misplacing things.  Especially if I've put something away for safe keeping.  No one will ever find it!!  (not even me!)

Getting new glasses will have to wait until after I get back home from vacation.  At that time, I'll have to make them and the taxes my top priority projects.  I don't really need the new glasses, but the ones I'm wearing are really old and getting a bit fragile.

Joe has already been outside this morning, and shoveled and "snow blowed" all the snow out of the driveway and parking area.  He even cleaned off my car and my steps.  It looks pretty good out there now.  And, the sun is shining.  What a beautiful day!!

I do have a new quick page for you today.  This is another of my "nature" themed pages.  I hope you can use it.

I think that's enough of my babble.  Now I think I'll get a fresh bottle of cold water and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day.

Sending Prayers For The Families Of The Florida School Shooting Victims

February 16, 2018

Good morning.  Tis wet and gray outside with temps of 48F degrees.  Yesterday I heard the weatherman saying that we had 5 to 8 inches of snow coming this weekend.  Aye yi yi!  We'll just wait and see what comes our way.

Yesterday I promised photos of my new miniature valentine rose plant.  I took it out on the porch to photograph it in natural lighting.  Isn't this just the cutest?  Of course, when it starts getting bigger I'll have to re-pot it, but for now it looks super in the little lady bug pot.

I just can't wait for Spring.  In a few more weeks, we'll be able to take down all the screen covers and the heavy plastic on the porch.  Then it will get a good vacuuming and set up.   It will be so nice to sit out there and watch the birds and small critters.

The news yesterday and last night was consumed by the mass shooting in the Florida school.  I watched it for a while, but then I had to shut it off.  It's really quite sad to see how some of these younger generation kids have no morals or respect for life and law.

You can blame it on mental illness or whatever else, but they were raised so differently from the folks in my generation.  A lot of them seem to think that the laws are only for others, not themselves.  But then I look at the people making the laws and I wonder sometimes where their brains are.  Who in their right mind sells an assault weapon to an unbalanced eighteen year old?  Why are the laws of that area so lax?  What type of background check was done?  Why wasn't anything done about the sick things the shooter was posting on the web?

Of course, the first thing that lawmakers will push for will be more gun control aimed at all the legally licensed gun owners.  Sadly, this will not prevent any future mass shootings.  Most legal gun owners have been required to attend courses on gun safety and gun laws.  Most have even taken one or more classes  on shooting a gun.

Intensive background checks are done, and fingerprints are taken to be kept on file in all the national and local data bases.  Background checks are run again before we can even buy a gun, and then the gun is immediately registered.  All this kind of makes me wonder why we don't have to go through this same lengthy regime in order to buy an automobile.  I mean, how many people have been killed by automobiles?

Sorry about the rant, folks.  I'm really annoyed at the lawmakers' responses to this shooting.  My heart goes out to all the families of the victims.  This should not happen to our children.  School should be a safe place.  The streets should be safe too.

Rant over.  Last night, I took a photo of Pogo while he was playing one of his regular games.  Well, at least I call it a game.  When he wants something, he turns his back to me and stares at what it is that he wants.  When he wants to be picked up and put on the big sofa, he'll stand and stare at the sofa.  When he wants food, he'll stare at his dinner mat.

In this photo, he has turned his back to me and is staring at his dinner mat where there is no dish.  This is him telling me to get up and get him something to eat.  He will look at me until he gets my attention, then turn and stare at the mat.  Does your fur baby do this?

Now I need to do a few things before it's time to leave for my doctor appointment.  Daughter Deanne will be picking me up soon.  This morning I took the last of the antibiotic that I've been on.  I still have the cough, but it isn't quite as bad as it was.  (as long as I take cough syrup)  Now I just have to get my breathing better.

Before I take my leave, I want to send prayers and good wishes to Audrey and Mac for a safe flight tomorrow to Austria.  Have a wonderful time.  I love you.  Take lots of photos!!

I'm off now.  So till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Wanna Go Climbing?

February 15, 2018

Good morning.  Tis a bit gray today, but the temps are warmer.  I can dig this!  I know we still have some Winter left, but it feels so good to have a Spring day now and then.  Actually, Spring is only thirty three days away now.  Woo Hoo!

Remember yesterday I said that I was waiting for one more big bill?  Well, I spoke too soon.  The mailman brought it to me shortly after I finished my blog.  Well, at least it's out of the way now, and  that's one bill I won't have to pay again.

Daughter Deanne came by yesterday with the cutest miniature pink rose plant in a red lady bug pot..  Oh my it is so pretty.  I'll take a photo of it to share tomorrow.  Thank you Deanne, I love it.  This one will sit out on the porch all Spring and Summer so that I can enjoy it.

My friend Mary Ann sent me some awesome images of different places around the world.  I'd like to share a few of them with you.  This first one is called Sheeps Highway in Ireland.  Can you just imagine those poor sheep climbing that steep hill?

The next photo is titled Switchback Mountain, Tianman Highway, China.  Can you just imagine driving on this highway?  Not this fraidy cat!  But the scenery is simply beautiful!  If you take the trip, do take your camera with you.  I can't wait to see the photos.

Finally, this last one is called Pulpit Rock, Norway.  It looks like an awesome place for sunbathing or a picnic.  For you, not me.  Nope, nope, nope!  I'd be on my belly crawling for the nearest path down off this rock.  Actually, I'd have to be unconscious for you to get me up there in the first place.

Mary Ann, thank you for sharing these pictures with me.  Although they are beautiful, I won't be visiting these places in this lifetime.  I simply can't imagine why anyone would want to sit out on this last rock.  cluck, cluck. cluck.  (that's me clucking!)

This morning Pogo's doctor called me.  The test results aren't back yet, but she filled out his travel health paper and is mailing it to me.  Oh thank you, thank you.  Pogo has an appointment with the groomer a few days before we leave, and then he is all set to travel.

DIL Janet did not come by last night because her hubby was cooking her a special dinner for Valentine's Day.  (I should have thought of that!)  I hope your dinner was awesome Janet.  I'll see you next week.

I'm waiting for some dolly bodies to come in the mail, then I'll put a couple of them right into my suitcase along with a skein of yarn.  Whether or not I get to do much crocheting while on vacation does not matter.  My first goal is to rest and soak up the warm temps.

God willing, my friend Beth (and maybe her daughter too) will be joining Pogo and me.  I surely hope so.  They sure could use a break from illness and stress too.  I am so looking forward to having fun in the sun (or even just out on our little screened in patio) with my friends.  Stay well Beth.  Florida is only two weeks away!

Now I think I'll get me a cold bottle of water and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Happy Valentine's Day & Happy Birthday Janice

February 14, 2018

Good morning.  Tis a bit on the cloudy side this morning, but I do think the sun will make an appearance before too long.  The temperature is 35F degrees, but should get up to about 48F degrees later today.  Hopefully, this is our prelude to Spring.

Well, today is Valentine's Day and hopefully you have all your valentines ready to deliver.  Today's quick page features Lola, who is day dreaming and thinking of the beautiful roses and the box of chocolates that she is hoping her Honey will be bringing by later.

Today is also Janice's birthday.  Pogo and I want to wish her a beautiful day full of sunshine and happiness.  We love you Sweetie.  Happy Birthday.

I still haven't heard from Pogo's doctor, so I may give her a call later today.  No news is good news, but I just want to make sure.  So far, he has been acting normal.  He has a different appointment for his regular checkup tomorrow, but I don't think we have to keep this appointment because he was just checked the other day.  I'll find out when I call.  We still need his travel health paper, which hopefully they will mail to me.

Speaking of doctors, I have an appointment for Friday morning.  I'll have to keep this appointment to make sure I'm getting rid of whatever bug has been making me so sick.  I think I am, but it is taking ever so long.  I count my blessings though, because so many folks have been dying from the flu and pneumonia, and  I'm still here.

This morning I've been busy paying bills.  Oh yup, there's always a stack of bills wanting to be paid.  Now they are all set except for one.  I'm still waiting for the bill for the new fuel tank.  It's a biggie though, so I'm not rushing it.

This weekend daughter Audrey and her hubby, Mac, will be leaving on a trip to Austria.  How exciting!  They will be attending a Taxidermy convention there, and then exploring all the wonderful sights that the area has to offer.  I'm hoping to see lots of wonderful photos when they get back.

Tonight, DIL Janet should be coming by.  I'm not sure what we'll be having for supper.  I'll have to think on it this afternoon.  Maybe submarine sandwiches?  We haven't had those in a long while.  Hmm, I'll see what Janet feels like having.

Now it's time to do a bit of blog reading.  So till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Spring Really Is Coming Soon!

February 13, 2018

Good morning.  The sun is shining and the temperature is 29F degrees.  By eight o'clock this evening it should start warming up again.  Tomorrow is supposed to be in the fifties again.  Woo Hoo!  And guess what?  Spring really isn't very far off.

Yesterday I took Pogo out in the yard for a few minutes to get a bit of fresh air, and I spotted bits of new green in one of my little gardens.  So, I took a few photos.

It's too soon to rake away all the dead leaves, etc.  We can do that the end of next month.  It was just so nice to see this new greenery.  It's a sign of hope that the better weather isn't so far off.

After our little jaunt outdoors, Pogo had himself a nap and then he took up his place by the door to watch and wait for Joe to come home from work.  He looks forward to his turkey treat time every day.

I don't have an update on Pogo's tests yet.  We're still waiting for the doctor to call with the results.  But in the meantime, my little guy is acting just fine.

Last night I even crocheted a while on a little blue blanket that I've been making.  I started it a while ago, but the color wasn't what I wanted so I set it aside and made a different one.  My hands started getting achy lately so it was time to pick up the crocheting again.  It really does help.  My hands don't hurt today.

Do you believe Florida is only two and a half weeks away?  Gosh, I haven't even done much about packing our bag.  I like to do this early so that I have plenty of time to keep changing my mind about what to take with us.  Sounds crazy, huh?   Well, I do have a few quirks of my own.  hahaha.

Well, that's my news for today.  Now I'm off to take my meds and get a fresh bottle of cold water.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy First BIrthday Carmelo

February 12, 2018

Good morning.  Tis gray outside right now, and the temperature is 42F degrees.  The gray isn't so bad though when the temps are warm like this.  We did not get as much rain yesterday as we thought we might, but there are still lots of puddles everywhere.

Did you remember to get all your valentines ready for delivering?  Or mailing?  Valentines Day is only two days away.  Pogo is so excited that he has had his ready for weeks.  Of course, I can't take him out to deliver them, so he mailed them.  He's such an awesome little guy.

A couple days ago, my youngest great grandchild turned one year old.  Here are a couple photos of Carmelo enjoying his special day.  Happy Birthday Carmelo.  I hope your future is happy and awesome.

Saturday, my Pogo gave me a wicked scare.  His little body started making weird jerky movements and it wouldn't stop.  I called the hospital and daughter Deanne drove us there.  The movements stopped before we got there, and thankfully haven't started up again.

However, he did have to have some tests done.  Yesterday the doctor called to say that most everything looks good, but she needed to run another test to make sure.  This one is for Addison's disease.  I gave permission, and today we are hoping for the results.  I'm praying my little guy is okay.  He doesn't need anymore grief or hurt in his life.

My friend Mary Ann's hubby, Gene, recently had knee replacement surgery and is home now to recuperate.  I'm wishing you a speedy recovery, Gene.  Another friend, Angelica,  is bed ridden and recuperating from a long sickness.  Pogo sends woofs to you, Angelica for a speedy recovery.  I hope you are both up and around soon.

The trash collection trucks were here earlier, and since then I've been watching one of our trash barrels rolling in and out of the street.  I wonder would it be such a big thing for these guys to stand the barrels up just the way they found them?

Oh, oh.  Sounds like my grumpy is coming on.  Time for me to leave and have a bottle of juice.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Puddle Stomping

February 11, 2018

Good morning.  Tis wet and gray and 44F degrees outside.  It's supposed to rain all day and into the wee hours of tomorrow morning.  Calling all little duckies!  Put your boots on and come out and play all day.  The puddles should be really huge!

Do you remember how, when you were a little kid, your mother would let you go out and play in the rain?  (when  it was warm of course)  Oh the fun we had stomping in all the puddles!  Sometimes, we could take a bar of soap and a wash cloth out with us and get nice and clean.  Of course, this was back in the early forties.  (1940's)  I don't think they do this anymore.

Well, I think I'm on the road to recovery.  At least that's what my mind is thinking.  The body hasn't figured it out yet.  I'm taking my medicine, but I do need something for this wicked cough.  Joe is going to go to the store for me in a little while to pick some up.  He'll also pick me up a few groceries.  Hopefully, the rain won't get too heavy before he gets back.

The Fire Marshall called me Friday afternoon to make an appointment to come out and check the new fuel tank for safety.  I could not stop coughing, so he will call back this week to make an appointment.  Meanwhile, Joe went downstairs and made sure the cellar was tidy and clean.

Today I have a new quick page for you.  I love nature and the animals, and I hope you do too.  Enjoy.

Boo Hoo, I'll Be Missing The Show

February 9, 2018

Good morning.  Tis sunny, but cold today.  There is still a lot of ice in the driveway that hasn't been able to melt yet.  Hopefully it will be gone soon.  The temperature is 27F degrees, but it's supposed to warm up overnight and hit 52F degrees tomorrow.  Just for one day though, not to get excited.

Well, today I'm really sad.  Tomorrow night was supposed to be a big night for me and daughter Deanne.  We were going to watch Jazzy perform in the Valentine/80's show at the Paris Cabaret.  Now I won't be able to go, bummer!  Aside from not feeling my best, I can't stop the coughing and that would not make for a fun evening out for anyone.

Here are two photos that Paris Cabaret has posted online.  The first photo shows some of the singing waitstaff.  Jazzy is second from right.  The second photo shows some of the cast in costume.  Jazzy is on the left, second row.

There's one more show this month, and I'm hoping to be able to make it to that one.  This might be the last show that I get to see my Jazzy girl in for quite a while.  Soon, she'll be wicked busy with the high school's big drama performance this Spring, then comes graduation.  She's hoping to be off to college by the end of Summer.  Where have the years gone?  Our little girl is all grown up!

I'm getting low on spring water, so Joe went to the store to pick up a couple cases for me.  Pogo and I drink a lot of water.  He's picking up some eggs for me too.  I thought I might scramble up a couple eggs to have with corned beef hash.  Mmmm, now that's making me hungry!

We have one more helping of Pork Lo Mein in the refrigerator, but I'm saving that for Pogo for lunch today.  He really loves this stuff.  It gets a little expensive though, having it delivered.  There's a minimum you have to order if you want it delivered.  Hopefully, I can get out soon and then I can go pick it up myself.

I'm making slow headway on my tax stuff.  I don't seem to be able to concentrate  on it very long.  As long as I get all the bills and checks logged, I can go through the receipts and add everything up while we're in Florida.  That will work.

I ordered some plastic fashion dolls to see if I can make a few toilet tissue dollies.  Maybe I can work on this and the purple sweater while I'm on vacation.  In between going to the flea markets and taking photos, of course.

Well, I think I've chewed your ear off long enough.  It's time to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

It's Almost Fla Fla Time!

February 8, 2018

Good morning.  Tis quite cold and gray outside at the moment.  I'm not sure what we're in for today, but I don't think it's more snow.  Not that it matters much.  Whatever will be, will be.  It is cold though, only 23F degrees.  But, there's only forty more days till Spring!  Woo Hoo!

Well, yesterday daughter Deanne picked up my meds, so I did get started on an antibiotic.  As I type, the sun has come out! Let's hope this is an omen of good things to come.  At the very least, I don't seem to be as cranky this morning as I have been lately.

Time for Fla Fla is getting here pretty soon.   This is a personal joke of mine and my late hubby's.  Years ago, when we first started going to Florida, we saw Fla things everywhere.  Fla mugs, Fla shirts, Fla souvenirs, etc.  So Florida became Fla Fla.

Did I ever mention about my first adventures of  trying to find me a Fla mug?  Of course, this was many years ago, and my brains weren't up on the modern Florida talk.  We went to so many gift shops and souvenir stores looking for a Fla mug.  I could not find any, so I finally asked a store clerk.  She pointed me to the Florida mugs.  DUH!  I'm much smarter now!

Yesterday, I amused myself for a while by watching one of the shopping channels.  Of course, I was lucky enough to find something that I just had to have.  It's called a No Contract Hot Spot.  These past few years, the resort in Florida has installed Wi Fi.  However, it's not secure, and somehow, it always manages to mess up my laptop and all my passwords.  So I figure that having my own hot spot for Wi Fi will be safer for me, and it is secure.

Pogo had an appointment with his doctor today to get his check up and his travel health papers, but I had to re-schedule it for next week.  One way or another, I have to get him there.  We will be on that plane to Florida.

Today, I have a cute photo to share of great granddaughter Alena.  Here she is helping Grandpa out in his taxidermy shop.  (Would you believe she's only five?)   I wouldn't be surprised if she was working on her own pieces in just a few years.

Now that I've finished my breakfast, it's time to take my meds.  Then I'll wait an hour or so and take my vitamins.  After a bit of blog reading, it's back to the grind.  (tax stuff, groan, groan, groan)

On that note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Waiting For The Snow To Get Here

February 7, 2018

Good morning.  Well, it's gray outside, but there is definitely some weather headed our way.  Yesterday's snow stopped as quickly as it began.  I think it only lasted an hour or so, then the sun came out.

This morning we are supposed to be getting several inches of snow, then it should turn to rain, sleet and ice.  Well, now isn't that rather special!  So far, none of this weather has got here yet.  That's okay though.  I won't get mad if it doesn't make it all the way to us.  hahaha.

I just called the pharmacy to see if any meds had been called in for me over the last two days.  Believe it or not, a prescription was phoned in on Monday and has been ready ever since.  Unfortunately, no one thought to let me in on this news.  The pharmacist offered to sign me up for a program that will notify me whenever there are meds ready for me.  I said "yes, thank you."

I'm not sure if DIL Janet will be coming by later today, it depends on the weather.  I think I'll make that pot of pasta and meat sauce any way.  Pogo might eat a little bit of that.  Sometimes he will if he sees it on my plate.

Last night, I finished moving most all of the scrap resources off my laptop and over to the external hard drive.  Today, I'll take another look over my laptop to make sure I got it all.  It will feel a bit strange not having everything I need right here on my laptop, but I'll get used to it.

Today I have a new quick page for you.  This one is rather timely for Valentines Day and our loved ones.  Have fun with it.

I think I'll spend some time on my tax stuff this afternoon.  I don't want to, but I really need to get this stuff done.  First, I'll take my vitamins.  I ordered new ones and they arrived yesterday.  They are gummies and very tasty!

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day.

A Typical Winter Day

February 6, 2018

Good morning.  Tis gray today with temps in the high twenties and a light breeze.  It even looks like the sun might make an appearance at some point.  Just a typical winter day.

Well, my news from yesterday is that my doctor never did call me back.  I called his office later in the afternoon and was told that he hadn't gotten around to dealing with my problem yet.  I'm starting to feel special.

I went into my photo archives to find photos of the weather this time five years ago.  Would you believe we were up to our waists in snow?  Here's a couple of photos from then.  Let's hope we won't be having this here now.  The windshield wiper blade sticking up in the first photo is my car.

Yesterday, daughter Deanne picked up a few items for me at the market.  Now I can make another big pot of corn chowder, and Pogo has more turkey treat.  Tomorrow, I think I'll make a pot of pasta and meat sauce.  Then, I'll make the corn chowder after that.

Last evening, I decided to transfer my design resource files over to the new external hard drive.  So that's how I spent most of my evening.  In between all this, I watched a super movie on TV.  After a few hours, I called it quits for the day and shut off the computer.

Today I'll transfer some more files.  I have to say, this is freeing up a lot of room on my laptop.  Maybe now my pokey old laptop will run a little faster.  I don't look forward to buying a new one any time soon.

Oh my, I just looked up at my storm door and you'll never guess what is happening outside my door.  IT IS SNOWING!!!  Aye yi yi!

I think it's time for me to make a cup of coffee and do a bit of blog reading.  Yup, that's what I'll do.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Painting Rocks Looks Like Fun

February 5, 2018

Good morning.  Well, the sun is shining and the temperature is 39F degrees.  Rather a nice day for winter time.  Our flag is slowly waving in the gentle breeze.  Yup, it looks nice outside my door.

I've called for a fuel delivery, and I've put in a call to my doctor with a request for him to phone in an antibiotic for me.  The fuel will come tomorrow, but I doubt the doctor will keep his word and phone in some medicine for me.  I really don't want to drive feeling the way I do, but we shall see.

I slept rather patchy all through the night.  At one point, I got up and took a shower thinking that it might make me sleep better.  After that, I had a hot cup of soup that my friend Kyra had sent to me.    While I was enjoying my soup, Pogo had some hamburger that he had saved from supper.  Then we went back to bed and slept for a few hours.  Here's my cutie.  Wow, look at that tongue!

The mail carrier has just come by with a big batch of catalogues and a few more bills.  Goodie goodie.  One bill is for the house insurance, and I really do want to get that one paid before I leave for vacation.  Another bill is for electric power.  Wowsie!!  It's another huge bill.  These electricity bills are double what they normally were.  I wonder how this can be legal.  And we don't even have a choice about which company to use.  There's only one electric company in this area.

To go on to a much nicer subject, a couple of my blog friends have written about finding painted rocks in their areas.  I've never seen them around here, but it sounds so interesting.  Dover even has a couple of books to teach yourself how to paint rocks.  Hmmm, I just need a few more hours each day for all the fun stuff I'd like to try.

I guess the idea is to paint these little rocks, and then hide them somewhere around town.  When folks find them, they hide them again so that someone else can find them.  What a fun idea!

Now I'm going to wait to see if the doctor calls me back.  If he doesn't call back in the next couple of hours, I'll call his office again.  I'm off now, So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

An Awesome New Toy

February 4, 2018

Good morning.  Tis a bit gray outside, but the sun may still come out later on.  The temperature is around 37F degrees, headed for the low 40's.  We are also expecting some rain today.  That's okay, Pogo and I aren't going anywhere.

I've been feeling like crap lately, and I'm hoping that it's not pneumonia again.  Tomorrow morning, I'm going to call my doctor to see if he will prescribe some medicine.  Last night, I looked up the symptoms for pneumococcal pneumonia, and I have all the symptoms but one.  This made me really nervous.  Especially because my breathing hasn't been so good lately.

Aye yi yi.  I just don't need anymore of this.  Did you ever reach a point where you get sick of being sick?  Well, I'm there.  I think my friend Beth knows the feeling.  It seems like every time she turns around, there's another medical problem to deal with.  I wonder, when is enough enough?

Okay, so that's my little rant for today.  I do have better news to share.  A week or so ago, I ordered a new lens for my Canon.  It's a Tamron 18-400mm Di II VC HLD.

It arrived a few days ago, and I took it out on the porch to try it out.  There was a truck with a plow on the front of it in the driveway across the street.  I first took a photo without any zoom, then I took a photo with the 400 zoom.

Needless to say, I think I'm going to enjoy this lens very much.  Now I can't wait to go to the park and take photos.  Here's a cute photo I took of Pogo while I was playing with the new lens.  I'm not sure what he was looking at, but I loved the look on his face.

I think I've been up long enough for a while, so let me post a new quick page before I go.  This one is for all the February birthdays.  Your birthstone is purple Amethyst.  Enjoy.
